You’ll Never Get to the End of God’s Love

“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.”

John 10:28 (NIV)

When I took my kids to the Grand Canyon when they were young, my two boys were especially wiggly. I held on to their hands as we walked up to the edge. They wanted to let go—but there was no way I was letting go of their hands! As their father, I loved them too much to let them go.

After you put your hand in God’s hand, there will be times you’re going to want to let go. But no matter how your feelings or circumstances change, God is steady, sure, and faithful. When you become a Christian, he promises to keep you saved until heaven.

Jesus said, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand” (John 10:28 NIV).

There have been times in my life when I have said, “God, it’s not convenient to be a follower of Jesus right now. I’d like to let go for a little bit.” God says, “Well, you might want to let go of me, but I’m not letting go of you. You are in my hand, and no one can snatch you out.”

How big do you think God’s hand is? Do you think it’s so small that you can get to the edge of it? His hands are bigger than the universe. You’ll never get to the edge of God’s hands. You’ll never get to the end of God’s love.

Once you are born again, you can’t be unborn. Once your name is written in the eternal book of life, it’s written in indelible ink, the blood of Christ. Once you’re saved, you are always saved.

You don’t know what your future holds or how many years you’ve got left. You might lose everything, but you will never lose your salvation. Even when the world seems to have gone mad, you have a loving Father who is working things out for good.

Be confident and rest assured that the One who holds you in his hand will never let you go.

Talk It Over

Think of the times in your life when you wanted to let go of God’s hand. What was it about your circumstances that made you feel that way?
When was a time in your life that you could feel God holding you securely in his hands?
What promises in the Bible help assure you that you can't lose your salvation?

God loves you, no matter what you’ve done.

Because we’re human, we’ve taken Satan’s bait and been hooked into sin more times than we can count. But no matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’ve got a place in God’s forever family ready and waiting for you. The invitation is wide open. Just believe and receive.

Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can start with: “Dear God, I know that when I die I’m going to give an account of my life to you directly. I confess I have ignored you. I know I have sinned against you, and I have lived by my plan, not yours. I want that to change, starting right now. I want to turn away from my sins and turn toward you.

“Thank you for sending Jesus to die for all that I’ve done wrong so I don’t have to pay the penalty. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I know only your grace can save me, Lord.

“Jesus, thank you for loving me so much that you took all my guilt on yourself. You made me acceptable for heaven, and I humbly ask you to save me. I ask you to save me from the sins and the habits that are messing up my life right now. I believe in you, Jesus. And I believe you will keep your promise to save me instantly, certainly, completely, and eternally. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Dios te Creó para el Servicio

“Porque somos hechura de Dios, creados en Cristo Jesús para buenas obras, las cuales Dios dispuso de antemano a fin de que las pongamos en práctica” . Efesios 2:10 (NTV)

Dios te creó para que lo sirvas.

La Biblia dice: “Porque somos hechura de Dios, creados en Cristo Jesús para buenas obras, las cuales Dios dispuso de antemano a fin de que las pongamos en práctica” Efesios 2:10 (NTV).

Incluso antes de que nacieras, Dios decidió qué contribución quería que hicieras con tu vida. Dios no te puso en este planeta solo para ocupar espacio. ¡No! Él te puso aquí para que lo sirvieras sirviendo a los demás.

Y nadie más puede ser tú. Si no sirves a Dios de la manera en que Él pretendía que lo sirvieras, entonces el mundo se lo pierde.

Otro nombre para “buenas obras” es “ministerio”. Cada vez que usas tus talentos y habilidades para ayudar a alguien más, les estás ministrando. La Biblia dice en 1 Pedro 4:10, “Cada uno ponga al servicio de los demás el don que haya recibido, administrando fielmente la gracia de Dios en sus diversas formas” (NTV).

Los talentos que tienes no son para tu beneficio. Dios te dio tus talentos para el beneficio de otras personas. Nadie lo tiene todo completo; Dios conectó el universo para que nos necesitáramos unos a otros.

Dios quiere que practiques aquí en la Tierra lo que harás en el cielo. En el cielo, amarás a Dios y amarás a los demás, así que Él quiere que practiques desde ahora.

También vas a crecer espiritualmente y servir a Dios en el cielo, así que Él quiere que practiques eso también en la Tierra. Como es imposible servir a Dios directamente en la Tierra, aquí lo sirves sirviendo a otras personas. De hecho, Dios dice que cada vez que ayudas a alguien más, es como si lo estuvieras haciendo por Él.

Sirves a Dios cuando sirves a los demás.

If You Want to Live, Give Your Life Away

“God is fair; he will not forget the work you did and the love you showed for him by helping his people. And he will remember that you are still helping them.”

Hebrews 6:10 (NCV)

We’re all given the same number of minutes in a day. And we’re all given the same goal—to become more like Jesus.

If I were to describe Jesus in one word, it would be this: unselfish. So, for you and me, the whole goal of life is learning how to become more and more unselfish, because to be unselfish is love—and Jesus is love.

The Bible promises, “God is fair; he will not forget the work you did and the love you showed for him by helping his people. And he will remember that you are still helping them” (Hebrews 6:10 NCV).

Our reward in heaven is going to be based on what we did here on earth. One day, we’re all going to stand before God, and he’s going to say, “What did you do with what you were given?” Do you want to say, “Well, I made a lot of money, retired, and died”?

You were put on earth for more than that! Instead, live unselfishly and give yourself away for others and the Kingdom of God. Then you will be able to say to God, “I gave it all, Lord. I’m laid bare. Everything I have and am, I gave it away for the Gospel.”

One of the most significant things you can do with your life is to give it away—to be generous with what you’ve been given, including your money, resources, time, and talent. God clearly says that when there is no service or generosity, there will be no reward in heaven. Is that how you want your time on earth to end?

Make your time on earth count for eternity. Help people come to know Christ, discover their purpose for life, grow in their maturity, find their ministry, and serve in their mission in the world.

When you give your life away, life takes on new meaning, new joy, and new excitement. That’s when you begin to fully live.

Dios te Ayuda a Crecer

“Pues Dios conoció a los suyos de antemano y los eligió para que llegaran a ser como su Hijo, a fin de que su Hijo fuera el hijo mayor entre muchos hermanos”. Romanos 8:29 (NTV)

La meta de Dios siempre ha sido hacerte como Él. Dios quiere que seas como su Hijo. En otras palabras, quiere que crezcas espiritualmente.

La Biblia dice: “Pues Dios conoció a los suyos de antemano y los eligió para que llegaran a ser como su Hijo, a fin de que su Hijo fuera el hijo mayor entre muchos hermanos” Romanos 8:29 (NTV).

Como pastor, la pregunta número uno que me hacen es esta: “¿Por qué me está pasando esto a mí?” Te diré por qué: es para ayudarte a crecer.

De hecho, todo en la vida puede ayudarte a crecer espiritualmente: lo bueno, lo malo, lo feo, las cosas que te provocas a ti mismo y las cosas que otras personas te hacen. Dios no es el autor del mal. Pero Dios puede sacar algo bueno de las cosas malas.

Cada situación en la vida te amargará o te hará mejor. Es tu decisión cómo eliges responder. En lugar de preguntarte: “Dios, ¿por qué me está pasando esto a mí?” Pregunta: “Dios, ¿qué quieres que aprenda de esto?”

Cada problema tiene un propósito: ayudarte a crecer espiritualmente y ser más como Jesucristo.

Entonces, si uno de los propósitos de tu vida es crecer espiritualmente y llegar a ser como Jesús, ¿cómo es Jesús? Basta con mirar el fruto del Espíritu. La Biblia dice: “La clase de fruto que el Espíritu Santo produce en nuestra vida es: amor, alegría, paz, paciencia, gentileza, bondad, fidelidad, humildad y control propio” Gálatas 5:22-23 (NTV). Estas son las cualidades que Dios quiere desarrollar en ti.

¿Cómo produce Dios esas cualidades y te ayuda a crecer espiritualmente? Él te enseña estas cualidades al ponerte en situaciones exactamente opuestas.

Dios te enseña a amar poniéndote cerca de personas desagradables. Él te enseña la alegría en medio del dolor. Dios te enseña la paz cuando estás rodeado de caos. Él te enseña paciencia cuando parece que la línea en la que estás parado continúa para siempre.

Dios te enseñará estas cualidades a lo largo de tu vida, y el proceso tomará el resto de tu vida. Pero puedes confiar en que, sea lo que sea que enfrentes hoy, Él lo usará para ayudarte a desarrollar profundidad espiritual y llegar a ser más como Cristo.

God of Love, God of Justice

“Never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’”

Romans 12:19 (ESV)

Life is not fair. God never said it would be!

Life is unfair because there is sin in the world. Jesus came to make things right, and, one day, they will be. But, right now, sometimes bad people prosper. Sometimes good people suffer. Sometimes innocent people get hurt.

If you have been discriminated against because of your race, culture, language, or gender, if you’ve been abused, if you have been harassed or mistreated—that breaks my heart, and I am sorry for your hurt.

We should do whatever we can to correct injustice. But there’s something even more important than the way I feel about injustice. It’s the way God feels about it. God has seen every hurt in your life, and he grieves over injustice, too.

When somebody asks me, “Where was God when your son died?” I say, “He was at the same place he was when his Son died—grieving over man’s inhumanity to humanity.”

So why didn’t he stop it? God could stop all the evil in the world just like that. But it would mean taking away our freedom to choose.

God may not stop a hurt from happening, but God is keeping a record. Not only that, but the Bible says that he’s storing up your tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8).The Bible also says, “Never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord’” (Romans 12:19 ESV).

Because God is loving, he is also a God of justice. To allow evil to hurt his children and not seek justice would be unloving.

Since God seeks justice, you don’t have to spend your life holding on to hurts. In fact, God doesn’t want you to waste one second of your life on resentment, retaliation, or revenge. That’s just going to fill you with the poison of bitterness. Don’t waste your life on bitterness!

Some of you are allowing people who hurt you 10 years ago to still hurt you today because you’re holding on to the bitterness of that hurt. That’s foolish! They can only continue causing you more hurt you when you choose to remain bitter. You have to let it go.

Justice delayed is not justice denied. God is very aware of what people have done to you, and there will be a day of reckoning.

Do you trust him? If you do, you’ll let it go. Surrender your hurt to Jesus, and let him settle the score.

Dios te Creó para Su Familia

“Dios decidió de antemano adoptarnos como miembros de su familia al acercarnos a sí mismo por medio de Jesucristo. Eso es precisamente lo que él quería hacer, y le dio gran gusto hacerlo”. Efesios 1:5 (NTV)

La razón por la que existes es porque Dios quería que te convirtieras en parte de su familia.

La Biblia dice: “Dios decidió de antemano adoptarnos como miembros de su familia al acercarnos a sí mismo por medio de Jesucristo. Eso es precisamente lo que él quería hacer, y le dio gran gusto hacerlo” Efesios 1:5 (NTV).

Tu familia espiritual, la familia de Dios, sobrevivirá incluso a tu familia física. Las familias físicas no duran. Crecen, se alejan y mueren. Pero la familia espiritual de Dios vivirá una y otra vez por la eternidad.

Dios nunca tuvo la intención de que pasaras por la vida solo. La verdad es que Dios odia la soledad.

Cuando Dios creó al hombre, lo puso en el Jardín del Edén, un ambiente perfecto, y lo primero que dijo Dios fue: “No es bueno que el hombre esté solo”. Dios quiere que seas parte de su familia.

¿Qué es la familia de Dios? La Biblia dice: “Esta es la iglesia del Dios viviente, columna y fundamento de la verdad” 1 Timoteo 3:15 (NTV). La iglesia, el cuerpo de Cristo, no es una institución. La iglesia no es una burocracia, una organización o un club social. La iglesia es la familia de Dios. No se trata de reglas y regulaciones, rituales y religión. Se trata de relaciones. Y se trata de amor.

La iglesia es “soporte y fundamento de la verdad”. ¿Qué sucede cuando un edificio no tiene soporte ni cimientos? Se derrumba. Las personas que viven en áreas propensas a terremotos entienden esto mejor que la mayoría. Si no tiene una buena base debajo de su edificio, se derrumbará cuando llegue un terremoto.

Dios dice que tu vida funciona de la misma manera. Vas a tener algunos terremotos: terremotos financieros, emocionales, relacionales, de salud y profesionales. Y cuando lleguen tiempos difíciles y no tengas una familia espiritual que te apoye, colapsarás.

No puedes cumplir los propósitos de Dios por ti mismo. Dios te preparó para necesitar a otras personas. Con el firme apoyo de la familia de Dios, tendrás la base segura que necesitas para sobrellevar los desafíos de la vida.

How to Get the Help You Need for Today

“When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up—the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord your God.”

Isaiah 43:2-3 (TLB)

When you became a Christian, did you expect life to suddenly be easy?

If you did, I bet you found out pretty quickly that Christians face all kinds of trials—including relational, financial, physical, and mental. Some people expect life to be heaven on earth. But this is not heaven!

We pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven—because then it would be done perfectly.

But on earth, God’s will is seldom done. Everything on this planet is broken. The weather, the economy, our bodies, and our relationships don’t always work right. We can be sure that, because of sin, bad things will happen.

We can also be assured of God’s promises to support us in all the trouble we will face on this earth.

“When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up—the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord your God” (Isaiah 43:2-3 TLB).

When you go through deep waters and rivers of difficulty, God doesn’t promise that you won’t get wet; sometimes life hurts. But God does promise that you’re not going to drown. When you go through the fire, it’s going to get hot. But God promises that you’re not going to burn up. You’re going to make it through.

Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace]” (AMP). That doesn’t mean that you can do anything because of who you are. It means you can have confidence in whatever trouble life brings because you face it with the power of Christ in you.

You may not feel very strong right now. But strength will come when you need it. The Bible doesn’t say to ask God for your weekly or monthly bread. It says to pray something like this: “God, give me my daily bread. I need just enough strength for today.”

God will support you in your trouble. He always gives you the strength you need for today.

Fuiste Creado para ser Amado por Dios

“Incluso antes de haber hecho el mundo, Dios nos amó y nos eligió en Cristo para que seamos santos e intachables a sus ojos”. Efesios 1:4 (NTV)

¿Sabías que cuando Dios te mira, te ama simplemente porque te creó?

Cuando mis tres hijos eran pequeños, me sentaba al lado de su cama por la noche y los miraba dormir. Veía sus pechos subir y bajar. Como yo era su padre, me alegraba mucho verlos dormir en paz.

Así es como tu Padre celestial siente por ti.

La Biblia dice: “Incluso antes de haber hecho el mundo, Dios nos amó y nos eligió en Cristo para que seamos santos e intachables a sus ojos” Efesios 1:4 (NTV). Antes de que Dios incluso creara el universo, pensó en ti. De hecho, la Biblia dice que todo el universo fue creado simplemente para que Dios pudiera crear a la raza humana y amarnos. Somos el centro de su amor, a diferencia de cualquier otra cosa en la creación.

Fuiste creado para ser amado por Dios.

Cuando dejas que esa profunda verdad penetre en tu alma, nunca más tendrás un problema de inseguridad o baja autoestima. Porque cuando te des cuenta de que Dios te creó para amarte, te quitará todos esos sentimientos de incertidumbre.

En Oseas 6:6, Dios dice: “Quiero que demuestren amor, no que ofrezcan sacrificios. Más que ofrendas quemadas, quiero que me conozcan” (NTV). Lo más importante que puedes saber es que Dios te creó para amarte. Y lo más importante que puedes hacer es conocerlo y amarlo. Ese es tu propósito número uno en la vida.

La tragedia es que la mayoría de la gente pasa toda su vida sin encontrar el propósito de su vida. Saben todo tipo de cosas: cotizaciones de acciones, resultados deportivos, quién está en la portada de su revista favorita, pero no conocen a Dios.

Puede que sepas acerca de Dios, pero ¿lo conoces personalmente? ¿Tienes una amistad, una relación de amor, con Dios? Si no, te animo a que des ese paso hoy.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Te sorprende cuánto te ama Dios? ¿De qué manera Dios muestra Su amor por ti?¿Cómo puedes darle a Dios más de tu amor?¿Qué necesitas hacer para poder desarrollar una amistad más fuerte con Dios?

Dios te quiere en Su familia

Dios te hizo para amarte, y uno de los lugares que más claramente ves es en la cruz. A través de la muerte y resurrección de Jesús, Dios hizo posible que seas parte de su familia por la eternidad. No importa lo que hayas hecho o dónde hayas estado, tienes un lugar listo y esperándote en la familia eterna de Dios. La invitación está abierta. Solo tienes que creerlo y recibirlo.

¿Estás listo? Aquí hay una oración con la que puedes comenzar: “Querido Dios, sé que cuando muera, te daré cuenta de mi vida. Sé que he pecado contra ti y he vivido según mi plan, no el tuyo. Quiero que eso cambie, comenzando ahora mismo. Quiero alejarme de mis pecados y volverme hacia ti.

Gracias por enviar a Jesús a morir por todo lo que he hecho mal para no tener que pagar la pena. Sé que no merezco tu perdón. Sé que solo tu gracia puede salvarme, Señor. Nunca podría ser lo suficientemente bueno para entrar en un lugar perfecto.

Jesús, gracias por amarme tanto que tomaste toda mi culpa sobre ti. Tú me hiciste aceptable para el cielo, y te pido humildemente que me salves. Yo creo en ti, Jesús. Y creo que cumplirás tu promesa de salvarme instantánea, certera, completa y eternamente. En el nombre de Jesús oro. Amén”.

God Promises to Meet All Your Needs

“I want you to have the good that comes from giving . . . My God will use his wonderful riches in Christ Jesus to give you everything you need.”

Philippians 4:17, 19 (NCV)

God promises in the Bible that if you learn to give like him, then he will meet all your needs.

Does that sound too good to be true? Maybe it does. But if the Bible says it, then you can believe it! God says that if you’ll put him first in your money and learn to be generous, open-handed, and open-hearted, then he will meet all your needs.

Paul says in Philippians 4, “I want you to have the good that comes from giving . . . My God will use his wonderful riches in Christ Jesus to give you everything you need” (Philippians 4:17, 19 NCV).

God promises to meet all your need—not all your greed. There is a difference, of course, in what you really need and what you sometimes think you need. Thankfully, God knows the difference. He loves you, and he wants to make sure you lack nothing—emotionally, physically, spiritually, and mentally. But he also wants to make sure you learn to be like him, and he is generous.

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 9:7, “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully’” (NLT).

Nobody should tell you what to give. What’s generous for you is your decision. God loves it when you give because you want to—out of love for him and a desire to be like him.

People often say, “Give till it hurts.” No! Give till it feels good! Give till it becomes joyful. Don’t give reluctantly. Don’t give under pressure. God loves a cheerful giver.

That’s the premise. Now, here’s the promise: “And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others” (2 Corinthians 9:8 NLT).

God has not allowed any wiggle room for himself in this promise. He doesn’t have to! He is able to provide everything you need and more. He is waiting to see you giving cheerfully, generously, and spontaneously—from the heart.

No te Limites a Escuchar la Biblia. Recuérdala

“Escucha atentamente mis palabras. No las pierdas de vista. Déjalas llegar hasta lo profundo de tu corazón, pues traen vida a quienes las encuentran y dan salud a todo el cuerpo”. Proverbios 4:20-22 (NTV)

No puedes simplemente escuchar algo y volverte más sabio; tienes que recordarlo. Y no puedes simplemente recordarlo; tienes que reforzarlo. Porque si no lo recuerdas y lo refuerzas, terminas teniendo que aprender la misma lección una y otra vez.

La Biblia dice esto acerca de la sabiduría en Proverbios 22:17-18: “Escucha lo que digo y presta atención a los dichos de los sabios para que los aprendas. Será un placer para ti memorizarlos y repetirlos continuamente te ayudará” (PDT). Nota los cuatro verbos en este versículo: escuchar, aprender, memorizar, repetir. Esas son marcas de sabiduría.

La gente dice: “¡No puedo recordar nada!”. Ah, sí puedes. Recuerdas lo que es importante para ti. Recuerdas lo que amas. Recuerdas lo que te importa.

Por ejemplo, podrías decir: “No puedo memorizar la Biblia”. Pero recuerdas las estadísticas de béisbol o fútbol de la última temporada. Puede citar letras de canciones populares o cada paso de una receta favorita. Recuerdas lo que es importante para ti.

Cuando desarrollas una pasión por la Palabra de Dios, la Verdad se vuelve importante para ti. La escucharás, aprenderás, memorizarás, repetirás y la recordarás. Entonces, podrás cambiar tu vida.
