Past Mistakes Don’t End God’s Call on Your Life

You’ve messed up. You’ve sinned. You’ve made bad decisions. So have I—all of the above.

But guess what?

None of those failures have changed God’s call on your life one bit. The calling God gave you at birth, the one he reaffirmed when he saved you, is a calling he gives you forever. It’s permanent.

Just look at Paul. Before he became a believer, Paul went into people’s homes, dragged them out into the street, and threw them into jail. He writes in 1 Timothy 1:12-13, “I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief” (NIV).

But none of that changed God’s call on Paul’s life. And nothing can change God’s call on your life, either.

In fact, God wants to use the pain from your past for his glory today and in the future. God never wastes a hurt. It all fits into his plan.

He can take your mistakes, your sins, and even the sins of others who’ve hurt you and work them all into his plan of redemption. The Bible says, “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

Past Mistake Don’t End God’s Call on Your Life

But guess what?

The Clues to Where You Should Be Serving

The Bible uses the term “heart” to describe the bundle of desires, hopes, interests, ambitions, dreams, and affections that you have. Your heart represents the source of all your motivations—what you love to do and what you care about most. Even today, we still use the word in this way when we say, “I love you with all my heart.”

The Bible says what is in your heart reveals what you really are: “As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart” (Proverbs 27:19 NIV). You are not what others think you are or what circumstances force you to be. Your heart is the real you. It determines why you say the things you do, why you feel the way you do, and why you act the way you do.

Physically, each of us has a unique heartbeat. Just as we each have unique thumbprints, eye prints, and voiceprints, our hearts beat in slightly different patterns. It’s amazing that out of all the billions of people who’ve ever lived, no one has ever had a heartbeat exactly like yours.

In the same way, God has given each of us a unique emotional heartbeat that races when we think about the subjects, activities, or circumstances that interest us. We instinctively care about some things and not about others. These are clues to where you should be serving.

Another word for heart is passion. There are certain subjects that you feel deeply passionate about and others that you couldn’t care less about. Some experiences turn you on and capture your attention, while others turn you off or bore you to tears. When you were growing up, you may have discovered that you were intensely interested in some subjects that no one else in your family cared about.

Where did those interests come from? They came from God! He gave them to you for a reason, and he wants you to use them to serve others.

Ayudas sobre dónde Deberías estar Sirviendo

 

“En el agua se refleja el rostro, y en el corazón se refleja la persona.” (Proverbios 27:19 NVI).

La Biblia usa el término “corazón” para describir el conjunto de deseos, esperanzas, intereses, ambiciones, sueños y afectos que tienes. Tu corazón representa la fuente de todas tus motivaciones: lo que te gusta hacer y lo que más te importa. Incluso hoy usamos la palabra de esta manera cuando decimos: “Te amo con todo mi corazón”.

La Biblia dice que lo que hay en tu corazón revela lo que realmente eres: “En el agua se refleja el rostro, y en el corazón se refleja la persona.” (Proverbios 27:19 NVI).

No eres lo que otros piensan que eres o lo que las circunstancias te obligan ser. Tu corazón es el verdadero tú. Determina por qué dices las cosas que dices, por qué te sientes como lo haces, y por qué actúas como lo haces.

Físicamente, cada uno de nosotros tiene un latido cardíaco único. Así como cada uno de nosotros posee huellas digitales, huellas oculares y huellas de voz únicas, nuestros corazones laten en patrones ligeramente diferentes. Es sorprendente que de todos los miles de millones de personas que han vivido, nadie haya tenido un latido del corazón exactamente como el tuyo.

Del mismo modo, Dios nos ha dado a cada uno un latido emocional único que se acelera cuando pensamos en los temas, actividades o circunstancias que nos interesan. Nos preocupamos instintivamente por algunas cosas y no por otras. Estas son señales para saber dónde deberías estar sirviendo.

Otra palabra para corazón es pasión. Hay ciertos temas que te apasionan profundamente y otros que no te tienes interés alguno. Algunas experiencias te encienden y captan tu atención, mientras que otras te apagan o te aburren hasta las lágrimas. Mientras crecías puedes haber descubierto que estabas intensamente interesado en algunos temas que no le importaban a nadie más en tu familia.

¿De dónde vinieron esos intereses? ¡Vinieron de Dios! Él te los dio por una razón, y quiere que los uses para servir a los demás.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Qué temas, actividades o causas te apasionan? ¿Cómo estás invirtiendo estas cosas para la gloria de Dios?
Considera las cosas que consumen gran parte de tu tiempo y energía. ¿Están alineadas con tu latido emocional?
¿Por qué Dios querría que te apasionen las formas en que lo estás sirviendo?

What to Do with What You’re Given

Do you know what God created you for? Do you know what your destiny is?

Fulfilling your destiny requires recognizing the unique way God has created you. This includes the things you can’t control, such as your parents, your nationality, your race, your native language. It also includes your SHAPE: your Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences. All of these things make you uniquely you.

You are only responsible for the gifts God gives you. So, if you aren’t artistically gifted, you are not expected to paint pictures like Rembrandt.

When you get to heaven, God isn’t going to compare you with anyone else, but he will compare you with yourself. What did you do with what you were given? Romans 14:12 says, “Each of us will give an account of ourselves to God” (NIV).

In the Old Testament, Esther used three God-given assets to fulfill her destiny. She was intelligent, beautiful, and had an attractive personality. Because of these qualities, “Esther won the favor of everyone who saw her . . . She won [the king’s] favor and approval more than any of the other virgins. So he set a royal crown on her head and made her queen” (Esther 2:15, 17 NIV).

Just as God gave Esther gifts for a purpose, God has given you gifts for a purpose. And just like Esther, you have a responsibility to be a good steward of those gifts—not in selfish ways but for the good of others. A key to living a productive and fulfilling life is using your gifts to serve God by serving others.

Qué Hacer con lo que te Dan

 

“Cada uno ponga al servicio de los demás el don que haya recibido, administrando fielmente la gracia de Dios en sus diversas formas.” (1 Pedro 4:10 NVI).

¿Sabes para qué te creó Dios? ¿Sabes cuál es tu destino?

Cumplir tu destino requiere reconocer la manera única en que Dios te ha creado. Esto incluye las cosas que no puedes controlar, como tus padres, tu nacionalidad, tu raza, tu lengua materna. También incluye tu FORMA: tus dones espirituales, corazón, habilidades, personalidad y experiencias. Todas estas cosas te hacen única y exclusivamente tú.

Eres responsable solo por los dones que Dios te da. Entonces, si no tienes talento artístico, no se espera que pintes cuadros como Rembrandt.

Cuando llegues al cielo, Dios no te comparará con nadie más, sino que te comparará contigo mismo. ¿Qué hiciste con lo que te dieron? Romanos 14:12 dice: “Así que cada uno de nosotros tendrá que dar cuentas de sí a Dios” (NVI).

En el Antiguo Testamento, Esther usó tres bienes dados por Dios para cumplir su destino. Era inteligente, hermosa y tenía una personalidad atractiva. Debido a estas cualidades, “…ella se había ganado la simpatía de todo el que la veía. . . Al rey le gustó Ester más que todas las demás mujeres, y ella se ganó su aprobación y simpatía más que todas las otras vírgenes. Así que él le ciñó la corona real y la proclamó reina” (Ester 2:15,17 NVI).

Así como Dios le dio dones a Esther con un propósito, Dios te dio a ti dones con un propósito. Y al igual que Esther, tú tienes la responsabilidad de ser un buen administrador de esos dones, no de manera egoísta sino para el bien de los demás. Una clave para vivir una vida productiva y plena es usar tus dones para servir a Dios al servir a los demás.

Reflexiona sobre esto :

Para conocer tu destino debes conocer tus talentos y decidir cómo usarlos. Haz una lista de los dones que Dios te ha dado —incluyendo tu FORMA— y los factores de la vida que no puedes controlar, como tu familia, nacionalidad, etc. Pregúntate: “¿Qué me ha dado Dios para ser usado para el bien?”
¿Cómo puedes ayudar a otros a descubrir su FORMA y propósito?
¿En qué formas prácticas puedes salir de la rutina de compararte con los demás?

Dios tiene un Trabajo Específico para que Hagas

 

“Somos la obra maestra de Dios. Él nos creó de nuevo en Cristo Jesús, a fin de que hagamos las cosas buenas que preparó para nosotros tiempo atrás.” (Efesios 2:10 NTV).

God calls you to a service far beyond anything you could ever imagine. You were Dios te llama a servir más allá de todo lo que puedas imaginar. Fuiste puesto en la tierra para hacer una diferencia y una contribución.

No fuiste creado solo para consumir recursos –para comer, respirar y ocupar espacio. Fuiste creado para agregar vida a la tierra. Dios quiere que des algo más.

La Biblia dice, “Somos la obra maestra de Dios. Él nos creó de nuevo en Cristo Jesús, a fin de que hagamos las cosas buenas que preparó para nosotros tiempo atrás” (Efesios 2:10 NTV). Estas “cosas buenas” son tu servicio al mundo. Cuando sirves a otros de cualquier manera, estás en realidad sirviendo a Dios (Ver colosenses 3:23-24, Mateo 25:34-45 y Efesios 6:7).

Lo que Dios le dijo al profeta Jeremías también es verdad para ti: “antes de haberte formado en el vientre de tu madre; antes de que nacieras, te aparté;” (Jeremías 1:5 NTV).

Cuando la mayoría de las personas piensan en este “trabajo especial”, piensan en un clérigo profesional, pero Dios dice que cada miembro de su familia es un ministro. En la Biblia, las palabras “siervo” y “ministro” son sinónimos, como lo son “servicio” y “ministerio”. Si eres un cristiano, eres un ministro, y cuando estás sirviendo, estás ministrando.

¿Habías considerado el por qué Dios no solo nos tomó al cielo inmediatamente después de que aceptamos su gracia? Él nos dejó aquí para cumplir sus propósitos. Una vez que eres salvo, el propósito de Dios es usarnos para cumplir sus metas. Dios tiene un ministerio para ti en su iglesia y una misión para ti en el mundo.

¿Hay algo que evita que aceptes el llamado de Dios y servirle?
¿Por qué algunas personas batallan con la idea de que cada seguidor de Jesús es llamado al ministerio, no solo a los pastores profesionales?
Dios tiene un ministerio para ti en su iglesia y una misión para ti en el mundo. ¿Cuál es tu llamado para que hagas hoy justo donde vives –en tu casa, vecindario o comunidad- no importa lo pequeño que parezca? ¿Cómo responderás?

God Has Unique Work for You to Do

God calls you to a service far beyond anything you could ever imagine. You were put on earth to make a difference and a contribution.

You weren’t created just to consume resources—to eat, breathe, and take up space. You were created to add to life on earth. God wants you to give something back.

The Bible says, “God . . . has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10 GNT). These “good deeds” are your service to the world. Whenever you serve others in any way, you are actually serving God (see Colossians 3:23-24, Matthew 25:34-45, and Ephesians 6:7).

What God told the prophet Jeremiah is also true for you: “Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I chose you. Before you were born, I set you apart for a special work” (Jeremiah 1:5 NCV).

When most people think of this “special work,” they think of professional clergy, but God says every member of his family is a minister. In the Bible, the words “servant” and “minister” are synonyms, as are “service” and “ministry.” If you are a Christian, you are a minister, and when you’re serving, you’re ministering.

Have you ever wondered why God doesn’t just immediately take us to heaven the moment we accept his grace? He leaves us here to fulfill his purposes. Once you are saved, God intends to use you for his goals. God has a ministry for you in his church and a mission for you in the world.

Tu llamado y tu Comunión van de la Mano

 

“Amados hermanos, ustedes que pertenecen a Dios y[a] tienen parte con los que han sido llamados al cielo” (Hebreos 3:1 NTV).

No puedes cumplir el llamado de Dios para tu vida por propia tu cuenta. Es imposible, porque el llamado y la comunión van juntos.

Es como las partes de tu cuerpo. Son inútiles a menos que estén conectadas. Puedes tener un estupendo globo ocular –tiene la habilidad de tomar la luz, trasladarla a tu cerebro y permitirte ver cosas. Pero un globo ocular que está desconectado de tu cuerpo es inútil porque no puede ver nada.

Tienes un oído que es un regalo sorprendente de Dios. Tu oído toma las ondas de sonido, las convierte en impulsos para tu cerebro, y te permite escuchar lo que está sucediendo a tu alrededor. Pero si tu oído está desconectado de tu cuerpo, es inútil.

De la misma manera, debes estar conectado al cuerpo de Cristo para cumplir tu llamado.

La Biblia dice, “Pues hay un solo cuerpo y un solo Espíritu, tal como ustedes fueron llamados a una misma esperanza gloriosa para el futuro” (Efesios 4:4 NTV).

Eres creado para completar tu llamado en comunión con otros creyentes, donde trabajan juntos y se apoyan unos a otros. Considera como el ojo y el oído trabajan juntos para apoyar a todo el cuerpo. De la misma manera, todos los creyentes “pertenecen a Dios y tienen parte con los que han sido llamados al cielo” (Hebreos 3:1 NTV)

Esta semana cuando estés en la iglesia, mira alrededor. Las personas que estás viendo son “participantes” en el llamado de Dios para tu vida. Los necesitas, y ellos te necesitan.

Simplemente no puedes cumplir el llamado de Dios sin ellos.

Your Calling and Community Go Together

You can’t fulfill God’s call for your life on your own. It’s impossible, because calling and community go together.

It’s like the parts of your body. They’re worthless unless they’re connected. You may have an extremely gifted eyeball—it has the ability to take light, translate that light into your brain, and let you see things. But an eyeball that’s disconnected from your body is worthless because it can’t see anything.

You have an ear that is an amazing gift of God. Your ear can take sound waves, turn them into impulses to your brain, and let you hear what’s happening around you. But if your ear is disconnected from your body, it’s worthless.

In the same way, you must be connected to the body of Christ to fulfill your calling.

The Bible says, “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future” (Ephesians 4:4 NLT).

You’re created to complete your calling in the community with other believers, where you work together and support one another. Consider how the eye and the ear work together to support the whole body. In the same way, all believers “are holy partners in a heavenly calling” (Hebrews 3:1 GW).

This week when you’re at church, take a look around. The people you’re looking at are “holy partners” in God’s calling on your life. You need them, and they need you.

You simply can’t fulfill God’s call without them.
