Cuando Ayudas a otros a Crecer, tú también Creces

“Juntos podamos apoyarnos con la fe que tenemos. Su fe me ayudará a mí y mi fe los ayudará a ustedes”. Romanos 1:12b (PDT)

Dios nos tiene conectados de tal manera que cuando tú ayudas a otros a crecer, Dios te ayuda a ti a crecer. No hay un crecimiento más rápido que el que experimentas al estar en comunión con otros creyentes y alentar a cada uno a comprometerse a seguir a Jesucristo.

La Biblia dice en 1 Timoteo 4:7 “entrénate para la sumisión a Dios” (NTV). ¿Cómo te entrenas para la sumisión a Dios? perteneciendo a un grupo pequeño y consiguiendo un compañero espiritual. ¿Has notado que es más fácil trabajar cuando se trabaja con alguien más? Necesitas a alguien que camine a tu lado para crecer en la fe, y también es importante que te comprometas a acompañar a otros en su camino.

Nada puede afectar más tu vida que tus compromisos. Dime con que estás comprometido y te diré quién vas a ser en 20 años, porque te estás convirtiendo en lo que te has comprometido. ¡Tus compromisos forman tu vida! Y si tú no estás comprometido con nada, otras personas le darán forma a tu vida.

Tus compromisos no solo afectan el aquí y el ahora; también afectan la eternidad porque cada decisión que hagas tiene consecuencias eternas. Es por eso que la Biblia dice en Romanos 1:12 “Juntos podamos apoyarnos con la fe que tenemos. Su fe me ayudará a mí y mi fe los ayudará a ustedes” (PDT).

Es por eso que necesitas una familia de la iglesia, y es por eso que necesitas un grupo pequeño. ¡Nos ayudamos mutuamente!

God Brings New Life Out of the Fire

“Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.”

Daniel 3:28 (NIV)

How you handle pain is a great witness to the world. When you trust God in spite of suffering, you’ll point unbelievers to him.

Frankly, you and I aren’t much of a witness when life is good. Anyone can serve God during those times. But tough times are a different story.

Remember the story of Daniel’s friends being tossed into the fire? They trusted God, and he rescued them in a miraculous manner. 

These guys impressed the king with their faith. And the king was the most powerful leader of that time.

The king said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God” (Daniel 3:28 NIV).

King Nebuchadnezzar recognized that these guys were willing to defy his order and risk death because they trusted God.

When you know what you’re willing to die for, that’s when you’re truly living. That kind of conviction will give you courage in the middle of the fire.

There are some trees that only sprout after a forest fire, including the jack pine tree of North America. The seeds are in the cones so tightly that they won’t come out unless intense heat comes along. After heat melts the resin, the seed is able to drop and germinate. Without heat, this process wouldn’t happen.

The same is true with us.

Sometimes God brings new life to others because they see us trust him through the fire.

If that’s where you are right now—going through the fire—you don’t have to figure it all out before you trust God. You can tell him right now that you believe he is with you, that he loves you, and that he is working for your good.

Ask him for help. But don’t wait for his answer to start trusting that he will bring you through the fire. And don’t wait to start telling others about his goodness—even in the middle of the fire.

El Mejor Regalo de Amor es la Atención

“Siempre que podamos, hagamos el bien a todos, especialmente a los que pertenecen a la familia de la fe”. Gálatas 6:10 (PDT)

La Biblia dice en Gálatas 6:10 “Siempre que podamos, hagamos el bien a todos, especialmente a los que pertenecen a la familia de la fe” (PDT). Entonces ¿por qué hay personas en la familia de Dios que reciben atención especial?

Porque a lo que le pongas más atención eso va a crecer. Si le pongo atención a mi jardín, va a crecer. Si les pongo atención a mis hijos, ellos van a crecer. Si le pongo atención a mi matrimonio, crecerá. Si le pongo atención a mi trabajo, va a crecer.

¿Cuál es la demostración más grande de amor? No son los diamantes, flores o chocolates. La demostración más grande de amor que puedes dar es tu atención. Puedes afirmar a las personas solo con mirarlas a los ojos, lo cual esencialmente les dice, “Yo te valoro. Lo que tengas que decir es importante porque tú eres importante para mí”. ¿En qué crees que las personas quieren más atención? Ellos quieren saber que sus opiniones importan, que sus vidas importan, que ellos son valiosos.

La esencia de las relaciones no es lo que hacemos unos por otros o que cosas nos damos mutuamente. La esencia de las relaciones es cuánto de nosotros mismos damos unos a otros.

No puedo decirte con cuántos hombres he hablado que me han dicho, “No entiendo. Proveo todo lo que mi familia necesita, le doy a mi esposa todo lo que necesita, les doy a mis hijos todo lo que necesitan. ¿Qué más quieren?”

¡Ellos te quieren a ti! Quieren tu tiempo. Quieren tu atención. Quieren tu enfoque. Quieren saber qué crees que ellos importan. Nada puede reemplazar el tiempo. Los hijos no necesitan cosas; necesitan tiempo. Los matrimonios necesitan tiempo y las amistades necesitan tiempo y las congregaciones necesitan tiempo.

Este fin de semana, busca oportunidades para mostrar atención a las personas en tu vida. ¡Lo cual es el regalo más grande de amor que puedes dar! Pero no esperes a que suceda; crea las oportunidades para hacerlo.

Si tienes que ponerlo en tu agenda, hazlo. Si tienes que cancelar tu tiempo en Netflix, hazlo. Si eso significa hacer a un lado el trabajo en la casa, hazlo. Si tienes que hacer sacrificios, hazlo. Haz lo que tengas que hacer para darle atención a tus relaciones. ¡Es esencial para el crecimiento!

Who Gets the Credit?

“There are no wise men, enchanters, magicians, or fortune-tellers who can reveal the king’s secret. But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and he has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the future. Now I will tell you your dream and the visions you saw as you lay on your bed.”

Daniel 2:27-28 (NLT)

Over the last few days in these devotionals, I’ve shown you what Daniel did when facing an impossible situation. The king had asked for someone to interpret an unusual dream. The king’s wise men couldn’t explain the meaning of the dream and that almost got them killed.

The stakes were high! But Daniel followed a biblical process that can help us too: Don’t panic, and then get the facts. Ask for more time. Gather prayer partners. Ask God for supernatural help. Worship God. And, use what you’ve learned to save others.

We also see that when God revealed truth, Daniel used the opportunity to point others to God.

The Bible says Daniel told the king, “There are no wise men, enchanters, magicians, or fortune-tellers who can reveal the king’s secret. But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and he has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the future. Now I will tell you your dream and the visions you saw as you lay on your bed” (Daniel 2:27-28 NLT). 

Daniel didn’t take credit for the amazing answer to the king’s dream. He knew God had given him the answer. So he was honest about that.

I don’t know about you, but if I were a 17-year-old boy and I did something to make the king happy, I’d be tempted to take a bit of the credit. Daniel did the praying. He did the listening. He did the obeying.

Couldn’t he have taken some credit? He could have, but he didn’t. Instead he made sure people knew that God was the one who had the power to deliver them.

God will do great things through a person who doesn’t care who gets the credit.

The Bible says the pagan king told Daniel, “Truly, your God is the greatest of gods, the Lord over kings, a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this secret” (Daniel 2:47 NLT).

How about that? A pagan leader acknowledged the true Creator of the universe.

When you spend your life pointing people to God, miracles happen.

Talk It Over

Think of someone you know who consistently points others to God when good things happen to them. What have you learned from this person about being a disciple?
How does pride keep us from giving our best to God’s mission in the world?
What are some practical steps that can shape a mindset that sees every good thing as a gift from God?

Where will you spend eternity?

God has already done the most impossible thing. He’s opened the door to heaven so that you can spend eternity with him. How did he make it possible for sinners such as you and me to join a perfect God in his perfect heaven?
 

“He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 NLT). Jesus died on the cross to pay for your sins. And then God raised Jesus from the dead. This opened the door to heaven for you.

You can’t earn your way into heaven: “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).

The Bible says you can only get to heaven by trusting in God’s Son, Jesus Christ. If you’re ready to commit your life to Jesus, start by praying this prayer:

“Dear God, you have promised that if I believe in your Son, Jesus Christ, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess I have sinned, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died to take away my sins and that you raised him to life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow him as Lord from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Cómo Orar por el Crecimiento Espiritual

“Epafras… siempre ora y pide que se mantengan fuertes, que lleguen a ser maduros”. Colosenses 4:12a (PDT)

Pablo escribió acerca de un guerrero de oración en Colosenses 4:12 “Epafras… siempre ora y pide que se mantengan fuertes, que lleguen a ser maduros” (PDT).

Epafras es un héroe para mí. Yo no sé tú, pero la oración es difícil para mí. Pensarás que viene naturalmente, pero no es así conmigo. Por eso me impresiona más que Epafras tuviera la disciplina de siempre tomar tiempo para orar por las personas.

Pero yo también amo el hecho de que él oraba por el crecimiento espiritual de las personas. Acostumbramos a orar por las necesidades de las personas –salud, finanzas y relaciones— pero casi nunca oramos por su crecimiento espiritual. No oramos que Dios pueda cambiar nuestro carácter para ser más como Él. Creo que una de las razones es que no sabemos cómo orar.

Afortunadamente la Biblia está llena con versículos sobre como orar para que alguien crezca espiritualmente.

“Pido, pues, que conozcan ese amor, que es mucho más grande que todo cuanto podemos conocer, para que lleguen a colmarse de la plenitud total de Dios” Efesios 3:19 (DHH). ¿Conoces a alguien que puede estar teniendo problemas y necesita el amor de Dios en su vida justo ahora? Piensa en ellos y di, “Dios, permíteles saber hoy cuanto los amas”.

Yo oro que Dios “los haga a ustedes perfectos y buenos en todo” Hebreos 13:21 (DHH). Padres, ¿no les gustaría orar así por sus hijos, que ellos no solo hagan lo que es correcto, sino que también tengan hambre de hacerlo? Oren por ellos ahora: “Dios, dales integridad”.

Yo oro “¡Que el Dios de la esperanza los llene de todo gozo y paz en la fe, para que rebosen de esperanza por el poder del Espíritu Santo!” Romanos 15:13 (RVC). ¿Quién no anhelaría más esperanza, alegría o paz en su vida? Oren, “Dios, yo conozco a alguien que necesita algo de esperanza. Ayúdalo a confiar en ti durante este tiempo difícil”.

“Pidiendo que el Dios de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, el Padre de gloria, os dé espíritu de sabiduría y de revelación en un mejor conocimiento de Él” Efesios 1:17 (LBLA). ¿Conoces a alguien que tiene que tomar una decisión? Pídele a Dios que le de sabiduría.

Yo oro a Dios “Que el Señor los lleve a amar como Dios ama, y a perseverar como Cristo perseveró” 2 Tesalonicenses 3:5 (NVI). ¿Alguien ha llegado a ese grado? Todavía no llegamos ahí. Pero podemos orar unos por los otros, que crezcamos por el resto de nuestras vidas para acercarnos más a eso. Ora ese versículo por alguien. 

“Le pido que, por medio del Espíritu y con el poder que procede de sus gloriosas riquezas, los fortalezca a ustedes en lo íntimo de su ser” Efesios 3:16 (NVI). ¿Conoces a alguien que se siente abrumado por la vida o que creen que tienen que hacer todo por sus propias fuerzas? Ora esto por ellos. Di, “Dios, ayúdales a entender que no están solos hoy. Dales la fuerza y poder”.

Help Others With What God Has Taught You

“Then Daniel went in to see Arioch, whom the king had ordered to execute the wise men of Babylon. Daniel said to him, ‘Don’t kill the wise men. Take me to the king, and I will tell him the meaning of his dream.’”

Daniel 2:24 (NLT)

When you’re faced with an impossibly big request, it’s easy to just give up. You figure that your boss should just find someone else. You guess that your spouse just doesn’t get you. You suspect your teacher isn’t paying attention to how many assignments they’ve given you.

But what if God has more in mind? What if the Lord put you in the situation because he wants you to help someone else?

You see this in the story of Daniel that we’ve been looking at over the last few days. We’ve seen Daniel provide a great pattern for us to follow when we’ve been given an impossible task:

1.  Don’t panic, and then get the facts.
2.  Ask for more time.
3.  Gather prayer partners.
4.  Ask God for supernatural help.
5.  Worship God.

Then, Daniel used what the Lord had shown him to save others. God saved Daniel from the impossible task, but he didn’t just do it for Daniel’s own good. He also wanted Daniel to help others. 

The Bible says, “Then Daniel went in to see Arioch, whom the king had ordered to execute the wise men of Babylon. Daniel said to him, ‘Don’t kill the wise men. Take me to the king, and I will tell him the meaning of his dream’” (Daniel 2:24 NLT).

God gave Daniel the answer to the king’s dream, but Daniel wouldn’t tell the king without ensuring the safety of the wise men—the Babylonian wise men! The Babylonians were the ones keeping Daniel in captivity.

God doesn’t want to just save you. He wants to save everyone. He wants to save your family and friends. He even wants to save your competitors and enemies. God cares about everyone.

And so should we.

That’s why you need to continue reaching out to people with the Good News about Jesus. God wants everyone to know him and his purpose for their lives.

That’s your witness and your mission in the world—and God can even use your trials to advance that mission.

Afirmas a Otros Aceptándolos

“Acéptense mutuamente, así como Cristo los aceptó a ustedes”.   Romanos 15:7 (NVI)

Te diré un pequeño secreto: Todo el mundo está en busca de afirmación. ¿Lo has notado? La gente hace cualquier cosa para recibir afirmación. Si no lo puedes creer, simplemente ve los programas de televisión “Casos reales”. Mira lo que la gente hace para salir en la televisión, sólo para que la gente los aplauda.

Dios es un Padre increíblemente amoroso y que afirma. Cuando afirmas a otras personas, estás demostrando el amor de Cristo y lo estás representando. Jesús afirmaba a la gente cuando les ministraba, de esta forma estás ministrando como lo hizo Jesús. Le estás mostrando al mundo un poco más acerca de cómo es Dios.

Una de las mejores maneras de afirmar a la gente en la vida cotidiana es mostrándoles aceptación. Romanos 15:7 dice, “Acéptense mutuamente, así como Cristo los aceptó a ustedes” (NVI).

La decisión más fácil a veces es ofender, menospreciar y denigrar a la gente, sobre todo cuando no cumplen con nuestros estándares. Todos tenemos la tendencia a tomar en lo que somos fuertes y proyectarlo a los demás y luego menospreciarlos cuando no cumplen con nuestras expectativas. Por ejemplo, es posible que seas una persona puntual y cuando otras personas no lo son, tiendes a menospreciarlas. Al mismo tiempo, te hace sentir bien contigo mismo porque eres mejor siendo puntual. O tal vez eres una persona muy ordenada que no puede dejar de notar cuando vas a casa de otras personas, que tan desordenadas están esas casas, esto te hace sentir mejor contigo mismo. Tenemos la tendencia de proyectar nuestras fortalezas en otras personas, olvidándonos que tenemos debilidades en otras áreas.

Déjame sugerirte una mejor forma de sentirte bien contigo mismo. En lugar de menospreciar a los demás, ¿por qué no intentas afirmarlos? Experimentarás una satisfacción incomparable.

La Biblia dice en Romanos 12:10, “Ámense los unos a los otros con amor fraternal, respetándose y honrándose mutuamente” (NVI).

Con el fin de hacer el trabajo de Dios, tú y yo tenemos que valorar las diferencias dadas por Dios entre nosotros y en la única forma en la que fuimos creados. Así es como sabes cuando has aceptado a alguien: dejas de insistir en que sean como tú. Te das cuenta y te regocijas en el hecho de que somos diferentes. La verdad del asunto es que el mundo sería un lugar aburrido si todos fuéramos iguales. Así que Dios nos ha creado de maneras muy diferentes para hacer todo tipo de cosas, para que todo se pueda llevar a cabo en este mundo.

El objetivo de una familia, un grupo pequeño, la comunidad de la iglesia o cualquier grupo comunitario no es moldear a las personas a su imagen, sino aceptarse y apoyarse mutuamente en el descubrimiento del propósito que Dios les ha dado.

Why You Need to Worship

“That night the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven.”

Daniel 2:19 (NLT)

Most of us don’t really know what to do when we’re confronted by an impossible situation. Did you know that a teenage boy from thousands of years ago can help?

Over the past few devotionals, we’ve learned some incredible principles from how Daniel dealt with an impossible request by the most powerful king of his time. So far we’ve seen Daniel take these four actions:

1.  Don’t panic, and then get all the facts.
2.  Ask for more time.
3.  Gather prayer partners.
4.  Ask God for supernatural help.

The next thing we learn from Daniel is to worship God.

It is important to understand that worship is much more than just music. There are thousands of ways to worship. Any time you turn your attention to God, that’s worship. When you express your love to God, that’s worship. You don’t have to be in church to worship.

Why should you worship? Because when you worship God, you move your focus off of your problem and onto God.

The Bible says, “That night the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven” (Daniel 2:19 NLT).

This passage shows you how to worship God in the midst of a crisis. When Daniel faced death, he prayed to God for wisdom and help. And God answered! Daniel said, “Praise the name of God forever and ever, for he has all wisdom and power. He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars. He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light. I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors, for you have given me wisdom and strength. You have told me what we asked of you and revealed to us what the king demanded” (Daniel 2:19-23 NLT).

Daniel did three things: He praised God for who he is, he honored God for what he does, and he thanked God for his help.

That’s worship. Do that, and you’ll move the focus off of you and your problems and put it on God—and he’s always where our focus should be.

Cambiar Requiere una Comunidad Honesta

“Ya que han oído sobre Jesús y han conocido la verdad que procede de él, desháganse de su vieja naturaleza pecaminosa y de su antigua manera de vivir, que está corrompida por la sensualidad y el engaño. En cambio, dejen que el Espíritu les renueve los pensamientos y las actitudes. Pónganse la nueva naturaleza, creada para ser a la semejanza de Dios, quien es verdaderamente justo y santo. Así que dejen de decir mentiras. Digamos siempre la verdad a todos porque nosotros somos miembros de un mismo cuerpo”.  Efesios 4:21-25 (NTV)

Para poder cambiar los defectos en tu vida, es necesario contar con alguien que te diga la verdad. Tu no podrás mejorar por ti mismo, vas a necesitar de gente en tu vida que te pueda dar apoyo. Vas a necesitar un grupo pequeño. Para poder cambiar es necesario contar con una comunidad honesta.

En tu vida habrá cosas que no podrás cambiar sin el apoyo de alguien, típicamente las cosas más difíciles de cambiar son aquellas que no quieres que nadie sepa.

No podrás superar estas cosas hasta que las compartas con alguien. No tienes que decirle a todo el mundo, pero si necesitas encontrar una persona en la que confías plenamente. Alguien que sea un confidente, alguien que te ame incondicionalmente, alguien que no te juzgue y que ore por ti. Revelar tu sentimiento es el comienzo de tu sanidad.

Esto no significa que compartirás esto en un grupo pequeño donde todo el mundo está “bien” o “fantástico”. Tienes que sentirte totalmente cómodo con tu grupo donde ya haya una madurez espiritual en todos y puedas decir, “tuve una semana terrible, mi vida es un desastre, quiero hablar con alguien”.

“Así que dejen de decir mentiras. Digamos siempre la verdad a todos porque nosotros somos miembros de un mismo cuerpo” Efesios 4:25 (NTV).

Si eres un creyente, perteneces a Dios. Eres parte de la familia de Dios, todos los otros creyentes también te pertenecen a ti. No podrás transformarte hasta que realmente pertenezcas al cuerpo de Cristo y llegar hacer todo lo que Él quiere que seas. Dios quiere que pertenezcas a un grupo o a una comunidad honesta, donde no haya falsedad. Habla con tu compañero, di a tus amigos la verdad, se honesto con la gente que quieres para que pertenezcan uno al otro en verdad.

Si realmente quieres cambiar los malos hábitos y defectos más profundos dentro de tu corazón, vas a tener que enfrentarte al temor de ser honesto. Tienes que parar de ser falso y acabar con las apariencias. Tienes que ser real.

Puedes seguir tu vida con una de estas dos opciones: pretender que todo está bien en tu vida y sentir que tienes el control de todo, pero sabiendo en realidad que nunca estarás en control y que nunca vas a sanarte hasta que pares de pretender, o liberarte de esas cosas que envenenan tu vida hablando con alguien al respecto.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Cómo describirías el nivel de transparencia de tu grupo pequeño? ¿Están siendo “reales/honestos” unos con los otros?¿Cuál ha sido el resultado de pretender que todo está bajo control? ¿Cómo te sientes al respecto?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Ask God for the Impossible

“‘Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’”

Jeremiah 33:3 (MSG)

When you’re put in an impossible situation, your talent, logic, and education won’t solve your problem.

Only God can.

That’s why you pray and ask God for his supernatural help. God told Jeremiah, who lived at the same time as Daniel and knew what was happening in Babylon, “‘Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own” (Jeremiah 33:3 MSG). God wants to help you!

Daniel asked God for spiritual wisdom when King Nebuchadnezzar asked him to interpret a dream.

Daniel needed the Lord to show him what he would never be able figure out on his own. He could guess for a thousand years and never figure out the king’s dream. But God could tell him in an instant.

The Bible says, “You do not have what you want because you do not ask God for it” (James 4:2 GNT).

So many times we miss out on God’s best simply because we never ask him for it.

I’ve seen God do this over and over again in my life. I’ve faced big odds that I couldn’t fathom solving on my own. So I prayed.

And God has answered. My life is a series of answered prayers, and I want God to do the same for you.

You can ask God for his best for your life! God never shuts his storehouse until we shut our mouths. Start praying and asking God for help—and expect him to answer.

That’s called praying in faith. James 1:5-6 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt” (NIV).

Daniel believed he could interpret the king’s dream—but only with God’s help. So he asked God for it and expected him to answer.

When you show that kind of faith, God will generously give you what you need to do the impossible.
