Dios Provee a Través de Cualquier Fuente

“Recuerda al Señor tu Dios, porque es él quien te da el poder para producir esa riqueza; así ha confirmado hoy su pacto que bajo juramento hizo con tus antepasados”. Deuteronomio 8:18 (NVI)

La Biblia enseña que Dios es la fuente de nuestras finanzas. Él es quien provee para nuestras necesidades.

Deuteronomio 8:18 dice: “Recuerda al Señor tu Dios, porque es él quien te da el poder para producir esa riqueza; así ha confirmado hoy su pacto que bajo juramento hizo con tus antepasados” (NVI).

Entonces, ¿qué significa eso para tu vida diaria? Significa que, en lugar de buscar seguridad financiera en tu empleador, miras a Dios. Significa que, en lugar de buscar seguridad financiera en tu cuenta de ahorros, miras a Dios. Significa que no miras a nadie ni a nada más que a Dios para que provea para tus necesidades.

Permíteme ilustrarlo de esta manera: cuando abres el agua, sabes que en realidad no proviene del grifo, sino que sale por el grifo. El agua proviene de un depósito o de un pozo, y la forma en que la recibes es a través del grifo.

De la misma manera, los ingresos que Dios quiere darte pueden provenir de un trabajo o de algo o de alguien más.

Pero la fuente siempre es Dios.

No necesitas preocuparte por cual grifo usa Dios para satisfacer tus necesidades. En cierto sentido, Él dice: “Si cierro un grifo, puedo abrir otro con la misma facilidad. Si pierdes un trabajo, puedo darte otro. Su trabajo no es tu fuente. Su cuenta bancaria no es tu fuente. Yo soy tu fuente”.

La preocupación revela los lugares en los que no estamos confiando en Dios. Pídele a Dios que te ayude a entender qué es lo que te hace no confiar en Él, y luego pídele que te enseñe a comenzar a confiar en Él. Ve cómo lo hace.

Y cuando comiences a preocuparte, habla con Dios acerca de tus inquietudes.

Your Courage Is Contagious

“I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end.”

Daniel 6:26 (NIV)

It’s tough sometimes to stand up for what you know God wants and expects when others ridicule your faith.

But when you stand up when everyone else is sitting down, you’ll draw unbelievers to God.

That’s because courage is contagious. You never know how many people will join you until you courageously step out in faith.

Most people are waiting for someone to demonstrate faith. They’re waiting for someone to demonstrate faith. The faith and courage of one person can ignite it in others.

This was true in Daniel’s life. When Daniel bravely stood up for God and publicly prayed to the true God (instead of worshipping King Darius), he got tossed into a den of hungry lions. But as we’ve seen in recent devotionals, God rescued Daniel.

And King Darius took notice.

The Bible says of the pagan king: “Then King Darius wrote to all the nations and peoples of every language in all the earth: ‘May you prosper greatly! I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end. He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.’ So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian” (Daniel 6:25-28 NIV).

Pagan kings don’t issue decrees like that. It’s obvious that Darius became a follower of the one true God. Daniel showed courage and stood up for God in the midst of a very difficult situation. And Daniel’s witness for God led to Darius’ decision to follow God.

Your courage may benefit you, like it did for Daniel. But it’s not just for your own good.

When you stand up for God, wherever you are, other people will take notice. God will use your courage to help others respond with courage in their own trials.

Courage—real, God-honoring courage—draws people to God.

Talk It Over

Why do you think courage is contagious?
How have you been motivated by someone else’s courage and faith?
What step of faith can you take this week that will show courage and possibly motivate others to do the same?

Jesus is your unshakable foundation.

Jesus is your salvation, a fortress where you won’t be shaken.

He said, “These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life. . . . They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock” (Matthew 7:24-25 MSG).

Jesus’ love is unconditional. He promises to be with you forever. He is the unshakable foundation who will help you become unshakable. But the first step is to accept his promise of salvation.

If you’re ready to commit your life to Jesus, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, you have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I receive you into my life as my Lord and Savior. I trust you when you say salvation comes by grace, through faith, and not by anything I do. Today I’m turning over every part of my life to your management.

“I’m grateful for your unconditional love. I want to use the rest of my life to love and serve you instead of serving myself. I commit my life to you and ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

El Porqué de Tu Oración es Más Importante que lo que Pides

“Y cuando piden, no reciben porque piden con malas intenciones, para satisfacer sus propias pasiones”. Santiago 4:3 (NVI)

Dios quiere bendecir tu vida y luego verte bendecir la vida de otras personas con los mismos beneficios que Él te da a ti. De hecho, una condición para que la oración sea respondida es la voluntad de usar las bendiciones de Dios para ayudar a los menos afortunados.

Proverbios 21:13 dice: “El que se niega a tenderle la mano al pobre, tampoco recibirá ayuda cuando la necesite” (PDT). Dios está diciendo que, si ignoras a quienes te rodean y que están en evidentes dificultades, no tiene sentido esperar que Él te rescate de tus propias dificultades.

Dios quiere que seas como Él, y Dios es amor. Una de las formas en que demuestras que tienes amor es que estás dispuesto a ser generoso con otras personas. El principio de la mayordomía se repite a lo largo de las Escrituras: Dios nos bendice para que seamos una bendición para otras personas.

Por ejemplo, puedes pedirle a Dios que te conceda buena salud, pero ¿qué vas a hacer con ese cuerpo sano? ¿Estás orando sólo para ayudarte a ti mismo, o estás orando para poder ayudar a otras personas también? Cuando le pides a Dios que bendiga tu negocio o carrera, ¿estás dispuesto a devolver una parte de lo que Dios te ha concedido?

La Biblia dice en Santiago 4:3: “Y cuando piden, no reciben porque piden con malas intenciones, para satisfacer sus propias pasiones” (NVI). El motivo es importante en la oración. El motivo de nuestra oración es más importante que lo que pides.

¿Es posible orar por lo correcto con el motivo equivocado? Por supuesto. No estoy diciendo que nunca debas orar por tus propias necesidades personales. Jesús dice que oremos: “Danos hoy el pan nuestro de cada día” Mateo 6:11 (LBLA). Pero tienes que examinar tu motivación. ¿Estás dispuesto a compartir tu bendición con otras personas o vas a acapararla toda para ti?

A Dios no le interesa simplemente satisfacer tu egoísmo. Las condiciones de la oración son que tengas una relación honesta con Dios, una actitud de perdón hacia otras personas y la voluntad de compartir las bendiciones de Dios con otras personas. Dios te ama, por eso te está enseñando a orar de manera eficaz.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Cómo has visto a un seguidor de Jesús usar las bendiciones de Dios para bendecir a otras personas? ¿Cómo ha afectado eso tu vida o la vida de otra persona?¿Cómo te ha bendecido Dios? ¿Cómo puedes compartir esas bendiciones con los demás?Durante tu próximo tiempo a solas con Dios, piensa en el motivo de tu oración. Si Dios te da las cosas que pides, ¿estás dispuesto a compartirlas con los demás?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Overcome Fear by Standing Up for God

“Lord, take notice of the threats they have made, and allow us, your servants, to speak your message with all boldness.”

Acts 4:29 (GNT)

We all have fears. Too often, though, we let those fears rule our lives and stop us from following God’s plan. When you face people and situations that threaten to destroy you and your witness for Christ, the choice is yours: Will you succumb to your fears, or will you stand up for God in spite of those fears?

Fear grows. Every time you give in to it, it becomes more intense. And as fear grows, your life shrinks.

So what’s the alternative? Every time you follow God instead of giving into fear, you win a victory over fear.

The early Christians are a good example of how this works. They faced all kinds of persecution, and the book of Acts shows how God worked through the lives of these believers as they stood up to their fears.

Acts 4 tells the story of Peter and John coming up against fierce opposition when they boldly proclaimed Jesus. So they prayed, “Lord, take notice of the threats they have made, and allow us, your servants, to speak your message with all boldness” (Acts 4:29 GNT).

And so the answer to your fear isn’t to give in to it. It’s to move forward boldly in spite of your fear. When you’re afraid, stand up to the fear. Fear doesn’t respond to logic, so your only chance to get rid of the fear is to trust God and face it. 

Never, ever forget this: God won’t part the Jordan River in front of you until you take your first step. (See how God did this for Elijah and Elisha in 2 Kings 2:8.). You take a step of faith, and then God shows you the path. But that won’t happen if you stand stuck in your fear.

Take a step in faith today and watch your fear disappear as God opens the path before you.

Talk It Over

How have you seen fear grow in your life because you gave in to it? How have you seen fear diminish in your life because you stepped out boldly for God?
What fears are you finding difficult to overcome right now? Why?
What does it look like practically to give your fears to God?

Are you tired of being imprisoned by fear?

You can pray this simple prayer right now: “Dear God, I'm tired of pretending and people-pleasing and the stress of trying to be perfect when I can't be. I'm tired of holding on to hurt and memories that continue to cause pain in my life. I’m tired of being afraid of rejection and afraid of letting people see who I really am. I want to let it all go.

“Lord, I bring you everything that has brought me shame, regret, resentment, and worry. I don't want to live that way anymore! I want to live a life of freedom, and I know that can only be found through your Son, Jesus Christ.

“Today, I confess my sin to you and ask you to forgive me. Thank you, Jesus, that you made a way for me to be forgiven and accepted because of what you did on the cross and your resurrection. I submit to you as Lord of my life and want to follow you for the rest of my life. Please fill me with your love and hope and help me to walk in faith. Drive out my fear. I ask this in your name. Amen.”

Cómo Mantener la Confianza en Dios Durante las Demoras

“Amados hermanos, tengan paciencia mientras esperan el regreso del Señor. Piensen en los agricultores, que con paciencia esperan las lluvias en el otoño y la primavera. Con ansias esperan a que maduren los preciosos cultivos. Ustedes también deben ser pacientes. Anímense, porque la venida del Señor está cerca”. Santiago 5:7-8 (NTV)

Sean cuales sean los problemas que estén afrontando, debes recordar que Dios está trabajando detrás de escena. Debes confiar en Él y ser paciente.

Pero ¿cómo lo haces? ¿Qué haces mientras esperan? ¿Cómo construyes una fe que confía en Dios durante las demoras?

La Biblia dice: “Amados hermanos, tengan paciencia mientras esperan el regreso del Señor. Piensen en los agricultores, que con paciencia esperan las lluvias en el otoño y la primavera. Con ansias esperan a que maduren los preciosos cultivos. Ustedes también deben ser pacientes. Anímense, porque la venida del Señor está cerca” Santiago 5:7-8 (NTV).

Como un granjero, debes esperar con expectación. Mientras los granjeros esperan, se preparan para la cosecha. Se preparan. No se quedan sentados pensando: “Me pregunto si esto va a crecer o no”. Esperan que sus cultivos crezcan. Se preparan para la cosecha para que cuando llegue, puedan cosechar los beneficios.

Por lo tanto, esperas que Dios actúe y provea. El Salmo 130:5 dice: “En Dios he puesto mi esperanza; con toda el alma confío en él, pues confío en sus promesas” (TLA). Esa promesa está en toda la Biblia, en versículos como Isaías 49:23: “Y reconocerás que yo soy el Señor, y que los que en mí confían no quedan defraudados” (DHH).

¿Qué has estado esperando que Dios haga? Tal vez has estado esperando que transforme tu matrimonio, resuelva un problema financiero, sane una herida o alcance a alguien de tu familia que no es creyente. Sea lo que sea que has estado esperando que Dios haga en tu vida, ¿realmente esperas que lo haga? Si no te preparas mientras esperas, en realidad no estás esperando que suceda nada.

Muy a menudo, cuando pensamos que estamos esperando a Dios, Dios en realidad nos está esperando a nosotros. Puede que no estés listo para manejar la bendición que Él quiere darte, y por eso Él está esperando que madures espiritualmente.

Una cosa que te ayudará a esperar pacientemente a Dios es recordar su bondad y gracia. Él está trabajando en tu vida, incluso cuando no puedes ver lo que está haciendo e incluso si piensas que su tiempo es demasiado lento.

Quédate quieto, pasa tiempo en la Palabra de Dios y aprende a ser más como Jesús. Luego, ocúpate de hacer el trabajo que te preparará para la cosecha.

How to Miss Heaven by 18 Inches

“Some of these people have missed the most important thing in life—they don’t know God.”

1 Timothy 6:21 (TLB)

There are 18 inches between your head and your heart. But unfortunately, some people will miss heaven by those 18 inches. They know God in their heads but not in their hearts. They intellectually believe the gospel, but they’ve never let it change their hearts.

I went to school for a long time—a total of 24 years when you include my master’s and doctorate degrees. Honestly, I’ve forgotten much of what I learned during that time.

But I’ve never forgotten the most important truth I’ve ever learned: We were made by God and for God. Until we understand that, life will never make sense.

You were not made for your own sake.

The Bible says, “Some of these people have missed the most important thing in life—they don’t know God” (1 Timothy 6:21 TLB).

You might know string theory, chaos theory, or quantum physics. But if you don’t know God, you’ve missed the purpose of your life.

At the end of your life, God will give you a final test. Here’s the good news: It’ll be an open-book exam. All the answers are in the Bible!

On that test, God won’t ask you if you got straight As. He won’t care about how well you did in your career. He won’t ask to see your bank account balance.

Instead, he’ll ask you this: Did you get to know me? Did you build a relationship with my Son, who died on the cross for you?

Decide today that you will set your heart and mind on learning more about the most important truth and getting to know Jesus.

Then, make a plan. Getting to know God doesn’t happen by accident. And it doesn’t happen by waiting for a convenient time to study God’s Word. If you wait for an open spot in your schedule to spend time with God, it will never happen!

Instead, make time for God. Show him that you want to know him more than anything by making him your priority. Say “no” to other things—even good things—so you can give your best to the most important thing.

Cómo Tener Confianza en Tiempos de Incertidumbre

“Ustedes también deben ser pacientes. Anímense, porque la venida del Señor está cerca”. Santiago 5:8 (NTV)

Hoy en día puede ser difícil distinguir lo que es verdad de lo que no. Recibimos información contradictoria de múltiples fuentes. Parece que hay estudios y expertos, investigaciones y encuestas que se contradicen entre sí.

Cuando las cosas parecen inciertas, podemos permanecer seguros de esta verdad: Dios está en control.

La Biblia dice: “Amados hermanos, tengan paciencia mientras esperan el regreso del Señor. Piensen en los agricultores, que con paciencia esperan las lluvias en el otoño y la primavera. Con ansias esperan a que maduren los preciosos cultivos. Ustedes también deben ser pacientes. Anímense, porque la venida del Señor está cerca.

Hermanos, no se quejen unos de otros, o serán juzgados. ¡Pues miren, el Juez ya está a la puerta!” Santiago 5:7-9 (NVI).

¿Por qué Santiago nos recuerda varias veces en este pasaje que el Señor regresará? Porque es la prueba definitiva de que Dios tiene el control.

La historia es la historia de Dios. No es circular. No hay un círculo de vida. La historia es lineal y se está moviendo hacia un clímax. Dios tiene un plan. Dios tiene un propósito. Y un día Jesús va a regresar.

Todo está programado. No sabemos cuándo regresará, pero la Biblia habla más sobre la segunda venida de Jesús que sobre su primera venida. Eso significa que deberíamos cambiar la forma en que vivimos nuestras vidas todos los días. ¡Deberíamos vivir con gran expectativa!

Aunque tu situación pueda parecer fuera de control y sentirse dolorosa, nada está fuera del control de Dios. Sea paciente. El tiempo de Dios es perfecto. Él nunca llega tarde. Él siempre tiene el control.

Santiago 5:8 dice: “Ustedes también deben ser pacientes. Anímense, porque la venida del Señor está cerca” (NTV).

¿Cuál es la certeza suprema? Jesús va a regresar un día. Y nada puede detenerlo. Ninguna persona. Ningún poder. Saber que toda la historia está bajo el control de Dios y que Jesús ha prometido regresar debería brindarte toda la confianza que necesitas en tiempos de incertidumbre.

Cuando sientas que no puedes contar con nada más, confía en la verdad: Dios se encarga de esto. Y Jesús regresará pronto para arreglar y renovar todas las cosas.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Qué significa vivir con la expectativa del regreso de Jesús?¿Saber que Dios tiene el control de la historia te brinda consuelo y confianza? ¿Por qué o por qué no?¿En qué momentos necesitas recordar que Dios está al control? ¿Cómo lo has visto trabajando ya en esa área?

¿Qué harás cuando Jesús regrese?

La Biblia dice que solo puedes llegar al cielo confiando en el Hijo de Dios, Jesucristo. No puedes ganarte la entrada al cielo: “Porque por gracia ustedes han sido salvados mediante la fe. Esto no procede de ustedes, sino que es el regalo de Dios y no por obras, para que nadie se jacte” Efesios 2:8-9 (NVI).

Si estás listo para entregar tu vida a Jesús, comienza por hacer esta oración:

“Querido Dios, has prometido que, si creo en tu Hijo, Jesucristo, todo lo malo que haya hecho será perdonado, aprenderé el propósito de mi vida y me aceptarás en tu hogar eterno en el cielo un día.

Confieso que he pecado y te pido perdón. Creo que Jesús murió para quitar mis pecados y que tú lo resucitaste. Quiero confiar en Jesús como mi Salvador y seguirlo como Señor desde este día en adelante. Guía mi vida y ayúdame a hacer tu voluntad. En el nombre de Jesús, te lo pido. Amén”.

You Can Know Something Without Learning It

“You are his successor, O Belshazzar, and you knew all this, yet you have not humbled yourself.”

Daniel 5:22 (NLT)

God won’t teach you something new until you’ve put into practice what he’s already taught you.

He isn’t in the business of simply satisfying your curiosity. He tells you something and waits for you to act on it. Once you act on it, then you get to go to the next step.

You see, God wants you to apply the truth you’ve learned—and you haven’t learned something until you’ve done it.

It’s not enough for you to tell people you believe the Bible. You must do what the Bible teaches. If you don’t do what the Bible teaches, then you don’t really believe it. 

That’s what we see in the story of Belshazzar in the book of Daniel. He lost everything because he didn’t put into practice what God had already taught him.

The Bible records Daniel telling him, “You are his successor, O Belshazzar, and you knew all this, yet you have not humbled yourself” (Daniel 5:22 NLT).

Belshazzar saw Nebuchadnezzar literally lose his mind for about seven years because of pride. He saw all the mistakes his grandfather made. He saw his grandfather come back and correct those things. He saw the good and the bad in Nebuchadnezzar’s life, but he chose to ignore the lessons from God.

And God took away his kingdom. 

Belshazzar knew, but he didn’t learn. We need to understand the difference between knowing and learning. You can know a lot of things, but if you don’t act on them, you haven’t learned anything.

We don’t always need to know more. We already know enough! We need to put into practice what we know. Jesus said in John 13:17, “Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them” (NIV). The simplest definition of spiritual maturity is to be a doer of the Word.

So don’t just read God’s Word. Do what it says. God will support you as you step forward in faith, applying the things he’s taught you to do.

Talk It Over

Would you rather be known for knowing God’s Word or doing God’s Word? Why?
Is there something God has taught you that you haven’t put into practice yet? If so, are you willing to take that step so you can keep growing?
What happens when you start looking for opportunities to apply what you have learned from God’s Word throughout your day? Try it today, and pay attention to the results.

Where will you spend eternity?

Your sins separate you from God. And it is only God’s grace that allows you back into a right relationship with him.

The Bible says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).


If you’re ready to make peace with your Creator, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, I don’t want my sin to separate me from you any longer. You have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I believe you are my Savior. You have promised that if I confess my sin and trust you, I will be saved. I believe you when you say salvation comes by grace, through faith, and not by anything I do. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning over every part of my life to your management.

“I want to live the way you created me to live and use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I commit my life to you and ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

¿Cómo Responde Dios a Tu Generosidad?

“Dios puede darles a ustedes con abundancia toda clase de bendiciones, para que tengan siempre todo lo necesario y además les sobre para ayudar en toda clase de buenas obras”. 2 Corintios 9:8 (DHH)

Escuché una historia acerca de un hombre que llevó a su hijo a un McDonald’s y le compró una ración doble de papas fritas. De regreso a casa, las papas olían tan bien, que él sacó una pequeña papita del cartón de su hijo, y se la comió. Su hijo reaccionó muy molesto y dijo: “Papá, no puedes hacer eso. ¡Estas son mis papas!” De inmediato el padre tuvo tres pensamientos:

“Primero, mi hijo ha olvidado que yo soy la fuente de todas las papas. Yo lo llevé al McDonald’s, yo hice el pedido, yo lo pagué, yo se las entregue a él y yo estoy llevando de vuelta a casa. La única causa por la que él tiene las papas fritas es porque yo existo, ¡el Gran Dador de Papas Fritas!

“Segundo, mi hijo no se da cuenta de que, si yo quisiera, le podría quitar las papas en un instante. O, por el contrario, podría comprar un gran cargamento de papas fritas si quisiera, porque tengo el poder y la capacidad para hacer una u otra cosa.

“Tercero, yo no necesito sus papas fritas. Fácilmente podría conseguir mis propias papas fritas. Me podría comprar cien cartones si lo quisiera. Y sólo quiero que él aprenda a no ser egoísta”.

Esas tres lecciones son las mismas que Dios quiere enseñarte de tal forma que puedas ser generoso con los demás. Primero, Dios quiere recordarte que Él es la fuente de todo lo que tienes. Tú no tendrías nada — ¡ni siquiera estarías vivo! —  si no fuera por Dios. Él escogió crearte y darte todas las cosas que tienes. Segundo, Dios puede quitarte todo en un instante, o podría doblarlo, porque Él tiene ese poder. Tercero, Dios no necesita tu dinero. Sólo quiere que aprendas a no ser egoísta y que seas generoso. Él quiere desarrollar tu fe.

¿Qué sucede cuando comienzas a ser una persona más generosa? La Biblia dice en 2 Corintios 9:8, “Dios puede darles a ustedes con abundancia toda clase de bendiciones, para que tengan siempre todo lo necesario y además les sobre para ayudar en toda clase de buenas obras” (DHH).

Dios dice que si practicas la generosidad, te dará todo lo que necesitas y más, para que tengas suficiente para compartir con los demás. Él busca un canal y cuando lo encuentra—alguien que esté dispuesto a decir: “Dios, úsame para ser una bendición para los demás”—comienza a derramar bendiciones a través de esa persona.

Si aprendes a ser generoso, Dios te bendecirá más de lo que puedas imaginar.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿De qué manera la forma en que usas y tratas tus posesiones y recursos refleja tu comprensión de que todo pertenece a Dios?Si Dios fuera a quitarte todas las cosas hoy, ¿cómo responderías?¿Qué puedes hacer para dar generosamente a alguien esta semana?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Be Humble or You’ll Stumble

“Fear-of-GOD is a school in skilled living—first you learn humility, then you experience glory.”

Proverbs 15:33 (MSG)

Wise people remain humble. Humility and teachability go together. Be humble or you’ll stumble.

Humility begins by simply realizing you’re not God. Whenever you get stressed, repeat this to yourself: “God is God, and I’m not. God is God, and I’m not. God is God, and I’m not.”

That’s humility. People who aren’t humble think they’re God or think they have ultimate control. They think they’re done learning and have it all figured out.

The Bible says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6 HCSB).

Do you have a goal of becoming a wiser person? It’s one of the best requests you can make of God. Why? Because he wants to give you his wisdom, and he wants to bless the things you pursue with his wisdom.

If you want to be wise, then get to know God. The more time you spend with God, the wiser you’ll be in building relationships, managing money, handling conflict, diffusing problems, and dealing with all kinds of other challenges in life.

The Bible tells us, “Fear-of-GOD is a school in skilled living—first you learn humility, then you experience glory” (Proverbs 15:33 MSG).

Have you ever heard something so counter-cultural? First you learn humility, and then you experience glory. Successful people who walk with Jesus have learned that they don’t know it all—and they’ve learned to depend on the only one who does.

The glory the Bible talks about is also not like most people imagine. You can have it all in this world and not experience true glory if you are not following Jesus. When you submit yourself to Jesus, the glory you’ll experience won’t come from your success. It will come from knowing and loving Jesus and seeing him face-to-face one day.

You don’t get there by making more of yourself but by humbling yourself and being in awe of God.

Humility says you can learn from anyone. You don’t know it all. No one does! That’s why we need to remain teachable, humble, and lifelong learners.
