¿Tienes Temor de Tomar la Decisión Equivocada?

“Me guía por sendas correctas, y así da honra a su nombre”. Salmos 23:3 (NTV)

Con frecuencia nos da temor tomar malas decisiones, y eso crea estrés.

Quizás estás enfrentando una decisión de mayor tamaño: “¿Debería seguir aguantándolo o debería abandonarlo?”, “¿Debería entrar o debería salir?”, “¿Debería casarme?”, “¿Debería conseguir un nuevo trabajo?, “¿Debería mudarme?”.

Cuando no puedes tomar una decisión, vacilas por la vida. De hecho, la Biblia dice en Santiago 1 que cuando dudamos nos volvemos inestables en todo lo que hacemos. La palabra griega para inestable literalmente significa “tambaleando como ebrio”.

Pero Dios dice que hay un antídoto para nuestra indecisión. Salmo 23:3 dice “Me guía por sendas correctas, y así da honra a su nombre” (NTV). Manejamos el estrés de tomar decisiones dejando que Dios nos guíe.

Puedes estar pensando, “¡Pero es que lo he intentado!”. Le pediste a Dios que te ayudara, pero después te confundiste más que antes. Y todavía no puedes dar con la respuesta. Ahora te preguntas, “¿Por qué conocer a Dios es tan complicado?”.

¿Es que Dios está jugando con nosotros? ¡Por supuesto que no! Dios quiere guiarnos. Él quiere que conozcamos su voluntad más de lo que nosotros queremos conocerla. Nuestro problema es que usualmente miramos al lado equivocado cuando estamos intentando encontrar la voluntad de Dios.

Por ejemplo, alguno de nosotros buscamos “un sentimiento”. Queremos ser abatidos por alguna emoción para que podamos decir, “¡Así es como sé cuál es la voluntad de Dios!” otros buscamos un acercamiento metódico a Su voluntad. Queremos que alguien nos dé una receta o una fórmula que seguir. Algunos de nosotros queremos un acercamiento mágico. Estamos esperando que Dios haga alguna señal fantasiosa — que se escriba en el cielo, o que nos llamen por teléfono, o que nos envíen un correo electrónico.

Todos estos caminos conllevan a la frustración y causa que nos perdamos de la voluntad de Dios. Esta no es una fórmula, un sentimiento o algo que Él quiera que nos sintamos frustrados o con temor.

Dios no quiere que te confundas o te estreses por tomar alguna decisión. Él está ahí, guiándote en cada paso del camino.

Faith Is Thanking God in Advance

“When you pray and ask for something, believe that you have received it, and you will be given whatever you ask for.”

Mark 11:24 (GNT)

Faith is not just believing God can do something. Faith is not just hoping he will do something. Faith is thanking God in advance.

Jesus said, “When you pray and ask for something, believe that you have received it, and you will be given whatever you ask for” (Mark 11:24 GNT).

When you thank God after you’ve got it, that’s gratitude. When you thank him in advance, that’s faith.

Gratitude is good and right. But your goal should be to become a person of deeper faith. To do that, you have to thank God in advance.

If I handed you a check right now for one hundred dollars, would you wait until you cashed it to thank me? No! You’d thank me right now. But the money wouldn’t be yours until you actually cashed it, because that check is really a promise. When I gave you that check, you’d say, “Thank you, Rick.” You’d believe that I was credible and that I had enough money in the bank to cover a check for one hundred dollars.

In the same way, faith is thanking God in advance. It’s believing that what God has promised, he will provide. It’s saying you love God for who he is and not just what he can do for you. It’s showing you trust him to do what he’s said he will do.

One day two blind men followed Jesus to the home where he was staying. They shouted at him to have mercy on them, and Jesus asked them if they had faith that he could heal them. They answered that they believed, and Jesus said, “Because of your faith, it will happen” (Matthew 9:29 NLT).

What I’m saying is this: If God tells you to go after Moby Dick in a rowboat, take the tartar sauce with you. You’re going to have a fish fry tonight!

Talk It Over

The truth is, God doesn’t say “yes” to all of our prayers. How can you continue to pray in faith even when God says “no,” “not yet,” or “wait?”

Tu Vida es Controlada por tus Pensamientos

“Ante todo, cuida tus pensamientos porque ellos controlan tu vida”.
Proverbios 4:23 (PDT)

Dios está mucho más interesado en cambiar tu mente que en cambiar tus circunstancias.

Tú quieres que Dios se lleve todos los problemas, el dolor, la pena, el sufrimiento, la enfermedad y la tristeza. Pero Dios quiere trabajar primero en ti, porque la transformación no sucederá en tu vida hasta que renueves tu mente, hasta que tus pensamientos comiencen a cambiar.

¿Por qué es tan importante que aprendas a administrar tu mente? Permíteme darte tres razones:

Administra tu mente, porque tus pensamientos controlan tu vida.

Proverbios 4:23 dice, “Ante todo, cuida tus pensamientos porque ellos controlan tu vida” (PDT). Tus pensamientos tienen una tremenda habilidad para controlar tu vida para bien o para mal. Por ejemplo, tal vez aceptes los pensamientos que alguien te dijo cuando estabas creciendo, “No vales nada. No importas”. Si aceptaste ese pensamiento, aunque esté equivocado, eso controlará tu vida.

Administra tu mente, porque la mente es el campo de batalla para el pecado.

Toda la tentación sucede en la mente. Pablo dijo en Romanos 7:22-23 “En lo más profundo de mi corazón amo la ley de Dios. Pero también me sucede otra cosa: hay algo dentro de mí, que lucha contra lo que creo que es bueno. Trato de obedecer la ley de Dios, pero me siento como en una cárcel, donde lo único que puedo hacer es pecar. Sinceramente, deseo obedecer la ley de Dios, pero no puedo dejar de pecar porque mi cuerpo es débil para obedecerla” (TLA).

Una de las razones porque te fatigas mentalmente es porque hay una batalla en tu cerebro 24 horas al día. Es debilitante porque es intensa, y es intensa porque tu mente es tu más grande posesión. ¡Satanás quiere tu mayor recurso!

Administra tu mente, porque es la clave para la paz y la felicidad.

Una mente no administrada lleva a la tensión. Una mente administrada lleva a la tranquilidad. Una mente no administrada lleva al conflicto. Una mente administrada lleva a la confianza. Una mente no administrada lleva al estrés. Cuando no tratas de controlar tu mente y la forma en la que diriges tus pensamientos, tendrás una increíble cantidad de estrés en tu vida. Pero una mente administrada te lleva a la fortaleza, la seguridad y la serenidad.

“Por lo tanto, permitir que la naturaleza pecaminosa les controle la mente lleva a la muerte. Pero permitir que el Espíritu les controle la mente lleva a la vida y a la paz” Romanos 8:6 (NTV).

Tell It Like God Wants It to Be

“[God] speaks of future events with as much certainty as though they were already past.”

Romans 4:17 (TLB)

Your words have enormous power. If you’re going to become a woman or man of faith, you have to change the way you talk. You have to tell it like God wants it to be.

Sometimes speaking in faith appears foolish, arrogant, and out of touch with reality to people who don’t understand faith. Abraham knew about this. God came to Abram one day and said, “Abram, I’m going to change your name from Abram to Abraham.” Abraham means “the father of a great nation.”

There was only one problem: Abraham was 99 years old, and he had no kids. He probably got ruthlessly ridiculed for his name. But God says we don’t live in the world of human reality. We live in the world of spiritual reality. When you see the world with spiritual eyes, you see it not as it is but as it can be, as it should be, and as God wants it to be.

Romans 4:17 says God “speaks of future events with as much certainty as though they were already past” (TLB). That’s called speaking in faith.

Yet you may hear some people say, “I just tell it like it is.” They criticize this and put that down. They can be fairly negative—because there are a lot of reasons in the world to be negative.

That’s one way to do it. But there’s a better way. Instead of telling it like it is, you can tell it like it could be! Telling it like it is has never changed anybody. It only makes people defensive.

For example, you could say to someone, “You’re a lousy father. You don’t spend any time with your kids because your career is more important.” But when you label someone like that, you reinforce what’s negative

Instead, you could say, “I see in you the potential for greatness. If you let Jesus Christ take control of your life, you won’t be perfect, but you can become a godly man of character that your kids admire.” That’s the kind of talk that motivates change!

Remember—you don’t have to tell it like it is. Tell it like it could be, like it should be, like God wants it to be. Speak it in advance and in faith, and then watch how God works.

Talk It Over

Can people tell by your everyday language that you are a person of faith?
Who do you know who needs you to speak what could be over his or her life?
What will you do today to motivate change in that person’s life through your words?

Where will you spend eternity?

Your sins separate you from God. And it is only God’s grace that allows you back into a right relationship with him.

The Bible says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).

If you’re ready to make peace with your Creator, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, I don’t want my sin to separate me from you any longer. You have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I believe you are my Savior. You have promised that if I confess my sin and trust you, I will be saved. I believe you when you say salvation comes by grace, through faith, and not by anything I do. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning over every part of my life to your management.

I want to live the way you created me to live and use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I commit my life to you and ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Cómo Tener un Cambio Duradero en tu Vida

“No imiten las conductas ni las costumbres de este mundo, más bien dejen que Dios los transforme en personas nuevas al cambiarles la manera de pensar. Entonces aprenderán a conocer la voluntad de Dios para ustedes, la cual es buena, agradable y perfecta”. Romanos 12:2 (NTV)

Si quieres tener un cambio duradero en tu vida, necesitas reenfocar tu mente.

Específicamente, debes cambiar tus patrones de pensamiento de aquellos en los que no quieres enfocarte, hacia los que deseas enfocarte. Porque en lo que sea que te centres es hacia donde te mueves.

El versículo de hoy nos da el modelo para cambiar nuestros patrones de pensamiento:

“No imiten”. ¿Con qué frecuencia permitimos que otras personas moldeen nuestras vidas? Dios no quiere que seas como alguien más; Él quiere que seas la persona que Él hizo. Así que no imites, no te conformes, no intentes ser como nadie más.“Las conductas ni las costumbres de este mundo”. Conducta significa el modelo de todo lo que has aprendido en la vida. Si deseas cambiar, debes cambiar tu conducta o las costumbres que has aprendido en tu vida. Necesitas reemplazar la vieja conducta insalubre por una nueva, la que es modelada según la vida de Cristo.“Dejen que Dios los transforme en personas nuevas al cambiarles la manera de pensar“. Transformar es la misma palabra que usamos para la metamorfosis, el proceso que atraviesa una oruga para convertirse en mariposa. De la misma manera, Dios quiere transformarte en una persona completamente nueva al renovar tu mente.

¿Cómo sucede esto? La Biblia nos dice en Efesios 4:22-24, “Con respecto a la vida que antes llevaban, se les enseñó que debían quitarse el ropaje de la vieja naturaleza, la cual está corrompida por los deseos engañosos; ser renovados en la actitud de su mente; y ponerse el ropaje de la nueva naturaleza, creada a imagen de Dios, en verdadera justicia y santidad” (NVI).

Esto significa que vas a tener que quitarte un poco y ponerte otro poco —y el quitarte tiene que pasar antes del ponerte. Es como probarse ropa en una tienda. Antes de que puedas probar las cosas nuevas, tienes que quitarte las cosas viejas.

Tendrás que dejar atrás las viejas actitudes, los viejos patrones de pensamiento, las viejas imágenes con las que has estado viviendo para poder ponerte las nuevas prendas que Dios tiene para ti.

A Faith That Persists Above Feelings

“It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible.”

Hebrews 11:27 (NLT)

There is a strong belief in our culture that influences every one of us, whether we want it to or not: If it feels good, do it.

But this kind of thinking allows you to be manipulated by your moods—making you live according to your feelings. God wants you to live a different kind of life. He wants you to live a life guided by faith, not a life driven by feelings. He wants you to grow in maturity.

We don’t always feel like doing the right thing. I don’t know about you, but I don’t always feel like being nice to people. I don’t always feel like stopping what I’m doing to help someone. I don’t always feel like believing God’s promises for my life.

But our goal as believers is to develop the kind of faith that persists above feelings. You deepen your relationship with God when you spend time with him, even on days when you don’t feel like it.

“I’ve found that if the only time I pray is when I feel like it, the devil makes sure I never feel like it.  If the only time I read my Bible is when I feel like it, the devil makes sure I never feel like it.” 

It’s like an Olympic athlete putting in the work, even when she doesn’t feel like it or a great musician practicing his craft, even when he’s tired. It’s the same with your relationship with God.

People who have a regular, consistent quiet time with God didn’t get there because they felt like it every single day. They got there because they woke up and decided to read the Bible and pray, even when they didn’t feel like it.

Faith is being persistent. Faith is refusing to give up no matter how tired you are or how many other things you could or think you should be doing

Through the example of Moses, the Bible shows us how to develop persistence. Hebrews 11:27 says, “It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible” (NLT).

That’s how you get there. That’s how you persist. That’s how you grow in maturity. You make a decision to do the right thing even when you don’t feel like it. You decide to live a life guided by your faith.

Maturity is living your life based on your commitments, not on your feelings. And that’s the place where faith really grows.

Dios Entiende que no Puedes Cambiar de la Noche a la Mañana

“Pónganse la nueva naturaleza, creada para ser a la semejanza de Dios, quien es verdaderamente justo y santo”. Efesios 4:24 (NTV)

Cuando Dios te ayuda a crecer espiritualmente, Él no hace chasquear los dedos para que suceda al instante. Lo hace gradualmente. Cuando Dios quiere un champiñón, le toma seis horas, pero cuando quiere un roble, le toma sesenta años.

¿Quieres ser un champiñón o un roble?

El Espíritu Santo hará cambios en tu vida mucho más allá de lo que crees posible, pero no va a suceder de la noche a la mañana. Cuando la iglesia Saddleback hizo nuestra “Década del destino”, mi oración era que, a través del trabajo del Espíritu Santo y la Palabra de Dios y con la ayuda de los grupos pequeños, nuestra iglesia fuera más madura, más como Cristo, y más allá de nuestro propósito en diez años a partir de ese punto. Mi oración es la misma para ti: Que, en la próxima década, crezcas en madurez espiritual y semejanza a Cristo y propósito.

Quiero que seas más fuerte emocional, física, espiritual, psicológica y financieramente, pero tienes que tener la intención sobre ello. La Biblia dice, “Pónganse la nueva naturaleza, creada para ser a la semejanza de Dios, quien es verdaderamente justo y santo” Efesios 4:24 (NTV).

Así es como nos hacemos más como Jesús. Derribamos las viejas cosas y formas que evitan que conozcamos a Cristo y ser como Él, y nos ponemos nuestros nuevos seres con la ayuda del Espíritu Santo. Permitimos a Dios hacer su trabajo en nosotros —sin importar cuanto tarde.

“Gracias a la acción de su Espíritu en nosotros, cada vez nos parecemos más a él” 2 Corintios 3:18 (TLA).

Obey Because God Says So

“It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before.”

Hebrews 11:7 (NLT)

Faith is being obedient even when you don’t understand. In the New Testament alone, there are at least 1,050 commands—and they’re all for your benefit.

God often says things that seem confusing, such as, “Love your enemies” and “Forgive the people who hurt you.” That’s not easy! Many commands in the Bible seem difficult, unreasonable, unrealistic, unachievable, and even impossible. But when God says things like, “You should save sex for marriage,” he’s not being mean. He says it because he knows more than you do what’s best and what will make you happy.

Every time God tells you to do something, it is a test of your faith. The question is this: Do you trust God, or do you trust your gut? Do you trust the Word, or do you trust the world?

Will you obey?

As a kid, did your parents ever ask you to do something that seemed unreasonable? When you asked, “Why should I do this?” they would say, “Because I said so!” Looking back, were the things your parents told you to do “because they said so” the right thing? Yes. Can you see in hindsight how they were wise?

Just like he did with Noah, God will ask you to do things you don’t understand for the rest of your life. When you’re 80 years old, God will say, “I want you to do this.” And you’ll ask, “Why? That doesn’t make sense.” And God will say, “Because I said so.”

Situations like these are a test. Faith is believing when you don’t see it, but it’s also obeying when you don’t understand it. If you don’t learn to obey, you’ll miss out on so many blessings God has in store for you.

But if you learn to do what God tells you to do without question, even when it seems absurd and the exact opposite of your natural tendency, then you will grow in faith—and be blessed.

Solamente Eres el Administrador de tu Dinero

“El reino de los cielos será también como un hombre que, al emprender un viaje, llamó a sus siervos y les encargó sus bienes. A uno le dio cinco mil monedas; a otro, dos mil y a otro, mil. Dio a cada uno según su capacidad. Luego se fue de viaje”. Mateo 25:14-15 (NVI)

Jesús dice en Mate 25:14-15, “El reino de los cielos será también como un hombre que, al emprender un viaje, llamó a sus siervos y les encargó sus bienes. A uno le dio cinco mil monedas; a otro, dos mil y a otro, mil. Dio a cada uno según su capacidad. Luego se fue de viaje” (NVI).

En esos días no había ningún banco, así que este hombre rico se fue a su largo viaje, les confió su propiedad a sus sirvientes. Cuando regresó, les pidió cuenta a sus siervos; él quería saber que habían hecho con su dinero.

A esto se les llama mayordomía —está relacionado con la palabra para “administrador”. La primera ley de la libertad es la ley de posesión: Todo lo que tienes pertenece a Dios. ¡Solo eres un administrador!

Somos llamados para administrar nuestro tiempo. Somos llamados para administrar nuestra influencia. Somos llamados para administrar nuestra salud, nuestras relaciones y nuestras oportunidades. Dios te llama a ser mayordomo y administrador de todo lo que tienes.

Puedes decir, “¡Pero espera un minuto! Yo trabajé por mi dinero, y ahora ¿me quieres decir que no es mío?” ¿De dónde crees que obtuviste tu cuerpo para trabajar por tu dinero? ¿De dónde crees que obtuviste tu mente para trabajar por ello? ¿De dónde crees que obtuviste tu energía para trabajar por ello? ¿De dónde crees que tienes la inteligencia para trabajar en ello? Todo lo que tienes es un don de Dios. En realidad, no posees nada en la vida; todo es un préstamo.

Solo puedes usar el dinero de Dios mientras estés aquí en la tierra. Él te lo prestó por unas pocas décadas. Él se lo prestó a alguien más antes de ti, y Él lo va a prestar a alguien más cuando mueras. No lo posees; El Señor es dueño de todo. Todo está bajo administración.

¿Sabes cuáles son las señales de que has olvidado la ley de la posesión? Cuando crees que tu dinero es tuyo, te preocupas por ello. Sientes presión y estrés que no se supone que tengas.

La administración del dinero es una disciplina espiritual. Dios está observando como manejas Su dinero para ver cuales riquezas espirituales te puede confiar en el cielo. Esto puede hacerte sentir presión, pero en realidad es libertad en la ley de posesión.

Cuando recuerdas que Dios es el dueño y tú eres el administrador, te preocuparás mucho menos y te enfocarás más en administrar bien el dinero de Dios.

Believe It So You Can See It

“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.”

Hebrews 11:1 (NLT)

Faith is visualizing the future. It’s believing in something before you see it. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see” (NLT).

A lot of people say, “I’ll believe it when I see it!” God says the exact opposite is true: “You’ll see it when you first believe it.” Many things in life must be believed before they can be seen.

In 1961, the Soviet Union sent the first cosmonaut into outer space. He circled the earth, and when he came back down, he did a press conference and said, “I searched the heavens, and I looked for God, and I did not see him anywhere. Therefore, there is no God.” The Communists, an atheistic regime, concluded, “We now have scientific proof that there is no God.”

About 10 months later, John Glenn, an astronaut from the U.S., went into space, circled the earth three times, came back down, and held a press conference. He said, “I saw God everywhere! I saw his glory in the galaxy. I saw his splendor in the universe. I saw his majesty in the stars.”

Jesus said, “Unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God” (John 3:3 NLT). Until there is a spiritual transformation in your life, you’ll be, in essence, too narrow-minded to see the possibility of what God is doing in the world around you. This is true of every person. Faith comes before seeing.

The truth is, nothing significant ever happens in life until someone starts dreaming. Every building starts as an idea in an architect’s mind. Every piece of music starts as an inspiration in a composer’s mind. Every gold medal starts as a dream in an athlete’s mind. They believe it before they can see it.

It is a universal principle of life: You have to believe before you can see. When you have faith, you will see the amazing things God is doing in you, through you, and around you.

So dream the biggest dream you can—and then believe that God can top it!
