Dios Abrirá un Camino

“Confía en el Señor con todo tu corazón; no dependas de tu propio entendimiento. Busca su voluntad en todo lo que hagas, y él te mostrará cuál camino tomar”. Proverbios 3:5-6 (NTV)  

Es posible que te estés enfrentando a un callejón sin salida en este momento: financiera, emocional o en tus relaciones. Pero si confías en Dios y sigues avanzando con fe, incluso cuando no veas un camino, Él abrirá un camino.

El plan de Dios se volverá más comprensible a medida que avanzas por el camino que Él pone ante ti, pero la comprensión no es un requisito para que comiences a recorrer el camino.

Proverbios 4:18 dice: “El camino de los justos es como la primera luz del amanecer, que brilla cada vez más hasta que el día alcanza todo su esplendor” (NTV).

Un día estarás a plena luz de la eternidad y verás el panorama completo. Verás el propósito de Dios detrás del camino que eligió específicamente para ti.

Mientras tanto, haz lo que dice Proverbios 3:5-6: “Confía en el Señor con todo tu corazón; no dependas de tu propio entendimiento. Busca su voluntad en todo lo que hagas, y él te mostrará cuál camino tomar” (NTV).

Se paciente. Dios sabe lo que está haciendo. Él sabe lo que es mejor para ti. Y puedes confiar en Él porque es bueno.

Puede que no puedas ver el resultado final, pero Dios sí. Todos esos problemas, angustias, dificultades y retrasos, todas las cosas que te hacen preguntar “por qué”, algún día quedarán claras a la luz del amor de Dios.

Pero por ahora, estás aprendiendo a confiar en Dios. Así que sigue adelante y sigue el camino que Él te ha trazado.

How Listening Changes Lives

“Someone's thoughts may be as deep as the ocean, but if you are smart, you will discover them.”

Proverbs 20:5 (CEV)

We’ve been looking the last few days at the things that can give you confidence in sharing the hope you have in Jesus. Today’s confidence builder is this: You can help lead anyone to Jesus if you’ll just listen for the key to their heart.

What is the key to someone’s heart? It’s their hidden hurt or unmet need.

We all have secrets in our lives, things we don’t want other people to know about. “Yes, all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious ideal” (Romans 3:23 TLB). But when you’re able to discern a person’s struggles by listening to their heart, you’ve just discovered how to lead them to Jesus.

The Bible says, “Someone’s thoughts may be as deep as the ocean, but if you are smart, you will discover them” (Proverbs 20:5 CEV).

Keep in mind, there’s only one way to God the Father, and that is through Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6 NIV). But there are many reasons people come to Jesus.

Some people come to Jesus for a miracle or to get a question answered. Some come to Jesus out of loneliness, guilt, or fear. Others are looking for purpose in life. Still others are in the middle of a relational or financial crisis.

There are a thousand different reasons people are drawn to God. Stress, pain, and suffering always have a way of getting your attention.

Whatever the reason, don’t waste any opportunity to show people that all their answers and longings are found and fulfilled in Jesus.

If you want to reach a particular person for the Lord, find the key to their heart by opening up a life-changing conversation with them.

Dios te Diseñó para Escuchar Su Voz

“Pues Dios habla una y otra vez, aunque la gente no lo reconozca”. Job 33:14 (NTV)

Dios te diseñó para escuchar Su voz. En cierto sentido, hay un “receptor” en ti que te permite obtener la guía de Dios.

¿Qué canales usa Dios? La forma principal en que Dios habla es a través de la Biblia. Por eso es importante leer la Biblia todos los días. La voluntad de Dios se encuentra en Su Palabra. Así es como sabes si la impresión que recibes es un mensaje de Dios.

Dios también habla a través de predicadores. ¿Alguna vez has estado en la iglesia o en un estudio bíblico y sentiste que el predicador te estaba hablando directamente a ti? En ese momento, era Dios que te estaba hablando directamente a ti.

Dios también habla a través de otros cristianos. Incluso habla a través de ti. Cuando te mantienes sintonizado con Él y aprendes su Palabra, a veces Dios te usará para decirle a las personas cosas que Él quiere que escuchen. No es algo reservado solo para los pastores; Dios habla a través de cada creyente en diferentes momentos.

Dios también habla a través de tus circunstancias y tu dolor.

Job 33:14 dice: “Pues Dios habla una y otra vez, aunque la gente no lo reconozca” (NTV).

Dios está hablando todo el tiempo. Pero tienes que escuchar. Sintonízate con Dios y Él te guiará por el camino correcto.

You’ve Got the Truth That Sets People Free

“God is not a God of confusion but of peace.”

1 Corinthians 14:33 (ESV)

God has called you to represent him everywhere you go. Similar to how countries send out ambassadors, God is sending you out to tell others about his love and forgiveness.

But maybe you lack the confidence needed to share your faith. Maybe you think it requires having a salesperson mentality. But that simply isn’t true! You don’t have to be good at “closing the deal” to invite people into God’s family.

I’ve talked before about how all humans have the same inner longings. So, when you tell others about Jesus, you’re offering them something they’re already looking for. What a confidence booster!

Another confidence booster in sharing your faith is this: Most people don’t really know what they believe. They may label themselves atheist, Christian, or Muslim. But when you scratch beneath the surface, they sometimes don’t even know what that system believes.

Many people also claim to think a certain way, but they end up contradicting themselves. For example, they’ll say, “There are no absolutes in life.” But that’s nonsense because that statement contradicts itself. In fact, people who make that claim live by rules based on absolutes all the time. This shows that their beliefs are inconsistent and they are confused.

But sharing your hope in Christ helps bring clarity to their lives. It gives them the understanding they need. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 14:33, “God is not a God of confusion but of peace” (ESV). The truth of God’s Word sets people free from contradiction, confusion, and everything else that binds up their lives.

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32 NIV).

Here’s something interesting about human behavior: People make almost all their decisions based on emotions. Then they go look for intellectual reasons to back up their emotional decisions. So, when you share your faith, you don’t have to be afraid of arguing intellectual ideas, because most intellectuals are making their decisions based on their feelings anyway!

Next time you lack the confidence to share your faith, you can relax, knowing that the message of Jesus will bring much-needed clarity to people’s lives.

Espera que Dios Responda tus Oraciones

“Si necesitan sabiduría, pídansela a nuestro generoso Dios, y él se la dará; no los reprenderá por pedirla. Cuando se la pidan, asegúrense de que su fe sea solamente en Dios, y no duden, porque una persona que duda tiene la lealtad dividida y es tan inestable como una ola del mar que el viento arrastra y empuja de un lado a otro. Esas personas no deberían esperar nada del Señor; su lealtad está dividida entre Dios y el mundo, y son inestables en todo lo que hacen”. Santiago 1:5-8 (NTV)

Dios quiere dirigirte en la vida, pero dos cosas deben alinearse: debes preguntarle a la persona adecuada y debes preguntar con la actitud correcta. La persona correcta es Dios, y la actitud correcta es la fe: confiar en que Él te dará la respuesta.

La Biblia dice: “Si necesitan sabiduría, pídansela a nuestro generoso Dios, y él se la dará; no los reprenderá por pedirla. ¿Alguna vez le has pedido a Dios algo sin esperar obtenerlo? Por eso no lo recibiste. Dios obra en tu vida según tu fe.

Muy a menudo decimos: “¡Dios, por favor guíame!” y nos alejamos sin esperar Su guía. Inmediatamente nos ponemos a trabajar en el problema. Podemos decir que queremos que Dios nos dé sabiduría y nos ayude a tomar la decisión correcta, pero en realidad no esperamos que lo haga. Creemos que todo depende de nosotros.

Pero Dios ha prometido darte sabiduría, si la pides. Sabiduría es ver la vida desde el punto de vista de Dios. Sabiduría es la capacidad de tomar decisiones de la misma manera que Dios las toma.

Piensa en esto: Dios nunca toma una mala decisión. Nunca se equivoca. Él dice que, si confías en Él y lo escuchas, Él te guiará. Pero primero debes pedir con fe.

The First and Last Words of Jesus

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.”

Matthew 28:18-19 (NIV)

One thing is made very clear in Scripture: God wants you to tell people the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ. In fact, some of the first and last recorded words of Jesus were about sharing the hope you have in him.

In Matthew 4:19, at the beginning of his ministry, Jesus gathered a small group of fishermen and carpenters—just ordinary people—and said, “Follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” (NLT) These were some of the very first words Jesus spoke to his followers.

Do you see Jesus’ logic in that verse? If you’re not fishing for people, then you’re not really following him. The proof that you are truly in God’s family is that you’re bringing other people into the family.

Later in the book of Matthew, Jesus talked again about sharing your hope. This passage is called the Great Commission. Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:18-19 NIV). These were some of the very last words of Jesus before he went back to heaven.

Why does Jesus have “all authority in heaven and on earth”? Because he created the universe, so he’s been given all authority over it. Jesus authorizes you to go make disciples. This means you are God’s agent!

Is anyone going to be in heaven because of you? Have you ever led anybody to faith in Christ? Follow the first and last words of Jesus, and people will one day say to you in heaven, “Thank you! I’m in heaven today because of you.”

¿No Puedes Imaginar tu Futuro? Confía en Dios

“Guía a los humildes para que hagan lo correcto; les enseña su camino”. Salmo 25:9 (NTV)

La Biblia dice que debes hacer varias cosas para recibir la guía de Dios, pero lo primero es esto: ¡debes admitir que necesitas un guía!

Si eres como la mayoría de las personas, no quieres seguir a Dios ni a nadie más. Quieres seguir tu propio camino. A veces incluso “juegas a ser Dios” y tomas tus propias decisiones. En lugar de hacer lo que Dios quiere que hagas, tomas el asunto en tus propias manos. Y te cuesta admitir que necesitas dirección o que necesitas un guía.

Las ovejas, por naturaleza, tienden a desviarse del camino. El profeta Isaías dice: “Todos nosotros nos hemos extraviado como ovejas; hemos dejado los caminos de Dios para seguir los nuestros. Sin embargo, el Señor puso sobre él los pecados de todos nosotros” Isaías 53:6 (NTV).

Otra cosa acerca de las ovejas es que tienen mala visión. No pueden ver muy lejos. Por eso necesitan un pastor.

Dios te hizo para que no pudieras ver el futuro, no importa cuánto lo intentes. ¿Por qué Dios hizo esto? Lo hizo para que dependieras de Él.

Proverbios 14:12 dice: “ Delante de cada persona hay un camino que parece correcto, pero termina en muerte” (NTV). Todos hemos tomado decisiones que en un momento parecían correctas pero que luego resultaron ser incorrectas. Algunos caminos conducen a callejones sin salida y terminas desviado. Es por eso que debes admitir: “Dios, necesito tu ayuda”.

Dios quiere guiarte por el camino correcto, y eso es exactamente lo que hará cuando te rindas a Él y lo dejes guiarte.

Why Share the Hope of Jesus?

“Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”

Matthew 4:19 (NLT)

God has called you to be a witness for him in the world. He expects you to tell others about the hope you have in Jesus.

But many people are what I call “arctic river Christians.” They’re frozen at the mouth. They hold back or don’t say anything about Jesus. But Jesus says, “If you’re not fishing, then you’re not following me.”

The Bible says, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” (Matthew 4:19 NLT)

Why does God want you to share your hope? Here are a few reasons.

Everybody needs Jesus. The Good News of Jesus is better than anything this world could offer. It’s better than the cure for cancer, AIDS, or any other sickness. When you point people to Jesus, you offer them eternal life. You show them how to have their past forgiven, a purpose for living, and a home in heaven. Everybody needs that!

Jesus commands it. Jesus’ Great Commission is clear: “Go and make disciples of all the nations” (Matthew 28:19 NLT). But, if you’re like most people, sometimes you care more about what others think than what God thinks. You’re more worried about your reputation than the salvation of others. But Jesus commands you to share your hope.

You love God and people. The Bible says, “Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that [he] died for all” (2 Corinthians 5:14 NIV). People often ask me, “What motivates you year after year at Saddleback Church?” I tell them, “It’s because I love Jesus Christ with all my heart, and I love people.” Christ’s love compels me to tell others about the hope I have in him.

You will be rewarded in heaven. Proverbs 11:30 says, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise” (NKJV). Do you want to bear fruit and be wise? Bring people to Jesus. Do you want to leave a legacy? Make sure the people you know will be with you in heaven one day.

Right now, think of one person in your life who doesn’t know Jesus yet. Pray, “God, I want the privilege of bringing this person into your family. I want them to be in heaven because of me. Please help me not hold back anymore.”

Now, go tell them about Jesus!

Cuando tienes Miedo de Tomar una Decisión Incorrecta

“Él renueva mis fuerzas. Me guía por sendas correctas, y así da honra a su nombre” . Salmo 23:3 (NTV)  

A veces tenemos miedo de tomar la decisión equivocada. Y eso nos genera estrés. Pero Dios tiene un antídoto para la indecisión. El Salmo 23:3 dice: “Él renueva mis fuerzas. Me guía por sendas correctas, y así da honra a su nombre” (NTV). La forma de manejar el estrés para tomar cualquier decisión es dejar que Dios te guíe.

Puedes estar pensando, “¡Pero he intentado esto!” Le pediste a Dios que te guiara, pero luego te confundiste más que nunca. Aún no podías entenderlo y te preguntabas por qué es tan difícil conocer la voluntad de Dios.

¿Dios está jugando contigo? ¡Por supuesto que no! Dios quiere guiarte. Quiere que conozcas Su voluntad más de lo que tú quieres saberla. Pero a veces buscas algo incorrecto cuando estás tratando de encontrar la voluntad de Dios. Todos hacemos esto.

Algunos buscan un sentimiento. Algunos quieren una fórmula o receta a seguir. Otros adoptan un enfoque mágico y buscan a Dios para que nos muestre una señal fantástica.

Pero estas formas solo conducen a la frustración y pueden hacer que pierdas la voluntad de Dios.

Dios no quiere que estés confundido y no quiere que estés estresado por tomar una decisión. Él está ahí, guiándote en cada paso del camino. Durante los próximos días, veremos juntos cómo puedes dejar que Dios te guíe.

Esta es Su promesa, y puedes creer que es verdad: “Él renueva mis fuerzas. Me guía por sendas correctas, y así da honra a su nombre” Salmo 23:3 (NTV).

How to Love People into God’s Family

“Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD.”

Psalm 40:3 (NLT)

Because of Jesus, you can have your past forgiven, have a purpose for living, and have a home in heaven. Telling others about this hope you have in Jesus is the most loving thing you can do.

When people see the difference Jesus makes in your life, it has an impact. The Bible says, “Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD” (Psalm 40:3 NLT).

Yesterday, we looked at three practical steps to help you share the hope of Jesus. Here are three more:

Listen first. Every person on this planet has a deep hunger to be heard, to be understood, and to have their feelings validated. Proverbs 18:13 says, “Listen before you answer” (GNT). Your ear is a great tool for showing love to someone. When you listen to another person, you can find the key to their heart.

Share your stories. Notice I said “stories,” not “story.” Why? Because you have many stories, or testimonies. A lot of people think they only have one testimony—the testimony of how they came to Christ. But has God ever helped you with a financial, relational, or health problem? You have hundreds of powerful testimonies that can point people to Jesus.

Bring people to worship. One of the best ways you can share the Good News is to bring people to church. As they walk into a service, they will see many believers coming together, worshiping God, and believing the same thing. Acts 2:47 says, “At the same time, they praised God and had the good will of all the people. Every day the Lord saved people, and they were added to the group” (GW).

Most people don’t know about the hope that Jesus Christ gives, and so they are spiritually empty. What step can you take today to bring someone into the family of God?

Talk It Over

When was the last time you shared with someone the hope you have in Jesus? How did they respond?
Think of a time when you completely focused on listening to someone. What did you discover in the process?
How has God recently helped you with a financial, relational, or health problem? Who can you share this testimony with?

How to Join God’s Family

If someone is ready to trust God’s promise of salvation and join his spiritual family, then ask them to pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, you have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I receive you into my life as my Lord and Savior. Today, I’m turning every part of my life over to you. I want to follow you and do what you tell me to do.

“Jesus, I am grateful for your love and for your sacrifice that makes it possible for me to join you in heaven. I know I don’t deserve it. And I thank you that I don’t have to earn or work for my salvation, because I know that is impossible. I want to use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I humbly commit my life to you, and I ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”
