Las Promesas de Dios para los Humildes

“Tú diriges a los humildes en la justicia y les enseñas su camino”. Salmo 25:9 (NBV)

 La humildad no es pensar menos en uno mismo. ¡Puedes tener confianza y humildad al mismo tiempo! La humildad es pensar menos en ti mismo. Cuando te mantienes enfocado en Dios y en ayudar a otras personas, naturalmente piensas menos en ti mismo.

Esa no es una forma fácil de vivir. ¿Por qué alguien optaría por pensar en los demás más de lo que piensa en sí mismo? Porque Dios hace muchas promesas en la Biblia para los cristianos que son humildes. La humildad es muy importante para Dios.

Aquí hay cuatro cosas que Dios hará en tu vida cuando te esfuerces por ser humilde:

Si eres humilde, Dios te guiará.

Si no sabes qué camino tomar, si entrar o salir, aguantar o soltar, entonces se humilde. Cuando te humillas, Dios te aclarará tu próximo paso. ¡Cometerás menos errores en la vida! “Tú diriges a los humildes en la justicia y les enseñas su camino” Salmo 25:9 (NBV).

Si eres humilde, Dios te bendecirá.

Estas promesas se encuentran en todas las Escrituras, como Isaías 66:2, “Bendeciré a los que tienen un corazón humilde y arrepentido, a los que tiemblan ante mi palabra” (NTV). Dios no bendice a las personas egoístas u orgullosas ni a aquellos que en secreto creen que son mejores que los demás. Bendice a los humildes.

Si eres humilde, Dios te dará el poder de cambiar.

El poder de cambiar se llama gracia. Tal vez haya cosas en tu vida que te gustaría cambiar. Quizás has intentado cambiar, pero no puedes o no lo haces. ¡Necesitas gracia! ¿Cómo se obtiene la gracia de Dios y el poder de cambiar?

“Dios se opone a los soberbios, pero da gracia a los humildes” Santiago 4:6 (NTV). Cada vez que eres orgulloso, estás en el lado opuesto de Dios y no quieres estar allí. Cuanto más humilde eres, más gracia te da Dios.

Si eres humilde, Dios reducirá tu estrés.

Si eres orgulloso, tu estrés aumentará. En cambio, escucha a Jesús: “Pónganse mi yugo. Déjenme enseñarles, porque yo soy humilde y tierno de corazón, y encontrarán descanso para el alma” Mateo 11:29 (NTV).

Cuando estés agotado y sientas que no te queda nada para dar, ríndete a Jesús. Pasa tiempo en la Biblia, aprendiendo a elegir la mansedumbre y la humildad con su ejemplo. Ora y pídele la gracia de cambiar.

Entonces encontrarás el descanso que tu alma ha estado anhelando.

Walk in Community with Other Believers

“It is not good that man should be alone.”

Genesis 2:18 (NKJV)

You can’t become all God wants you to be without other people in your life.

In fact, the very first thing God said to humans was this: “It is not good that man should be alone” (Genesis 2:18 NKJV). God isn’t talking about just marriage in this verse. It simply isn’t good for us to try to do any part of life on our own.”

I’ve heard people say that complete independence is the key to happiness. But after counseling thousands of people, I can tell you that’s nonsense. Complete independence from other humans is not happiness. It’s loneliness. And the quickest way to make yourself miserable, resentful, fearful, and insecure is to pretend that you don’t need anybody else in your life.

You need others—particularly a church family—to walk with you through life. A physical family doesn’t last forever. They grow up, split up, and move away. But a spiritual family, the church, will last forever.

Here are three reasons you should walk in community with other believers:

It’s safer. There’s safety in numbers. There’s less risk. Have you ever had to walk through a dark alley at night by yourself? It feels a lot better when you have other people with you! When going through dark times, it’s safer to walk with others who can encourage you and pray with you. The Bible says, “In the multitude of counselors there is safety” (Proverbs 11:14 NKJV).

It’s supportive. It keeps you from giving up. If you’ve ever prepared for a marathon, you may have been tempted to quit because you reached a plateau in your training. But when you run with other people, they keep you moving toward your goal and give you support.

It’s smarter. The Bible says, “Only fools would trust what they alone think” (Proverbs 28:26 CEV). If you’re walking alone, you might be walking in the wrong direction. But when you walk with other people, you learn how to listen, how to get along, and how to love.

God created community as an antidote to loneliness. When you do life with your church family, discouragement and fatigue start to go away.

Termina tu Día con una Buena Palabra

“Y no nos dejes caer en tentación, sino líbranos del mal. Porque Tuyo es el reino y el poder y la gloria para siempre. Amén”. Mateo 6:13 (NBLA)

 Cómo terminas tu día marca la diferencia en cómo duermes. Y la forma en que duermes marca la diferencia en cómo puedes funcionar al día siguiente. Para vivir con un propósito, debes terminar bien tu día.

Termina tu día con una bendición, una buena palabra. No hay mejor palabra que la Palabra de Dios. Lee algunas promesas de Dios. Anímate por la Verdad, como esta última línea del Padre Nuestro: “Y no nos dejes caer en tentación, sino líbranos del mal. Porque Tuyo es el reino y el poder y la gloria para siempre. Amén” Mateo 6:13 (NBLA).

Cuando termines el día con este versículo, dormirás mucho mejor, porque contiene dos verdades increíblemente alentadoras:

Dios está en control.

Los políticos no tienen el control. Otras naciones no tienen el control. Tu jefe no tiene el control. Dios, en última instancia, tiene el control. La Biblia dice: “En las manos de Dios los planes del rey son como un río: toman el curso que Dios quiere darles” Proverbios 21:1 (TLA). Por eso el mundo cambia cuando el pueblo de Dios ora. Dios está esperando que hablemos con Él y le entreguemos las cargas que nos impiden descansar.

¡Dios y su familia ganan al final!

Este no es el final de la historia. Cuando lees el último capítulo de la Biblia, descubres que Dios gana. Si lo último que miras antes de irte a la cama son los noticieros o los presentadores de televisión nocturnos hablando sobre las últimas noticias, entonces te irás a la cama deprimido. Pero si te acuestas con la verdad de Dios dando vueltas en tu cabeza, entonces te acostarás en paz.

La sobreviviente del Holocausto, Corrie Ten Boom, dijo: “Si miras al mundo, estarás angustiado. Si miras dentro, estarás deprimido. Si miras a Dios estarás en reposo”.

¿Dónde buscas descansar? Antes de terminar el día, recuerda la verdad de Dios. Dile: “Dios, Tú tienes el control. Este no es el final de la historia y al final ganaremos. Buenas noches, Señor. Te veré en la mañana”.

Entonces, duerme en paz.

Reflexiona sobre esto:

¿Qué cambios notas —física, relacional, emocional y espiritualmente— cuando duermes bien por la noche?¿Por qué debería darte paz la Palabra de Dios?¿Qué paso puedes dar hoy para comenzar el hábito de terminar tu día con una buena palabra de la Palabra de Dios?

No hay condenación para los que pertenecen a Cristo.

La Biblia dice que todas las personas no alcanzan el estándar perfecto de Dios. Sin embargo, Dios todavía te ama, a pesar de que pecas y tienes defectos. De hecho, Dios te ama tanto que envió a su Hijo, Jesús, para limpiarte de tus pecados y llevarte a la familia de Dios.

Si estás listo para entrar en la familia de Dios, aquí tienes una oración con la que puedes comenzar: “Querido Dios, sé que cuando muera te voy a dar cuenta de mi vida directamente. Confieso que te he ignorado. Sé que he pecado contra ti y he vivido según mi plan, no el tuyo. Quiero que eso cambie, comenzando ahora mismo. Quiero apartarme de mis pecados hacia ti.

Gracias por enviar a Jesús a morir por todo lo que hice mal para no tener que pagar la pena que me tocaba pagar a mí. Sé que no merezco tu perdón. Sé que solo tu gracia puede salvarme, Señor.

Jesús, gracias por amarme tanto que cargaste con toda mi culpa. Me hiciste aceptable para el cielo y humildemente te pido que me salves. Te pido que me salves de los pecados y los hábitos que están arruinando mi vida en este momento. Yo creo en ti, Jesús. Y creo que mantendrás tu promesa de salvarme. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén”.

Where Do You Learn About Your Life Mission?

“The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me—to tell people the Good News about God’s grace.”

Acts 20:24 (NCV)

God has a significant purpose for your life. It’s called your life mission, and fulfilling it should be your primary goal in life.

You weren’t put on Earth to just be a consumer, waste your time, and live an uninspired life. God has something unique for you to do. He doesn’t want you to be a consumer; he wants you to make a contribution. He wants you to make a difference.

What is your life mission? The Bible says, “The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me—to tell people the Good News about God’s grace” (Acts 20:24 NCV).

God’s mission for you is “to tell people the Good News about God’s grace.” And the best place to learn how to do that is in your church family.

You likely won’t learn how to fulfill your life mission at a business, in a school, or around your neighborhood. But it’s the job of your pastor and church family to help you do what God put you on Earth to do.

When you get to heaven, God isn’t going to ask about your church denomination. He’s more likely to ask, “What did you do with what I gave you? Did you use it to serve others? Did you ‘go everywhere in the world, and tell the Good News to everyone’ (Mark 16:15 NCV)?”

God has a ministry in the church and a mission in the world for you to fulfill. He wants to use your church family to prepare you to join his global mission. When you belong to a church family, they help you fulfill God’s purpose for your life.

Comienza tu Día con Gratitud

“Todo lo que es bueno y perfecto es un regalo que desciende a nosotros de parte de Dios nuestro Padre, quien creó todas las luces de los cielos. Él nunca cambia ni varía como una sombra en movimiento”. Santiago 1:17 (NTV)

 Los expertos dicen que la actitud que tienes para el día se establece en los primeros ocho minutos de tu día. ¿Quieres quejarte, y estar molesto durante el día o quieres estar agradecido?

La Biblia dice: “Todo lo que es bueno y perfecto es un regalo que desciende a nosotros de parte de Dios nuestro Padre, quien creó todas las luces de los cielos. Él nunca cambia ni varía como una sombra en movimiento” Santiago 1:17 (NTV).

La gratitud te lleva a concentrarte en tu Padre amoroso que satisface todas tus necesidades.

No empieces el día con confesiones o peticiones. Empieza con gratitud. Piensa en Dios y Su bondad. Dile que es un buen padre, agradeciéndole por ser amoroso, cercano y consistente. Haz una lista de las formas en que te ha bendecido. Dile por qué estás agradecido: agua, cama y una manta, una casa cálida cuando hace frío y una casa fría cuando hace calor afuera. No tienes que preocuparte por decir lo correcto. Solo di lo que sientes y lo que tienes en mente.

Una de las formas en que puedes comenzar el día con agradecimiento es buscar canciones de gratitud que te recuerden quién es Dios y lo que ha hecho por ti. Escúchalas tan pronto como abras los ojos para que tus primeros pensamientos sean de agradecimiento. ¡La adoración es la mejor manera de despertar!

También puedes hacer una lista de las cosas por las que estás agradecido y mantenerla cerca de tu cama o en cualquier lugar donde tengas un momento de tranquilidad. Una lista de gratitud puede ayudarte a mantenerte enfocado en la bondad de Dios, y luego puedes derramarle tu corazón en agradecimiento.

Cuando te despiertes todas las mañanas, asegúrate de que lo primero que estés haciendo sea agradecer a Dios por su amor constante y recordar todas las formas en que Él es bueno contigo.

Levántate con gratitud. ¡Cambiará todo sobre tu día!

Three Reasons You Need a Church Family

“Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.”

Romans 12:4-5 (NLT)

When it comes to going to church, God doesn’t want you just to attend church—he wants you to belong to a church family.

The Bible says, “Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other” (Romans 12:4-5 NLT).

I can always tell the difference between a Saddleback church attender and a church member. An attender will come up to me in the grocery store and say, “Pastor Rick, I love your church.” They say your church. But a member says, “Pastor Rick, I love our church.”

Have you made that jump? Have you made the switch from consumer to contributor, from attender to member, from longing to belonging? Here are three reasons why you should belong to a church family:

A church family helps you focus on God. These days it’s easy to get distracted by details, disturbances, dead-ends, delays, and difficulties. But coming together with a church family will help you focus on God. The more you choose to focus on God, the bigger he gets in your mind and the smaller your problems become.

A church family helps you face life’s problems. Right now, you’re in one of three positions. Either you just came out of a problem, you’re in the middle of a problem, or you’re headed into the next problem. Life is a series of problems that God never meant for you to handle on your own. That’s why he built a support group of people around you—the church—who are right there in the fight with you. You’re not alone.

A church family helps you fortify your faith. Fortify means to strengthen, to reinforce, and to develop. When you’re in relationship with other people in God’s family, you get the right support. They encourage you to create the right priorities, helping you decide what’s trivial and what matters most. This clarifies your values and fortifies your faith.

There are a lot of ideas in the world today that just aren’t true and make it easy to lose sight of God’s purpose for your life. Belonging to a church family helps you focus on God, face life’s problems, and fortify your faith. And that will make all the difference in your life.

La Oración es una Conversación Continua con Dios

“Oren en el Espíritu en todo momento y en toda ocasión. Manténganse alerta y sean persistentes en sus oraciones por todos los creyentes en todas partes”. Efesios 6:18 (NTV)

La oración es una conversación continua con Dios. ¡Nunca termina!

Simplemente habla con Dios como lo harías con un amigo o un padre amoroso. Si surge algo, habla con Él al respecto. Entonces, tal vez pasa un minuto o dos, y le hablas de otra cosa.

Si no respiraras, morirías. La oración es una respiración espiritual. No piensas en respirar, simplemente lo haces. De la misma manera, la oración debe volverse tan natural que ni siquiera pienses en ella.

En este momento, quizás tengas que pensar en orar. Pero puedes desarrollar el hábito de orar, donde ni siquiera tienes que pensar en hacerlo o en lo que vas a decir.

Eres bueno hablando contigo mismo. Hablas contigo mismo sobre todo lo que experimentas, ¡todo el tiempo! En lugar de eso, empieza a hablar con Dios. Para orar continuamente, simplemente habla con Dios sobre lo que sea que te interese en ese momento en particular.

“Oren en el Espíritu en todo momento y en toda ocasión. Manténganse alerta y sean persistentes en sus oraciones por todos los creyentes en todas partes” Efesios 6:18 (NTV).

Eso significa que puedes hablar con Dios en cualquier lugar, en cualquier momento, sobre cualquier cosa, según te dirija el Espíritu. Cuando tengas una impresión acerca de algo, ¡ora al respecto!

Tal vez estés pensando que a menudo no tienes ganas de orar porque no sabes qué decir. Pero si no tienes ganas de orar, significa que no estás orando lo que sientes.

Cuando no tienes ganas de orar, significa que estás orando por algo incorrecto. Dios no está interesado en lo que a ti no te interesa. Dios ya sabe todo en tu vida. Solo quiere que le hables, como un padre o una madre anhelan que sus hijos les hablen.

Mantén una conversación con Dios durante todo el día. Habla con Él sobre lo que estás sintiendo y tendrás muchas más ganas de orar.

The Greatest Privilege in Life

“God . . . has given us the privilege of being born again so that we are now members of God's own family.”

1 Peter 1:3 (TLB)

A church is not a place you go, and it’s not an event you attend. The church is a spiritual family you belong to—and it’s the most important thing on earth.

Why is the church so important? Because it is God’s family. In fact, the greatest privilege in life is to be part of God’s family—to be able to say, “I’m a member of God’s family. I’m a child of God.”

The Bible says, “God . . . has given us the privilege of being born again so that we are now members of God’s own family” (1 Peter 1:3 TLB).

When you were born physically, you immediately became part of the human race. That wasn’t your choice. But you do have a choice about your spiritual family. When you choose to accept Jesus as your Savior, you are born spiritually, and you become a member of God’s own family.

One of the benefits of being born into God’s family is found in 1 Timothy 3:15: “[God’s] family is the church of the living God, the support and foundation of the truth” (NCV). If you live in an area where there are earthquakes, you know the value of a good foundation. In the same way, when you have the support of a church family, you won’t crumble when life’s earthquakes happen.

Everything on earth will eventually crumble—except the church. No business, school, government, or nation will last forever. Only the church will last forever, because it is built by Jesus, and he’s focused on building his family.

Jesus says in Matthew 16:18, “I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it” (NLT).

In a world that’s full of uncertainty, choose to build your life on the only foundation that is guaranteed to last: the secure foundation of God’s family.

Talk It Over

In what way has church been just a place you “go to” instead of a place you “belong to”?
Do you have a tendency to base your identity on your career, your friends, the things you own, your political party—or anything else—instead of on the truth that you are a child of God?
How does it motivate you to share your faith when you know that everything on earth—except for the church—will crumble?

Have you joined God’s family?

If you’re ready to trust God’s promise of salvation and join his spiritual family, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, you have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I receive you into my life as my Lord and Savior. Today, I’m turning every part of my life over to you. I want to follow you and do what you tell me to do.

“Jesus, I am grateful for your love and for your sacrifice that makes it possible for me to join you in heaven. I know I don’t deserve it. And I thank you that I don’t have to earn or work for my salvation, because I know that is impossible. I want to use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I humbly commit my life to you, and I ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Cómo Orar En Cinco Dimensiones

“No dejen que ninguna parte de su cuerpo se convierta en un instrumento del mal para servir al pecado. En cambio, entréguense completamente a Dios, porque antes estaban muertos, pero ahora tienen una vida nueva. Así que usen todo su cuerpo como un instrumento para hacer lo que es correcto para la gloria de Dios”. Romanos 6:13 (NTV)

Dado que Dios es multidimensional, no querrás que tus oraciones sean unidimensionales. En realidad, hay cinco dimensiones de tu vida por las que puedes orar.

Cuando ores, mira hacia atrás; hacia la cruz.

Es bueno comenzar tus oraciones con la cruz, porque te ayuda a tener una actitud de gratitud. Cuando piensas en Jesús muriendo por ti en la cruz, te recuerda cuán profundo Dios te ama, cuán costoso es el pecado y que eres completamente perdonado.

“Pues ustedes saben que Dios pagó un rescate para salvarlos de la vida vacía que heredaron de sus antepasados. No fue pagado con oro ni plata, los cuales pierden su valor, sino que fue con la preciosa sangre de Cristo, el Cordero de Dios, que no tiene pecado ni mancha” 1 Pedro 1: 18-19 (NTV).

Cuando ores, mira hacia arriba; hacia el rostro de un Padre amoroso.

La forma en que ves a Dios influirá en cada área de tu vida, incluso si tus oraciones son fructíferas o no. Si solo haces un cambio en tus oraciones y  comienzas a llamar a Dios “Padre”. Empezarás a comprender mejor cuánto te ama y cómo trabaja para tu bien.

Romanos 8: 16-17 dice: “Pues su Espíritu se une a nuestro espíritu para confirmar que somos hijos de Dios. Así que como somos sus hijos, también somos sus herederos. De hecho, somos herederos junto con Cristo de la gloria de Dios; pero si vamos a participar de su gloria, también debemos participar de su sufrimiento” (NTV).

Cuando ores, mira hacia adentro; hacia Jesús que vive en ti.

Jesús está en ti y Dios Padre te acepta incondicionalmente. Esto te da la libertad y el coraje para enfrentar tus faltas. Antes de que puedas mejorar, debes admitir lo que está mal.

“Examínense para saber si su fe es genuina. Pruébense a sí mismos. Sin duda saben que Jesucristo está entre ustedes; de no ser así, ustedes han reprobado el examen de la fe genuina” 2 Corintios 13:5 (NTV).

Cuando ores, pídele al Espíritu Santo que te use.

En lugar de quejarte o juzgar al mundo, simplemente di: “Espíritu Santo, muéstrame qué está mal y cómo puedo hacer una diferencia. Úsame”. Cuando estás disponible para Dios, Él te usará para su bien.

La Biblia dice: “No dejen que ninguna parte de su cuerpo se convierta en un instrumento del mal para servir al pecado. En cambio, entréguense completamente a Dios, porque antes estaban muertos, pero ahora tienen una vida nueva. Así que usen todo su cuerpo como un instrumento para hacer lo que es correcto para la gloria de Dios” Romanos 6:13 (NTV).

Cuando ores, espera tu futuro en fe.

A los padres les encanta escuchar a sus hijos hablar sobre sus sueños, ¡y a Dios también! Cuéntale tus pensamientos, ideas y sueños. Él es un buen padre que está esperando que le hables.

“Y estoy seguro de que Dios, quien comenzó la buena obra en ustedes, la continuará hasta que quede completamente terminada el día que Cristo Jesús vuelva” Filipenses 1:6 (NTV).

Five Reasons to Serve God

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

Matthew 25:40 (NIV)

How do you serve God? By serving others.

In the parable of the sheep and the goats, Jesus said, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40 NIV). When you do something that makes someone else’s life better in some way, you’re serving God.

Some people serve out of guilt, duty, or pressure. But God wants you to serve out of gratitude for what he’s done for you. He made you, he saved you, and he’s taking you to heaven. Gratitude is the best motivator to serve.

Here are five things the Bible says about serving God:

Serving is one of your life purposes. Mark 8:35 says, “Only those who throw away their lives for my sake and for the sake of the Good News will ever know what it means to really live” (TLB). Until you learn how to serve, you’re not really living—you’re just existing. You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give away.

Serving makes you more like Jesus. Matthew 20:28 says, “Even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many” (NLT). If you don’t learn how to serve others, you will never grow to spiritual maturity. In fact, you’ll be a spiritual baby your entire life.

Serving is the highest use of your time. 1 Corinthians 15:58 says, “Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord” (NIV). If you want to make an impact and leave a legacy, the highest use of your time is to serve God by serving others. Your service to the Lord is never wasted.

Serving is the secret to greatness. Matthew 20:26 says, “If you want to be great, you must be the servant of all the others” (CEV). True greatness comes from servanthood, not from living for yourself. The greatest leaders are those who serve the most.

Serving will be rewarded in heaven. Jesus said in Mark 10:29-30, “I can guarantee this truth: Anyone who gave up [anything] because of me and the Good News will certainly receive a hundred times as much” (GW). Ultimately, your real boss is Jesus. And he will reward you one day for everything you’ve done for him. That’s a guarantee!

How passionate are you about serving God? Could your enthusiasm use a boost? God wants you to think differently about serving and to “never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord” (Romans 12:11 NIV).
