Puedes Hablar Con Dios, Sobre Todo

“Si fuera al oriente donde nace el sol, allí estarías; o al occidente, al fin de los mares, allí estarías. Aun allí me tomarías de la mano y me conducirías; tu fuerte mano derecha me ayudaría”. Salmo 139:9-10 (PDT)

Jamás estarás solo porque Dios está en cada dimensión al mismo tiempo.

Dios está en el pasado, está en el presente y está en el futuro. Él está en el cielo y está en la tierra. Él está en el mundo espiritual. Él está en nuestro mundo. Él está en ti, sobre ti, a tu alrededor —porque Él es multidimensional.

No hay muchos dioses para cubrir cada dimensión. Solo hay un Dios en la persona del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo. Porque Él es multidimensional, nunca estás solo.

“¿A dónde podría alejarme de tu Espíritu? ¿A dónde podría huir de tu presencia? Si subiera al cielo, allí estás tú; si tendiera mi lecho en el fondo del abismo, también estás allí. Si me elevara sobre las alas del alba, o me estableciera en los extremos del mar, aun allí tu mano me guiaría, ¡me sostendría tu mano derecha! Y, si dijera: «Que me oculten las tinieblas; que la luz se haga noche en torno mío», ni las tinieblas serían oscuras para ti, y aun la noche sería clara como el día. ¡Lo mismo son para ti las tinieblas que la luz!” Salmo 139:7-12 (NVI).

No intentes jugar a las escondidas con Dios. Cada lugar en el que intentes esconderte, Él ya está ahí. Es la omnipresencia de Dios. ¡Él está en todos lados! Él está en todas las cosas. Él es el principio y el final. No hay lugar donde hayas estado, ningún lugar en el que estés y ningún lugar en el que vas a estar que Dios no estuvo o no esté o no estará. Eso debería animarte. No importa donde elijas ir, Dios caminará contigo, y Él estará listo para estar ahí esperándote.

Debido a que Dios está en cada dimensión del mundo —y aún en cada dimensión que no conocemos— puedes hablar con Él sobre cualquier dimensión de tu vida. ¡Él ya lo entiende! No hay nada que le puedas traer de tu pasado, presente o futuro que no esté bajo su completo control.

Tus oraciones nunca sorprenderán a Dios. ¡Le puedes traer todo a Él!

Count on God to Do the Impossible

“For there is nothing that God cannot do."

Luke 1:37 (GNT)

Never let an impossible situation intimidate you. Why? Because nothing is impossible with God.

The Bible says, “For there is nothing that God cannot do” (Luke 1:37 GNT).

Instead of being intimidated by a seemingly impossible situation, let it motivate you—to pray more, believe more, trust more, wait more, expect more, and depend on God more.

It doesn’t matter how impossible a situation may seem; you can be certain that “he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion” (Philippians 1:6 NIV). What God starts in your life, he will finish.

If you were to take the dictionary out of my office and look up the word “impossible,” you would find it isn’t in there—because I cut it out. I decided that if it’s not in God’s dictionary, it’s not going to be in mine.

Hudson Taylor, a missionary from the 1800s, said this about God doing the impossible in our lives: “There are three stages to every great work of God; first it is impossible, then it is difficult, then it is done.”

But Satan doesn’t want you to believe that nothing is impossible with God. He’ll tell you over and over, “Who do you think you are? You can’t do that. What makes you think you can be a man or woman of God?” When you believe and trust God for the impossible in your life, it’s an embarrassment for the Devil.

Maybe you’re in what looks like an impossible situation right now. Look to God and rely on his promises, and watch your situation move from impossible to possible—and then to done.

Talk It Over

What would you like God to do in your life that seems impossible right now?
If you truly believed that nothing was impossible with God, how would this next week look different for you?
When have you witnessed God doing the impossible, whether in your life or someone else’s?

Have you trusted God’s promise of salvation?

God can do the seemingly impossible in your life, and that starts with your salvation. Have you trusted him to forgive your sins and accept you into his family? If you’re ready to commit your life to Jesus, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, you have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I receive you into my life as my Lord and Savior. Today, I’m turning every part of my life over to you. I want to follow you and do what you tell me to do.

“Jesus, I am grateful for your love and for your sacrifice that makes it possible for me to join you in heaven. I know I don’t deserve it. And I thank you that I don’t have to earn or work for my salvation, because I know I never could. I want to use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I humbly commit my life to you, and I ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Para Orar Eficazmente, Conoce a Dios

“Pues, desde la creación del mundo, todos han visto los cielos y la tierra. Por medio de todo lo que Dios hizo, ellos pueden ver a simple vista las cualidades invisibles de Dios: su poder eterno y su naturaleza divina. Así que no tienen ninguna excusa para no conocer a Dios” Romanos 1:20 (NTV)  

La efectividad de tus oraciones no depende de cuánto sepas sobre la oración, sino de cuánto sepas acerca de Dios. Cuanto más conozcas a Dios, más efectivas serán tus oraciones. Más importante que aprender todo sobre la oración es conocer más acerca de Dios. Comienza sabiendo que Dios es multidimensional. Eso significa que Dios está en el pasado, presente y futuro. Está en la Tierra y en el mundo espiritual.

Aquí hay algunas formas en que puedes ver el carácter multidimensional de Dios.

Lo ves en la creación de Dios.

El Dios que creó un mundo y un universo multidimensionales es un Creador multidimensional. “Pues, desde la creación del mundo, todos han visto los cielos y la tierra. Por medio de todo lo que Dios hizo, ellos pueden ver a simple vista las cualidades invisibles de Dios: su poder eterno y su naturaleza divina. Así que no tienen ninguna excusa para no conocer a Dios” Romanos 1:20 (NTV).

Puedes aprender mucho sobre Dios con solo mirar la naturaleza. Por ejemplo, sabes que a Dios le gusta la variedad y que es organizado, creativo y poderoso. La creación es compleja, así que sabes que Dios tiene que ser aún más complejo.

Lo ves en la encarnación de Jesús.

Juan 1:14 dice: “Entonces la Palabra se hizo hombre y vino a vivir entre nosotros. Estaba lleno de amor inagotable y fidelidad. Y hemos visto su gloria, la gloria del único Hijo del Padre” (NTV).

Si Dios hubiera querido comunicarse con las hormigas, se habría convertido en una hormiga. Si hubiera querido comunicarse con las vacas, se habría convertido en una vaca. Pero Dios quería comunicarse con los seres humanos y amarlos, así que se convirtió en uno de nosotros.

Jesús no está limitado por el espacio ni el tiempo, porque es multidimensional: “Gracia y paz a ustedes de aquel que es, que siempre era y que aún está por venir; y del Espíritu de siete aspectos que está delante de su trono” Apocalipsis 1: 4 (NTV).

Lo ves en cómo se mueve el Espíritu Santo.

“El viento sopla hacia donde quiere. De la misma manera que oyes el viento, pero no sabes de dónde viene ni adónde va, tampoco puedes explicar cómo las personas nacen del Espíritu” Juan 3:8 (NTV).

¡No puedes poner al Espíritu Santo en una caja! No puedes controlarlo. Es como el viento. No sabes de dónde viene y no sabes a dónde va. Se mueve en dimensiones en las que nosotros no nos movemos.

No permitas que este sea el final de tu estudio sobre el carácter multidimensional de Dios. Conocer a Dios es una búsqueda de toda la vida, una que hará que tu vida sea más dulce y más significativa cada día.

Si no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Si estás listo para cruzar esa línea y tomar la decisión de creer en Jesucristo y seguirlo, haz esta oración:

“Querido Jesús, me has prometido que, si creo en ti, todo lo que hice mal será perdonado, aprenderé el propósito de mi vida y un día me aceptarás en tu hogar eterno en el cielo.

Confieso mi pecado y creo que tú eres mi Salvador. Me has prometido que, si confieso mi pecado y confío en ti, seré salvo. Confío en ti cuando dices que la salvación viene por gracia, por fe, y no por nada de lo que hago. Te recibo en mi vida como mi Señor. Hoy entrego cada parte de mi vida a tu dirección. Tienes derecho a tomar las decisiones en mi vida.

Jesús, quiero usar el resto de mi vida para servirte en lugar de servirme a mí mismo. Te entrego mi vida y te pido que me salves y me aceptes en tu familia. En tu nombre oro. Amén”.

Don’t Stop Dreaming Great Dreams

“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams."

Ephesians 3:20 (The Message)

God gives everyone different dreams so that all his purposes are fulfilled in the world. That’s why you’re passionate about some things and couldn’t care less about others. God made you to be you. And you’re responsible to fulfill the dream he gave you.

But how do you know if your dream is from God? There are two ways you can tell. One, a God-given dream will somehow help others; it won’t be self-centered. And, two, a dream God gives will be so big that you won’t be able to achieve it in your own power. It’s as if God says, “The dream I have for you is so big that you’re bound to fail if you don’t depend on me.”

Many people hold back from dreaming great dreams—and you’ll often hear them say one of three things:

1. “I don’t have a dream because they’re scary.” Well, of course they’re scary. That’s why dreams require faith. Every major decision I’ve made in the last 40-plus years as pastor of Saddleback Church has scared me to death. So I just decided a long time ago not to base my life on fear—and, instead, just to do the thing that I fear.

That’s what courage is. If you’re not afraid, you don’t need courage. Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is when you do what you know God has told you to do even though it scares you.

2. “I’m not going after my dream because I don’t have peace about it.” The truth is that you’re not going to have peace about a dream until you take the first step towards it. God doesn’t give you the peace you need before you make the move. Of course you have fears, but when you step into the water and watch the waves part, peace comes.

3. “I used to have a dream, but it never happened.” If God has given you a dream and it hasn’t come true yet, don’t despair. There’s always a delay between the dream and the fulfillment. In fact, delays are part of the journey because God uses them to build your faith. God’s timing is always perfect.

The Bible says, “God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams” (Ephesians 3:20 The Message).

God uses your dreams—the scary dreams, the dreams you don’t have peace about, and the dreams that haven’t happened yet—to grow your faith and do great things!

Dios es Bueno, Incluso Cuando Estás Sufriendo

“«Mis pensamientos no se parecen en nada a sus pensamientos—dice el Señor—. Y mis caminos están muy por encima de lo que pudieran imaginarse. Pues, así como los cielos están más altos que la tierra, así mis caminos están más altos que sus caminos y mis pensamientos, más altos que sus pensamientos”. Isaías 55:8-9 (NTV)

Probablemente hubo muchas veces que has orado por algo y Dios no respondió de la manera que querías, o sientes que no respondió en absoluto.

¿Significa eso que la oración no funciona? No, porque la he visto funcionar demasiadas veces. ¿Significa que Dios no es bueno? No, Dios es bueno, tengas dolor o no. ¿Significa que debes renunciar a la oración? ¡No! Dios no es una máquina expendedora y la oración no es un analgésico. No nos ha garantizado una vida sin dolor.

Cuando tienes dolor y oras, pero no ves las respuestas, no te rindas. Tu trabajo es seguir orando y seguir confiando en Dios, porque sabes que todo lo que Él hace y permite en tu vida, lo usará para bien. Dios es un buen padre, incluso cuando estás sufriendo.

Si un médico te hace una cirugía, eso te causará algo de dolor. Pero si esa cirugía te salva la vida, no dirías que el médico fue malo; reconocerías que el dolor que tuviste que soportar te salvó la vida.

Cuando Dios no termina inmediatamente con lo que te causa dolor, te está diciendo en ese momento: “Este dolor puede parecer demasiado. Pero mi gracia es suficiente para ti”.

He tenido mucho dolor en mi vida. Y, de hecho, casi todo lo que he aprendido en la vida, lo he aprendido a través del dolor. Eso es porque Dios está más interesado en hacerme un hombre de carácter que en hacerme sentir cómodo. Dios está más interesado en hacerte un hombre o una mujer de carácter que en hacerte sentir cómodo. Si no tuvieras ningún dolor o dificultad en tu vida, nunca llegarías a la madurez. No sabes que Dios es todo lo que necesitas hasta que Dios es todo lo que tienes.

Dios quiere el bien para tu vida, incluso más que tú. ¿Confiarás en Él?

Two Ways God Grows Your Faith

“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness."

Colossians 2:7 (NLT)

God doesn’t want you to have just any faith. He wants you to have a strong and vigorous faith—not a wimpy faith that collapses when things get tough.

The Bible says in Colossians 2:7, “Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness” (NLT).

How does God grow a strong faith like that?

The first way God grows your faith is through his Word. He wants you to know the Bible—to read the Bible, listen to the Bible, study the Bible, memorize the Bible, and talk about the Bible. Why? Because God’s Word says, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17 NKJV).

If your faith is weak, you’re likely not in the Bible very often. But the more you’re in God’s book, the more it will feed your soul. God’s Word is soul food, and spending time in it is the easiest way to grow your faith.

The second way God grows your faith is the hard way—and that’s through circumstances that test you. While you may read the Bible only a little bit each day, you have things happening all around you 24 hours a day. Your circumstances are what God most often uses to grow your faith and build your character.

Faith is like a muscle. You don’t grow muscle without some sort of resistance. The only way you grow a muscle is by stretching it, testing it, and putting weight on it. The same is true with faith. You don’t grow faith just by sitting around and saying, “Oh, I want more faith.” Faith needs to be tested. So God allows circumstances in your life to build your faith muscle.

Because God cares so much about your faith, you can know that he will always answer this prayer: “Increase our faith” (Luke 17:5 NIV). Make that your prayer as God grows your faith through his Word and through circumstances that test you.

La Cruz hace Posible la Oración

“Si Dios no se guardó ni a su propio Hijo, sino que lo entregó por todos nosotros, ¿no nos dará también todo lo demás?” Romanos 8:32 (NTV)

 Debido a que Dios siempre es bueno, pone tu bien incluso por encima del suyo.

Estas son las Buenas Nuevas: que el Rey se sacrifica por su pueblo. En los cuentos de hadas, todo el mundo muere por el rey y protege al rey a toda costa. Solo hay una historia en el mundo donde el Rey muere por su pueblo. Se llama el Evangelio.

El cristianismo está marcado por una historia única, diferente de todas las demás religiones del mundo. Dios dice que has pecado y mereces castigo. Pero ese no es el final de la historia. La esperanza se encuentra en Romanos 6:23, donde la Biblia dice: “Pues la paga que deja el pecado es la muerte, pero el regalo que Dios da es la vida eterna por medio de Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor” (NTV).

Esto significa que, debido a que Dios es justo, alguien debe pagar por tu pecado. Pero como es un Dios santo y bueno y te ama, hizo un plan para salvarte. Vino a la Tierra como el Hijo de Dios, Jesucristo, y murió por tus pecados. Esta es la máxima expresión de amor: el Rey muriendo por su pueblo, el Pastor muriendo por sus ovejas.

Nadie se ha ofrecido a pagar por tus pecados, excepto Dios. Jesús no murió en la cruz debido al gobierno romano. Murió por amor. Te amó tanto que estuvo dispuesto a morir por ti, porque es un Dios bueno y misericordioso.

Lo que Dios hizo por ti en la cruz hace posible la oración.

“Si Dios no se guardó ni a su propio Hijo, sino que lo entregó por todos nosotros, ¿no nos dará también todo lo demás?” Romanos 8:32 (NTV).

Cuando Jesucristo murió por ti en la cruz, resolvió tu mayor problema. ¡Cualquier otro problema que tengas en tu vida es pequeño para Él! Si Dios te amó lo suficiente como para morir por ti, en su bondad, ¿no crees que te ama lo suficiente como para ayudarte con tus facturas, tu salud y tus relaciones? Nada es demasiado grande para Dios. Pero, además, nada de lo que te importa es demasiado pequeño para hablar con Él.

No hay nada que no puedas llevar a Dios en oración. Él te amó lo suficiente como para morir por ti, y te ama lo suficiente como para responder a tus oraciones.

Don’t Be Afraid to Take Risks

“Glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes."

Ephesians 3:20 (TLB)

What does it mean to have bold faith? It means taking risks.

The Bible says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6 NIV).

You see an example of taking risks in the parable of the talents. In Matthew 25, Jesus tells the story of a man who went away for a while and gave his servants some “talents”—a large amount of money. He gave one person one talent, another person two talents, and another person five talents.

The five-talent person invested his money and doubled it. The two-talent person invested it and got two more talents. When the master came back and saw what they had done, he said to them, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23 NIV).

But the person who was given one talent became afraid, so he hid his talent in the ground. When the master saw this, he said, “You wicked, lazy servant . . . you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest” (Matthew 25:26-27 NIV).

The lesson Jesus wants us to learn is this: God wants you to take risks in faith. If you make the most of what he’s given you, then you’re going to be given even more. But if you’re scared and take no risks, then you’re actually being unfaithful—you’re not acting in faith—with what God’s given you.

I remember when Saddleback Church was buying our 120-acre campus in Orange County, California. People in the community began to ask, “Who do those people think they are, buying that much land in Orange County?”

When I heard them, I thought, “Wrong question.” The right question is: “Who do we think God is?” Then we let the size of our God determine the size of our goal.

Ephesians 3:20 says, “Glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes” (TLB).

So, go ahead, take big risks and have bold faith. Because God says to you, “I can take your biggest dream—and top it!”

What are some common barriers to practicing bold faith?
Think of a difficult circumstance or struggling relationship in your life. How would it be different if you started relying on God’s mighty power instead of your own strength?
Who in your life is a role model of someone who practices bold faith? What aspect of their faith stands out the most?

Dios Perdona Porque Él es Bueno

“No nos castiga por todos nuestros pecados; no nos trata con la severidad que merecemos. Llevó nuestros pecados tan lejos de nosotros como está el oriente del occidente”. Salmo 103:10, 12 (NTV)

 Dios siempre te da lo que necesitas, no lo que mereces.

No hay fin para el este y el oeste. Dios toma tus pecados y simplemente los borra.

Cuando el rey David en la Biblia cometió adulterio y luego lo encubrió haciendo que asesinaran al esposo de Betsabé, ¿merecía David ser perdonado? No. ¿David merecía misericordia? No. Pero David sabía que Dios es un Dios bueno, por lo que pidió misericordia: “Ten misericordia de mí, oh, Dios, debido a tu amor inagotable; a causa de tu gran compasión, borra la mancha de mis pecados.  Lávame de la culpa hasta que quede limpio y purifícame de mis pecados” Salmo 51:1-2 (NTV).

Cuando pecas, puedes hacer la misma oración. Y puedes orarlo con confianza porque se basa en quién es Dios, no en quién eres ni en lo que has hecho.

Dios te perdona, no porque seas bueno, sino porque Él es bueno. No tienes que intentar ser lo suficientemente bueno. ¡Nunca serás lo suficientemente bueno! Eso es lo asombroso de la gracia de Dios.

Cuando le pides perdón a Dios, Él te perdona de manera inmediata y completamente. Esta es una muy buena negociación. Sea lo que sea que hayas hecho, Dios no te rechaza cuando pecas. Él te recibe con brazos abiertos y amorosos.

Esto es sorprendente para nosotros porque es exactamente lo contrario de lo que hace la gente. Cuando pecas contra alguien, ¿quieren recibirte de regreso? Absolutamente no. Quieren estar distantes y alejarte. No quieren recibirte, porque los has lastimado.

Pero Dios es amor y está lleno de bondad. Te ama porque el amor es su naturaleza. Su bondad y su amor son la razón por la que obtienes lo que necesitas, no lo que te mereces.

No mereces la gracia y el perdón, ninguno de nosotros lo merece. ¡Gracias a Dios que nos lo da de todos modos!

God Wants You to Do, Not Just to Hear

“Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

James 1:22 (ESV)

God wants you to focus on doing what he tells you to do, not on just hearing what he tells you to do. He calls you to be an active follower of Jesus, not just a passive listener.

The Bible says, “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves” (James 1:22 ESV).

The truth is, you can listen to sermons and study the Bible for decades. But if you never do anything about what you’ve heard and learned, you’re deceiving yourself and not really growing more like Christ.

D.L. Moody, an influential evangelist and Christian educator of the late 19th century, once said, “The Bible was not given to increase our knowledge, but to change our lives.” It’s a manual for living.

The Bible says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV).

That verse points to four things about God’s Word. It shows you the path to walk on; that’s doctrine. It shows you where you got off the path; that’s reproof. It shows you how to get back on the path; that’s correction. And it shows you how to stay on the path; that’s instruction in righteousness. God’s Word is practical, real-world truth.

The problem is, most of us know a lot more than we actually put into practice. You say you believe in forgiveness, but do you forgive the people who’ve hurt you? You say you believe in waiting on God, but are you patient? God doesn’t want you to just take notes and say you believe things about his Word. He wants you to be a doer of his Word.

Jesus said in Matthew 28:20: “Teach them to do everything I have commanded you” (GW). He didn’t say, “Teach them to know everything I commanded you” or “Teach them to think about everything I commanded you.” He said, “Teach them to do.”

Don’t fool yourself into thinking that hearing God’s Word also means you’re applying God’s Word. Make plans to do something about what you hear so that you can grow into the person God created you to be.
