Prepara tu Destino para que puedas Ayudar a otros a Hacer lo Mismo

“Solo como ser humano podía morir y solo mediante la muerte podía quebrantar el poder del diablo, quien tenía el poder sobre la muerte. Únicamente de esa manera el Hijo podía libertar a todos los que vivían esclavizados por temor a la muerte”. Hebreos 2:14b-15 (NTV)

Una de las cosas que Jesús vino a hacer a la Tierra es quitarte el temor a la muerte. ¿Cómo? Muriendo en la cruz y resucitando para demostrar que hay vida después de la muerte.

La Biblia dice en Hebreos 2:14b-15: “Solo como ser humano podía morir y solo mediante la muerte podía quebrantar el poder del diablo, quien tenía el poder sobre la muerte. Únicamente de esa manera el Hijo podía libertar a todos los que vivían esclavizados por temor a la muerte” (NTV).

Dios quiere romper el temor a morir en tu vida. En lugar de mirar tu dolor aquí en la Tierra, Dios quiere que lo mires a Él y a la esperanza del Cielo. Y quiere que ayudes a los que están muriendo a hacer lo mismo.

Cuando alguien se está muriendo, tienes que animarle a hacer lo que hizo David: “y me encontré ante las trampas de la muerte. En mi angustia invoqué al Señor” Salmo 18:5b-6a (NVI). ¿Has hecho alguna vez eso? ¿Has clamado al Señor por Su gracia y misericordia y has aceptado Su ofrecimiento de salvación? No puedes ofrecer a otras personas lo que tú mismo no has recibido. Si no has resuelto la cuestión de tu salvación, estás jugando con tu eternidad.

Si murieras hoy, ¿estás absolutamente seguro de que irás al Cielo? Si no estás seguro o respondiste “no”, necesitas resolver el asunto ahora mismo para que puedas estar seguro de la vida después de la muerte y señalar a tus amigos la esperanza del Cielo.

Haz esta oración: “Querido Dios, tú eres Dios y yo no. Tú enviaste a Jesús para que fuera mi Salvador, así que debo necesitar ser salvado. Necesito que perdones las cosas que he hecho mal en la vida. Necesito que me des un nuevo comienzo en la vida. Necesito que me ayudes a conocer mi propósito. Quiero comenzar una relación contigo. Te pido que entres en mi vida. Quiero aprender a confiar en ti. Quiero aprender a amarte. Quiero aprender a amar a otras personas como tú quieres que lo haga. Así que te pido hoy con humildad, honestidad y sinceridad que por favor me salves mientras pongo mi confianza en ti. Hago esta oración en el nombre de Jesús. Amén”.

God Turns Messes into Masterpieces

“God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life."

Psalm 51:10 (The Message)

One day, God had a message for a prophet named Jeremiah. He told him to go to a potter’s house and watch the potter make clay pots.

As Jeremiah watched the potter molding and fixing the clay, he noticed something: “Whenever the pot the potter was working on turned out badly, as sometimes happens when you are working with clay, the potter would simply start over and use the same clay to make another pot” (Jeremiah 18:4 The Message).

After Jeremiah saw this object lesson, God gave him a message for Israel: “Watch this potter. In the same way that this potter works his clay, I work on you” (Jeremiah 18:6 The Message).

You may have really made a mess of your life. Your “pot” is scarred from poor decisions that you made and things that were done to you. As a result, your life has not turned out as you intended.

But you are the clay; you’re not the potter. God is the potter, and he doesn’t discard clay that’s been misshapen by circumstances. He doesn’t waste the pain that you’ve been through.

God doesn’t throw out the personality and the essence of who he created you to be. Instead, he takes every part of you—the good, the bad, and the ugly. He puts it all in his gentle but strong hands. And then he starts over with shaping your life, applying pressure at just the right places to mold you and remake you into a beautiful, priceless piece of art.

That’s what happens when you surrender yourself completely to God’s loving hands.

God specializes in fresh starts. You can have a new beginning today, simply by starting with King David’s prayer in Psalm 51:10: “God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life” (The Message).

It’s never too late to start over. Bring whatever chaos is in your life to God, the Great Potter. Trust him to do a new work in your life.

Pequeños Gestos Considerados Hacen una Gran Diferencia

“Hermanos, les rogamos que amonesten a los perezosos. Alienten a los tímidos. Cuiden con ternura a los débiles. Sean pacientes con todos”. 1 Tesalonisenses 5:14b (NTV)

Cuando estás ministrando a un amigo que está muriendo, debes brindarle tu presencia física pero también una ayuda práctica. ¿Qué significa? Significa que haces lo que sea necesario hacer para ayudar a tu amigo, incluso ayudas con cosas pequeñas pero prácticas.

Las personas que están muriendo por lo general no se sienten bien. Con frecuencia están adoloridas. Tú puedes brindarles comodidad al atender a las pequeñas cosas que pueden hacer una gran diferencia. ¿Quieren tener las luces apagadas o prendidas? ¿Puedes conseguir algo de hielo? ¿Necesitan un masaje en la espalda? Muestras amor al ofrecer ayuda práctica para aliviar el dolor o el malestar.

No tengas miedo de hacer preguntas. No tengas miedo de dar sugerencias. La Biblia dice, “Alienten a los tímidos. Cuiden con ternura a los débiles. Sean pacientes con todos” 1 Tesalonisenses 5:14b (NTV).

Cuando las personas se sienten adoloridas no se sienten felices. Cuando las personas están muriendo, con frecuencia se ponen irritables porque no se siente bien. Muestras compasión cuando actúas de forma relajada y les muestras cariño y paciencia.

¿Por qué es tan importante? Porque otro de los miedos que tienen las personas cuando están muriendo es perder el control. Primero no pudieron manejar, ahora no pueden caminar o levantarse de la cama o usar el baño por sí mismos.

Puedes ministrar a personas que están muriendo simplemente estando consciente de sus necesidades, pero también dándoles opciones de cómo quieren que estas necesidades sean satisfechas. Cada vez que les das una opción, les estás dando de vuelta el control.  “¿Quieres tener las pantuflas puestas o quieres quitártelas?” “¿Quieres que cambie de canal? ¿Qué te gustaría ver?” ”¿Quieres tu desayuno ahora o después?”

A veces el más pequeño gesto puede hacer un impacto enorme en alguien que está enfrentando la muerte. Tu presencia es un ministerio en sí misma, lo mismo que tu compasión a través de una ayuda práctica.

To Change Your Life, Change Your Thoughts

“Happy are those who . . . find joy in obeying the Law of the LORD, and they study it day and night. They are like trees that grow beside a stream, that bear fruit at the right time, and whose leaves do not dry up. They succeed in everything they do.”

Psalm 1:1-3 (GNT)

If you want to change your life, start by changing the way you think.

Changing your thoughts is the key to a fresh start in any area—a hobby, a career, a relationship, marriage, or parenting. Ephesians 4:23 says, “Be continually renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh, untarnished mental and spiritual attitude]” (AMP).

What is a renewed mind? It means you have fresh thoughts and fresh attitudes. It means you take your wrong attitudes and thoughts and surrender them, letting “God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God—what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect” (Romans 12:2 GNT).

You renew your mind by doing two things:

First, listen to God’s Word more than the world. The Bible says, “Happy are those who . . . find joy in obeying the Law of the LORD, and they study it day and night. They are like trees that grow beside a stream, that bear fruit at the right time, and whose leaves do not dry up. They succeed in everything they do” (Psalm 1:1-3 GNT). Would you like those characteristics to be true of your life? If so, then meditate on God’s Word every day.

Second, think about what you think about. Instead of automatically accepting every thought you have, challenge your thoughts. When you have a thought, ask questions like: Do I want to think about this? Is this really true? Is this helpful? How does it make me feel—and do I want to feel that way?

The Bible tells us to “take every thought captive and make it obey Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5 GNT).

All your feelings are caused by thoughts. If you don’t like the way you feel, then you need to change the way you think. Simply take the thought causing bad feelings and replace it with a different thought.

The Bible says, “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts” (Proverbs 4:23 GNT).

Instead of playing old tapes over and over again in your mind, confront those thoughts. What you think about is your choice, and you don’t have to believe every thought you have. When you confront a thought that you know isn’t true, you can choose to change what you’re thinking! You can replace it with God’s truth.

The only way to know truth is to get in God’s Word. The more time you choose to spend in God’s Word, the more his truth will help you change your thoughts.

Start changing your thinking today. It will give you a fresh start, and eventually it will change your life!

¿Por qué Crees que es tan Difícil Hablar de la Muerte?

“Nadie puede vivir para siempre; todos morirán; nadie puede escapar del poder de la tumba”. Salmos 89:48 (NTV)

Antes de que puedas ayudar a alguien que se está enfrentando a la muerte, tienes que  enfrentar tus propios temores en relación con la muerte.

La muerte expone nuestros miedos ocultos. Nos hace sentir expuestos, normalmente nos esconderíamos. Nos hemos estado escondiendo de nuestros temores desde que Adán y Eva se escondieron de Dios a causa de su desnudez.

¿Cuáles son los temores que tienes en relación con las personas que están muriendo?

Tal vez tienes miedo de que vayas a decir algo incorrecto, tienes miedo de que vayas a empeorar las cosas o tal vez tienes miedo de que te equivoques y como resultado, no haces nada.

No puedo contar el número de personas con las que he estado cuando tomaron su último respiro. He visto muchas personas morir. Permítanme tranquilizarte un poco: Es casi imposible equivocarse, ellos ya saben que se están muriendo. Sólo por estar ahí, vas a hacer la diferencia.

Al contrario de lo que ves en las películas y televisión, hay muy pocos momentos “Distintivos” cuando la gente muere. Las personas no se sientan en la cama y dicen: “¡Te amo!” y luego mueren. Simplemente no sucede de esa manera. Hay muy pocas declaraciones grandes o gestos atrevidos.

La muerte es realmente muy común. No hay nada misterioso en ella. No es rara o  antinatural. La persona simplemente deja de respirar. Un minuto están aquí y en el siguiente ya no están.

La Biblia dice: “Nadie puede vivir para siempre; todos morirán; nadie puede escapar del poder de la tumba” Salmos 89:48 (NTV). El mayor error que puedes cometer con alguien que está muriendo es simplemente no estar ahí porque tienes miedo. Una vez que te enfrentes a tus temores sobre la muerte, podrás ayudar a tus amigos a enfrentarse a sus propios temores cuando llegue el momento.

How to Set Goals in Uncertain Times

“We should make plans—counting on God to direct us."

Proverbs 16:9 (TLB)

God is not moved by your complaints, regrets, or wishes. But he is moved by your faith. Matthew 9:29 says, “According to your faith let it be done to you” (NIV).

You know you’re acting in faith when you attempt to do something that you know you couldn’t do in your own power—something that requires you to rely on God.

Goal setting is an act of faith. Many people never set life goals because they fear failure and lack faith.

When you set a goal, it’s like saying, “God, with your help, I’m expecting to accomplish this specific task by this specific date.” That kind of goal is a statement of faith, and God honors faith.

If you’ve found it difficult to set goals during these uncertain times, especially because circumstances keep changing so quickly, then there are two things you can do.

First, you can do scenario goal setting. This means that you set up multiple goals and plans, depending on what scenario happens. For example, “I will do this by this date if this happens. On the other hand, I will do that by that date if that happens.”

Scenario goal setting is a legitimate way to plan for the future as you trust God during uncertain times. “We should make plans—counting on God to direct us” (Proverbs 16:9 TLB).

Second, you can focus on character goals rather than activity goals. In other words, you can set goals for what you want be instead of what you want to do. Who do you want to be this time next year? How do you want to be different? How do you want to be more like Christ? What weakness do you want to work on?

No matter how out of control the world feels, you can always make the choice to change and grow to become the person you want to be.

It’s time to get to work! Stop wondering what “could be” and start moving in faith. The Bible says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6 NIV). When you act in faith, God will honor your goals and help you reach the greatest goal: bringing glory to him.

I’m going to trust you and expect great things from you as I step forward in faith to attempt great things for you. I’m committed to your plan for my life. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen."

No te Limites a Deshacerte de tus Cosas ¡Véndelas!

“Arrojara sus ídolos detestables”. Ezequiel 20:7a (NVI)

Si estás atrapado en la trampa de las deudas, lo que necesitas es deshacerte de algunas de tus cosas. De hecho, si estás pagando el alquiler de una bodega para almacenar cosas, necesitas vender esas cosas esta semana. Cuando tienes tantas cosas que ni siquiera caben en tu casa, tienes un problema. ¡Estás pagando renta sólo para mantener las cosas! Necesitas tener una venta de garaje.

Si estás endeudado y no puedes ahorrar y no puedes diezmar y no puedes pagar tus impuestos y estás viviendo a crédito, necesitas ir a través de tus cosas y preguntar, “¿De qué nos podemos deshacer?”

Podrías decir, “Pero Rick, ¡ya está pago! ¿Por qué debería venderlo? “Una de las razones por las que podrías vender es porque no tienes como mantenerlo. En toda mi vida nunca me he preocupado acerca del mantenimiento de un barco. ¿Por qué? Porque yo no tengo un barco. Si quiero un barco, puedo ir a alquilar uno o pedir prestado uno. No tienes que poseer algo para poder disfrutarlo.

Si nos fijamos en tus pertenencias y decides que sólo hay algunas cosas que nunca podrás ser parte o es algo que Dios te ha dicho regalar y no has podido, necesitas entender esto: No eres el dueño de esa cosa. ¡Esa cosa te posee! Estás poseído por tus posesiones.

Hay una palabra para eso, ídolo. Un ídolo es algo aparte de Dios que decides tener y sin lo cual no puedes vivir. La Biblia dice: “arrojara sus ídolos detestables” Ezequiel 20:7a (NVI).

Pero simplemente no te deshagas de él. ¡Véndelo! Es uno de los pasos más prácticos que puedes tomar para salir de la deuda y cambiar tu forma de pensar financieramente —de modo que puedas honrar a Dios con tus gastos y ahorros.

God Has Prepared You for a Fresh Start

“You have everything when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Christ. He is the highest Ruler, with authority over every other power.”

Colossians 2:10 (TLB)

If you’re ready to make a fresh start, you need to take a personal inventory. That means you take stock of and evaluate what you’ve got to work with. When you do a personal inventory, ask yourself these three questions:

What are your assets?
Look at your physical assets, your educational assets, and your financial assets. And remember your spiritual assets as a child of God. Colossians 2:10 says, “You have everything when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Christ. He is the highest Ruler, with authority over every other power” (TLB).

What have you learned?
Take time to write down lessons you’ve learned about life, yourself, family, God—whatever you can think of. Galatians 3:4 says, “Did all your experience mean nothing at all?” (GNT) You won’t waste your experiences if you learn from them.

Especially pay attention to your painful experiences—because God never wastes a hurt. Instead of having a pity party, learn from your pain. Write down the lessons. Stop regretting and rehearsing your mistakes and start learning from them. Why? Because innovation is always built on failure. It’s how you recognize what doesn’t work.

You can also review what Bible teaching has taught you. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:14, “You must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you” (NLT).

Who can help you in your fresh start?
Proverbs 15:22 says, “Get all the advice you can, and you will succeed; without it you will fail” (GNT).

Pride often keeps people from reaching their dreams and goals. Instead of asking for advice, people insist on figuring things out themselves.

The Bible says pride leads to destruction. It also says that God gives grace to the humble. Why? Because the humble are teachable. You’re never going to have a fresh start if you act like you’ve already arrived. You need other people to speak truth, point out your blind spots, encourage you, and help you remember God’s promises.

When you take a thorough, honest inventory of your life, you’ll see how God has prepared you to make a fresh start.

El presupuesto: Conociendo tu Situación Financiera

“ Una casa se edifica con sabiduría y se fortalece por medio del buen juicio ”. Proverbios 24:3 (NTV)

Uno de los pasos más importantes para la libertad financiera es hacer una lista de todo lo que tienes, todo lo que debes, y todo lo que ganas. ¡Esto se llama llevar cuentas claras! Es el principio de la contabilidad.

La Biblia dice: “Una casa se edifica con sabiduría y se fortalece por medio del buen juicio” Proverbios 24:3 (NTV). Eres sabio con tu dinero cuando sabes dónde está, dónde está yendo y de dónde viene.

La gente dice que el dinero habla. ¡En realidad no habla! Se va calladamente. Si llegas a fin de mes y te preguntas: “¿Dónde se fue mi dinero?” significa que no estás llevando un presupuesto. Cuando tienes un presupuesto, eres tú quien le dice a tu dinero dónde quieres que vaya en vez de preguntarte a dónde se fue. Un presupuesto, sencillamente, es el gasto planificado.

¿Por qué este principio de llevar bien las cuentas y saber lo que debes, lo que recibes y lo que tienes es tan importante? Porque la ignorancia más el crédito fácil es igual a desastre. ¡Es un desastre!

Cuando vayas a una tienda, no lleves tu tarjeta de crédito. Si no estás seguro si puedes o no permitirte una compra, ya estás en problemas. Es una insensatez decidir antes de conocer los hechos. No es sabio comprar algo antes de saber si lo podrás pagar. La única forma de saber dónde estás exactamente con tus finanzas es llevando buenos registros y presupuestando tus gastos.

Haz tu lista, conoce los hechos de tu situación financiera, y vive de acuerdo a ellos.

In Trying Times, Keep Trying

“Don't give up and be helpless in times of trouble."

Proverbs 24:10 (CEV)

Life is filled with things you can’t control, and many people let that keep them from pursuing the dream God has put in their heart. In the middle of uncontrollable circumstances and problems, learn to live your life for God and do whatever he’s called you to do.

In other words, you control the controllables and trust God for the rest. You can control your attitude, your reactions, and how much you trust God. Those are your choices.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have put everything on hold in their life. They act like they’re in limbo, and so they do nothing. They’re just waiting. And they’re the ones getting the most frustrated.

You may not be able to do everything you’d like to do right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do something. It doesn’t mean you should coast passively and waste these days during the pandemic.

Limitations are opportunities for creativity. When our church was unable to meet in person for worship, we were more active and effective in the other four purposes of our church: fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and mission.

The first year of the pandemic could have been our worst year—and it certainly felt like the worst in many ways—yet it ended up being our church’s greatest year for starting small groups, developing disciples, launching ministries in the community, and reaching more nonbelievers than we’ve ever reached before. This happened because so many people understood that the church is far more than just a worship service. It’s family, and it is active every day of the week, not just on Sunday.

We couldn’t control how the pandemic kept us from worshipping together. But we could control how we responded and chose to use the resources that were still available to us.

Proverbs 24:10 says, “Don’t give up and be helpless in times of trouble” (CEV).

Have you stopped trying? Have you given up on something because you lost control of some part of it?

During trying times, you’ve got to keep trying. There is a lot of trouble in the world right now, but you’re not helpless. Look up and outside of yourself. Change your attitude. Take stock of your resources and use them to help others.

This could be your greatest year.
