No Dejes a Dios Esperando

“Así que el Señor esperará a que ustedes acudan a él para mostrarles su amor y su compasión. Pues el Señor es un Dios fiel. Benditos son los que esperan su ayuda”. Isaías 30:18 (NTV)

 Dios anhela estar cerca de ti.

Si estás lejos de alguien a quien amas durante mucho tiempo, no puedes esperar para hablar con esa persona. Si no has estado cerca de Dios, Él no puede esperar a que hables con Él, porque te ama mucho. ¡Y siempre está disponible! Tiene un sistema de acceso directo las 24 horas, los 7 días de la semana. Nunca está desconectado. Puedes hablar con Él en cualquier momento del día.

¿Sabías que cada día que pasas sin orar y pasar tiempo con Dios y su Palabra, Dios te está esperando? Fuiste hecho para esto. Fuiste hecho para conocer a Dios y tener una relación con Él. El Señor espera que vengas a Él para que pueda mostrarte su amor y compasión. ¡Es toda la razón por la que existes!

Algunos padres conocen el dolor de un niño que no puede hablar por una razón física o emocional. Cuando los amas, pero no puedes tener una conversación con ellos, es un dolor en el corazón. Otros son padres de un niño que puede hablar, pero no lo hace. Han sido excluidos de la vida de sus hijos. Cuando anhelas una llamada telefónica que quizás nunca llegue, eso también es un dolor en el corazón.

Eso es lo que Dios siente por ti cuando no le hablas. ¿Pasas días o semanas sin compartir tu corazón, lo que sientes y lo que necesitas, tus dudas y miedos, tus altibajos? Cuando pasas tanto tiempo sin hablar con Él, Dios está pensando: “Yo te creé. Te amo. Quiero una relación contigo. ¿Por qué te alejas de mí?

No te pierdas la oportunidad de hablar con el Dios que te creó. No te pusieron en este planeta para marcar cosas de tu lista de tareas pendientes. Fuiste puesto en este planeta para ser amado por Dios y aprender a amarlo a Él. Fuiste elegido para ser su hijo. Fuiste formado para su familia. Fuiste creado para el compañerismo.

Dios dice: “Quiero que demuestren amor, no que ofrezcan sacrificios. Más que ofrendas quemadas, quiero que me conozcan” Oseas 6:6 (NTV).

Dios está esperando que le hables. ¡No lo hagas esperar más!

The Benefits of Belonging to a Church Family, Part 2

“[God] made us, and we belong to him; we are his people, we are his flock."

Psalm 100:3 (GNT)

Belonging to a church family has many benefits. Yesterday we looked at two of those benefits: Through the church, you learn your true identity and you are supported by others. Today we’ll look at three more benefits.

You discover your unique value. Everyone is unique. Nowhere else on Earth is there anyone like you. That’s why the church needs you—to make the body complete. Romans 12:4-5 says, “Just as there are many parts to our bodies, so it is with Christ’s body. We are all parts of it, and it takes every one of us to make it complete, for we each have different work to do. So we belong to each other, and each needs all the others” (TLB). You need other people, and they need you.

You receive protection. Psalm 100:3 says, “[God] made us, and we belong to him; we are his people, we are his flock” (GNT). What’s the benefit of being part of God’s flock? You are defended and cared for. You have other people looking out for you. And you can enjoy the safety and security that come from belonging to a family who trusts in Jesus, the Good Shepherd.

Being connected to God’s church—God’s flock—also makes you more confident and less anxious. When you’re struggling in the business world, you can say, “I’m not on my own.” When your relationships are strained, you can say, “I’m not on my own.” Or when you’re facing a health crisis, you can say, “I’m not on my own.” Why? Because you belong to a church family that loves you.

You become productive. Most people want their life to count. They want to make a difference. How can you best do that? By staying connected to a church family. And that’s the key—you have to stay connected.

Jesus said, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener . . . you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:1, 5 NIV).

The point is this: You’ll never be as productive as God intended for you to be if you’re not connected to a church family. Your church teaches you the right questions to ask and the right priorities to set. A cut-off branch cannot bear fruit. But when you’re connected to the true vine, Jesus, life-giving energy flows through you to others.

Nothing in the world can give you what the church gives you. Only the church can meet your need for significance, stability, protection, productivity, and being valued.

Talk It Over

How is God using the talents and giftings of other people to benefit your life?
With everything going on in our world today, why is it important to seek the protection of a church family?

Think of someone who is making a huge difference in the world through their church. How do their efforts encourage you to do the same?

Have you trusted God’s promise of salvation?

If you’re ready to commit your life to Jesus, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, you have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I receive you into my life as my Lord and Savior. Today, I’m turning every part of my life over to you. I want to follow you and do what you tell me to do.

“Jesus, I am grateful for your love and for your sacrifice that makes it possible for me to join you in heaven. I know I don’t deserve it. And I thank you that I don’t have to earn or work for my salvation, because I know that is impossible. I want to use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I humbly commit my life to you, and I ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Mantén tus Oraciones Simples

“Cuando ores, no parlotees de manera interminable como hacen los gentiles. Piensan que sus oraciones recibirán respuesta solo por repetir las mismas palabras una y otra vez. No seas como ellos, porque tu Padre sabe exactamente lo que necesitas, incluso antes de que se lo pidas”. Mateo 6:7-8 (NTV)

Dios está mucho más interesado en las oraciones humildes y auténticas que en un sermón largo de oración. ¡Ve al grano!

Jesús tuvo mucho que decir en el Sermón del Monte sobre la oración simple, sin tratar de sonar súper espiritual:

“Cuando ores, no hagas como los hipócritas a quienes les encanta orar en público, en las esquinas de las calles y en las sinagogas donde todos pueden verlos. Les digo la verdad, no recibirán otra recompensa más que esa. Pero tú, cuando ores, apártate a solas, cierra la puerta detrás de ti y ora a tu Padre en privado. Entonces, tu Padre, quien todo lo ve, te recompensará. Cuando ores, no parlotees de manera interminable como hacen los gentiles. Piensan que sus oraciones recibirán respuesta solo por repetir las mismas palabras una y otra vez. No seas como ellos, porque tu Padre sabe exactamente lo que necesitas, incluso antes de que se lo pidas” Mateo 6:5-8 (NTV).

No tienes que convencer a Dios de lo que necesitas. ¡Él ya lo sabe! Simplemente acércate a Él de la manera más simple, honesta y humilde que puedas, y háblale de lo que necesitas. No uses la oración para lucirte. Estoy seguro de que has visto a gente hacer eso. Pero eso no significa que reciban crédito por ese tipo de oración. Dios no quiere escuchar ese tipo de oración.

En cambio, sé sincero. No digas clichés. No agregues rellenos porque tienes miedo de que tus oraciones sean demasiado cortas.

Habla con Dios como lo harías con un ser querido o un buen amigo. Así: “Dios, buen día. Gracias por este este nuevo día. Volveré a hablarte en tres minutos”. La oración es una conversación en curso. Puedes continuar donde lo dejaste en otro minuto y mantener la conversación abierta.

Agregar palabras a tu oración no la hace más eficaz. Mantenla simple, con un corazón sincero y una fe segura.

The Benefits of Belonging to a Church Family, Part 1

“When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.”

Romans 1:12 (NLT)

The better connected you are to a church family, the more you will experience everything the church has to offer.

What does the church have to offer? You get five benefits when you belong to a church family. Today we’ll be looking at the first two.

You learn your true identity. People often look for their identity in superficial things, such as their career, wealth, or favorite sports team. They may even try to find their identity in the brands of clothing they wear. But when you belong to Jesus, he gives you a whole new identity.

The Bible says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV).

When you belong to Jesus, God adopts you into his family, the church. Unlike your physical family—in which people die, grow apart, move away, or divorce—your spiritual family is permanent and will last for all eternity in heaven. Ephesians 2:19 says, “You are citizens with everyone else who belongs to the family of God” (CEV).

You are supported by others. Like the strong structure of a building, we hold each other up. Without the stable support system of a church, you may find yourself collapsing at some point in your life. You weren’t meant to do it all on your own. You need physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental support.

The Bible says, “In [Christ] the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit” (Ephesians 2:21-22 NIV).

Years ago, I began putting LEGO sets together with my grandkids. You know what I discovered? Each LEGO brick has no purpose on its own unless it’s connected to others. Disconnected, they’re just a pile of plastic. But when you connect them, you can build just about anything you can imagine.

Romans 1:12 says, “When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours” (NLT). That’s why we belong to the church—so God’s people can say together, “Your faith will help me, and my faith will help you.”

Where—other than in Jesus—are you sometimes tempted to place your identity?

Habla con Dios Sobre tus Intereses

“El Señor es como un padre con sus hijos, tierno y compasivo con los que le temen”. Salmo 103:13 (NTV)

 Dios ama que le hables de cualquier cosa. Lo que sea que te interese, a Dios también le interesa. Quiere que hables con Él sobre tus intereses por tres razones.

Dios te ama. Existes porque Dios quiere amarte. ¡Es la razón por la que estás vivo! Cuando amas a alguien, estás interesado en lo que le interesa. Hay muchas cosas que me interesan porque mi esposa está interesada en ellos, porque yo la amo. Dios siente lo mismo por ti, pero mil veces más.

Dios te dio esos intereses. Todos esos pasatiempos y deportes y todas las cosas que te gusta hacer. Obtuviste esos deseos de tu Creador. Te conectó con ellos, lo que significa que en realidad sabe lo que te interesa más que tú. Él te ama y se deleita en verte disfrutar de las cosas que te hizo amar.

Dios disfruta hablar con sus hijos. Él es tu Padre. Los padres están interesados ​​en lo que les interesa a sus hijos. ¿Alguna vez te aburres mientras oras? Si es así, es porque estás hablando de cosas de las que crees que deberías hablar, no de lo que realmente te interesa. Dios es un buen Padre y está interesado en lo que a ti te interesa.

La Biblia lo dice así: “El Señor es como un padre con sus hijos, tierno y compasivo con los que le temen” Salmo 103:13 (NTV).

Si eres padre, ¿esperaste hasta que tus hijos pudieran hablar para empezar a amarlos? Por supuesto que no. Los amaban profundamente, incluso antes de que nacieran o dijeran una palabra. Ya sea que hables con Dios en oración o no, Él te ama profundamente, al igual que un padre ama a un hijo antes de que no pueda comunicarse.

Pero a medida que los niños comienzan a crecer, los padres desean tener una conversación con ellos. Quieres saber lo que están pensando y sintiendo y compartir sus cargas y alegrías. Quieres deleitarte con sus intereses y escuchar su perspectiva.

Ese es el tipo de relación que Dios quiere tener contigo. Él te ama, te comuniques con Él o no. Pero anhela el día en que crezcas y le hables sobre las cosas que son importantes para ti.

Commit to Jesus and His Family

“The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ."

1 Corinthians 12:12 (NLT)

God never meant for you to go through life on your own. He wants you to be part of his family—the church. In fact, the church has been God’s plan from the very beginning.

Some people think of the church as a building, an institution, or an event you attend. The church isn’t any of those things. It’s a family you belong to.

The Bible says, “His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by sending Jesus Christ to die for us. And he did this because he wanted to!” (Ephesians 1:5 TLB)

When you’re part of the church, two things are true of you: You’re committed to Jesus, and you’re committed to the people in your church family. The Bible says in 2 Corinthian 8:5, “First they gave themselves to the Lord; and then, by God’s will they gave themselves to us as well” (GNT).

You give yourself to the Lord, and then you give yourself to a group of people in God’s family. The first choice makes you a Christian. The second choice connects you with other believers. I’m not the church. You’re not the church. But together, we are the church—the body of Christ.

What does it mean to be part of the body of Christ? The Bible says, “The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ” (1 Corinthians 12:12 NLT).

To understand how the church operates, look at the way God designed your body. Your hand, nose, spleen, and liver are all parts of your body. They all have separate functions, but together they make up one physical body—just like God’s church makes up one spiritual body.

That’s why you are such a necessary part of your church family. You can’t say, “My part—my talents and abilities—isn’t needed.” There are no unnecessary parts. We are all dependent on each other, and each of us has a different role to play.

God’s intention “from the very beginning of time” is that we live our lives together in his family.

Para Crecer Espiritualmente, Necesitas a otras Personas

“Espero poder estar con ustedes para que juntos podamos apoyarnos con la fe que tenemos. Su fe me ayudará a mí y mi fe los ayudará a ustedes”. Romanos 1:12 (PDT)  

No puedes alcanzar la madurez espiritual por ti mismo. Puedes intentarlo, pero te sentirás solo, débil y espiritualmente atrofiado. Cuanto más involucres a otras personas en tu vida que son fuertes en el Señor, más crecerás en madurez espiritual.

El crecimiento espiritual es relacional. ¡Estamos mejor juntos!

La Biblia dice: “Espero poder estar con ustedes para que juntos podamos apoyarnos con la fe que tenemos. Su fe me ayudará a mí y mi fe los ayudará a ustedes” Romanos 1:12 (PDT).

Hay 56 mandamientos “unos a otros” en la Biblia que no puedes obedecer a menos que estés en un grupo pequeño. Amense los unos a los otros. Cuídense unos a otros. Ayúdense unos a otros. Anímense unos a otros. Oren los unos por los otros. Comparta con los demás. Dios te hizo para que tengas que estar conectado en Su familia para poder crecer.

Lo primero que Dios quiere que aprendas en la vida es cómo amarlo a Él y a otras personas. La verdadera razón por la que no quieres estar en un grupo pequeño es la razón por la que necesitas estar en un grupo pequeño. Podrías pensar: “Pero, puede haber algunas personas que no estén de acuerdo conmigo o personas que estén irritables”. ¡Necesitas esas personas! Necesitas personas en tu vida que a veces piensen de manera diferente a ti, que desafíen tu egocentrismo y te enseñen a ser generoso y pensar en los demás.

Algunas personas nunca crecen. Están atrapados pensando que todo se trata de “mí”: horario, necesidades, problemas y prioridades.

A menudo, esas son las personas que se niegan a abrirse a la comunidad. Pero si el objetivo de la vida es aprender a amar, entonces tienes que salir de tu zona de comodidad y entrar en un grupo de personas que te apoyarán y animarán a cumplir tu propósito.

Solo crecemos en comunidad.

“Pensemos en maneras de motivarnos unos a otros a realizar actos de amor y buenas acciones. Y no dejemos de congregarnos, como lo hacen algunos, sino animémonos unos a otros, sobre todo ahora que el día de su regreso se acerca” Hebreos 10:24-25 (NTV).
