Dios Quiere pasar la Eternidad Contigo

“ Y, si el Espíritu de aquel que levantó a Jesús de entre los muertos vive en ustedes, el mismo que levantó a Cristo de entre los muertos también dará vida a sus cuerpos mortales por medio de su Espíritu, que vive en ustedes ”. Romanos 8:11 (NVI)

Dios nunca prometió que esta vida sería justa. Nosotros vivimos en un planeta quebrantado. El Cielo es donde todas las cosas se hacen conforme a la voluntad de Dios. La vida en la Tierra no funciona de esa manera. Pero lo que sucede en la Tierra no es todo lo que hay en la vida.

Pasas 60, 80, o quizás 100 años en la Tierra. Pasarás un sin fin de años en la eternidad. Si has puesto tu fe en Jesús, la Biblia dice que pasarás la eternidad con Dios en el Cielo.

Esa es una de las razones más importantes por la que los cristianos deben estar gozosos —¡Dios nos ha dado vida eterna!

La Biblia promete, “Y, si el Espíritu de aquel que levantó a Jesús de entre los muertos vive en ustedes, el mismo que levantó a Cristo de entre los muertos también dará vida a sus cuerpos mortales por medio de su Espíritu, que vive en ustedes” Romanos 8:11 (NVI).

La eternidad será asombrosa. ¿Cómo será el Cielo? Te reunirás con personas que amas. Tendrás recompensas. Tendrás descanso. Tendrás responsabilidades que amas.

Y, como dice 1 Corintios 15:42, tendrás un nuevo cuerpo porque, aunque tu cuerpo terrestre se quedará en la tierra, será levantado para vivir con Dios para siempre.

Fuiste creado porque Dios quiere una familia, y desea pasar la eternidad con su familia.   ¡Él quiere pasar la eternidad contigo y conmigo! Esa verdad te puede traer gran gozo.

Promesa de Pascua: No Hay Condenación Para los que Pertenecen a Cristo

Dios ha preparado una hermosa eternidad en el Cielo para su familia. Pero la Biblia dice que tú solo puedes llegar al Cielo confiando en Dios por medio de su Hijo, Jesucristo. No puedes ganarte el amor de Dios o trabajar tu camino al Cielo. La Biblia dice, “Porque por gracia ustedes han sido salvados mediante la fe; esto no procede de ustedes, sino que es el regalo de Dios, no por obras, para que nadie se jacte” Efesios 2:8-9 (NVI).

Si no has confiado en Jesús ni te has comprometido con Él, ¿por qué esperar más? Si estás listo para cruzar esa línea y tomar la decisión de creer en Jesucristo y seguirlo, haz esta oración:

“Padre, tu prometes que, si creo en Jesús, seré perdonado. Te ruego por tu perdón ahora. Yo sé que soy un pecador y que solamente tú puedes borrar el registro de todas las cosas malas que he hecho.

Jesucristo, yo creo que tu moriste para pagar por mis pecados. Yo creo que tú luego te levantaste de nuevo, quebrantando el poder de la muerte para que yo pueda tener vida eterna contigo en el Cielo. Gracias por salvarme. Gracias porque no tengo que ganar, merecer o trabajar por mi salvación. Es tu regalo de gracia. Todo lo que tengo que hacer es aceptarlo.

Hoy me alejo de mis pecados y te invito a que entres a mi corazón y vida. Quiero confiar y seguirte como mi Señor y Salvador.

Quiero usar el resto de mi vida para servirte. Gracias por amarme, salvarme, y aceptarme en tu familia. En tu nombre oro. Amén”.

The Only Distinction That Matters

“For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

Luke 19:10 (NLT)

In God’s eyes, there are only two kinds of people—saved people and lost people. Every one of us falls into one of these two categories. And, ultimately, no other human distinction matters.

God loves all people—regardless of gender, race, or culture. And he doesn’t distinguish people by their education, looks, wealth, or talent. What matters most to him is whether people are spiritually saved or lost.

“Saved” and “lost” imply value. The two words mean that God sees you as being worthy of seeking, saving, and finding; “saved” and “lost” are expressions of his love.

The Bible says, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost” (Luke 19:10 NLT). That’s how valuable you are. Jesus Christ came to earth to seek you and to save you.

Only valuable things get lost; invaluable things just get misplaced. In other words, nobody loses a toothpick. You may misplace a toothpick, but you don’t lose it—because it’s not that valuable.

If I lost my wedding ring, it would be a real loss because it represents over 40 years of commitment to my wife. Not only that, but Kay gave it to me, and I love her. I would never misplace my wedding ring; I would lose it.

So, when we talk about whether a person is spiritually saved or lost, we’re not talking about that person’s value. Whether someone is saved or lost, they’re incredibly valuable.

But God doesn’t want anyone to be spiritually lost. Why? Because it means they are disconnected from him and don’t have a relationship with him.

Over the next three days, we’re going to look at the question, “What do you actually lose when you’re spiritually lost?” The answers to this question will help you understand how much you matter to God and help you share this encouraging news with others.

Talk It Over

Have you—perhaps unconsciously—thought of people who are lost as having different value from those who are saved? How does it feel to know all people are of equal value to God?
What’s an example of something you have lost? What’s something you have misplaced? What was the value of each of those things to you?
Who in your life needs to hear how valuable they are to God? How can you take time to encourage them by telling them that today?

There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus

The Bible says in John 3:18, “Those who believe in the Son are not judged” (GNT). Romans 8:1 says it like this: “There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus”(NLT).

If you’re ready to accept that promise, stop fearing God’s judgment, and commit your life to Jesus, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, you have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, and I will learn the purpose of my life. Instead of judging me, you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I believe that you are God, my Savior. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Thank you that I don’t have to earn salvation, deserve it, or work for it. It is your gift of grace.

Today I’m turning over every part of my life to you. I want to use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I humbly commit my life to you, and I ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Dios te Diseñó Para Algo Mucho Mejor

“Así que no nos fijamos en lo visible, sino en lo invisible, ya que lo que se ve es pasajero, mientras que lo que no se ve es eterno”. 2 Corintios 4:18 (NVI)

Dios te creó para vivir en el Cielo con Él por la eternidad. El Cielo es tu hogar —no la Tierra.

Es por eso por lo que a veces experimentas descontento e insatisfacción en la vida. ¡No eres completamente feliz aquí porque no se supone que lo seas!

Si fueras totalmente feliz en la Tierra, puede que llegues a pensar que podrías vivir sin Dios. Pero Dios te creó para que anhelaras algo mucho mejor —un hogar en el Cielo con Él.

Un pez nunca podría ser feliz viviendo en la tierra, porque fue creado para el agua. Un águila nunca lograría sentirse satisfecha si no le permitieran volar.

Nunca lograrás sentirte completamente satisfecho en la Tierra, porque fuiste creado para algo mucho mejor. Tendrás momentos felices aquí, pero eso es nada comparado con lo que Dios tiene planificado para ti en la eternidad.

Es por esto por lo que algunas de las promesas de Dios parecen que no se cumplen, algunas oraciones parecen no ser contestadas, y algunas circunstancias parecen injustas. Esta vida no es el final de la historia.

Cuando te das cuenta de que la vida en la Tierra es solo temporal, esto altera tus valores radicalmente. Los valores eternos, no temporales, se vuelven en el factor determinante de tus decisiones.

La Biblia nos dice que “no nos fijamos en lo visible, sino en lo invisible, ya que lo que se ve es pasajero, mientras que lo que no se ve es eterno” 2 Corintios 4:18 (NVI).

¡La próxima ves que te encuentres añorando por algo mejor de lo que esta vida te ofrece, recuerda que eso es solo evidencia de que fuiste creado para algo más!

Yo confieso mi pecado, y creo que tú eres Dios, mi Salvador. Te recibo en mi vida como mi Señor. Hoy, estoy entregando cada parte de mi vida a ti. Yo quiero seguirte y hacer lo que me pides que haga.

Jesús, estoy agradecido por tu amor y por tu sacrificio que ha hecho posible que yo me reúna contigo en el Cielo. Yo sé que no lo merezco. Y te agradezco que no tengo que ganarlo o trabajar por mi salvación, porque sé que eso es imposible. Quiero usar el resto de mi vida para servirte en lugar de servirme a mí mismo. Yo humildemente comprometo mi vida a ti, y te pido que me salves y me aceptes en tu familia. En el nombre de Jesús he orado. Amén”.

Failure Can Lead to Your Greatest Success

“When you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen and build up the faith of your brothers.”

Luke 22:32 (TLB)

When you’re in the middle of a failure, it can seem like nothing good will ever come from it. But God can always bring good from your failures. In fact, your worst failure can become your greatest success. If you let him, God will use your failures to build his church!

Jesus told Peter in Luke 22:32, “When you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen and build up the faith of your brothers” (TLB). Before Peter had even failed, Jesus gave him a vision of how God could use his failure for good.

After Peter’s failure (when he denied Jesus three times), Jesus died and then was resurrected. And when he and Peter met again on a seashore, Jesus reminded Peter of how good could come from his failure. Here’s how the conversation went:

“Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ he said, ‘you know that I love you.’ Jesus said, ‘Feed my lambs.’ Again Jesus said, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ He answered, ‘Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.’ Jesus said, ‘Take care of my sheep.’ The third time he said to him, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’ Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, ‘Do you love me?’ He said, ‘Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said, ‘Feed my sheep’” (John 21:15-17 NIV).

Three times Jesus asked Peter, “Do you love me?” Why did he ask that three times? He was giving Peter the opportunity to make up for the three times he had denied Jesus.

And each time, Jesus gave Peter another way he could use his failure for good: “Feed my lambs.” “Take care of my sheep.” “Feed my sheep.”

On the same night that Peter had denied Jesus, another disciple, Judas, also failed Jesus. But, ultimately, Judas chose to become a traitor to Jesus, while Peter chose to become a teacher and a leader of Jesus’ church.

In Matthew 16:18 Jesus says, “Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it” (NLT).

God is building his church on people who’ve failed. In fact, God only uses failed people—because there aren’t any perfect people!

What are you going to become from your failure? It’s your choice.

Talk It Over

What is one way you want to see God use your failure for good? Do you believe that he can do even more than you could ask or imagine?
Think of a fellow Christian you admire. How have you seen God turn a great failure into great ministry in their life?
What big failure have you experienced? Are you ready to surrender it to God today so you can see how he can bring good from it?

There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. If you’re ready to accept that promise, to stop fearing God’s judgment, and to commit your life to Jesus, then pray this prayer:

“Dear God, you have promised that if I believe in Jesus, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven. You have promised that “there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1 NLT). Instead of judging me, you will accept me and bring me to heaven one day.

“I confess I have sinned against you, and I ask that you forgive me. Jesus, I want to submit my life to you. I want you to become Lord of my life. Thank you that I don’t have to earn salvation. It is a gift of grace because of your sacrifice on the cross.

“Today I’m turning over every part of my life to you. I want to use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I commit my life to you, and I ask you to accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Cuida tu Familia Espiritual

“No reprendas con dureza al anciano, sino aconséjalo como si fuera tu padre. Trata a los jóvenes como a hermanos; a las ancianas, como a madres; a las jóvenes, como a hermanas, con toda pureza”. 1 Timoteo 5:1-2 (NVI)

Si sigues a Jesús, no solo tienes que preocuparte por tu propia familia, sino que también debes preocuparte por la familia de Dios, tu familia espiritual.

¿Quién es tu familia espiritual? Son tus hermanos y hermanas en la familia de Dios.

Jesús dijo: “Pues mi hermano, mi hermana y mi madre son los que hacen la voluntad de mi Padre que está en el cielo” Mateo 12:50 (NVI). Eso significa que, si sigues a Jesús, ¡tú y yo somos parientes! La gracia de Dios a través de Jesucristo nos une como familia. Seguro escuchaste la antigua frase: “La sangre es más espesa que el agua”. ¡Es verdad! Pero la gracia es más espesa que la genética.

Una carta a algunos de los primeros cristianos dice: “No reprendas con dureza al anciano [en la iglesia], sino aconséjalo como si fuera tu padre. Trata a los jóvenes como a hermanos; a las ancianas, como a madres; a las jóvenes, como a hermanas, con toda pureza” 1 Timoteo 5:1-2 (NVI). Dios quiere que veas a otras personas en el cuerpo de Cristo como tus padres, madres, hermanos y hermanas espirituales.

La Biblia nos dice que Jesús tenía una familia biológica y creció con hermanos y hermanas. De hecho, tenía cuatro hermanastros y al menos dos hermanastras: eran los otros hijos de María y José. Aparecen muchas veces en las Escrituras, viendo a Jesús hacer milagros y tratando de disuadirlo de hacer ciertas cosas. Uno de los hermanastros de Jesús, Santiago, fue quien escribió el libro de Santiago en la Biblia.

Pero, mientras Jesús agonizaba, no confió el cuidado de su madre a ninguno de sus hermanastros o hermanastras. Se la confió a Juan, su amado discípulo. ¿Por qué es esto? Juan 7:5 dice que todavía ninguno de los hermanos de Jesús se había convertido en creyente. Estaban entre las muchas personas que no reconocieron a Jesús como el Hijo de Dios sino hasta después de la Resurrección. No fue hasta más tarde en la vida que Santiago se convirtió en uno de los líderes de la iglesia en Jerusalén.

Jesús confió su madre al cuidado de Juan porque Juan ya era un creyente maduro. Juan era su familia espiritual, con lazos más estrechos a través de los lazos de gracia que incluso la relación de sangre con su familia biológica.

Dios ha diseñado la familia de fe para que sea lo misma para ti. Puedes tener vínculos más estrechos con tus hermanos cristianos de los que podrías tener con tu propia familia. Y esos lazos estrechos deberían llevarte a cuidar particularmente bien de tu familia espiritual.

Gálatas 6:10 dice, “Por lo tanto, siempre que tengamos la oportunidad, hagamos el bien a todos, en especial a los de la familia de la fe” (NTV).

Haz siempre todo lo que puedas para ayudar a las personas necesitadas. Pero presta especial atención a aquellos dentro de tu propia familia espiritual.

Three Ways Jesus Responds to Your Failure

“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)

Failure can be isolating. When you’re in the middle of a failure, you often feel ashamed and just want to be alone. But Jesus is with you always, even in your greatest failure.

To help you through your failures, Jesus does three incredible things:

Jesus prays for you. Even before Peter had failed, Jesus told him, “I have prayed for you, that your faith will not fail” (Luke 22:32 NASB).

Even at this very moment, Jesus is interceding—praying—for you. The Bible says, “He is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf” (Hebrews 7:25 NLT).

Jesus believes in you. In fact, he expects you to heal and recover. That’s why he told Peter before his big failure, “When you have repented and turned to me again . . .” (Luke 22:32 TLB). Jesus knew Peter would sin and fail and eventually come back to him.

The truth is that we all fail, and we fail repeatedly. Your biggest weaknesses are habitual. You don’t just do them one time and that’s it. You do them over and over. But God isn’t there just for the big, one-time mess-up. He’s there for the mistakes you make over and over again. Though you fail repeatedly, God will always believe in you.

Jesus shows you mercy. Jesus is more willing to show mercy than you’re willing to ask for it. When you’re down, Jesus doesn’t beat you up or add to your guilt. Instead, he saves you.

In John 21, just weeks after Peter had denied Jesus, Peter and some other disciples went fishing. Though they fished all night, they caught nothing. At dawn, Jesus called to them from the shore and told them where to throw their nets. “So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it” (John 21:6 NLT).

When Peter followed Jesus’ instructions, he caught more fish than he could possibly handle. Jesus is ready to do the same for you. He can do more in five minutes of your life than you can do in 50 years of planning.

Here’s more good news: God’s mercy toward you is not dependent on your performance. The Bible says in Lamentations 3:22-23, “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (ESV).

Friend, you may give up on God, but he’s never going to give up on you. Jesus is praying for you, believes in you, and will always show you mercy. No matter what you do, God is faithful.

Talk It Over

How does knowing Jesus is praying for you make a difference in your life?
What mistake do you make over and over again? How does God help you to “rise again” each time you fail?
When has Jesus shown you mercy in your failure?

No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’ve got a place in God’s forever family ready and waiting for you. The invitation is wide open. Just believe and receive.

Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can start with: “Dear God, I know when I die, I’m going to give an account of my life to you. I know that I have sinned against you and that I’ve messed up and let you down. Please forgive me. I want to turn away from my sins and toward you.

“Thank you for sending Jesus to die for all that I’ve done wrong so that I don’t have to pay the penalty. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I know only your grace can save me, Lord. I could never be good enough to get into a perfect place.

“Jesus, thank you for loving me so much that you took all my guilt on yourself. You made me acceptable for heaven, and I humbly ask you to save me. I believe in you, Jesus. And I believe you will keep your promise to save me instantly and eternally. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Confirma tu Salvación Hoy

“Te aseguro que hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso”. Lucas 23:43 (NTV)

Cuando el criminal colgado en la cruz junto a Jesús le pidió que lo recordara, Él respondió: “Te aseguro que hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso” Lucas 23:43 (NTV). Con su respuesta, Jesús dio cuatro características de la salvación en las que puedes confiar y creer.

Primero, dijo “hoy”. Cuando mueres, vas directamente a la presencia de Dios o vas directamente a la separación de Dios. Y la salvación también es inmediata. En el momento en que le pides a Jesucristo que te salve, será hecho.

En segundo lugar, la salvación es segura. Él dijo: “Hoy estarás”. No dijo: “Podrías” o “Espero”. Su respuesta no fue: “Déjame pensarlo”.

Jesús dijo: “Estarás”. Cuando aceptas a Cristo, puedes estar seguro de tu salvación.

En tercer lugar, la salvación es una relación. Jesús dijo: “estarás conmigo”.

La salvación no es una religión. No son reglas, regulaciones o rituales. Es una relación. Esa relación no comienza cuando llegas al Cielo. Comienza aquí en la Tierra. Jesucristo quiere ser tu mejor amigo; quiere hablar contigo todo el tiempo. ¡Dios te hizo para tener una relación con Él!

Cuarto, Jesús dijo: “Hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso”. El Cielo es un lugar real y es para siempre.

Dos criminales fueron crucificados con Jesús, uno a cada lado. Jesús les dio la opción de la salvación y te da la misma opción a ti. No te obligará a amarlo. No te obligará a confiar en Él ni a aceptar el Cielo.

Uno de los dos criminales rechazó a Jesús. El otro creyó en Él con fe. Tienes la misma elección.

Romanos 10:13 dice: “Todo el que invoque el nombre del Señor, será salvo” (NVI). ¿Crees estas verdades sobre la salvación? ¿Estás listo para invocar el nombre del Señor? La Biblia dice: “el «momento preciso» es ahora. Hoy es el día de salvación” 2 Corintios 6:2 (NTV).

Elige resolver el problema de tu destino eterno hoy. Confía en la promesa de salvación de Jesús. Puedes comenzar haciendo esta oración:

“Querido Jesús, me has prometido que, si creo en ti, todo lo que hice mal será perdonado, aprenderé el propósito de mi vida y un día me aceptarás en tu hogar eterno en el Cielo. Gracias porque puedo estar seguro de que cumplirás tu promesa, puedo estar seguro de mi salvación.

Confieso mi pecado y creo que eres Dios, mi Salvador. Te recibo en mi vida como mi Señor. Hoy, te entrego cada parte de mi vida. Quiero seguirte y hacer lo que me digas que haga.

Jesús, estoy agradecido por tu amor y sacrificio que me permite unirme a ti en el Cielo. Gracias porque no tengo que ganar ni trabajar para mi salvación, porque sé que es imposible. Quiero usar el resto de mi vida para servirte en lugar de servirme a mí mismo. Humildemente te entrego mi vida y te pido que me salves y me aceptes en tu familia. En el nombre de Jesús oro. Amén”.

Cast Yourself on God’s Mercy

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

One of the most important things you can do when you experience failure is to cast yourself on God’s mercy. We know Jesus’ disciple Peter did this—because he wrote two books in the Bible about it.

Peter had a massive failure in his life: denying Jesus three times in the course of one evening. But he didn’t drift into despair. He didn’t waste time suffering in condemnation. He didn’t shower himself in guilt or shame. And he didn’t go on living with regret. Instead, Peter cast all his anxiety on God, and his life was filled with hope because of God’s mercy.

In 1 Peter 5:7, Peter says, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (NIV). In this verse, the Greek word translated as “cast” means to “let it go.”

Imagine you’re carrying a giant boulder. It’s so big that you can’t even toss it a few feet; all you can do is drop it. That’s what this verse is saying. You simply take all your fear, insecurity, guilt, and whatever else you’re struggling with and drop it on God. You cast yourself on his mercy.

But how exactly do you do that? You can pray something like this: “God, I really blew it. I don’t deserve your mercy. I’ve ignored you and made mistakes. But you are kind and loving. You are merciful and forgiving, so I’m throwing myself on your mercy. I need a fresh start. I know I don’t deserve it and I couldn’t earn it. I’m just asking you to do what you love to do and show me mercy.”

This is the antidote to everything that Satan says to you. Satan loves to whisper lies in your ear like, “You’re not good enough. Who do you think you are? Why do you think God could ever use you? Why do you think God would answer your prayers after all the stuff you’ve done?” Satan doesn’t want you focused on God’s mercy.

Before Jesus was even arrested, he told Peter four things in advance of Peter’s failure:

Satan wants to test you.You’re going to be tempted.I’ve already prayed for you.Use your pain to help other people.

These things are true for you too. You’ll be tempted, and sometimes you’ll fail, but Jesus will always be there for you. And your pain won’t be wasted.

When you cast your cares, you lose your despair. Peter got this right! He grieved his failure, found comfort with his friends, and cast himself on God’s mercy. This is the same formula you need to find hope after failure.

Talk It Over

Have you ever had a burden so heavy that all you could do was drop it on God? How did your life change when you let that burden go?
What lies is Satan telling you today to keep you from focusing on God’s mercy?
With what should you counter Satan’s lies? How can you remind yourself of truth?

If you've never opened your life to Jesus Christ, today is the day to cast your anxieties on him. You don't need to know what's going to happen tomorrow. You don't need to know what the future holds. You just need to know who holds the future!

If you’re ready, pray this simple prayer: “Dear God, I want my security to be in something that cannot be taken from me. I want my security to be in my relationship with you, as I trust in your promise to never leave me. I submit my life to Jesus Christ. I confess that I have lived life my own way and sinned against you. Please forgive me, come into my life, and change my priorities and my direction. I believe you care for me and love me so much that you sent Jesus to die on the cross to pay for my sin. And I believe that he rose again so that I can have the promise of your presence forever. So I cast my anxieties and worries on you. Transform me into the person you created me to be. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

¿Cómo Sé Que Soy Salvo?

“Porque por gracia son salvos por medio de la fe; y esto no de ustedes pues es don de Dios. No es por obras, para que nadie se gloríe”. Efesios 2: 8-9 (RVA-2015)

En Lucas 23:42, uno de los criminales que estaban colgados junto a Jesús le dijo: “Jesús, acuérdate de mí cuando vengas en tu reino” (NVI).

En ese momento, Jesús era famoso por hacer milagros. Pero observa que el hombre no le pidió a Jesús que detuviera su dolor, aunque habría tenido un dolor insoportable. Tampoco le pidió a Jesús que lo salvara de la muerte.

Él dijo: “Jesús, acuérdate de mí”. ¿Por qué? Porque sabía que su necesidad más profunda era la salvación del pecado y un hogar en el Cielo. Y creía que Jesús podía proporcionarlo.

La Biblia dice en Hechos 16:31, “Cree en el Señor Jesús y serás salvo” (NTV).

Entonces, ¿cómo sabes con certeza que eres salvo del pecado? ¿Cómo sabes que vas al Cielo cuando mueras? ¿Cómo puedes estar seguro? ¿Cómo puedes eliminar tu duda? Tu seguridad de salvación no proviene de lo que haces, porque no puedes ganarte la salvación. No es por tus sentimientos, porque los sentimientos van y vienen.

Entonces, ¿qué puede asegurar tu salvación? La promesa de la Palabra de Dios. Si Dios lo dice, eso lo confirma, porque Dios no puede mentir. Puedes confiar en la promesa de la Palabra de Dios. Puedes descansar en Él.

Jesús respondió al criminal que colgaba de la cruz: “Te aseguro que hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso” Lucas 23:43 (NTV). Tu seguridad de salvación es la misma: Dios promete que un día estarás en el Cielo con Él si crees con fe.

You Need Your Small Group When You Fail

“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

Matthew 18:20 (NKJV)

When Jesus started his ministry, the very first thing he did was to form a small group. He knew that hard times would come, and it was important for him and the people around him not to be alone.

Just after Jesus was arrested, Peter—one of the members of that small group of disciples—experienced a major failure: He denied three times that he knew Jesus. Peter immediately started grieving that failure, and then Jesus’ death added even more grief (Mark 16:10).

Where did Peter go after his failure and in his grief? To his small group. The Bible says that, a few days after Jesus’ death, the disciples were still together grieving (Mark 16:10).

It would have been easy for Peter to isolate himself, to pretend that he hadn’t failed and that he wasn’t grieving. But he knew he wasn’t meant to go through life on his own. He knew we all are better together; we’re meant for community. So he grieved with the rest of the disciples.

When you go through a major failure, follow Peter’s example and resist the urge to isolate yourself. When you fail, you might want to keep it secret. But that’s the worst thing you can do! You don’t need to tell everybody, but you do need to tell a few people who love you and will pray for you and support you.

God promises in Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them” (NKJV).

I’ve been part of a small group at Saddleback for many years. Jesus has shown up in that group hundreds of times through our words, emotions, and prayers. Over and over again, God has spoken to me through other small group members.

Do you have a small group or other support network of fellow believers? If not, the best time to build that support is now, before the crisis that will inevitably come.

Life on earth will always include rough winds and pain—you can count on it. It was true for Peter, and it’s also true for you. Fortunately, Peter had a small group he’d been in for three years. When he had his biggest failure, he could go to them and say, “Did I mess up?” And they could tell him, “Yeah, you did, but we did too.”

Peter let his small group support him. They encouraged each other and walked through the failure together.

That’s what you need when hard times come.
