El Amor de Dios Cambia Todo — Mensaje Especial de Semana Santa

“Con amor eterno te he amado”. Jeremías 31:3 (NVI)

Nada de lo que hayas hecho jamás o de lo que harás puede hacer que Dios deje de amarte. Dios dice en Jeremías 31:3, “Con amor eterno te he amado” (NVI).

¿Sabes cuánto dura lo eterno?

Es para siempre. No puedes hacer que Dios deje de amarte; Él te amará para siempre. Su amor no está basado en lo que tú haces. Está basado en quién es Él. La única razón por la que estás vivo es porque Dios te hizo para amarte.

Es por eso que Dios envió a su Hijo: “Porque tanto amó Dios al mundo que dio a su Hijo unigénito, para que todo el que cree en él no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna” Juan 3:16 (NVI).

Dios quiere que conozcas su amor. Pero aún mejor, Él quiere que tú sientas su amor.

El amor de Dios te transformará cuando lo sientas. Su amor transforma personas que están llenas de odio, obstinadas, o racistas; en personas amables, gentiles y que saben amar. Cuando el amor de Dios toca tu corazón, te cambia.

Si tu vida no ha cambiado, entonces aún no conoces a Dios. No puedes tener a alguien tan grande y poderoso como Dios en tu vida y no ser transformado por eso.

Cuando el amor de Dios llega a tu vida, cambia la forma como reaccionas con todos los demás. Cuando tú realmente entiendes y experimentas el amor de Dios, no puedes evitar pasar ese amor a otros.

De hecho, Jesús lo describió de esta forma: “Este mandamiento nuevo les doy: que se amen los unos a los otros. Así como yo los he amado, también ustedes deben amarse los unos a los otros. De este modo todos sabrán que son mis discípulos, si se aman los unos a los otros” Juan 13:34-35 (NVI).

Pero todo comienza con el amor de Dios por nosotros.

La conversación más asombrosa en la Biblia es la de un hombre llamado Saulo, quien era un extremista religioso que mataba a los cristianos. Un día, de camino a Damasco, él encontró al Jesús resucitado.

Jesús le dijo a Saulo, “¿Por qué me persigues?”

Saulo cayó de rodillas y dijo, “Mi Señor y mi Dios”.

El hombre que una vez fue un extremista religioso se convirtió en el apóstol del amor. Saulo, ahora conocido como Pablo, escribió gran parte del Nuevo Testamento, incluyendo algunas de las palabras más hermosas que jamás se han escrito sobre el amor, 1 Corintios 13.

El amor eterno de Dios hace eso, cambia vidas. ¿Ha cambiado la tuya?

Why the Forgiven Don’t Have to Fear

“Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now!”

1 Peter 1:3-4 (The Message)

Fear is nothing new. It’s been with us from the very beginning!

In the Garden of Eden, Adam hid from God and said, “I was afraid.” Humans have been living in fear of God and each other ever since.

Fear is based on ignorance. That means truth is the only cure—and truth can only be found in God’s Word.

Jesus’ resurrection on the first Easter gives you five truths for overcoming fear in your life. Yesterday, I shared the first two:

You know Jesus tells you the truth.You know death isn’t the end.

Third, you know God loves you extravagantly. God didn’t just send you a postcard with a note saying how much he loves you. He cared enough to send the very best—himself! When Jesus was dying on the cross with his arms outstretched, he was saying: “I love you this much.”

Fear and love cannot exist in the same place. The Bible tells us, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear” (1 John 4:18 NIV). When you invite Christ into the front door of your heart, fear goes out the back door.

Fourth, you know God has a good plan for your life. When you open yourself up to God’s love, he takes care of your past, present, and future. Because of the resurrection, your sins are forgiven, you get a purpose for living, and you get a home in heaven.

The Bible describes it like this: “Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now!” (1 Peter 1:3-4 The Message) You won’t get that kind of life anywhere else. You only get it through the power of Jesus’ resurrection.

Finally, you know God will take care of your needs. One of the reasons you struggle with fear is that you worry about tomorrow—and worry can’t change anything! It won’t add a single moment to your life, and it won’t solve a single problem.

But the resurrection guarantees that God will meet all of your needs—starting with your salvation—by providing you with the power of his resurrection. Paul writes, “I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 1:19-20 NLT).

 This year, as you celebrate Easter, remind yourself that because Jesus was raised from the dead, you are no longer a prisoner to fear. That’s news so good that you will want to share it!

You can pray this simple prayer right now: “Dear God, I'm tired of pretending and people pleasing. I’m tired of the stress of trying to be perfect when I can't be. I'm tired of holding on to hurt and memories that continue to cause pain in my life. I’m tired of being afraid of rejection and afraid of being fully known. I want to let it all go.

“Lord, I surrender everything that has brought me shame, regret, resentment, and worry. I don't want to live that way anymore! I want to live a life of freedom, and I know that can only be found through your Son, Jesus Christ.

“Today, I confess my sin to you and ask you to forgive me. Thank you, Jesus, that you made a way for me to be forgiven and accepted because of what you did on the cross and your resurrection. I submit to you as Lord of my life and want to follow you for the rest of my life. Please fill me with your love and hope and help me to walk in faith, not fear. I ask this in your name. Amen.”

Sirve a Jesús Sirviendo a los Demás

“Y le contestarán los justos: “Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento y te alimentamos, o sediento y te dimos de beber?  ¿Cuándo te vimos como forastero y te dimos alojamiento, o necesitado de ropa y te vestimos?  ¿Cuándo te vimos enfermo o en la cárcel y te visitamos?” El Rey les responderá: ‘Les aseguro que todo lo que hicieron por uno de mis hermanos, aun por el más pequeño, lo hicieron por mí’ ”. Mateo 25:37-40 (NVI)

Justo antes de que Jesús muriera en la cruz, dijo: “Tengo sed” Juan 19:28 (NVI). Ese momento muestra su humanidad, significa, que Jesús era Dios viviendo entre nosotros como hombre.

La Biblia dice que los soldados romanos empaparon una esponja con vinagre y se la llevaron a los labios de Jesús. El vinagre estaba destinado a aliviar su sed.

¿No te hubiera gustado haber estado allí para poder darle agua a Jesús para calmar su sed? De hecho, probablemente habrías considerado un privilegio y una bendición servirle en ese momento.

Pero ese momento ya pasó hace mucho y no puedes ayudar a Jesús de esa manera. Lo que puedes hacer es ayudar en el nombre de Jesús, a quienes te rodean. En todo lugar hay personas que tienen sed espiritual y buscan un propósito y significado. Quieren saber qué hacer con sus vidas y si sus vidas tienen algún sentido.

Las personas necesitan saber que Jesús puede saciar su sed, que Él es lo que buscan cuando saltan de una cosa a otra. Necesitan saber que Él se encuentra con ellos en su depresión, desánimo y desesperación.

Jesús dice, que cuando sirves a otros, le estás sirviendo a Él. Entonces, cuando quieras hacer algo por Jesús, busca personas a tu alrededor que estén necesitadas. Jesús dijo: “Les aseguro que todo lo que hicieron por uno de mis hermanos, aun por el más pequeño, lo hicieron por mí” Mateo 25:40 (NVI).

Siempre que le das de beber a alguien que tiene sed, se lo estás dando a Jesús. Lo mismo sucede cuando diriges hacia Jesús a los que tienen sed espiritual.

El amor en acción es cuando satisfaces las necesidades de otras personas en su sed —física, emocional o espiritual— por amor a Cristo, Él soportó la sed por ti en la cruz.

La única forma en que puedes servir a Dios es sirviendo a las personas y ayudando a otros en su nombre.

Entre las personas que te rodean ¿quiénes parecen tener sed espiritual? Pídale a Dios que te muestre quiénes son y la mejor manera de dirigirlos hacia Jesús.

Resurrection Truths That Shatter Fear

“[Jesus] included everyone in his death so that everyone could also be included in his life, a resurrection life, a far better life than people ever lived on their own.”

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 (The Message)

The Bible is full of commands. But do you know which one is the most common?

Don’t be afraid.

You’ll find it 365 times in Scripture—including several times in the Easter story. “Don’t be afraid” were the first words the angel told those who showed up at the tomb on Easter morning. They were also the first words Jesus spoke after the resurrection.

It’s no wonder why it’s a common theme in the Bible and the Easter story: Fear is humanity’s most common problem.

You might not think you’re a fearful person. But you rarely realize how many of your decisions are based on fear, such as the fear of what people think of you and the fear of failure.

But Easter brings good news! Because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, you can now live without fear. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:14-15, “[Jesus] included everyone in his death so that everyone could also be included in his life, a resurrection life, a far better life than people ever lived on their own” (The Message).

When you live according to the resurrection of Christ, the Bible says you’re living a better life, a life free from fear.

In fact, there are five truths about the resurrection that will set you free from fear if you understand them. I’ll share these truths over the next two days.

First, you know Jesus tells you the truth. Throughout history many people have claimed to be God or the Messiah—but only one proved it. The Bible says, “[Jesus] was declared to be God’s Son with great power by rising from the dead” (Romans 1:4 NCV).

Without the resurrection, you couldn’t trust anything Jesus said. But you can trust what Jesus says about God, heaven, and everything else he taught because he rose from the dead like he said he would.

When you understand Jesus tells the truth and that you can trust what he says, it becomes easier to let go of your fears.

Second, you know death isn’t the end. Until Jesus rose from the dead, you didn’t know if there was life after death, because there was no proof. Jesus changed that. The Bible tells us, “God raised the Lord Jesus from the dead, and we know that God will also raise us with Jesus” (2 Corinthians 4:14 NCV).

You don’t need to fear death, because Jesus’ resurrection shows us that death isn’t the end of the story. It’s really the beginning of your eternal life in God’s presence.

Learning to live without fear will transform your life now! Tomorrow I’ll share three more Easter truths that will help you live free from fear.

¿Necesitas Un Nuevo Comienzo?

“Que toda la alabanza sea para Dios, el Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Es por su gran misericordia que hemos nacido de nuevo, porque Dios levantó a Jesucristo de los muertos. Ahora vivimos con gran expectación y tenemos una herencia que no tiene precio, una herencia que está reservada en el cielo para ustedes, pura y sin mancha, que no puede cambiar ni deteriorarse”. 1 Pedro 1: 3-4 (NTV)

Si buscas en Google la frase “nuevo comienzo”, obtendrás más de 2 mil millones de resultados.

Evidentemente, a mucha gente le gustaría tener un nuevo comienzo en la vida. Piensan: “Lo arruiné. Realmente he hecho un desastre en mi vida. Me gustaría empezar de nuevo”.

Quizás eres una de esas personas. Puedes sentirte desesperado o desamparado. Puedes pensar que eres indigno. Puedes pensar que eres demasiado mayor o joven. Puedes pensar que has hecho demasiadas cosas malas.

Puedes pensar que no necesitas a Dios, lo necesitas. O tal vez piensas que Dios no te quiere, te quiere. Puedes pensar que has cometido un pecado imperdonable, pero no es así. No importa lo que haya sucedido en tu vida, Dios quiere una relación contigo.

Jesús está en la misión de dar a las personas un nuevo comienzo. El apóstol Pedro dijo: “Que toda la alabanza sea para Dios, el Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Es por su gran misericordia que hemos nacido de nuevo, porque Dios levantó a Jesucristo de los muertos. Ahora vivimos con gran expectación y tenemos una herencia que no tiene precio, una herencia que está reservada en el cielo para ustedes, pura y sin mancha, que no puede cambiar ni deteriorarse” 1 Pedro 1: 3-4 (NTV).

El apóstol Pablo lo dijo de otra manera: “Dios los ha unido a ustedes con Cristo Jesús. Dios hizo que él fuera la sabiduría misma para nuestro beneficio. Cristo nos hizo justos ante Dios; nos hizo puros y santos y nos liberó del pecado” 1 Corintios 1:30 (NTV).

Cuando entregas tu vida a Cristo, suceden varias cosas:

Abres tu vida a Dios y llegas a conocerlo.Se te da una nueva vida, que te da todo por lo cual vivir.Obtienes un futuro en el Cielo.

Me gusta decirlo de esta manera: obtienes tu pasado perdonado, un propósito para vivir y un hogar en el Cielo. ¡Qué buena oferta! Tu pasado, presente y futuro están cubiertos al poner tu confianza en Jesús.

Confieso mi pecado y te pido perdón. Creo que eres Dios, mi Salvador. Te recibo en mi vida como mi Señor. Hoy, te entrego cada parte de mi vida. Quiero seguirte y hacer lo que me digas que haga.

Jesús, estoy agradecido por tu amor y tu sacrificio que me permite unirme a ti en el Cielo. Sé que no me lo merezco. Y te agradezco que no tengo que ganarme ni trabajar para mi salvación, porque sé que eso es imposible. Quiero usar el resto de mi vida para servirte en lugar de servirme a mí mismo. Humildemente te entrego mi vida y te pido que me salves y me aceptes en tu familia. En el nombre de Jesús oro. Amén”.

Five Steps to Wise Decision Making

“There is a right time and a right way to do everything, but we know so little! None of us knows what is going to happen, and there is no one to tell us.”

Ecclesiastes 8:6-7 (GNT)

For the rest of your life, you’ll try to determine the right timing for many decisions you have to make. It may be deciding about an educational change, a career change, or a change in a relationship.

The Bible tells us, “There is a right time and a right way to do everything, but we know so little! None of us knows what is going to happen, and there is no one to tell us” (Ecclesiastes 8:6-7 GNT).

Because timing is an important part of any decision, keep these five steps in mind as you decide:

Take time to make the right decision.
“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25 NIV).

Hurry is the enemy of good decisions! Let God set the timing for your decisions. His timing will always be best, so you can surrender yours to him.

Be quiet and listen to God’s Word.
“I pondered the direction of my life, and I turned to follow your laws” (Psalm 119:59 NLT).

You can’t hear the whisper of God’s voice if your life is filled with other noise. That’s why it’s so critical you spend time alone with God. God’s will is found in God’s Word.

Enlist the prayers of others.
“Brothers and sisters, I beg you to help me in my work by praying to God for me. Do this because of our Lord Jesus and the love that the Holy Spirit gives us” (Romans 15:30 NCV).

When you ask other people to pray with you about a decision, they can offer encouragement and support. They can ask God to give you focus and clarity.

Consider what you do best.
“Each one, as a good manager of God’s different gifts, must use for the good of others the special gift he has received from God” (1 Peter 4:10 GNT).

God gave you gifts so you could use them to help others. Make sure your decision helps you spend more time sharing your gifts and talents with others.

Seek the counsel of wise friends.
“Where there is no counsel, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety” (Proverbs 11:14 KJV).

You want more than your own perspective when you’re trying to determine the right time for a decision. Get the help of godly friends, or a mentor or pastor. Find the wisest people you know, and listen to their advice.

As you consider your decision, remember: God is the creator of time, and he controls all of it. That means his timing is never too late and never too early.

You can trust him to be right on time—in his time!

Jesús dice: “Ven Tal Como Estás”

“Desde el cielo me tiende la mano y me salva; reprende a mis perseguidores.  ¡Dios me envía su amor y su verdad!”. Salmo 57:3 (NVI)

Todo lo que Jesús hizo por ti, lo hizo por amor. La Biblia dice que Dios te hizo para amarte. La única razón por la que estás vivo es porque fuiste creado para ser amado por Dios.

Dios no solo dijo que te amaba; lo mostró. La Biblia dice: “Dios demuestra su amor por nosotros en esto: en que cuando todavía éramos pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros” Romanos 5:8 (NVI). Dice cuando todavía éramos pecadores. Antes de que supieras que necesitabas a Dios en tu vida, Jesús murió por ti.

Existe un mito que dice que tienes que limpiar tu pecado antes de poder acercarte a Dios. La gente dice: “Hay algunas cosas que tengo que hacer bien en mi vida primero, y luego vendré a Dios”. ¡No! Puedes acudir a Dios con tus problemas: los buenos, los malos y los feos.

¡Es como cepillarse los dientes antes de ir al dentista para que te limpien los dientes! ¿Por qué hacemos cosas así?

Dios dice: “No tienes que limpiar tu pecado. Solo tráemelo todo. Tráeme todos tus problemas y todo tu lío. Tengo todas las respuestas. Ven tal como estás”.

La Pascua muestra la profundidad del amor de Dios por ti. La Biblia dice: “Desde el cielo me tiende la mano y me salva, ¡Dios me envía su amor y su verdad!” Salmo 57:3 (NVI). Eso es lo que hizo Jesús en Pascua. Se envió a sí mismo desde el Cielo para salvarte por amor. De modo que puedes llevarle tus problemas a Dios, porque Él te ama y tiene las respuestas.

Si no actúas de acuerdo con esta Buena Nueva, entonces la muerte de Jesucristo y su Resurrección son en vano para ti personalmente; no harán ninguna diferencia en tu vida. No es suficiente reconocer el don de Dios; tienes que recibirlo.

“Si confiesas con tu boca que Jesús es el Señor y crees en tu corazón que Dios lo levantó de entre los muertos, serás salvo. Porque con el corazón se cree para ser justificado, pero con la boca se confiesa para ser salvo” Romanos 10:9-10 (NVI).

Dios no te está pidiendo que hagas una promesa que no puedas cumplir. Dios te está pidiendo que creas en una promesa que solo Él puede cumplir.

La Biblia promete: “Si confiesas con tu boca que Jesús es el Señor y crees en tu corazón que Dios lo levantó de entre los muertos, serás salvo. Porque con el corazón se cree para ser justificado, pero con la boca se confiesa para ser salvo” Romanos 10:9-10 (NVI).

No tienes que limpiar tu vida antes de venir a Dios en busca de salvación. Solo tienes que venir como estás, listo para arrepentirte de tus pecados y entregarle tu vida. Si estás listo para hacer eso, haz esta oración:

“Querido Jesús, me has prometido que, si creo en ti, seré salvo. Todo lo que hice mal será perdonado, aprenderé el propósito de mi vida y algún día me aceptarás en tu hogar eterno en el Cielo.

Confieso mi pecado y creo que eres mi Salvador. Confío en ti cuando dices que, si creo de todo corazón, me salvarás. Te recibo en mi vida como mi Señor. Hoy entrego cada parte de mi vida a tu dirección.

Quiero usar el resto de mi vida para servirte en lugar de servirme a mí mismo. Quiero contarles a otras personas sobre tu amor salvador. Te entrego mi vida y te pido que me salves y me aceptes en tu familia. En el nombre de Jesús oro. Amén”.

Mercy Triumphs over Judgment

“Neither do I condemn you,’ Jesus declared. ‘Go now and leave your life of sin.'”

John 8:11 (NIV)

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, God calls you to treat everyone with dignity. It doesn’t matter if they act, think, or worship differently than you. He still wants you to treat them with dignity. Why?

Because that’s what Jesus did.

Jesus accepted everyone. This doesn’t mean he approved of everything people did. He doesn’t approve of everything you do either, but he accepts you and treats you with dignity.

In John 8, Jesus treated a humiliated woman with dignity, but her accusers did not. Instead, they brought her before Jesus and said, “This woman was caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?” (John 8:4-5 NLT)

Jesus knew they were just trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, so he “stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger . . .  stood up again and said, ‘All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!’” (John 8:6-7 NLT)

Nobody knows what Jesus wrote in the dirt, because the Bible doesn’t tell us. Some scholars think he wrote down the sins of the woman’s accusers: judgmentalism, arrogance, dishonesty, or spousal abuse. After all, Jesus, being God, knew their secret sins and wanted to get to the heart of the matter.

What did her accusers end up doing? John 8:9 says, “They slipped away one by one . . . until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman” (NLT). They didn’t stick around to condemn her.

And Jesus didn’t condemn her either. Instead, he showed her mercy. John 8:11 says, “‘Neither do I condemn you,’ Jesus declared. ‘Go now and leave your life of sin’” (NIV).

Did this woman do something wrong? Yes. She cheated on her husband. But Jesus protected her dignity in a public situation and dealt with her sin gently. He simply said, “Don’t do this anymore.” He changed her.

That’s why I love Jesus—because he does the same thing with me. He treats me with dignity, even though I don’t deserve it. That’s what he does in your life too, when you accept his mercy. And, it’s how he wants you to treat others.

Jesús Escogió Sufrir Por Ti

“ Pero Dios mostró el gran amor que nos tiene al enviar a Cristo a morir por nosotros cuando todavía éramos pecadores ”. Romanos 5:8 (NTV)

Pocas personas están dispuestas a sufrir por alguien más. Pero Jesús lo estuvo. De hecho, Él no solo sufrió por una persona; ¡Él escogió sufrir por todas las personas del mundo!

En el libro de Juan se describe algunos de los sufrimientos de Jesús: “Jesús sabía que su misión ya había terminado y, para cumplir las Escrituras, dijo: «Tengo sed».  Había allí una vasija de vino agrio, así que mojaron una esponja en el vino, la pusieron en una rama de hisopo y la acercaron a los labios de Jesús” Juan 19:28-29 (NTV).

Jesús estaba en agonía en la cruz —y Él tenía sed. Él estaba sufriendo, no solo de dolor, pero también de una gran sed.

Jesús no merecía sufrir por el pecado de todos. Cada uno de nosotros merece sufrir por nuestros propios pecados. Pero Jesús estaba dispuesto a sufrir y a tener sed por ti para que tú pudieras ir al Cielo.

Jesús no hizo nada malo. Él no cometió ningún crimen. Él no hirió a nadie. Él vivió una vida perfecta. Entonces, ¿porqué ellos lo mataron?

Jesús murió por la redención de otros. Él tenía sed para tu beneficio.

“Pero Dios mostró el gran amor que nos tiene al enviar a Cristo a morir por nosotros cuando todavía éramos pecadores” Romanos 5:8 (NTV).

El amor de Jesús por ti es tan grandioso, profundo y ancho que Él estuvo dispuesto a tomar tu pecado como su propio pecado y cubrirlo con su justicia. Tu pecado le costó su vida. ¡Él te considera digno!

Es difícil entender ese tipo de amor, pero quizás esta historia te ayude:

En 1987, el vuelo 255 de la Aerolínea Northwest salió desde el Aeropuerto Metropolitano de Detroit. Veinticinco segundos más tarde se estrelló y murieron 156 personas. Sólo una persona sobrevivió—una niña de 4 años llamada Cecilia de Tempe, Arizona.

¿Cómo pudo lograrlo cuando todos los demás murieron? Los rescatistas unieron las piezas de lo que pudo haber acontecido. Evidentemente, cuando los pasajeros se dieron cuenta que se iban a estrellar, la madre de Cecilia se quitó el cinturón de seguridad, se volteó, y se colocó al frente de su hija. La rodeó con su cuerpo, cubriéndola con su amor, protegiendo a su pequeña niña. La madre dio su vida por ella.

¡Eso es lo que Jesús hizo por ti! Él sufrió para que tú no tuvieras que hacerlo. Él pasó por un infierno en la cruz para que tú no tuvieras que pasar la eternidad en el infierno. Él te cubrió y te protegió del castigo, las llamas y el dolor.

Jesús voluntariamente murió para que tú pudieras tener vida eterna. Él escogió morir para comprar tu redención. Tú nunca tendrás que preguntarte cuánto Dios te ama. ¡Él ya te lo mostró en la cruz!

Jesús es tu Redentor.

La Biblia dice que cada uno de nosotros peca y que el castigo del pecado es muerte. Pero Dios te amó tanto que envió a su Hijo, Jesús, a pagar la penalidad de tus pecados, para traerte a la familia de Dios y para salvarte del temor a la muerte.

Si estás listo para entrar a la familia de Dios, aquí está una oración con la que puedes comenzar:

“Querido Dios, yo sé que cuando muera voy a rendir cuentas de mi vida directamente a ti. Yo confieso que te he ignorado. Yo sé que he pecado en contra tuya, y he vivido de acuerdo con mi plan, y no el tuyo. Yo quiero cambiar, comenzando ahora mismo. Yo quiero alejarme de mis pecados y acercarme a ti.

Gracias por enviar a Jesús a morir por todo lo malo que he hecho para que yo no tenga que pagar el castigo. Yo sé que no merezco tu perdón. Yo sé que solo tu gracia me puede salvar, Señor.

Jesús, gracias por amarme tanto que tomaste toda mi culpa sobre ti y sufriste por mí. Me hiciste aceptable para el Cielo, y humildemente te pido que me salves. Te pido que me salves de mis pecados y el miedo a la muerte. Yo creo en ti, Jesús. Y creo que tú mantendrás tu promesa de salvarme instantánea, verdadera, completa, y eternamente. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén”.

What Difference Does Mercy Make?

“O Lord, you are so good and kind, so ready to forgive, so full of mercy for all who ask your aid.”

Psalm 86:5 (TLB)

This Easter season, we’ve been looking at God’s mercy and why you need it in your life. His mercy is something you can’t live without. And even though you don’t deserve it and can’t earn it, he always responds mercifully when you humbly pray, “God, I need your mercy in my life.”

The Bible says, “O Lord, you are so good and kind, so ready to forgive, so full of mercy for all who ask your aid” (Psalm 86:5 TLB).

But you might be wondering, “What difference will God’s mercy really make in my life?”

Here are three things that happen when you ask God for mercy:

God forgives you and frees you. God’s forgiveness takes care of your past guilt. And his freedom gives you the power to change in the future. Many people struggle because they can’t let go of the past. But Jesus says, “The Lord has sent me to announce freedom for prisoners, to give sight to the blind, to free everyone who suffers” (Luke 4:18 CEV).

Maybe you’re a prisoner to envy or resentment. Maybe you’re held captive by worry or addiction. I have good news: Jesus didn’t come to judge you. He came to show you mercy! In fact, he said, “I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world” (John 12:47 NIV). James 2:13 says, “Mercy triumphs over judgment” (NIV). Yes, there will be a judgment day. But Jesus came to offer you mercy before that day comes.

God makes the impossible possible. Anytime you use the word “impossible,” listen for laughter from heaven—because “impossible” is not in God’s book. God can do things you can’t do. He has power and resources you’ve never dreamed of having. Jesus says, “What is impossible with man is possible with God” (Luke 18:27 NIV).

Why doesn’t God just take away all your problems? Because God uses tough times to grow your character. If you never had any problems, your persistence, determination, diligence, and patience would never have a chance to grow. God’s work in your life during hard times makes having these character traits possible.

God saves you for eternity. You were made by God to last forever, and he wants you in his forever family. But there’s one condition: You need to ask for mercy. Acts 2:21 says, “Anyone who asks for mercy from the Lord shall have it and shall be saved” (TLB).

The reason we celebrate Easter is because Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live” (John 11:25 ESV). If Jesus had not risen from the dead, you would have no valid reason to believe that there is life after death in heaven. But because he raised himself, he can raise you.

When you accept the mercy of God, it truly makes all the difference in the world.

Talk It Over

In what area of your life have you experienced God’s freedom in the past? Where do you need to experience his freedom today?
How have you seen God grow your character during hard times?
When you consider eternity, what does Jesus’ resurrection mean to you?

Have you asked God for forgiveness and mercy?

God’s mercy makes a real and eternal difference in your life. But you have to accept it. If you’re ready to accept God’s mercy and join his forever family, then pray this:

“Dear God, I want to have a real, deep, and abiding faith in you. I confess that I have sinned and that I need your forgiveness and mercy. Thank you for loving me so much that you sent Jesus to die for my sins so that I can be forgiven.

“Jesus, you promised that anyone who believes in you will not perish but have everlasting life and eternity with you in heaven. I believe in you and accept you as my Lord and Savior. I want to follow you and spend the rest of my life serving you. Amen.”
