Como Satisfacer tu Sed Espiritual

“Cualquiera que beba de esta agua pronto volverá a tener sed, pero todos los que beban del agua que yo doy no tendrán sed jamás. Esa agua se convierte en un manantial que brota con frescura dentro de ellos y les da vida eterna”. Juan 4:13-14 (NTV)

 ¿Te sientes insatisfecho con tu vida? ¿Estás listo para vivir una vida plena y significativa? Es tiempo de comenzar a buscar la satisfacción solo en Jesús.

Si eres como la mayoría de las personas, siempre estás buscando alrededor, intentando encontrar algo que haga que tu vida sea feliz y con significado. Tú piensas: “Si tan solo pudiera usar este tipo de ropa, entonces sería popular. Si solo pudiera tener esa cirugía plástica y arreglarme esto, entonces la vida sería genial. Si solo pudiera obtener este trabajo, estaría satisfecho”.

La búsqueda de estas cosas te deja exhausto porque estas cosas nunca te podrán satisfacer realmente.

La Biblia dice, “Dos son los pecados que ha cometido mi pueblo: Me han abandonado a mí, fuente de agua viva, y han cavado sus propias cisternas, cisternas rotas que no retienen agua” Jeremías 2:13 (NVI).

No solo has rechazado a Dios, tampoco lo has buscado para satisfacer todas las necesidades en tu vida —en cambio estás intentando satisfacer tus necesidades por ti mismo. Las cisternas que has cavado —las puedes llamar, carrera, buen aspecto, o la casa perfecta— no van a retener agua.

En Juan 4:13-14 Jesús dice, “Cualquiera que beba de esta agua pronto volverá a tener sed, pero todos los que beban del agua que yo doy no tendrán sed jamás. Esa agua se convierte en un manantial que brota con frescura dentro de ellos y les da vida eterna” (NTV).

El pecado es adictivo. ¡Sólo te da más sed! Si no crees eso, pregúntale a cualquiera que vea pornografía —una vez no es suficiente. Si eres adicto a las prescripciones médicas, una pastilla nunca es suficiente. Si tienes un problema con el enojo, no vas a estallar solo una vez. El pecado crea una sed más grande por satisfacción.

Así es como es con cualquier búsqueda fuera de Jesús. ¡Solo te dejará más sediento de lo que estabas!

Pero Jesús ofrece agua viva para satisfacer permanentemente tu sed.

Si te sientes insatisfecho con tu vida, estás sediento espiritualmente. Y el único que puede saciar esa sed es Jesús.

Padre, Necesito tu paz. Necesito tu fuerza en mi vida. Por favor dame un nuevo sentido de esperanza y alegría mientras confío en ti. Gracias por enviar a Jesucristo para que yo pudiera tener una relación contigo.

Jesús, hoy abro mi vida a ti. Acepto que eres mi Señor y Salvador. Creo que tú vas a satisfacer mi sed espiritual. Quiero vivir en la forma en la que quieres que viva, la forma para la que fui hecho, cumpliendo el propósito para el que fui creado. Quiero seguirte por el resto de mi vida y pasar la eternidad contigo en el Cielo. Gracias, Jesús. Amén”.

You Don’t Have to Fear Death

“Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.’ And Jesus replied, ‘I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.'”

Luke 23:42-43 (NLT)

God’s mercy is something you’ll need your entire life, especially when you’ve messed up and when you don’t have what you need.

You need God’s mercy because of death.

Death is inevitable. We all are going to die at some point. The mortality rate in the world is still 100 percent!

Many people fear death, but God doesn’t want you to. In fact, he shows you how to not be afraid of dying.

Luke 23 tells of a dying man who received God’s mercy. You may remember the story: When Jesus went to the cross, he was hung between two criminals. The Bible says: “One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, ‘So you’re the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself—and us, too, while you’re at it!’ But the other criminal protested, ‘Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong’” (Luke 23:39-41 NLT).

One criminal made fun of Jesus and acted as if death is the end of life—but he was wrong. Death is the start of eternity, either in heaven or hell.

The other criminal said, in effect, “Don’t you realize the seriousness of your situation? You are about to go face-to-face with God in a matter of seconds, and here you are, putting down Jesus.” Then he turned to Jesus and said, “Remember me when you come into your Kingdom” (Luke 23:42 NLT).

How did Jesus respond? “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43 NLT).

Now that’s last-minute mercy! The thief realized his greatest need was forgiveness for sins, not relief from pain. And he knew he couldn’t save himself. So he simply said, “Remember me.” And Jesus said, in effect, “That’s good enough.” Jesus’ response showed that he even had power over death.

When you accept the mercy of Jesus, you don’t need to fear death—all because of what Jesus did on the cross.

Talk It Over

What does Jesus’ immediate response to the criminal—“today you will be with me in paradise”—say about his willingness to show you mercy?
Has someone ever made fun of Jesus in front of you? How did you respond?
Jesus took time to love and show mercy, even while dying on a cross. Take time right now to thank God for his deep love for you, and ask him for help recognizing opportunities to show mercy to others.

Easter’s Promise: No Condemnation for Those Who Belong to Christ

Because of what Jesus did on the cross, you have no need to fear death. Jesus has paid for your sins and prepared a beautiful eternity in heaven for you. But you can’t earn eternal life. You have to accept that gift by trusting in Jesus. The Bible says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).

If you’ve never received God’s mercy, why wait any longer? If you’re ready to step across that line and make a decision to follow Jesus, pray this prayer:

“Dear God, I need your mercy. I know that one day I’m going to die and face eternity. In my life here on earth, I’ve messed up. I have loved other things more than I have loved you. I’ve lived by my plan, not yours. I have sinned, and I ask for your forgiveness. I want to live by your plan, starting now.

“Jesus, thank you for being so merciful and for dying on the cross for me. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I could never be good enough to get into a perfect place like heaven. So, just like that thief on the cross, I say to you: “Remember me.” I ask you to save me, not just from hell, but from the hurts, habits, and hang-ups that keep causing me to stumble over and over in the same way.

“Thank you for your mercy! Please accept me into your family. I ask all this because of what you, Jesus, did for me on the cross at Easter. I pray in your name. Amen.”

¿Cómo Respondes a la Gracia?

“Dios nos hace justos a sus ojos cuando ponemos nuestra fe en Jesucristo. Y eso es verdad para todo el que cree, sea quien fuere”. Romanos 3:22 (NTV)

La salvación es un don gratuito. Puedes obtener el perdón de todos tus pecados y obtener un boleto gratis al Cielo. Pero, si bien la salvación es gratuita para ti, también es costosa, porque alguien tuvo que pagar por ella. Cuando Jesús fue a la cruz, pagó el precio para que tus pecados fueran perdonados.

Si hubiera alguna otra forma de ir al Cielo, ¿no crees que Dios la habría usado? Si hubiera alguna otra forma para que un Dios santo dejara a una persona imperfecta en un lugar perfecto, ¿no crees que Dios lo habría hecho en lugar de sacrificar a su propio Hijo? Por supuesto que lo habría hecho.

Mucha psicología popular dice que puedes ir al Cielo siendo una buena persona o simplemente creyendo que Dios y el Cielo existen. Pero si eso es cierto, entonces ¿por qué tuvo que morir Jesús? No se habría sometido a ese tipo de agonía si no fuera necesario.

La verdad es que todos estamos llenos de pecado. Y un Dios perfecto no podría dejarte entrar en su hogar perfecto sin que se pague un precio enorme por ese pecado. Por eso no basta con ser una buena persona. De hecho, no existe una persona verdaderamente buena. La Biblia dice que nosotros, todos y cada uno de nosotros, no alcanzamos la santidad de Dios. ¡Por eso necesitas un Salvador!

Dios es santo y tu pecado es feo. La salvación de tu pecado es costosa, ¡le costó la vida a Jesús! ¿Cómo deberías responder a eso?

Necesitas apartarte de tu pecado y confiar en que Jesús te salvará. La Biblia dice: “Dios nos hace justos a sus ojos cuando ponemos nuestra fe en Jesucristo. Y eso es verdad para todo el que cree, sea quien fuere” Romanos 3:22 (NTV).

Puedes venir a Cristo “sin importar quién seas o lo que hayas hecho”. ¿No es eso lo más amable que te han ofrecido?

¿De qué estás más avergonzado en tu vida? Jesús pagó por ello. Puedes dejar de golpearte a ti mismo, porque Jesús permitió que lo golpearan por ello. ¡No tienes que pagar por algo por lo que ya pagó!

Aléjate de tu pecado hoy y confía en que Jesús ya lo pagó al ser tu sustituto en la cruz. ¡Está terminado! Eso es lo mucho que te ama Jesús.

Jesús, gracias por amarme tanto que cargaste con toda mi culpa. Me hiciste aceptable para el Cielo y humildemente te pido que me salves. Yo creo en ti, Jesús. Y creo que mantendrás tu promesa de salvarme instantáneamente, por completo y eternamente. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén”.

When You Mess Up, God Gives Mercy

“Let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”

Hebrews 4:16 (NLT)

Jesus’ ministry was all about mercy. In fact, there wasn’t a person he didn’t show mercy to.

The definition of mercy is “undeserved forgiveness and unearned kindness.” When somebody forgives you and you don’t deserve it, that’s mercy. When somebody shows you a kindness you haven’t earned, that’s mercy. And the Bible says that God wants to show you mercy.

The truth is, you need mercy every single second of your life. The air you breathe and the water you drink are mercies from God. You wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for the mercy of God. God made you because he wanted to love you and show you his mercy.

There are many reasons you need God’s mercy in your life, starting with this one:

You need God’s mercy when you’ve messed up.

We all do. None of us is perfect! We don’t measure up to our own standards, much less to God’s standards. Ecclesiastes 7:20 says, “Not a single person on earth is always good and never sins” (NLT). In other words, nobody gets it right all the time.

The Bible also says, “We all stumble in many ways” (James 3:2 NIV).

Have you ever stumbled with your words, attitude, actions, or emotions? Maybe you have shown the wrong emotional response in a relationship and ended up hurting someone. When you keep stumbling over your sins and mistakes, how does God respond to you? With mercy.

“Let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most” (Hebrews 4:16 NLT).

God wants you to go to him with your habits, hurts, and hang-ups—and to go with confidence! He’s not going to scold you or condemn you. He’s going to respond with mercy.

Talk It Over

What are three ways that God shows you mercy in your daily life?
In what ways is it difficult for you to accept God’s mercy when you’ve messed up? How is it easy?
What sin do you need to confess and receive mercy for today?

No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’ve got a place in God’s forever family ready and waiting for you. The invitation is wide open. Just believe and receive.

Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can start with: “Dear God, I know when I die, I’m going to give an account of my life to you. I know I have sinned against you, and I have lived by my plan, not yours. I want that to change, starting right now. I want to turn away from my sins and toward you.

“Thank you for sending Jesus to die for all that I’ve done wrong so that I don’t have to pay the penalty. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I know only your grace can save me, Lord. I could never be good enough to get into a perfect place.

“Jesus, thank you for loving me so much that you took all my guilt on yourself. You made me acceptable for heaven, and I ask you to save me. I believe in you, Jesus. And I believe you will keep your promise to save me instantly, completely, and eternally. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Tu Problema Más Grande, y Qué Hacer Sobre Eso

“El problema está en que sus pecados los han separado de Dios. Por causa del pecado él ha escondido su rostro de ustedes y ya no quiere escucharlos”. Isaías 59:2 (NBV)

Hoy, muchas culturas no piensan que el pecado es feo. ¡De hecho, muchas personas piensan que el pecado es divertido!

Piensa en los medios, programas de televisión, los memes en las redes sociales y las películas que usan el pecado como algo gracioso.

Esa es la estrategia de Satanás: lograr que te rías de las mismas cosas que pusieron a Jesús en la cruz. Satanás disfraza el pecado para que se vea atractivo, deseable y divertido. Es muy raro que en los medios veas las consecuencias del pecado.

Si quieres saber cuán feo es realmente el pecado y el daño que ocasiona, mira a Jesús sangrando en la cruz. El sufrimiento de Jesús te muestra lo mucho que cuesta pagar por tus pecados. La cruz muestra el daño que hace el pecado.

¡El pecado tiene todo tipo de consecuencias en tu vida! Aquí hay solo tres de ellas.  

El pecado te aísla de Dios. ¿Por qué? Porque Dios es Santo, y tú no lo eres. El pecado crea un conflicto y pone distancia entre tú y Dios. Isaías 59:2 dice, “El problema está en que sus pecados los han separado de Dios. Por causa del pecado él ha escondido su rostro de ustedes y ya no quiere escucharlos” (NBV). El pecado siempre deja distanciamiento a su paso, aún entre tú y Dios.

El pecado causa enormes cantidades de estrés en tu vida. Una de las más grandes fuentes de estrés es culpabilidad no reconocida y no resuelta. El Rey David dijo, “Mi culpa me abruma; es una carga demasiado pesada para soportar” Salmo 38:4 (NTV).

Aferrarse al pecado tiene un precio emocional. Cuando tú rompes las leyes de Dios, eso te lleva a la preocupación, temor, culpa e inseguridad. No experimentarías esto si siempre hicieras las cosas a la manera de Dios. Pero no lo haces y no puedes. Esta es la realidad del pecado.

El pecado te condena. Cuando violentas las leyes de Dios, siempre hay una penalidad —en ambas, auto condenación y juicio de un Dios justo. Salmos 7:11 dice, “Dios es un juez justo, un Dios que en todo tiempo manifiesta su enojo” (NVI).

Quizás pienses que tu mayor problema es un conflicto en una relación, un problema de salud, o problemas para encontrar un trabajo. Pero la realidad es, que tu mayor problema es que estás en guerra con Dios.

¡Por eso es por lo que estás tan frustrado!  ¡Por eso estás estresado! No fuiste creado para vivir fuera de armonía con tu Creador, quien te ama. Él te hizo, y envió a su Hijo a morir por ti. Él quiere estar en armonía contigo.

Arrepiéntete de tus pecados hoy —y cada día— para que puedas estar en paz con Dios siempre.

Cuando te encuentras tú mismo riéndote del pecado, ¿cuáles son las mentiras que te estás diciendo a ti mismo?¿Cómo se toma a la ligera el pecado a través de los programas de televisión, películas, libros y las redes sociales que consumes?¿De qué formas el entender la severidad del pecado afecta como ves y entiendes la gracia de Dios?

 

Si no has confiado en Jesús ni te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más?

Tus pecados te separan de Dios. Y es solo la gracia de Dios que puede volver a llevarte a tener una relación verdadera con Él.

La Biblia dice, “Porque por gracia son salvos por medio de la fe; y esto no de ustedes pues es don de Dios. No es por obras, para que nadie se gloríe” Efesios 2:8-9 (RVA-2015).

Si estás listo para hacer las paces con tu Creador, haz esta oración:

“Querido Jesús, yo no quiero que mi pecado me separe de ti nada más. Tú has prometido que si confío en ti, todo lo que alguna vez he hecho malo será perdonado, aprenderé el propósito de mi vida, tú me aceptarás en tu morada eterna en el Cielo un día.

Yo confieso mi pecado, y creo que Tú eres mi Salvador. Tú has prometido que si yo confieso mi pecado y confío en ti, yo seré salvo. Yo confío en ti cuando dices que tu salvación viene por gracia, por medio de la fe y no por algo que yo pueda hacer. Te recibo en mi vida como mi Señor. Hoy, te estoy entregando cada parte de mi vida bajo tu administración.

Yo quiero vivir de la manera en la que me creaste para vivir y usar el resto de mi vida para servirte en lugar de servirme a mí mismo. Comprometo mi vida a ti y te pido que me salves y aceptes en tu familia. En el nombre de Jesús oro. Amen”.

The First Easter Changed Everything

“A new day will dawn on us from above because our God is loving and merciful.”

Luke 1:78 (GW)

This Easter, hundreds of millions of people will wake up before daylight and attend an Easter sunrise service. In fact, Easter is the only holiday we celebrate at the break of dawn.

Why do we do this?

Because it was at the break of dawn, on a brand-new day, when his followers heard the news that Jesus Christ had risen from the dead—and it changed everything.

The Bible says, “At dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay’” (Matthew 28:1-6 NIV).

Why is Easter so important?

Because it proved that Jesus Christ was telling the truth. Jesus made some outrageous claims. He claimed to be the Son of God and the only way to heaven. In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (NIV).

Many people throughout history have claimed to be God. But the difference with Jesus is that he was the only one who proved to be God. Jesus said, “I’m going to prove it. I’m going to die for the sins of the world, and three days later I’m going to raise myself back to life.” And that’s exactly what he did.

The resurrection of Jesus is the most important event of all time. It split history into A.D. and B.C. Now every time you write a date, you are using Jesus Christ as the reference point. Even your own birthday—the day, the month, and the year—is dated from the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

And it all happened on the dawn of a new day. Luke 1:78 says, “A new day will dawn on us from above because our God is loving and merciful” (GW).

Notice the word “merciful.” Over the next several days, we’re going take a closer look at God’s mercy and answer the questions: When do I need God’s mercy in my life? What happens when I accept it?

Talk It Over

Have you ever been part of an Easter sunrise service? What was it like to celebrate Easter at sunrise? If you’ve never been to an Easter sunrise service, plan on attending one this year.
Jesus claimed to be “the way and the truth and the life.” Which of these claims is most significant to you during this Easter season?
What evidence do you see that Jesus’ resurrection was the most important event of all time?

God wants you in his family

God made you to love you, and one of the places you see that most clearly is on the cross. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, God made it possible for you to become part of his family for eternity. No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’ve got a place in God’s forever family ready and waiting for you. The invitation is wide open. Just believe and receive.

Alguien tiene que Pagar por el Pecado

“Tú eres tan puro que no toleras a los que hacen maldades, ni te quedas callado ante la injusticia”. Habacuc 1:13 (NBV)

En la mitología griega y romana, todos los dioses —como Zeus, Júpiter, and Apolo— tienen debilidades humanas. Ellos se enojan. Sienten lujuria. Son impacientes. Ellos exterminan personas con relámpagos. Ellos son inconsistentes y no se puede confiar en ellos.

Pero el Dios real, el Dios que creó el universo, es 100% puro, justo e incorruptible. Él nunca ha hecho algo malo, impuro o imperfecto. Eso se llama santidad. Habacuc 1:13 dice, “Tú eres tan puro que no toleras a los que hacen maldades, ni te quedas callado ante la injusticia” (NBV).

Debido a que Dios es 100 por ciento perfecto, tú puedes confiar en Él, muy diferente a los dioses de la mitología. Pero Su perfección también significa que no puede estar alrededor del pecado. Así que, en la cruz, Dios tomó cada pecado del mundo y los derramó todos sobre su Hijo perfecto, Jesucristo, quien se ofreció para hacer esto. ¡Por eso Él vino a la tierra!

Lo que Jesús hizo en la cruz se llama sustitución. Si Jesús no hubiera sido tu sustituto, entonces tú hubieras tenido que pagar por tus propios pecados. Dios no deseaba que tuvieras que pagar por ellos, así que envió a Jesús para que fuera tu sustitución. Jesús pagó a la ley. Él hizo lo que la justicia demandaba.

Pero no fue fácil para Jesús. De hecho, fue una tortura. ¿Sabes lo mal que te sientes cuando te sientes culpable por un pecado? ¿Cómo te gustaría cargar la culpa de cada acto horroroso que jamás se halla cometido, cada pecado cometido en contra de otra persona, todos los pecados cometidos en secreto? Eso sería una tortura mental, emocional y espiritual.

En la cruz, Jesús clamó, “Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has abandonado?” Mateo 27:46 (NTV). Él no solo estaba experimentando agonía. Él estaba experimentando el tormento de ser separado de su Padre.

Un Dios que es santo ni siquiera podía soportar mirar a su Hijo, lleno de los pecados del mundo. Dios apartó su mirada porque Él es perfecto. ¿Puedes imaginar lo que esto le costó a Jesús?

Pero Jesús estaba dispuesto a pasar por ese dolor porque Él quería que tú tuvieras una forma de estar en relación con el Dios Santo.

Alguien tenía que tomar todo ese castigo, y Jesús lo hizo por ti. Jesús se convirtió en tu sustituto para que, cuando Dios te mire, no vea tu pecado. Él ve la santidad de Jesucristo.

Y por eso, tú puedes experimentar ambas, no sólo la vida eterna, sino una vida plena y con propósito aquí en la tierra.

¿Por qué es amoroso para Dios estar lleno de justicia?¿Qué nos revela el acto de la sustitución sobre el carácter de Dios?¿Cómo tú piensas que debes responder ante la verdad de que Jesús sufrió y murió por ti en la cruz?

Si aún no has confiado en Jesús y te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más?

No tienes que ganarte el amor de Dios o trabajar tu camino al Cielo. La Biblia dice, “Porque por gracia son salvos por medio de la fe; y esto no de ustedes pues es don de Dios. No es por obras, para que nadie se gloríe” Efesios 2:8-9 (RVA 2015).

Si estás listo para comprometer tu vida a Cristo, haz esta oración:

“Querido Jesús, tú has prometido que, si yo creo en ti, todo lo que alguna vez he hecho malo será perdonado, aprenderé el propósito de mi vida, y tú me aceptarás en tu morada eterna un día.

Confieso mi pecado, y creo que eres mi Salvador. Tú has prometido que, si confieso mi pecado y confío en ti, seré salvo. Confío en ti cuando dices que la salvación viene por gracia, por medio de la fe, y no por nada que yo haga. Te recibo en mi vida hoy como mi Señor. Hoy te entrego cada parte de mi vida a tu administración.

Quiero usar el resto de mi vida para servirte en lugar de servirme a mí mismo. Comprometo mi vida a ti y te pido que me salves y me aceptes en tu familia. En el nombre de Jesús oro. Amén”.

More Mercy, More Like Jesus

“Love is . . . never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-5 (TLB)

One of the best things you can do for your family is to show them mercy. Mercy is love in action. So when you overlook irritations and choose to be kind to your family—even when they don’t deserve it—you’re being merciful.

Another important way you can show mercy in your home is to let go of past hurts.

Do you keep a mental record every time someone in your family does something wrong?

Are you quick to remind someone of how they have hurt you? The Bible says that real love doesn’t store up hurts and offenses to be used later for revenge. When you hold on to a hurt like that, you are not being loving.

The Bible says, “Love is . . . never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5 TLB).

Notice how “rude” and “does not hold grudges” are in the same verse. That’s the reason people are rude: They’re reacting to a past hurt they’ve been holding on to and then taking it out on others. And when they react to a past hurt, they can’t relate to the present.

Leviticus 19:18 says, “Do not take revenge on others or continue to hate them, but love your neighbors as you love yourself” (GNT).

Are past grudges holding you hostage today? Don’t hold grudges over your spouse’s or children’s heads. And don’t tell other people about your grudges, either. That’s gossip! Instead, just let it go.

Sometimes it’s hardest to show mercy to the people who are closest to you. But when you can let it go and be merciful, you are learning to be more like Jesus.

Talk It Over

What grudge have you been nursing? Why? How can you be intentional about letting it go?
There are many steps you can take to find healing from past pain—including seeking biblical counseling and mentoring, praying through Scripture, and obeying the Holy Spirit. What is one step you can take today, however big or small, toward healing?
Why do you think it’s sometimes more difficult to show mercy to your family than anyone else?

How to Make Peace with God

God wants you to make peace with others, but first he wants you to make peace with him. This means that you accept his gift of grace and believe that Jesus paid for all your sins.

The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8, “For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it” (GNT).

If you’re ready to accept that promise and make peace with God, then pray: “Dear God, you have promised that if I believe in Jesus’ death and resurrection as the Son of God and his sacrifice for me, then everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, and you will accept me into your family.

“I confess my sin, and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you are my Savior. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today I’m turning over every part of my life to you, and I commit to serving you for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

How to Make Peace with Others

If you’ve been easily irritated, demanding, unkind, or unforgiving toward others lately, and you want a fresh start, then you can say this to God today: “Lord, please forgive me for withholding mercy from the people in my life, especially my family. You have given me the best example of how to show grace to others, and I want to be obedient to you in this.

“Please help me to let go of my grudges and make peace with my family. I want to show them your love by responding with kindness and patience instead of resentment or anger. I know I need your help to be able to do this. Thank you that you are ready and willing to give it! In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

El Amor de Dios es para Siempre

“ Y estoy convencido de que nada podr á jamás separarnos del amor de Dios. Ni la muerte ni la vida, ni ángeles ni demonios, ni nuestros temores de hoy ni nuestras preocupaciones de mañana. Ni siquiera los poderes del infierno pueden separarnos del amor de Dios. Ningún poder en las alturas ni en las profundidades, de hecho, nada en toda la creación podrá jamás separarnos del amor de Dios, que está revelado en Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor “. Romanos 8:38-39 (NTV)

No importa lo mala que sea la vida, puedes descansar en una verdad importante: Dios no dejará de amarte.

Harás que las cosas salgan bien. Harás que las cosas salgan mal. Pero el amor de Dios nunca terminará, puedes contar con eso.

¡Esa verdad debería ser una de las fuentes de gozo más importantes de tu vida!

La Biblia lo dice así en Romanos 8: 38-39: “Y estoy convencido de que nada podrá jamás separarnos del amor de Dios. Ni la muerte ni la vida, ni ángeles ni demonios, ni nuestros temores de hoy ni nuestras preocupaciones de mañana. Ni siquiera los poderes del infierno pueden separarnos del amor de Dios. Ningún poder en las alturas ni en las profundidades, de hecho, nada en toda la creación podrá jamás separarnos del amor de Dios, que está revelado en Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor” (NTV).

Esas son buenas noticias.

Cuando pones tu mano en la mano de Dios, Él la agarra y no la suelta. Dios se aferra a ti con todo lo que tiene.

Cuando mis hijos eran pequeños, fuimos al Gran Cañón. Cuando llegamos al borde, agarré las manos de mis dos hijos menores, Josh y Matthew. Por supuesto, querían acercarse más al borde de lo que yo quería que se acercaran. Intentaron retorcerse y liberarse, pero no los dejé ir. Yo era su padre y los amaba.

Tendrás momentos en tu vida en los que querrás soltar la mano de Dios. Querrás renunciar a tu compromiso con Cristo cuando los tiempos se pongan difíciles.

Pero Dios no te dejará ir nunca. Una vez que pones tu mano en la de Él, está ahí para quedarse.

Si ganaras tu salvación trabajando por ella, podrías perderla en el momento en que dejes de trabajar por ella. Pero no te ganaste tu relación con Dios. Fue un regalo, fue gratis. Una vez que se ha dado, no se puede quitar.

Esa es una fuente inimaginable de gozo para cualquier creyente.

Romanos 8:39 promete: “nada en toda la creación podrá jamás separarnos del amor de Dios, que está revelado en Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor” (NTV). ¿Has puesto tu mano en la de Dios confiando en Jesús como tu Salvador? Si estás listo para entregar tu vida a Jesús, entonces haz esta oración:

“Querido Jesús, me has prometido que si creo en ti, todo lo que hice mal será perdonado, aprenderé el propósito de mi vida y algún día me aceptarás en tu hogar eterno en el Cielo.

Confieso mi pecado y creo que eres Dios, mi Salvador. Te recibo en mi vida como mi Señor. Hoy, te entrego cada parte de mi vida. Quiero seguirte y hacer lo que me digas que haga.

Jesús, estoy agradecido por tu amor y tu sacrificio que me permiten unirme a ti en el Cielo. Sé que no me lo merezco. Y les agradezco que no tengo que ganarme ni trabajar para mi salvación, porque sé que eso es imposible. Creo que, una vez que acepto tu amor y tu salvación, nada podrá separarme de eso.

Quiero usar el resto de mi vida para servirte en lugar de servirme a mí mismo. Humildemente te entrego mi vida y te pido que me salves y me aceptes en tu familia. En el nombre de Jesús oro. Amén”.

How to Show Mercy in an Unkind World

“When you talk, you should always be kind and pleasant so you will be able to answer everyone in the way you should.”

Colossians 4:6 (NCV)

One of the best ways to be a witness for Jesus in a world that’s becoming more judgmental, selfish, and unforgiving is to show mercy to others.

Yesterday we looked at two things you can do to build a lifestyle of mercy: Start looking and listening for people’s needs, and don’t be offended by the sins of others.

Here are two more ways to show mercy:

Choose your words carefully. If you’re going to show mercy, there are some things you just can’t say. You can’t be rude or sarcastic. Mercy puts a monitor on your mouth and helps you choose words that build people up instead of tearing them down.

Colossians 4:6 says, “When you talk, you should always be kind and pleasant so you will be able to answer everyone in the way you should” (NCV).

Maybe you grew up in a family where it was common to put each other down, and now you’ve developed the same pattern in your own life. How do you break that habit? Ask God for wisdom because “the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy” (James 3:17 ESV).

The wiser you become, the more merciful you’ll be to the people around you—no matter how much they disagree with you or dislike you. That’s because the more you understand the hurts of other people, the more likely you are to cut them slack and show them mercy.

Value saving people over keeping rules. Jesus modeled this over and over. A good example is found in the book of Matthew. Jesus says this to the legalistic Pharisees: “You are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law—justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things” (Matthew 23:23 NLT).

Jesus didn’t like how the Pharisees prioritized tithing over more important things, such as treating people fairly, showing mercy, and having faith. He wants us to “not neglect the more important things” too. He would rather see our kindness break through to others so that, one day, they will give their lives to him. Jesus is more interested in kingdom building than in rule following.

Every time you show mercy, that’s your greatest Christian witness to the world.
