You’re Still on God’s ‘Plan A’

“We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

Romans 8:28 (NLT)

God does not have a “Plan B” for your life.

No matter what mistakes you’ve made, you’re still on God’s “Plan A” for your life. He has not revoked his original dream for your life. It doesn’t matter what other people did to you, what you’ve done to others or yourself, or what mistakes or poor decisions you’ve made. You can still fulfill God’s dream for your life.

Even your mistakes are part of God’s plan. This truth will set you free if you claim it. It will set you free to stop thinking, “Well, I’m not worthy to dream because I’ve messed up too much. I don’t deserve to have a big dream.” You don’t have to believe those lies anymore. You serve a bigger God than that!

One of the most famous verses in the Bible, Romans 8:28, says, “We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them” (NLT).

Everything is in God’s hand—the good, the bad, the evil, the poor decisions, the sins. He didn’t cause all of it, but he is still in control of it all.

And God causes everything to work together for good. The Bible doesn’t say that everything is good—because it’s not. There is a lot of sin and evil in the world.

It’s not all good. But God causes it all to work together for good. That promise isn’t for everyone; it’s just for those who love God and are called according to his purpose—his dream—for them.

When you think God can’t put back together the pieces of your life, remember that God can do anything. He is still at work—still working out his plan for your life, and still waiting to give you his dream for your life if you haven’t claimed it already.

When you give him your life, God will work to make all the pieces fit together so that your whole life serves his purposes on earth.

Talk It Over

What is the mistake or sin you’ve thought God could never forgive? How has that belief kept you from getting God’s dream for your life?
How do you think God really feels about that sin? Why?

What does it mean to surrender the broken pieces of your life to Jesus?

Are you willing to do that today? Then pray this simple prayer – "Dear God, I know I’m a sinner, and I’ve messed up in so many ways. I’ve wondered if I could ever get my life back together. I’m so grateful you still love me and care about my life.”

“I ask that you forgive me of my sins. I believe Jesus Christ is your Son. I believe that he died for my sins and that you raised him to life. I want to trust him as my Savior and follow him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

El Amor Echa Fuera El Temor

“Sin embargo, cuando alguien sigue pecando, demuestra que pertenece al diablo, el cual peca desde el principio; pero el Hijo de Dios vino para destruir las obras del diablo”. 1 Juan 3:8 (NTV)

Jesús venció la muerte, y eso significa que también venció a Satanás. De hecho, es por eso que vino a la Tierra. La Biblia dice, “pero el Hijo de Dios vino para destruir las obras del diablo” 1 Juan 3:8 (NTV).

¿Cuál es el trabajo del Diablo? Él confunde tu mente. Él la llena de preocupación, culpa, resentimiento, coraje, temor, y confusión. Él susurra a tu oído que tú no vales, no tienes remedio, esperanza, ni propósito.

Satanás usa estos pensamientos y emociones para mantenerte esclavizado.

La herramienta más grande que usa Satanás para desordenar tu vida es el temor. La Biblia dice claramente que el temor no viene de Dios: “En el amor no hay temor, sino que el perfecto amor echa fuera el temor” 1 Juan 4:18 (RVC). La Biblia también dice en 1 Juan 4:16, “Dios es amor”. Así que, cuando tienes temor, eso no viene de Dios —porque no hay temor en el amor, y Dios es amor.

Como pastor, he aprendido que la principal cosa a la que la mayoría de las personas le teme es a la muerte. Satanás usará ese temor para manipularte.

Pero Jesús venció a la muerte; Él destruyó la obra del Diablo. Así que, cuando tú como cristiano te afliges por una muerte, te afliges con esperanza.

Tú te afliges porque extrañas a esos que has perdido. Tú te afliges, pero sabes que, si ellos creyeron en Jesús, los volverás a ver nuevamente en el cielo. Ellos están esperando en ese lugar donde todos estábamos diseñados a ir en el primer lugar.

En Hebreos 2:14-15, la Biblia dice, “Por tanto, ya que ellos son de carne y hueso, él también compartió esa naturaleza humana para anular, mediante la muerte, al que tiene el dominio de la muerte —es decir, al diablo—, y librar a todos los que por temor a la muerte estaban sometidos a esclavitud durante toda la vida” (NVI).

Así que, ya sea que sientes el temor subir a tu corazón —ya sea temor a la muerte o cualquier otro temor— recuerda que el temor no viene de Dios. Luego pídele a Dios que eche fuera ese temor con su perfecto amor.

¿Estás seguro a dónde irás cuando mueras?   

Muchas personas le temen a la muerte —en parte porque ellos no saben hacia dónde irán cuando mueran. Pero Jesús vino a salvarte del temor a la muerte.

La Biblia dice que cada uno de nosotros peca y que el castigo del pecado es la muerte. Pero Dios te ama tanto que envió a su Hijo, Jesús, a pagar el castigo de tus pecados, para traerte a la familia de Dios, y para salvarte del temor a la muerte.

Si estás listo para entrar a la familia de Dios, aquí tienes una oración que puedes hacer para comenzar:

“Querido Dios, yo sé que cuando muera voy a dar cuentas de mi vida directamente a ti. Yo confieso que te he ignorado. Yo sé que he pecado en contra tuya, y que he vivido según mi plan, y no el tuyo. Yo quiero cambiar, comenzando ahora mismo. Yo quiero alejarme de mis pecados y acercarme a ti.

Gracias por enviar a Jesús a morir por todo lo malo que he cometido para que yo no tenga que pagar el castigo. Yo no merezco tu perdón. Yo sé que solo tu gracia puede salvarme, Señor.

Jesús, gracias por amarme tanto que tomaste toda mi culpa en ti mismo. Me hiciste aceptable para el Cielo y humildemente te pido que me salves. Te pido que me salves de mis pecados y del temor a la muerte. Yo creo en ti, Jesús. Yo creo que mantendrás tu promesa de salvarme instantánea, verdadera, completa, y eternamente. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén”.

Jesus’ Prayer and Plan for Your Failures

“Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”

Luke 22:31-32 (NLT)

Jesus is not surprised by your failures.

He says to Simon Peter in Luke 22:31-32, “Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers” (NLT). This very powerful verse teaches a lot about your failures.

Just as he did with Peter, Jesus knows every failure in your life before it happens. He won’t be surprised at the failures you’ll have this year or any bad decisions you’ll make far in the future. He already knows them. He knows the past, present, and future. He knows everything before it happens. That’s why he also prays for you before your failure happens.

Notice that Jesus says, “when you have repented and turned to me again.” He doesn’t say “if.” Jesus already knows that you’ll recover from the sins, mistakes, and bad decisions that you’re going to make in the future.

God already knows. And because he knows, he has already prayed for you. He has prayed not just for you to make it through but that you would repent from your sin and then—the last part of this verse—strengthen the other disciples.

Jesus wants you to help others as you learn from your mistakes. Part of God’s dream for your life is to take the lessons of your mistakes and help somebody else.

The same four things Jesus says to Peter he is also saying to you: “I know every mistake you’re going to make in life, and I’ve already prayed for them. Because of that, I know you’re going to come back to me. Then, when you come back, I want you to help other people.”

That’s good news. It means that, ultimately, you can’t destroy your life if you’ve given it to God, because he is going to work it all out. What a comfort!

Everyone has failures. But how you respond to failure can set you apart. As a follower of Jesus, repent of your sin; then encourage other believers in their faith, showing them how to be obedient to God’s Word.

Talk It Over

Even though Jesus knows ahead of time that you’re going to repent, why is the process of repentance still so important?
Does it comfort and encourage you to know that Jesus prays for you? Why or why not?
What failures to obey God do you need to repent of today? How will you use your experience of God’s grace to help others?

God offers second chances

No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, God offers you a second chance. He knows everything you’ve ever done wrong, every failure you’ve experienced, and he still loves you and cares for you.

He doesn’t expect you to earn your way into his good graces; we are saved by God’s gift of grace when we place our faith in his Son, Jesus Christ. If you are ready to accept God’s grace through Jesus, then pray this simple prayer:

"Dear God, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is your Son. I believe that he died for my sins and that you raised him to life. I want to trust him as my Savior and follow him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Orando las Promesas de Dios

“Si necesitan sabiduría, pídansela a nuestro generoso Dios, y él se la dará; no los reprenderá por pedirla”. Santiago 1:5 (NTV)

La oración, en sí misma, es un acto de fe.

Cuando te acercas a Dios en oración, es porque tienes fe en que Él responderá. A medida que enfocas tu atención en Dios, comienzas a ver que Él es más grande y poderoso que cualquiera de tus problemas, y esa comprensión aumentará tu fe porque comenzarás a creer que Él puede cumplir sus promesas. Y luego, cuando veas que Dios responde tus oraciones, tu fe se profundizará porque verás de primera mano que Él puede hacer lo que dice que puede hacer.

A medida que aprendes a orar con fe, un buen punto para comenzar es reclamar las promesas de Dios que se encuentran en la Biblia.

¿Sabías que hay más de 7.000 promesas en la Biblia? Estas promesas brindan la respuesta a todas tus necesidades y problemas. Y, cuando no estés seguro de qué orar, puedes usarlas para ayudar a dar palabras a tus oraciones.

A continuación, se muestra un ejemplo de cómo puedes usar una de las promesas de Dios como oración que fortalecerá tu fe.

Isaías 40:31 dice: “Pero los que esperan en el Señor renovarán sus fuerzas: emprenderán vuelo como si tuvieran alas de águilas, correrán y no se cansarán, caminarán y no desfallecerán” (NBV). Para usar esta promesa de Dios como una oración, puedes orar: “Dios, estoy tan cansado y desanimado. Siento que me rindo. Sin embargo, en fe, sé que renovarás mis fuerzas. Me levantarás y me darás nueva energía para que pueda seguir adelante. Mi esperanza está en ti. Gracias por ayudarme a avanzar y seguir adelante. Amén”.

Oraciones como esta ayudan a aumentar tu fe. Te recuerdan lo que Dios ha prometido; entonces ves en tu propia vida cómo Dios cumple sus promesas.

Aquí hay una lista de algunas de las promesas de Dios en la Biblia. Intenta orar algunas de ellas y observa cómo aumenta tu fe al ver que Dios cumple sus promesas.

“El Señor da fuerzas al cansado, y aumenta el vigor del que desfallece”. Isaías 40:29 (RVC)“No tengas miedo, porque yo estoy contigo; no te desalientes, porque yo soy tu Dios. Te daré fuerzas y te ayudaré; te sostendré con mi mano derecha victoriosa”. Isaías 41:10 (NTV)“El Señor mismo peleará por ustedes. Solo quédense tranquilos”. Éxodo 14:14 (NTV).“Pero si confesamos a Dios nuestros pecados, él, que es fiel y justo, nos perdonará y nos limpiará de toda maldad”. 1 Juan 1:9 (NBV)“No tengas miedo porque el Señor irá delante de ti y estará contigo. Él no te desamparará. No temas ni te desanimes”. Deuteronomio 31:8 (NBV)“Así que mi Dios les proveerá de todo lo que necesiten, conforme a las gloriosas riquezas que tiene en Cristo Jesús”. Filipenses 4:19 (NVI)“Aunque ande en valle de sombra de muerte no temeré mal alguno, porque tú estarás conmigo. Tu vara y tu cayado me infundirán aliento”. A medida que te acostumbres a orar las promesas de Dios, puede resultarte de utilidad escribir tus oraciones. Elige una de las promesas del devocional de hoy y escribe una oración a Dios. Habla con Él sobre Su promesa. Dile que confías en Él para cumplir su promesa.

Aquí tienes un ejemplo:

La promesa de Dios

Ejemplo de oración

“Padre, tantas veces me olvido de pedir lo que realmente necesito —y la sabiduría es una de mis mayores necesidades. Estoy muy agradecido por esta Escritura y la promesa que contiene. Gracias por ser tan generoso y dispuesto a darme la sabiduría que necesito en mis circunstancias diarias. Dios, quiero vivir según las promesas y los principios de tu Palabra, no según las normas del mundo. Enséñame a pedir sabiduría con valentía todos los días para que pueda navegar en la vida de acuerdo con tu voluntad y para tu gloria. Te lo pido en el precioso nombre de Jesús. Amén”.

Find a Dream That’s Worth Your Life

“An athlete goes to all this trouble just to win a blue ribbon or a silver cup, but we do it for a heavenly reward that never disappears. So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step. I fight to win.”

1 Corinthians 9:25-26 (TLB)

The right dream focuses your energy. And we all could use more focused energy, right? It seems harder and harder to find these days.

By now you’ve learned that you can’t do everything. But not everything is worth doing; some things are more important than others. God doesn’t expect you to do everything. So you shouldn’t expect yourself to be able to do everything.

Smart selection is key. You have to decide what matters and what doesn’t, what dream is worth your life and what dream is not worth one second of your life.

Did you ever dream about being famous? Or maybe the best in the world at something? Or the richest person you know?

Those dreams are not worth a moment of your life, because they are fleeting. One minute you could be a hero, and the next minute, you’re a zero. One minute you’re on the cover of some magazine, and the next week it’s in the trash.

Going after trophies is a foolish goal. Why? Because, given enough time, all your trophies are going to be thrown away by someone in this generation or the next.

Don’t live your life for trophies and world records and fame. Those are not big enough dreams!

You need a dream that impacts eternity. That kind of dream focuses your energy and helps you endure.

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 9:25-26, “An athlete goes to all this trouble just to win a blue ribbon or a silver cup, but we do it for a heavenly reward that never disappears. So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step. I fight to win” (TLB).

When you choose God’s dream for your life, you become purpose driven. You’re not like a boxer practicing by punching the air. When you punch, you do it to score. You’re not just playing around with your life.

God’s dream focuses your energy so that you can run straight to the goal he has set for you. When you run with that kind of effort, you won’t waste a second of your life.

Cómo Reclamar tu Herencia

“ Ahora los encomiendo a Dios y al mensaje de su gracia, mensaje que tiene poder para edificarlos y darles herencia entre todos los santificados ”. Hechos 20:32 (NVI)

¿Eres un seguidor de Jesús? ¿Lees la Biblia? Si ambas cosas son ciertas para ti, entonces tienes una herencia en camino.

La Biblia dice en Hechos 20:32 “Ahora los encomiendo a Dios y al mensaje de su gracia, mensaje que tiene poder para edificarlos y darles herencia entre todos los santificados” (NVI).

Una herencia es algo que es legítimamente tuyo, solo por ser parte de una familia. Pero, para disfrutar de los beneficios de esa herencia, tienes que reclamarla.

Imagina que tus padres fueran multimillonarios. Sería una tontería si nunca te tomaras el tiempo de leer su testamento después de su muerte. No obtendrías lo que se te debe por derecho. No te beneficiarías de lo que te pertenece como hijo.

Cuando te conviertes en un seguidor de Jesús, no eres solo un creyente —perteneces. Te conviertes en parte de la familia de Dios. Y todos los privilegios familiares vienen con eso, incluida una herencia espiritual.

Pero aún es posible para ti caminar toda tu vida y no saber qué beneficios están disponibles para ti como hijo de Dios. Elegir vivir de esa manera es triste —y tonto.

Dios quiere que sepas lo que está disponible para ti de Él. Quiere que recibas tu herencia espiritual. Y, para hacer eso, necesitas leer la Biblia.

La Biblia dice en 2 Timoteo 3:16-17 “Toda la Escritura es inspirada por Dios y útil para enseñar, para reprender, para corregir y para instruir en la justicia, a fin de que el siervo de Dios esté enteramente capacitado para toda buena obra” (NVI).

La Biblia te ayuda a vivir el propósito de Dios para tu vida. Te prepara a fondo para lo que Dios te ha creado para hacer. Esa es tu herencia espiritual. Aquí hay cuatro cosas que Dios hace a través de las Escrituras para transmitir esa herencia espiritual:

Él te enseña: Dios te muestra el camino que debes seguir.Él te reprende: Dios te muestra cuando estás fuera del camino.Él te corrige: Dios te muestra cómo puedes volver al camino.Él te entrena: Dios te muestra cómo puedes mantenerte en el camino.

Conforme Dios te enseña, reprende, corrige y entrena, estarás equipado para la vida que Él ha planeado para ti. ¡Podrás reclamar y disfrutar tu herencia espiritual!

What Great Dreams Are Made Of

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness.”

Matthew 6:22-23 (NIV)

You shape your dreams, and then your dreams shape you. If you don’t have a dream for your life, then you don’t have any definition for your life.

So many people today are confused about their identity. In fact, our society is having a collective identity crisis. People are asking: “Who am I?” “Where did I come from?” “Where am I going?” “What am I supposed to be doing?” “Does my life matter?” “What gives my life significance?” “Is there any reason for it all?” Those questions shape their dreams, and those dreams just feed into the identity confusion.

The only way to have clear definition for your life is to have God’s dream for your life. If you don’t, you won’t know who you are or who God wants you to be. You’ll always be asking yourself these questions. You’ll doubt what you’re doing and why you’re doing it; you’ll wonder if what you do has any meaning.

Your dreams define you—so you’ve got to make sure you’ve got the right dream! And the only way to know you have the right dream is to find out what God’s dream is for your life.

Jesus said, “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness” (Matthew 6:22-23 NIV).

When you have great vision, you see past what is in front of you to the long-term—even to eternity. A great dream is born of an eternal perspective and faith in God’s good plan for your life. A short vision will define a small dream. But a long vision will define an impactful, meaningful dream.

Choose your dream wisely. A dream based on God’s vision for your life will make a difference in how well you live out your purpose. And it will also point others to God and his plan, the only way to find fullness of life.

Tienes el Poder de Cristo

“Dios nos rescató de la oscuridad en que vivíamos, y nos llevó al reino de su amado Hijo”. Colosenses 1:13 (TLA)

En la cruz, Jesús destruyó el poder de Satanás parar controlar tu mente, tu vida y tu destino. Cuando Jesús dijo: “Consumado es” Juan 19:30 (RVC), Satanás debió haber dicho: “Estoy acabado”. ¡Mis días están contados!

Jesús ha ganado la victoria sobre la muerte y sobre Satanás. Pero si no tienes el poder de Cristo en tu vida, entonces estás indefenso contra el mal. Satanás puede manipular tus emociones. Él puede meterse con tu mente. Él puede hacerte adicto a toda clase de cosas. ¡Y no tienes poder sin Cristo!

Satanás tiene dos herramientas favoritas para atacarte: La tentación y la condenación.

Él usa la tentación para minimizar el pecado: ¡No es tan grave! ¡Todos los hacen! ¡ Tú sabes lo que te hará feliz mucho más que Dios! Satanás no tiene que decirlo fuerte y claro. Él solo pone esas ideas en tu mente. Cuando Dios te da una idea, se llama inspiración. Cuando Satanás te pone una idea en tu mente, se llama tentación.

Entonces, el momento en el que cometes ese pecado en particular, satanás cambia la estrategia y, en vez de minimizar el pecado, lo maximiza: ¡cómo fuiste capaz de hacer eso! ¿ acaso estás bromeando? Dios nunca te volverá a amar, se terminó. Dios nunca te usará. Eso es tan grave que tú nunca jamás serás perdonado.

Primero, Satanás te tienta. Luego, él te condena. ¿Ves su estrategia? Minimiza el pecado antes de que lo hagas y después lo magnifica. 

En la cruz, cuando Jesucristo dijo: “Consumado es”, Él venció la tentación y la condenación.

Jesús destruyó el poder irresistible de la tentación. Él ahora te da el poder de soportarla: “Dios nos rescató de la oscuridad en que vivíamos, y nos llevó al reino de su amado Hijo” Colosenses 1:13 (TLA).

La muerte y Resurrección de Jesús fue un golpe fatal para Satanás.

Si tienes a Jesucristo en tu vida, entonces Satanás tiene cero poder sobre ti, excepto en las áreas que has elegido entregarle. Cuando eliges rendirte a la tentación de Satanás a través del resentimiento, culpa, preocupación, o temor, entonces le das el punto de apoyo en tu vida. Pero, si eliges decir no, él no puede tocarte.

Con el poder de Dios en tu vida, Satanás no puede lastimarte. Tu vida está escondida con Cristo en Dios (Colosenses 3:3), y estás protegido. No tienes que escuchar a satanás. Tienes el poder de decir “No”.

God’s Dream Is for Your Good and His Glory

“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.”

Ephesians 3:20 (The Message)

God’s dream for your life will always be far bigger than your dream.

How do I know that? Because God promises it: “God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us” (Ephesians 3:20 The Message).

Think of the greatest dream for your life, and God will top it. He can beat your dream with one that’s bigger than you could ever think up! But he doesn’t give you your dream by pushing you around. In fact, he draws you to him and works in you with great gentleness and care.

God doesn’t only give you a big dream for your life. After he gives you the dream, he then arranges the circumstances to make it happen.

Things will happen in your life that make you think, “There’s no way that could have happened without God’s help.” No way that you could have met that person at just the right time, or that the money could have come just as you needed it, or that an opportunity opened up at the perfect moment.

When you get in line with God’s will, you can’t miss it, because God doesn’t sponsor flops. Success is inevitable! It won’t always look like you think, because God knows better, but it will always be for your good and for God’s glory.

God says in Revelation 3:8, “I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut” (NIV). When God gives you a dream, then he circumstantially provides the open doors for you to make that dream come true.

Then you just need the courage to walk through that open door. That’s where faith comes in. Many people understand God’s dream for their life but are scared to death to walk through the door.

When you surrender your plans and dreams to God so that he can give you his plans and dreams for your life, you need to be prepared to walk through a door when he opens it. So choose to get ready today.

Following God through that door will lead to the best dream you could ever imagine for your life. You don’t want to miss it!
