EXCERPT

“Tell me what you want,” I demand, pulling her two wrists into one of my hands. I lift them above her head so I can feel her body on mine without our hands in the way.

“I want…” She pauses to swallow, and I don’t know why I need her to ask for it…but I do. I need to know that this is what she wants. That I’m the one she wants. “I want to have fun, to stop worrying and feeling guilty all the time just for being alive.”

That wasn’t exactly the response I was hoping for, but beggars can’t be choosers. “And how should we go about making that happen? Specifically,” I clarify, letting my lips rest just a few inches from hers. I can feel her breath on my mouth. “Tell me what I can do to help.”

Her little pink tongue swipes her lips, coming so close to my own I can practically taste her, and I nearly come undone right then and there. “You should kiss me.”

I move in closer, but only a tiny bit. “And why would I do that?”

Her voice is so low I have to lean in to hear her clearly. “Because you want to. Because I’ve been waiting for a very long time. Because you can.”

Her words fill me with heat and need. I want so much more than to kiss her. But I’m not going to get greedy here and risk losing her all over again. My plan to make her jealous earlier was just a ploy to get her to admit she still wants me because I still want her. I’m pretty positive I’ll always want her. So now this has to be the best damn kiss two people ever shared in the history of kissing because I need her to want it again and again.

Tension builds in my chest at the thought of finally kissing Layla Flaherty, and I’m a little afraid of screwing up her first kiss. But I owe it to her. It should’ve happened a long time ago.

“Someone’s overthinking things,” she whispers against my lips, and I twitch with anticipation and nostalgia.

It’s the exact phrase I used to use on her when she’d go off in her head. She remembers. Dammit, I’m losing control. I tighten my grip on her wrists and run my nose down her cheek. I place a soft kiss on her earlobe and feel her body sag forward as her legs buckle beneath her.

Using my other arm to hold her around the waist and keep her vertical, I whisper, “Here? Is this where you want me to kiss you?”

Her breath comes in quick gasps, and she shakes her head no. So I let my lips skim the side of her face and holy hell, she even tastes like peaches. And I should definitely not be thinking about tasting her, but a torrent of images unleashes itself. I know I’m gripping her too hard, but she doesn’t complain.

I press myself against her and place a chaste kiss on her cheek. “Here?” I ask, doing my best to feign innocence.

“Uh uh,” she groans, and I brush my face against hers until our lips are touching.

“Here?”

“Yes, please,” she says against my mouth, and I try to take it slow, I really do. But when her lips part, opening her to me, I’m done being gentle.

My tongue sweeps inside, desperate for hers. She’s tentative at first. Barely skimming her tongue against mine with sweet little licks. But I press harder and she matches me. Layla lets her teeth graze my lower lip and I groan. I release her wrists and she wraps her arms around my neck, raking her hands into my hair. Keeping my hand out from under her short dress is an exercise in torture. My body aches for release, but this is her first kiss. We have to stop here. For now.

A New Kinda Cowboy Town!

Book Description:

Ever since her parents passed away in a tragic car accident, Eden Cross has been living a quiet, stable and predictable life in inner Sydney – the total opposite of her carefree, relaxed, happy-go-lucky past. Her parents passing and the fact she’s an only child meant Eden was left with her best friend, Jules and Matt, her boyfriend of three years as her only family. That was until she discovered something about Matt that would turn her life upside down. Eden leaves Sydney in a hurry and begins an adventure that takes her across four Australian states before she lands in Pine Creek, Northern Territory.

Jackson Henley has lived in Pine Creek his entire life. He runs a massive cattle and cropping station with his twin brother, Jeremy, which they inherited when their parents retired. He’s had a bad experience with relationships courtesy of The Bitch – Dannika, so lately he’s preferred to play the field. That is, until he comes face to face with the stunning brunette beauty who’s behind the bar at the Cow and Calf. The problem is, she won’t tell him her name, she won’t give him the time of day, and she won’t give him a chance to prove himself.

What’s it going to take for Eden to give Jackson a chance? Does he have the patience to even bother fighting for her? How will he handle the competition?

In the end, will Jackson have what it takes to convince Eden to start living again, instead of just existing?

My Thoughts

4 Stars

When Eden stumbles upon Pine Crest, she knows the moment she steps into the town it is home. She meets Doreen the owner of the Cow and Calf and from that point on… She's hooked… Except for Jackson Hensley. She does everything in her power to resist the sparks between their touch and stay away from players like him.

I really enjoyed the storyline of this book. There's isn't an overpowering, alpha male. Instead he is a strong, cowboy, that all the women love. Jackson is full of surprises! Eden learns about herself and what she needs in life. I will have to say my fav character is her BFF Jules… She keeps it real and says what needs to be said.

Like I said, I enjoyed this story, the hot cowboy that is tall, dark, and hardworkin', but the thought of an Aussie Cowboy threw me for a loop. Never in a million years would I have thought about a cowboy in Australia… This is being said from a small town southern girl….but I guess there's a new kinda cowboy! It was a great read, especially is you want an Aussie cowboy!

I hope everyone gets their someday soon <3

20130726-144354.jpg

Book Description

Seventeen year old Katelyn Richards is a stronger person than anyone will ever know, and that is just the way she wants it. Behind her normal facade lies the reality of a broken home life. Thanks to her abusive mother, a string of deadbeat stepfathers, and an unsympathetic system, Katelyn has learned that the only one she can count on is herself. Her life’s mission has become to shield her nine year old brother, Kevin, and to give him the future that they both wish for. A life with no more abuse, no worries about where their next meal will come from, and no more wondering if they will have a roof over their heads.

When her mother moves them again, this time to a small town in Montana, Katelyn’s resolve is shaken when she meets Max, a cute boy from her new school, who gets a glimpse into her real world. Max slowly manages to break through Katelyn’s wall of distrust, stirring up feelings she never saw coming. Now with her world more complicated than she ever intended, Katelyn struggles with the decision to follow her heart into the arms of the first boy she has ever loved. A decision that could risk the promise she made to protect Kevin, and to give them the ‘someday soon’ that is so close within their grasp.

My Thoughts

Last night and today I took a break from my own writing, No Turning Back, to read a book I’ve had on my Kindle for FOREVER! I have 6 or more reviews to do, but I just needed a Tiffany King fix… So Wishing for Someday Soon…has been opened and read in less than 24 hours.

Wishing for Someday soon is about praying for a better life than the cards that life deals you. Someday soon life will be better.

Katelyn and her brother, Kevin have moved in and out of shelters, low income housing, lived out of a car and now a dumpy old trailer in a little bitty town. Their mom, Lucinda is a piece of work. She never pays bills, expects a hand out, and moves from man to man. It is beyond amazing how a woman like that can have two amazing kids!

Katelyn has always guarded herself from anyone and anything that might cause her as much heartache. Does Max really care for her or see her as an easy target? What happens when Katelyn is overwhelmed by people that care? Will she have to move again? Will her and Kevin find their someday soon? What happens when a community is for them instead of against them? This are exactly the thoughts I had while I was reading.

The characters in this story are strong both in feeling connected to them as we’ll as mentally/physically. I loved Max and his family and their ability to take chances… Max is your all american guy that is more than any parent could ever wish for their daughter. Old Man Wither is a man that stole my

This book was amazing and I loved the Harry Potter references! It just made it even more real!… Even though I know Tiffany King is like the Biggest Harry Potter fan ever! If you are looking for a young adult book that will have you wanting to kick a no good mama's tail, crying for girl and her brother that live a life that too many children in the country endure day in and out, and a love of a community that makes you feel like events just a reader you belong… Wishing for Someday Soon is it!

Book Description

What would you do if you were told that everything you had ever believed in and everything you had ever known, was a lie?

Elle’s life is altered forever after an unexpected phone call and an unwelcome visitor. Trying to put her life back together, Brax’s last words continue to echo through her mind. Why she is being followed and why is she suddenly in danger? The fact that Brax knew about it all and still left her alone, breaks her fragile heart all over again.

Brax will never forgive himself for leaving Elle at a time when she needed him the most, even if he believed it was the only way to protect her. As he makes his way back to her life, he is determined to win her back, regain her trust and help rebuild her for the second time. His return proves he is the same man, yet Elle sees in his eyes a haunted look she knows all too well.

When a confession leaves Elle reeling, her entire life unravels around her. She begins to understand that the people she trusts the most have put her in grave danger and the people who have been protecting her actually want to cause her harm.

Elle soon discovers that the old adage is true, you have to become lost before you can be found.

Excerpt

Brax

“Tell me how I can help you, Elle. What do you need?” I ask. I’m desperate now. I want her to feel comfortable; this is her home for god’s sake.

She lifts her head and looks at me. “I need you. Just you.”

“I’m not going anywhere, baby,” I reassure her as I move my mouth towards hers again. She parts her lips and tenderly kisses me back. This is going to be slow and gentle. I want her to know how much I love her, and I’m going to show it to her with my body.

I walk around to the side of the bed and lie her down in front of me, lying sideways across the mattress. I kneel down between her legs, grabbing her foot and pulling off her sneakers one by one. Kissing the instep of her foot, I graze her sole with my teeth, causing a shiver to travel up the entire length of her body. I lean forward to undo her jeans, carefully pulling them down, making sure to drag my fingers across her skin while I move them down her smooth legs. Once the jeans are off, I throw them to the floor and stand up, moving onto the bed and straddling her thighs while I lean over her. I can see her chest lifting and falling as she tries to control her breathing.

“You okay, sweetheart?”

“I will be.”

My Thoughts

Holy Freakin Cow Batman! OMG! I had another freakin’ heart attack! Not to long ago I was approached about reviewing Lost in Distraction … little did I know what I was in for… I mean I was on a roller coaster ride from the get go… totally sucked into the characters, plot, schemes, mystery, suspense, romance, lies, and anything else that could be thrown at me!… Needless to say, that I was at a total loss when Lost for You wasn’t out yet!

Again, Lost for You, Book #2 was exactly what I been expected on the intense level. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, all the loose ends came together, a few shockers -& I mean a few so be prepared! I fell in love with all the characters all over again.

I have to say that there is one part of the story that totally had me in the story.. and most people will be like really? WTH? … My fav part or let me say the part that is most vivid is when Brax is traveling from Atlanta to Charlotte… he seriously drove past my exit on I-85! :) I can totally see him in that 18-wheeler!!!

On a more serious note, there were points in the story that had me about to cry, beat the hell outta some folks, say awww that’s so sweet, feel a loss for someone very special, and at some points I felt like I had been ran over by a train cause I didn’t see that coming!

I honestly can’t wait for Lost #3, Shays story! I absolutely loved him in Lost #1 & #2… without Shay, Brax has no partner… and he plays a minor roll but yet a major roll at the same time!

Book Title: Death Dealer

Series Title & Book #: A Death Angel Novella—Book 1

Author: Ashley Robertson

Published: July 1, 2013

Genre: Adult/Paranormal/Romance

Book Blurb:

Death: a word Mia Baron was all too familiar with since the murder of her parents when she was a young girl. Her drive for vengeance was the reason she became a Death Dealer—a soul guide through the spirit realm—signing her life away in her own blood. Pain forged a concrete wall around her heart and no one or nothing would ever penetrate it…until she got what she desired most—revenge.

Deacon Gage craves justice for his own horrific tragedy that forced him into the same life Mia chose, with the same promise of vengeance dangling just out of reach. His expert training makes him an Elite—one of the few Death Dealers to ever achieve such a status—and no one can shift his focus from the blood he seeks.

But when the two are partnered for yet another job and a heart-shattering case rips open Mia’s heart, Deacon realizes he’s the only one who can save her…at a price that might be too much to pay: opening his heart to her. The clock is ticking and her life hangs on the balance of whether he can truly let go or will hold onto his desire for blood.

My Thoughts

4 Stars… by Chelly

Mia Baron and Deacon Gage have a lot in common.  They are partners, both bad-ass Death Dealers, meaning they are sent to free souls from human bodies and escort them to the Light or Dark Gates (which often involves battling horrifying demons), and they both took on these jobs seeking revenge on those who destroyed their families.  They want to be the ones to escort those souls to Hell.  When Mia gets her chance, Deacon is assigned to help with the job just in case Mia’s emotions get in the way of her finishing the assignment.  The two have worked together for years and have had nothing more than a friendship, but when they start noticing different feelings for each other, is it part of the bond or is something more developing?  When Mia’s life is hanging on the line, can the one who ruined her family be the one to help save her?  Can she move past her need for revenge and let love in?

This is the first time I’ve read anything by Ashley Robertson and I was blown away by her style of writing.  She has created a truly unique storyline, with loveable characters and exceptionally colorful and descriptive writing.  I give 4 stars only because I wanted more!  I knew this was a novella from the beginning, but I can’t help but wish it was drawn out over a full length novel.  When Mia got her chance for justice, even though it was a unique twist that I loved, I feel like it should’ve been more…something.  I don’t think she got the closure she was looking for.  And while the chemistry between Mia and Deacon was extremely HOT, it felt rushed.  Overall, I was sucked in to the world of the Death Dealer and I am looking forward to more…will Mia achieve Elite status like Deacon, possibly even become a Death Angel?  I’m hoping so!

Today’s guest is…. Dawn Pendleton

Excerpt from Broken Promises:

“So what did you want to talk about?”

She paused. “Well, there’s no easy way to say this, Luke.”

“Then just say it, Mallory. We’ve known each other too long to get tongue-tied.”

“You’re right. Last night, I brought you home and you mentioned Jason again. I even managed to get you to tell me how you knew about him. I’m sorry I told you about him after I’d been drinking the other night.”

“What, or rather, who, you do in Boston is your business, not mine,” I muttered.

“Don’t be an ass. I’m apologizing, especially if I gave you the impression I was still seeing him. I’m not.”

I tried to calm my rapidly beating heart. Did that mean she was single?

She waited for my response.

I wanted to sound nonchalant, but it came off sarcastic. The problem was, I was entirely too excited to hear she wasn’t seeing someone than I should have been.

“Good for you,” I said.

She seemed to need to spell it out. “I’m single.”

I sucked in a breath as she moved closer to me in the kitchen.

She trailed her delicate hand down my chest to the opening of my jeans. “It is good for me, but it’s also good for you.”

I swallowed hard. “What do you want from me?” I whispered, terrified of the answer.

“Just you, Luke. I’ve always wanted you,” she said slowly.

She put her hands around my neck and pulled me toward her. I knew, long before our lips touched, that she was going to break my heart again. But the knowledge didn’t stop me from wrapping my arms around her waist. Our bodies melded together as I put my lips on hers. She sighed and tightened her hands around my neck.

My Thoughts

I have been anxiously awaiting Undescribable for months now… Thanks to getting to know Shantel and hosting her blog tour. I have to say for a debut novel… It is on fire…like smoking, blazing, gonna take 25 firetrucks to put out those flames…and that’s putting it lightly ;)

Samantha Hall is one strong young lady, she is independent and has started fresh. What she doesn’t know is how much her life can change with someone’s wrong decisions… for the better.

Slade is a lawyer by day and cocky playboy by night. He doesn’t want a relationship with a woman… That’s just not necessary…. Until he hears an angels voice on the phone… His life is forever changed in that moment. I honestly felt like a fly on the wall during that moment within the book… His face had to have been priceless! (At least it was in my mind!)

One aspect of this book I

This book is H-O-T!… And it starts out that way. Shantel has done a phenomenal job at describing every detail within the storyline. You can picture exactly what is going on… Locations, dress, people, background noises, and even the most minor detail doesn’t go unnoticed. She makes you feel as if you are part of the story… Sitting back and watching.

Like I said before, this book is on fire, hot, and will leave you wanting more. There were multiple times while reading…. I was thinking hot damn!!! These two characters are perfect for each other… If they will not worry about their hearts breaking into a million pieces.

Don’t think that this book is just a hot, steamy romance… it’s not… It has a storyline that is real, it will have your heart breaking, twisting, and screaming because you can truly understand Samantha… as well, as how much someone can love another wholeheartedly… And when it breaks it’s undescribable!

I can only keep my fingers cross that this story doesn’t end here… I have to know what happens in the next chapter for Slade & Samantha… Or maybe Josh & Courtney!! Either way I want more!

Cover Reveal —Shelf Life by Stephanie Lawton—

SHELF LIFE by STEPHANIE LAWTON
Paperback
Expected publication: December 2013 by IJP Press

It’s impossible to focus on college biology when your family believes doomsday is imminent and the government is out to get you.

All Pete Wilson’s ever wanted is to become a veterinarian, but those dreams are going up in flames. Commuting to an urban college and helping his parents with their apocalyptic prepper crap is more than he can handle.

Worse, Pete’s asshole neighbor is stirring up trouble, his family’s stockpile has been destroyed and farm animals are turning up dead.

Lindsey Linger is the tomboy sister of his best friend. Now a sexy spitfire, she and Pete are liable to set the barn ablaze as their romance finally heats up. But she’s hiding a terrible secret, and rural life isn’t all bonfires and hayloft romps. That becomes clear one icy winter night when the survival of everyone Pete loves hangs in the balance.

Can Pete be the hero they need, or will this be the end of the world as he knows it?

After collecting a couple English degrees in the Midwest and learning more about agriculture and farming than she ever wanted to know, Stephanie Lawton suddenly awoke in the deepest reaches of the Deep South. Culture shock inspired her to write about Mobile, Alabama, her adopted city, and all the ways Southern culture, history and attitudes seduce the unsuspecting.

A lover of all things gothic, she can often be spotted photographing old cemeteries, historic buildings and, ironically, the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast. She also has a tendency to psychoanalyze people, which comes in handy when creating character profiles.
