My Thoughts
I have had The Forgotten Ones on my TBR list since like forever ago! I just
The Forgotten Ones is a story of putting others first to the point that you have to put your entire life on hold. Allison has never put herself first. In fact, she goes to school, takes care of her Mom, and has no life, except when her bff next door forces her to have a little fun.
When her father walks back into her life, she is beyond pissed, but when she realizes there is more to their story she gives him a chance to help her Mom.
The story of her parents is of a love of a forgotten group of people. Allison doesn’t know whether to believe her father or not. The story of the Danaan people is very much outta this world. I have to say that when black birds kept showing up in my yard as I was reading this book… it kinda wigged me out! 
I absolutely loved this story, but really wanted to know more about Allison and Ethan. I guess I will have to wait until book #2!!! I just wanted to see into their future as well as her parents.
The only complaint I had was just trying to follow all the Irish names. Me and my Southern self just had a hard time with that. 
I finally just read them like I thought they should be (there is a pronunciation guide in the back) and went on with the story. Once I did that, it was not problem to stay with the story.
So if you are looking for a new type of paranormal story that is not vampires, werewolves, angels or demons this the book for you!!!!

Jack’s lips were warm and soft next to the rough skin of his chin, and I drew closer to him like a magnet, needing to press my body, my skin, against his. But there were two layers of fabric between us, and I became aware of the cool press of his wet t-shirt.
“You need to take this off,” I managed. My voice sounded raspy to my own ears as I made to lift the fabric.
He let go of me and reached behind his neck. Gathering a handful of shirt, he peeled it forward over his head.
My breath left me as I came face to chest with his perfectly sculpted body. The firelight played across his skin and his flexed abdominal muscles as he leaned back on his haunches slightly to lay the shirt out by the fire.
Without thinking, I brought the flat of my hand up to the center of his chest below his collarbone. His skin was cool to the touch and smooth.
He stilled where he was, leaning slightly away from me on his knees and brought his eyes to mine.
I very slowly ran my palm down over the ridges and planes of his chest, pausing for a moment when I noticed the hard beat of his heart. His eyes got darker and broodier as my hand continued it’s slow journey downward. His breathing changed, as did my own in response. My eyes dropped to follow my hand as it reached the belt buckle of his black jeans.
“You should take these off, too.” My words came out as a whisper.

My Thoughts
I am all about anything that involves love, romance, and paranormal! This book has every bit of that! I was super excited when I give the awesome opportunity to ARC Mel Ballew’s debut novel, Shattered Into Beautiful. There were some things that occurred that made my review later than I wanted, and Mel was so kind to tell me to not worry about it!
Sylver is a witch and hasn’t ascended yet. She knows it coming, and that she has a ton of powers coming her way. She also knows that Vampires are a no no! She has an awesome support system of her Gran, Jay, and Lyll.
Then there is Zander, the “No No” that she is supposed to stay clear. He her better half; the balance to her light. He’s everything you dream a vampire should be… oh and those Emerald eyes! It amazed me at how much Zander could feel for Sylver without being near her. He’s like her knight with fangs instead of shining armour!
There are a lot of different turns of events writing this novel. Each are extremely important to the plot of the story, how everyone is intertwined, and holy crap at the surprise you get over half way threw! Dang, and I that family drama is better than some of those shows on TV! It’s light, dark, serious, powerful, and calls on all elements of Earth.
Mel Ballew has done a fantastic job on her debut novel. It is full of paranormal, love, fear, magick, vampires, dark side, light, spells, fangs, anxiety,becoming who are meant to be, fulfilling your destiny, reuniting with your past, and a cliffhanger at the end! Oh, and I absolutely love the quotes at the beginning of each chapter!!! I couldn’t wait to see if they were a Mel quote or just someone else! I

Mel Ballew resides in rural Pennsylvania with her husband and daughter, along with their two adorable cats.
An avid reader, she has always had an equal passion for writing and has written her entire life, to date. Her mother initially birthed, inspired, and encouraged these loves. The two often discussed writing together but unfortunately, that dream never came to fruition.
Years later, this happened, that happened—life happened.
She stepped away from writing to place more focus on being wife and a full-time mom. Today, she would not have changed a thing. The day her daughter was born became the first day she realized a significant rhythm to her heart was also born. Her daughter, now preparing to go off to college, has grown into a beautiful and responsible young adult.
A twisted turn of events in September 2009 left Mel unable to work outside of the home.
