Spring Training Book Blast!

He’s got his eye on the ball, but his sights are set on her.

For baseball superstar Garrett Donovan, his contract with the New York Empire baseball team meant he’d finally have the means to secure a future for his family. He should focus on that…not on the sassy, beautiful Jessa Montgomery — or what she looks like naked. Getting involved with the daughter of the Empire’s owner would be career suicide. Jessa is a distraction he can’t afford.

Her father had warned her never to get involved with his athletes, so his request that she keep an eye on his new star player came straight out of left field. The last thing Jessa needs is another spoiled, egotistical ball player to deal with. But Garrett is none of those things. His no-nonsense attitude and smooth Southern charm make her blood burn and her knees weak. Giving into temptation, she is consumed by the pleasure she finds in Garrett’s arms.

Jessa wants to protect his career. Garrett won’t let anything get in the way of their passion.

A passion that could cost him everything.

Strawberries.
You’re such a dumbass.
What the hell was he thinking? If there was one thing every baseball player knew, it was that you didn’t fuck with the owner’s daughter. Ever.
And there he was … talking goddamned condoms and telling her she’d made him hungry.
Jesus Christ.
Garrett scrubbed his hand down his face. He’d heard about the beautiful Jessa Montgomery. From what he’d seen just now, she’d earned every ounce of praise. She was a total knockout. Her hair was a gorgeous shade of blonde and copper, long enough to drape over her breasts. Breasts that weren’t overly large, but perfect to fill his hands.
And her eyes. Garrett bit back a moan. Her eyes were mesmerizing. Not quite blue, not quite green.
But when she started rattling off stats with that voice as smooth as honey, sweet mercy, he’d gone rock hard. Which was damned uncomfortable when his junk was crammed into a protective cup.
Not even his mother could rattle off stats like that and know what they meant. The fact that Jessa understood the game he loved? Fucking. Sexy.
Garrett reached down to adjust himself, hoping to get some relief from the pinch currently nagging his balls.
Two weeks. He’d better chill the fuck out if he was going to survive two weeks with Jessa. Garrett respected the hell out of TJ Montgomery. It was rare for TJ to take a personal interest to the extent he had with him. He still hadn’t figured that one out, but Garrett liked the man. And he needed this job. He had his mom and Leah to worry about. And now little Georgia Grace.
His dad had died years ago, and now that his brother-in-law was gone, Garrett was all they had. The family farm in Mississippi had been his parents’ dream, and Garrett worked hard to make sure it would continue to provide for them. But there was only so much he could do by himself.
Baseball was his ticket to securing a future for his family. He couldn’t afford to screw that up. He had no business thinking about strawberries and wondering if Jessa’s nipples would taste the same as she smelled.
Shit.
Garrett made his way onto the field. He didn’t know what she was getting all bent out of shape about anyway. Even being a few hours later than he’d scheduled, he was still two days early for team practice. If anything, he should be offended about the crack she’d made about him wearing protection. As if he was some kind of man whore.
Ah, if only he’d had that kind of time to waste.
He scanned the growing crowd. He smiled and waved to the fans calling his name. He took in the excitement like the ground soaked up the sun, giving himself a moment to revel in the fact that he was here. All the years of hard work and sacrifice had finally paid off.
“Hey, Donovan!” Garrett turned to see the batting coach signaling him over. “You planning to stand around all day, or you gonna show these folks whatcha got?”
He caught sight of Jessa, already sitting in the first row with her bare feet propped up on the rail. He couldn’t resist stretching his neck to check out her long, lean legs. He cursed as she eased out of the short-sleeved button down, leaving her in a tight top with tiny straps. He wondered how easily those straps would snap if he wrapped his hands around them and tugged.
As if she sensed him watching, her gaze locked on him. Her smile was almost apologetic. Then she laughed and waved her clipboard — her demand for him to get busy.
“Donovan!”
Garrett grabbed his bat and sighed. It was going to be a very long two weeks.

Wilson Mooney needs to hurry up and turn 18! A review: Wilson Mooney, Almost Eighteen

wilson

Synopsis

Abandoned by her mother at the vulnerable age of eight; only to be shipped off to a boarding school in Northern California by her grandparents, Wilson Mooney, is one girl who knows what it’s like to have to grow up way too fast. Now, a month away from turning eighteen and orphaned by the death of her grandparents; she knows exactly what she wants. All it takes is a spontaneous ski trip with her narcissistic roommate to Colorado to make it a reality. When “he” happens to show up at a party in Aspen, Wilson becomes tangled in the powerful emotions of first love, sexual inexperience, and society’s principles. She lives a whirlwind weekend filled with newly discovered boundaries, calloused aches for a family she never had, and all the pressures of keeping their weekend together a secret.

My Thoughts

Ohmgeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!  I have had the honor or reviewing Wilson Mooney, Almost Eighteen.  Holy freakin’ cow!  Okay now that I have that out of my system….

I have had this on my to read list, but have been swamped with my full time job, tours Hardcover Therapy is hosting, and just life in general.  Now that school is out, I brought this book to the top of the list!  Needless to say, I read it in less than 24 hours at every moment I had free! (I mean at the softball field while working the concession stand!)

Gretchen de la O does an awesome job of telling a story of a love that is forbidden.  I will say that I just kept waiting for Wilson to wake up and this all be a dream… because this would never happen in real life… or maybe if it did, the consequences would outweigh the risk.  In fact, I still keep thinking this relationship is too good to be true!  There is NO way that this happens! ;)

This book has everything you want in a hot romance that is defiantly  off limits!  I have to say that Wilson has been though a lot in her life, but she also isn’t afraid to go after what she wants and as long as she feels safe.  When Wilson and “he” finally get together it makes you wanna pick your mouth up off the floor because you CAN’T believe that just happened!  There are also 2 other guys that play into her love life.  I honestly kept thinking that Wayne or Nick were going to beat “he” hands down!

I refuse to tell you who “he” is because that totally will give too much away.  I also love the fact that even though this relationship should happen due to one little technicality, “he” is a perfect gentleman.

Joanie, Wilson’s BFF, is the best BFF ever!  She is a true friend that always has Wilson’s back, reads her like a book, can fill in her sentences, keeps a secret, and is 100% trustworthy.  Cindy, Wilson’s roommate, is a B****!  She has so many issues I truly felt sorry for her for about lets say … 2 seconds!  I will have to say that if it wasn’t for her invitation, who know’s if this relationship would have happened?

So are you totally curious about what in the heck is going on here?  Who is “he”?  Why is “he” off limits?  What is so forbidden?  Or if you have asked yourself, is she named after a volleyball?  Then it’s time to 1-click Wilson Mooney, Almost Eighteen RIGHT now!  I easily give this off limits romance a 4 star rating easily!

Want to join the Triple M Motorcycle Club and get to know the hot, bad boy bikers before book two comes out? The first book is only 99 cents right now, and we’ve got less than two weeks to go before the journey continues.

“Austin Sparks crushes me against the pool table with his hips, the roughness of his jeans rubbing against the smoothness of my thighs as he pushes up my skirt with his warm hands.

‘Get ready for this, beautiful.’ “

Twenty-one year old Amy Cross’s idea of a hot Saturday night is curling up with her favorite book boyfriend and secretly sneaking a bottle of her mother’s wine. That is, until she meets Austin Sparks, the biker boy with a past that burns like fire and a gaze she can’t look away from. Without knowing what she’s doing or why she’s doing it, Amy ends up on the road with Austin traveling from one city to another while learning things she’s only ever read about in romance novels.

At first it seems like Austin is Amy’s fantasy come true, but as their journey progresses, she starts to sense that Austin is running away from something. Amy knows that she’ll do whatever it takes to help him find himself. What she doesn’t expect is that she’ll lose herself in the process and how good it will feel to be free.

LOSING ME, FINDING YOU EXCERPT:

?Take ‘em off. This is your next lesson. If you don’t wear a skirt, be prepared to take off your pants. Come on, sugar, let’s get to it. We’ve gotta hurry before somebody drives by and sees us.?

?You’re serious?? I ask him, getting chills and a gut wrenching belly ache. Oh God, yes. I can’t believe I waited twenty-one years for this feeling. It’s incredible.

?As a heart attack,? Austin says, taking a drag on his cigarette and tossing it to the ground, so he can smash it under his boot. I nibble my lip for a moment and then start to unbutton my jeans. Austin’s eyes follow the motion and narrow when I pause with the zipper halfway down.

?Take off your shirt,? I command him. I want to see what’s under there. Three times we’ve had sex and not once have I gotten to see his chest and belly. He grins at me and obliges, tearing the black fabric off and tossing it down alongside his vest.

Austin is ? Well, God, Austin is ripped. He’s tight and muscular and I can see every muscle in his belly as clear as day. His skin stretches hot and slick over the firmness of his chest and stomach, dipping into his pants with a sprinkle of sandy hair. Above his pecs, he’s got another skull tattoo surrounded by roses and on either side, a gun pointing inwards. Sweat glides across the colorful piece of art and gets caught between his muscles, sliding down and soaking into the waistband of his jeans.

I practically tear my boots and pants off in my frenzy to touch him. I can’t wait.

?Panties,? he commands me, and I pause. Being pants-less in the middle of the road is one thing, but being pantie-less is quite another altogether.

?Austin ? ? He grins at me and reaches down, unzipping his own pants. My gaze follows his hands involuntarily, mesmerizing me.

?Better hurry before somebody comes along and we get interrupted.?

Putting one foot in front of the other, she climbs up from the bottom of a bottle. Even with all her progress, Stella walks through life unfeeling, numb. Defiant, she sends out warning signals for the world to keep away. But, is that what she really wants?

With the steadfast help of a few tight knit friends, she gradually begins to feel again. She starts to savor the flavor of food again; lets herself notice how the handsome bartender glances at her. Still, after allowing herself a fling, she wonders if she will ever be able to let go of her shattered past, fully enjoy the present, or get over what she thought would be her perfect future and with the man who destroyed her heart.

Excerpt

It had been a few weeks before classes started, her freshman year of college. She was enjoying a rare two-day break from softball practice. She and some teammates had gotten to the pool early that day and she had been dozing off for several hours, when she heard male voices. She looked up and saw him. He took her breath away without even trying. Mentally, she ran through a checklist of her appearance; not a great bikini, but she had shaved everywhere. She was wearing an older seersucker bikini, but it gave her boobs a nice lift.

Stella closed her eyes again, pretending to sleep. Listening to their conversation for a while, she realized that they were on the baseball team. She sat up, squeezed some sunscreen out of the bottle, stood up, and applied it seductively. Her black hair hung loose down past the string of her bikini top, so she wrapped it around in a messy bun. She rubbed more sunscreen on her back, awkwardly arching her back to reach the middle. Cassie, the first baseman on her softball team, giggled at the provocative show Stella was putting on for the boys. Stella winked at her.

The girls hadn’t brought any beer to the pool, but they had plenty of vodka. Stella drank down the rest of her drink and made herself another. She applied lip balm, slowly. The entire process took about five minutes, but the conversation between the guys stopped. As Stella lay back down on her stomach, she reached up and untied the back string of her bikini. Smiling, she turned her head to face Cassie. Cassie mouthed, “You’re bad…” Stella nodded and then closed her eyes.

She felt a shadow across her back a few minutes later. Stella didn’t open her eyes, but said, “Why is someone blocking my sun? I’m trying to rid myself of my farmer’s tan.”

Cassie snorted, “That’s not going to happen, Stella.” All the softball players had horrible tan lines. Stella’s arms looked like leather, but her stomach and chest were white as porcelain, as were her feet. It was heinous. The players’ legs looked like they were wearing white shorts all the time.

“I don’t know, I think it’s kinda sexy. Like I know what you look like naked,” Stella heard in a slow, sexy southern drawl. Her eyes popped open and she found herself staring at the guy with the drawl. One of the best-looking guys she’d ever seen in person. His hair was cut short and looked sandy blond in the sun. He had blue eyes and an actual six-pack. Stella had never seen a guy with a six-pack in person before, and it made her want to touch him. She laughed, noticing that he had the same farmer’s tan that she and the softball players sported.

Stella cocked her head to the side and just looked at him.

“What?” Six-pack asked.

“I’m just following suit and picturing you naked.” She said, then closed her eyes.

“Me too.” Cassie said with a giggle.

“Now I am too,” one of his friends piped up loudly. “Damn it. Someone help me get that image out of my mind.”

Six-pack leaned down to whisper into her ear, “I think you missed a spot.” His fingers grazed the small of her back, just above her bikini bottoms, and her body tensed instantaneously at the spark she felt. Sexual chemistry crackled between them.

Stella used her sweetest voice, “Oh, really?  Could you get it for me?”

“Damn right I can.” He leaned over to grab the lotion, but she got to it first.

“Oh, I was talking to Cassie.” She threw the bottle to Cassie. “Thanks, though.”

Cassie snorted again, “It looks fine to me.” Cassie yelled to the other guys, “Ya’ll got any beer over there you can share?”

“Of course,” one of the guys replied. Cassie got up, sauntered over to the baseball players, grabbed a beer out of their cooler, and sat down with them.

“Ya’ll play ball?”

Stella overheard the conversation and was interested. These were all baseball players and seemed to be pretty cool. Six-Pack’s name was Jamie, he was a sophomore. He was a pitcher. Confidence exuded from him and he seemed to be pretty smart and funny. Those were three mandatory traits for Stella before she would even look at a guy. She never fell for the type of guy who looked good, but annoyed the shit out of her as soon as he opened his mouth.

“Stella, you want a beer?” Cassie called.

“Sure.” Stella turned just as Cassie threw the beer at her. She had two options, she could sit up and catch it, showing everyone her boobs, or the beer was going to hit her… somewhere.

“Fuck,” she called out as she rolled over to dodge the beer coming at her face. She fell off the chair, but managed to keep her hands covering her nipples. For a moment everyone was quiet. Then all of the occupants of the pool erupted in laughter. Stella turned forty shades of red and tried to figure out how to get up gracefully. Realizing there was no way to cover her nipples, get up, and grab her bikini top with only two hands, she gave up. Stella stood up, grabbed her bikini top, and with her chin raised walked to the bathroom, showing everyone all she had.

Several hours later everyone was good and drunk, playing truth or dare, and it was Stella’s turn. She picked dare.
“Kiss me,” Jamie said, leaning back in a lounge chair with a smug smile on his face.
Stella got up from where she was sitting and leaned over him. She whispered in his ear, lips grazing his lobe, “You may regret this dare.” Stella kissed his neck, which made him tip his head back. She slowly kissed his top lip. He groaned, and she went for the kill parting his lips with hers. All of a sudden his arms wrapped around her, pulling her on top of him in the chair. She forgot where she was, and that they had an audience until she heard someone clear their throat.
Stella ripped her lips away from Jamie’s and took a long breath. She put her fingers to her mouth, and looked into Jamie’s eyes. Holy fuck, she thought. There’s no going back from that.
Jamie’s arms still wrapped around her, he whispered, “I think you may be right.” Stella thought for a minute he had read her thoughts. Then he said, “Best regret ever.”
Stella smiled. She pulled herself out of his arms, separating their bodies. Suddenly she felt too drunk, too high on the feeling she got from kissing this guy she just met, and too naked. She walked over to where her bag was and checked her phone. She felt arms wrap around her again.
“You need to come with me. NOW.” His lips whispered in her ear.
“And why’s that?” Stella shivered and turned around so that she could look in his eyes.
“You’re pretty much naked and I need to be the only one looking at you.” He reached up and rubbed his thumb down her jaw line. “I need to kiss you, more.”
If she hadn’t been drunk, she wouldn’t have gone home with him. But she wasdrunk, and she followed him home. Immediately.

A Bachelor’s Special Recipe

Bachelor's-Special-CW-1600
A bit about Bachelor’s Special

Jill Adgate wants three things from life: a successful catering business, a family, and the love of an exceptional man. What she has is no job, a mounting pile of bills, and her outspoken best friend—who sets her up on a blind date with the man who inadvertently ruined Jill’s life.
Chet Castle is a businessman who has everything, except the ability to trust. Burned by a money-hungry fiancée, he refuses to get involved in any relationship that has a shelf life longer than a head of lettuce.

My Thoughts

I read every single word of Bachelor’s Special in one night!  It took me a minute to follow what happened in the restaurant, but once I did I was hooked… that could possible be to a glass of wine or two before reading (hehehe)  No, really, it was a cute read and very hot at times.

The relationship between Chet and Jill is hot from the get go.  I mean he walks in and sees her and kisses her to make her toes curl!  When they are set up on a blind date, Jill hopes that Chet will not recognize her, but of course he does.  He doesn’t want to let her go so he makes a deal with her… and NO it’s not a Fifty Shades kinda deal either!

The book makes for a fun read with ups, downs, a bitch names Gina, family, friendship, crossing the friendship line,  trusting others or deciding if you can, heartache, love, and a bachelor’s special.

You find out early on what a bachelor’s special is in the book… I have to say that was the cutest thing I ever heard!  Let alone, what Jill decides to do with that recipe :)   If you want a great book with mature characters, a recipe for hot romance that will keep you wanting more, then this is the book for you.  I give it 4.5 stars hands down!  You will not be disappointed!

Excerpt

Her body hummed as his smile wavered. Although he wore

sunglasses, she’d bet her last dollar his gaze swept across her chest,

lingering on the betrayal of her pert nipples pushing against the

fabric of her suit.

Until this moment, shyness had never been a trait she

possessed. Air stalled in her lungs, her palms grew sweaty, and

she itched to cover herself with a towel. Even though her replica

vintage swimsuit hid more than most sets of women’s underwear,

she felt too exposed. She turned to the side slightly and folded her

legs up. Not that it helped, but it made her feel a bit less exposed.

Chet slid his feet from his sandals, brushing a hand through

his hair. The heat from the sun wasn’t the only thing scorching her

skin. She trickled several droplets of water over her arms, but she

couldn’t drag her focus from his toned flesh.

Jill soaked in his ripped abs and the obvious package of

goodies covered by his brown swimsuit—the same sexy brown as

his hair. Damn, did a man have a right to fill out a pair of swimming

trunks like that? Flecks of hair, just enough to give him a manly

appeal, covered the etched muscles of his long, tan legs.

She licked her lips, hoping she could still speak. “Do you want

some privacy?” Yes, say yes. She needed an excuse to make an

escape without coming off like someone desperate to be making

an exit.

Hell no, he didn’t want privacy. Through the shield of his sunglasses,

he inspected her body from the tips of her pink-painted toenails

to the top of her brightly flowered swimming cap. Did people still

actually wear those things? “No, you look comfortable. Stay and

enjoy the day.”

“Oh…are you sure?”

“Sure.”

Amazed at his own ability to talk without his tongue hitting

the cement, Chet turned to throw his towel and sunglasses on a

nearby lounge chair. Damn.

The red and white polka-dot halter-style suit featured a tight

bodice, but her slender hips and shapely thighs hiding beneath

a matching skirt grabbed his attention until all oxygen left his

blood. Even showing less skin than the average girl on the beach,

she far exceeded sexy and alluring.

Get a grip, Castle. She’s off limits, no matter how delectable.

He turned and stepped onto the diving board. He bounced

along the surface as he made his way over the water. When he

looked at Jill’s bathing cap covering her head, he held back his

grin. The neon rubber flowers reminded him of something his

grandmother would’ve worn, but there the similarity ended.

Everything beneath that cap was far from making him think of

Grandma.

My Thoughts

Sophie Monroe never ceases to amaze me with her books! From the first time I got to ARC Second Chance Romance I have been a HUGE fan! Again with Battlescares and now Afflicted I love her books even more!

Afflicted is the story of Blake Potter. He isn’t your typical rock star. He’s not a love ‘em & leave ‘em kinda guy…. well he use to not be. He is a good guy that has had his heart broken, but yet still life goes on.

Piper is a fiery red head that Blake has been eying. There’s a crazy ex-boyfriend or boyfriend in and out of the picture. Honestly, my

Blake and Piper are hot together, and I mean volcano erupting or FIRE for each other hot! They can’t keep their hands off each other and when they are being stubborn as hell they are miserable!

The biggest questions that they face is will they survive? Will Piper choose the crazy ex-boyfriend? How does the past keep interfering with the future?

Afflicted is a hot and steamy read will have you begging for Conflicted, Derek’s story! I have to say that I am a die hard country music fan, but when it comes to books I don’t care if they are country, rock, R&B, or Rap… just give me a beat and a love story … & I’m hooked!

Tasting Never, a New Adult Novel Recommended for Ages 18 and Up

Never say Never Trilogy: Book One.  Book Two, Finding Never, and Book Three, Keeping Never, are both available now!

“Never Ross wants to be loved.

It’s that simple, but it’s not that easy.”

Never is a girl with a broken soul who doesn’t date nice guys and can’t seem to go to bed at night without crying herself to sleep.  She doesn’t need any complications in her life, especially not when they’re attached to a man that could be her emotional twin.

Ty McCabe can’t stand Never the first time he meets her.  He’s aware that the feeling’s mutual and the two don’t think they’ll ever see each other again, but when fate takes a hand and puts them both in the wrong place at the wrong time, Ty and Never form a tentative friendship that opens the door on their dark sides and shows them what it’s like to live in the light.

“Sometimes, the only way to go forward, is to take a few, careful steps back.”

TASTING NEVER EXCERPT:

Ty’s hot mouth is on my neck, and I find myself taking short, sharp, little breaths as I press my shaking hands to his chest.  If I sleep with him again, I’ll be making the biggest mistake of my life.  He’s the first real friend I’ve ever had, and I don’t want to cheapen the feelings that are simmering between us.  We made that mistake once before, and we survived.  We’ve been through a lot since then, and I know that if I lose him now, I will never be whole again.  Ty is my other half, lover or no, and just being around him is enough for me.

?Ty,? I say, trying my best to sound stern.  Instead, my voice comes out like a butterfly, flutters against Ty’s hair and swirls it gently against my lips.  I moan and find that my fingers are now curled in the fabric of his T-shirt.

?Never,? he says back to me, the word like fire against my skin.  In those two syllables, I hear how he feels about me.  He thinks he’s in love.  Ty McCabe thinks he’s in love with me.  He doesn’t say it aloud, but I can tell.  Sex isn’t the best way for me to show my feelings; I’ve abused it for far too long that it has somehow lost some of its meaning.  I try to tell Ty this, but I can’t speak with his lips on my throat and his hand sliding across the nape of my neck.

I run my own hands down his chest and put them beneath his shirt, on the hard plane of his belly.  His muscles contract as I press my fingers into them, touching, feeling, absorbing the man, the complication, that is Ty McCabe.  All the while, my mind is racing in circles trying to talk me out of this.

?Kiss me,? Ty says and it’s not a question, it’s a request, albeit a gentle one.  His voice is softer than I’ve ever heard it.  His words are naked, stripped of all the bullshit that’s happened to him, all of the horrible things that mirror my own life.  Ty and I are like twins, like two halves of the same whole.  They say that opposites attract, but Ty and I are very much the same and the attraction between us burns brighter than the sun.  ?Kiss me,? he says again and I do.
