“Oomph,” I grunted into a hard chest as warm hands grasped my arms to steady me. I took a deep breath and a woodsy scent that was somehow both spicy and a little bit sweet hit my nose. I didn’t think I’d ever met a guy who smelled this good before.

“You okay?” a deep voice murmured.

“Yes,” I whispered as I looked up into green eyes, my hands resting against his chest.

“Good. Wouldn’t want to start my night off by mowing down defenseless women, now would I?” he asked as I moved away.

I couldn’t help the laugh that bubbled up at that since I’m the one who ran into him. “No, we certainly wouldn’t,” I said as I stepped into the elevator.

Casey’s Thoughts

Okay, so I’m just going to put it out there.  The moment I realized that there would be more Maddox’s I couldn’t contain myself.  Now that I’ve said that, let me say it took me two weeks to pick up Beautiful Oblivion to read it.  Not because I didn’t want to, but because I knew the moment I did my world would stop until the last page was read, and I’m so glad I waited until this weekend.  IT. WAS. AMAZING!

Cami is a bartender at the Red, and has a boyfriend, TJ, that pretty much doesn’t put her first.  Cami is an extremely independent young lady.  She’s a hard worker and believes in her family even though it’s not the best situation.  That all changes when Trenton Maddox makes himself a permanent statue in her life.

Trenton Maddox is just as badass as Travis and the rest of the Maddox brothers.  He’s ready to throw down at any moment, but when it comes to something he claims as his, he doesn’t give up very easy.  One difference I discovered in Trenton was his ability to not waste a moment with Cami.  When he knew that things were no longer “friends,” he jumped at the chance to be with her even though it made thing complicated.

Beautiful Oblivion is a story that made me fall in love once again with a Maddox brother even though Travis is my permanent book boyfriend.  There is just something beyond their hard exterior that makes you fall harder and harder for them.

Beautiful Oblivion not only tells you the story of Cami and Trenton, but it also gives insight into Travis and Abby’s lives as well.  I LOVED how Jamie would show another side of what people saw as were reading Beautiful Disaster.  It made them even more real.

I’m a firm believer that when you have a great story you never want it to end, and Jamie has done an amazing job in keeping these characters very much alive.  I can’t wait to see what’s next for the next Maddox brother!  Oh, and did I mention, the ending will leave you speechless!

“Love wasn’t planned, it wasn’t a conscious decision, and it sure as shit couldn’t be  made up.”

Wow! What a book hangover!  Seriously, I finished last night and I loved it.  Beautifully Done is the story of Asher.  He is every mothers nightmare for their daughter.  Not that he’s a bad guy.  In fact, he’s a very genunine, hardworking, and puts everyone else first.  His only downfall is that he’s not a one woman kinda man.

If you’ve read Beautifully Awake, you understand what the characters have been through with the death of their dear friend, Kimi, but if you’re like me I had an OMG- I’m gonna kill that f***** moment when I realized why Tali really left.

Needless to say, she’s back and sparks fly for Asher and her, but not without a little pain, excitment, realizations, and a new way of life.

Within Beautifully Done, Asher has to let go of helping others and find himself again.  I know for a fact that if I would have been in his situation, I would have done the same.

Talia on the other hand is a rare jewel.  She’s dealt a bad hand, but what happens within these pages will break your heart.  I wanted to hold her and tell her it would be okay.  As you read, you will realize she’s the backbone.  She sees the light at the end and goes for it.

“Tragic, nah.  that’s a cop-out for when you don’t have enough story to fill the pages.  We filled novels…”

I loved this story, but I will have to say the Epilogue brought all my emotions to the front.  Even just thinking about it my eyes well up with tears.  Riley Mackenzie do a awesome will filling in every gap and making a complete story: past, present, and future!

Beautifully Done is a phenomenal story that will make you smile, know that there are good people out there, and will have you cheering for Asher and Talia!  They deserve to be happy… together!

Yep. That’s an “s.” There are two of us!

We’re East coast girls separated by Long Island Sound who met in Physician Assistant School and have been besties ever since. We can safely say that thirteen miles of water does not get in the way because we talk or text, no exaggeration, at least 150 times a day. No, really, we do—about everything and nothing. Shockingly, we never (we mean never) run out of things to say. Umm, ever. We definitely laugh A LOT and we’re a tad sarcastic. And if we’re being totally honest, one or two people might have, on occasion, used our names and ‘dramatic’ in the same sentence. But it’s hard to trust the sources since they married us.

It only took twelve years, two husbands, five kids, two dogs, and a two-week vacation in Cape Cod later to decide the romance world needed a splash of medicine. Write what you know.

So you can easily find us at 4 o’clock on Bank Street beach with a glass of cold Prosecco brainstorming. And guaranteed if we bump into you, literally, it’s only because our iPhones are glued to our hands (totally out of our control) either writing or editing our next novel (and yes, it is possible to do from your iPhone, we mastered it … damn those straight quotations).

When we are not working on our book or reading the latest angsty romance on our kindles, you basically name it and we have it going on. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, swimming, dance, gymnastics, football, chess, baseball, basketball, skiing, ice skating, school, homework, and more school.

Oh yeah, did we forget to mention our careers in medicine?

Needless to say, we realized fast that something had to go, so we opted for sleep. It’s completely overrated (yet so AMAZING) and delirium makes everything funnier. Good thing we share a brain and can pretty much complete each other’s sentences (definitely weird, we know).

“Life was unfair…it was a cruel bitch that wanted to cause others pain and would stop at nothing to do just that.”

Wow. There was so much that went on in this story that it’s hard not to give anything away, but I will try my best. Even though this is book 2 in the Behind the Words series, I was told it could be read as a standalone so I didn’t read Arianna’s story first. I didn’t really have any problems keeping up with the story itself, but I felt like it would’ve been more beneficial to read book 1 first to build a relationship with all of the characters. However, that didn’t keep me from falling in love with these characters at all.

Jayde opens with a heartbreaking scene and we know immediately something terrible has happened, just not exactly what or to whom. Then, we go back to the beginning…

Jayde Kimberland is one half of the Daughters of Darkness duo, the other half being her BFF Arianna. The duo toured with the famous rock band From Yesterday, and Jayde is in a relationship with the sexy, bad boy drummer, Cash O’Brien. It’s been a while since she’s seen Cash so she decides to surprise him. The surprise is on her when she walks in on Cash in a compromising position with a blonde on her knees in front of him. Needless to say, she is heartbroken and can’t believe she was stupid enough to think he actually cared for her or was faithful to her.

Nate Daniels is a very talented and well-known songwriter, and Jayde’s current duo partner. He’s loved Jayde for a while, and after being there to help her pick up the pieces when Cash broke her heart, he finally has his chance. He’s the perfect guy – sexy, sweet, caring, and thoughtful – who wouldn’t love him? Jayde doesn’t want to ruin their professional relationship but if she doesn’t give it a shot, she’ll regret never knowing what could’ve been.

When Jayde’s world is rocked with a major bombshell, she asks Nate to keep a VERY BIG secret. He agrees, not because he is okay with what she has decided, but because he loves her. That doesn’t keep Jayde from second guessing her decision over and over. She can’t help but feel like she is holding Nate back from his life, but she loves him too much to let him go. She’s not being fair to Cash, either. Yes, he screwed up and his life is in a major downward spiral, but would it be different if he knew the truth?

Jayde’s story is terribly tragic, but it still manages to work out in the end. It is a perfect example of how one decision can (and will) affect your entire life, as well as everyone’s around you. This story is just as much heartbreaking as it is heartwarming, so be sure to keep those tissues handy! I’ll definitely be looking for more from this author.

Casey’s Thoughts

Slade Long stole my heart a while back.  Yeah, he’s an ass, but you can’t help but love him.

In Uncontrollable, we see the final chapter of Slade an Samantha’s lives.  There are ups and downs, twists and turns, and events you never saw coming.

The entire book, I kept waiting to see how the story would come to an end, but I dreaded it.  Not because of the writing, but because I love these characters.  I didn’t want their story to end.  I want to know what happens when they are old and grey.  In fact, it took me over a week to read it because I didn’t want to let them go.

In Uncontrollable, Slade, Sam, and the rest of the characters are tests with their love, security, and secrets.  Each person deals with them differently, but when Sam finds out Tate’s secret I was unsure how she would handle it- fight or flight?!  In the end I was proud of how she dealt with the issue.

Also, within this story my heart hurt for Missy.  She’s such a good girl and totally head over heals for Tate.  Saddest part is you can see how much he loves her too.

When the story comes to a close, all the lose ends are tied up, and Slade makes a sacrifice that all women will love.  No matter what kind of guy he was in his past, he wants Angel in his future!  And when things become uncontrollable you want a constant right beside you!
