Self Destruct is told in the dual point of views of Becca and Aiden. Two broken people that come together and try to conquer each other's fears of self destruction. To be each other's rocks and to allow their walls to fall. I would give Self Destruct 4 stars!
Becca is a 20 year old virgin that has a slight fear of men. This comes from her past as a child who had a gentleman take things a little too far. Her parents, not wanting to make a huge deal out of it publicly swept it under the rug and attempted to move on. Eventually causing her parents to divorce. Her mother, however, holds a grudge. She can't seem to allow Becca to move on and have a life that every girl dreams of. Instead, she has to be hateful towards her.
"I've put up with this long enough. I've only been in this family for four years, but it is long enough to know that what happened was not an incident, but an attack. All of the other stuff you accused her of was only to cope with how little you supported her through this trauma." Rick, stepfather.
Aiden is a 24 year old stuck in a relationship that his parents (or should I say his mother) deem him to be in for the rest of his life.  He doesn't love her and he's not sure he ever did. When he meets Becca his world turns upside down and he is sick of living the life his parents want him to and takes matters into his own hands.
"You will respect my relationship with Becca or don't call me. I don't understand why you would want me to continue Vanessa when I was slowly dying with her. What kind of mother tries to force her child into a life that will make him miserable?"-Aiden
I'd definitely recommend this one!

This started out as your typical love story but then turned into one very dramatic book. Chock full of ups and downs as well as twists and turns. Becca is a college student that has her own ways of coping with men. She has suffered from traumatic adolescent experiences that have shaped her views of men and relationships. She needs to do what is best for her well being. Aiden is a college student as well that has his own set of problems with love and life.

"I forced my eyes away from their perusal, before I did something humiliated like drool. I shouldn't let myself want something I'd never have." - Becca

Can this connection between these two individuals ever turn into something more?
Will Becca open up and let Aiden in? Will Aiden wake up and make some much needed changes in his life that are well over due?

"I want to be your only. I like that I'll be your first, but love that I'll be your last." -Aiden

I felt bad for both of these main characters a bit at times. They seemed trapped by their past and unable to escape it. They both trusted the wrong people. Luckily true love leads you in the right direction and helps you overcome obstacles…. TOGETHER  Becca had a great support system that made life fun and interesting. It also added to the depth of the book.
Aiden is the type of hero that will win over readers hearts. He's so genuine and thoughtful. He's memorable! He’s a great catch! I’m sure you may add him to your book boyfriend list for sure….

This story had a touch of angst, great supporting characters, good dialogue, spice and lots of action. I found Self Destruct Destroy 1 by K.D. Carrillo to be drama driven, entertaining and poignant.
I give it 4 Desirable STARS!

Self Destruct by K.D. Carrillo is a story of taking control of your life, not letting others control your actions and to do what makes you happy.  There were times throughout the book that I wanted to grab the characters and shake them for the decisions that they made, allowing outside influences and situations beyond their control to dictate how they lived their lives; and then there were times that I gave a silent cheer for the take charge attitude that they had; all of this making the story more intriguing.  This story was a 3.5 star read for me and I would recommend this book to others.
Becca is a college student unlike any other.  She struggles daily to rid herself of a past that haunts her; a childhood that traumatized her but that her parents don't seem to acknowledge as being a game changer.  She has close friends that are like her family and she works hard to keep her life in order.  She doesn't have room for guys or for love that is until she meets Aiden.  Aiden has been carrying the guilt of a situation that was beyond his control, one that has kept him from being happy for a very long time.  Although his long-time girlfriend was cheating on him and doing little to hide it, he refused to go as far as to sleep with any other girls as it felt wrong to him.  Aiden feels that he is set up for a life without love due to his family obligations to his girlfriend, that is until he sees Becca on the beach.
Becca goes to the beach to rid her mind of the guy that she has been very casually dating.  With her best friend by her side, she is determined to have a good time and that is where she has her first encounter with Aiden.  Aiden is enraptured by Becca from his first glance, watching her attempt to jet-ski.  After spending a little time with her, he realizes that she is an amazing person, which goes along with her beautifully simple look.  It is the time that he spends with Becca and the idea of actually having a relationship that he wants to be in, a girl that he can see himself loving and wanting to spend time with that has Aiden doing something he should have done many years ago.  He breaks up with his girlfriend, much to the dismay of his mother and begins seriously dating Becca.
It is the interference from their families, the struggles to deal with the past; and both Becca and Aiden's, that keeps this storying intriguing and different from all of the other college love stories out there.  I would highly recommend that everyone pick up this great book!

Don't take my word for it, check out some of the reviews:

5.0 out of 5 stars and it does not disappoint at all, July 2, 2014By Kelly McCurdy "KLM" (Grain Valley, MO) - See all my reviewsThis review is from: Burning (Central Coven Book 2) (Kindle Edition)~~I received this in exchange for an honest review~~

This is the second book in the Central Coven series, and it does not disappoint at all!! We are back with Finn, Chloe, Anita, and Dean for an all out war with Witch Hunters. Yes you read that right, we as a civilized culture step back to the 1600s to have an old fashioned witch hunt. But why you ask? Well that is the story. K.D. continues the fantastic writing that was in the first book. She captures your imagination so you can see what all is going on. I love reading her books. I actually do not finish them in one night!! I miss reading the same book for days!

I have nothing but good things to say about this book! You will love it, if you loved the first one, then this is just going to add to your love! I truly hope that there is a third book! I love the characters and what they become, not only physically, but emotionally and mentally as well.
5.0 out of 5 stars Just Plain Good, September 15, 2014By E. WOODS "REAL READER" (ATLANTA,GA.) - See all my reviewsThis review is from: Burning (Central Coven Book 2) (Kindle Edition)This was an excellent follow-up to a very good series.I just love good versus evil especially when it's done well. This is one well written and thought out story.Very well done, well worth taking a trip on the dark side.
5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book in an amazing series!, July 24, 2014By Leah S. - See all my reviewsVerified Purchase(What's this?)This review is from: Burning (Central Coven Book 2) (Kindle Edition)I love this series, and this book was even better then the first one! The plot movesquickly and is very engaging, as usual the characters are funny, introspective, but still young college students at heart. I love that the author brings in other cultures/languages, such a Native American folklore and European history as well, it shows what a well rounded author she is, and it keeps the book interesting by giving everyonetheir own set of history/genes that impacts their supernatural abilities.

The relationships are fun to read about, they move quickly but the author spent time in the first book bringing them to this place, so it doesn't feel rushed, it feels like the next logical step. I like how in love they all are, yet there is the normal uncertainty that comes with young love.

This book is well written, fast paced, and is impossible to put down once you start. I highlyrecommend it, for anyone who likes a modern supernatural story, with young, stylish, funny characters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Read, July 10, 2014By Jennifer's Book Obsession "Jennifer Diaz" - See all my reviewsThis review is from: Burning (Central Coven Book 2) (Kindle Edition)This is the second book in the Central Coven series and was packed with much more actionthan the first book. Chloë, Finn, Anita and Dean are still at it. Trying to protect each otherfrom this war that is raging on.

I liked that we get to know a little bit more of Grey in this one and get inside his head. We are introduced to some new characters amongst the new refugee. Chloë and Finn stillstruggle with their feelings for each other and whether they have a forever future together. I kept thinking 'really we're back to this. Get it together', while Anita and Dean are secure intheir relationship and are madly in love. The characters really grow and develop in this book becoming much more mature and their friendship grows stronger.
Each of the main characters had their own POV, which was great. It was easier to follow alongin this book and made it that much more enjoyable to read. This one was also more New Adultas on top of more action, it was also filled with more emotion, more passion and desire. I really enjoyed reading this book.

Love, Betrayal, Family Drama, Friends - It's all in here!By Stephenee Carstenon April 2, 2014Format: Kindle Edition* I received an ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review. *
The story started out quick and continued with that pace throughout the entire story. I was amazed at how quickly time passed while I was reading it and couldn't believe that it seemed like I barely started and was already finished. A LOT of things happened throughout the plot, and I enjoyed them all. I really like being surprised with twists and turns throughout the story, I couldn't figure out what was going to be thrown at me next and that is a really big plus for me. There was lots of twists and turns, ups & downs, hot and steamy sex scenes and of course the family betrayal. You just couldn't decide what was going to happen next and I was honestly hooked from beginning to end. The characters were very well developed and the dialogue flowed smoothly and naturally. The storyline is really energetic and contains a snappy and realistic dialog between everyone.
You will find yourself hoping for friends like Becca, Aiden, Toni, Katie, Jeremy and Cameron. They are so instantly likable that you feel like you have always known them. Becca and Aiden are both trying to heal and move forward, and need each other. Plain and simple. You will want to scream as their friends and family betray them and you will be just as hooked, as I was and I completed it within a day!It is most definitely worth the read, so add this to your TBR list and pick it up soon!! Just a warning though, once you pick it up and start reading it you may not want to stop so make sure you have a clear schedule for the day!!  I loved the ending and the fact that it doesn't have to be the ending, that you can see more things to come in this series and I hope to see spin-offs on the friends, as they were awesome! I love thisgroup of friends and want them for my own!

20 year old Becca has had a somewhat "tainted" upbringing which has caused her to go off in the deep end trying to forget anything ever happened, you don't get to know the facts of what happeneduntil later in the story unfortunately, but she has dealt with ALOT!
Having "fun" as she puts it seems to be the only way Becca knows of how to numb the pain...or so she thinks??

“I was on a path to self-destruct, but it was all I knew.” ~ Becca

24 year old Aiden is stuck in a rut, with no way out....

What can he do?

He's stuck in a love-less relationship, whereas all he wants to do is get to know the beauty of a red-head that seems to of caught his attention, which he can't seem to shake!

We can tell that Aiden isn't your typical hero in the book, yeah he is perceived as a ladies man but he had a "girlfriend" and he would do anything to help a friend out....your typical gentle, kind bloke :)

When these two lost souls meet, something clicks and their constantly drawn together.

Becca & Aiden try to overcome their past & present hurdles that seem to crop up on them along the journey of self discovery.

You will be hooked, as I was and I completed it within a day! There was lots of twists and turns, ups & downs, hot and steamy sex scenes and of course the family betrayal.

Definitely worth the read :)
Meet Aiden!By HEA Bookshelfon November 13, 2013Format: Kindle Edition4.5 Star

Self Destruct is book one in the Destroy Series. Here we’re taken through Becca and Aiden’s one hell of a journey. Trust me, this book is anything but boring! The plot is full of twists, turns, and secrets!!! I seriously did not see a lot of the twists coming, which was great because it kept me at the edge of my seat.
“I was on a path to self-destruct, but it was all I knew.”

Becca had a traumatizing past and a very bad coping mechanism. What she was doing to hide her pain,to make herself forget, was really only breaking her even more emotionally. Until she met Aiden.
“I’ve got you. If you fall I’ll pick you up. If you break I’ll hold you together. And if you need to cry, I’ll lend you my shoulder.” – Aiden
Now, this guy made me swoon more times that I care to admit. Aiden was sexy, protective, alpha male-like, smart, and downright dreamy. I completely understood why Becca fell in love with him! Who wouldn’t? Okay, so anyway, ever since meeting, Aiden and Becca hit it off. They got together rather quickly and their relationship developed even quicker. This is something that ALL the characters talk about during the book. It’s what worried Becca’s friends (Toni and Kate) since they feared it was another one of Becca’s coping mechanisms. But they were all wrong. Aiden and Becca might’ve had a lightning speed relationship, but their feelings were genuine and ran deep.
“Red, I’m not going to try and fix you, but I’ll help hold you together while you fix yourself. I need you to believe me when I tell you this, I’m not going anywhere.”

They were honestly, perfect for each other. Aiden too had a past, you see. One full of regret and guilt. Enter Vanessa, Aiden’s ex-girlfriend and Aidan’s Mom -- Satan’s spawn. GRRR! I loathed them!! OMG! They were just so mean, cruel and CRAZY! Sheesh!! They definitely kept things interesting, though. That’s for sure. Also, we had Nick, Aiden’s “friend”. I really, really disliked him, but I also felt bad for him. I’m not saying what he did is excusable because it sure as hell isn’t, BUT, I don’t know…I just felt bad for him. I’m a sucker, I know.

“You have made me feel like I’m living again and not just surviving.” – Aiden

A LOT of things happened throughout the plot, and I loved them all. I really like being surprised with twists in books, so this was a really big plus for me. I was honestly hooked from beginning to end. The characters were very well developed and the dialogue flowed smoothly, naturally. My only issue with this book was that sometimes I had to go back and re-read certain sentences to completely understand what was being said. This threw me off a few times, but I enjoyed the story so much, that it never even got close to it being a deal breaker. I just thought I’d mention it.

The ending was fantastic! Loved it!!! I was grinning like an idiot and my heart was extremely happy. I can’t wait to see where this series will take us next. If you love a hot romance with an angst-driven plot full of little twists, then this is the book for you!

“You are everything I want, and everything I need.”

DESTROY ME (DESTROY 2) UPDATE

Destroy Me (Destroy 2) coming in December 2014!
I've got my editing date set, and progress is being made.  I'm really happy with this book so far.  Anyone that has struggled with pain, loss, or trauma might see themselves in the way Kate and Reed react to their personal struggles.

I hope my readers will see two people that struggle, and ultimately overcome.

For now the price of Self Destruct has been lowered to .99!

Synopsis Becca Scott spent years burying her traumatic past under alcohol and boys. With the help of her best friend she struggled to accept herself and let go of the pain. She thought she had her life under control for once, until she met Aiden.

Aiden Ryan lives with constant self-hatred. He allowed those close to him to manipulate his life for their own gain, because he felt he deserved it. He was resigned to marry a woman he didn't love, until he met Becca.

Becca and Aiden try and let go of their painful pasts to be together, but will their pasts let go of them?

4.0 out of 5 stars  Lisa's review  June 5, 2014By Twin OpinionsFormat:Kindle EditionThis book was really fast paced. It was a change from the slow build to the predictable. It was a quick read for me as well. Easily read in one sitting. I really enjoyed the characters. They were easy to relate to. Aiden is a sweet guy but he is in a relationship that is loveless. Becca is a girl with a troubled past. After they meet there is an instant connection. They just have to fight life's struggles and hurdles to come out together on the other side. A really nice read and well worth your time.

~ SYNOPSIS ~Before building the Marquette Plantation, Pierre and Geneviève Marquette lived in a small home with the other Acadians in Nova Scotia. They were forced from their home as was others that traveled with them. It took Pierre years to build Geneviève the perfect home when they finally made it to Louisiana. Life had been hard but they had each other and their children. Unfortunately, Geneviève only got to live in it for a short while before her unfortunate passing. Yellow fever hit the area with a vengeance taking many lives, including hers.

Ever since her passing Geneviève has wandered the plantation and watched her family grow. Genevieve is so proud of her decedents. Despite the ravages of war, storms and hard times, this plantation did maintain many of their traditions as well as their French language. She beams with pride as Bridgette strives to educate people of their unique cultural identity forged by some four centuries of turbulent history.

Marquette Plantation is the image of everything graceful and lovely in the Deep South. In the serene moonlight, a low ground fog swirls as a light breeze rolls off of the bayou. Spanish moss drips from the ancient oak trees reminding her of the lace curtains she just purchased.

The silver mist curls its way around the courtyard. She can hear the moans of the poor lost souls that are trapped in the mist. The moon has a ring around it promising rain soon. The misty halo creates an eerie glow across the earth, bathing the area in a pale light.

Lately, she is afraid to wander the grounds. The beauty of the night seems to have been taken from her. All that seems to remain in this place she loves for so long is death and evil. If only she could see where the evil lurks, she could warn someone. But no, all she can do is sense its presence. She can hear its raspy breath and smell the fetid odor that comes from its flesh and blood.

She must warn Bridgette of the evil that lurks these grounds before it is too late.

Burning (Central Coven 2) is live!!!!!!

Synopsis:
Freshman year changed the lives of Chloë, Finn, Dean and Anita. Their sophomore year brings new hope for the normal lives they all crave, and a second chance at lost love.

Their hopes are shattered when ritualistic murders reminiscent of the Inquisition threaten to expose the existence of the supernatural world. The Central Coven needs Chloë to step up and help them face this new evil, but her powers have been rapidly weakening.

In order to heal Chloë must face her most frightening challenge yet, giving Finn a second chance.
Excerpt 1:
Finn exhaled forcefully, like he had been holding his breath for a long time.  I looked into his electric-blue eyes and saw nervousness melt to relief.  He squeezed my hand.  “I could wait forever for you or take this as slow as you need as long as I know that you are here with me.  I just needed to know that you are as committed to giving us a chance as I am.”  I smiled at him, a little bit of wickedness playing across my lips.I placed my hand on his left shoulder and slowly it brushed across his chest to his right shoulder.  His eyes began to glow, and then they darkened to a deeper blue.  Hmm, it wasn’t only my eyes that changed.  Good to know.  “You could wait forever, could you?” I taunted in a husky, low voice.  “Ugh,” he grunted.  I laughed, taking in his tortured expression and tense muscles.  “You are a little evil,” he rasped.  “No, baby.  I promise I’m very good, and I don’t want to wait forever.  Just a little bit longer,” I whispered.“Get your sexy ass in the car before I toss you in the back seat and say the fuck with waiting,” Finn growled.  I licked my lips and thought about taunting him a little more, but the flash of his eyes signaled the end of his self-control.  I scrambled into the passenger’s seat and buckled up.  Finn waited in the same spot for a long moment.  He shook his head like he was clearing out an image and walked around the car, chuckling.  “Good choice, but the other way could have been more fun.”  “Oh, it will be.  Just not tonight,” I promised.
Excerpt 2:My lungs and muscles burned, but I continued to run.  A steady pounding of feet sounded behind me along with a rhythmic crunch of gravel.  My feet stung as rocks ripped into the soles.  I could feel the slick and sticky blood pooling under my feet.  Straight ahead was a small grassy area, and I pushed myself harder to escape.  My bloody feet were slippery on the tall grass, and I fell hard, mixing grass stains with bloodstains.  I screamed for help, but the nearest neighbors were several miles down the road.  The pounding cadence of my pursuers' footsteps came closer.  I couldn't stand up fast enough, and scrambled as fast as I could on my hands and knees.    Suddenly, I was jerked backwards by my ponytail.  My scalp screamed in protest as I was dragged across the ground.  I tried digging my heels into the ground, and pulling at the ground, but I wasn't able to slow him down.He pulled me toward the center of the field, where there stood a large, wooden stake surrounded by a pile of firewood.  I renewed my struggle, but we continued to move closer and closer to it.  I tossed an elbow and hit the man to my right.  He stopped, and slapped me hard across the face, filling my mouth with the coppery taste of blood. Despite my struggling I was tied to the pole with a thick, scratchy rope.  Behind me, the slosh and splash of liquid being tossed on logs startled me.  The air filled with the tangy scent of gasoline as the guy continued to douse the wood around me.  I prayed to be saved, or to die quickly, anything to escape burning alive.  I heard the strike of a match followed by the whoosh of gasoline catching fire.

Teaser #1:
She cocked her eyebrow at me.  “You were in Europe.  What could have been missing?”  I smiled at her and tugged on one of her long curls.  “You,” I responded.  “Finn…” she warned.  “Chloë…” I refused to back down. She sighed.  “I thought we were going to try and be friends?”  “I tried.  I want you too badly —physically, emotionally, and permanently.  No, not want.  I need you.  You still want me too.”  I put my index finger over her lips when I could sense she was going to argue with me, and I felt the delicious jolt of electricity travel between us.  “Don’t deny it.  I know you felt that.  Your eyes can’t lie to me.”“I won’t deny it.  I want you.  I’ve always wanted you, and I probably always will.  Maybe someday we can get it together and be on the same page at the same time,” she admitted.  “You want me right now?” I asked.  She nodded hesitantly.  “You have feelings for me, more than lust?” Again, she nodded.  I wrapped my arms around her waist, and she softened against my chest.  I stroked her silky, soft hair and whispered, “Then we are on the same page at the same time.”  She tensed in my arms.  “Shh.  I won’t push too fast.  Go out with me.  Let’s do it right this time.  Let me take you on a real, ordinary date,” I urged.“An ordinary date?  You’re really trying to sell it, aren’t you?” she teased.  “Dinner and a moonlit stroll.  I’ll grow you some flowers.  I’ll be a gentleman and walk you to the door.  Maybe you’ll kiss me goodnight.  You know, a normal first date,” I said trying to convince her.

Hey everyone, its Jeremy. I'm hijaking the blog for a very special book.

I'm not here to talk to you about Destroy Me.  If you want to find out about Aiden and Becca's baby, or if I've made any progress with Cameron, you'll have to wait until the end of the summer.  No, I've taken over K.D.'s blog to interview my other favorite author, Nyrae Dawn.  Her books speak to me, and not just because of the smoking hot cover of Rush.  They make me feel like it's not just ok to be different, but they show me that everyone feels like an outcast sometimes.

Nyrae Dawn ND:  Thank you

Most of your characters can be considered outsiders, what draws you to these characters?
ND:   This is a great question. I’m a huge fan of flawed characters who have a lot more going on than they let onto the world. Even if they have a group of friends, inside a lot of them are outsiders. Their feelings often feel more raw to me. I find it easier to dig deeper with them because there are just so many layers!
Rush's story obviously holds a special place in your heart.  What do you hope your readers get from it?
ND:   That it’s not just okay to be who you are, it’s important, and that there is nothing wrong with who that person is. That love is love, and it’s a beautiful thing. That we aren’t defined by any one thing, or what other people think.
Where do you get your inspiration for your novels?

And now for that smoking hot cover...
ND:            It is pretty hot, isn’t it?

It's out now.  Here's where to buy:Amazon

Burning (Central Coven 2) coming soon!!!

Release date will be announced with the cover reveal.  Stay tuned, here or on my other social media links for the latest information.

Until then, enjoy a teaser.  (May change slightly with editing.)

Dean and Anita have been apart most of the summer.  When they finally reunite their simmering passion nears combustion...

I ran my fingers through her silky hair.  I leaned in and kissed her.  At first it was a quick tease of my lips against hers.  It wasn’t enough, so I went back for more.  I pressed my lips against hers demanding entrance with my tongue.  I poured my love into her with every stroke, caress, and with my every breath.  It was difficult, but I managed to pull away.  I was at the razor’s edge of my control.  I would never take away such a big choice from her though.  Because once we were together, when we made love, I was never going to let her go.  Who was I kidding? I wouldn’t let her go now.“What changed everything for you?  What made you stop torturing yourself for something that was beyond your control?” I asked.  I was breathing heavy, and my heart was racing.  I wanted to kiss her again, but I wanted her to know that I wanted all of her.  I wanted her heart and her soul, not just her body.  However badly I wanted her body right now, I would not settle for less than everything.“You changed everything.  I pushed you and you wouldn’t give in.  I whined, ranted, raved, pouted, and still you held firm.  I was amused, intrigued, impressed, and madly in love.  I can’t give you my first time, but you are the first and only man I’ve ever loved.  You are the only one who has ever had my heart,” she said, gazing deep in my eyes.“I want you Anita, anyway, every way, forever.  Only you, exactly as you are,” I vowed.  “You are the sexiest and most romantic man alive.  How did I get you?” she said breathlessly.  Her tiny hands were stroking the side of my face, and running through my hair.  I turned one of them over and laid a kiss on her palm.  “That’s easy.  I was made for you, and you were made for me.”
