Things that go bump...

Last night, when I should have been winding down for some sleep, my brain went into hyperdrive.
It was like all of those cliché's a lightning strike, a flash, what ever you want to call it, but an idea formed.
I had to write, but first I had to look up a few things.
Perhaps I should have questioned the logic of researching haunted places at 2 A.M., but hey I said I was inspired not rational.
As luck would have it I found a creepy story about a deranged doctor, fraud, and in home autopsies.  That isn't even the part that was a figment of my imagination.  No, real people are way scarier than anything my brain can work up.
I started to write, and I had all of these gruesome stories in my head, that my brain was turning into elements of my story.
I heard a creak, a muffled voice, or thunder clap, and I was jumping out of my skin.
How did I sleep you ask?  Not very well.  I'm not usually prone to nightmares, but I had them last night.
I'm writing this with a smile on my face because if I managed to scare the Dickens out of myself, I can't wait for you to read it.
Burning (Central Coven 2) is nearly finished.  I hope to release it early in 2014.
P.S. if you want a good nights sleep I do not recommend googling Starvation Heights in Washington State, or the Malby Cementary.

Reviews

See what people are saying about
Fighting Destiny (Central Coven 1):

5 Star Amazon reviews:

Ellisa Reese author of Falling by the Banks of St. Clare

I just finished this book and loved every page. Chloe was of course my favorite character. KD Carillo is a very talented story teller and I recommend this book to everyone. And I am not a reader!

A. S.  Great book...kept me riveted throughout. The interplay of the various characters was well thought out, as well as info on their various supernatural powers. Can't wait till the next installment of this series.
J. B.I really enjoyed every bit of this book and I am eagerly waiting for the next book in this series. Can't wait to find out how she feels about her change in circumstances.
Hope the next book isn't too far away!
Check it out and decide for yourself.

Dean Forester

In Burning (Central Coven 2) Dean proves that nice guys don't always finish last. While I'm writing the sequel, take a moment to get to know him (or remind yourself why you love him). (Excerpt from Burning)

I ran my fingers through her silky hair.  I leaned in and kissed her.  At first it was a quick tease of my lips against hers.  It wasn’t enough, so I went back for more.  I pressed my lips against hers demanding entrance with my tongue.  I poured my love into her with every stroke, caress, and with my every breath.  It was difficult, but I managed to pull away.  I was at the razor’s edge of my control.  I would never take away such a big choice from her though.  Because once we were together, when we made love, I was never going to let her go.  Who was I kidding? I wouldn’t let her go now.“What changed everything for you?  What made you stop torturing yourself for something that was beyond your control?” I asked.  I was breathing heavy, and my heart was racing.  I wanted to kiss her again, but I wanted her to know that I wanted all of her.  I wanted her heart and her soul, not just her body.  However badly I wanted her body right now, I would not settle for less than everything.“You changed everything.  I pushed you and you wouldn’t give in.  I whined, ranted, raved, pouted, and still you held firm.  I was amused, intrigued, impressed, and madly in love.  I can’t give you my first time, but you are the first and only man I’ve ever loved.  You are the only one who has ever had my heart,” she said, gazing deep in my eyes.“I want you Anita, anyway, everyway, forever.  Only you, exactly as you are,” I vowed.  “You are the sexiest and most romantic man alive.  How did I get you?” she said breathlessly.  Her tiny hands were stroking the side of my face, and running through my hair.  I turned one of them over and laid a kiss on her palm.  “That’s easy.  I was made for you, and you were made for me.”

Since I'm working on the sequel to Fighting Destiny, here is another character teaser. Burning coming early 2014

Meet Finn-
Finn Christiansen
Chloë and Finn had a rocky start.  For Finn, discovering he was an immortal supernatural being was a challenge.  Meeting his soul mate at eighteen was even harder to come to terms with.  Nearly a year later Finn is still trying to come to terms with his feelings, and repair the damage he caused by questioning his feelings.  Now he has to figure out what to do when "the one" comes too soon.
(From Burning)
Seattle, is a great city if you want to get lost, or to blend in even if you normally stand out.  It doesn’t matter how unique you are in a city that is bursting at the seams with diversity.  Your differentness becomes normal.  Walking along the sound, I am just another leather-clad stranger examining the rainbow sheen of boat pollution around the docks.  No one seems to mind the light rain that has been steadily falling all day.  Nor do they seem bothered by the chill caused by being perpetually wet, and subjected to a cold Pacific breeze. It seems the cure is a strong cup of coffee.  Luckily it is available on every street corner.  Man, Chloë would love a day like today.  Chloë… It seems no matter how hard I try to leave her behind she is always right in front of me, taunting me, intriguing me, torturing me.  It isn’t that I don’t want to be with her.  If I am being honest with myself I want her so badly I am physically in pain.  But, that right there is why I fought it so hard.  It feels like being on the edge of something, and preparing to jump into… nothing… everything, and that is the problem.   I sense that being with her will either be the end or the beginning.  I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt once that line is crossed, concretely…once I’ve had her in my arms, without hesitation, without interruption, that is it for me.  Hell, she’s already everything to me, and we’ve only kissed.  If we take that next step and she doesn’t want me, it will end me.

Before Burning (Central Coven 2) comes out later this winter get Fighting Destiny (Central Coven 1)

Chloë is a young witch.  She has learned about all of the paranormal creatures that exist in her world, but knowing and experiencing aren't the same thing.  She knows for example that vampires are dangerous and seductive creatures, but knowing still didn't prepare her for Grey.

“Where do you think we’ll find Grey?” As Anita considered my question I felt cold fingers gently brush the side of my neck.  My hair was swept aside so quickly it was as if a gust of wind concentrated on that one lock of hair.  Then the lightest touch of wintry lips to the curve of my neck.  “If you wanted to find me, all you had to do was ask.  I am at your service,” he said and bowed.  “Grey, knock that seduction crap off would’ya,” Anita snapped.  “Only if she wants me to,” he replied with a fiendish grin.  I am supposed to do something here.  I can tell because they are both looking at me.  Oh, boy I really want to kiss him. Probably not what Anita was expecting me to do.  Why do I want to kiss him?  I like Finn. Really, I do.  At least usually I like him a lot, but right now I would like to…Yeah, I’m definitely screwing something up judging by the way Anita is glaring at me.  “Grey, we need to ask you some questions,” I managed to blurt out.  Yes!  I have questions, that is why I’m here. Thank God, my brain still works, well, kinda.  “Is that reallywhat you want to do right now, ask me questions?”  No, “Yes,” I managed to spit out.Unaware I had taken a step toward him.  He put his hands on my shoulder, slid them leisurely down my arms, and took hold of my hands.  His gaze was mesmerizing; I couldn’t resist him any longer.  He let go of my hands, put them around my waist, and kissed me, first softly on the lips, then deeper, until I felt dizzy.  Then he pulled away and laughed, “You need to be more careful I could have had you if I wanted to.  They really planned this right, coming after you when you are so ill prepared.  We are seductive creatures; we can make you love us if we want you to.  Do not forget that,” he warned.I scowled.  To be honest part of me was compelled by him, but on some level I was also genuinely attracted to him.  However, now I was just pissed off.  He thought he displayed his power for me, and showed my weakness.  It was time he saw a display of my power, and perhaps a small taste of my wrath.  That will show him not to use his damn vampire mojo on me.

Author spotlight Daniell DeVor

Danielle DeVor spent her early years fantasizing about vampires and watching “Salem’s Lot” way too many times.  After living briefly in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she moved back to her hometown to write.  When not writing and reading about weird things, you will find her hanging out at the nearest coffee shop, enjoying a mocha frappuccino.

Blurb:
Sixteen-year-old ghost hunter, Emma Hoffman thought that moving into an old Victorian was going to be awesome-- ghosts galore.

As she gets to know Marcus, the construct, he asks her to help him avenge his maker and find her killer. Emma’s not too sure this is a good idea, she’s a ghost hunter after all, not a detective, but she agrees to help him anyway.
While trying to discover more information about the killer, Emma begins to have feelings for Marcus- feelings she isn’t ready to admit. Then the sorcerer who killed Marcus’s maker shows up at Emma’s house with an insane plan to capture Marcus and absorb his power- Emma isn’t having it. Marcus is hers.
When the killer performs a spell that begins to steal Marcus’s life force, Emma risks losing him. It’s a race against time for Emma to figure out how to stop the sorcerer and his spell before Marcus fades away and disappears from her life forever.
Giveaway
$10 Amazon Gift Card and Miranda’s Book of Spells used to create Marcus.

Meet Aiden, Jeremy and Becca

Aiden Ryan Jeremy Anderson

Jeremy and Aiden have been best friends since elementary school. Here is a tiny piece of scene where Aiden is confessing his intentions to pursue Becca.

Rebecca Scott“See that is the thing, I’m already serious about her.  I wanted to beat your ass for kissing her Jeremy, and I know you don’t actually want her.  But, I couldn’t help that my inner caveman wanted to beat you with a club and drag her away by her hair.  You think she is going to find that attractive?”  Jeremy fanned himself, “God I would.”  I burst out laughing.  Jeremy was just being Jeremy, the same guy I had been friends with since we both thought girls were gross at the beginning of Kindergarten.  The only thing that changed was I started liking them by sixth grade and he still thought they were gross.

Self Destruct teaser for 9/2/13

Aiden wants to resist Becca, because he can't give her what he thinks she needs.  But, what will he do when he realizes he can't resist her?***************************************************“Hey Ya by Outkast began playing over the stereo.  Becca started doing a sexy wiggle without thinking, so I led her to where her friend had pushed the furniture aside to make room for dancing.  “Toni hates new music.  She only listens to stuff from the 90’s and early 2000’s,” Becca whispered.  The tequila made her voice become husky and was going to trash the rest of my self-control.  I grabbed her waist and pulled her body tight against mine.  My hips started to sway us back and forth.  Her upper body turned and undulated across my chest and stomach.  I could tell she was slender looking at her, but holding her I realized her clothes were hiding a fantastic body.  She had soft curves, but she also had tight muscles pulling while she danced.  Her tiny hands slid across my chest and around my neck.  I looked into her jade green eyes.  She was really very pretty.  All peaches and cream skin surrounded by dark red hair.  I’m sure girls have a different name for the color, dark red softened by tones of brown.  It was so thick and soft.  I love long hair on girls, and hers fell most of the way down her back.  Becca leaned back and exposed her pretty pale neck. I might be a bastard, but my resistance was slipping.  I leaned in and gently nibbled the tender skin.  I felt her try to suppress a moan.  I took my right hand from her waist and buried it in the hair at the back of her neck and went in for a kiss.  First I gently brushed my lips across hers.  Then I traced her plump lower lip with my tongue until she opened for me.  I slipped into her mouth and our tongues danced in time with our bodies.  My hips ground into her against my will.  I’m sure if she weren’t drunk she would be pulling away from me right now.  Unfortunately she became really cooperative when plied with alcohol.

Works in progress

I am nearly finished with Burning (Central Coven 2).  I have some editing left on Self Destruct (Destroy 1) and expect to release late September 2013.  I have begun Destroy Me (Destroy 2) Kate and Reed's story, but it is still really early.  I have also begun Hunting Butterflies, which right now is a stand alone Adult Contemporary.

I know it sounds like a lot of projects in the air, but it keeps me focused in a weird way.  When I exhaust my brain on one idea, I can jump the the next one.  Once I am tired of that story I have had an idea for the next one.  For now it seems to work.
