How is the music I'm listening to influencing my writing?
Destroy Me (Destroy 2)
"I know you only want to be friends, but I want to make something clear," I began. Kate tensed up when I reached forward for my iPhone. "Relax Katie, I'm just going to play you a song. This says it better than I can," I said.
I plugged my phone into my stereo and cued up Mumford and Son's "I Will Wait For You." The banjo blasted through my speakers, and I watched as she realized what I was playing her.
"I can't ask you to wait for me Reed," she said softly. "It isn't a choice for me Katie. I'll be your friend. I won't push you. But I'll still be waiting for you to see me the way I see you."
She looked up at me with sad brown eyes. "Some people are too broken to waste your time on." "You aren't broken Katie, just a little bruised. Either way I'll be here waiting," I promised. "People around me get hurt Reed," she whispered.
I wanted to touch her, comfort her in some way, but I knew that she was too raw to accept it right now. She grabbed my phone and searched through my playlist. Without a word she picked another Mumford and Sons song, "Ghosts That We Knew." When the song reached the chorus I knew that whatever Kate's secrets were they were going to break my heart.

Destroy Me
I'm spending my evenings writing Destroy Me. I wanted to share a line I wrote the other night. This line speaks to the theme of Destroy Me:
That's the thing about love. It can't be earned. When it's true it is given without condition, without expectations, and with the knowledge it might not come back to you. ~Kate, Destroy Me
That is a line from a letter Kate had from her mother. This is my inspiration:
You'll also get to meet Becca and Aiden's little boy (also inspired by my son), because who doesn't love cute kids?
That's all for now. Keep checking back for progress updates.

Coming March 1
A contemporary romance:We were never meant to be caged …
It was just a matter of circumstance that brought our equally ruined lives together.
Mercy Cole has come off the beat. She’s a drowning mess after devastating circumstances shatter her every ideal in one single second. Torn from the life she knew by chance, she decides that a post in Silverwater Jail is just what she needs. There, she won’t have to deal. Deal with real people, deal with emotions, and deal with life.
What she doesn’t expect is for Saxon Miles to work his way into her heart and destroy the steel bars she’s built up to keep people out.
Saxon’s no stranger to trouble, but that was the last thing he was expecting on a night out. When it comes to family, there’s nothing he wouldn’t do to protect them. He just didn’t plan on going to jail because of it.
In a twist of fate, their lives collide; the only thing keeping them apart is the bars that hold them prisoner.

What to write?
I need to hear from all of you. What should be my next book to publish?
Burning (Central Coven 2)
Chloë, Finn, Dean, and Anita return to Ellensburg, WA for their sophmore year of college. They have accepted that their lives will never be like their fellow college students, but it doesn't stop them from trying.
Dean and Anita's relationship continues to grow. Dean's love and patience help Anita face the darkness of her past. Finn struggles with the mistakes he made with Chloë. Their friendship has grown since they stopped the takeover of the Council, but he wants more than her friendship.
Grey's return to Ellensburg brings more than uncertainty to Finn and Chloë. Grey rejoins his coven to stop a series of ritualistic murders that are headed toward Washington.
To make their situation worse Chloë's powers start to rapidly decline. The Central Coven races to stop the murders without the help of Chloë's magic.
Destroy Me (Destroy 2)
One of Becca's best friends, Kate, has a secret. Something she's hidden from everyone except her twin brother Cameron.
Reed is drawn to the reserved and mysterious blonde. He respects her intelligence, but his instincts tell him she needs his help. Reed senses if he pursues her she will run, but keeping his distance is too hard.
When the past comes crashing down on Kate she realizes she needs the one thing she has avoided for years, help. She reluctantly turns to Reed, and he seizes the opportunity to learn more about her.
Secrets can destroy, can Reed save Kate from hers?
Leave a comment and tell me which one should come next.

What to expect from me in 2014
SPRING
Burning (Central Coven 2) is almost done. The plan is to release this one later this spring, one year after the debut of Fighting Destiny. This one is more of a thriller than the first, and it has double the romance. I scared myself silly writing this, and hopefully I'll scare you too.
SUMMER/FALL
Destroy Me (Destroy 2) should be ready to release by the beginning of summer if not sooner. Although each book in this series can be read as a stand-alone, the characters and storylines from Self Destruct does carry forward into Destroy Me. This is Reed and Kate's book.
Hunting Butterflies is a stand-alone Adult Contemporary. This is a story of divorce, forgiveness, and reunited love. This book is intended for 18+ due to graphic sexual scenes.

So you got a gift card to buy books for Christmas, and you don't know which to buy. We'll I've got some suggestions...
Every year my family asks what I want for Christmas, and every year I have the same answer: Books! Here are some books I want, books I'm reading, and a couple I wrote. Happing reading...
Self Destruct: This is my number one because I wrote it, and because I'm still obsessed with my hero. This is a story about finding love after tragedy, and finally believing you deserve it. Amazon B&NFighting Destiny: This is the first book I published. I'm nearly done with the sequel, so you should read it before the next one comes out. This isn't your average paranormal romance with a weak woman being saved by a supernatural stud. In this series the women are as strong as the men. Amazon B&NIgnite by Tessa Teevan: I'm reading this book right now, and let me tell you, this book is scorching hot. Like melt your e-reader hot, and funny too. If you like reunited love stories with sexy soldiers then this one is definately for you. Amazon B&NMisbehaving by Abbi Glines: This is one I bought with my Amazon gift card. It's the latest in the Sea Breeze series, and one of my guilty pleasures. I giggle like a virginal school girl while reading this series, but I love it. Amazon B&NFinding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover: I came across this novella that follows up a story first introduced in Hopeless and Losing Hope. It was one of the best books I've read all year. It's definately a must read, and free so it won't hurt those gift dollars. Amazon B&NBreaking Brandon by Elizabeth Reyes: This is another one from my wish list. I love her books, the Moreno Brothers is one of my favorite series. This is the second book in the Fate series, a spin-off of the Moreno Brothers. Amazon B&NFour Seconds to Lose by K. A. Tucker: This is my next read after Ignite. Ten Tiny Breaths is one of my favorite books. This book tells the story of the mysterious Cain the unlikely owner of the strip club we first meet in Ten Tiny Breaths. Amazon B&NRebel by Elle Casey: I love Elle Casey. This series sounds like it is going to be another favorite. This one sounds like a twist on the story of the trouble making guy and innocent girl. In this story both characters are rebels. I'm intrigued. Amazon B&N

This is the most exciting thing I've ever announced here...
Over a year ago I found a book titled Slammed on Amazon. I had never heard of it, none of my friends had heard of it, but the reviews were too good to pass up.
That was the first time I was introduced to the Colleen Hoover twist. I was an addict after that. I quickly read Point of Retreat and thought, "There is no way she can top this series."
And then I found Hopeless. I started pushing her books on my friends and family like a drug dealer. I was accused of being obsessed, or exaggerating how good her books are. And then they read them. Now I'm surrounded by rabid Colleen Hoover fans.
I couldn't possibly imagine how Colleen could top Hopeless and then I read Losing Hope. But what I have to announce is unlike anything I've ever seen an author do.
Prepare yourself...
Most of you know Griffin Peterson from American Idol, and as the image of Dean Holder from Losing Hope. Now he's teamed up with Colleen Hoover again to write a soundtrack to her upcoming book Maybe Someday. That's right, the book has a soundtrack.
I asked Colleen and Griffin what inspired them to create such a unique concept:
Colleen: I received a lot of positive responses to the inclusion of lyrics from The Avett Brothers in Slammed, as well as the slam poetry. I guess I kind of combined those two ideas into one, thinking it would be cool to include original lyrics in the story that were actually written by the characters. That idea grew into the idea of readers actually being able to hear the songs the characters wrote. That's where Griffin came in. He wrote all of the lyrics and music for the story.
Griffin: Colleen would send me scenes from the book or describe to me what the characters were going through and how they were feeling. I would use that information as inspiration to write music that I felt would do the story justice.
Now all you need are links to pre-order Maybe Someday and download the first single "I'm In Trouble", and again I've got you covered.

Burning (Central Coven 2) update
Finn Anita Chloë DeanI've been asked a few times lately when the sequel to Fighting Destiny will be released. I'm working on the last couple chapters this week, and then it goes off to my reading team. I hope to be done and ready to publish this spring. For now here is a little teaser:
But which love interest is Chloë talking about?
There are some pretty big events coming in the sequel. There are new characters. Some you'll love, and some you'll hate. The Central Coven will learn that the exposure of magic is a very dangerous thing. But will they be able to contain it?
Stay tuned to find out. Add to your Goodreads shelf.
