Cover Reveal Unsettled

Ready?

Almost there...

And now the cover for the debut novel Unsettled by S.C. Ellington...

Synopsis: 18+ New Adult Romance
After a horrific breakup with her longtime boyfriend, Brooklyn Caldwell is completely disenchanted with the notion of mingling with the opposite sex. Damon Williams had been everything she thought she wanted…until he wasn’t.
In an attempt to escape her heartbreaking past, Brooklyn seeks refuge in bustling Washington, D.C. where she folds into the fast paced society unnoticed…until she meets a young entrepreneur, Logan Colton.
Brooklyn is surprised to find that while she has been successful in keeping the opposite sex at bay, somehow she is defenseless against Logan’s confidence and charm—and it doesn’t hurt that he is absurdly beautiful.
As much as Logan didn’t plan on pursuing her, he is drawn to Brooklyn’s muted beauty and her witty persona. For all his success, Logan is ensnared in the coveted world of unequivocal wealth and power, but behind closed doors is taunted by demons and an undeniable need to atone for a monumental mistake.
As the two embark on a tumultuous obstacle course saturated with unknown twists and turns, Brooklyn is left to question whether she can endure the journey ahead.

My to be read list

There are always a lot of new books to read, but lately it seems my Kindle is filling up faster than I can read everything I've bought.  Damn Amazon one click purchasing.
Right now (when I'm not writing) I'm reading:
I am really loving this book.  Jace is amazing, like I'd love to clone him amazing.  Just from what I've read so far there has been heartbreak, humor and heat. So if anyone is upset about me not writing 24/7 blame Tessa Teevan, because Jace is just that good.

Buy

I love, love, love this series.  Harper Blaine is the ultimate bad ass.  Each book is thorougly researched.  Even though I'm a Washington girl I learn so much about my home state I never knew about.  Kat does a great job digging out the creepy urban legends and blending them seamlessly into Harper's world.
Buy

Too be read soon:

I've read the two previous books in this series and I loved them.  I had been hoping to learn more about Cain, and I was thrilled when I found out he was getting his own book.  These books run you through every emotion possible, and I can't wait to get to this one.

Buy

This is my current favorite series.  The only reason I haven't read this one yet is because it ends on a cliffhanger, and I'm not emotionally prepared for it yet.  The last one left me twisted up for days, and I loved it.  I usually hate cliffhangers, but this series is addicting.

Have you checked out Self Destruct?

"You have lit up my darkness.  When my mind runs toward painful memories, you hold me steady and give me the strength to fight.    I love you so much those words feel inadequate.  You are my freedom, my security, my daring, my passion, my next breath, and my soul." ~Rebecca

Book Blurb:

Becca Scott spent years burying her traumatic past under alcohol and boys. With the help of her best friend she struggled to accept herself and let go of the pain. She thought she had her life under control for once, until she met Aiden.

Aiden Ryan lives with constant self-hatred. He allowed those close to him to manipulate his life for their own gain, because he felt he deserved it. He was resigned to marry a woman he didn't love, until he met Becca.

Becca and Aiden try and let go of their painful pasts to be together, but will their pasts let go of them?

Read a couple of the Reviews:

Swooning Over Books

Self Destruct was a twisting, turning suspense filed novel from start to finish.  The author had me hanging on to the edge of my seat in more ways then one.

Aiden and Becca's relationship progressed at warp speed.  (Yes, warp speed.  I am dork.  Leave me alone :-P  )  From the moment the author brought these two together they are off and running.  Now, don't get me wrong, I understand love doesn't always go according to a preordained plan.  Who am I to say what is too fast or too slow?  I get it.  I really do.  But, wow.  I wasn't the only one who recognized this either.  I was glad to see that the rest of the cast caught on as well.  This shows that the quick progression was all part of the author's plan.  Kudos to her.  Sometimes the author is unaware or doesn't recognize the expedited rate at which the storyline unfolds.  By her calling it out it soothed the knot in my stomach.

I enjoyed Aiden's manly 'I want to protect you from the world' vibe.  It is always nice to have a strong leading man,  I also liked watching Becca's growth throughout the novel.  The twists and turns the author added took the basic love story and spiced it up, creating something new and exciting.

I also want to throw my two cents in and say I would love to read Reed and Kate's story!  They both deserve a happy ever after.

Happy reading!!

Customer Review from Amazon:

I couldn't put this book down!! Already a fan of Central Coven, K.D. Carrillo's first book, I bought this the first day it came out, and I read it pretty much straight thru! The storyline kept me hooked. It was interesting, fun, sexy, romantic, and the character descriptions really brought them all to life. I can't help thinking I really want to find out more about the BFF Toni and some of the other friends, Kate and Jeremy. They all are really interesting and she dives just deep enough to leave me wanting more about the others. I love Becca's friendship with Toni and the great descriptions of college keg parties: reminds me of my own college experiences! The relationship with Becca and Aiden moves quickly but its a nice change of pace from other books where there is the yo-yo effect of them breaking up, getting back together, miscommunications, etc. There is NONE of that here, it is just love, from the beginning. They are both trying to heal and move forward, and need each other. Plain and simple. The storyline is really energetic, snappy dialog. PLLLEEAASSEEE write a book about the
other characters too, I love this group of friends!

The Edge of Always by J. A. Redmerski

This book picks up where The Edge of Never leaves off.  Andrew has survived his nearly fatal brain tumor, but that doesn't mean that he and Camryn ride off happily ever after.

Another tragedy leaves Cam reeling, and slipping back into the depression that made her run at the beginning of The Edge of Never.  Andrew has to fight to help her find herself again.

I loved this book.  The story progressed naturally, and their responses to life's challenges made sense for the characters.  The ending was perfect.  I've never read a book with such complete resolution.  This is a must read series.

Discover Indie Authors

Here are my picks for a few of the best in Indie.  Read on and discover a new author, or see my love for one of your favorites.  These are all Romances, because it's what I read.  I broke this down into categories, but most of these books fall into several at once, so make sure to check them all out.
(click on the title to buy on Amazon, or on the author's name to go to their goodreads page to see more of their books)

YAAnne Eliot     Unmaking Hunter Kennedy      After a car accident--an event he considers a prank gone bad--pop star, Hunter Kennedy is forced to hide out with his aunt in small-town Colorado. He’s supposed to rest, heal his scars and attend high school in disguise until the press dies down. But he only wants to get back to work.
Worse, the girl who’s been assigned to make him over into a geek is a major geek herself. Vere Roth is a chattering pixie, a blushing tornado and a complete social disaster. He’s never met a girl who’s never-been-kissed, believes in romance and thinks Hunter’s a 'nice' guy.
Funny thing is...Hunter is nice around Vere because she’s his first real friend. He also can’t seem to stop sharing his secrets or keep her out of his heart. Knowing he’d never deserve a girl as sweet as Vere, he resigns himself to the friend zone, and helps his new bestie with her own makeover.
She tortures him daily for ridiculous guy advice on how to snag her life-long crush. A guy Hunter thinks is totally wrong for Vere, and sadly, one who has taken note of Vere’s transformation.
When Vere asks her best friend for some kissing advice, Hunter can’t resist...
And that’s when things get out of control...
My take:  This is a very sweet romance. I absolutely loved it.  It was like being young all over again, in the best way.NAJessica Park Flat-Out Love   He was tall, at least six feet, with dirty blond hair that hung over his eyes. His T-shirt read Nietzsche Is My Homeboy.
So, that was Matt. Who Julie Seagle likes. A lot. But there is also Finn. Who she flat out loves.
   Complicated? Awkward? Completely.
But really, how was this freshly-minted Boston transplant and newbie college freshman supposed to know that she would end up living with the family of an old friend of her mother's? This was all supposed to be temporary. Julie wasn't supposed to be important to the Watkins family, or to fall in love with one of the brothers. Especially the one she's never quite met. But what does that really matter? Finn gets her, like no one ever has before. They have connection.
But here's the thing about love, in all its twisty, bumpy permutations—it always throws you a few curves. And no one ever escapes unscathed.
Flat-Out Matt   Matt is a junior at MIT. He’s geeky, he's witty, he's brilliant.
And he’s also very, very stupid.
When beautiful, cool, insightful Julie moves in with Matt’s family, why (oh why!) does he pretend to be his absent brother Finn for her alleged benefit?
It seems harmless enough until her short-term stay becomes permanent. And until it snowballs into heart-squeezing insanity. And until he falls in love with Julie, and Julie falls in love with Finn.
But … Matt is the right one for her. If only he can make Julie see it. Without telling her the truth, without shattering them all. Particularly his fragile sister Celeste, who may need Julie the most.
You saw Matt through Julie’s eyes in FLAT-OUT LOVE. Now go deeper into Matt’s world in this FLAT-     OUT MATT novella. Live his side of the story, break when his heart breaks, and fall for the unlikely hero all over again.
Take an emotional skydive for two prequel chapters and seven Flat-Out Love chapters retold from his perspective, and then land with a brand-new steamy finale chapter from Julie
My take: Matt is the sexiest geek ever! I love a smart man.  If Matt were real I would fight Julie for him. Jessica has a publisher now, but these were indie books first.  And you can't miss the Face Book posts in the book. They are hilarious.

SportsRaine Thomas
For Everly    Determined to overcome a dark and tragic past, college student Everly Wallace is only months away from earning her degree in physical therapy. She’s consumed with school, caring for her ailing grandfather, and figuring out how to pay the next bill. The last thing she wants is a relationship, but it just might be the one thing she needs.    Major League pitcher Cole Parker hasn’t fought for anything in his life. He went from a privileged upbringing to a multimillion dollar All-Star career. But when his pitching shoulder starts to give him trouble at only twenty-four years old, he faces the possibility of his injury becoming public knowledge and costing him everything.
In a desperate bid to save his career, Cole decides to hire someone to treat his injury, someone who will keep things off the record and out of the media. He finds the perfect solution in Everly. As mysterious as she is beautiful, she provides an enticing distraction from his pain. Soon, physical therapy is the last thing on his mind.
When an act of betrayal brings the truths they both fear to light, Cole will have to fight for the first time in his life…not just for his career, but for Everly’s love.
Meant For Her    Photographer Sierra Stratton views the world through a lens all her own. She has an uncanny sense about people, something that often causes her trouble. When she meets the sexy and brooding Evan Dorsey, her intuition tells her he’s suffering, and she wants to be the one to help him.
Evan isn’t open to help from anyone, however. His focus is on his Major League career and making himself as marketable as possible for his upcoming free agency. He plans to ride out the season in Atlanta and then sign with another team, away from the painful memories that haunt him.
Someone’s eager to send him on his way, too. Between anonymous threats and equipment sabotage, it’s clear he’s earned himself an enemy along the way. To him, it’s one more sign that he’s right to move on.
But Sierra threatens his conviction. Her contagious smile proves hard to resist, as does her kiss. She tempts him in ways he never anticipated, making him question his plans for the first time. If he’s not careful, she might just convince him that he’s meant for her.
My take: I love this series. I can't pick which of these I love more.  This series has hot baseball players, suspense, and a sweet love story.

Tessa Teevan
Ignite   After nearly a year and a half of grieving the loss of her husband, twenty-seven year old Alexa Sullivan Tate is headed back to her hometown after a decade of being away. She has no idea her high school crush, Jace McAllister, the guy who stole her heart the same night that he broke it, is more than ready to pick up the pieces.
Jace has spent the last ten years in the Army defusing bomb after bomb, trying to forget the girl who ignited all his passions. Little does he know that the spark still exists.
Ten years ago they had smoldering chemistry, but the spark between them now might light a fuse that leads to an explosion even Jace can't stop. Not that he wants to. If only Alexa can get past her guilt and trust her heart again.
But how do you put it all on the line when you've already lost everything once before?
My take: I'll be honest. I haven't had time to read this one past the first page because I've been busy writing. But it is rare when a book grabs me completely in the first paragraph and this one has. I can't wait to read it.
ParanormalAlyssa Rose Ivy Flight (Crescent Chronicles 1)
Sometimes you just have to take flight.
A summer in New Orleans is exactly what Allie needs before starting college. Accepting her dad’s invitation to work at his hotel offers an escape from her ex-boyfriend and the chance to spend the summer with her best friend. Meeting a guy is the last thing on her mind—until she sees Levi.
Unable to resist the infuriating yet alluring Levi, Allie finds herself at the center of a supernatural society and forced to decide between following the path she has always trusted or saving a city that might just save her.

Focus (Crescent Chronicles 2)     Freshman year of college is hard even when you're not tied to the future king of a supernatural society.
Allie dives into college head first with Hailey as her roommate and the city of New Orleans as her backyard. As things within The Society heat up, Allie realizes that whether she’s with Levi or not, she's in far too deep to turn back.
Found (Crescent Chronicles 3)    Levi might be hot, strong, and have a cool set of wings, but it's not enough to make up for keeping Allie in the dark.
Allie's tired of being left with more questions than answers. She's tired of loving a guy who refuses to level with her. Most of all, she's tired of her life spinning out of control.
Desperate to save Jess no matter the personal cost, Allie has to face the possibility that the only one she can trust is herself.

My take: This is one of the most unique paranormal romance series I have ever read.  I love it. Levi is my favorite supernatural character.
Suspense
Ellisa Reese Falling (On the Banks of Lake St. Clare 1)  Alex Dillard and her friends live a slow life in the small town of Noel. They spend their summer people watching; either at the baseball park, or at the local hangout. Life is peaceful and almost boring, (unless you count the usual cheer squad drama), until Michael Williams, a jaw-dropping athletic hunk moves to town.
Mesmerized by Michael's good looks and charm, Alex fears he is way too perfect her. Their fairy tale love is more than puppy love as they discover what love is together.Sweet lovable popular Alex could never hurt anyone, but seems to have made enemies all over town. When her friends find her naked in a pool of blood, and left for dead, people are left to wonder who would possibly want to harm such a sweet girl and start to doubt her story.    Life can change in a heartbeat, something Alex discovers firsthand. Has the trouble followed the love of her life to town? Will he stick it out? Who is falling for Alex?
Forbidden (On the Banks of Lake St. Clare 2)   Erica Gallo is described by her friends as the “promiscuous one.” Although, they seem to disapprove of the numerous guys she has boasted about, they like to live vicariously through her, making the small, sometimes boring town of Noel, a little bit more exciting at times. But things aren't always as they seem, when Erica finds herself in a string of lies and cover-ups. Is there something she is trying to cover-up? Is she dealing with an addiction too strong to combat? The four friends seem to all be going in different directions. While her best friend Alex, is blinded by the “perfect love,” Erica’s double-life may tear their friendship to the ground. Can she juggle her best friend and her forbidden love?
My take: This is a great series that is chock full of romance, suspense, and humor. The second book really made me re-examine what I thought happened in the first one. I love all the characters, even some I started out hating. I can't wait for the third book!
K. D. Carrillo Self Destruct (Destroy 1)     Becca Scott spent years burying her traumatic past under alcohol and boys.

My take:  This is my book, but a year after writing it the characters are still with me.  I miss being with them, and look forward to visiting them again when I begin the sequel within the next couple of months.
