What do I call my Sunday?

April 7th, 2013

Sunday Blog nameOkay, so the week has flown past, and not only do I still not have a name for my Sunday blogging, but I don't even know what I am going to talk about this week. So, I've decided to kill two birds with one stone. (That's an awful saying, really, poor birdies) and blog about possible names for my Sunday blog. Funny, ha ha.
Here is what I have thought of so far - a few favorites. I'm not sure why I am sticking with the alliteration other than it is catchy, but I may have to travel farther for inspiration.
1. Sweet Sundae (this is for my mum and dad who own an icecream shop, like the play on words?)2. A Sunday Sail (sailing is one of my favorite sports)3. Forever Sunday (Sunday is my favorite day)4. In the Saddle Sunday (horses and riding are close to my heart)
So what do you think?  I would love everyone's input. xo Cd Brennan

A Huge Day for Watershed

April 3rd, 2013

April is going to a massive month for Watershed. Not only, does the PRINT copy come out today, but my Sizzling PR starts today as well!

So first things first....

WATERSHED out in PAPERBACK!Ok, it looks like I'm shouting, but that's because I am! Yeehah! Finally, after many long months of trial and error, cover and interior design, proofs and more proofs, I am totally chuffed to announce that you can now buy Watershed in Print.

This is a very special day for me. Yes, I was beyond excitement when Watershed was released to the world as an eBook on March 4th, but there is something so magical about having your first creation sit solid on your bookshelf. So that you can pick it up and thumb the pages, smile, knowing that one of the dreams you pursued and one of the goals you set yourself, has come to fruition.

So, without further adieu, you can hold Watershed in your hands. Currently only available through Amazon, but watch this space, as it will be distributed by Lightning Source/Ingram within the next couple of weeks.

For Australia, the UK and Ireland   For the good ol' USA

Launch of Sizzling PR TourToday also starts my book tour for Watershed, and also happens to coincide with Spring Break with the boys. The tassy-devils are running around the house wild as it's too cold to go outside yet...maybe this arvo, as these boys need to run!
But while we are inside would love for you to drop by at TWO blogs today. I'm honored to be hosted by both.
My first hop on the Blog tour is at Theresa Stillwagon's - a special spotlight of Watershed. Spotlight!!
With Christine Warner, I talk again about Being Irish - in heart and soul. There are many of you kindred spirits out there, so pop in and say Hello. What to Read Wednesday

Giveaways in AprilWhat a day for celebration! Where is the Champers???For any fans out there, I'm helping to celebrate by giving away TWO Paperback copies and ONE eBook copy of Watershed.
To enter to win the Paperback, you have to be a Goodreads member in US, Canada, Australia and the UK.2 Free Copies of the Paperback
To enter to win the Ebook copies, the contest will run April 24 - 26th on The Romance Reviews. This is in honor of Anzac Day. Even though we now live in Michigan, my husband reminds me almost daily that we are still Australians. Bookmark the page now!  1 Free copy of the eBook

Easter Sunday

March 31st, 2013

Sunday InspirationHappy Easter everyone! As I posted on FB and tweeted also: For however you want to celebrate, for whoever you want to praise, whatever it means to you, I hope you have a great Easter Sunday.
With Easter brunch wrapped up and kids tucked into their Easter baskets, I've started to get right into it again with promotion, writing and editing. Because we haven't opted for day-care for our youngest boy, I work around my husband's work schedule, so I squeeze time in here and there, everywhere. In the past, Sunday was reserved as a family day, and honestly, I'd like to get back to that ritual.
DrivingI remember from when I was younger the Sunday Drives my family would take after a big lunch that followed sunday school and church. As I kid, I loved this. It wasn't a huge deal, but for some reason, very memorable for me. I'm hoping when my family settles into a better routine, we can pick up the Sunday Driving like I did when I was young. Sometimes my folks had a destination planned, other times, we just took off to see what the day had in it. Exploration and adventure on a very simple level, but obviously for a kid, it was more than enough.
RelaxingLike Maggie in WATERSHED, Sunday is my favorite day of the week. Always has been. Most folk dislike Sundays because it means that the next day is Monday, and the start of the work week. Even though I no longer have a traditional work week, even when I did, I loved Sundays. Very few things are scheduled on a Sunday, so it's a day where there is little pressure to do anything, no expectations and no commitments. It's a day where we can potter about inside or outside the house. No school, a couple of movies, lots of play and lots of downtime.
BloggingSince I now work as an author and an editor, have a young family, lots of promotion for my recently released book, I feel its all getting a bit on top of me. So I have decided that, unless there is something absolutely spectacular that happens during the week, I am going to only schedule a blog to release every Sunday. If I have a week to be inspired by something, I'm hoping it will be a something that is worth reading about. I just need a name...Super Sunday? My Sunday Best? Any ideas???? They are most welcome! Again, if you leave a comment, they will come through, but it will take a bit. Because of spam, I have to moderate everything! I need a cool comment widget that makes sure a person is not a computer and posts the comment right away. Hmmmm, I must look in this. +Rory Haddon any ideas?
Signing off with an EX-OH --Cd Brennan

A MacDonald in the Midst

March 29th, 2013

A MacDonald in the MidstThis post is for my heroine Lizzy, who has traveled from Australia to Scotland in A STONE'S THROW in search of her Scottish heritage, but also to figure out what she wants in life. And, of course, finds love along the way with the talented architect, Hamish Skene.

MacDonald Crest*By sea and by land*

I just sent my R&R back into my Editor at Lyrical Press. The changes that we discussed have really made the story that much better. So fingers crossed I have a release date soon!

Writing With Wee Ones

March 27th, 2013

Writing With Wee OnesThis may be a fast post, for the exact reason that I am writing about. I have two young boys, one in preschool and one at home with me, not yet a year and a half. I try to juggle writing and editing with their care, which is priority. And let me tell you, my 17-month old gets into everything! He is not yet old enough to watch cartoons at a stretch and will play for short periods on his own, but much of my day is keeping him entertained and away from grabables. Even when I do the dishes, he empties the pots and pans cupboard. He is constantly on the go!
But then I hear about all these other mums writing and taking care of their young families. A big shout out to them for we are all in the same situation. We very much want to do something for ourselves, follow our dreams to become an author, make it in the publishing arena. Yet, we also want to be good mums. I don't want to let me kids watch cartoons all day so I can write. That wouldn't happen. So what I do, and what most other mum-writers most likely do, is squeeze writing into any crevice of time you can find - naps, when the hubby is home an hour before dinner, and then most often after they are tucked away to bed at night. After books are read, bottles are fed, tummies are rubbed, you can finally turn your attention to a much needed plot or characterization.
I never watch the telly, wouldn't have a clue what is happening in the newspapers. I'd like to be more up on current events, but something has to give when so little time is available in the day for yourself. It's not ideal to write like this, peeking in and out of a book. Sometimes, it takes me a bit to get back into the rhythm of the storytelling again, and by the time I get 500 words done, I'm so buggered that I can't keep my eyes open.
So today is the day I want to applaud my fellow mum-writers, let's keep going. In the midst of snacks, tantrums, and poo changes, we are still able to design and execute a story worth telling. Admirable in its own right.(okay, gotta go, wee man is on my lap again)
Have a great day!

A Coupla Things

March 19th, 2013

A Coupla Things going on todayI can't believe the snow we are getting right now in Northern Michigan! What the??? As many know, this is my first winter back in Michigan since we moved from Australia last summer. I was very much hoping for a nice easy winter to transition into, but mother nature had other plans. Unlike Queensland, where we used to live, the weather was pretty much the same every day. Now, I check the weather channel or website at least twice a day! I'm obsessed with the weather now. And I wonder...why? I do have two young boys, so knowing if I can take them out in the tundra is one reason. The other is that I am simply looking for good news. Which I have to stop doing, really, or I'll drive myself insane. I see that many parts of the US and even over in Ireland and the UK are having same crappy weather, so I feel for ya. First day of Spring is tomorrow, but it feels like a world away. So, let's brighten things up a bit...Happy BirthdayFirst, I want to wish my big sister a very Happy Birthday! She now lives in Brazil, near Salvadore. She is loving living over there at the moment. I swear when I talk to her, her life sounds like one big Carnivale! Good on ya, KC, you deserve it! Hope you have a great birthday! xoxo

Author SpotlightI'm visiting over at one my favorite Lyrical sister's websites today. The lovely Mae Clair is spotlighting Watershed for me and has been too nice in her introduction. She is a much better writer than I, so am honored by her words. Stop by, have a cuppa, it's too cold and snowy to venture outside.

Subscription not workingFor any of you that have tried to input your email to get a subscription for the blog, I am so very sorry, as I know it isn't working. I have a friend trying to help me at the moment, as I am useless about these RSS feeds and all this stuff. I didn't realize being an author, I should have minored in Graphic Design and Computer Programming. Ugh!
