Sundae With Nuts - Anne Conley

February 2nd, 2014

Welcome to another saucy episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Anne Conley!

Sundae with the Nut Anne Conley1.Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather?  I prefer silk, but usually end up with cotton…
2.Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both?  Clark Kent.  Totally.

The latest Mr. Kent! (Anne, I didn't know which Clark Kent you loved best, but I think Henry is devine, muah)
3.What language, when heard spoken, makes you frisky? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda)  Any accent that isn’t American pretty much does it for me…Aussie, British, Irish, Scottish, oooh Scottish.
4.What vehicle, abode, beach, construction site or other locale did you lose your virginity.  By the side of a lake.  Sounds romantic, but it was in fact, not.  Losing it in the dirt?  Ugh…
5.Do you believe in love at first sight?  Yes
6.If you could play a board game during sex, what would it be?  Twister sounds fun…
7.Any special “toys” you’d like to give mention to for their outstanding achievements?  My magic bullet, and not the cooking variety…
8.I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love?  Depeche Mode, or Erasure’s Somebody.
LISTEN HERE TO "SOMEBODY"
9.Most romantic or sexiest destination out there.  Any beach.
10.Who was your first crush or kiss?  My best friend’s boyfriend.  Yeah, it was bitchy, but I was thirteen and completely ruled by hormones…
11.If you become a best-selling author and sell your movie rights, what will be the first thing you do when you hear? Other than contact Cd Brennan and offer to share with her, of course.  Probably take my mom out to a fancy dinner
12.I wanted to be a helicopter pilot and a cowgirl when I grew up (still do). What did you want to grow up to be when you were a little girl?  An Air Force nurse.  Then I discovered an intense fear of flying, and that idea went out the window.
And last but now least.
13. Favorite ice cream flavor.  Anything chocolate
* * * *Welcome Miss Anne! So happy to have another Texan Nut on Sundaes. I peeked over to your Author page on Amazon and saw that you are raising some fine children and goats while writing! Nice. My hubby and I have a dream to raise goats and chickens and buffalo, maybe some sheep - but we're not quite there yet. Hell, we are just trying to make it through this winter of 2014! We've got snow up to our eyeballs in N. Michigan.
I loved your answer to #10 - if you can't be honest at this point in your life, really? In fact, I find the most honest and disastrous answers I give, are the ones that everyone gets a kick out of most. Well done. And Magic Bullet? Hmmm...wonder if I can get a link for my followers? LOL
My favorite time of putting these posts together has to be when I search for a link for the music on Youtube. Always a Friday evening, I end up listening to all these old songs, while typing and sipping my glass of Red. I was huge in Depeche Mode and Erasure. I must have been to a half dozen of their concerts. My husband still thinks I'm a 'tard for it. We defo have different tastes in music. But for the half hour that I get my Nut post ready, every Friday, I have a wonderful swing down memory lane. Ah, the era of the bangs (fringe)!
Miss Anne has a Valentine's novella out, GAMBLING ON LOVE. Start getting in the mood now and indulge! xo

Sundae With Nuts - Pippa Jay

January 26th, 2014

Welcome to another saucy episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Pippa Jay!

Sundae with the Nut Pippa Jay1.Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather? Silk
2.Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both? The ones I write about. ;)
LOVE this sexy cover of one of Pippa's characters! She has some fine fantasy characters in her head. Mmm-mmm
3.What language, when heard spoken, makes you frisky? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda) I’ve just been researching Cajun French and I’ve really fallen for it, although it's as much the accent as the words.
4.Do you believe in love at first sight? No.
5.I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love? Crowded House, Fall at your Feet
LISTEN HERE(love this acoustic live version)
6.Most romantic or sexiest destination out there. Anywhere alone with my man.
7.I wanted to be a helicopter pilot and a cowgirl when I grew up (still do). What did you want to grow up to be when you were a little girl? A Jedi Knight.
8.If you become a best-selling author and sell your movie rights, what will be the first thing you do when you hear? Other than contact Cd Brennan and offer to share with her, of course. Scream!
And last not but least.
9.Favorite ice cream flavor. Double chocolate chip.* * * *
Miss Pippa is a lovely colleage from across the pond and I'm so glad to have her here today. First thing I did was youtube Crowded House's, Fall at Your Feet. The song still makes my stomach clench when I hear it, so many memories. My hubby and I went to see the Finn Brothers play (they were no longer Crowded House after the suicide of their drummer) at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin when we first started dating. It was the same time I started listening to Powderfinger. Obviously with the intro of my Aussie boyfriend, my interest in Antipidean bands awakened.
My favorite answer of Miss Pippa's (LOVE, love her pen name) was #7 as I fancy myself a bit of a jedi when I play with my boy's life sabre (with them of course). A most excellent answer - noble and courageous and cool as f**k.
And lookee what we have here? A NO for #4 - I knew I wasn't the only one, although last week I admitted myself into the "YES" club, so really I guess I'm either riding the fence or fickle as hell.
Miss Pippa, would you like to give us some Cajun French in the comments, please?
* * * *Check out Miss Pippa's latest sexy Sci-Fi romance, Terms & Conditions Apply - with an ending, I heard, was a powder keg. Nice! Put this baby on your TBR list!

Sundae With Nuts - Jenna Jaxon

January 19th, 2014

Welcome to another saucy episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Jenna Jaxon!

Sundae with the Nut Jenna Jaxon1.Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather?  Peach silk tap pants
2.Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both?  Sean Connery
I love this pic of him! How dreamy was he back in the day?
3.What language, when heard spoken, makes you frisky? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda)  English, spoken with a Scottish accent (do you see a pattern emerging?)
4.What vehicle, abode, beach, construction site or other locale did you lose your virginity.Boringly, in a bed.  I have moved on to more interesting sites since.
5.Do you believe in love at first sight?  Absolutely!  I write about it all the time and it did indeed happen to me once.  I do still love him, even though I’m not married to him.
6.If you could play a board game during sex, what would it be?  Risk!
7.Any special “toys” you’d like to give mention to for their outstanding achievements?Woody from Toy Story?  Wrong toys I bet.  Well, Buzzy does come to mind…and not Buzz Lightyear!
8.I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love?“You’ve Made Me So Very Happy” or pretty much anything by Blood, Sweat, and Tears
LISTEN HERE
9.Most romantic or sexiest destination out there.  Paris!  Mais, oui!
And last but now least.
10. Favorite ice cream flavor.  Pumpkin Spice--and by the time this blog posts it will no longer be available.  Je suis tres desolee!
* * * *
So, I wonder if our Miss Jenna is Canadian? She knows her French! I laughed out loud to #4 and #7 - because really I read way too much in her Woody answer, but that must be my dirty ol' mind. Woody and Buzz - oh my, I will never watch the movies the same again!
And another resounding ABSOLUTELY for #5. How could I have missed this in my life? Perhaps I may still have the opportunity - mabye my hubby will go away on one of his work trips and when he steps back through our door, I'll just look at him and think: Absolutely. Or perhaps it won't be with a man? Perhaps it will be love at first sight for a pair of shoes? Nope, nope, I'm rethinking this all. And yes, I have fallen in love at first sight. With both of my boys, as soon as they were born. So now, I feel I am part of the club! Yippee!
Miss Jenna, my folks have an ice cream shop, as many know, and one of their biggest sellers late summer, early autumn is the Pumpkin Pie Flurry - spicy pumpkin (special recipe) with crushed vanilla wafers, whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Yummy!
* * * *
Miss Jaxon's ONLY SCANDAL WILL DO is a sexy historical romance that will keep you enthralled. And you're lucky! It is still on sale as a paperback at: http://www.amazon.com/Only-Scandal-Will-Jenna-Jaxon/dp/1616504323/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390065367&sr=8-1&keywords=only+scandal+will+do
Or keep in touch with her to find out when the eBook will be back online after the Kensington switch. http://jennajaxon.wordpress.com

Winter Wonder Man Blog Hop

January 16th, 2014

Welcome hoppers!
hdthomson.com
So glad you stopped by! So today we're talking about what makes a hero in movies and books wonderful to the point your toes curl. Hmm...well this is very subjective I'd say! For me, it's all about his inner passion. I personally prefer a man strong in his convictions, steadfast in his focus and dreams. Loyal and brave are a must. And I have to admit I tend toward more of a quieter man, noble in his few chosen words but actions straight from the heart.

Some of my favs from over the years:
1. Darcy - Pride and Prejudice
2. Howard Roarke - The Fountainhead
3. Aragorn - Lord of the Rings
5. Lloyd Dobler (what a name!) - Say Anything
6. Hans Solo - Star Wars

Who has made your toes curl? I'd love to hear so leave a comment below!

LIKE my Facebook page and enter to win a free eBook of WATERSHED, Book 1 of the Love Where You Roam series. Book 2, A WORLD APART, will be out March 3rd, so might as well start with the first one! :-) I'll also be giving away an ARC of A WORLD APART during my Valentine's Day Gift Hop February 10th - 15th (see footer below)

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Make sure you stop by the many other talented authors participating in this blog hop.

Sundae With Nuts - Eden Ashe

January 12th, 2014

Welcome back for another year of Nuts!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Eden Ashe

Sundae with the Nut Eden Ashe1.Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather?
Cotton. Bright, fun colors. Preferably superhero-ish.

2.Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both?
Aragorn, without a doubt. The way he loves Arwen...wow. He’s one of the reasons I write romance. Which also leads me to my full-on girl crush on Arwen.

3.What language, when heard spoken, makes you frisky? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda)
Toss-up between cowboy drawl and Scottish brogue. It’s the deep voices. I’m a goner for a deep, sexy voice.

4.What vehicle, abode, beach, construction site or other locale did you lose your virginity.
A car, and that’s all I’m sayin’.

5.Do you believe in love at first sight?
ABSOLUTELY.

6.If you could play a board game during sex, what would it be?
Star Wars Trivial Pursuit. Because adding sex is probably the only way the husband would agree to a challenge.

7.Any special “toys” you’d like to give mention to for their outstanding achievements?
I would, but my mother may read this, and she scares me.

8.I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love?
Can I have a list? In no particular order-
Pictures of You by The Cure, followed very closely by Just Like Heaven.
#1 Crush by Garbage (Seriously, how can you not be turned on by that song? Sheesh, she scorches my speakers every time it plays)
Whatever It Takes by Lifehouse (I’d never get any writing done without Lifehouse)
And last but not least, anything by Pearl Jam. My husband got me to agree to go on a second date with him by saying the words “I sound like Eddie Vedder when I sing”.  Considering my deep and abiding love of Pearl Jam, I was a goner then and there--even if it wasn’t true. (He’s currently forbidden from ever singing a Pearl Jam song out loud.)

Listen to The Cure here - Pictures of You
9.Most romantic or sexiest destination out there.
The beach. Any beach.

10.Who was your first crush or kiss?
Atreyu, from The NeverEnding Story. He had this kind of bad-boy thing going on, and I do love me some bad boy.

11.If you become a best-selling author and sell your movie rights, what will be the first thing you do when you hear? Other than contact Cd Brennan and offer to share with her, of course.
Hire a maid. Scotland (the husband) has promised.

And last but now least.

12. Favorite ice cream flavor.
Strawberry. Yum!

****
Oooh, I am so excited to have my Nuts back! Seriously, I missed my Sundays with the lovely ladies over the holidays. I missed the LOLs and the awwws, I missed the oo-oo-me-toos and the fun. No one better to start off my new year of Nuts, than the Dragon girl Miss Eden. I absolutely adore her. Can you tell what a fascinating person she is just by her answers? I mean, really. Superhero knickers? ABSOLUTELY. (I love her answer for number 5, so sure is she. Even though, if you've seen my Sundae, I don't agree. Maybe I need to believe, eh?)
Need to get a few pairs myself. Perhaps a batman G-string and some sexy Spidy hipsters. Hold onto that youth, don't go quietly into that good night of grandma panties. I'm 42 and rounded at the midriff but who's to say I can't wear cute or sexy? DATS RIGHT. We can!
Ah...Atreyu...be still my heart. I married a bad boy, too. And Pictures of You... I listened to my tape of Disintegration so much it disintegrated. Is there a Star Wars Trivial Pursuit? Seriously? I imagine so, they have everything else out there. So if you like deep sexy voices, cowboys a-singin' - what about that Clay dude from American Idol past? Does he do it for you? LOL
****
Since Lyrical authors are the right in the middle of the Kensington switch-a-roo, I don't have any buy links for The Dragon's Heart. But I do very much recommend you read it. I have and it's so damn good, full of sexy dragon men and sweet scenes of love.
Check out Miss Eden's website for all the details when it will be online and hot again.

Lyrical Call for Submissions - January 2014

Call for submissions January 2014*Forwarded from Lyrical's blog*

Lyrical’s first official call for submissions as an imprint of Kensington.

Please keep in mind this is just a general wish-list. This isn’t what we are limited to considering. You can find the full range of what we are actively acquiring here. Remember, we’re all about publishing great books, so even if your story doesn’t fit with this wish-list that doesn’t mean we won’t consider your romance or erotic romance work. Please visit Submittable to find the best category that fits your story when submitting.

Sports themed romances and erotic romances. We’d love a super sexy hero with a career in baseball, football, MMA, hockey, etc.
Military romances. We would love to showcase the brave men and women coming home us.
Tormented sexiness (think H.M. Ward) set in all subgenres of romance and erotic romance.
Urban erotic romance with raw, scorching sex. These works should be dark and gritty along the lines of Kit Rocha.
Erotic romance with multiple partners.  Go ahead and try to shock us. I dare you.
This is not a time sensitive submissions call. There is no deadline when submitting these types of works.

Required word count: 25,000 – 110,000 words.
Submit to Lyrical Press: https://lyricalpress.submittable.com/submit

Sundae With Nuts - Year in Review

January 5th, 2014
Happy New Year! It's 2014 and the older I get, the faster the years go by. Woosh!
But today is all about my Nuts from 2013, the courageous and funny girls who bared their hearts for us to laugh at. LOL. I mean, who bared their hearts for you, the readers and followers, to know a bit more about what makes them the person they are, and how that muse travels into their writing and books.
So! Let's take a look at all the Nuts, and get some nominations going for the Besty Nut of 2013. Me excluded please. Because the winning NUT gets an ARC (ebook) of A World Apart and a $10 Amazon Gift Card. And of course the prestige of the award!!!

Who made you laugh hardest? Who had the most creative answer? Who had the most "interesting" answer? Who touched your heart? Place any new nomination into the comments field. Any others that agree, reply to that comment! You can even say why, what you remembered from the Nutty post. Or just state the name. Bold and beautiful. The Nut with the most comments--no matter what the nomination--wins! So they can win for being the silliest or sweetest or sauciest. We all know that each and every Nut is special, but someone needs to wear the crown!

**Their name is a hotlink to their Sundae With Nuts post. Or if you want anymore information about the lovelies, I've added their website for you to peruse at your convenience :-)

Steven Zacharius, President and CEO, Kensington Publishing Corp., says, “This deal delivers on Kensington's mission to publish the books that America wants to read and to be the house that talented authors want to call home.  The ability to have a digital imprint that works efficiently like a small independent press is what first attracted me to Lyrical.  With Renee Rocco’s cutting-edge expertise in running a small independent press and Kensington's team of talented professionals, we look forward to building new and existing authors while expanding the titles published under the Lyrical Press imprint.”
The imprint will be overseen by Adam Zacharius, Kensington’s Director of Special Projects and Alternative Media.  Renee Rocco, who founded Lyrical Press in 2007, will be Managing Director of the imprint.

The acquisition includes approximately 250 romance, YA and genre fiction titles in the Lyrical Press backlist. Kensington will immediately begin acquiring new titles for Lyrical Press, as well as expanding its publicity, marketing and editorial departments in order to dedicate the resources necessary to supporting and growing the new imprint.  All eBooks published under the Lyrical Press imprint will be DRM-free and books over 60,000 words will be available as print-on-demand editions.

Happy Holidays HO HO HO

December 22nd, 2013

Merry Christmas my Nutty friends!
I love this pic. Now, why didn't I think of that? On Christmas Day, in the midst of the chaos and family everywhere, you'll find me tucked into a tree with a glass of wine. Okay, no arms, that may be a problem, but I'm sure I can hook up a type of extended straw from the star cup holder that I'll rig. Who says you can't drink wine from a party cup? LOL

No nut, today. I scheduled a couple of days off around the holidays. To take a wee break and to get my family's holiday sorted. Phew. It's been a big year! And I still have plenty to do before Christmas Day, even some last minute shopping and haircuts for the boys, which I am sure will be such a pleasant experience. Even if I go toting early gifts, I still may need to hold 'em down!

But do mark your calendars for Sunday, January 5th where I will do a year-in-review for Sundae With Nuts. A kind of Best-of, and take nominations for the BEST NUT of 2013!

In all seriousness, I've had a wonderful year as an author. My debut WATERSHED was released in March in both digital and Print and I entered into the world of romance publishing. A very proud moment, not just for me but my family. That extended pride and support from your loved ones makes it all the more special. And I've only just begun! The next book in the Love Where You Roam series, A WORLD APART is due out in March 2014, almost a year to the day for Watershed.

I participated in NaNoWriMo, where I completed half of PARAIC, the first book in my Rugby, Love & Other Stuff series (current title ha ha). I didn't win the NaNo, but I got a huge chunk of it done and a great start to the book and series. Hoping to have the first draft done by March. That's my goal, but lots depends on my kids!

One of my biggest successes this year was this Sundae With Nuts blog. I have almost 15K hits on my website and have hosted some awesome authors, all while having fun and a laugh. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday. All my guests have not only earned a spot in the Nut Hall of Fame, but have also earned one in my heart. Seriously. The lovely ladies that volunteered to bear their souls with such bravery and humor have all my admiration.

So, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all my Nuts, and all my followers, anyone who has read WATERSHED, and all those excited for A WORLD APART. THANK YOU and may you have a wonderful, fantastic, brilliant, memorable, outrageous Christmas this year. And wishing you health and happiness for 2014. Happy reading!

xoxo Cd Brennan
