Sundae With Nuts - Daisy Banks

November 10th, 2013

Welcome to another saucy episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Daisy Banks!

Sundae with the Nut Daisy Banks1.Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather? Most days lacy trimmed silky stuff but I’ve always believed the best days are no knickers days.
2.Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both?Male, but I daren’t share his name with you. Some secrets must be kept.
3.What language, when heard spoken, makes you frisky? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda)I like some Scottish accents and Irish accents can keep me spellbound. I think it’s in the blood. I like Southern States accents too. When I visited New Orleans some years ago it was heavenly listening, just delicious.  I love voices, there are some so distinctive and compelling. I think one of the most precious things is the individuality of the voice of new baby.
4.What vehicle, abode, beach, construction site or other locale did you lose your virginity. In the comfort of a double bed and I’ll say no more.
5.Do you believe in love at first sight?Yes.
6.If you could play a board game during sex, what would it be?Can’t I have Twister? Though technically it’s not a board game is it. Hmm, then I have to chose something long winded that might take hours, maybe chess.
7.Any special “toys” you’d like to give mention to for their outstanding achievements?I gather we aren’t talking what was top of my children’s Christmas lists but really we should be as their toys and games kept them quietly amused and offered special times for me and DH.
8.I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love?I think the song, ‘It’s got to be perfect’ by Fairground Attraction sums it up. I’d done second best and it hurt. This song was everywhere when I fell in love again. In case you don’t know it, here’s a link so you can play it.
It's Got To Be Perfect
9.Most romantic or sexiest destination out there. For me I have to say St. Lucia is my favorite romantic destination. The island is beautiful in so many ways. I was lucky while there and got to see far more than the ordinary tourist sites. DH is clever at organizing stuff like that. My fondest memory is of swimming in the pool filled with warm water from the geothermal heat of the volcano. The sexiest most compelling place has to be Glastonbury Tor. The place oozes magic. I walked it with DH and not long after we made a beautiful baby boy. No, not there on the top of the Tor, honest.
10.Who was your first crush or kiss?My first crush was on our local paper boy. Every day before school I’d wait to see him. He was 15, I was 12 and thought he was divine.
11.If you become a best-selling author and sell your movie rights, what will be the first thing you do when you hear? Other than contact Cd Brennan and offer to share with her, of course.Faint! LOL. I think I’d tell all those nearest and dearest. If serious money was involved I’d help my family and friends. If even more money and I am talking lots, was sloshing into my bank account I’d create an arts foundation to support young artists and writers, dancers and actors. I’d buy a big country house and have it set up and endowed as a holiday centre for children with disabilities and their families. I’d make sure my boys had enough to keep them safe but not enough for them to live unproductive lives.  If there was anything left, I’d buy an ice cream in Bridgnorth and book a holiday somewhere I’ve not been before. I’d like to visit Australia and New Zealand to meet some friends I have there. I have a longing to visit Maine in the USA and meet a very special person. Who knows, one day I might do these things.
12.I wanted to be a helicopter pilot and a cowgirl when I grew up (still do). What did you want to grow up to be when you were a little girl?I grew up in one of the poorest boroughs in England. In the era of my childhood expectations from teachers and the community seemed to be small scale. I definitely know some people thought I was an oddity and I expect some of them still do.
When I was 5 I wanted to be a pirate. I was devastated when I was told I couldn’t be a pirate and that big three masted sailing ships had been replaced. Another thing I wanted to be was an archaeologist. Being told aged 11 it was unlikely I’d become an archaeologist, as I was at the wrong kind of school and no one had taught me Latin, was upsetting. I also had the idea I’d be a writer. Not many people thought I’d do that either. Somehow through the strangest quirks of fate I met a wonderful person who helped me in so many ways to write. I remain deeply grateful to that person who gave me the opportunity to fulfill my dream.
And last but now least.
13.Favorite ice cream flavor.Rum and raisin, in a chocolate dipped cone, bought from the shop at the top of the Carter’s Hill in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, England.
* * * *Such a pleasure to have another Lyrical sister from across the sea. I love my cousins of the British and Emerald isles, so much that I will buy a cottage there some day when I either A)become bestseller like Miss Nora or Mr Child or B) someone is brilliant enough to know that one of my books would make an awesome movie. I can dream big. Miss Daisy has inspired me. Why? Her answer to #12. There is nothing worse for a child to be told they can't do something. And I hate (and I don't use that word very often because I'm teaching my 5-year old he can't say it) people that have Tall Poppy Syndrome.
If you haven't heard of it, it's where they don't  like the idea of others getting bigger than their britches. They revear the underdog more than the norm, and belittle those who dare aspire to greatness because it makes them feel better about themselves. Okay, hopping off the soap box.
All I can say is that I am so very very glad that Miss Daisy found her way to becoming a writer, for a fabulous author she is. I've had the pleasure to read one of her stories.
I must get to Glastonbury Tor, not because I want anymore kids (sweet divine no, the two I have is PLENTY), but the combination of magical and sexy has to be the place to go.
Oh and geez, I'm blathering on, but there is nothing that makes me more nostalgic (okay a few other things) than the thought of a paperboy. There aren't any here anymore, but there were when I grew up in a small middleclass neighborhood that was the entity of my childhood and adolescence. Aw shucks. A good first crush. * * * * I'm going on and on more these days, I need to shush up!
If you love historical romance, then Miss Daisy Banks is the author to read!

Sundae With Nuts - Naomi Stone

November 3rd, 2013

Welcome to another saucy episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Naomi Stone!

Sundae with the Nut Naomi Stone1. Who was your first crush or kiss?First crush: Rocky the Flying Squirrel (I was five years old). He was cute, and so talented: flying! And he was a hero, always doing the right thing and foiling the villains, and inspiring the loyalty of his good buddy, Bullwinkle.
2. Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both?I call him Zoltan. He exists only in my own imagination, a modern-thinking gypsy who loves only me, with a passion. He is dark-haired, with dark, flashing eyes. We make music together, singing and playing in duet. We share a love of books and art, and a commitment to a better future for humanity. We are involved and well respected in a larger community of friends and family who appreciate our creative energy and inspire us in a thousand ways.
Not Zolton, I know, but Depp sure can do a hot Gypsy!

3.What language, when heard spoken, makes you frisky? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda)English - with a Hungarian accent
4. If you become a best-selling author and sell your movie rights, what will be the first thing you do when you hear? Other than contact CD Brennan and offer to share with her, of course.Undoubtedly, I'll let out a whoop that can be heard across two counties, then spread the word to tell all the friends who have believed in and supported me, particularly my critique partners and fellow members of Midwest Fiction Writers. I'll be on Facebook and Twitter and LiveJournal To make sure everyone of my acquaintance, friends and family hear about it. I may actually be moved to pick up a phone and call a few people.
5. Do you believe in love at first sight? An inexplicable, lightning-strike-awareness of another person, in which we suddenly recognize how very lovable and desirable that person is? Yes; I'm sure it happens all the time. It has certainly struck me, and there's plenty of anecdotal evidence - and the whole romance novel industry - supporting the notion.
6. If you could play a board game during sex, what would it be?Good sex occupies my entire attention and, sorry to say, a game would be an unwelcome distraction from my partner and the impulses of the moment. Unless it were a game we invented between us that required no additional props or pieces.
I play a lot of board games, and they usually involve three to six players of various genders and ages, few with any romantic appeal for me. Besides which, I like to have my head in the game; I'm afraid sex would be an unwelcome distraction when I'm trying to figure out whether I can afford one of the properties in AlHambra, or which of my tiles might fit where in a Quirkle layout, or what I can do without any vowels in Scrabble. Likewise, any very vigorous sexual activity would be very likely to upset the board and game pieces. No, when I'm playing games I like a nice solid table between the players and a simple, friendly atmosphere.
7. I wanted to be a helicopter pilot and a cowgirl when I grew up (still do). What did you want to grow up to be when you were a little girl?A mermaid, a wood sprite, a trapeze artist, a time traveler, an astronaut, Robin's sister Blue Jay in the Batman universe… I never could seem to settle on any one thing, but had a lot of fun imagining being and doing all kinds of different things. One of the reasons I love reading is that it allows me to identify with many different people, living in different circumstances, pursuing different paths: from growing up in the big woods and on the prairie with Laura Ingalls Wilder, to traveling between planets with Podkayne of Mars, adventuring in Middle Earth, to solving mysteries with Kinsey Milhone, to detailing the adventures of the people who live in my own imagination. I've also done a lot of different things in my actual grown-up career and this multi-faceted approach to life all feeds into what makes me a writer.
8. I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love?I associate different songs and artists with different men in my life. Anything by Pink Floyd reminds me of one guy (this was not a happy relationship), anything by Joan Armatrading reminds me of another (he compared my voice favorably to hers). There's another guy I associate with the Renaissance Festival and thus many period songs in a certain updated style remind me of him. More often I like to sing and perform songs on mandolin that remind me of the various ways I've felt about love and life: everything from old Renaissance folk songs to modern pop and blues and silly filk songs about fantasy and science fiction themes.
A little Joan for you :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oag3I4VRXyM
9. Most romantic or sexiest destination out there.OK; this is me you're talking to. The most romantic/sexy destination out there has got to be one of our (Twin Cities) several local science fiction conventions. We've got everything from the small 4th Street Fantasy convention with it's focus on the craft of writing, to CONvergence with its thousands of attendees and total lack of focus -- allowing a celebration of everything from media, to anime, to books, to gaming, to costumery, to you-name-it. This is sexy to me because it's all about exciting the imagination and sharing that excitement with like minds and being involved with a larger community. I'd probably enjoy a vacation destination at a tropical beach, or secluded ski lodge, but I wouldn't feel as emotionally involved as I get with the f/sf conventions, and emotional involvement makes everything more significant and engaging.
And last but not least.
10. Favorite ice cream flavor. This is a topic that's torn me in different directions for years now. Mint Chip or Cherry Nut? Cherry Nut or Mint Chip? I cannot order an ice cream cone without having a scoop of each. Oddly enough, when I go to a DQ, I have to have a Buster Bar; it's all caramel-chocolate-peanutty goodness then.
* * * *
A pleasure having you today Miss Naomi! You sound like such a free spirit, an artist with your writing and music. I picture you gypsy-like, flowing long dresses, dangly earrings, long dreads. Am I close? ;-) Or am I doing a cliche, which all writers should avoid? LOL
So many wonderful and inspiring answers, funny too. I love your answer to #1 - have to say that's original. Rocky, the flying squirrel? He is a bit of a cutie. But my favorite is #7, everything you dreamed of when you were younger, and perhaps still do today. Because I agree with you, all that daydreaming in our youth has built the writers we are - right here, right now. Without it, we'd never make it as romance authors, I reckon. Because you need a little of #5, a dash of #6, mix it well with #7 and there makes a good storyteller.
Oh, and please see my previous post in regards to MCC. We won't go there today. But Cherry Nut? NICE.
Please show Miss Naomi all the love in the world and stop by to check out Wonder Guy. I love the concept of a fairy godmother for the hero instead of the heroine. Sure, all of us ladies know they need it more :-)Naomi's website   Twitter   Facebook

My NaNoWriMo

November 1st, 2013
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)
November is National Novel Writing Month, and for the first time ever I am going to attempt 50K words by the end of it. Not such a good start, as today is the first and I have yet to write a word, BUT I have all intentions to try my darndest to meet that goal.

NaNoWriMo
My largest hurdle, other than two young boys that take up most of my time, is my editorial background. I need to leave that editor voice behind - or better, kick it to the curb completely, and just write. Let the words flow uninteruptus.

So, what I am writing? I already have the third book in the Love Where You Roam series started, so I could have finished that (even though the rules are you start a NEW novel). But instead, I decided to start clean slate and work on the first book in my rugby romance series.

Series is set in Traverse City, Michigan with visiting hotties from Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand and Australia who play for the Traverse City Blues rugby club. They all fall for a lovely lady along the shores of Lake Michigan. Very hot and dreamy.

Stories are written in ONLY the male POV (different for a romance novel, but I can pull it off - poo, no worries). Books are named for the hottie, whether their real name or nickname. This is what I have so far, but of course, may change if the lads yell loud enough. :-)
Book 1: Paraic
Book 2: Jones
Book 3: Bro (hmmn...not sure about this)
Book 4: Chief (or Mattie perhaps)

Perhaps you can help with the series name as I still am undecided. Kicked around a few ideas.
Rugby Love
Playing the Field
Scrumdelicious

What do you think? Leave me a comment below, I'd love to hear what you reckon!

The stories:Think gorgeous + muscles, tough + athletic Rugby sportsman who fall crazy for strong sweethearts in this series. There's gonna be great craic and maybe a few tears. The Haka, teabaggin' (ask a fella), some brawlin', tough-as-nuts playing, and lots of steamy lovin'.

Rugby men are sexy! As proof, below. Can Carter plays for the New Zealand All Blacks.

Okay, the first day is almost over and I have to get to it!! Wish me luck!
xoxoCd

Sundae With Nuts - Samantha Holt

October 27th, 2013

Welcome to another saucy episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Samantha Holt!
Sundae with the Nut Samantha Holt1.Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather?
Silk. This is not a vanity thing. I just find them sooo much more comfortable.

2.Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both?
Henry Cavill of The Tudors and Superman and Sienna Miller is my girl crush. I wouldn’t say no.

3.What language, when heard spoken, makes you frisky? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda)
Not a language but I love the Welsh accent.

4.What vehicle, abode, beach, construction site or other locale did you lose your virginity.
A single bed in my boyfriend’s bedroom.

5.Do you believe in love at first sight?
No…?

6.If you could play a board game during sex, what would it be?
I’m not a fan of board games. I get too competitive. I could see me storming off halfway through which might defeat the point!

7.Any special “toys” you’d like to give mention to for their outstanding achievements?
The Xbox for keeping my husband entertained while I neglect him for my imaginary men.

8.I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love?
‘Promise Me’ by Beverley Craven.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LMC-2Y-Emw
9.Most romantic or sexiest destination out there.
I love York, England. It’s a beautiful city with an amazing history.

And last but now least.

10.Favorite ice cream flavor.
Don’t have me taken away but I don’t like ice cream.

* * * *
A huge thank you to Miss Samantha for being a Nut! I know, it's very scary indeed, to reveal tidbits of yourself, especially on a personal level. But kudos to Miss Samantha for admitting she doesn't like ice cream at all! I'm still calling in the Queen of Hearts. Off with her head! Perhaps you haven't had a good experience with ice cream. Perhaps, there are alternatives one can think of with chocolate syrup...
Miss Samantha is a Lyrial sister from across the sea, and I wonder what she thinks of all the Nuts who dissolve at the sound of an English accent. I noticed she is into Welsh. Is Fireman Sam, Welsh? I thought it was the Welsch accent, but perhaps she can tell me!
Linked up "Promise Me" above -- have a listen. Beautiful. And I am now a Henry Cavill fan. Sweet divine. Is he a Brit, too? All the really sexy ones out there seem to be at the moment. Lucky girl, Miss Samantha! Surrounded by yummah!
The lovely Miss Samantha's newest release is To Steal a Highlander's Heart. Goodness, I love a man in a kilt and this looks HOT. Do check it out.

Sundae With Nuts - Tera Shanley

October 20th, 2013

Welcome to another saucy episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Tera Shanley!
Sundae with the Nut Tera Shanley1.Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather?
Three of the four are decorating my lingerie drawer at the moment but I’m going with cotton. Not boring cotton though – Victoria’s Secret cotton with bright colors, animal prints, and pretty cuts. Comfy-smexy.

2.Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both?
Charlie Hunnam (Jax from Sons of Anarchy) is delicious. I don’t usually even go for blonds but good lawdy him on a motorcycle, or him fighting monsters in Pacific Rim, or basically any second he spends without a shirt on…I’m rambling…one more! Have you ever heard him in an interview? You’d never know it but he is…wait for it…British!

3.What language, when heard spoken, makes you frisky? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda)
I WOULD say Tagalog because my husband is Filipino, but since he only learned the word ‘fart’ and a slew of curse words in his native language, I’m going to go with any language or accent from Scotland (Diana Gabaldon and her Outlander series are to blame for this obsession).

4.What vehicle, abode, beach, construction site or other locale did you lose your virginity.
In a two-man underwater submarine with a school of frenzied great white sharks swimming around us. Just kidding, it wasn’t anything exotic. Lost the old V-card in a fancy hotel room on my wedding night. Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were involved. It was kind of AMAZING! (my song choice below will now make sense;)

5.Do you believe in love at first sight?
Yep! I saw my husband from behind (he has a lovely behind) on the first day of college classes, and before I even knew his name, I told my roommate at the time I was going to marry him. I just knew. And five years later, I did.

6.If you could play a board game during sex, what would it be?
Not really a board game but strip poker would be my jam.

7.Any special “toys” you’d like to give mention to for their outstanding achievements?
Camera.

8.I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love?
The Waiting (Is the Hardest Part) by Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers. Really anything from Tom Petty because my husband was (still is) obsessed with him and his enthusiasm was catching.

9.Most romantic or sexiest destination out there.
Hawaii! We went there for our honeymoon and I’m borderline desperate to go back with my dude. Like, sell a kidney with little remorse desperate.

10.Who was your first crush or kiss?
First crush was a boy in my kindergarten class named Travis King. He put his jacket around my shoulders once on the playground and I asked why he did that. “Saw it on TV,” he replied. Swoon. My teacher called a parent/teacher conference with my mom and dad because she was worried I was headed to floozyville at the tender age of five.

11.If you become a best-selling author and sell your movie rights, what will be the first thing you do when you hear? Other than contact Cd Brennan and offer to share with her, of course.
I’d buy big land and build a tiny house! And then I’d buy horses…lots and lots of them. I’ve been literally asking for a horse for every single holiday since I was three. *shakes fist* One of these days I’ll wear someone down enough to say yes.

12.I wanted to be a helicopter pilot and a cowgirl when I grew up (still do). What did you want to grow up to be when you were a little girl?
A veterinarian. My poor mom had to deal with me bringing every furred and feathered creature I could find home with me. When I mention that time I brought a ferret home to live with us, she still gets an eye twitch.

And last but now least.

13. Favorite ice cream flavor.
Strawberries & Homemade Vanilla from Blue Bell

* * * *
Ooooh, so many good ones, where do I start? First, just have to say it's such a pleasure to have Miss Tera as a Nut. She is one of the shiniest, most positive authors out there. Seriously. And you know what? I reckon that energy comes around, eh? Tera is raging a path as a very successful author. So hear ye, everyone. BELIEVE.
Okay, on we go. OMG, where did you get that pic of Charlie Hunnam. If I was 15 years younger, I'd write him a postcard. Love your one-word answer to #7 LOL. No explanation needed. And you lost your V-card on your wedding night? No wonder you write romance! You're a believer! (Cue Monkeys, I loved that song Daydream Believer). I think I have a theme going here.
Favorite Petty song for me? Even the Losers. Had a house in college we called the Loser House and that was our theme song. Oh god, we were so dramatic back then, but feckin' good memories.
Oh, and stick with Tagalog - make him learn it and whisper it to you as you sup over a lovely romantic dinner. Nothing sexier than from someone you adore.
And my dream if I ever strike it big is also land and horses, like you Miss Tera. Yeehah, girlfriend, that is one dream I won't let go quietly into that goodnight. Horses are my totem, my animal spirit, and with them, I must reside.
* * * *
Tera Shanley's, LOVE IN THE TIME OF THE DEAD, looks absolutely amazing! It is available October 22nd, so mere days away! Join her and you'll not forget!

Lyrical Press News: Introducing category erotic romance

October 16th, 2013

Lyrical Press goes in a new direction
**Permission to forward/post/share**
Going forward, Lyrical will focus on erotic romance, with a tremendous push of category erotic romance. Sure, we know other houses are doing category, but we're going where not many have ventured. Lyrical will dare to put a new spin on classic category romance. Rather than fear putting a toe past the invisible line and stop at steamy, we're going straight to erotic romance. Since Lyrical has always been an equal opportunity publisher, we welcome LGBT writers to contribute to Fervor, a line specifically branded for LGBT category contemporary erotic romance.

Lyrical loves breaking rules. With that in mind, we're increasing the ‘traditional’ category word count to 50,000 - 80,000 words. This ensures every category book will have a simultaneous digital and print release.

In fact, every Lyrical book over 50,000 words will be have a simultaneous digital and print release beginning November 2013.

Each category line will be a fully branded and unique Lyrical Press imprint.

Category erotic romance
Entice: Category contemporary erotic romance
Enigma: Category contemporary suspense erotic romance
Fervor: LGBT category contemporary erotic romance

Will we still publish non-erotic romance? Absolutely. Non-erotic romance will be published under the umbrella of Lyrical Presents: Romance. This will tell readers, at a glance, these are non-erotic books. These books will carry an unobtrusive branding, that will not intrude on the beauty of Lyrical's cover art. I know that might be a concern for some readers and authors, who come to Lyrical specifically for our cover art.

Lyrical will also open our house to erotic romance serials. These are books 90,000 - 150,000 words. Serials will be released monthly in 25,000 word installments, attractively priced at $1.99 each. Each serial must be fully edited prior to being broken up into installments. With serials, we want your taboo stories. We want danger, excitement. Shock us. I dare you.

Sundae With Nuts - Mae Clair

October 13th, 2013

Welcome to another saucy episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Mae Clair!

Sundae with the Nut Mae Clair1.Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather?Silk. I’m spoiled that way. :-)
2.Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both?I’ve been in love with Jim Caviezel ever since I saw him in Frequency. When he did the Count of Monte Cristo, (especially that bit at the end with the billowy white shirt and black waistcoat), I was a goner. Lately, I’ve also been fixated on Robert Carlyle as Mr. Gold in the show Once Upon a Time. I know it’s an odd choice, but the combination of Scottish accent, long hair, and impeccably tailored clothing works for me.
Ooooh sexy eyes!3.What language, when heard spoken, makes you frisky? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda).I love an accent, especially British, Irish and Scottish. You didn’t seriously expect me to pick just one? That would be like picking my favorite cat!
4.Do you believe in love at first sight?Absolutely. I fell in love with my husband the moment I saw him.
5.I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love?Come Sail Away by Styx. It was “the song” the year I met my husband.
6.Most romantic or sexiest destination out there.A small coastal town with a seaside B&B and my hubby.
7.If you become a best-selling author and sell your movie rights, what will be the first thing you do when you hear? Other than contact Cd Brennan and offer to share with her, of course.Retire! What writer wouldn’t want to write fulltime? Of course, I’d also do a lot of celebrating, jumping up and down and blathering like a lunatic.
8.I wanted to be a helicopter pilot and a cowgirl when I grew up (still do). What did you want to grow up to be when you were a little girl?Even as a kid, I dreamed of being a writer. It’s the single ambition I’ve focused on my entire life. At various times I also dabbled with the thought of pursuing a career in natural sciences or history. If I was able to pick a career today, I’d want to be a cryptozoologist. Unfortunately, they make even less than a part-time writer, LOL.
And last but now least.
9. Favorite ice cream flavor.Mint chocolate chip (despite the fact my husband insists it tastes like mouthwash!)
* * * *I'm so glad to finally have Miss Mae as a Nut! I don't think my Sundaes would have been complete without her. A brave girl since I know she likes her privacy - which I can totally respect. I, on the other hand, seem unable to stop blabbing about my past. Probably because its so feckin' rediculous you have to laugh!
So, I see Miss Mae agress with many of my Nuts with the accents. I do believe I am going to start an audio book company - the slant would be sexy as hell male accents reading the story (they could be scary ugly as Shrek, but you wouldn't know, would you?) - of course you have to set the books in Ireland, Scotland, England or Wales. Or like my last guest, Hungary? :-)
And I oh, so agree with your hubby, Miss Mae. Most of you know by now my folks own an icecream shop and out of all the flavors there are today, why Mint Choc Chip? It DOES taste like mouthwash! But my dad says it is still one of the top sellers. Go figure. I suppose you can have a dessert and an after dinner mint in one go.
Miss Mae, can you please give my guests a rundown of what a cryptozoologist does? :-)
A talented author and a lovely gal, please check out Twelfth Sun by Mae Clair. I am smitten with boats and the sea and there's nothing dreamier than a sexy man on board!!

Sundae With Nuts - M.V. Freeman

October 6th, 2013

Welcome to another saucy episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) M.V Freeman!

Sundae with the Nut M.V. FreemanThank you for having me on, I am excited--
1.Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather? I want Silk; but I end up with cotton. Ah the reality of my life. Wait, I’m a writer… thong
2.Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both?  I favor males who are tall, symmetrical and muscular think: Dwayne Johnson the Rock, or Michael Fassbender.. delicious.

3.What language, when heard spoken, makes you frisky? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda) Russian. Seriously.  Just…Swoon.
4.What vehicle, abode, beach, construction site or other locale did you lose your virginity? San Francisco—but where? Hmm….
5.Do you believe in love at first sight? I believe in infatuation and lust at first sight, but love, comes after. Which is why I am married to the guy I thought was a “jackass” at first.
6.If you could play a board game during sex, what would it be? I’m not a board game player. At this point I’m thinking anything involving rolling of the dice.…
7.Any special “toys” you’d like to give mention to for their outstanding achievements? I’m assuming you’re not referencing a coffee maker or press, because without that I and everyone around me is doomed.
8.I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love? I admit to the long haired band days and it *will* date me:  White Snake: Here we go again.   Back then oh so cool…
9.Most romantic or sexiest destination out there. Two places: San Francisco, or New Orleans both hold an energy that just simmers. (Savannah is also on my list).
10.Favorite ice cream flavor.  Coconut chocolate swirl – addicting.
Thank you for letting me stop by! It was a pleasure.* * * *
The pleasure is all mine Miss M.V.! I heartily agree that my coffee maker and tea kettle are much more important these days than any sex toy! Or perhaps, not more important but way more necessary. I have a TWO year old that still doesn't sleep through the night. WTH?
And ooooh...I remember that White Snake video with Tawny Kitean. Now, I prefer males and don't even switch hit but even I can recognize the pure sexuality she radiated in the video. Sweet divine, she had it back then. I also had to look up Michael Fassbender, but I get such pleasure out of learning about a new sexy man out there. I've shared a good one above - so striking. (That's my hand by the way)
Can you share any Russian with us M.V.? Anything lovey-dovey? :-)
Do check out M.V. Freeman's latest release, Incandescent. Love the title M.V! From one of her reviews: " Incandescent has it all from a totally kickass heroine to sexy Russian alpha males. From page one; M.v. Freeman draws you in to a world full of Elementals, Mages and a vampire like species called the Darks, all living secretly among humans and desperately at war with one another."

Sundae With Nuts - Belle Maurice

September 29th, 2013

Welcome to another saucy episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!

Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Belle Maurice!

Sundae with the Nut Belle Maurice1.Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather?None. Cuts down on laundry.
2.Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both?Depends on my mood. Sometimes a tall skinny man, sometimes a small curvy woman, lucky for me I have a prolific imagination.
3.What language, when heard spoken, makes you frisky? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda)I depends on the speaker. I once met a very hot Hispanic American professional baseball player on a rainy night in a Mexican restaurant in Seoul, South Korea. His English was very tempting.
4.What vehicle, abode, beach, construction site or other locale did you lose your virginity?Front seat of a pick up truck in a church parking lot. I’m probably going to Hell for that and the gearshift was no joystick either.
5.Do you believe in love at first sight?Absolutely.
6.If you could play a board game during sex, what would it be?A good round of Dirty Scrabble is always fun.
7.Any special “toys” you’d like to give mention to for their outstanding achievements?Filipino boys (over the age of 18 of course). Oh wait, were you talking about boy toys or the electric kind?
8.I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love?My first boyfriend was a huge Styx fan. Dennis DeYoung’s Desert Moon I get nostalgic and a little embarrassed.
9.Most romantic or sexiest destination out there.Honestly, there are so many. It really depends on what you want. Venice is elegant and romantic. The Maldives and West Virginia are beautiful and secluded, perfect for privacy. Kuala Lumpur has an exotic vibrancy. You just have to know what you’re looking for.
10.Who was your first crush or kiss? Rick Savage of Def Leppard, but I suppose you’re going to say that poster didn’t count.
11.If you become a best-selling author and sell your movie rights, what will be the first thing you do when you hear? Other than contact Cd Brennan and offer to share with her, of course. How best-selling am I? Because I’ve promised my editor visits to my private island staffed entirely by Filipino cabana boys named Ben.
12.I wanted to be a helicopter pilot and a cowgirl when I grew up (still do). What did you want to grow up to be when you were a little girl? After reading the Walter Farley Black Stallion books I wanted to be a jockey, sadly my hips, my fondness for chocolate and my complete inability to find a racing stable anywhere near where I grew up ended that dream.
And last but now least.
13. Favorite ice cream flavor.Butter pecan, preferably London Dairy.
* * * *
Such a pleasure to have you here Miss Belle! Lots of good snarky answers, so where do I start? First, I want to reassure Miss Belle that a poster of a crush DOES count. I had a crush on John Cusack (dunno, don't get it now, but who knows with teenage hormones?) and I sent him a manly bracelot made out of fishing snapples. It was all the rage back in the mid 80s. And for #1, you are so right - I am for anything that reduces my laundry load.
My favorite though was your rite of passage for losing the V. I had a hearty LOL for that, too. So you joined the vehicle club - but in a church parking lot? LOL. I'm sure you aren't going to Hell for that. I had to pee behind a church on a snowy walk home one New Years Eve in Dublin. There were NO taxis, so my hubby (boyfriend at the time) and I hoofed it the 6 miles home. A bit of a distance but not too intolerable after a few (too many) pints. But holding out for a pee? Almost impossible.
Check out one of Miss Belle's latest releases, How Beauty Saved the Beast. I'm all for fairy tales!
