Sundae with Nuts - Lady Blade
May 5, 2013
Thanks for stopping by for another great episode of SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!
Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Lady Blade.
Sundae with the Nut Lady Blade
1. Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather? Leather…*wicked grin*
2. Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both?Vin Diesel…would pay a cool Million just to lay on his chest and listen to him talk!
3. What language, when heard spoken, makes you horny. (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda)Italian
4. What vehicle, abode, beach, construction site or other locale did you lose your virginity.Back of my 1979 Ford F-150
5. Do you believe in love at first sight?Ahyep
6. If you could play a board game during sex, what would it be?Monopoly…*another wicked grin*
7. Any special “toys” you’d like to give mention to for their outstanding achievements?B.O.B. He’s such a good man! Though I do wish he’d learned to carry in the groceries now and again. No, wait…kinda hard with no arms, or fingers, or well, legs for that matter
8 .I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love?Anything by Def Leppard
9. Most romantic or sexiest destination out there.Anywhere in Ireland or Scotland
And last but now least.10. Favorite ice cream flavor.Fudge Ripple
Thanks so much for being a Nut, Miss Blade! So many great answers, where do I start? I totally agree with you on Ireland and Scotland - love it there! Very dreamy. And, OMG, Def Leppard, do I have stories behind that music. What's your favorite? Pour Some Sugar? Love Bites? There's an 80s rock band that could do the poofy poodle hair and still look hot. Maybe 'cause their British. At one point I will walk the walk and post my own answers, but I'll just say this. Miss Blade and I have something quite in common when it comes to losing the V. And Monopoly? What would you do to get out of Jail? :-)
p.s. What is B.O.B? Lady? Anyone?
Please visit Lady Blade to check out her latest book, AWAKENINGS, Book 1 of the Blood in The Moon series.

Sundae with Nuts - Piper Denna
April 28, 2013
So this is the debut of my blog SUNDAE WITH NUTS where I have asked my fellow authors to join me for the day for a bit of fun and a laugh. We are romance writers after all!
Without further ado, I am most pleased to introduce the lovely and talented (and very brave!) Piper Denna!
Sundae with the Nut Piper Denna1. Favorite knickers: cotton, lace, silk or errr…leather? “knickers”. LOL. Sorry. Made me giggle. Ahem. Are we talking for me, or someone with nuts? Sorry again. For a dude, I’d have to go with cotton. For myself…I like to mix it up. Whatever’s cute and stays where it’s intended to be.
2. Who is your fantasy male or female? Or both? Everyone who knows me is aware I have a serious George Strait obsession. In a bind, Johnny Depp would do nicely.
3. What language, when heard spoken, makes you horny? (like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish called Wanda) Oooh, I love an Irish accent. Gets me all melty. But put on a French accent and I’ll throw up in my mouth a little. Not for me!
4. In what vehicle, abode, beach, construction site or other locale did you lose your virginity? My first apartment…well, technically. That’s all I can reveal here. LOL
5. Do you believe in love at first sight? Yes. And I also believe in the opposite: someone you’re not attracted to much at all, who can eventually be your soul mate.
6. If you could play a board game during sex, what would it be? Maybe “Risk”. And when you battle it out, the ultimate loser of their continent must also perform…some task?
7. Any special “toys” you’d like to give mention to for their outstanding achievements? GI Joe is so much hotter than Ken. Oh, wait, did you mean adult toys? Things that go vroom make a girl go hmmm. Right?
8. I *heart* Peter Cetera. What song immediately swoops you back to your “first days” of falling in love? Unchained Melody. Which, technically, I did not quite lose my virginity to. :)
9. Most romantic or sexiest destination out there. Anyplace with white sand, warm, clear water, and a tide.
And last but now least.
10. Favorite ice cream flavor. Anything with bits of Heath in it. Toffee is a gift from God.
Thanks for having me!
Thanks for being my first Nut, Piper! You are an absolute star for volunteering! I have to agree with your knickers answer, and the older I get, the less I like them inching up my bum. But my favorite answer was your #7 - GI Joe is totally hotter than Ken. In fact, I can't think of a toy (and I have plenty strewed around the house) that has ever topped GI Joe in the hotness field. Most definitely not Mr. Potato Head.

ANZAC DAY
April 25th, 2013
ANZAC DAY - Lest We ForgetToday is an important day for the remembrance of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps soldiers who fought and died at Gallipoli in 1915. It is also a day of remembrance for all soldiers who died while fighting for their country.
My family is half Australian, my husband from Goondiwindi, and both our sons born in Queensland. When living in Australia I also proudly received my Australian citizenship. It is important for our family to recognize this part of our heritage, too, even though we now live in Michigan. So that we may not forget, my husband and I will teach our children what this day means to Anzacs everywhere, and make sure they recognize this day for the relevance it has for them as an Australian.
-Cd Brennan
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning,We will remember them.

Sundae with Nuts #2
April 21st, 2013
Sundae with Nuts #2As usual I am late getting my blog up. For my Antipidean friends, Sunday is almost over! I meant to get this up Saturday night so it would shine brightly for all Sundays no matter where you are in the world, but after a long day yesterday, I was buggered. But better late than never!
Still thinking about what to write this morning, inspiration came in an email. First thing waiting in my Inbox was a "decline to review" Watershed. It was so bad that she couldn't finish the story and passed on doing any review. Fair enough.
I hummed and hawed whether to go into it, whether to say anything at all. It's not something you want to shout about, but then I believe strongly that this aspect of being an author is just as important, or even more so, than all the kudos, backslapping, raves and great reviews that come with a publication.
Not that I don't enjoy that! It's great to hear that something you have created has touched someone, brought them enjoyment, let them escape for a few days, brought a smile or even outright laughter to their day. And isn't that important enough?
And to have the understanding that there isn't one book for everyone. Watershed is a lighthearted read, simply put, it's about falling in love. The story revels in those "first days". It's about the butterflies, about the wonderment and confusion, it's about looking forward to seeing that person, just seeing them, even if it is only for a few minutes. It's that time of your life that rarely can be repeated, all the great emotion and buzz that resonates in your gut when you know something is building, something inescapable, something that will change your life.
My initial reaction was to defend Watershed, as anyone would do. But it's not about that. Nor is it about begrudging someone their opinion. My book is out there, and I chose it to be. I also choose to keep moving forward. I'm gonna feed off that great buzz that everyone has already given me, mix it up with some good strong criticism and become a better writer. With each book that I write, I will improve on techniques - plotting and character development, witty and fun dialogue, great description and pacing.
But as for Sundae with Nuts...I was talking to a colleague yesterday who said she loved the title of my blog: Sundae with Nuts. And then she asked, "who are the nuts?" Which gave me a GREAT idea. Sundae with Nuts is meant to be shared! With who? With you! I want to start a fun post for fellow authors, or for anyone really, who is brave enough to answer a few fun questions. Maybe along the lines of their favorite pair of knickers, or a bad habit that want to break. Make it real, make it funny!
Because even though I am a romance writer, I appreciate a good laugh in the day. So, watch this space and I hope to have something new and fun for next Sunday.
Have a great day!xo Cd Brennan

Sundae With Nuts #1
April 14th, 2013
Sundae With Nuts #1I finally decided on my Sunday blog title. My query on Facebook didn't work at all - not getting ONE response on the options I gave out to everyone. The names must have been pretty bad! So I picked an entirely new one on my own. It doesn't sound very romantic, and as a writer of the romance genre some may question why I chose SUNDAE WITH NUTS. Other than the fun play on words (as writer's do), it has more meaning than that. My parents have owned and run an ice cream shop for 36 years now. I grew up scooping ice cream, cutting up candy and stocking shelves. I stopped working for them 20 years ago, but that wee ice cream shop still stays dear to my heart, and a hot-fudge sundae with nuts is my favorite. No whip cream, no cherry, just vanilla, fudge and chopped nuts.
For my very first installment of SUNDAE WITH NUTS, I am proud to be a part of Sara Walter Ellwood's (a fellow Lyrical sister) Sneak Peek Sunday, a six-paragraph snippet from either a published book or a WIP. I love this concept, and by the look of her blog there is almost 50 of us signed up! As always, I'd love for you to comment, but since I have such issues with spam, your comment will go through moderation before it appears. But please feel free to say anything ya like!
Since I have already given followers on this blog the first chapter of WATERSHED (see blog history), I have chosen for Sneak Peek Sunday six paragraphs from "the morning after", when Gray and Maggie still resonate from the passion that has built between them. I hope you enjoy.

For Sneak Peek Sunday
Maggie melted. Tucking her head into the nook of his neck, she caressed his skin with soft kisses, humming her contentment. Her comfort ran so deep she could have slept on his shoulder, even with the rain forming rivulets down her face. Safe and complete, she rested there only briefly before Gray shifted and broke her reverie. He kissed his way down her chin to her mouth, tugging at her lips.
The energy shifted, their warm embrace turning heated. No matter how hard she pressed into him, it wasn’t enough.
She aligned her legs against his, her hips, belly and breasts, wrapping her arms snug around his waist to absorb as much of him as she could. In return she tried to express what was in her heart to him through her touches, summoning everything inside to the surface. Words would fail her. Never having experienced anything like this, Maggie couldn’t even conceptualize what was happening to her, let alone communicate it to Gray in words.
Dizzy, she stepped away, breathing hard. Gray was the same, panting, water streaming into his open mouth.
“Oh God.” The words were barely a whisper.
Gray gently cupped her neck. She could feel the thudding of his heart. He gently kissed her forehead. “Will you stay here with me?”
