Three generations of women…and the secret that strengthens their love.

A line of women, all named Amanda, stretches back for generations. Each with her hopes, her joys, her pain—each pouring out her heart in correspondence with a dear family friend who shares their lives, understands their loves, and joins in their sorrows.

But within the correspondence lies a secret. And as the youngest of the Amandas retraces the journey through the years—beginning in post-war America and following through to modern day—the letters reveal, layer by layer, the Amandas who came before her. Soon, the truths and lies hidden in the letters lead her down a path of self-discovery that forges a bond between her past and future.

Frisky Friday ~~ Casting Fender Bender Blues

You know what time it is!!!

Yes! It’s #FriskyFriday and I’m casting Fender Bender Blues. But I need HELP!!! You see, I cast Fender Bender Blues already, but so did a friend of mine, Casse NaRome. So, now I’m on the fence… Who makes the best Rach and Craig for Fender Bender Blues???

I’ll give you a little taste…

Here’s a little snippet from the book, and one of my favorite scenes:

Just one little nudge, she thought and leaned closer to go in for the kill. He deserved it. She almost giggled at the thought of dumping him on the floor. She sucked in her cheeks to keep from smiling and edged closer still…

“Classic cars, garden gnomes, and steamy romance? My kind of book!” ~Bestselling Author Kate Perry

Fender Bender Blues is a fun, flirty romantic comedy. My cast for Fender Bender Blues is…

Rach-Chris_Pine

Chris Pine as Craig Larsen in FBB

Rach-Amy-Adams

Amy Adams as Rach in FBB

Casse’s cast is…

Josh Duhamel

So, now that you’ve seen my cast and her cast, who would YOU pic to play Rach and Craig in Fender Bender Blues? If you wouldn’t choose any of the actors above, who would you choose??? Make sure to comment below!

Thanks for stopping by :)

“Reading Niecey Roy’s FENDER BENDER BLUES is like eating Lays Potato chips. Once you start, you can’t stop! It’s just that good! For a new (non-fattening) addiction, read Niecey Roy!!! ~Robyn Peterman author of HOW HARD CAN IT BE?

FENDER BENDER BLUES

Her life took a wrong turn. He’s driven by success. They didn’t count on crashing into love…

Rachel Bennett loved her job until the day she finds herself doubting her choices.  Now she’s hunting for a new career, but starting over isn’t easy.  Her plan is simple—no distractions until she finds her dream job.  She didn’t plan on fate throwing her a curveball in the form of a fender bender with a sexy guy in an expensive suit.

Craig Larsen is a wealthy, successful business owner with a plan of his own: survive his current PR nightmare and stay away from his overly determined ex-girlfriend.  His need for control and personal success is turned upside down when he meets Rach, a sassy redhead who can’t drive.

Soon they find themselves battling with Rach’s grumpy old neighbor, toilet-papering the trees of a high school nemesis, and fighting over the last slice of pizza.  Can two very different people plus one fender bender equal a chance at forever?

~~EXCERPT~~

“Now what?”

“Nothing.”Rach sniffed.

Craig shifted to eye her warily. “Since when do you answer me with single words?”

“Since I decided I’m not talking to you,” she answered with a shrug, crumpling up the white paper wrapper from her sub.

Craig leaned his face in close to her neck and enjoyed the startled jerk of her shoulders. Her eyes opened wide in surprise. His breath shifted a few strands of hair at the nape of her neck as he whispered, “Why, because you want me?”

“You’re incorrigible,” she said, breathless, her cheeks flushed.

She’s enjoying this. The thought pleased him. Rach was on her back beside him now, her eyes closed. He glanced around the park to see if anyone was watching. No one was. He could swoop in for a kiss and no one would catch him. No one would care, he told himself. She won’t mind

“I can feel you staring.”

Craig smiled down at her. “So what.”

She peeked at him with one green eye. “So stop it.”

“And if I don’t?” Maybe she’d tackle him, push him down on the blanket and…

She didn’t. She promptly closed her eye and went back to pretending indifference. “I’ll hit you, that’s what.”

“Not if I do this, you won’t.”

He’d only meant it to be a short kiss, but the pleasure of touching his lips to hers kept him there longer. Her tongue was velvet soft and warm against his and the slow mating of their mouths quickened his heartbeat even as he told himself, It’s no big deal, just a kiss.

She nipped his bottom lip and sent heat sliding through his body. The woman could kiss.

She whispered soft against his lips, “Now why don’t you admit that it’s you who wants me.”

Fender Bender Blues is a rip-roarin’ good time from start to finish. Filled with handsome men, crazy friends, and love scenes to rev up your engines, you don’t want to miss this one!” ~Amie Louellen, author of Brodie’s Bride and Love Potion Me, Baby

Throwback Thursday ~~ Laughter With My BFF

Throwback Thursday

I love #throwbackthursday :) It gives me a chance to browse through my pictures. Seeing all the pics saved on my phone reminds me how important friendship is. It also Good friends dontreminds me of a post I seen on Facebook the other day. Here it is…

And it’s true. They should be right up there making an ass of themselves, and you shouldn’t need to beg…much. ha!

I’ve been browsing through my photos on my phone all morning, and realized how lucky I am to have my bestie. She may not get up and sing her face off with me during karaoke (unless it’s her birthday and I’ve pushed one too many birthday shots at her), but she pretty much does everything else with me. Including (but not limited to, ha ha) laugh too loudly in public, debate politics  while drinking even when we know we shouldn’t, freak each other out over scary stories (that we’ve probably heard each other tell 100 times), and discuss our options for crossing the Atlantic Ocean when we win the lottery because she won’t fly.

Yes, we are silly. Yes, we sometimes sound like laughing hyenas when we are together, but it doesn’t matter. Because we’re together. And sometimes, we look like…

What I do know, is that every person should have someone in their lives they can be silly with, who will do things by your side, because when you have that, you know it’s also someone who you can be serious with, who will listen to you and be there when you need them.

Top Ten Tuesdays ~~~ My Top 10 Songs from 1997

Out of the Top 100 Billboard Songs of 1997…
So, Tuesdays is usually Top 5 Tuesdays, but it was way too hard for me to pick only 5 favorite songs from 1997 because the music rocked in the ’90s. Plus, I’m sure there are a ton of other songs I really loved, loved, loved in ’97, but I swear, my mind kind of went blank when I tried to remember them! The songs below popped out at me ;) 1997

Anyway, here are some of my favorite songs from the Billboard Top 100 in 1997. Every single one of these songs bring back awesome memories. 1997 was probably the BEST summer I ever had as a teen. I had a major summer crush, was grounded quite a few times and learned what it felt like to have my heart broken for the first time.

Aaaahhhh, and so began the sappy poetry of unrequited love, and from that bloomed the heart of a romance writer.

The Freshmen, The Verve Pipe
Hypnotize, The Notorious B.I.G.
No Diggity, BLACKstreet Featuring Dr. Dre
Do You Know (What It Takes), Robyn
Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?, Paula Cole
Mouth, Merril Bainbridge
If It Makes You Happy , Sheryl Crow
I Love You Always Forever, Donna Lewis
 Tubthumping, Chumbawamba
Secret Garden, Bruce Springsteen
You’re Makin’ Me High, Toni Braxton

What about you? What are some of your favorite songs from 1997???  Here’s where I found the Billboard Top 100 list:  http://www.musicoutfitters.com/topsongs/1997.htm

Some of these songs I had completely forgotten about until I read them on the website!

Thanks for stopping by Top 5 (10 today) Tuesdays :) Wishing you Sexy Smooches & Happily-Ever-Afters…

Elise Michaels’ motto has always been: no guts, no glory. She is a thrill seeker, continually craving excitement and adventure. Now, she’s forced to return to the place and the Sorcerer she so desperately sought to forget.

Elise has no idea the power and gifts that await her. Can she let go of her own desires and embrace her new role? Or will she surrender to the faceless evil coming for them all?

Frisky Friday ~~ If You’re Curious What I’m Up To…

Oh, what to do with myself…

I’m sort of in-between “jobs”. No, not the day time work you might be thinking of — I am happy, happy, happy up to my ears in legal work at the law office.

I’m talking about writing projects. I say in-between because I’m currently working on two different stories, and am unsure which one to jump into with both feet. I know there are people who actually prefer to have their head in two different projects. I’m not entirely sure why…maybe jumping from story to story keeps their creative juices flowing. I’m positive it’s not that way with me, mostly because I can’t write full time yet and I need to be married to one project at a time in order to get it finished.

I made a list of pros and cons for each story. Clearly, I have to be vague because I would hate to share too much too soon. That’s just how I work. I can say that novel is a straight up romantic comedy while the other is more serious contemporary romance and will probably involve a little bit of tears. But not too many tears, because I just don’t write like that. I hate being sad for too long. Of course, there will be heat, because no matter how many times I swear the next book will be a little bit more tame, possibly closed door, my characters rebel and rip their clothes off. I swear, they are out of control!

I guess I am just waiting on an email that will decide for me…

Rest assured, my little cupcakes, I will have words to share with you from my recently “penned” novel (and yes, I am old school like that, I did hand write some of the scenes because nothing is prettier than cursive on paper!). I want to blab, blab, blab about it, and I want to share the title with you all, but I can’t. Not yet. Because right now the fate of this fun little series is up in the air. I won’t know more until, well, I know more. So you will all have to suffer with me. But you are awesome like that, so here’s a cupcake for my little cupcakes. (If any of you live nearby I’d be happy to meet over real cupcakes, yum!) Thanks for sticking around to encourage me and give me a reason to keep writing. What would be the point if there weren’t readers like you to gobble up the words???

Random “Hump” Day ~~ Thor: The Dark World…so excited!!!

So I have a crush…sue me!

It’s not only that the hero in this movie I’m about to share with you is hot. Of course he’s hot. But the movie itself is going to be AWESOME, even without the hot-sexy added bonus.

Thor: The Dark World

thor-2-poster-2Can I just say YUM??? Of course I can! It’s Random “Hump” Day. Anything goes, bwah-haha!!! I loved the first Thor. Not only is Chris Hemsworth drool-worthy, but he’s an amazing actor. I loved, loved him in the first Thor. I absolutely adored him in Snow White and the Huntsman. And I’m sure I’ll feel the same after watching Thor 2.

Also, Natalie Portman is one of my favorite actresses. She’s got more talent in her pinkie finger than, well, me! And I happen to think my pinkies are A-mazing. These little suckers can type super fast and they also hook a spectacular pinkie-swear. Not to get off subject, but did you all see Black Swan??? If you haven’t, I urge you to watch it. The movie took me by surprise (I didn’t watch previews for it before I watched the actual movie), but it was Natalie Portman’s portrayal of Nina Sayers was magnificent. No exaggerations.

I just wanted to share some Film Love Up In Here today because it’s Random “Hump” Day, and this movie has been on my mind for a few weeks now. The romantic in me is already swooning…sigh!!!  Aren’t they breathtaking together???  I almost embedded the medium-sized poster instead of the full-size. I know, I know, slap my hand. There are no excuses for an almost blunder like that!

Anyone else excited to see this movie??? And will you see it in the theater???

I’m not a go-to-the-theater kind of girl, but I do make exceptions for certain movies. I’ll probably be in attendance at the big-screen for this one with my jumbo sized popcorn and jumbo sized soda. No judging! Everything must be jumbo sized for a movie like this  one :)

Pretty Little Liars…what the hell???

A Pretty Little Liars Rant…

Okay, so I have this addiction to teeny-bopper TV shows — drama, mystery, vampires, werewolves, mean girls. Whatever. Don’t judge.

It all started the day I hooked up Netflix on my kids’ Wii. Talk about a mistake. I swear, I’ve wasted so many hours with my damn eyes glued to the TV screen. I probably could have written three books instead of one over the summer! The whole purpose of disconnecting cable was to be more productive. Damn you, Netflix!

Okay, but on to the purpose of this rant-ified post. What the hell is going on with Pretty Little Liars??? Ugh!!!

Is anyone else getting completely annoyed and bored with the plot? I realize with TV shows, the whole purpose is to drag on and on and never get to the point until the very end. But something needs to happen, and I don’t mean Hanna’s mom getting framed for Wilden the Creep-o’s murder. Can I get a “Hell Yeah!!!” ???

Seriously.

ryan-guzman9

Ryan Guzman as Jake on PLL

I’m being a total lame-o fan-girl right now, but I Googled to see what’s up, and there was a post that Pretty Little Liars was given the go for a 5th Season. Which means this season will be another season of NOTHING HAPPENING. Couldn’t they at least do another shocking reveal of another A??? Or something. And could Aria please get (insert something here, I will insert “IT”) on with the hot martial arts instructor??? I mean…look at him! ‘Nuff said, Aria!

She needs some excitement in her life that does not involve sleeping with a teacher. Who, by the way, has lost all his intrigue. Now Ezra’s just a teacher lusting after his student (ick), while hot martial arts instructor guy needs to (insert something here, I will insert “get IT on”) with Aria. Oh, and I would just like to say, hot martial arts instructor better NOT turn out to be a bad guy. Like on Teen Wolf where Derek finally finds a girl and she turns out to be a crazy chick…like the last one. (I suppose this is why I write happily-ever-afters like Fender Bender Blues…)

And did you need to take away Emily’s dream of swimming? Sheesh. She’s already lost her house.

I think my major issue now with this show is all the majorly stupid decisions these girls are making (and just recently). 1. It seems unrealistic that NO ONE is telling their parents. It’s not like they killed Allison…so…duh??? 2. Emily, you stole that key and got your mom fired. Um…??? 3. Hanna, bury a gun? Don’t these kids watch CSI???

I loved so far every season. So hoping something turns around for this season. I’m feeling stuck in a rut. And since I’m that girl who will NOT stop watching until the end, no matter how painful it might get (I’m the same with a book!!!), I’m in this for the long haul. So please ABC, give me a reason to not rant on my blog.

bwah-haha!!!

Okay, end rant. But am interested in other people’s thoughts??? Maybe I’m the only one annoyed, ha!

Wishing you Sexy Smooches & Happily-Ever-Afters!!!

Linda LaRoque ~~ Writing Time Travel Romance

Why I Like to Write Time Travel Romances
by Linda LaRoque

While growing up, like most children, I watched Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, Rawhide, Have Gun Will Travel and other western television programs in black and white. Life in many ways was romanticized and fodder for a young girl’s imagination. I’d daydream. If I lived back then, would I be the banker’s wife, a poor farmer’s wife, the schoolteacher or one of Miss Kitty’s girls. Of course I had no idea what saloon girls did other than pour drinks and sit on men’s laps.

So, this love of things past carried over into my adult life. I went to college and trained to be a teacher, but loved my history courses. We learned interesting tidbits about politics and living in the white house. President Rutherford B. Hays, to the delight of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union banned wines and liquors from the White House. To get around the President’s decree, some staff and visitors injected oranges with vodka. It wasn’t uncommon to see people sucking on oranges. This ruling led Prohibitionists to vote Republican in the coming election.

I became a Home Economics Teacher (now called Family Consumer Sciences) but often regretted not getting a degree in history. Yet, studying Home Economics gave me the opportunity to learn about the history of dress, furniture styles and housing.

I digress here, but wanted to share my love of history which led to writing time travels that are set in the old west. The first one I wrote, My Heart Will Find Yours, I struggled with how I would make travel through time and space possible. A writer friend suggested I read up on ley lines, energy fields and ancient artifacts (ex. standing stones). While reading I also ran across data on spin torsion fields, a method used in the sequel Flames on the Sky.

I hope I’m successful in making my methods of time travel believable. And I want life in the past to be factual and credible when I send my heroine back in time to a prior time period. Oh, the fun I have writing these stories. We are so lucky to live in this modern time where things are so easy. Imagine, learning to cook on a wood stove, churning your own butter, wearing a corset and being restricted from what men considered unladylike pursuits. The hardest thing for my heroine, Texas Ranger Birdie Braxton, to cope with in 1890 is not being allowed to participate in unladylike pursuits—mainly police work.

I hope this gives you a little insight into why I write what I do. Thanks for stopping by today. Please take a look at my other books on my website. Birdie’s Nest is available at Amazon.com

 Birdie’s Nest

~~ Blurb ~~

BirdiesNest_Laroque_FinalTexas Ranger, Birdie Braxton boards the Brazos Belle to attend a costume party, gets tossed into the Brazos and when she’s pulled from the river she’s told the year is 1890. A fact she can’t accept … until she looks across the river to see Birdie’s Nest, her ancestral home, no longer exists.

Tad Lockhart is a content man—a prosperous rancher with a ladylove in Waco. He’s not interested in marriage and family, yet … until he pulls an unconscious woman from the Brazos who insists she’s a Texas Ranger from the year 2012.

As romance blooms between Tad and Birdie, she struggles to earn enough money to build Birdie’s Nest, and Tad strives to mold Birdie into a Victorian lady suitable to be his wife. Can Birdie give up dabbling in police work and other unladylike pursuits yet stay true to herself? When faced with an indiscretion from Tad’s past, is Birdie’s love strong enough to support her man and be the woman he needs?

~~ Excerpt ~~

His mother, Olivia Lockhart, listened intently as Tad talked. She enjoyed a good story and his tale of saving Miss Braxton titillated her interest.

“You say she thinks it’s the year 2012?” She fanned her face with her napkin. His mother wasn’t overly large but her face was often red, and she complained about the heat. “The poor dear. Do you think she’s crazy, son?”

“No, ma’am. Her blue eyes are clear as a bell and she talks rationally. If I didn’t know it was impossible, I’d believe her.” He took another bite of roast beef and swallowed. “She had a gun holster strapped to her leg and a Texas Ranger’s star pinned to it.”

She paled and the fanning increased in intensity. “You looked under her skirts?”

“No, Mother. The nurse who undressed her found it and turned it over to the detective in charge of the case. He showed it to me.”

“Well, thank goodness. All we need is another scandal to tarnish our good name.” She shot him a heated look. “If you’d just settle down, you’d –”

“Mother, don’t start that again or I’ll take my meals in the bunk house.”

She sniffed. “Well, I’m just saying, you’re not getting any younger.”

He laughed. “I’d hardly call thirty-five old.”

Her mouth turned down at the corners and she sputtered. “Well, I’m not getting any younger, and I’d like to dandle a grandchild or two on my knee before I die.” She fanned her face again. “At the rate I’m going, it may not be that far off.”

Tad blew out a breath. “Mother, you are not that old. I’ve seen you run up and down these stairs like a woman half your age.”

She pursed her lips and glared.

“When I find a woman who can keep my interest for more than a day, then I’ll marry.”

“What about that woman you’re keeping time with in town. What if she turns up pregnant and expects you to marry her?”

Thank goodness his sister was visiting with friends tonight. He didn’t want her impressionable young ears to be privy to his private affairs, which his mother considered scandalous.

“She’ll be sadly disappointed because I’ll not marry someone I don’t love. Plus, I’m not sure she’d be faithful.” As far as pregnancy, Doc Floyd kept him in a supply of condoms. Odd how the Comstock Law allowed a man to have access to them to prevent disease, but wouldn’t let him use them to prevent his wife from getting pregnant. Didn’t make a lick of sense to him. If he fathered a baby out of wedlock, he’d see the child was well taken care of.

“It’s a sinful relationship. God is going to strike you dead one of these days.”

                “Let’s drop the subject, Mother.”

“Mark my words, your clandestine affair will come back to haunt you.”

He didn’t know how secret the relationship was, but if it bit him on the butt, so be it. He was ready to call it quits anyway.
