Suzanne Fisher and Free Books!

In Mending Fences, Luke Schrock is back in Stoney Ridge from a stint in rehab (or two or three), hoping for a quick fix with those he hurt…until he discovers that making true amends is much more than a quick fix.

Before we meet today's author, I want to announce that the winner of the free copy of The Other Neighbor, by Gail Sattler, is:

adlcap16@...

Congratulations! We'll get your book right out to you. I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to learn about new releases! U.S. subscribers are entered in the drawings a second time when they comment.

And now let's meet novelist Suzanne Fisher, author of the contemporary romance novel, Mending Fences , Revell Books, releasing February 5, 2019.

Carol award winner Suzanne Woods Fisher writes stories that take you to places you’ve never visited—with characters that seem like old friends. But most of all, her books give you something to think about long after you’ve finished reading them.

With over one million copies of her books sold worldwide, Suzanne is the best-selling author of more than thirty books, ranging from non-fiction books, to children’s books, to novels.

She lives with her very big family in northern California.

Please tell us one random thing we might not know about you.

I play tennis. A lot! I just love the game—for exercise, for sport, mostly for fun. A much elderly woman (who beat me, as I recall) gave me this advice about tennis: “Never stop.”

My daughter and son-in-law are addicted to playing. It keeps them in great shape.

Please tell us a bit more about the plot of Mending Fences.

In the last year, Luke Schrock has been in and out of rehab three times, but now he’s back to stay. He’s returning to the Amish community of Stoney Ridge to seek forgiveness, one by one, from those he’s hurt through his behavior. In a way, for the Amish, that’s the easy part. The Amish community forgives him, but they don’t trust him. Especially Izzy Miller, a girl who’s savvy to a guy like Luke Schrock.

But Deacon Amos Lapp and Bishop David Stoltzfus insist that Luke not stop there. He must also ask each person how his harmful behavior affected them. That’s where things get sticky. Not a comfortable assignment! And yet it has remarkable, life changing consequences—for Luke and for others.

What is it about Luke that will make your readers care about him?

Luke Schrock is the most exasperating, impossible person in the little Amish church in Stoney Ridge. Handsome, charming, irascible, clueless. All that, but even more frustrating…he’s hard to stay mad at.

Who is one of your favorite fictional characters?

Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird . Such a noble man!

Oh, yes. Loved him in the book, and loved how Gregory Peck portrayed him in the film.

What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?

Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine [image error] by Gail Honeyman. It’s a curious tale of healing, with many moments of redemption.

What are you working on now?

On a Summer Tide, book 1 in the ‘Three Sisters Island’ series—releasing in mid April. You might be surprised to learn that it’s neither Quaker nor Amish. But it is a charming community, set on a remote island in Maine. The town is in great decline and a retired dad has bought it, named it for his three daughters, with hopes to bring his scattered family back together.

Sounds great. We'll have to have you back after it releases.

Where else can readers find you online?

Gail Sattler and Free Books!

FBI agent Steve Gableman needs to get information from his neighbor Cheryl Richardson that she doesn't really know so he can prevent a bombing.

Before we meet today's author, I want to announce that the winner of the free copy of In Apple Pie Order, by Joi Copeland, is:

perrianne.as@...

Congratulations! We'll get your book right out to you. I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to learn about new releases! U.S. subscribers are entered in the drawings a second time when they comment.

And now let's meet novelist Gail Sattler, author of the romantic suspense novel, The Other Neighbor (Mantle Rock Publishing, November 2018).

Gail Sattler lives in Vancouver BC Canada, where you don't have to shovel rain. When she's not madly writing (Gail Sattler has over 40 published novels and novellas, plus a few works of non-fiction), she plays bass for an Elton John tribute band as well as a community jazz band. She also plays piano for a smaller private jazz band.

When she's not writing or making music (or at her day job) Gail likes to sit back and read a book written by someone else, along with a good cup of hot coffee.

Please tell us one random thing we might not know about you.

I am a trekkie. My favorite movie is Star Trek IV (the one with the whales).

The Voyage Home. That was my favorite with the original crew too. Lots of humor.

Please tell us a bit more about the plot of The Other Neighbor.

FBI agent Steve Gableman moves next door to Cheryl Richardson so he can find out what she knows about her neighbor, who intel says is building a bomb. Cheryl doesn't realize what she can find out, but Steve does, and the FBI needs to know before people are killed or a target, so far unknown, is destroyed.

What is it about Cheryl that will make your readers care about her?

Cheryl doesn't know what her landlord/neighbor is plotting, but when she finds out, she does her best to help.

What do you hope to accomplish in 2019, either with your writing or some other facet of your life?

I want to e-publish a 5 book series that I have in the works right now. (see below)

What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?

I'm so far behind in my reading I don't know which way is up. I'm catching up on novels I have in my Kindle, and right now I'm reading Lucky by Staci Stallings. I recommend it because the hero has come from a long way down, and even though he struggles, he knows God is there despite struggles and uncertainties.

What are you working on now?

A five book series on the Kozlowski family. With his hectic job as a store manager, Zac Kozlowski treasures his home for its peace and quiet. But then his sister Terina and her yappy dog move in when her home burns down. Then their cousin Matt is evicted when his roomie steals the rent money. Another cousin, Wesley, needs a place to stay with an unexpected urgent job transfer. If that wasn't enough under one roof, everyone nearly forgot about eccentric Aunt Nettie, who sublet her condo for six months so she could come for a visit… \with her cat. And the fun begins.

Finally, what question would you like to ask my readers?

For the series I've started writing on the Kozlowski family, all of which will be stand alone romantic comedies with no cliff-hangers, what length of book do you like to read?

Thank you, Gail, for visiting and telling us about yourself and your book. Readers, Gail has offered to give away free e-copy of her novel. Joi Copeland and Free Books!

She’s hiding from love, he’s hiding from God.

Before we meet today's author, I want to announce that the winner of the free copy of Hosea's Heart, by Linda Rondeau, is:

robingail0159@...

Congratulations! We'll get your book right out to you. I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to learn about new releases! U.S. subscribers are entered in the drawings a second time when they comment.

And now let's meet novelist Joi Copeland, author of In Apple Pie Order (Forget Me Not Romance, January 2019), women's fiction with a touch of romance.

Joi Copeland is married to a wonderful man, Chris, and has three amazing boys. She is living the dream in beautiful Denver, Colorado. Joi loves being a wife and mom and also enjoys spending time with friends over a good cup of coffee or tea.

She's been a Christian for over twenty years. God has called her and her family overseas, and she hopes to make her home in Ireland by 2019.

Please tell us one random thing we might not know about you.

My family and I are missionaries, working toward moving to Ireland in less than a year.

I would imagine you get plenty of inspiration for novels with a life like that.

Please tell us a bit more about the plot of In Apple Pie Order.

Still grieving the loss of the love of her life in a freak accident, Rose Wallace is determined not to admit she needs help on the apple farm, but God knows the truth. Still, she refuses to open her heart and risk getting it broken again.

Sterling Bertram leaves his hometown in search of a new way of life. He hopes to make a quick side trip to his childhood friend's home, but his world is forever changed by what he finds.

What is it about Sterling that will make your readers care about him?

I base most of my lead men off of the characteristics of my husband. My editor absolutely fell in love with Sterling. She said he made her swoon!

Well, that's romantic!

What do you hope to accomplish in 2019, either with your writing or some other facet of your life?

I hope to be in Ireland, working with the team there to share the good news of Christ with those living in Ireland.

You'll have to touch base with us later, to let us know when you've been so blessed!

What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?

In Time for Christmas , by Heather Blanton. The plot intrigued me as I’ve never read time travel in a romantic Christian fiction novel.

Yes, I like the premise of that book.

What are you working on now?

I am working on Faith to Dance.

Linda Rondeau and Free Books!

How long should a husband search for a runaway, drug-addicted wife?

Before we meet today's author, I want to announce that the winner of the free copy of Moments with Billy Graham, by Yvonne Lehman, is:

firenight.15@...

Congratulations! I'll email you to get your snail mail address, and then we'll get your book right out to you. I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to learn about new releases! U.S. subscribers are entered in the drawings a second time when they comment.

And now let's meet novelist Linda Rondeau, author of the Contemporary Women’s Fiction novel, Hosea’s Heart (Elk Lake Publishing Inc/August 2018).

Multi-published and award winning author, Linda Wood Rondeau is a veteran social worker. Her published novels examine the complexities of human relationships. Most of Linda’s work is contemporary fiction. However, she has published both speculative and non-fiction.

Her blog, Snark and Sensibility, hosts writers of various genres. She manages a Facebook page, Having the Prime of My Life, a positive look at aging issues.

Linda resides in Hagerstown with her husband of forty years.

Please tell us a bit more about the plot of Hosea's Heart.

A minister’s search for his runaway, drug-addicted wife has brought him into the underworld of the nation’s capital. When he is finally reunited with her, he discovers she is terminally ill. While he can forgive her addiction, he learns of her ultimate betrayal … a liaison with Washington DC’s most notorious drug czar.

After years of drug abuse, Joanna has given her life to the Lord. Now in terminal stages of lung cancer, she prays for Aubrey’s forgiveness and to find some purpose in her life before she leaves this world for the next.

Please tell us one random thing we might not know about you.

I once played a cigar smoking, elderly mystery writer in a murder/mystery dinner theater.

Oh, how fun!

What is it about Aubrey Beaumont that will make your readers care about him?

Aubrey Beaumont, a conservative suburban pastor, struggles with a passion to serve the wasteland of Washington DC’s underworld, drug addicts and prostitutes. Got to love a man who has dedicated the past fifteen years in search of a drug-addicted, runaway wife who has made it clear she does not want to be found.

You do, indeed. Thus the reference to Hosea, obviously.

What do you hope to accomplish in 2019, either with your writing or some other facet of your life?

I am embarking on a new direction in life … a motivational speaker. While I’ve been involved with Toastmasters, I have felt a tug in my heart to minister to senior women and families. I have registered for Christian Communicators Conference in March. After I receive certification, I will actively pursue this venue in addition to a myriad of writing projects for 2019.

That's a noble goal, Linda. Just getting past the typical fear of speaking in public is hard enough, but to focus on an area, an audience, that seems somewhat neglected, is wonderful.

What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?

Lael Harrelson’s Tremors of Doubt . Through the main character’s struggle, the author demonstrates the difference between traditionalism and true spirituality.

What are you working on now?

A non-fiction book, I Prayed for Patience God Gave Me Children. Through our labors with children, God demonstrates what it means to be his child. This book is contracted by Elk Lake Publishing with a projected release of early May 2019. It is a revised version of a previously published book now off the market.

Where else can readers find you online?

I’d like to invite readers to my blog: Snark and Sensibility. Each week I offer three varying posts: Mondays are dedicated to senior living (Having the Prime of My Life), Wednesdays … Devotionals, and Flash Fiction Fridays. I feature guest spots. lindarondeau.com/snarksensibility

Readers may visit me and sign up for my newsletter at www.lindarondeau.com. Contact me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

The book can be purchased on Amazon via the following button:

Finally, what question would you like to ask my readers?

If you were counseling Aubrey Beaumont, what advice would you give him?

Excellent question. I think it's a good idea to put ourselves in the shoes of others who are challenged as Christians.

Thank you, Linda, for visiting and telling us about yourself and your book. Readers, Linda has offered to give away free e-copy of her novel. To enter, leave a comment and your email below in answer to Linda's question, above. "Please enter me" won't get you entered. Yvonne Lehman and Free Books!

The articles in this compilation are personal recollections of special moments people from all walks of life experienced with beloved evangelist Billy Graham.

Before we meet today's author, I want to announce that the winner of the free e-copy of my novel, Sunset Beach, is:

dachsr4me@...

Congratulations! We'll get your book right out to you. I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to learn about new releases! U.S. subscribers are entered in the drawings a second time when they comment.

And now let's meet novelist Yvonne Lehman, author of Moments with Billy Graham (Grace Publishing, November 2018)

Yvonne Lehman is author of 59 novels and over a dozen non-fiction books and compilations. Moments with Billy Graham is the 11th book in the Divine Moments series.

Her attendance at Billy Graham’s School of Christian Writing marked the beginning of her writing career a few decades ago. She founded and directed the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writing Conference for 25 years and the Blue Ridge Novel Retreat for 12 years. She teaches Writers Workshops and mentors other writers in her home, online, and at writers conferences.

Yvonne lives in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina with her equally beautiful blond and white Pomeranian, Rigel (a rescued dog named after a Titanic survivor dog with that name).

A recently released novel is The Gift (LPC Candlelight Romance, about a couple trying to help a teenager reconcile the loss of her little sister with the love of God) Her most popular book is Hearts that Survive—A Novel of the Titanic.

Please tell us a random thing we might not know about you.

In 2004, after my husband died sitting in a recliner in the family room (he had terminal cancer), I decided to fulfill a dream and go to Israel, taking my fun daughter and pastor son with me. That was the most outstanding event of my life. I walked on the pages of the Bible. It does not just tell us about ancient times so long ago, but those places exist, are alive and well in that country. I felt God’s presence in a deeper way than ever before. Some had asked was I not afraid to go to Israel. I replied, “No.” I was more afraid of dying in a recliner in my family room.

Oh, my. That's a concise and poignant testimony. Makes me want to go!

Please tell us a bit more about Moments with Billy Graham.

Moments with Billy Graham includes 48 articles by 45 authors about how the ministry of Billy Graham led to their changed lives. My attendance at Billy Graham School of Christian Writing a few decades ago marked the beginning of my writing career, which led to founding the writers conference. I’m fortunate to live in the same area as Billy Graham, volunteer at The Cove, which gives me more access to their ministry, which led to my naturally compiling this book after his death, since I was compiling Moments books.

Only after I put the word out on social media, and began receiving articles, did I balk. “What? I’m compiling a book about the world’s most famous evangelist?” Why me? But God works that way. He loves us all and uses us as we’re willing and able.

Why will readers enjoy your book?

Readers will enjoy the book because, like my stories, the personal-story tellers (not necessarily “writers”) tell how the ministry of one man changed their lives. There’s also the element of a friend, or relative, or advertisement, leading the author to Billy Graham’s ministry of radio, TV, books, or crusades. Just as one man preached the night Billy Graham went forward to surrender his life to God, one person (each of us) has the opportunity to change the life of another, who in turn, might change the world. The authors of the Moments series are reaching the world, since none get royalties, but all the royalties go to Samaritan’s Purse.

What facet of the writing craft comes easiest to you? What do you struggle with?

Getting wonderful ideas is easy for me and I can visualize an entire book that will lead to a meaningful, exciting, intriguing conclusion. Then… ahem… the struggle is sitting at that computer and “working, working, working” my way along that journey to the great conclusion. Time and effort, it takes. Also failure, which with sweat and tears, lead to success.

Absolutely, that's a struggle! I'm always happy when I sit down to write and find I previously left a chapter or scene only partially finished. It's so much easier to come in editing, rather than starting the scene from scratch.

What is the last book you read that moved you?

It’s generally whatever I’m reading. They each have something to offer whether the story is by an experienced or beginning writer. I recently read a book because I belong to an alumni book club which forces me to read what I otherwise wouldn’t. I rarely read non-fiction but this one had an impact. Switch , by Chip Heath & Dan Heath, is about how to change things when change is hard. Its purpose is mainly for organizations but impacted me on its also being a self-help for individuals, whether I’m trying to change or teaching others. For the club, I’m now reading Educated , by Tara Westover, and discovering a memoir can be written as if a novel. Also reading Edie Melson’s devotional, Soul Care When You're Weary , and it gives me insight into her, God, and creativity.

Those are so varied and interesting. I always have several books going at once, too.

What are you working on now?

I’m currently compiling and editing Romantic Moments, receiving articles for Grandma’s Cookie Jar Moments, Can, Sir! Moments, and Christmas Moments 2019. Also preparing classes for conferences, critiquing and mentoring manuscripts. The novel I’m working on is Song in the Night. The proposal is with an agent. It’s a contemporary story of a Christian woman, a Jewish man, a young boy, and a devastated pastor; how their lives entwine, conflict, and the extraordinary results.

Where else can readers find you or your writing online?

I am on facebook and twitter. My website is www.yvonnelehman.com but it is in dire need of updating. This should have been the answer to “what I struggle with.” Technology and I aren’t friends. My email is: yvonnelehman3@gmail.com

Thank you, Yvonne, for visiting and telling us about yourself and your book. Readers, Yvonne has offered to give away a free copy of her novel. To enter, leave a comment and your email below. Merry Christmas Give-Aways!

I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas, and I want to warm someone up for the holidays by giving them the brand new e-version of my romantic beach comedy, Sunset Beach.

But first, I want to announce that the winner of the free e-copy of The Plum Blooms in Winter, by Linda Thompson, is subscriber:

caseym.writer@...

Congratulations! We'll get your book right out to you. I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to learn about new releases! U.S. subscribers are entered in the drawings a second time when they comment.

Here's a bit of information about the plot of Sunset Beach:

Sonny Miller, a recent college graduate with plans to get her master’s degree in psychology, intends to resolve some family drama and put her academic interests to the test. She cleverly invites her mother, Teresa, and her mother’s estranged twin, Aunt Melanie, to a quiet and quirky San Diego beach house. They both show up...and with surprises of their own. Teresa, a successful classical singer, brings her latest protégé, Irina, and Melanie brings along secrets about Teresa and the identity of Sonny’s long-gone father.

The strong personalities cause some big waves, and Sonny is in over her head. Soon she is drawn to Irina and Irina’s charming brother, Grigori. Her faith is strengthened by their story of being adopted as children from a Russian orphanage by a Christian couple from America.

Readers will love being a guest alongside these characters. Between each sunrise and sunset is another day for healing, laughter, rediscovering the importance of family, and embracing the hope of God’s care.

The e-book can be purchased online via the following button:

To enter in the drawing for the free copy, leave a comment and your email below in answer to my question in the next paragraph. "Please enter me" won't get you entered. Remember that U.S. subscribers are entered an additional time in each drawing. The drawing is done by email, and I notify the winner by email, so leave your address like so: trish[at]trishperry[dot]com.

My question? What is one thing that stresses you about the Christmas holidays, and one of the things you most look forward to? (For me, the frigid winter weather used to be the one nerve-wracking thing. But moving to California took care of that! And the thing I most look forward to is gathering with family, which my move to California kind of messed up--now we'll be celebrating after the holidays so everyone can come back from traveling to the east coast. You take the good with the bad!) What about you?

I wish you all a beautiful, blessed Christmas and a glorious New Year. See you in 2019!

Love,

Trish

Linda Thompson and Free Books!

A gripping novel inspired by a true story from World War II’s daring Doolittle Raid.

Before we meet today's author, I want to announce that the winner of the free e-copy of Stagecoach to Liberty, by Janalyn Voigt, is:

jdmfirefly@...

Congratulations! We'll get your book right out to you. I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to learn about new releases! U.S. subscribers are entered in the drawings a second time when they comment.

And now let's meet novelist Linda Thompson, author of the historical novel, The Plum Blooms in Winter (Mountain Brook Ink, December 2018).

Linda Thompson stepped back from a corporate career that spanned continents to write what she loves--stories of unstoppable faith. Her debut novel, The Plum Blooms in Winter, is an ACFW Genesis award winner.

Linda writes from the sun-drenched Arizona desert, where she lives with her husband, a third-generation airline pilot who doubles as her Chief Military Research Officer, two mostly-grown-up kids, and a small platoon of housecats. When Linda isn't writing, you'll find her rollerblading--yes, that does make her a throwback--taking in a majestic desert moonrise, or dreaming of an upcoming trip. She and her husband recently returned from a tour of Israel and Jordan and a visit to Wales.

Please tell us one random thing we might not know about you.

Our son Josh met a young Welsh woman when we were on a mission trip in the U.K., and fell in love. They carried on a long-distance relationship for a couple of years, then married. However, due to the U.S. immigration process, the relationship is still long-distance! She will finally be able to join her husband permanently here in Arizona in January--with our first grandchild, who is now two months old and a dual U.S. / U.K. citizen! We are very excited to see them finally begin their life together for good. (I am already plotting how I can work a Welsh character into a future novel!)

It actually sounds like their story could be the plot for a future novel!

Please tell us a bit more about the plot of The Plum Blooms in Winter.

A Prostitute Seeks Her Revenge--In 1942, Miyako Matsuura cradled her little brother as he died on the sidewalk, a victim of the first U.S. bombing raid on Japan. By 1948, the war has reduced her to a street-hardened prostitute consumed by her shame.

A WWII Hero Finds His True Mission--Dave Delham makes military aviation history piloting a B-25 in the audacious Doolittle Raid. Forced to bail out over occupied China, he and his crew are captured by the Japanese and survive a harrowing POW ordeal. In 1948, he returns to Japan as a Christian missionary, determined to showcase Christ's forgiveness.

Convinced that Delham was responsible for the bomb that snuffed out her brother's life, Miyako resolves to restore her honor by avenging him--even if it costs her own life. But the huntress soon becomes hunted in Osaka's treacherous underworld. And then confronts a decision that will change everything.

What is it about Miyako that will make your readers care about her?

Miyako is deeply wounded, but courageous, determined and self-sacrificing. She will pay any price to fulfill what she sees as her duty.

What’s one of your favorite Christmas books or films?

Okay, promise not to laugh… The Muppet Christmas Carol . I enjoy the music and the corny jokes, and I appreciate the message of this classic redemption story. And Miss Piggy’s star turn as Mrs. Cratchit? Perfect.

Oh, that does bring back memories!

What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?

I loved Melanie Dobson’s Catching the Wind . I find the craft behind time-slip stories fascinating, and I especially enjoyed the well-researched World War II timeline that ended with a heart-rending and very memorable separation. But yes, there was healing on the other side of that.

Yes, Melanie is great at time-slip stories. I featured her Hidden Among the Stars not too long ago.

What are you working on now?

I’m working on Book Two in the Brands From the Burning series, The Mulberry Leaf Whispers. It continues the World War II story from The Plum Blooms in Winter, but also introduces a new plotline from samurai-era Japan.

Finally, what question would you like to ask my readers?

Certain eras are very popular in historical Christian fiction, while others are largely unexplored. Does the idea of reading a story that explores the challenges of Christians in Japan’s samurai era intrigue you, or not? Can you expand on why you feel that way?

Janalyn Voigt and Free Books!

Can a desperate young woman trust the handsome Irish stranger who wants to free her from her captors?

Before we meet today's author, I want to announce that the winner of the free e-copy of the cozy mystery novel, Where There's a Will, by Amy Rognlie, is:

vherlock@...

Congratulations! We'll get your book right out to you. I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to learn about new releases! U.S. subscribers are entered in the drawings a second time when they comment.

And now let's meet novelist Janalyn Voigt, author of the sweeping western historical romance, Stagecoach to Liberty (Mountain Brook Ink, 12 2018).

Janalyn Voigt fell in love with literature at an early age when her father read classics to her as bedtime stories. When Janalyn grew older, she put herself to sleep with her own made-up tales. Her sixth-grade teacher noticed her love of storytelling and encouraged her to become a writer. Today Janalyn is a multi-genre author.

Janalyn writes the kind of novels she likes to read – epic adventures brimming with romance, mystery, history, and whimsy. She is praised for her unpredictable plots and the lyrical, descriptive prose that transports readers into breathtaking storyworlds.

Please tell us one random thing we might not know about you.

I once lived at a remote communications station in the Australian Outback, two-hundred miles from the nearest small town. My husband was a sailor who worked at a naval base jointly run by the American and Australian military.

During the three years we lived in Western Australia, we went through Severe Tropical Cyclone Karen. We sheltered in the utility closet in our home, which was just big enough to hold our daughter’s crib. I’ll never forget the sound of the storm, which reminded me of a freight train passing near our house.

The stuff of nightmares!

Please tell us a bit more about the plot of Stagecoach to Liberty.

Elsa Meier, a talented young Hessian girl who plays the hurdy-gurdy and dances, signs a contract to entertain miners in the Wild West. Elsa travels to America in the company of Miles and Alicia Peabody, the brother and sister who persuaded her mother to allow her to go. Elsa hopes for freedom and the chance to send money home to help her family. Instead, she comes to the attention of a wealthy and unscrupulous man. On a stagecoach traveling into Montana Territory, Elsa conveys her peril to a handsome stranger with an Irish accent.

Con Walsh, on a quest to find out the truth about himself, stumbles into a dangerous situation involving a frightened young woman in need of rescue. Despite his own pressing troubles, he finds that her safety matters to him more than his own.

Set in Montana during its gold rush -- a time troubled by outlaws, corruption and vigilante violence -- Stagecoach to Liberty explores faith, love, and courage in the wild west. This story can stand alone or continue the saga that began with Hills of Nevermore and Cheyenne Sunrise.

What a great series!

What is it about Elsa that will make your readers care about her?

Elsa has the best of intentions. She leaves her family in Germany for America to help her widowed mother support her younger siblings. When others let her down, her strong mind and moral fiber sustain her.

What’s one of your favorite Christmas books or films?

I’m a big fan of Charles Dickens. His ability to create larger-than-life characters that live outside the written page is awe-inspiring. I’ve adopted my husband’s long-standing tradition of watching A Christmas Carol each Christmas. Each year, I see something new in the story.

And there are several excellent film versions of the story, so it's possible to keep that experience fresh.

What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?

So far, no one has topped Jamaica Inn by Daphne DuMaurier for vivid descriptions, deep characterizations, and intriguing plotting. She shares a similar gift for inventing compelling characters as Charles Dickens. You may notice a theme. I love classic, timeless stories.

I thought I had read that one, but I see I haven't. That will be next on my TBR list to listen to as I walk! The plot sounds exciting.

What are you working on now?

The Forever Sky is the final installment in the Montana Gold series. Maisey Wilcox, the heroine, appeared as a supporting character in the first three books. It’s nice to delve more deeply into the story of a heroine who is in every way admirable. After suffering devastating losses that would crush a weaker soul, Maisey reaches out to help others. I can only aspire to show such love. Rob, the hero, struggles to prove himself. That Con, his successful older brother, overshadows him doesn’t help.

Amy Rognlie and Free Books!

Callie, Todd and friends have their hearts set on building Hope House, a home for sex-trafficking victims, but their plan is in jeopardy when Callie is confronted with the mysterious death of someone much closer to her than she’d like.

Before we meet today's author, I want to announce that the winner of the free e-copy of the women's fiction/romance novel, Dancing in the Rain, by Jennifer Slattery, is:

momrain@...

and the winner of the free copy of the contemporary romance collection, In Love and War, by Miralee Ferrell, Kimberly Rose Johnson, Debby Mayne, and myself, is:

chassan2@...

and the winner of the free copy of the romantic suspense novel, No Turning Back, by H.L. Wegley, is:

raegale2@...

Congratulations! We'll get your books right out to you. I encourage readers to keep commenting and/or subscribe at right (above my list of books) in order to learn about new releases! U.S. subscribers are entered in the drawings a second time when they comment.

And now let's meet novelist Amy Rognlie, author of the cozy mystery, Where There's a Will (Mountain Brook Ink, November 2018).

Amy Rognlie writes inspirational fiction, including cozy mysteries and historical novels. She is also known for her insightful devotional pieces and engaging presentations.

When not writing or speaking, she is teaching middle school language arts or leading a Bible study at the local jail.

Amy lives in Central Texas with her husband, granddaughter, dogs, and a plethora of plants, yarn, and books.

Please tell us one random thing we might not know about you.

I'd love to learn to play the guitar.

Oh, you and me, both. I tried to learn bass years ago, and my fingers just fought me every step of the way. I have so much respect for musicians!

Please tell us a bit more about the plot of Where There's a Will.

A mysterious postcard, a decades-old mystery, and a cranky realtor have suddenly thrown Callie Erickson’s plans for Hope House into a tailspin. Who knew that her shop, C. Williker's, used to belong to a family who disappeared years earlier, without a trace? And why are new clues to the mystery showing up now? And was the recent death of Callie's elderly friend truly from natural causes...or not? And why is her will missing?

Callie, her friends and her indomitable Great-Aunt Dot are on the case, but things are complicated by Aunt Dot and Harry's flourishing romance and Mona's health issues, not to mention a troubling connection between the long-missing family and the plans for Hope House. As Callie delves deeper into the mystery, her faith is tested like never before.

Follow her as she not only ferrets out the truth about the missing will, but also learns some lasting truths about life, love and faith.

What is it about Callie that will make your readers care about her?

My readers care about Callie, my main character, because she is an ordinary person like the rest of us. She has real-world problems that she struggles through with the help of her friends and her faith.

If your book was developed into a film, what’s one song you’d love to have in it?

"Love Has a Name" by Jesus Culture.

I didn't know that group before looking for that song. Nice.

What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?

I would recommend The Bird in the Tree by Elizabeth Goudge. It's an old book, but I love the deep insight into human character as well as the spiritual truths woven into the story.

What are you working on now?

I am writing the third Short Creek Mystery, To Err is Human.

Harry Wegley and Free Books!

Beth Sanchez is brilliant, introverted, beautiful, and a survivor of a great tragedy that left her in the crosshairs of a drug lord, but Drew West thinks she has a heart worth winning, and he's willing to die trying.

Today I'm featuring novelist (Harry) H.L. Wegley, author of the high-action, romantic suspense novel, No Turning Back (Trinity Press International, October 2018).

Harry served in the USAF as an Intelligence Analyst and a Weather Officer. In civilian life, he served as a Research Scientist in Atmospheric Physics. After earning an MS in Computer Science, Harry jumped ship to build computer systems for Boeing for 20 years before retiring near Seattle, where he and his wife small-group ministry, their grandchildren, and hiking on Olympic National Park beaches.

Harry is an award-winning author of 12 inspirational thrillers and romantic-suspense novels and has more on the way.

Please tell us one random thing we might not know about you.

By age 12, I already had NFL wide-receiver speed. But at 15, my sprinting dreams were dashed when I tore my quads severely while competing in the long jump on a cold, windy day.

I feel your pain! I've never been much of an athlete, but I have a black belt in TaeKwonDo, and six months after earning my belt, I had to retest (it's part of the process). That was on a cold, windy day as well, and the dojo was so cold that I tore my hamstring while testing. I felt like my leg might fall off.

I'm sure you were disappointed that your injury side railed you. I guess we never know our future with 100 percent certainty!

Please tell us a bit more about the plot of No Turning Back.

Elizabeth (Beth) Sanchez, daughter of the man who formed a militia and drove out the Del Rio Cartel, was the lone survivor after drug lord, Hector Suarez, retaliated, massacring the people in her town. Seven years later, Beth has an MBA, American citizenship, and is ready to chase her dreams. While on a Big Bend hiking excursion, Beth encounters Suarez who is bent on killing the one remaining symbol of resistance to his power, Beth Sanchez.

After once being called a coward, Drew West has a mile-high chip on his shoulder and an impressive resume of fighting skills. He’s ready to fight anybody, anywhere, especially if someone needs protection.

When Suarez tries to kill Beth in Big Bend, Drew humiliates the drug lord and captures Suarez’s little brother, Ricardo. Hector Suarez places Beth and Drew at the top of his hit list. When a federal prosecutor offers Beth and Drew protection for their testimony against Ricardo, Beth fears a safe house cannot stop another massacre. But Drew offers her a different option, his protection on a horse ranch half a continent away. But if Beth accepts Drew’s offer, there will be no marshal protection and no turning back.

What is it about Beth that will make your readers care about her?

Beth Sanchez survived major tragedy in her life and has a lot of guilt to overcome. That will certainly draw readers’ sympathy. But the mystery and intrigue surrounding her rare personality type, the female INTJ—the most searched personality type on the Internet—will draw a lot of interest. Experiencing the mental and emotional journey of this highly intelligent, yet introverted, young woman as she faces extreme danger and many life-changing decisions will draw a lot of readers to Beth. And, as mentioned in the author’s notes, much of her backstory is based on true events.

If your book was developed into a film, what’s one song you’d love to have in it?

About 25 years ago, Al Denson recorded an upbeat song that could be describing our love relationship with God or a deep love between two people. The song, "Living in the Light of Your Love," is one that Drew, an author in my story, might write for Beth. Here’s a YouTube link for those who want to hear a great song: https://bit.ly/2Fs7xp8

What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?

Long Way Gone by Charles Martin is a modern-day retelling of the prodigal son story. If you like music and acoustic guitars, you’ll love the story. But it also illustrates that, even if there’s an eventual good ending to the prodigal’s story, the events during his journey make the prodigal’s path a heart-rending choice that we should avoid.

What are you working on now?

Two weeks ago, I released a techno-thriller with romance, Virtuality, a warning about technology that will almost assuredly go bad in our society. And I’m editing an espionage thriller with a strong romance thread, The Janus Journals, that should release around Feb 1, 2019.

What kind of stories do you prefer—those that flow slow and sweet, like molasses, with a lot of introspection and description or faster-paced stories that cut back on the slow-moving parts and maintain a faster pace?
