Shakespeare Ignored Parts Of History To Make It Fit His Themes
Shakespeare ignored parts of history to make it fit his themes. We see this most today on the Ides of March. We all know the line from Julius Caesar:
Caesar: Et tu, Brute! Then fall, Caesar.
However, historically, this is what really happened:
Caesar: Et tu, Brute!
Brutus: Ceasar, you don’t know shit!
He just changed it to fit the mood of his play. You can’t rely on Shakespeare for anything.
(Note, only fans of Bound may get this joke.)

Isn’t It Weird When The Intro Is More Interesting Than The Game?
Isn’t it weird when the intro is more interesting than the game? I had a Playstation II back in 2000 and somehow I ended up with a copy of Nightmare Creatures. I loved the intro, but I only even ended up playing the game so much. I’d usually watch the intro, and then run around killing things for a while. Then I’d get bored and shut it off.
Why? I loved the intro. Unfortunately, I think the most interesting character was the villain. I was much more captivated by what was going on with him. My character just hacked up some things. It felt like just another slash game. The intro was where all the coolest stuff was at, which would have made for a very different game.
Can’t fight what interests you and what doesn’t, I suppose.

I Don’t Have A High Opinion Of United Wifi Right Now
I don’t have a high opinion of the wifi on United flights right now. It seems worse than other airlines. I know others who had much worse experiences with their flights recently and it isn’t a huge deal, but it really seems kind of shoddy on the part of United. It doesn’t inspire much faith.
On my flight out I had problems, but they did something about it. I paid for wifi for a three hour flight and it stopped working after 2. They took care of it on their own though, sending out a refund on their own. My flight back was more problematic.
I tried to sign up for one hour. The wifi was so bad that the signup timed out and they said it didn’t go through. I realized there was more time left in the flight than I had thought, so I redid the request but for two hours. Turns out, both processed.
They charged me for both even though they said the first had not gone through.
Even better, the wifi was horrible. It worked decently about 30% of the time, and not at all about 50% of the time. I tried to send in a complaint through their system, but that failed four separate times. There was literally no way to complain and ask for a refund. It kept saying to correct “the error below,” but did not list an error. It was just as messed up as the wifi they were providing.
It isn’t a huge deal. The flight was pretty much on time, I didn’t have to pay for carry on luggage, and all that. No big turbulence issues. Still, if they want $5.99 an hour for wifi, I kind of expect it to work. I also expect the wifi purchasing system to work, and the complaint system to work for when it doesn’t.
All in all I was pretty unimpressed and am not sure I would ever recommend trying it again.

The Truth: What “AWP” Stands For
Well, technically the conference is over. Everyone is just on their way home now. Still, most are still waking up together in Tampa, so I have one more chance to get it right. I’ve been wrong the whole things so far, but you can believe me when I tell you that “AWP” stands for “Angled Walrus Parts.”
Wait, that’s not right…Damn it! I’m wrong again!
Screw it, I give up.

You Probably Don’t Trust Me Anymore: What “AWP” Stands For
You probably don’t trust me anymore. I’ve told you so many incorrect things that “AWP” stands for. Will I ever get it right? You probably wouldn’t believe me if I did, but I tell you on this last full day of the conference that AWP stands for “Albert’s Women Pals.”
Apparently, the conference was named to honor all the incredible female actors who have starred with Albert Brooks over the years. There were so many, the above being just a quick sample. He fades into the background so much that even with as male-focused as movies so often are, these female actors really got an opportunity to shine.
Lord knows he didn’t.

Correction: What “AWP” Really Stands For
It has been brought to my attention that I made a mistake when I told you yesterday that “AWP” stood for “Always Wear Pearls.” Apparently I was the only one who thought that. I’ve been since corrected that “AWP” actually stands for “A Warm Pendleton.”
Those shirts are sure warm, and the conference is so often in cold places. Not this year in Tampa, but certainly previous years in Washington D.C., Chicago, Minneapolis, and Boston.
I could have used a warm Pendleton back at those conferences.

Okay…Here Is What “AWP” REALLY Stands For
Okay, I may have told you yesterday that “AWP” stood for “All Weather Patton.” That may have been a lie. Today I’ll tell you the truth, on this first actual day of the conference. The truth is that “AWP” stands for “Always Wear Pearls.”
It’s a reference to Lisa Simpson. Remember how she always wear pearls? Well, be like Lisa. Not just with the pearls, but with everything. She’s the best person in the whole Simpsons family. You should be a good person. You should be like Lisa.
Always wear pearls.

What Does “AWP” Stand For?
Since today is the first day of AWP, though the conference doesn’t really get started until tomorrow, I thought I’d tell you what “AWP” stood for. People are always asking, so I’ll tell you. Now, don’t click that link above and get misled. “AWP” actually stands for “All weather Patton.”
You see, back in the day you had to change your Patton at least twice a year. You had a warm weather Patton and a snow Patton. Warm weather Patton got better gas mileage, but snow Patton got better traction. Once all weather Patton was invented though, people didn’t need to switch. It had decent enough gas mileage to not need to switch to warm weather Patton and still got good enough traction in the snow. It wasn’t perfect, but it beat switching all the time and buying multiple Pattons.
It was truly a boon to humankind.

I’m Seriously Considering Bailing On AWP
I’m seriously considering bailing on AWP. Not like some who are having life events come up, can’t or don’t want to spring for how expensive it is, or anything like that. My potential bail has more to do with A Wrinkle in Time.
The movie comes out on the 9th. The conference has full days both the 9th and the 10th. Despite how much money I’ve sunk into going to this conference, it’s going to be difficult to hold off if I’m anywhere near a theater.
I might just bail for the movie.
