LaKenya Kopf – Virtual Assistant

LaKenya KopfLaKenya KopfVirtual Assistant $3,000 per month
Published November 8, 2022 by Emilija MilicevicContributor: Niall Doherty
How does LaKenya Kopf make money online?

LaKenya Kopf is a virtual assistant and owner of Kopf Consulting, a VA company specializing in tech support.

According to a November 2021 interview, Kopf Consulting provides the following services:

CRM, Email Marketing and WordPress managementTraining and consulting services Freelancer hiring services One time services (i.e. setting up a domain, podcast setup, website migration, Zapier integrations, etc).

Since LaKenya’s focus is on software support and not a particular niche or location, her company’s reach is international. Her clients list includes a beauty salon in California, an accounting firm in Canada, a real estate company in New York, a life coach in Australia, and others.

CRMs and email marketing systems allow us to provide clients with the care and support they need for nurturing leads, converting sales, and managing their customer journey, regardless of their location.

However, as the business grew, LaKenya discontinued her virtual assistance. Kopf Consulting now offers tech based services and hiring assistance. 1

I found over time I was doing more assisting in terms of admin work, social media, and customer service rather than working specifically on tech tasks. For this reason, VA services have been discontinued.

How much money does LaKenya make?

LaKenya’s VA business brings her $3,000 per month. 2

According to her website, LaKenya structures her VA services in packages. She offer four types of services:

Maintenance Packages
Eg. WordPress or CRM maintenance. $49.99 to $69.99 per month.Quick Gigs
Eg. Podcast setup or Zapier setup. $49.99 per project.Temporary Tech Support
All kinds of tech services. $75 per hour.Hiring/Matching Services
For freelancers or VAs. $99 per hire/person.

As a service provider, LaKenya also offers clients payment agreements in the form of retainers.

I realized having two different tiers of business worked best. Retainer would provide a more steady income for me while ‘Pay As You Go’ created more affordable flexibility for those on a tight budget.

What is LaKenya background?

Prior to becoming a virtual assistant, LaKenya was a military spouse. She was trying to find work for months, but because of constantly moving from base to base, she would get rejected.

Then LaKenya’s friend mentioned that her workplace was looking for an independent consultant to help with an event. 3

I knew software and hardware on individual computers, but had no idea how I could translate that to virtual work. The solution: I would complete the vast majority of the work virtually and then travel for the event to play the role of on-site assistant.

Although her friend was in another state, LaKenya was able to support her virtually for her administrative tasks.

For the first two years, LaKenya’s virtual assistance was more of a side hustle, working primarily through word-of-mouth and picking up odd jobs here and there. Upon researching ways to make money online, she decided to start her own company.

Then I began volunteering and bartering for increased exposure and reviews. I took note of everything I needed to create for my business as I began to expand and added those items to my list of skills.

Through trial and error, LaKenya learned about online marketing and the digital ads space, social media marketing and management, CRMs, email marketing systems, and lead generation.

According to her website, LaKenya has been certified in a variety of administration and management softwares. She also has received accolades for her content and email marketing, community management, social media marketing skills, etc.

How does LaKenya Kopf find clients?

LaKenya used the skills she had learned over the years to build her first stand-alone website using WordPress. She created social media accounts on all the established platforms. Then she applied for her business credit card and changed her business checking account to her new business name, Kopf Consulting. 4

I began volunteering and bartering for increased exposure and reviews. I took note of everything I needed to create for my business as I began to expand and added those items to my list of skills.

LaKenya had a modest marketing budget. She used Google Ads to promote her services and added her company to online business directories. She also regularly posted on social media, and continued to find work on online marketplaces for freelance services.

My goal was to keep overhead costs low, again—this is what I wanted to teach to other businesses as well—how to establish a business without breaking the bank.

What tools / resources does LaKenya use?

These are some of LaKenya’s favorite tools for managing her virtual assistance business. 5

Asana – “Work Management” Platform

My business wouldn’t be able to run without Asana. It is my preferred task management system. I have used other similar apps, but this has been the only one that allows me to stay organized based on clients, tasks, recurring tasks. It also allows me to choose between creating a list and creating a board (and switching between the two).

How much money does Harsh Singh make?

As he mentions in the May 2021 video, Harsh works 4-5 hours daily for two clients. The first client pays him $100 per week and the second one $75 per week. On weekends Harsh does small, project-based work.

These two sources of income combined total approximately $800 per month.

How did Harsh Singh get started?

Harsh started his freelance work back in February 2020 while in secondary school. He did video editing, web scraping and data scraping until March 2020, when he decided to focus on his studies. Then in January 2021 he started freelancing again. 1

I had 2 to 3 video editing projects when I came across a virtual assistant listing. Since I already had a rating on the freelancing platform, I submitted a sample of my work and the client liked it.

Harsh worked for 3 weeks for this client and got paid $70 per week. After that he started bidding on VA projects on Upwork and got hired by two new clients.

How does Harsh Singh find clients?

Harsh found his first client on an online marketplace for freelance work. 2

I looked for work on Freelancer, but there was a lot of saturation in the video editing niche. I would stay up to 3 or 4 in the morning, so I could bid on newly uploaded projects. I got my first video editing gig a week later.

Harsh already had a few video editing tasks when he came across a virtual assistant listing.
Thanks to his previous freelance projects, Harsh’s profile rating on the platform was satisfactory. He submitted a sample of his work and got hired as a virtual assistant.

For this client he worked 3 weeks and earned $210 in total. Then he started bidding on VA projects listed on Upwork and got two clients in the print-on-demand niche.

Clare Yeo is a travel blogger and virtual assistant.

According to the October 2019 interview below, she does social media work for her clients. That includes creating and repurposing content and sharing it on Instagram, Linkedin, and Facebook.

As she says in that video…

I started my career as a concert pianist but found my passion curating content on social media platforms. I am a trained virtual assistant that helps clients reach their business goals creatively and effectively.

Clare started her digital nomad lifestyle after completing her Master’s degree in 2019. She is currently working as a VA and content director for a lifestyle blogger.

How much money does Clare make?

During grad school Clare was working as a nanny for about 3 hours a day and earning around $3,000 a month.

She got paid for the holidays and summers off, which wasn’t enough to cover the cost of living in San Francisco. That’s why she hesitated about switching to a freelance career. 1

My goal was to get up to the point where I was making the same amount of money that I was as a nanny. I worked my butt off. I pitched to clients and spent countless hours hunting for job openings. After three weeks I was hitting that $3,000 mark.

As Clare explained in her October 2019 interview, she has been consistently earning $3,000/month since because all her clients are long-term clients. 2

What is Clare Yeo’s background?

Clare is a trained, Julliard-graduated concert pianist. She moved a lot while growing up and lived in five cities. That’s why traveling is an important part of her lifestyle.

When she graduated in May 2019 from her Master’s program, she was trying to figure out her next steps. Being a full-time pianist required sitting in a studio for eight hours a day rehearsing. She then realized that she would only get to travel for performances.

The whole reason why I decided to become a virtual assistant was so that I could have something to move around with.

Since June 2019, Clare has fully transitioned into working as a full-time VA while traveling. Although passionate about travel blogging, she paused her destination guides and travel tips due to the pandemic. 3

According to her LinkedIn profile, Clare is currently working as a content director.

How does Clare find clients?

As she stated in her October 2019 interview, Clare started applying to jobs before she even completed her virtual assistant course. She would wake up at six in the morning, sit in front of her laptop with a cup of coffee or tea, and work her way through until midnight. 4

After an intense period of pitching, there was first a little silence. Most of the people that I was pitching to were busy business owners and entrepreneurs. A week later I got so many emails back that I had more work than I could handle.

At first, Clare was working with dentists and dental speakers. Soon she switched to the travel industry because of her background in running a travel blog. Now she aims to niche down to supporting female-led brands and businesses. 5

I adore one of the clients that I’m working with right now. She was someone that I followed very closely because she’s a huge travel blogger. It’s been so much fun being her assistant.

Hey, I’m Niall Doherty.

How does Freelance Writing Essentials help you make money?

Freelance Writing Essentials aims to help you make a living as a new freelance writer.

As they say on the sales page…

Learn how to grow a freelance writing business from scratch, from two people who’ve actually walked the walk.

Go from having no clients, no portfolio, no website, and no niche–to having all four.

A freelance writer usually gets paid to write articles or blog posts for the web. Freelance writing can also entail writing for print magazines, books, email newsletters, etc.

As a freelancer you would be running your own business. Clients would hire you to work on various writing projects.

Learn more about freelance writingWho is Freelance Writing Essentials for?

Freelance Writing Essentials sells itself as a course for beginner writers.

As stated on the sales page…

freelance writing essentials sales page

I was pleasantly surprised with that description, as too many courses try to appeal to everyone. Not the case here, thankfully.

And having seen inside the course, I tend to agree: Freelance Writing Essentials is an ideal course for beginners who are thinking of becoming professional wordsmiths.

70+ ways how to make money online (including easy options)Do Elise Dopson and Michael Keenan have a good reputation?

Yes.

They don’t seem to have a huge audience yet, but I think that’s only a matter of time.

I’ve watched interviews with both of them. They seem like genuine people who have worked hard to achieve success in the world of freelance writing.

Now they’re sharing what they’ve learned via their FWE course and Peak Freelance website.

Below is an interview with Elise and Michael so you can get a feel for their style…

Are Freelance Writing Essentials students getting results?

It’s too early to tell.

As I’m writing this, Freelance Writing Essentials is still quite new. Not many students have gone through the training yet, and so have not had time to implement the teachings and see significant results.

However, the course seems solid, and I don’t doubt that we will eventually see numerous success stories coming out of it.

How much does Freelance Writing Essentials cost?

You have two payment options to access Freelance Writing Essentials…

One payment of £99 (approximately $115 USD)Three payments of £35 ($40 USD)

The latter option makes for a total of £105, so around $120.

Each option gives you lifetime access to the training.

Keep in mind that you may want to put extra money aside for hosting and a domain name for your website. This is an optional part of the training, but having your own website can be helpful for your freelance writing career.

After you buy FWE, you’ll get led to a short upsell page. I didn’t find the upsell very compelling. The only things they tell you about it are the following…

£351.00
All Access Membership
Community plan
8 products

There was no other info available other than that, which is unusual for an upsell page. Usually a course will bombard you with info to get you to buy the upsell.

Freelance Writing Essentials Discount?

I did find a discount for Freelance Writing Essentials via the Peak Freelance blog.

Enter the coupon code TAKE20BLOG at checkout and you’ll get a 20% discount.

The coupon works for both the one-payment and three-payment options.

My guess is that if Elise and Michael offer another discount or promotion, they’ll do so on some of the social media accounts for Peak Freelance.

Refund Policy

The sales page for FWE specifies a 14-day money-back guarantee…

If you’re not happy with the course, you can get a 14-day money-back guarantee. (But we’d rather you tell us why you feel that way so we can try fix it.)

I haven’t seen anyone reporting issues getting a refund on their purchase. This could be simply because FWE is quite new, but since the training seems solid, I believe you can rest easy with this guarantee.

How is Freelance Writing Essentials structured?

Here’s what the training looks like once you log in and open one of the lessons…

freelance writing essentials course page

The core training is split into seven modules, all of which seem to consist of video lessons. However, they also have transcripts and built-in subtitles, a nice value-add IMO.

I found FWE fairly comprehensive for a course that’s focused on new freelance writers. Most videos last between 10 and 20 minutes, and they seem to cover everything that new writers should know. That would include things like how to write well, getting clients, legal and accounting, developing processes, etc.

Another nice thing about the training is that Elise and Michael are well-spoken, and the overall tone is relaxed. Not to mention the bonuses, as every module has a recap quiz, and some of them have various downloadable templates.

Unfortunately, Freelance Writing Essentials doesn’t have a community solely for students. Peak Freelance does have a free community on Slack, but I found it to be limited to some rather basic threads.

If you value community highly, you can buy the upsell for FWE, or opt for a Peak Freelance membership.

Green Lights 🟢

Here are a few things to like about Freelance Writing Essentials…

Reasonable price to access the core training.Surprisingly comprehensive core training. Both text and video versions of lessons, as well as subtitles.Clear instruction, easy to follow, and step-by-step.Elise and Michael seem like the real deal.No hype or sleazy sales tactics.Tons of bonus content provided.Red Flags 🚩

A few things about Freelance Writing Essentials that might give you pause…

Lack of significant success stories from students (understandable: the course is still new).Only suitable for freelance writers who are just starting out.No community solely for students (though Peak Freelance has a free community)No search functionality; makes it harder to find your way around.Other things you should knowA good way to think of FWE: Elise and Michael have basically documented everything they’ve done to build their own profitable freelance writing businesses. When you buy the course, you get access to that documentation. You’ll find lots of handy downloads within the training, including checklists, templates, spreadsheets, etc.Keep in mind that the course was launched only a few months before this writing. It may be missing some key things such as success stories, but I believe we’ll see plenty of them in time.Freelance Writing Essentials seems to be one of many training products offered by Peak Freelance. There is also the Peak Freelance membership, and Creative Class.👇 Subscribe to eBiz Weekly 👇

Should you join Freelance Writing Essentials?

Freelance Writing Essentials is still a new course, but I’m happy to recommend it.

The strategy that Elise and Michael teach is sound. They’ve laid it out clearly and concisely. And they’ve made it all available for a fairly low price, especially compared to other courses that teach the same business model.

Overall, I consider Freelance Writing Essentials to be one of the best-value courses we’ve reviewed to date. If you’re early into your freelance writing career, or didn’t even take it up yet, definitely give FWE a look.

Just keep in mind that it does not have a dedicated community, but the free Peak Freelance community on Slack may be enough for you in the beginning.

Louise Richman – Virtual Assistant

Louise RichmanLouise RichmanVirtual Assistant £35 per hour

How does Louise Richman make money online?

Louise Richman is a virtual assistant and founder of Indigo Eleven, a virtual PA business based in the UK. She works with a sales director of a CRM business and a property owner.

I support the managing agents and oversee the properties by co-ordinating maintenance, finances, insurance, contract renewals, and by providing PA support to the director and landlord. 1

According to her website, Louise offers the following VA services:

Personal Assistant SupportEmail & Diary ManagementCRM & Database ManagementInternet Research ProjectsData Entry & Document FormattingAdvice & Support

Sara and Dawn, the other members of the Indigo Eleven team, provide clients with specialist services such as marketing, graphic and web design projects. 2

We take care  of the smaller, time consuming but important details that might get missed or forgotten. For example, sending out ‘thank you’ cards, arranging prospect meetings and follow-ups, or collecting business testimonials at the end of completed projects. 3

Learn more about income claims and estimates on this website

Our goal at eBiz Facts is to give you accurate information about online business so you can gain clearer insights, make better decisions, and achieve your own success.

With that in mind, we strive to ensure the accuracy and transparency of the income claims and estimates that you see on this website.

Here’s how:

We treat all income claims we find online with skepticism. We don’t report incomes that seem especially controversial or unrealistic. We cite our sources and/or share our calculations so you can see where the numbers come from.If there are uncertainties about an income claim or estimate, we tell you what those are.

If you see an income claim or estimate that seems off, please tell us so we can fix it.

How did Louise Richman get started?

According to this August 2021 interview, Louise was working as a project officer on a government-funded project but was made redundant before the project ended. At the time, she met her cousin who was self-employed as a freelance graphic designer. He asked Louise if she thought of becoming a virtual assistant.

I started on a part-time basis in 2011, working with a local virtual assistant around my full-time employment as a personal assistant.

Louise did that for the next two years, along with doing research and building a website. She was planning to start working for herself full-time in the spring of 2013.

Even though she didn’t have any formal qualifications to be a virtual assistant she had a wealth of administrative experience. Her proactive attitude and self-development activities also helped.

I like to keep myself up to date with new technologies and other relevant training sessions in various areas of business. I spend a lot of time reading and watching Youtube videos to develop new skills.

How does Louise find clients?

In the early days, Louise didn’t have a lot of money for setting up the business. Her strategy was visiting free local networking events and business meetups. She admits that they were great for networking and meeting people, but not ideal for finding clients. 6

It generally takes 1-2 years to become established and begin getting more word-of-mouth referrals, which has driven our growth since then.

Louise has been working with long-term clients for some time. Even though she’s not relying on bringing new business anymore, she does continue to network.

I have made some good contacts via LinkedIn and by being a virtual tenant at a workspace building. This has allowed me to meet people, and network, through the co-working space and events.

What does Louise Richman’s typical day look like?

As Louise stated in her August 2021 interview, she works for two or three clients each day. Her schedule is structured around the client’s daily, weekly and monthly project activities.

Her typical day starts with checking emails and updating her task list. Usually, she’ll work on filing and updating CRM tasks from the previous day. Then she’ll move on to work for the property company.

Since starting the business, Louise moved away from doing ad-hoc, pay-as-you-go tasks. Now she’s working with clients on an ongoing monthly basis. That means she has a more focused set of tasks to work through each day.

I keep Monday to Thursday focused on client work and have Friday set as a day for my own business and meetings. Generally, I’m pretty good at keeping work between 9 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

One thing Louise emphasizes is setting out clients’ expectations from the start. She warns that if you reply to emails immediately and at all hours, clients will come to expect this as the norm.

There’s a great saying “Your lack of planning does not constitute my emergency”. Clients shouldn’t expect any business owner to be ready to jump on to any request straight away.

What tools / resources does Louise use?Capsule CRM
Customer relationship management (CRM) software-as-a-service web application.

I do think if you run a small business, you need a CRM – I use a free cloud based system called Capsule CRM to store contact information, set reminders, track business prospects and manage new clients on-boarding. And it helps to keep everything in one place. 7

According to a recent interview with the founder, GiftLab is only 5 years old and has already earned about $1.2 million via affiliate marketing.

Sounds like a fast path to success, but check out the revenue progression…

$0 in Year 1$9,000 in Year 2$40,000 in Year 3

And then presumably over $1 million in the last two years alone 🤑

But how many people are willing to put serious time and resources into a project for two years while earning way below minimum wage and no guarantee that they’ll eventually win big?

Both basically let you upload photos of yourself and then generate a bunch of avatars via artificial intelligence. Lots of examples at the links above.

Unfortunately, Pieter is “spending $8,000 per day on GPUs” to run his service 😱

Anthony suggests other AI projects like this that might have legs…

Some chap named Nick took on the second idea and quickly launched HairstyleAI.com 👩‍🦰

That generated 23 sales at $5 a pop within a few hours. All the more impressive when you consider Nick has a tiny following on Twitter compared to Pieter and Danny.

The earliest tweet I found from Max promoting his newsletter was from about a year ago, so it seems he’s mainly built up his audience since then.

But it sounds like he’d been in the growth hacking game for a long time before that, sharpening his saw.

The Unreasonable Man

A quote from 🇮🇪 Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw, good to keep in mind when you’re out to put a dent in the universe…

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable man persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

$51,365 in 60 Days from Emojis

Marshall Haas shares the story of EmojiMasks.com, an ecommerce store his company set up back in 2014.

The idea was to create and sell real physical emoji masks, including such classics as 😍and 💩

They wanted to have the masks ready for the Halloween market so they only had 60 days from conception to launch. They racked up $3609 in expenses, mostly on inventory from a mask factory they found via Alibaba.

It all paid off when they did $51,365 in total revenue in the lead-up to the holiday 💰

Marshall on why the idea worked so well…

Simply put, it was incredibly novel. The concept was also dead simple to understand with a photo. Emoji’s were super popular, but at the time, no one had put them on many physical products yet.

What’s the novel online thing nowadays that could work well as a physical product? 🤔

Opportunity Is All Around You

Steph Smith tweets about paying $185 to have her locks changed 🗝

Guy did it in literally 15 minutes. We asked him how many he fixed a day and he said 8-10. If he does that 5 days a week, we’re talking $385-$480k per year.

Steph goes on to show how she uses such everyday encounters to learn about different businesses and dream up ideas…

“Server, how much food gets tossed?”“Doctor, what clinical trials aren’t being filled?”“Bar owner, what’s this land used for during the day?”“Dentist, what new equipment are you using?”

Great habit to get into 👍

$20K/Month Minimalist Phone App

Martin Morávek is the founder and developer of an Android app called minimalist phone 📱

The app has been downloaded 500,000 times.

They give you a 3-day free trial and then you pay $5/month, $15/year, or $25 one time.

Martin created the first version of the app in 2020 and apparently it is now pulling in $20,000 in revenue every month 😎

However, about 65% of that revenue goes back into paid ads to promote the app, leaving Martin with about $6500 in profit each month.

Related: could a passport photos app earn $40K+ per month?

How does Blog by Number help you make money?

Blog by Number aims to help you build and grow a blog that gets tons of traffic from Google and other search engines.

The training mentions 83 ways of making money from a blog, but they all seem to fall under five main groups.

These are…

Affiliate marketingDisplay adsSponsorshipsCreating and selling digital productsSelling services

As the sales page puts it…

Need ideas to make money with your blog? Here are over 80 different ways you can monetize your blog!

There are ideas for digital products, services, affiliates or products!

The Blog by Number course shows you how to make money from your blog from day one through different methods.

IMO, the final sentence above can be misleading. Although possible, it’s extremely unlikely to make money from a blog that quickly.

Learn more about bloggingWho is Blog by Number for?

Blog by Number mainly sells itself as a platform for moms eager to take up blogging…

Are you a busy mom but want to start a blog?

This course is for you.

It is for those who only have an hour here or there to work on a side hobby.

It is for moms who want to share their voice with the world but are too fearful to start a blog because it is too ‘technical’ and takes too much time.

I’ve put all the resources you’ll need in the course to start your successful blog!

Having gone through the training myself, I can say that it’ll likely be of use to non-moms too. Despite Suzi’s marketing, I didn’t find anything about Blog by Number that limits it to moms.

70+ ways how to make money online (including easy options)Does Suzi Whitford have a good reputation?

For the most part, yes.

During my research of Suzi Whitford and Blog by Number, I found far more praise than criticism for the training and its creator.

Suzi owns multiple blogs. The main two of which look to be doing well according to Ahrefs (especially Start a Mom Blog)…

blog by number review start a mom blog trafficStart a Mom Blog trafficblog by number review freedom by number trafficFreedom By Number traffic

The only thing that gives me pause is that I didn’t find many testimonials for Suzi’s Blog by Number training.

I expected to find quite a few since “almost 100,000” people have apparently downloaded her free course about starting a blog. And Suzi also has more than 20k YouTube subscribers and over 40k Pinterest followers.

With such a big audience, I’m surprised not to see more reports from people who have signed up to her premium training.

Regardless, below is a video from Suzi’s YouTube channel so you can get a feel for her style…

Are Blog by Number students getting results?

It’s complicated.

As I’ve already mentioned, I only found a few testimonials for the training, all on the sales page.

For example…

blog by number review student resultsblog by number review student testimonialsblog by number review student reviews

The above three testimonials are the only ones I’ve seen that report tangible results, rather than offering empty platitudes.

For a course produced by such a popular blogger, and which I believe has sold quite well, I would have expected to see many more testimonials like the above.

Unfortunately, such reports seem to be rare for students of Blog by Number.

How much does Blog by Number cost?

The listed price for Blog by Number is $147.

Alternatively, you can buy the upgraded Blog Building Bundle for $197.

The bundle includes extras such as…

Several ebooks on various aspects of blogging200 Stock Images“4 Super Valuable coaching call replays”

After you buy, you will be offered some upsells.

If you opted for the $147 package, you’ll first be offered an upsell for the Blog Building Bundle for an extra $48 (so $195 total).

Even though the upsell page claims you’re getting it for 90% off, it seems like it’s only $2 cheaper this way than if you’d opted for it in the very beginning. Having noticed this, I can’t help but question the course’s marketing and its wording 😕

Then there are two more upsells…

The Blog Growth Cookbook: 208 Recipes for Success
This costs an additional $13 and apparently features a bunch of traffic strategies, blog post ideas, and ways to grow your email list. The page for this upsell claims it’s offered at a 50% discount.Printables by Number
This costs an additional $147 and is described as “everything you need to design, create, and sell profitable digital products on auto-pilot.” The regular price is allegedly $197.

Finally, you’ll need to set aside some extra money for hosting. Using the hosting John recommends within the training, it will apparently cost you $11/month to host your blog.

Blog by Number Discount?

I’ve searched high and low for a discount or coupon code for Blog by Number, but have yet to find mention of one anywhere.

There is a place to enter a discount code on the Blog by Number checkout, but it looks like you’ll have to pay the full price if you want access.

Refund Policy

Blog by Number does not give refunds.

The official word…

Due to the nature of the products, all sales of products and/or services on this website are final. No refunds will be issued. All digital content will be released at once.

We truly believe in giving more than receiving and each of our products and services is designed by keeping this core principle in mind.

The prices are intentionally kept reasonably low in price as compared to market value to give you the tools and information you need at an affordable price.

I’m not a fan of this policy, having seen lots of other online courses that deliver the content digitally and instantly, yet still offer a refund policy.

How is Blog by Number structured?

Here’s what the training looks like once you’re logged in…

blog by number review training course page

The core training is split up into 12 main modules. There are also 3 introductory modules, as well as an ending module and 2 bonus modules.

Most of the lessons seem to be in video format, although some of them only have text. The videos look well-produced and, for the most part, are short and concise.

Although some of the videos mainly feature Suzi talking into the camera, I found the training fairly comprehensive, especially considering the price tag.

The training touches upon subjects such as email, Facebook, and Pinterest marketing, legal pages, SEO, and design. There are also loads of bonuses, some of which act as a follow-up for the lessons you’ll find inside.

The biggest issue with Blog by Number IMO is the lack of a private community and support. That may also be why the training is so affordably priced. Most other (more expensive) blogging courses I’ve seen do at least have a private forum for students where they can ask for help and compare notes.

There are also some navigation issues that I found irritating. For example, you can’t even see the title of the lesson you’re on except in a small sidebar to the left, and it also doesn’t scroll down to show you where you’re at in the training.

Finally, going back to a specific lesson looks like quite the challenge. There’s no search function within the training, and the videos don’t have any chapter markings.

Green Lights 🟢

Here are a few things to like about Blog by Number…

Low price to access the core training.Minimal expense beyond the price of the training. The training is quite comprehensive, practical and step-by-step.Covers multiple traffic generation methods (eg. SEO, Facebook, Pinterest). It looks like the training is regularly updated.Tons of bonuses provided within the training.Red Flags 🚩

A few things about Blog by Number that might give you pause…

Hard to find students reporting significant positive results from following the training. No search functionality; hard to find specific lessons.Doesn’t seem to come with any form of support; no private community.Claims you can make money blogging “from day one,” which is misleading IMO.Numerous upsells after you buy the core training. No refunds.Other things you should knowA good way to think of Suzi Whitford’s training: she’s basically documented everything she’s done to build her own very successful business. When you buy the training, you get access to that documentation. You’ll find lots of handy downloads within the training, including checklists, templates, ebooks, etc.Even though the marketing for Blog by Number does not seem very shady (save for all the upsells), it does have some misleading claims. Claiming that you can make money from your blog on day one looks like an unethical way to get you to buy the course. Things like this are possible, but very unlikely. You may need to pay for updates to the course, though the official word on this isn’t very clear…

You’ll get free updates to this version of the course. If we relaunch a new version, you’ll get a big discount as an existing student to upgrade.

Despite certain claims that Blog by Number makes, you’ll be disappointed if you’re looking for a quick way to make money online.

However, if you’re looking to learn how to set up your blog without breaking the bank, Blog by Number seems like a solid choice.

Just keep in mind that you’re pretty much on your own with the course materials after you sign up, as BBN doesn’t come with a private community or any other form of support.

If you’re already achieving noticeable results with your blog, Blog by Number may come off as basic to you. I wouldn’t consider it a great choice for experienced bloggers.

Also, given the training’s no-refund policy, I’d first recommend checking Suzi’s free courses if you’re on the fence about BBN and blogging in general.

Her 6-Figure Book Deal Via TikTok$3000/Month Automated Documents$17.5K/Month No-Code Automation AgencyHow Much Money do Virtual Assistants Make?13 Side Projects in 6 years$1000/Month Super-Niche Shopify AppNew Reviews (+ $250 Giveaway)$4 Million Tech CompanyFight Your Way ThroughHer 6-Figure Book Deal Via TikTok

Check out this 14-second TikTok video from March of last year.

26-year-old Alex Aster posted that quick video describing the plot of a book she was thinking to write called Lightlark. She didn’t have a huge following on TikTok at the time, but within a day her video had racked up more than a million views 🚀

The Guardian reports

A week later, Lightlark had gone to auction and she had a six-figure deal with Amulet Books. Last month, Universal preemptively bought the film rights for, in her words, “more zeros than I’ve seen in my life”.

The book has gone on to become a bestseller and apparently there’s a movie adaptation in the works 🤑

Unfortunately, Alex thinks her TikTok success is tough to replicate…

TikTok is not, she says, “something that anyone can game”. “People see what has happened to me. And they’re like: ‘Oh, I can just make a video and get a six-figure deal.’ I wish it was like that. I wish it had been that easy”

One thing you can take away from this though, is to put your ideas out there. One might just catch fire and change your life.

$3000/Month Automated Documents

Crove is an app that lets you “automatically create repetitive business documents to streamline your workflow.”

For example, say you need to create regular invoices for your business. Grove lets you set up a form where you input a few details, click a button, and it generates the invoice as a PDF based on a template 😎

To demonstrate how powerful this can be, one of Crove’s co-founders shows how they launched a side project called eSahayak.io, which allows people in India 🇮🇳 to generate government and legal documents just by answering a few questions on their smartphone.

Apparently eSahayak is now bringing in $3000/month.

I’m thinking you could build some great solutions for paperwork-heavy businesses or institutions using Crove, similar to eSahayak.

If you’d like to try it out, Crove currently has a deal running on AppSumo with a 60-day refund policy.

$17.5K/Month No-Code Automation Agency

Compound is another no-code / low-code success story 🥳

Founder Alistair Wilson and his brother had been building their no-code skills for a while when they teamed up in 2020 and started the agency.

Things really took off when they niched down…

After pivoting to a 100% focus on eCommerce and specifically the Shopify ecosystem, sales just blew up.

Now they’re at $17,500 per month in revenue 💰

Alistair reckons there’s plenty of room for other freelancers and agencies in the space…

There is such a massive opportunity in up-and-down markets for no-code and low-code automation. I encourage other automators to pluck up the courage to start reaching out to businesses as it’s on virtually any business owner’s mind but they don’t necessarily know where to go looking for help.

How Much Money do Virtual Assistants Make?

We recently put together this article about becoming a virtual assistant 👈

That will give you a solid overview of what it’s like to be a VA and how much you can earn, so you can confidently decide if it’s the right path for you.

We’ve also profiled three virtual assistants to give you more insight 👇

Fiona Wong earns $7000/monthVictoria Nelle earns up to $1300/monthFaith Farris charges up to $55/hour

13 Side Projects in 6 years

Dominic Monn writes about his experience.

His biggest hit has been MentorCruise, a site which connects mentors and mentees 🤝

Dominic launched that in 2018 but it really took off when Covid hit, and now does $1 million a year in volume.

I found an old interview where Dom says “we have a 15% take rate” so I assume the business is profiting about $150,000 per year 🤑

I’d encourage you to read through Dom’s list of side projects. The common thread seems to be that he learns valuable lessons and makes valuable connections with each project, regardless of financial return.

$1000/Month Super-Niche Shopify App

That’d be Zippy, a zip code validation app for Shopify stores.

Founder Ashish Gupta reported a few weeks ago that he started it as a learning project while in lockdown, and it took about 16 months to get to $1000 in monthly recurring revenue.

He also tweeted

I started Zippy with no clear vision and realized that It’s always possible to grow any low-competition app to $1k-$2k MRR.

It’s interesting to look at the Shopify app store and see how many of the “most popular” apps listed there have pretty bad ratings. Looks like Shopify themselves offer a load of free apps but many of them have poor ratings (prime example).

New Reviews (+ $250 Giveaway)

My team and I are constantly reviewing courses that claim to teach you some method for making money online 💰

(We use a pretty intense 31-factor review process to assess each course, combined with feedback from real students.)

$4 Million Tech Company

Here’s a profile on the founders of Astropad, a company that makes hardware and software products for creators.

Their most famous offering is probably Luna Display, which is a dongle you plug into your laptop to transform your tablet into a second display.

Words on co-founder Matt Ronge in that profile…

Back in middle school, he built file management apps and tried to sell them on the internet. “Even though they weren’t very good, I was determined to do it,” Matt says.

Matt went on to work as a software engineer at Apple before starting Astropad.

A good reminder there that it’s okay to suck at what you do in the beginning. Stick with it long enough, and you’ll get pretty good.

Fight Your Way Through

Along the same lines, below is a quote from Ira Glass, host and producer of the Pulitzer Prize-winning This American Life 🇺🇸

Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you.

A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions.

And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take a while. It’s normal to take a while. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.
