How does Kritika Goel make money online?

Kritika Goel is an Indian travel vlogger and YouTube content creator. Her mission is to help content creators be profitable and make blogging their full-time career.

As she mentions in her November 2021 video above, Kritika has seven sources of income…

Currently, Kritika is making most of her income through sponsored content (brand deals) and affiliate marketing. Each month she earns between $600 to $3,700, depending on the brand she’s working with.

When you look at vlogging as a long-term business, your audience’s trust is very important. That’s why I take only 10-20% of the brand deals that come my way.

During the 2020 lockdown, Kritika launched her online store. She sells her Lightroom presets for $20 to $40, and various email template kits for $10. 1

In the beginning, Kritika also did a lot of sponsored trips without getting paid. Now she doesn’t accept deals like that as she finds it to be a lot of work. 2

It feels like it’s going to be fun, but you’re constantly creating content. Still, if it is a place I really want to travel to, then I will do it without the extra pay.

The smallest portion of her income comes from YouTube ad revenue, investing in shares and mutual funds, and licensing fees when brands use her content.

There are times when people reach out and ask me to write a blog post for them or use one of their links in one of my existing blog posts. Sometimes I get invited to events and I get paid to attend them, as well.

How much money does Kritika Goel make?

In the same November 2021 video, Kritika mentioned that travel vlogging is unreliable in terms of income.

During the ‘bad’ months when she is not taking brand deals, Kritika ends up making $900 to $1,200 monthly. However, in the ‘good’ months she can earn up to $4,800 or more per month.

How did Kritika Goel get started?

After graduating in 2013, Kritika worked for 4 years at a corporate job before starting her YouTube channel. Even though she paid her bills, she felt dissatisfied as she believed it was more to life than the 9 to 5. 3

In 2017, I finally decided to take the plunge and give my YouTube channel a real shot, and I’m so glad I did! Today, I’ve built an online audience of over 420,000 wonderful people, work with awesome brands, and travel to places like the Czech Republic and Hong Kong for work!

How did Kritika Goel get to where she is now?

Kritika shared her journey of becoming a successful travel vlogger in this December 2021 video…

As she mentions in the video, the essential skills you need are knowledge of geography, editing, and photography. Even though she was good at photography because of her dad, Kritika learned about editing and videography on the Internet.

When she quit her job in 2017, Kritika had some money saved but she started looking for freelance gigs to keep making money while traveling.

I used to write travel-related articles for Expedia Singapore and I would get $73 to $85 per article. Freelancing is a good way to make money when you’re in that transition phase where you quit your job and you need a side income.

Another thing she suggests doing is finding local accommodation establishments in the city you live in.

Kritika used to offer to take photos and create videos of hotels and Airbnb listings in exchange for a free one-night stay. That way she was logging her experience and building her portfolio. However, most of these arrangements were free of charge at the beginning.

When offering photos in exchange for a complimentary stay in a hotel, you can suggest creating a video for an extra price. If you already have a sample portfolio in hand, I think brands are more likely to say yes to additional proposals and pay you for them.

There are no “pre-requisites” for this course or community. It does not assume you’ve had experience as a freelancer, nor does it require this experience to be successful with the productized service model.

Having seen inside the training, I tend to agree with this. Though you are likely to make faster progress if you have some experience working with clients in the past.

It seems so, yes.

Productize & Scale was created by Brian Casel, a serial entrepreneur who has created and launched many products over the years.

Sam Shepler, who succeeded Brian as the CEO of Productize, is also the founder and CEO of Testimonial Hero, a successful done-for-you service that specializes in creating video testimonials.

The current owner of Productize & Scale is James Sowers. He also seems to have plenty of experience building and growing businesses. You can check him out on Twitter.

So from what I’ve seen, the three people who have been behind P&S over the years all appear to be legit and experienced entrepreneurs.

Are Productize & Scale students getting results?

They seem to be, yes.

While there is not much info about Productize & Scale available away from the official website, the sales page does feature some impressive testimonials for the training.

I’ve yet to hear anyone say a bad word about P&S or the people behind it, and I think we’ll see plenty more success stories coming out of it in due time.

How much does Productize & Scale cost?

Lifetime access for Productize & Scale will cost you $497.

Keep in mind that you might want to put out some extra money for hosting and a domain for your website, if you don’t already have one.

The same goes for productized business costs, although it doesn’t look like they’re necessary to fully implement the training early on. But if you’re serious about building this kind of business then you will need a budget to eventually hire a team.

The core training is broken up into 15 modules that are further broken up into 3 core sections…

All of the lessons are in video format, and all of them can be downloaded in audio (MP3) or video (MP4) format. Most of them are over 10 minutes long and the content is marked with timestamps.

Despite the lack of a search function, the course is still easy to navigate. IMO, this is nicely complimented by the well organized, reasonably sized modules.

The course goes over all the crucial steps of creating and running a productized business. I found it to be quite comprehensive for fans of this business model, from beginner to advanced.

There are additional resources included with each lesson, such as workshops, templates, and spreadsheets.

Finally, joining Productize & Scale also grants you access to a private Slack community…

How does the Rat Race Rebellion course help you make money?

Chris Durst’s course aims to help you find a freelance or other work-from-home (WFH) job.

Within the training they distinguish between finding work as an employee vs an independent contractor (or “freelancer”).

They show you how to do both, so you would either be running your own business as a freelancer, or you would find a remote job and be an employee of the company you work for.

Christine Durst (aka Chris) teaches the course and yes, she does seem to have a good reputation.

From RRR’s about page…

Before co-founding Staffcentrix and Rat Race Rebellion, Chris was the CEO of the Internet’s first denominated “Virtual Assistant” practice, which was launched in 1995.

So she’s been in the work-from-home industry for a long time, and I get the impression from watching her videos in the course that she’s the real deal.

Chris has also apparently appeared on popular media such as Good Morning America, The Today Show, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, etc.

Are Rat Race Rebellion students getting results?

It’s easy enough to find people praising the Rat Race Rebellion training.

However, given how popular the RRR website is – and how many people have presumably signed up for the course – I was hoping for more.

Specifically, I would have expected to see more students reporting that they’d actually landed paying work after following the training.

But such reports seem to be lacking for this course.

How much does the Rat Race Rebellion training cost?

Lifetime access to this training will cost you $49.

There are no additional costs required to fully utilize the training.

Rat Race Rebellion Discount?

I’ve searched high and low for a discount or coupon code for Rat Race Rebellion, but have yet to find mention of one anywhere. However, there is a place to enter a discount code on the Rat Race Rebellion checkout.

So it looks like you’ll have to pay the full price if you want access.

Refund Policy

I didn’t come across any info regarding the refund policy during my research of Rat Race Rebellion.

This leads me to believe that RRR does not give refunds

How is the Rat Race Rebellion course structured?

Here’s what the training looks like once you log in and open one of the lessons…

All lessons – save for the intro and bonus lessons – are mainly in video format, their length ranging from 5 to 25 minutes. To go through all the videos, it’ll take you approximately 3.5 hours.

However, this doesn’t include the time required to go through entire lessons. Nearly all of them have various additional resources and/or action steps.

The names of the 4 main modules do a good job of explaining what’s covered:

The videos aren’t segmented and there’s no search function. But the training is quite short overall, so it’s hard to get lost.

My main knock on the RRR course is that it seemingly hasn’t been updated for a few years.

It looks like the training videos were made in 2019 and haven’t been updated since then, and some of the resources link to sites that no longer exist.

Finally, the course videos keep mentioning a private Facebook group for students, but this was apparently discontinued in 2019.

If you’re already having success working from home, you’ll probably be disappointed with what Rat Race Rebellion has to offer in their premium training.

However, if you’re new to working online, or are struggling to find a remote job, you should find this course to be worthwhile. There are no refunds, but it’s reasonably priced and it will get you started with best practices and strategies for finding work online.

Modern Mastery aims to help you start and scale a one-person business.

The official word from Dan…

I will teach you everything you need to know to grow and monetize a solo-business on social media.

There is a lot within MM and many paths you can take, but IMO most people seem to leverage the training to grow an audience on social media and sell some kind of freelance service (Dan talks a lot about “landing clients”).

I’ve taken a look inside and found this description accurate enough. MM covers a lot of ground and so you’re likely to find a lot of helpful content in there regardless of your specific entrepreneurial goals.

Even experienced entrepreneurs can find some good value here, particularly within the Discord community. Dan and a bunch of other experienced entrepreneurs seem to hang out there regularly.

Yes.

Dan has a fairly big following on social media.

Most of his audience seems to be on Twitter (200k followers) and Instagram (250k followers). Nearly 50k people follow him on LinkedIn, and a bit more than that on YouTube.

My research uncovered pretty much nothing but praise for Dan and his teachings. Not only do people seem to like his writing style, they also praise his communication skills, and even call his videos addictive.

Also, apparently more than 1600 people have signed up for Modern Mastery.

Are Modern Mastery students getting results?

Browse through the official Modern Mastery webpages and you’ll find no shortage of student testimonials.

For example…

Many of them, like the ones shown above, are quite impressive IMO. And then there are plenty more testimonials which stick to general praise; hard to know if those particular students have seen real results.

My feeling though is that the training proves effective for most people who follow it consistently.

How much does Modern Mastery cost?

The listed price of Dan Koe’s course ranges from $9/month to $297/year.

There are three tiers and their payment options…

Apprentice Tier – $9/month ($108/year)
“Get access to courses, challenges, and accountability to start your journey on the right foot.”Master Tier – $27/month ($324/year)
“Dive deep into advanced marketing, social media, and customer acquisition strategies. Fast track your way to 5 figure months.”Actualized Tier – $297/year
“Get access to the bonus course, Make It Profitable, when you pay yearly. Increase your prices, sell like crazy, and build undeniable authority.”

Personally, I think the middle tier is best for most people. You get almost everything from the top tier but don’t have to pay for a whole year up front.

Also, you may need to spend more on some tools that Modern Mastery recommends within the training. For example, Dan recommends using ConvertKit for building a mailing list. That does have a free plan but can get quite pricey as you build your list.

As far as I can see, none of the recommended tools are 100% necessary to follow the training – and many of them are free or at least have free trials – but you should still expect to spend some money on such tools to make the most of Modern Mastery.

Modern Mastery Discount?

I’ve searched high and low for a discount or coupon code for Modern Mastery, but have yet to find mention of one anywhere. However, there is a place to enter a discount code on the Modern Mastery checkout.

You can get discounted access to MM if you buy The 2 Hour Writer, another training by Dan Koe. After buying The 2 Hour Writer, you will be offered access to the Master Tier of MM for only $5 for the first month.

(Btw, that’s how I signed up for Modern Mastery.)

Refund Policy

Modern Mastery does not give refunds

The official word…

The information inside is time tested and proven to get results. When you pay to join, you gain access to strategies that have the potential of making you $100K+ over your lifetime as a one-person business owner.

We will not let you join, swipe the information, and refund – but you can cancel.

‍We do not offer refunds, only cancellations – in which, your access to the community and membership platform will be revoked at the end of your billing period.

I’m not a fan of this policy, having seen lots of other online courses that deliver the content digitally and instantly, yet still offer a refund policy.

On the plus side, if you pay monthly for Modern Mastery, you can cancel any time.

How is Modern Mastery structured?

THIS platform is for articles and trainings. It is the resource library.

This is where you’ll find most of the business lessons and workshops.

There are dozens of separate pages/lessons within this section, focusing mainly on idea generation, marketing, customer acquisition, and building an audience on social media.

Lifestyle Design

The sub-sections here tell you what to expect:

Many of the lessons have text + video, but quite a few of them are text only, more like blog posts really.

Some lessons are presented in the form of interviews, so they are usually more than an hour long. Most of them have notable timestamps for easier navigation, but getting back to certain info still feels challenging.

I found the training to be quite chaotic, covering a lot of ground but in no obvious order or sequence. It was hard to know where to start.

However, I think it’s important to note that Modern Mastery offers a lot for its price tag. Aside from all the core content, there are many bonuses and the community looks quite active.

Speaking of the community, here’s what it looks like once you have access…

I found the Discord server to be quite active and helpful. There are dozens of posts per day in several of the channels.

If Modern Mastery was just the training alone, I don’t think it would be nearly as valuable. This community aspect really takes it to the next level.

Should you join Modern Mastery?

IMO, Modern Mastery is a good starting point for people new to entrepreneurship who don’t know where to start.

MM covers a lot of ground and there’s plenty there to help newbies build an audience and start making money online.

I suspect the value provided in the community will also have many experienced entrepreneurs happy to renew their membership.

All told, it is remarkably good value at $27/month.

If you’re a fan of the free content Dan puts out on social media, then I’m confident you’ll enjoy being a member of Modern Mastery.

$5000/Month Selling Reels Templates

Maxim Kartuzov – aka Null Root – tweeted back in August that he built this app with his girlfriend in 5 weeks…

Reels Templates is an app which provides the most trendy reels templates in one place and updates them every week!

5 weeks after launch the app had 121 paid subscribers and was earning $603/month.

3 months after launch, it was up to $5000 in monthly revenue [image error]

One promotion strategy that looks to be working well for Maxim: getting influencers to promote the app in exchange for a PRO account.

The Reels app isn’t Maxim’s first rodeo; he has several other apps online including this freemium collage and poster maker which apparently has 5+ million downloads.

Here’s how he made his first $ online…

How She Turned $300 into a $2 Million Business

Ellen Yin is the founder of Cubicle to Ceo, “a top 1% business podcast and a media platform empowering women entrepreneurs” [image error]

Her story…

I quit my corporate marketing job five years ago…without a backup plan.

After landing my first freelance marketing client a month into my job search, I swore off sending out resumes for good. By re-investing my profits back into the business over and over again, I bootstrapped that first $300 client project into over $2 MILLION dollars in revenue by age 28.

She shares more about how she got started in a recent interview…

those first two years really in my business, I was really focused on acquiring more one-on-one clients and growing that boutique social media marketing agency.

Ellen’s second client hired her to manage social media comments and respond to customer queries.

Doesn’t sound like much, but she made the most of the opportunity…

very quickly I was able to offer content ideas, strategy, ideas and that basically within a few weeks evolved into me taking over their entire social media strategy and account.

Before long she had that client on board for a $4000 monthly retainer [image error]

Ellen leveraged her success with the same client to find more like them, and within a year was earning six figures with just a handful of clients.

Since then, Ellen has evolved her business greatly, and she no longer does client work.

But she remembers those early days fondly…

That first $300 freelance project is what kicked everything off… I said, all right, let’s see where this path can take me. Let’s see how many clients I can get and take it to the moon.

A lot of people would turn their nose up at a simple $300 freelance project, but opportunities like that can lead to big things.

Best not pass them up.
