Check out this profile of Irshad Karim, an art teacher who was making $2000/month via Patreon back in 2018.

Nowadays he has almost 2000 patrons paying him a combined CA$11,824 per month (about US$9170) 🤑

Irshad got started in an interesting way: by creating the subreddit r/ArtFundamentals in 2014. That subreddit now has 250,000 members.

Off the back of Reddit, Irshad launched his website drawabox.com in 2015. According to SimilarWeb, that site now gets 1.3 million visits per month 📈

You’ll see a banner atop that site for a sponsor called New Masters Academy, and the site also sells art supplies and resources, both their own and those of affiliate partners.

Oh, and Irshad has a YouTube channel with 110K subscribers. All told, I suspect he’s pulling in at least $20,000 per month from the online empire he’s built 😎

10,851 Affiliate Programs

You get some for free at Affilisting.com 👈

For the full list of 10,851 affiliate programs in 500+ niches, it’s $99 for lifetime access.

I got access earlier this week and within a few minutes found several courses with affiliate programs that would be a good fit for eBiz Facts.

It’s a handy resource if you’re into affiliate marketing but don’t want to spend a ton of time searching for affiliate programs in your niche.

Google My Business Marketing Tip

Nick Loper has a new article/podcast detailing 16 marketing tips that have been working well for some pros in his audience 👍

You’ll find in there tips from the likes of:

A local kids tutor earning $10K/monthA full-time freelance bookkeeperAn online chef and nutrition coachSomeone earning $1000/month reselling books

My favorite tip is #2 on the list, something simple you can do if you or your clients have a Google My Business profile.

Nicole Berg tested this with 24 clients, posting regular updates to their profiles…

“I was able to see that month over month, my traffic has been steadily increasing to the point where today it is the channel that delivers the most traffic to the site,” Nicole explained.

Nicole said she posts about 3-6 updates a week. She typically creates batches of posts and uses SocialChamp to automate publishing so she can “set it and forget it.”

Basically, you end up treating your GMB profile the way you would a Twitter or Instagram profile. It seems Google likes to reward active profiles by giving them more visibility, similar to traditional social media platforms.

$23,335/Month LinkedIn Automation

Alex Berman reports that his company Taplio recently hit that milestone 🚀

Taplio is software that helps you “drive more business from LinkedIn”…

Create better LinkedIn content, identify new leads and reach out to them automatically.

Best I can tell, it only launched earlier this year – that’s some 🔥 growth – and it costs $35/month.

Here’s a 10-minute video demo of the software.

Software like this always gets me thinking about using it to offer a service to busy businesses or entrepreneurs. In this case, you could create a bunch of LinkedIn content for the client, have them quickly review what you’ve got lined up each week, and they pay you a retainer.

You could offer the first week or month for free to see if the value is there before they start paying you.

$35K/Month Sustainability Online Course

Auste Valikonyte is the co-founder of Sustain Academy, an online “sustainability program for impact-driven professionals.”

They only launched the course last September – full story here – starting with a tiny market before going global 🌎

the course has been in high demand since we started. However, we first tested and validated the concept for the Lithuanian market (that’s where we both are from) before working on it further.

Be honest: if someone came to you saying they were launching an online sustainability course for the 🇱🇹 Lithuanian market, would you have taken them seriously?

Right, me neither.

One key to the success of Sustain Academy: connecting with 150 experts in sustainability and convincing many of them to teach parts of the course.

This not only got them excellent high-quality content, but they were also able to leverage the audiences of those experts to spread the word.

Could you do something like this for a niche or industry you’re passionate about? 🤔

Six-Figure Niche Staffing Marketplace

Another niche success story: Locumate “connects pharmacies and temporary pharmacists (called locums in Australia) through their marketplace.”

Despite only launching in January and being focused on a specific niche in a relatively small market (Australia), Locumate is apparently on track to generate $100,000+ in revenue in its first year 📈

The company is run by a husband and wife team, Surge Singh and Kavita Nadan. Kavita owns a pharmacy herself, so she had lots of insight and connections in the industry.

This is another angle to consider for whatever industry you’re interested in or have access to: what connections or transactions in that industry could you help facilitate? 🧐

If it’s tough for two groups in that industry to do business, there might be an opportunity for a marketplace to make it easier.

Zero-Click Content

Amanda Natividad writes about the concept of zero-click content, which seems to be the best kind of content to post if you want to grow an audience on pretty much every social media channel.

Zero-Click content is content that offers valuable, standalone insights (or simply engaging material), with no need to click. Clicking might be additive, but it’s not required.

Social media platforms like Twitter don’t want users clicking links to other sites – they want to keep people on their platform for as long as possible – so they tend to promote link-less content.

Amanda’s insights in that article are worth paying attention to, since she grew her own Twitter account from 1k to 60k followers in a year 🚀

Hey, I’m Niall Doherty.

I quit my last 9-to-5 job back in 2010.

Since then, I’ve earned my living online in various ways. Last year (2021) I earned $208,536 from my laptop.

I’m on a mission to accurately rate and review all the best online business courses. My team and I are spending many hours investigating these courses and getting feedback from real students.

All that to say: we know a thing or two about such courses and making money online.

The Best Blogging Course?

We’re on a mission to find the best blogging course, based on our own extensive research plus feedback from real students.

Becoming a Blogger seems like a decent course but it doesn’t make the top of our list…

How does Becoming a Blogger help you make money?

Becoming a Blogger aims to help you build and grow a blog that gets tons of traffic from Google and other search engines.

It teaches you how to make money from your blog in a myriad of ways, including affiliate marketing, sponsored and guest posts, and selling your own products.

Here’s how Cate explains what you can learn in the course…

becoming a blogger review course lessonsLearn more about bloggingWho is Becoming a Blogger for?

Cate Rosales sells Becoming a Blogger as a platform mainly intended for beginners to blogging…

I designed this course for beginners and hobby bloggers that want to start making money from their blog. Although I do have some intermediate and advanced bloggers that benefit from the course as well, most of the content will be useful to those that do not yet have experience growing their audience or monetizing their blog yet.

Not only would I agree with this description, I also appreciate the honesty. Many courses claim they can be useful for advanced bloggers, when that is rarely the case.

Be aware, however, that building up a successful blog takes a lot of time and commitment, regardless of how you learn.

Becoming a Blogger makes no secret of this, noting on their sales page…

And I’m not going to sugar coat this: there will be work involved. I worked my booty off for several years to get where I am today, and I still work hard every day.

Blogging is fun and flexible, but it’s still work. Especially in the beginning. You are essentially building an online business from scratch.

70+ ways how to make money online (including easy options)Does Cate Rosales have a good reputation?

For the most part, yes.

Cate seems like a legit blogger – her main blog Sweet & Simple Life has been around for several years and she seems to earn a decent income from it.

Cate also hands out quite a bit of free and helpful content. Her private group is free to enter, even for people that haven’t bought her course. This is a big green light for her because people can easily get a feel for her community.

However, her paid courses don’t appear to be all that popular. I’d understand this if Becoming a Blogger was fairly new, but it seems to have been around for a few years already.

While I can confirm that the course has been updated since it launched, it’s unclear how often it receives updates.

Are Becoming a Blogger students getting results?

The sales page for Becoming a Blogger does not show a single success story. You need to enter the course’s checkout page to see testimonials. But even then, they seem to be rather scarce. IMO, they’re still missing relevant info, like when did the students take the course, and whether or not they made any money…

becoming a blogger review student results

In short, I would have expected to see way more testimonials for this course during my research.

How much does Becoming a Blogger cost?

Full lifetime access to Becoming a Blogger costs $147. This also means you’re getting all future course updates for free, should they ever come.

That is a one-time payment. As of this writing, there is no payment plan option.

Just keep in mind that there are a few additional costs, such as for setting up your own website. Cate alludes to this on the sales page…

I do not have a lot of guidance to provide with regard to free blogging platforms, like WIX, Weebly, or Blogger. In fact, I don’t recommend them if your desire is to build a profitable blogging business. If you want to build a blog using a FREE platform, this course probably isn’t the right fit for you.

Becoming a Blogger Discount?

I’ve searched high and low for a discount or coupon code for Becoming a Blogger, but have yet to find mention of one anywhere. However, there is a place to enter a discount code on the Becoming a Blogger checkout.

So it looks like you’ll have to pay the full price if you want access.

Refund Policy

The course specifies a 30-day money-back guarantee, but it seems that the refund is action based.

The sales page mentions an action based-refund, yet the action itself is unknown…

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you can contact me at anytime during the first (30) days after buying the course, and receive a full refund. The only requirement is proof that you went through the course, put in the work, and didn’t find the content beneficial.

Do you need to go through the entire course? Or just a certain percentage of it? What does “putting in the work” consist of? I can’t tell.

Confusingly, the course’s checkout page simply says…

If you’re unhappy for any reason, just contact us within 30 days of purchase and we’ll give you your money back.

So it’s unclear here if the refund policy is no-questions-asked or action-based.

How is Becoming a Blogger structured?

Here’s what the course looks like once you’re signed in…

becoming a blogger review course curriculum

There are a total of 21 modules. Each module is pretty long, with loads of text. Only a few lessons have videos; the majority of them are text-only. Personally I prefer video-based courses, but perhaps text-based isn’t so bad for a blogging course.

becoming a blogger review course modules

The modules seem really well planned out. The course starts off slow with some pretty basic blogging info, but it is promptly followed by ways of making money through blogging. More than half of the modules are about making your blog profitable.

I can get over the lack of video lessons, but it seems like there is no search option in the course. It has many lessons, yet it still seems rather difficult to navigate or refer back to specifics.

Finally, there is also a Becoming a Blogger Facebook group. It has more than 35 thousand members, some of whom ask questions or help others out. Every day, Cate further encourages them to share their blogs and social media pages.

Green Lights 🟢

Some positive points for Becoming a Blogger…

Clear instruction, easy to follow, and step-by-step.Covers multiple traffic generation methods (eg. affiliate marketing, SEO, social media).Fairly low price compared to other blogging courses. No overhyped promises or shady marketing.Active private community.Cate Rosales walks her talk.Red Flags 🚩

A few things to be wary of regarding Becoming a Blogger…

Lack of success stories from students. No search functionality; hard to find specific lessons. Not enough video lessons for my liking.Unclear refund policy.Other things you should knowA good way to think of Cate’s training: she’s basically documented everything she’s done to build her own successful business. When you buy the course, you get access to that documentation. The documentation is mostly text-based, so you’ll likely be disappointed with the course if you prefer video lessons. You’ll find some handy downloads within the training, including checklists, spreadsheets, etc.Despite having so many members, the Facebook group for Becoming a Blogger doesn’t reveal many success stories, either. The group still looks rather useful, though. Maybe the success stories are lacking simply because blogging isn’t the fastest way to make money online.👇 Subscribe to eBiz Weekly 👇

Should you join Becoming a Blogger?

Because of a lack of success stories, I can’t seem to figure out whether the course’s students are satisfied with their purchase.

What I can tell is that there’s a good chance you’ll be disappointed by Becoming a Blogger if you’re an experienced blogger.

On the other hand, if you’re new to blogging, you will likely benefit from Cate’s straight-forward approach and her thorough instructions on how to monetize your blog.

If you’re willing to put forth the time and effort, what Cate teaches can be a reliable way to make money online.

And, as mentioned, the course is quite inexpensive compared to many other blogging courses.

How does Superstar Blogging help you make money?

Superstar Blogging consists of two courses. One is focused on writing, and the other one and blogging, specifically travel blogging. In this review, I’ll be focusing on the latter.

It’s called Business of Travel Blogging, and it aims to help you build and grow a blog that gets tons of traffic from Google and other search engines.

Module 7 of the course is all about how to monetize that traffic. Matt covers a few ways to do this, including…

Affiliate marketingCreating and selling your own digital products (eg. an ebook)Display ads

As Nomadic Matt himself describes it…

This program will teach you the business of blogging. I show you how I grew my website, teach you to grow your traffic, dominate in SEO, make money, and build your blogging empire. This program teaches you the skills and gives you the tools you need to build a successful website in any niche!

Learn more about bloggingWho is Superstar Blogging for?

Matt’s blogging masterclass sells itself as training for bloggers of all experience levels, regardless of the chosen niche. As his Q&A section on the sales page says…

This program is about starting an online business. While I talk a lot about my experience in travel, you don’t need to have a travel focus to get something out of this. It helps but it’s not that important.

I would agree with Matt that other bloggers can get something out of it, but likely not that much. IMO, it’s actually pretty important for somebody to be focused on travel to get the most out of this course.

This sentiment is seconded by numerous travel bloggers, most of whom credit this course for helping to kick start their career.

With that in mind, I’d also agree with Matt that even more experienced travel bloggers can learn a thing or two here.

70+ ways how to make money online (including easy options)Does Nomadic Matt have a good reputation?

For the most part, yes.

Nomadic Matt seems legit, as he’s been doing this for over a decade. He’s likely served as an inspiration for many hardcore travel fans and blog owners.

Even though the SEO section of his blogging course was criticized years ago, it has been updated. People who have completed his course during that time seem to be much more satisfied with it now.

Unfortunately, Matt stepped back from blogging in February 2022. So, while his reputation seems solid now, we’ve yet to see how it will be affected by this move.

Business of Travel Blogging hasn’t been updated for more than a year at the time of this writing. How often will it get updates? Will it get any? Time will tell.

Are Superstar Blogging students getting results?

Browse through the official Superstar Blogging sales page and you’ll find no shortage of student testimonials…

superstar blogging review student results

It’s worth noting that pretty much every success story I’ve seen comes from a student who started their business in 2021 or earlier.

If you take a closer look at Stacia’s site, you’ll see that she’s likely abandoned it after taking the course…

superstar blogging review stacia’s siteThis and similar screenshots below via Ahrefs.

Jeremy’s site, while indeed bigger, isn’t exactly on the rise either…

superstar blogging review jeremy’s site

Trang, on the other hand, seems to be taking care of her site, but her organic traffic is down as well…

superstar blogging review trang’s site

For such an influential travel blogging course, I would have expected to see more recent testimonials during my research.

How much does Superstar Blogging cost?

Full lifetime access to Business of Travel Blogging costs $99. This also means you’re getting all future course updates for free, should they ever come.

That is a one-time payment. As of this writing, there is no payment plan option.

The course’s price seems to change frequently, though. At the start of 2022, for instance, it cost $99 per month. Perhaps the price has been lowered because of Matt’s departure from blogging?

There are a few additional costs to be aware of after signing up. You’ll only need a domain early on, but these costs will likely increase as you scale up. Not too big of a deal, but I would have liked to see Matt mention this on the course sales page.

Superstar Blogging Discount?

I’ve searched high and low for a discount or coupon code but have yet to find mention of one anywhere. However, there is a place to enter a discount code on the Superstar Blogging checkout.

Nevertheless, it looks like you’ll have to pay the full price to gain access.

Refund Policy

The Superstar Blogging sales page specifies a 14-day money-back guarantee, which they seem to call a “trial period”…

You can test drive this program for 14 days. If you don’t like it, you can get a full refund. No questions asked. Easy peasy!

I haven’t seen anyone reporting issues getting a refund on their purchase, so you can rest easy with this guarantee.

How is Superstar Blogging structured?

Once you enter the course, you’ll be greeted with an introductory message, followed with a list of all course lessons…

superstar blogging review website interface

Unfortunately, the interface doesn’t work very well. For starters, the introductory message shown above stays even after you start completing lessons. Also, there doesn’t seem to be a search function at all, so coming back to specific lessons can be tricky.

I was also disappointed with the lack of video lessons in this course. It seems like every single lesson in the Business of Travel Blogging is text-based. Granted, they do have lots of images, especially where they really are needed. Take the WordPress setup guide, for instance…

superstar blogging review text instructionsThis would have probably been easier to explain over video, but at least there are screenshots to complement the text instructions.

There are nearly 70 lessons in the training, and all of them seem both long and informative, so I can’t complain too much. The course also provides lots of extra resources, such as various handy PDF files, email templates, and access to other course students.

Another big issue, though, is that the Superstar Blogging forum seems deserted…

superstar blogging review forum

Even though there are some relatively new posts, neither of them has received any feedback.

The Facebook group isn’t doing much better either, as it has less than 1000 members, and only had four posts in the entire month when I checked it out.

Green Lights 🟢

Low price to access the core training. The training is practical and step-by-step.14-day free trial. No hype or sleazy sales tactics. No upsells.Red Flags 🚩

A few things about Superstar Blogging that might give you pause…

Should you join Superstar Blogging?

Business of Travel Blogging is a relatively low-priced course that offers a solid bang for your buck.

However, if you are not a travel blogger, or if you are a blogging veteran, you may be disappointed with Nomadic Matt’s training.

If you’re on the fence about it, it’s probably worth your while to take a chance on it given that their refund policy is solid.

Just don’t expect to get the latest info, or any feedback from the community. I get the impression that the training has been somewhat abandoned in recent years, which makes me hesitant to recommend it in place of a few other courses that are much more active (see below).

Our mission is to find the best blogging course, based on extensive research plus feedback from real students.

Food Blogger Pro is one of the better courses we’ve seen to date…

How does Food Blogger Pro help you make money?

Food Blogger Pro aims to help you build and grow a blog that gets tons of traffic from Google and other search engines.

Food Blogger Pro also touches on various ways of monetizing a blog – eg. via affiliate marketing, ads, and sponsored content.

Learn more about bloggingWho is Food Blogger Pro for?

Food Blogger Pro sells itself as training that’s mainly intended for food bloggers, but it may also be helpful to others…

The tutorials can help any blogger, but they’re tailored to food bloggers who are interested in starting, growing, or increasing revenue. Career bloggers may find some helpful tips, tricks, and industry trends on Food Blogger Pro, but the membership is not intended for those who are blogging full-time.

Based on blogger testimonials on the sales page, the description above looks accurate enough. Many of them regret not taking the course earlier, claiming that it would have made growing their websites considerably easier.

70+ ways how to make money online (including easy options)Does Food Blogger Pro have a good reputation?

Yes.

Lindsay and Bjork Ostrom seem like legit folk, and so does the rest of the team. What really caught my attention reputation-wise is the Experts section. Here, you can see how each person on the team contributes to the course.

Another great thing in this regard is that Pinch of Yum, the Ostroms’ site, seems to be doing really well. The following graph makes them even more reputable in my eyes…

food blogger pro review pinch of yumAbove: graph from Ahrefs showing organic traffic and backlink growth for Pinch of Yum

In terms of sheer content, this is one of the biggest courses I’ve seen to date. It may take you several months just to go through everything it has to offer!

The only thing that may give you pause here is that the testimonials rarely talk about money made from following this course. That’s likely because it usually takes a lot of time and hard work before a blog becomes seriously profitable.

Nevertheless, FBP seems to receive lots of praise and very little criticism.

Speaking of which…

Are Food Blogger Pro students getting results?

It’s easy enough to find students of Food Blogger Pro reporting impressive results.

For example…

food blogger pro review student result kimfood blogger pro review student result rodneyfood blogger pro review student result kasey

Even though there aren’t any numbers shown, or even dates for these testimonials, looking up their domains on Ahrefs reveal impressive results.

Whenever the owner of Hot Rod’s Recipes took the course, it really does seem like it’s been doing wonders for him…

food blogger pro review hot rod’s recipes

The same can be said for Let Them Eat Gluten Free Cake…

food blogger pro review let them eat gluten free cake

Hard to tell exactly how effective Food Blogger Pro actually is. But I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. Considering the results shown above, it most likely produces great results if you put in the work.

How much does Food Blogger Pro cost?

Food Blogger Pro has two payment plans:

Quarterly, which costs $99Yearly, which costs $350

Not only do you save up $46 per year with the yearly plan, you also get access to Nutrifox, which generates nutrition labels like those found on the back of food products. Bought separately, Nutrifox costs $9 per month or $89 per year.

There are no other differences between the two plans, so we can’t really say that FBP is forcing you to go for the yearly plan. It is a shame how there is no monthly plan, however.

food blogger pro review course plans

Just keep in mind that blogging has some additional expenses, although they’re not substantial. The only thing you’ll need to pay for at the very start is website hosting.

Most other expenses seem to be necessary only if you’re looking to speed up the process of growing your blog. I’d prefer if they mentioned this on the sales page, but they at least go through it inside of the course.

Food Blogger Pro Discount?

There were no coupons for Food Blogger Pro at the time of writing.

However, they do offer them from time to time on their Coupons page. Your best bet is probably to check that page frequently.

Refund Policy

The sales page for Food Blogger Pro specifies a 60-day money-back guarantee…

Our 60-day money-back guarantee allows you the time to explore Food Blogger Pro for nearly two months to see if our community is the right fit for you.

If you change your mind within 60 days of joining, we’ll give you a 100% refund — no questions asked.

I haven’t seen anyone reporting issues getting a refund on their purchase, so you can rest easy with this guarantee.

How is Food Blogger Pro structured?

Here’s what Food Blogger Pro’s dashboard looks like once you’re logged in:

food blogger pro review dashboard

Something unique about this dashboard is the focus on forum discussions. They are quite easy to find, and so is the Crush Your Goals section which acts as a shortcut to most visited lessons.

There’s also a live chat in the bottom right corner (shown above) which is a handy way to access the support team.

Food Blogger Pro impressed me even more with the material offered, though. There are a whopping 79 modules, and they seem to cover it all: blogging basics, culinary advice, blog monetization, photo and video editing… you name it!

Better yet, these don’t feel rushed. Most of them have many short videos, which is a good thing for holding attention. Most modules last 30+ minutes total. The videos don’t have subtitles, but there is a text version right underneath each one.

This course also comes with plenty of bonus materials. It has many checklists, some templates (such as an email template), and a course tracker to remind you of your current progress. Given the amount of core material provided, the latter will probably be of huge assistance to you.

The team behind Food Blogger Pro also often organizes live calls that you can easily find and join from the Live option.

Finally, there’s a forum where members can discuss various topics and ask for help. It looked quite active when I checked it, with the majority of topics having new comments within the last month or so…

Here are a few things to like about Food Blogger Pro…

Surprisingly comprehensive core training.Covers multiple traffic generation methods (eg. SEO, Facebook, Pinterest).Lindsay and Bjork Ostrom walk their talk.No overhyped promises or shady marketing. Most students seem to rate the course highly.Students get access to an active and helpful private community.Excellent refund policy.Regularly updated.Weekly live group calls.Red Flags 🚩

Some knocks on Food Blogger Pro…

Student success stories seem to be lacking some details (e.g. date joined, earnings). It’s not made clear on the sales page how much you’ll need to invest in your business beyond the price of the training. No monthly subscription plan.Other things you should knowA good way to think of Lindsay and Bjork’s training: they’ve basically documented everything they’ve done to build their own very successful business. When you subscribe to the course, you get access to that documentationFor now, Food Blogger Pro seems to always have its doors open for new students. It closed its doors at least once around 2016, but it seems like this hasn’t happened again since. You’ll find lots of handy downloads within the training, including checklists, templates, spreadsheets, etc.👇 Subscribe to eBiz Weekly 👇

Should you join Food Blogger Pro?

If you are committed to creating a food blog, you can’t really go wrong with Food Blogger Pro. I’m confident you will find it to be an excellent investment.

It probably isn’t ideal if you’re already a full-time blogger, or if you’re NOT looking to start a food blog in particular.

If you are in the latter group, but are new to blogging, there’s still a chance you’ll get something out of this course. The core training is so comprehensive that you should find lots of useful info.

Just be aware that success with such training usually requires a significant amount of time and effort. (This is true for all types of online business.)

The newsletter is called Workspaces 👩‍💻

Creator Ryan Gilbert writes

Roughly two years ago when the pandemic had people shifting to a WFH environment, I started a twice-weekly newsletter called Workspaces that gives readers a behind the scenes tour of their favorite entrepreneurs, designers, developers, etc. new desk setups.

It’s great for home office inspiration 💡

And also for inspiration on how to grow a money-making newsletter…

I published the first 117 editions of the newsletter without a sponsor… With the new year, I shifted this focus slightly and began offering one sponsor slot per newsletter edition. Since then, the newsletter has been sold out weekly and the price has risen from the initial $150 to $250, earning $2,000 per month from sponsorships.

Ryan goes on to emphasize the time and effort he put in before earning a penny from his newsletter: 117 editions = 58 weeks of publishing 💪

I reckon his success could be replicated in many different niches, but best choose something you’d be happy to work on for several months without financial reward.

Click here to read how Ryan got his first 100 subscribers.

Sold His Website for $4 Million

The website is CSS-Tricks.com, started by Chris Coyier in 2007.

Full story on the March acquisition here 👈

This one stood out to me because I remember Nathan Barry – founder of ConvertKit – writing about the site a decade ago

When Chris Coyier started CSS-Tricks.com he and I were about at the same level. I remember reading his tutorials and thinking “I already knew that”.

Nathan didn’t see CSS-Tricks as anything special, but was later wowed when he saw Chris monetizing successfully.

Nathan’s response was to start sharing and teaching everything he knew, because that’s essentially what Chris was doing.

Fast forward a year and Nathan earned $36,297 in 24 hours from an ebook about app design 🤑

What do you already know a lot about? Could you make money teaching that online?

$750,000 On Gumroad (And Counting)

Daniel Vassallo has also made quite a bit of money teaching what he knows.

He recently tweeted that he’s crossed $750,000 in sales via Gumroad, see all his products here.

Total cost of sales = $64,557.

So $685K profit 😎

His best-selling product is this Twitter video course, which is only about 1.5 hours of content.

Daniel says a video course doesn’t need much content to be valuable…

The info product can be the spillover of what doesn’t fit on YouTube. Most YouTube videos have to stay under 15mins for algorithm and human attention purposes. If you have more than 15min to share, the rest can be a paid product. Woodworking YouTube is all doing this, for ex.

€615 MRR Link Shortener

Hugo Posnic was crazy/brave enough to create a link shortener (URLR) back in 2019, going up against the likes of massive established players like bit.ly.

He’s since grown it to €615 monthly recurring revenue – not a massive success but it looks to be gaining traction 📈 and his approach is interesting.

The main thing he did was focus on regional SEO, eventually making his site the #1-ranked URL shortener on Google in his country (France) 🇫🇷

If you’re also in competition with some big players, it’s probably impossible to outrank them in the biggest markets, but with a bit of work you might be able to outrank them in a smaller country or region.

From $17/hr to 6-Figure Side Hustle

Jeff DiOrio’s story is a combination of:

Starting localTeaching what you know

Jeff’s expertise is chess, and he started off teaching the game to kids at summer camps. He also partnered with local charities to host tournaments in his area.

People started asking him to coach them, and he built an email list of potential students 📧

At first he was mainly doing in-person lessons but moved more to online lessons – via EliteChess.net – once the pandemic hit.

Now he does a mix of online and offline teaching, has hired several coaches to help with the workload, and “he’s now making more money from EliteChess.net than he is from his day job, so he may go full-time in the near future.” 🤑

Her Biz: $26.2K Profit Last Month

That’s Dashiell Bark-Huss, creator of WishTender, “a universal wishlist and gift registry platform, specially designed for influencers and public personalities.”

I wrote about Dash a few weeks back when she hit $14,000 profit in a single month 💰

Now she tweets:

My 13 month old indie business did $26.2k in profit last month

She goes on to list several myths she did NOT listen to when building WishTender, including…

When not getting traction, “You must be doing something wrong, do x instead”

Traction can be exponential. So if it’s slow in the beginning you sometimes just need to keep doing what you’re doing for longer and you didn’t do anything wrong.

$5000/Month Hosting Static Websites

Philip Baretto is the founder of Tiiny.host, marketed as “the simplest way to host & share your web project.”

You basically upload static files and it quickly turns them into a live website 🪄

Check out a bunch of examples via this Google search.

You can read more about Philip’s story here. A strategic launch on ProductHunt and focusing on SEO have been two keys to growing the business.

$80K/Month In Less Than 2 Years

That’s the story of AdamEnfroy.com, as detailed here.

Adam is somewhat famous for his concept of “blogging like a startup.”

From the start, he went hard at scaling content production and backlink acquisition. He did an especially impressive job at the latter, racking up over 3000 backlinks in only 6 months 🚀

[After six months] He was officially making more money from his website than from his day job. After just 9 months, his blog was earning $35k per month, and in February of 2020, it was making $45k. Three months later, Adam was earning $80k per month.

Adam has a course teaching his approach to blogging, which we recently reviewed.

1-Person Service Business Sold For $100K+

Mischa Sigtermans taught himself web development and started a freelance business in his early 20’s. He was apparently earning an average of $10,000 per month within a few years, but eventually grew tired of client work 😩

That’s when he decided to try and sell the business.

And he did, ultimately selling it to a web dev agency for “six figures.”

This piqued my interest because it’s not often I hear of someone successfully selling a 1-person freelance business, especially for more than $100,000 💰

I typically recommend freelancing as the easiest/fastest way to start earning a living online – either that or get a remote job – and stories like this make me even more bullish.

Matthew Morgan starts off his video by saying…

I just had a pre-tax net worth of $100,000 as a 22-year-old uni dropout… I did this by selling Word Docs.

Specifically, Matthew has mostly done it via freelance copywriting. He tried many other things over the years – eg. dropshipping, YouTube, digital products – but it sounds like client work has been his bread and butter 🍞

He lays out in the video how he found his first clients (8:18 mark) and has gone on to work with companies like Panasonic, the BBC and Warner Bros.

He’s also got a free copywriting course on YouTube 👈

Hustler’s University Review

Ever heard of Andrew Tate?

He’s a former kickboxing champion and currently one of the most Googled people in the world, mainly because he says and does lots of outrageous stuff and is currently under police investigation in Romania (see his Wikipedia page for a quick overview) 😕

Tate seems to be cashing in on his notoriety with his “make money online” training called Hustler’s University.

I bought it last week and now have a full review published here, including a few verified student reviews.

(Spoiler alert: you probably shouldn’t sign up for it.)

$20k MRR SaaS in 1 Year

That’s Spectora, a home-inspection software 🏠

The story of this company highlights the benefit of working traditionally in an industry for a while so you can build a network and spot opportunities…

Kevin Wagstaff worked as a real-estate agent in Denver for five years. During this time he saw a lot of 100+ page home inspection reports that no-one ever read. So when his friend, whose dad was a home inspector, showed him the antiquated software the industry used, Kevin saw an opportunity.

What industry do you already have lots of knowledge of and connections in? Or maybe there’s one that’s easily accessible to you? Could you find opportunities there? 🤔

Checking out Kevin on Twitter, I see he commented “this is all I know” on this tweet by Andrew Gazdecki…

Probably an unpopular opinion but pick one startup and go all in rather than juggling 5 different side hustles.

The Newsletter Marketplace

Check out Duuce.com, a marketplace for buying and selling newsletters 📧

As well as listing newsletters for sale, they show you which newsletters have already been sold and how much they were listed for.

For example…

Freelancer’s Handbook: $892/mo revenue, 3474 subs, $17k asking priceSignalSavvy: $0/mo revenue, 170 subs, $500 asking priceThe Cambridge Consultant: $0/mo revenue, 825 subs, $20k asking priceExtra Points: $4329/mo revenue, 5400 subs, $110k asking price

That last one is described as “a closer look at the off the field forces that shape college sports.”

Super niche 👌

Have a look through all the listings and it might spark some ideas for you.

No-Code Plugin Earns $33,000

Matt Wierzbicki writes: How I made over $33,000 on the Figma plugin without writing a single line of code 😎

His product is called Figmaster. There’s a 2-minute demo on the homepage but basically it teaches you how to use Figma – an interface design tool – from inside of Figma itself.

Matt explains…

I often find that when I watch a lesson I forget most of the things the author mentioned in the long video. Another problem is jumping between the video player and the software I’m learning. It distracts me a lot. That’s why in Figmaster everything happens in Figma — without jumping between 3rd party apps/websites, without pausing the video, etc.

Figmaster ended up being the #1 product of the day on ProductHunt and Matt did $33k in sales in a few weeks.

👆 That tells me he might be onto something with this embedded learning approach.

Maybe you could do something similar for popular web apps via a Chrome Extension. For example, instead of buying and watching a Twitter Power User video course, you’d buy and install a Chrome Extension that provides key prompts and insights while you’re using Twitter.

$420K/Year Repurposing Content

That’s the story of PodReacher 🎙

Jaclyn Schiff founded the company in late-2018 and explains

We’re a niche agency that repurposes webinars, virtual events, podcasts, and videos into written content like blog posts, customer stories, case studies, and lead magnets.

She goes on to say that the business currently generates $30,000 to $40,000 per month 🤑

Jaclyn was previously a freelance content strategist and digital nomad. Through her work she saw some podcasters asking to turn their episodes into articles, and decided to create a productized service around that idea.

But it was slow going in the beginning…

It took about 18 months before I was paying myself a reasonable full-time salary from PodReacher.

I reckon there’s plenty more opportunity out there for content repurposing services. For example, many newsletter creators would likely be interested in having their content nicely repurposed for Twitter 😍
