Shadow Figures, Silhouettes & Black Masses

“So I have a ghost story and a weird deja vu thing. My first ghost experience was when I was around ten. My dad and I were visiting my grandma. She lived in the old family farm house on land my family has owned since 1814. That being said, I've never heard anyone say that they've seen anything strange except me. Anyway, my grandmother had two knee replacements and couldn't make it up the steep steps to the bedroom that she used to stay in with my grandpa, so she slept in a bedroom at the back of the house and I stayed in what used to be their room. One night I had been having trouble sleeping and tossed and turned all night, counting the number of cars that I heard drive by. I was keeping my eyes closed in the hope that I would be able to fall asleep; I was half asleep when something told me to turn over and open my eyes. When I did I was the silhouette of a man leaning into the room from the hallway where I had left my door cracked. Now, I know this wasn't my dad because I could hear him snoring in the next room. There were no other men in the house, just my fourteen year old cousin who was no where near that tall. It definitely wasn't a person, either, there were no shadows or facial features, just a solid, opaque silhouette. I didn't feel threatened at all, in fact, I smiled and went right to sleep and didn't wake up until late morning. I think it was my grandpa, who died before I was born, checking on me. Weird deja vu thing: So I get really severe deja vu, and it happens pretty frequently, but with me all of a sudden something will click and I feel like I have seen that exact thing before. But the crazy shit is that I know what is going to happen for the next 30 seconds to a minute, but I don't have that knowledge until everything clicks and I see that exact image. It's always really mundane moments, never anything important which could be good or bad because I can't change anything that's going to happen, I'm just kind of frozen doing whatever I was doing before.” K
-----
“My girlfriend encountered a shadow entity. I prefer a to call it a cloaked humanoid. She was with her sister and cousin and they were by a river. They thought someone was standing in the river apparently fishing. They noticed it started moving toward them and it was pitch black and levitating over the water. They all ran and left my girlfriend, she then ran and fell. She said it looked like it was a person who was blacked out of reality.” CV
-----
“I'm in Australia, and my mate encountered the same thing (a shadow man) while hunting! He described it as a "black hovering mass" in a riverbed. He watched it move away from him and he says it was physical because he could hear it pushing through the undergrowth!” AD
-----
“I wish I could prove this, but I have been telling close friends about how I have seen a shadow person duck behind a tree as if to hide from me when I was walking on the trail of a local park. I was so convinced I saw something duck that I walked really fast to the tree and looked behind it, and there was nothing there. Even though I thought I would be a scaredy cat if I have ever seen anything mysterious, I wasn't fearful at all. I felt exhilarated. I have seen shadow things four times on these trails in the fall or winter only. Once I saw about four or five shadow "dogs" running ahead of me, only they looked more like hyenas running with their heads low and their necks seemingly longer than a dog or wolf.” CC

'Mothman' Still Watches The Ohio River Valley

"Hi Lon - I'll start out by saying that the small town where I grew up, and where all of my family still resides, is in Monroe County, Ohio maybe twenty minutes or so outside of Wheeling, West Virginia. I was talking to my dad on the phone the other night. He told me that last week while driving home from work, he came across something he can't explain. He voice was shaky, unlike I have ever heard him.
He works the night shift at a local coal mine and while driving home from work early one morning around 5:30 am he noticed a large creature crouched down in the road. It had bright red glowing eyes that looked directly at him. He said this creature also had very large wings which were wrapped around it as it crouched. He said he had never in his life seen anything like this. It had really upset him. He proceeded to drive by it, but when he looked behind him, it was gone! He said that he was actually scared to get out of his car when he got home in fear that perhaps it had followed him or was even on his car. After a few very tense minutes, he slowly got out of the car. There was nothing there.
I asked him if he had ever heard of the "Mothman?" He kind of paused, then said that he had never heard of it until he started talking to people about what he had seen. He said that they would say right away "It sounds like you saw the Mothman!" You hear weird stories all the time, and because you don't really know the person who witnessed it, you just shrug it off. Knowing my dad and what a logical thinker he is, I believe he encountered something supernatural. He is usually the one who tries to come up with logical answers for things that are otherwise unexplained. He's very skeptical when it comes to aliens, UFO's, ghosts, etc. For me to talk to him and hear him tell me about this Mothman-like creature was shocking. For this is not like my father.
I will say that I am concerned, for what I understand is that when a person actually witnesses a Mothman, often times bad things happen afterwards. There isn't a doubt in my mind that what he saw was 100% true. It has completely made a believer out of me when it comes to the Mothman. I hope for the sake of my father and my family that that isn't true and that he made an mistake of identity." CO
-----
“I saw the Mothman as it flew over my school bus, and I think it was winter of 1966. The school bus driver, Odel Wallace and I were the last ones on the bus, as we had already dropped off all the other kids and were headed toward the end of the school bus route on Big Sixteen Mile Creek in Mason County. I lived another mile past that, I would walk in the morning to the bus, and home from it in the evening. And it flew over the bus and was no more than 100 feet above us, and we could see that the wing span of this thing was about the length of the bus. After it flew over, I looked up into the mirror that the driver used to watch the kids as he drove, he was looking back at me and I said did you see that, he just looked at me and nodded and nothing else was said. I haven't told too many people about this for fear of ridicule and joking bull, but now I'm 65 years old and I don't care what anybody says, I know what I saw was not anything normal. I'm a hunter also, deer hunter/rabbit/squirrel/groundhog/or anything else I can eat that doesn't have antibiotics and human footprints in it, and I've never before seen anything like it, and not since, even though I'm always in the woods. So I know that the dang thing existed, or still exists.” MK
-----
“My family is from Gallipolis, Ohio, the town right across the river from Point Pleasant. About half of my life was spent there, and honestly, I think he's real. I have some family, who live out in the country, and a good number of them have seen Mothman, or encountered him. I might have had an encounter, but I'm not 100% sure, only because it was late at night, and it was hard to see. I'd been at the movies, and something swooped in front of my windshield, something big. I heard a scraping sound on the roof of my car, in the AM, 5 scratch marks down to the primer, were in the paint, spaced like human fingernails. One of the creepiest moments of my life, I hadn't believed before, but I did after that. There aren't any owls in Southeastern Ohio that big, it was bigger than my windshield, about 5' wide by 3.5'. Owls also don't have 5 toes that spread like fingers.” OB

The 2020 Forecast

Many readers have ask me to post my forecast for 2020. Possibly against my better judgement, I have decided to offer a few of my 'predictions' for the upcoming year. No domestic politics. Anyway, here we go:
- Last year, I thought that 2019 would signal the beginning of an unique open-mindedness to the future of our planet. In particular, how we view our relationship with EBEs and how environmental / climate changes directly affect that liaison. I believe that will continue, for the most part.
- Seismic & volcanic activity concerns me in the following areas: Eastern Caribbean, in particular the areas around the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. The Gulf of Alaska also seems ripe for activity as well.
- An explosion of problems with deepfake technology is anticipated, especially in enterprise fraud. The increasing use of the cloud technology continues to change security. I believe that more simplified solutions are on the horizon. Let's hope that is the case.
- I do sense that several world leaders are in for a challenging 2020. This includes Vladimir Putin's hold on power. In fact, Russia may face major financial upheaval in the next 12 months. I also feel that there will be an increase of domestic unrest in China and Iran.
Several years ago, I sensed that there would be a continued increase of bizarre cryptid sightings and encounters. For the most part, that has panned out. Overall, things have gotten stranger! The world has experienced a vast array of unexplained anomalies during that period and I feel that this trend will continue. Let's hope more eyewitnesses come forward seeking answers. Lon

Deceased Uncle's Silhouette: Strange Early Incident at 2011 Chicago Winged Humanoid Location

Saturday, 22-Jul-95 07:25 AM GMT - This happened on April of 1990 just after my Uncle Lou died. We were coming home after a sad and pretty low time in my life; we were driving east bound down 63rd Street around Pulaski Road on Chicago's Southwest side. You see my Uncle and my mom grew up around the Saint Brennans parish in the community of Englewood when they were kids in and around the late twentys and the early thirtys. It was one of the things that told me deep down inside that my Uncle was in good hand with the Angels. You see also all his life he liked to fly airplanes and was a distinguished and honored pilot during WWII flying with the 95th Bomber squad. So that's how I knew everything was alright when I looked in the sky in which deep down someone really spiritual told me to look up I did in the Eastern sky around the area where both Mom and Uncle as we use to call him amongst our brothers. There it was. My Uncle Lou's silhoulette when I last seen him. I told my Mom and she looked up along with my brother and I pointed to the cloud formation that looked just like his silhoulette and then we all knew everything was OK but that still isn't the same as having my Uncle with us. Strange Woman
“When I was living in Vancouver a couple of years ago (2017), I was walking to a friend's place downtown one night. It was about 8pm so it was darker outside, the streetlights were on. I turned down their street, it was in the quieter end of downtown, all housing down that street. In the distance I could see a woman walking toward me on the sidewalk very slowly. As I got closer, I noticed that after each step - she stopped. By the time I approached her I saw her pattern. One step - stop for 2 seconds. Step again - stop for 2 seconds. As I passed her on the sidewalk, she did not seem to notice me. I continued on, stopping back to look and she continued on in this fashion. It's important to note she did not look high or drunk, she was wearing nicer clothes and seemed to be dressed for the cooler evening.
I arrived at my friend's house who was outside having a smoke and I explained to them what I saw. She wanted to see for herself, and make sure the woman was okay so we walked back up and the woman was traipsing along in her slow, meditative pattern. My friend approached her and asked her if she was alright. No response, she did not acknowledge my friend in any way. Again she asked if we can help her at all, still nothing, as she continued her steps and stared straight ahead. My friend thought this woman was having some sort of episode and decided we should call the police. I was hesitant - this woman to me was just doing a sort of meditation perhaps? - but we called anyway. We were a bit concerned for her safety as she was even crossing streets without looking or stopping.
A policeman showed up and also tried to speak to the woman - she continued staring forward as if we were not there. The policeman even stepped in front of her, she simply turned slightly to go around. The officer said because she is not harming herself or others, there was not much he could do. My friend and I decided to just go home. I still wonder about her. Was this a form of meditation? performance art? did she receive devastating news and this was her way to cope? How far did she go...is she still going...is she okay? If anyone has any theories, or has ever heard of a process like this please let me know!” BC

Strange Intuition
“I have had a lot of weird instances where I have seen "visions" or like I'm daydreaming about something before it happens. the most notable one that sticks out was when I was about 15, we were leaving Thunder over Louisville and had to walk about a block back to our car. There were people walking all over the streets and cars trying to pull out. We were all in a single line walking along the side of this road and I was walking up to a car parked with the engine running, horizontally in the grass facing the road with the lights on. All I could think of was this car pulling out and hitting us. THE feeling was so strong that I remember staring down the headlights like "stay" so when I got about halfway past the front of the car I kind of pushed my mom to make her move faster so that I could get out of the front of this car. No sooner did I get out of the way. the freaking car jerks forward and stops on top of this poor kid's foot that was behind me! The lady apparently meant to put her car in gear and was stepping on the gas instead of the break. The boy was luckily not badly hurt but the lady was so shocked at what had happened that some guy had to pull her out of the car so he could reverse of this kid's foot!” MA

Black-Eyed Kids Confrontation Walking Home

I recently came across the following account:
This is an encounter I experienced in the summer of 2009.
I was born and raised in the plains of Texas, specifically in an area where black-eyed kids sightings are prevalent. I had heard the stories, tales, legends, whatever you want to call them since I was a young man but never truly believed them. The black-eyed kids was mainly something I entertained as a joke or something to get a rise out of people. This changed in the summer of 2009.
It was a warm night in June. I was up late, around 2 am, as I typically liked to stay up late, especially in the summer since it would stay fairly warm even after the sun went down. I had just run up to the store to grab a big fountain drink and was returning into my house through the backdoor when I was approached by two children, a boy and a girl. I was very startled once I realized they were there since I wasn't expecting to encounter anyone in my backyard so late at night. The little boy asked "Could we come in? We need to use the phone, we are lost." This is when I noticed the blackness of their eyes. Both of them had eyes so black they were like pits. This is also when my heart sank, I couldn't believe I was actually seeing them. That they were there right in front of me. As I mentioned before I had heard the legends of the black-eyed children most of my life, so there was no way I was going to let them in my house. I darted in the backdoor and locked it as quickly as I could. Once I was inside I ran upstairs and flipped on the lights to try and see if they were still outside. Thankfully by then, they were gone. I had so much adrenaline pumping by that point though that I grabbed a weapon and began searching the house and making sure all doors and windows were locked.
It took me hours to get to sleep that night and it's an encounter that will stay with me for the rest of my life. These entities took the form of something most people view as innocent, weak, mild and try to trick unsuspecting people to do God knows what with or to them. I am just glad my reflexes kicked in and I was able to live to tell the tale. PM
The witness later followed up:
The boy was wearing a black jacket and shorts with a white shirt and a rope tie. The little girl was wearing a black dress and high white socks. I don't remember any hairstyle specifically, but their overall appearance was dark (it was dark outside as well) so I think both of their hair colors were black.

The 'Evert Ghost Photo'

In Ohio, on February 2001, young Zach Evert got his driver's license. Diane Evert, his mother, was eager to document his first day of being a licensed driver and she had him pull their truck out of the back of the garage so she could get some pictures and share them with family members. Zach got in and backed up his pick-up truck as Diane snapped images with her 35 millimetre camera. She waved to him as he drove off to the gas station to get his first oil change. She never though anything of it. About a week later, she had the roll of film developed and was putting them in order for placement in the family photo album. Zach was interested in seeing how he looked in the truck and so he grabbed the pictures and immediately noticed something strange in one of them.
“He asked me, who was in the truck?” Diane recalled. “I said, What? What are you talking about? What truck? He said, 'Well, the day I got my driver's license and got the oiled changed on my truck.' I said, 'Well, there wasn't anybody in there.' And he, said, 'Well, look at the picture, there's somebody sitting next to me.' I said, 'That's impossible, I took the pictures. I saw you back out of the garage and go down the street to the gas station by yourself, there wasn't anybody in it.' So I looked at the picture and, sure enough, there's somebody sittin next to Zach in the front seat but not the day he went to get the oil changed, in the picture.”
Upon inspection, there does appear to be what looks like a person sitting next to Zach in the truck. Eric Haney and Scott Wells of the Ohio based Munroe Falls Paranormal Society investigated the image. They went to the location and took measurements, spoke to all the witnesses and even examined the truck. They also had the picture checked over by an image specialist. Ultimately they ruled out reflection from a nearby tree, double exposure and photoshop shenanigans. Haney, who was skeptical at first, became convinced that the photograph was genuine.
Assuming that it was a spirit, Haney and Wells decided to find out about any car accidents that may have happened in that area of Ohio though but they found nothing. “The area had a couple of car accidents but nothing that seemed to be related or relevant to the picture,” Wells noted. Diane may have offered a clue as to the identity of the passenger: “When my husband got this truck, it was used... four wheel drive. It was perfect... extra vehicle. The front left end of the truck was damaged. It wasn't severely, but it was damaged so that you know it hit SOMETHING.”
Curiously, everybody seems to have their own interpretations of the figure sitting beside Zach in the truck. Some of Zach's friends believed that it looked like a Confederate Colonel from the Civil War, while others believed that it looked like Zach's little sister, Kara, or even Zach himself wearing a fur coat. Diane has ruled this out. Eric Haney and Scott Wells believed that the figure is a small child of about 11 or 12 years of age.
One strange thing that happened on the night the image was taken, Zach had agreed to help his friend move. On the way home, he narrowly missed getting into an accident. Diane is convinced that the figure sitting beside Zach was a guardian angel.
The Evert photo was featured in the Pilot Episode of 'Mysterious Midwest' which aired in 2009 titled 'Ghost Rider'.

Weird Highways: Dad Ran Over a Ghost / Strange WV Incident

1975 – London, UK “Not sure if I've told this before on here or not? But this is my Dad's story. Just to explain, he's ex British Army, not scared of anything and super practical. He became a lorry driver about 1975 I think this was not long after he started. So this happened about 5:00 AM on a summer's day. It was a bit misty like you get some mornings early but bright, and he was heading out of London on the A3. He's driving his lorry, and up ahead was a young woman, early 20s in a long blue dress standing by the side of the road. It must have been before the A3 was duelled, and all the barriers were put up. So Dad sees her, thinks she's waiting for a ride to work. Just as he's about to go past her, she jumps in front of his lorry. He immediately slams on the breaks, as he's sure he's hit her, but he didn't feel a bang but where else could she be? Couple of cars stop to see what's going on, Dad shakily explains and the drivers kindly offer to stay while he looks for her under the lorry. Dad looks, and she's not there. Other drivers look and there's nothing. No body, no blood, no sign of anyone. They all freak out a bit and then decide leaving asap is a great idea! He can't explain it, he knows she was there and he hit her. He spent the rest of his driving career avoiding that route.” MC

May 2018 - Nevada, USA “I have a weird Nevada story. Last May, I went for the first time to Las Vegas, and rented a car to go see the desert (also my first time in a real desert), with the intention of taking photos of the starry night sky as far away as possible from light pollution. I drove all the way to Rachel, then after the sunset, I started driving back toward LV. I stopped here due to the wide shoulder. I set up my tripod and camera, and started taking long exposures. While I was doing that, I heard footsteps. I had a good bright LED flashlight so I turned it on and as I started to go all around the car, the footsteps stopped. I scanned in all directions, saw nothing. Maybe it was my imagination, so I continued taking more photos. The footsteps start again, and again I scanned all around with the flashlight. The footsteps stop and I see nothing. I walk back to my tripod and camera, wondering if I should take more photos and I hear more footsteps! So I grabbed my gear, threw it in the car and got the F out of there.” WB

"I have two freaky things that have happened. First, middle of the night with a buddy and we pulled off to the side of the highway to relieve ourselves and switch drivers. Nobody else around on the road. I walk to the side, pitch black. My buddy is just stretching his back or whatever. I heard something in the woods shake a tree. No other way to describe it, a tree about 30 feet away shook. Then I hear something BIG crashing through the woods coming straight for us and the car. My buddy and I don't even say anything, he dives in the driver side and I jump through the passenger window, pants still down. He floors it out of there, legs and pants dangling outside. Never did see anything in the rear view mirror but there was something out there coming at us. My buddy likes to say he heard me stop peeing when that tree shook.
Second, I was solo somewhere in West Virginia, again middle of the night. I got off an exit, one of those long curvy ones. I saw lights before I got off and assumed it was exit stuff, or maybe even construction. Get to the exit and it's not construction, it's a ton of Army or National Guard guys. The exit was lit up brighter than day time, so many lights set up pointing everywhere. The Army guys were completely decked out, gas masks on and assault rifles. They were sprinting around. One guy at the corner was frantically waving me through to get back on the highway. I gunned it out of there. Looked in the news later and didn't see anything, no idea what was going on that night. I was at work. Yes, it was a dirt road. I was trying to get into Kanawa State Forest, but I had no cell signal and no map, so I was kinda winging it. I went back a road that was really scenic, rhododendrons, rock faces, steep mountains, etc. I thought I had to be near the forest. And really everybody I encountered up to that point by had been very nice, they all just wanted know where I was from because I didn't have a heavy accent. But then there was the MPs, they didn't know the meaning of nice, and I was too damn scared to argue. I had to back up for a good 1/8 mile or so because I couldn't even turn around, they escorted me to the main road, gave me directions to Kanawa and to the interstate and I was happy to be rid of them. So any clue what was so secret back that road or what happened? If it was a mine access road, could there have been a mine gas explosion or were they mining specifically for the military? I can't remember exactly, but it was either a Tuesday or a Wednesday. I had been staying in hotels on the weekends and camping and hiking during the week. I was really trying to avoid the weekend crowds of campers and families. It was two weeks before memorial day weekend. Like I said I didn't want to run into all the families doing their start of summer camping trips and parties on Memorial Day weekend. It is probably possible they were doing a training exercise during the week also, but I just found it odd the way they acted about it. I've seen the National Guard do some training and preparedness stuff and they usually tell you straight up that it's a training exercise. These guys didn't say anything to that effect and they were adamant that I was trespassing and had to leave Now! It just felt much more "real" than a training exercise. I don't know though, it's possible they were just taking their practice very seriously.” TX

Cryptid White Wolf / Unexplained Activity in North Alabama

“It took moving 1000 miles away to finally feel comfortable enough to tell you this story. This happened just before my senior year of high school over a period of 3 weeks in the summer. I was 17 years old, drug free and sober, at the most I took Advil for headaches every now and again. I just want to assure you I was not on any mind-altering substances or long term medication that could effect my cognitive ability.
During the summer my curfew was 11 PM, and this occurred while driving home from my (at that time) boyfriend's house which took roughly 15 minutes so lets say about 10:45 at night. I was full of energy at this age and a night owl so I was not even remotely tired. In fact, I was hyped up with the warm summer nighttime breeze, car windows down, singing along to the radio. I took a short cut through back roads to avoid going into the tiny city with its jerk cops. Also one of the roads I took was super straight and flat so I could really speed and that feels great when you're a teenager. But right before that road I had to take two very close turns to get onto it. First I'd take a right turn that was more than 90 degrees almost back the way I had came, then in exactly half a mile I would turn left onto the long straight road where I could really put the gas pedal down. Since it was only half a mile I normally didn't speed up that much because the small stretch of road was more like packed gravel and it would be a waste as I would have to slow down again to turn left onto the much better road were I could let loose. The tiny property on the inside corner of the left turn is where all this went down.
A house had recently been built there, 2 stories with a detached garage, and it seemed odd how quickly it had been erected as we built our family house and it took us a year to finish it. I will start at the beginning because I believe this is all related. Week 1, I am positively jamming to my music, the wind whipping through my car feels great and I'm relaxed in my very familiar drive home. I slow down to make my right turn onto the rough rural road just be-bopping along when my lights illuminate something stunning sitting on the corner of the road. It's a wolf, a real wolf, a solid white real wolf. I know the difference in my dog breeds and a wolf, I love watching dog competitions, wildlife documentaries and have even met a 1/4th wolf in person, they look different from domestic dogs. This was a wolf and it was amazing and blowing my mind. I slow down even more while I turn down my music, I'm getting close to it, and I notice that it's not minding me at all. It is sitting perfectly still on the corner of the road staring at the house. Almost unblinking, it's ears didn't even flick towards me, all it's attention was focused on this house. I was so close I could have reached out my window and brushed the fur on the back of it's head. I was smiling and amazed, but my mind was already churning. It made no sense for a wolf to be behaving like that, even less for there to be a white wolf in rural north Alabama in the summer. I came to a complete stop behind it marveling at it's fur and presence. I felt euphoric, like I had seen something rare and blessed. My mind made a jump to the local Indian stories of animal spirit guardians and I started to wonder. I couldn't stay though, mom would never believe me if I told her I was late because of a spirit wolf.
With a sigh I said goodbye to the wolf and drove home in a better mood than ever. I got to see something special and it filled me with emotions of joy and peace. Week 2, I was driving home again and I had been taking extra care to keep an eye out for my wolfy buddy, hoping to see him again around that area so I drove extra slow with my window down and radio off. That was a horrible mistake, I should have realized what the presence of a guardian meant, it meant danger. Alas, I was on the short road approaching the new little house. Then I saw the thing that to this very day makes me question my sanity, my reality and possibility of eldritch terrors as Lovecraft described. It was crouched right before their mail box, its limbs folded and pulled in tight with its hunched posture yet it's head was still taller than the box. It was mottled green and black with under tones of blue and it looked wet and slimy all over. Its head was elongated allowing for an extended maw full of razor sharp teeth. The upper half of its body looked emaciated, with barely more than frog like thin skin pulled over angular long bones, ropy muscles to hold it up right and at the end of its grossly stretched arms where equally terrible long fingers. While its legs had bulk to them and looked equipped for running, with back-facing knees for sprinting, and tipped in raptor like curved claws. It looked tall maybe 7 foot maybe more, just folded up into this predator's posture, waiting for prey. Then there were its eyes, solid black and sunken, I still want to vomit thinking about its eyes looking at me. Then I realized... it's going to look at me, it's going to see me and there is no avoiding it.
Panic, terror unique to this alien thing swallowed me instantly, feeling like I was tilting off the world I had always known and into an abyss where monsters like this exist. I couldn't breath but I had to get my window up. I had to get my window up or I be ripped by those teeth and torn with those claws, blood would adorn the cabin of my car and I would become an unsolved mystery. I had a manual crank window, f*ck me, I had a crank window because I was scared of crashing into water and not being able to get out of my car but now I realized that there were far worse things in the world than crashing into water. Its head was turning towards me and I had let off the gas but I was still getting closer to it, it made me want to scream but I had to get my window up first and I was cranking it as hard as I could. I was starting to cry as I finally got the window closed and then I put my gas pedal to the floor, gravel road be damned. I thought I must not look at it as I pass, I must not look at it or make direct eye contact, I just shouldn't, it's not good to connect with these things, I've already seen too much. My tires had found grip and I started to launch forward, passing it. In my peripheral vision I could see it starting to unfold it's limbs and it sent a terrible chill down my spine. “I'm screwed, I'm really screwed, fck, fck, f*ck ...” I was mumbling through my tears as I slid around the turn, fishtailing for a moment before I rocketed down the road. I felt sick, my heart was hammering, I had snot and tears rolling down my face and my hands where shaking. I glanced in my rear view mirror and could only see darkness as there were no street lamps out there. I used a trick, to tap my brake soft enough the light comes on but I don't actually slow down. Red lit up the dust that was billowing up in my wake, but amidst the swirling chaos I thought I saw a darker shadow than the rest, a tall thin shadow. I had enough and decided I was going to drive straight to the lighted roads and not let off the gas again the rest of the way, no more looking back, I was going to drive 109mph which is as fast as I can go before my governor kicks in. I even ran a stop sign at the end of the road, because I was NOT going to get caught by this thing if I could help it. I took a right onto the highway and flew home, I might have even been relieved to get pulled over but I did not.
When I got home no one was awake, I was pretty trusted to come home on time, so I called my boyfriend and cried to him for a long time before I was able to explain. He was dismissive and thought I was pulling a joke on him, then he thought I was just being crazy and seeing things. There's many reasons we didn't stay together but his insensitivity contributed.
Week 3, I refused to take my shortcut anymore, for that reason I would have to leave my boyfriend's house a bit early, and he'd been making fun of me about it all week. One of the days we went to a park to walk around and on the way back he decided he wanted to drive by the house where I saw that thing. I was hysterical begging him not to drive there, but he would not be dissuaded so as we got closer and I could not stop him I leaned my passenger side seat all the way back and pulled myself down, cowering in panic of getting near the place. I hid below the window and covered my eyes while panting heavily, reliving the traumatic night in my mind again. At one point he stopped the car. “Spooky, you have to see this,” he said. “Noooo” I whined, resisting him pulling at my arm. “No you really have to see this, look.” He said in a changed tone of astonishment. Tears in my eyes I uncurled and slowly peeked over the rim of the window. The house was gone, burnt clear down to the foundation with only a handful of framing beams still standing. The ground around the house was blackened in a perfect large circle.
My boyfriend started to get out of the car, I shouted “NO Let's get out of here!” while I grabbed for his arm but he easily avoided me and got out. He walked around the ashy piles of the ruins for a bit, using a stick to poke at this and that. When he finally came back he had an intense look of thinking on his face. “There was no evidence of any personal belongings, furniture, power wiring, or even interior walls. It doesn't seem like other burnt out houses, something's weird.” When we got to his house he searched for news articles about any house fires in the area; there weren't any. He called the closest fire station and was quickly brushed off by the person that answered as they didn't know about a fire there and didn't have time to find out before quickly hanging up on him.
I never wanted to see that place again. I went out of my way to avoid the roads in that area. Talking about it still makes my chest tighten, my skin crawl and my eyes water. My brain still has trouble because I know I saw it, a thing that is nothing like any creature known to humans, yet still I saw it. This is near Moulton, Alabama. This happened to me summer 2002.” SW

Truly Bizarre Humanoid Reports!

This goes back to 2007, I was roughly 20 years old. The drive was through a semi-rural area; a single lane, smooth road called 52, which connects Pennsylvania to Delaware. 52 also connects to "Devil's Road", where M. Night filmed, "The Village". It was typically an eerie commute, but due to me using it often, it never truly scared me. Girlfriend at the time was riding with me in the passenger seat and we were travelling back to Delaware after dropping off my best pal in Pennsylvania, who'd joined us to see a movie. It was 2:00 AM at the time, we had recently crossed the state line. Despite being young and stupid, I reduced my speed slightly due to the dense fog which we had quickly entered. Before I knew it, my heart was racing. I found myself swerving as to not hit a person in the middle of the road. It was an apparition-like woman with long hair, covered in worn, white robes with a dim glow to her entire appearance. She was kneeling down and slowly rising. I didn't quite get a good look at her face, but perhaps that's what makes the fear linger on. I recall saying, "Holy sh-t! Did you see that?!" To which my girlfriend agreed, nodding with an open mouth and wide eyes. Additionally, this girl I was dating at the time claimed to have a ghost living in a room of her family's home, a room which they would seldom enter. From what I remember, it was right around Winterthur and the Delaware Museum of Natural History.” WT

Late 1990s – central Texas, USA “I've seen some weird stuff with him while driving in south Texas along the border. He never batted an eye, but while telling me this story he had goose bumps and a concerned expression. Which from this guy is about the equivalent of a trembling lip and crap stained pants. I'll tell this story in the first person as he told it to me. Years ago in the late 90's I was on my way from the house (central Texas) heading to Laredo to pick up a load. It was early morning, around 4:00 or 5:00 AM. I had just come off a string of days at home, so I know I wasn't tired. I am on one of those two lane winding roads in the absolute middle of nowhere, when I see something on the side of the road at the edge of my high beams. At first I just thought it was roadkill, as is usually the case. As I get closer, I see that it is roadkill and there's someone crouching over the deer carcass. I remember thinking either this guys taking the antlers as a trophy, or he's f'ing sick. As I got closer still I can now see that's this guy's eating the deer. He's pulling chunks of meat from the stomach and bringing them up to his face. At this point he stops mid motion and looks up at me. Not at my truck, but at me. He/it stands up and that's when I see that its huge, brown, and covered in hair. I remember thinking at this point, Oh f-ck. This thing is standing on the tiny shoulder looking at me. By this point, maybe 3 seconds have passed and I'm about to the point in the road he's standing at. I didn't even think of stopping, in fact I'm starting to lay on it and get the hell out of there. As I'm passing it, its looking at me, again not at the truck, its looking through the driver's side windshield at me. He obviously has the intelligence to know that there's a driver in here and knows where I'm sitting. As I start to pass him I can still see its head above the hood of an old needle nose Pete. (Old truck design where the hood goes straight out from the windshield, known for being tall and difficult to see around.) This thing is giant. I remember seeing what looked like human intelligence in its eyes. It scares the crap out of me. Sorry for the wall of text. It's a story worth sharing though.” JBP

“I was driving through the back roads of Arkansas around 3:00 AM. Suddenly I hit a dense fog bank. It was so thick that I knew I should have pulled off the road because I could barely see in front of me, but sometimes pulling over can be just as dangerous. So I slow to about 20mph and put my hazards on. I see no other cars coming from the other way or behind me. After about 15 minutes I start seeing humanoid shadows illuminated by my headlights darting around the sides of the road and across it. It made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I saw maybe 5 or six of them. Never got a good look, all I saw was shadows darting back and forth but they we definitely human shaped. Needless to say I was freaked out and wanted to get away. I speed up a bit and after about 5 minutes I came out of the fog bank. It ended just as suddenly as it came. I speed away at my allotted 65mph and didn't stop till the sun came up.” RA

1980s - Utah to California “My old Bishop use to be a trucker when he was younger. He told us one day while driving to Utah from California he saw a man in a very bright yellow rain jacket, he said the look on his face looked like he was about to die, but he got a very eerie feeling to not pull over, this was around 2:00 PM he tells us btw. Around 9pm he gets to a place to eat some dinner, as he sits down he notices two tables from his left the very same man. There's no possible way that man could have gotten him. He strictly remembers no car passing him at all, not one, and when he saw the man it was in the middle of no where, so not like he was in a town with his car. This was before the internet so he never put it out there, like back in the 80's I want to say.” MP

Large Bat-Winged Cryptid Encountered After UFO Crashed Into Lake Michigan

"I didn't see the creature. My mother did around 1960 in the Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn, IL. My aunt was present, but said she didn't see it. My dad and uncle were in the house with us kids, and also saw nothing. She described it as having leathery wings like a bat, but also had arms and a human face. She had watched it from a distance as it approached. She originally thought it was a HUGE bird. Standing on the railings of our porch to get a better look, and said it was almost close enough to touch. She said it flapped its wings slowly, gliding as much as flying.
Within a few moments, there was a radio report about a UFO crashing into Lake Michigan, and both families jumped into our cars and went to the lake to see. It took a half-hour or so to get to the lake, and police were on the scene by then shooing people away. I was in the first grade at the time. My parents were both practical people not given to jumping at shadows or imagining things." LU

Weird Weather Changes
"I was driving though Kansas on I-70 at night once when I hit one of the craziest thunderstorms I’ve ever seen. It was so bad the road started flooding a bit and I had to pull into a service plaza and wait it out, when the creepy part happened. As I was sitting in the truck watching the storm, there is a series of lightning strikes followed by a blackout. Suddenly a massively bright light starts moving behind the clouds, too slowly to be an aircraft but too fast to be part of the storm system. It moves up over the hills/trees before crossing directly overhead then disappears a bit behind the service plaza. The transit from tree line to plaza took maybe 5-10 minutes tops, and while it was overhead it cast everything in an eerie blue glow and lit up the parking lot. I seriously thought aliens were invading or something. Anyway, I kid you not within 10 minutes of the creepy light disappearing the rain completely stopped and the parking lot lights came back on, like someone flipped a switch. I got outta there while looking in my mirrors for spaceships or those alien walkers from war of the worlds. If anyone has any thoughts on WTF that might have been I’m all ears. The memory still bugs me as I’m not prone to conspiracy theories or crazy outlandish beliefs or anything. I’ve considered stuff like ball lightning, refracted sunlight (it wasn’t long after sunset), or even military aircraft (it was somewhat near an airbase), but none of those seem quite right for how massive the light behind the clouds was, how localized to a specific part of the sky it was, and the speed at which it moved.” FB
