Winged 'Gargoyle' Observed in Racine, Wisconsin

I recently received a telephone call from the witness 'CM' who recently had an encounter with, what he described as, a 'gargoyle.'

CM was driving home from work at 1:20 am during the last week of September 2019. He left Kenosha, WI and drove north on Rt 31 (S. Green Bay Rd) towards his home in Racine, WI. He got off at N. Green Bay Rd (Highway MM) and drove towards Rt 38 (Northwestern Ave). He soon notice a tall dark winged entity, which he referred to as a 'gargoyle', near the Root River overpass.

He described the being as a 6 ft humanoid with bat-like wings extending from its back. It was very dark in color and when his headlights hit the being the wings unfurled and it quickly ascended into the air. The body was thin and the head somewhat small in comparison. There was distinct eye shine with a reddish tint. CM believes that this being was eating roadkill.

CM was very insistent that a vehicle far ahead of him hit the brakes about the same time he observed the creature. CM believes that there is a possibility that another similar winged entity may have been present further down the road.

Scary Upright Canine Encounter in Delta County, Colorado

I recently received a telephone call from 'Joe' who had a harrowing encounter with an upright canine when he was 15 years old, while growing up in Delta County in west central Colorado. He had resisted talking about this incident until he heard of recent upright canine encounters told to him by friends and associates in his current residence of Fayetteville, Arkansas. I have been keenly aware of the upright canine activity throughout the Ozarks during recent years. Upright canine sightings and encounters have become more common throughout Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi according to witnesses who have contacted me.

Joe states that when he was a teen, he and his friends would hang out on the Gunnison River, not far from its confluence with the Uncompahgre River near his hometown of Delta, Colorado.

One late night in the mid-1990s, at approximately 12:30 am, Joe had arranged to meet a friend at their preferred spot along the Gunnison River. They had a routine of exploring an old abandoned factory that still had lights working around it. These lights would illuminated the river and shoreline. The river at this location was fairly shallow during the summer and could easily be crossed.

While waiting for his friend, Joe decided to kill some time. There was a auto parts lot / junkyard (still there) near the location that interested Joe. He has always be fascinated with automobiles and is currently an auto mechanic. He knew the man who owned the lot, which was guarded by a German Shepard that was very friendly with Joe. Many times the dog would wander down to the river in order to greet and play with Joe.

As Joe began to make his way towards the lot, he had to pass a huge downed tree that laid along the river shore. The end of the downed tree had a large bundle of exposed roots and debris from the river. As he walked by the tree he noticed a pair of long ears visible from the other side on top of the downed tree. Thinking that was the German Shepard coming to greet him, he starting calling out to it. In fact, he tossed a few pebbles at it in order to get its attention.

Then suddenly, an unimaginable creature stood up. The light from the abandoned factory gave Joe an uncompressed view of this beast. He was witnessing a 7-8 ft tall humanoid with the head of a large wolf. The canine teeth were clearly visible and its orange-yellow eyes looked directly at him. Joe said the eyes looked like distant lights coming from a tunnel. He was truly shocked at this sight.

Joe let out a scream. The beast reacted by grabbing the exposed roots and leaping on top of the downed tree. Joe's description was that of a sparsely haired bi-pedal canine with a wide muscular chest and human-like arms ending in human-like hands and long fingers with talons. The waist and hips were narrow, with muscular hocked legs extending down to long human-like feet. The beast was standing on the balls of its feet.

Joe instinctively ran towards the river and quickly waded across it to a chain linked fence. As Joe looked back, the creature was on all fours watching him from the far shore of the river. The beast was watching Joe, but then directed its attention upriver. It suddenly took off running on all fours upriver at what Joe described as 'an incredible speed.'

Later, he was told by the man who owned the auto parts lot that he should never walk near the river at night. His comments were 'there are many things out there that we can't comprehend.' He was also told by a shaman and elder of his family's tribe that Joe encountered 'a spirit of the forest, since it did not attack him.'

When I talked to Joe, his voice was noticeably shaky as he recounted his experience. It's obvious that his encounter has affected him throughout his life. Lon

Witnesses Describe 'Mothman' Abilities and 'Bat-Like' Appearance

“I live in West Virginia, and have seen this (Mothman) creature myself, didn't glimpse it, we clearly saw it. Whatever it is, it does exist. And I'm not sure how anyone can get a picture of it. I could have had a camera in my hand and still would not have. When it looks at you, somehow it paralyzes you. Was me and a friend, and for the first hour or so after, couldn’t move or even talk. Then for about the next hour, all we could say was, 'what the f.... was that?' and still couldn't move. And yes, as it said here, it looks nothing like a moth, and nothing like the stature in Point Pleasant. Looks more like a bat than a moth. I can only hope to never see it again.” RM

“I saw this when I was a kid in Seguin, Texas. No, not Mantis Man but a big dark figure with red eyes, big wings, big body. I remember seeing it in a tree in my back yard I was probably around 6 or 7 (around 2002). I'm 23 now but I remember everything like it was yesterday everyday since then I walked out side stood right under it. It looked down on me and leaned out of the tree. I told it I wasn’t afraid then it stood up in the tree jumped out of the branches and with huge wings. It flew over my house. I remember running around the side of my house and seeing it fly away in the distance. The whole situation made feel like I couldn't believe in what I just saw. I told my parents in the morning but they thought it was just a dream but I never fell back to sleep that night. I stayed up just thinking what it could have been but since then looking at every mysterious recorded thing I've found on the Internet. I've come to a conclusion that I still don't know what it could of been. Something makes me feel like I should look in to the Mothman stories and everything that is a dark figure with a large wingspan with glowing red eyes.” CA

'Man-Bat' Encounter in Kenosha, Wisconsin

I recently received the following account:

Hello, thank you for putting this on the internet...for the article of the Man-Bat. A couple of years (late Summer 2017) ago a friend and I where in Kenosha, Wisconsin on our way to northern Illinois (where we lived at the time) after getting tattoos. It was somewhere between 2 and 3 am. I remember before approaching the train tracks on a road I cannot remember the name of me and my friend in the car noticed a man-like creature with wings cross the street slow enough for us to be able to see the shape and figure of what it was. But in an instant it was gone as if it was never there to begin with. 4 hours on our way back home we discussed the thing that we had seen. Keep in mind we both had seen it so regardless if it was the late night hour possible drowsiness or lack of sleep still can't explain the fact that we both saw the same thing. I have been curious is to the possibility of a creature or humanoid like being existing. But now after reading the article and moving from Illinois to northwest Indiana, I am even more interested now then ever. Thank you. JV

NOTE: It was later determined that the location was a public railway line that ended at 52nd St. near 13th Ave. There was a railway overpass there as well. These tracks by the road stopped at 52nd St. The being was seen crossing the road at this location. The description was very similar to others we have received - 5-6 ft in height, dark colored with bat-like wings.

There was another recently received sighting report (around the same time - August 2017) of a similar being crossing a road just south of Kenosha on Rt. 32 near the Illinois / Wisconsin border. Very similar description. Witness was fearful of talking about the incident in greater detail. Lon

Massive White Bigfoot Chased Vehicle in Rolla, Missouri

I recently received the following account:

I saw a Sasquatch up close when I was about 10 years old. I am 42 years old now but remember it like it was yesterday. There where a lot of people in the area who had seen him or evidence he had left behind. My mother and other family members would go park on a gravel road almost every weekend where he had been spotted. Most times we didn’t see anything but one night we where sitting there and started hearing rocks being thrown at the car and caught a foul smell. My mother decided it was time to go, so she started the car and began to drive off. When she turned on the lights I saw a massive upright dirty white-haired creature that fit the description of a Bigfoot running alongside the car at the edge of the wood. After a 1/4 or half mile it turn in towards the wood and vanished behind the trees. I do remember how he pushed trees aside as he made his path way deeper into the forest. It seemed 10‘ tall and very fast considering he was able to keep up and pass out car driving 35-45 miles an hour. I don’t believe he was dangerous or wanted to hurt us. I think he was just curious. I asked for further information from the witness:

It was just outside of Rolla, Missouri on a side road off State Route V. Since then they have cut down much of the forest and put in an industrial park. I’m sure the big guy has moved on to a more secluded area by now but that incident was something I will never forget. It was the kind of activity my mother and sisters used to love doing on the weekends. We would go park on the side of this rarely used gravel road where there had been many sightings. People's fences close by had been trampled down. One lady even claimed to seeing the Bigfoot peeking in her window. I only actually saw him once but knew he was there watching us on several occasions due to the smell and rocks being thrown at the car. I clearly remember one time I was sure I saw something move behind a tree. Then a short time later a car on a nearby road came by and when I went to look hoping to see something in the headlights the tree or what I thought was a tree was no longer there. The forest at the time was located north behind what is now the Hypoint Industrial Park. JH

The 'Lost Boys' Incident

I came across a BEK account that was included in Brad Steiger's 2009 book Real Vampires, Night Stalkers and Creatures from the Darkside[image error]. It references an early incident of black-eyed kids that Steiger received:

It was probably in the autumn of 2003 that people began to write to me describing their encounters with a strange group of boys, ranging from pre-teen to teenaged, who had coal black eyes and very strange and menacing ways. The first report that I received proved almost to be a prototype of the accounts that would follow.

Carter and his girlfriend Suzanne, were double-dating with their good friends Greg and Karen on a pleasant fall evening in Seattle when they encountered the strange lost boys. Carter remembered that they first saw them as they were leaving a seafood restaurant. “There were four of them,” he said. “They looked like a bunch of teenagers just lounging around the park near the restaurant on a Saturday night. No school the next day. No dates. Nothing to do. Just hanging out.” Carter opened the car door for Suzanne and walked around to the driver’s side. As he was getting behind the wheel, Suzanne asked if he knew the boys in the park. “No,” he said, and wondered why she had asked. “Because one of them is waving and I thought he called your name,” she said. Puzzled, Carter looked toward the park and saw that the group appeared to be coming toward the car. “Don’t know any of them,” he shrugged. Greg suggested that they leave. “They might be a bunch of hoods trying to make trouble,” he said. Suzanne laughed and said that they were just kids and that one of them had called Carter’s name. Greg was insistent that they leave immediately. “Kids like those very often carry guns and rob people,” he said. “Let’s get out of here.” Carter thought that Greg’s assessment of the situation made sense. The teens must have heard Carter’s name when the couples left the restaurant and one of them called his name to gain proximity for a robbery. He had heard that it was a common ploy for criminals, whatever their ages, to attempt to deceive their victims with a sense of familiarity.

“As I backed out of our parking space,” Carter said, “I made eye contact with the boy who appeared to be the leader. I wish that I had not done so. His eyes were like black marbles. When I glanced at the other boys, they, too, seemed to have no ordinary pupils. Just black marbles. I felt a shiver run through me and I burned rubber leaving the lot.” Greg asked if Carter had spotted any guns or other weapons on the kids. “No, weapons,” Carter answered, “but did any of you see their eyes? They were solid black.” Suzanne laughed and said that the kids were all trying to be cool and wearing sunglasses at twilight. “They all want to be hip-hop or rock stars,” she said. Karen agreed. Her kid brother was always wearing “shades,” trying to appear cool. Their mother was always on him, warning him that he would ruin his eyes.

The two couples went to a recently released film that they had all wanted to see. Carter said that the four of them were cheerily engaged in a mock intellectual debate over the quality of the film when he spotted the same four teenaged boys leaning against the wall of a Chinese restaurant across the street. When he directed his friends’ attention to the group, they voiced the same question almost in unison: How did they get here? How did they know what movie they were going to see? The four boys waved at them in an exaggerated gesture of friendliness. They all wore broad smiles. One of them asked them how they enjoyed the film. Greg wanted to know how the kids had been able to tail them. Did anyone notice that they had a car when they first spotted them as they came out of the restaurant? Did anyone notice that they were being followed? Even Suzanne’s cheerfulness had diminished, and she expressed her opinion that they should get out of there...fast. “As I looked at the four teenagers leaning against the wall, I couldn’t help thinking of Kiefer Sutherland and his vampire gang in the old movie The Lost Boys,” Carter said.

“We got into the car as soon as possible, and I drove to one of our favorite watering holes on the edge of the city. I was determined to get as far away from the teenaged terrors as possible. Greg kept lookout in the backseat all the way to the bar to see that we weren’t being followed.” Although Carter said that it may seem beyond all belief, when they left the bar at one in the morning, the four teenagers were lounging on the curb across the street. “To say that we were all unnerved is to make the understatement of the year,” Carter said. “Greg wanted to call the cops. Suzanne wanted to go straight home. Karen accused Greg or me of arranging a hoax to frighten the girls. She insisted that one of us had the most stupid sense of humor in the world and that we had set up the whole thing. One of us had given the teenagers our itinerary for the evening. It was all just a stupid joke. The worst one that anyone had ever thought up since the fall of Rome.”

After 20 minutes of Carter and Greg vowing that the 'Lost Boys' had not been their idea of a joke and that they had no explanation for the bizarre events of the evening, Carter dropped Greg and Karen off at their respective apartments and he and Suzanne headed home. Suzanne knew that the appearance of the boys and their subsequent stalking of the group of friends had been no joke. She was frightened and said very little on the drive back to their apartment. “We had not been home for more than a few minutes,” Carter said, “when someone rang the doorbell. We live on the first floor and the steps lead from the street right up to our door. I looked out the peephole, knowing exactly who I was going to see. It was the Lost Boys, their black eyes reflecting the lights from the street. The one I determined to be their leader was leaning on the door. The other three sprawled on the steps.” Carter grabbed a baseball bat and asked through the door what they wanted. Suzanne clutched his sleeve, insisting that he not open the door. The leader asked Carter to open the door. Carter replied that that wasn’t going to happen and told them to leave before they called the cops. “I need to make a telephone call,” the leader said. “Can I use your phone? I’ll be quick. Just one call? We need to have someone come and pick us up.” No. “We need to use your bathroom. Please let us come in to use your bathroom. We really have to go bad. Please open the door. We won’t make a mess. Just in and out. Okay?” No. “Can you give us something to eat? We haven’t eaten all day. We are starving. Can’t you spare us a little food?” No. “C’mon, we are really hungry. Let us in. Give us just a little snack. Please!” The leader’s voice was becoming louder more insistent. Then the other three joined in, almost chanting their demands that they be allowed to come in and get something to eat. Carter was unaware that Suzanne had called the police shortly after the black-eyed lost boys had begun asking to be allowed inside.

“As the squad came around the block, the boys simply disappeared,” Carter said. “They vanished in the blink of an eye. All we could tell the police officers is that a gang of rowdy teenagers had been pounding on our door, but they ran away when they heard the squad car coming. When the officers asked for descriptions, we gave accurate descriptions = except for the solid black eyes.” Carter grabbed a baseball bat and asked through the door what they wanted. Suzanne clutched his sleeve, insisting that he not open the door.

Since I received Carter’s remarkable account in 2003, men and women have been reporting similar encounters with the Lost Boys with the black eyes all over the world. On a number of occasions, witnesses have also reported encounters with black-eyed adults. At this point, no one knows for certain who these beings are, but I will once again champion their place of origin in some multidimensional corner of the universe. The modus operandi of the entities is basically the same whenever they manifest.

Lake Michigan UFO / 'Strange Wolves' Observed in Evanston, Illinois

Hi Lon,

I was following the Chicago Mothman stuff a lot back in 2017, but thought it was an isolated thing back then and didn't know anything about the latest flaps happening again in 2019. Knowing that weird stuff is happening in the area, I thought I would share a recent experience that happened on October 21st this year. This was not a Mothman encounter but definitely strange.

I'm an Uber driver and I was making my way towards Evanston, IL around 12:30 am at night to end my work day. When driving from Chicago to Evanston on Sheridan Rd, you pass between the lake and a large cemetery called Calvary Cemetery, and I take this route most nights when I'm returning home. As I was heading north on Sheridan Rd between the lake and the cemetery, I saw a huge row of lights that looked like a floating platform or something directly to my right out in the lake. I was thrown off because I take this route home every night and have never seen a boat of any out there at night, much less something that clearly didn't look like a regular boat at all. I pulled around to the little beach area in Evanston to get a better glance and could see that this thing was very far out on the water, but looked massive in size and seemed in a completely different area from where I thought I had seen it originally. It seemed to be drifting south, but because the night was completely dark, it was difficult to have any kind of reference point.

I couldn't tell what this thing was, and trying to think logically, I was picturing some kind of long and flat platform with lights on the side that people could stand up on. But the more I tried to get reference points, the more I realized that it was way too big to be some kind of floating "pontoon" object like that. As I was out of my car with my hazards on, I kept seeing police officers driving up towards me, and because all of the parks and beaches close at 11 pm, I kept running back into the car and leaving so that I didn't get in trouble for being in the beach during after hours.

I kept heading north to other areas along the lake to try to get a better vantage point, and the object became harder to see, but seemed further out and bigger than I had originally anticipated. I snapped a photo from my phone while I still could (which was extremely difficult to capture this photo at night, by the way, and it turned out pretty blurry). After seeing cops at basically every beach, I made it to the northern most beach, Lighthouse Beach, and couldn't see the object anymore.

This is what made the night even stranger, when I was pulling out of Lighthouse Beach, I saw two HUGE coyote/wolf looking things that were grinning and sort of prancing together in unison. I've seen coyotes in the Chicago area before, but these seemed more wolf-like and much larger than I was used to, and again, seemed out of place, and even though it was dark out and my eyes could have been playing tricks on me, they seemed to sort of "blur" kind of like a hologram as they moved, and they both jumped straight into a row of tall hedges at the same time and disappeared.

When I made my way back south to the original spot I saw it on Sheridan, the object was completely gone. Since then, I've kept trying to tell myself that this was a normal boat or something, but every time I've looked out to the lake at night since then, every single boat that looks at all similar to this thing has flashing lights on it, like airplane lights, and my object had none at all. I also wonder if this thing was much larger than I had originally thought, because the most similar looking shape that I've seen since then is an actual dock that's lit up at night and probably 100 yards long.

Not sure what to make of this experience, but it was definitely strange. I'm wondering if anybody saw this same object on October 21st and if any other strange "wolves" were out there to accompany it. SD

New Red-Eyed Winged Humanoid Sighting at O'Hare International Airport

On Saturday December 7, 2019 I was alerted to a new and credible winged humanoid SIGHTING at O'Hare International Airport. I personally talked to the witness 'DR' who, in turn, later talked to Tobias Wayland. DR provided the following information:

At approximately 10:20 pm local time on Friday December 6th. 2019, the witness DR had left work at a cargo facility at O'Hare International Airport in Rosemont, Illinois. DR turned left from Patton Dr. onto W. Higgins Rd. After travel west for approximately 600 ft he noticed a tall dark entity with wings standing by the fence to his left. According to DR, and on the map he provided, the entity was 100 ft or so from him. DR noticed the strikingly red glowing eyes of this winged humanoid. He stated that he later found the previously reported incident (on Phantoms & Monsters) near the O'Hare International cargo area and likened his sighting to be the same entity. But this time, the red eyes were observed.

DR said that he was shocked at the time and felt an overwhelming sense of dread rush over him. The witness is very credible and lucid. He promises to offer any follow-up or other witness information if it should surface. This is the 7th reported sighting in the Rosemont / O'Hare International area during the past 2 months.

On the map provided by DR (below), he states: "This red circle is where I saw it. The purple X is where I work. I left around 10:16 pm, and had my at 10:20 pm while heading west on W. Higgins Rd down that blue line.":

Talking to Two Dead Girls / 'I have to let them in'

“I was asleep and I was having what I thought was a dream but there wasn't anything weird happening. I was just talking to these two girls that I've never seen nor met before but we were just having a normal conversation. When we finished talking, I woke up and I just felt weird. I can't explain the feeling other that I just felt off. I told my mum about it later on and she said from what I had explained it sounded like spirits communicating with me, and she said she was getting a strong feeling that they had died in a car accident. She said if I could figure out what to Google I might find something more out about them. Nevertheless, I typed keywords that described them and car crash into Google and the first things that came up in the search was a car crash that had happened in Australia a week prior and there was a photo on the website. It was the two girls I had been talking to.” Alice

“So let me preface this story by saying I consider myself an agnostic in most areas of my life, including the supernatural. I don't fully believe, but I still feel there isn't enough evidence to deny any spiritual intervention from being true. With that this story still gives me chills every time I hear it.

Back in the late 70's my Dad and his family lived in this small town in Ohio. They had just moved into a new house and my grandma found it extremely unsettling. For the first several nights of staying there my grandma would lie awake, either in her bed or downstairs in the living room, fearful of what was lurking in or around the new house. One night after another sleepless night my grandma, who had been making herself something to eat in the kitchen, heard noises over by the front door and went to investigate. When she got to the front entrance she found my aunt, the youngest member of the family (probably about 4 or 5) attempting to turn the deadbolt of the front door to open it. My grandma then intervened and pulled my aunt away from the door. She was awake, but almost in a trance-like state. Bewildered and a little aggravated my grandma asked my aunt what she thought she was doing at this time of night. My aunt was silent for a moment. Staring off into space. Finally she responded to my grandma with a simple sentence. "I have to let them in." My grandma was completely confused and terrified asked her what she was talking about, but my aunt just kept repeating the phrase over and over again. "I have to let them in. I have to let them in." The only thing keeping her from the door was my grandma holding her tiny little shoulders from walking any further. Needless to say, my grandma was scared sh-tless.

Giant 'Bat-Winged' Humanoid Sighted in Downer's Grove, Illinois

I recently received and followed-up this account:

"Though I've spoke of my encounters at least a 1000 times I've always attributed the sightings to a giant owl or bat of some kind. I realize today, that this creature was way to big to be any bird. Anyway about 2011 or so, in the Fall, my brother-in-law and I were sitting around a small bonfire in my backyard on a beautiful Indian summer night enjoying what was left of the nice weather. All of a sudden, my brother-in-law whispers, "Dude, check that out." I slowly turned to look toward the south where he seemed to be focused and asked what he was looking at. He said look at the big oak two houses down. I did as he started lining me up using a few landmarks and just then I noticed what he was looking at about 20 feet up in the tree. This huge creature seem to kind of jump, maybe dead drop out intentionally. It fell forward spreading or opening what looked more like bat wings or a cape, then a set of wings. They never closed or even flapped before this thing disappeared behind the fence. In other words it glided from at least 20 feet up almost straight down until it disappeared behind the fence. There was no noise from the tree branches, not a crackle from the leafs it landed on nor a sound from anything. None at all, dead silence! Needless to say, because both of us seeing the same thing we were freaked out. We quickly went inside, trying to rationalize the whole thing. We decided we'd call it a big owl from then on! I've always thought it was something other than a bird! He and I will still occasionally joke about that night being the "Batman" experience!

My other encounter happened several miles from here, alone driving to my favorite spot on the Kankakee River southbound on I-55 crossing the Illinois River bridge at dawn. Something flew out from under that bridge right across my line of sight completely covering my windshield, blocking my forward sight for a second, then it was gone! In that case all I know is that thing was also huge and seemed to be brown in the new morning light! Mike"

The witness followed-up with more information:

Sorry, didn't realize I hadn't mentioned my location. Anyway I'm in far northwest corner of Downers Grove, Illinois, very close to the Morton Arboretum. Lots of open land and forest preserves. In the last two weeks we had three wild turkeys in the front yard, a first, and a snow owl in a small tree out in front of the house, another first simply because it was mid-morning. We've had just about every indigenous animal you can think of here over the last 22 years though nothing shocked me like that night all those years ago! Mike

NOTE: I called and talked to the witness. I also received verification from the brother-in-law and I may talk a bit more with him. The size was estimated to be 6 ft in height and definitely humanoid, with legs and attached arms to the bat-like wings. Black in color with a wing span of 10 ft or so. Lights from the street and neighbor's house helped to illuminate the being, but they were unable to get specific details of the face. The time was estimated to be before midnight. Lon
