Music Monday: Aer

The Grammy’s were last night and shocker, I didn’t get one again. I don’t know what I’ve gotta do to get their attention. I sing all the time. Well, mostly alone in my car, but there should be a Grammy for that. My Music Monday this week is a duo from the suburbs of Boston that I thought would be a lot closer to a Grammy than me. I first heard this song last summer and loved it immediately. I was sure that it was going to be a breakout, crossover hit. Sadly, for them and me I was wrong. I sti...

Fifty Shades of …Phil?

Fifty-Shades-of-Phil-large

I am absolutely outraged! Just because I’m a small time author, some big movie company thinks they can steal my title, change a word and pretend it’s their idea. My Fifty Shades of Phil book came out in June 2013, so obviously I had the idea first. I’m considering legal action.

Because of this weeks movie opening of Fifty Shades of GreyI thought I’d capitalize on all the people searching the web for info using the phrase #FiftyShades by putting my book on sale. Many people may visit my site he...

The F— Word

I said it. In the words of Ralphie, “I said THE word, the big one, the queen-mother of dirty words, the “F-dash-dash-dash” word!” It’s not news that I said it. It’s noteworthy because my son heard me say it for the first time in his life. He’s 17, so he wasn’t traumatized, but he was so surprised that he immediately went and told Mrs. Phil.

Hi. My name is Phil and I’m an effing swearer. It’s been my dirty little secret for years. I’m a fecking secret curser. Not cursor like on your computer, b...

I Heart My Little A-Holes author Karen Alpert!

I-Heart-My-Little-AHoles

Those of you that have followed me for a long time have seen me interview Pulitzer Prize winners, rocket scientists, magicians and a lot of awesome bestselling authors. Those interviews were alright, but today I have someone really impressive, a Mom. Not just any mom. I have a Karen Alpert, author of the New York Times bestselling book I Heart My Little A-Holes: A bunch of holy-crap moments no one ever told you about parenting and the long running, hilarious blog Baby Sideburns.

I’m a parent...

Throwback Thursdays! Zombie Love Boat

This post is a year old and it’s already an all time classic. People love zombies and this post has gotten views from all over the web and all over the world since I first posted it last February.

Love Boat

I knew this picture combined with the title would lure you children of the 80’s here. Apparently your memories of the kitschy Saturday night show featuring B-list celebs hooking up was popular enough that millions of people now support the growing cruise industry by taking cruises themselves, possibl...

Wordless Wednesday: Andy and The Big Dead Waltz

DSC_0327

This is another of the great murals you can find all over my city. This one was painted by artist Caitlin Yarskylast summer. For those of you that commented on my Top Ten post yesterday, I apologize that my responses were infrequent or non-existent. I was very busy with my day job. Have a great Wednesday! ~Phil

Top Ten Tuesday! The Ten Best Cereals Ever!

When you were ever a kid and you got dragged along on grocery shopping trips the only highlight was the cereal aisle. Don’t you remember turning into that aisle and seeing rays of light from above reflecting off every cartoon face on every box as you were serenaded by a chorus of angels. You had found the promised land. This is my list of the Top Ten Best Cereals ever.

Music Monday!

Because I like music, themes and alliteration I’ve decided to add a new Monday feature, Music Monday. Music on Mondays isn’t a new idea. Steve of Steve Saysdid music so well that he created a whole new blog, Now This is What I Would Call Music.I won’t even attempt to approach Steve’s comprehensive knowledge of music. What I will do is each Monday post the video of a song I’m currently enjoying or maybe a classic that you might have forgotten about. This week’s song is one of those that I like...

The People at Your Super Bowl Party

Originally posted on The Phil Factor:

We may be going to different Super Bowl parties this weekend, but alot of the people at our parties will be eerily similar and equally irritating. Read on and see if you can identify these folks at your party this Sunday. If you can’t, you’re probably one of them.

The Gambler: He may know when to hold’em but he doesn’t know when to fold’em or when to shut up. This guy always wants you to know the “over/under” and how much he’s got riding on the game. And h...

The Official Blog of The Super Bowl

I’m not saying that The Phil Factor is The Official Blog of The #SuperBowl, and I’m not saying it’s not. What I am saying is that I want to get a cease and desist letter from the National Football League’s lawyers.

For those of you not from the States, or from the U.S. but you just don’t care, this weekend is the championship game of the National Football League, otherwise known as the #SuperBowl.I’m hashtagging those words, linking to their site, and making a point of using the phrase ‘Super...
