Music Monday! Bleachers: I Wanna Get Better

This is one of my favorite new bands from the past year. Great song to start off the work week with.

Have a great Monday! ~Phil

And You Thought Hillary Clinton’s E-Mails Might Be Bad?

This is my quarterly “Fun with Search Terms” post where I highlight the stupidest search terms that brought someone to my blog. If you come from outside the blog world to read this, I’ll explain. Those of us that operate a blog get all sorts of information about things, like how many people read our blog each day, what countries they come from, how they got to us, ie from Facebook, Twitter or Google, and we get to see the idiotic search terms they typed into Google that brought them to us. Tr...

Rest in Fun Terry Pratchett

The literary world has lost a wonderful writer. Sir Terry Pratchett died yesterday at the age of 66 due to Alzheimers. In the title I wrote ‘Rest in Fun’ and I believe that Terry will certainly be having a wonderful time in the afterlife. Yes, if there is an afterlife, I believe that Terry Pratchett probably embraced the new adventure he embarked upon yesterday. Why would I think this? I think this because he wrote of Death. It was a character in some of his books.

Throwback Thursday! The Man Who Would Be Bieber

This is one of the worst stories I have ever reported on The Phil Factor. Proceed at your own risk.

(03/22/14) First off, I have to apologize to my readers for having missed this story last fall. Secondly, I have to apologize for including it on my blog at all.

SheldonBieber

No, despite my obvious boyish charm I do not strive to be Bieber-like. Thirty-three year old German-born songwriter Toby Sheldon, pictured on the left above and now living in the United States, does. He has spent roughly $100,000 on p...

Hey Facebook! I’ll Feel Fat If I Want To

images (24)

According to USA Today “Facebook is replacing its “feeling fat” emoji with “feeling stuffed” after thousands of people signed an online petition to protest that it promoted online body shaming.”

Apparently now Facebook is telling us how we can and cannot feel. If I want to feel fat I’m going to feel fat. And if I want to tell all my friends that I feel fat, I will. I don’t need Facebook or a bunch of self-righteous jerks with an online petition telling me that my feelings might hurt someone el...

Music Monday! Josie’s on a Vacation Far Away…

Remember this one? Best opening to a song ever. How do you not sing along at the top of your lungs in the car? It’s an oldie, but there’s only two other songs I can think of that come close to having as good of an attention getting start.

So what’s your favorite opening to a song? Have a great Monday! ~Phil

Daylight Stupid Time

This is my bi-annual reminder that tonight in the U.S. we move our clocks forward by an hour and my reminder that it’s stupid. I’ve been posting this since 2006 and will continue to do so until we do away with Daylight Savings Time.

Daylight-Savings-Time

When I’m elected President, or Sexiest Man Alive, whichever comes first, I’m going to pass a law getting rid of Daylight Savings Time. I don’t know if other countries do this. I do know that not all the U.S. states abide by it. Daylight Savings Time was created abo...

Which Profile Pic Should I Use? Vote Now!

I’ve used the same profile pic here on The Phil Factor for about 5 years. I like the picture, but am wondering if it’s time to update. I’m putting it to a vote. Here are the three I’m considering. Vote in the poll below the pictures and by this time tomorrow the winning picture will be the profile picture in the upper left corner. C’mon, please indulge me. I had nothing else to post today.

TBT! Retirement Advice for President Obama

(Originally posted 3/1/14) This week all the news programs aired a video of our President and Vice-President jogging around inside the White House in their shirts and ties. The idea of the video is to support Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative to fight obesity in the U.S. It’s ironic that to reduce obesity she wants us to sit down to watch a video.

This is just embarrassing. For cripes sake Obama! This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen a President do, and that includes Lewinsky. You’re t...
