Professor calls for human extinction to save planet

On January 23, 2020, Bloomsbury Academic published a call to action for all those who care about “climate change.” The Ahuman Manifesto: Activism for the End of the Anthropocene by Patricia MacCormack, a professor of continental philosophy at Angelia Ruskin University, cuts to the chase and advocates for the ultimate solution to global warming: The end of the human race. High tides as Storm Ciara makes way for Storm Dennis

In the aftermath of Storm Ciara, Britain is bracing for more bad weather this weekend, with forecasters warning that Storm Dennis could hammer the UK.

Met Office meteorologists have confirmed that there will be strong gusts across the UK, with a yellow weather warning already in place on Saturday.

This was the scene at Southport this week...

Sorry about the wet lens - sea spray made shooting hard work...
Stay safe and watch out for the next...

First day over of a new decade

People gathered this afternoon on Ainsdale beach to watch the first sunset of the new decade.

The weather stayed calm and mild over the Irish Sea as the evening arrived.

Then darkness fell, leaving the cold shoreline to the lonely cries of the curlew, herring gull and oystercatchers.

Xmas Spirit or heartless Tory attitudes that defy belief

Another arrogant Tory candidate insults the neediest people in society.

Heartless Tory candidate says people using foodbanks should get better at managing their budget

Many voters are saying today that yet again the Tory Party has shown its true colours, as another candidate insults thousands of desperate people struggling to find food under the hated Universal Credit scheme that’s so beloved of the current government.

Free Parking – last day at RSPB Marshside

From tomorrow, charges will be imposed on drivers at Marshside's RSPB car park. It is believed that the new parking fees will only apply to non-members of the society.

RSPB salary band for the chief executive role was apparently between 131,309 and 175,879. The charity’s accounts for the year to the end of March 2018 show that total benefits received by the charity’s chief executive, including employer pension contribution and national insurance, were 145,683 in 2017/18.

Tin Star cast - grabbing ice creams in Southport

Filming of an episode of the latest Tin Star series commenced recently on Southport’s Marine Drive.

The day was windy with the stars of the show seen visibly shaking in the stiff Irish Sea breeze, as they left the comfort of their trailer.

Above: leading man, Tim Roth, in action at the film shoot.

Tim Roth, Genevieve O’Reilly and Abigail Lawrie return to their roles. The new series is said to be more volatile than ever before.

Local residents looked on, bewildered by all the fuss...

A Lancashire ghost tale from the riverbank - the Grey Lady of the Stream

Around about the time of Halloween towards the old festival of Yuletide, people like to scare each other with spooky tales of spectres, haunting and ghosts.

What I will share with you here is simply an honest story. I care little if you believe it or not.

The subsequent tale that I shall relate to you is true and taken from a work I have been writing in connection with my passion for fly fishing on wild, northern English spate streams.

Angling is, for some of...
