UPDATED: Tonight off Birkdale – Status: Restricted Manoeuvrability…

LATEST NEWS:
We are informed that a vessel is currently making its way across the Irish Sea laying international fibre optic cable that will connect with BT’s network locally. This may indeed, therefore, be the task of the ROXANE Z, which is still off Birkdale this morning (24/7/2019).
Earlier. The tug ‘ROXANE Z’ appears to have run aground onto a sandbank or broken down off the Birkdale coastline. This is not however yet confirmed.
She was stationary this afternoon and this evening (23/7/2019)...

UK’s New PM Boris Johnson – more hunting to come?

When he was Foreign Secretary, Johnson defended the brutal sport of bullfighting at a dinner to celebrate Anglo-Spanish relations.
Johnson launched his defence of bullfighting, claiming Spain’s partial ban on the sport is “political correctness gone mad”. The cruelly tortured bulls, however, most likely would have disagreed with him.
Johnson repeatedly voted against a ban on fox hunting in the early 2000s, when he was MP for Henley.
As London's mayor, Boris absurdly suggested introducing h...

Woodvale Jackdaw roof rescue

This morning caring staff members from Brookdale Daycare Centre in Sandbrook Way noticed a young jackdaw that was trapped and dangling on dilapidated woodwork in flats opposite the centre.
Staff tried desperately to alert residents at the flats, yet to no avail. They were understandably distressed at the bird’s plight. The jackdaw had been stuck up there for several hours it seemed and a call from the Brookdale to the RSPB was only greeted with advice that they would “pass a message on”.

The Glossy Ibis at Marshside

This species used to be quite rare but numbers are said to be increasing. Nevertheless, the Glossy Ibis always seems to draw in the twitchers from near and far.

Christian vigilantism today

Christian vigilante/false accuser 56-year-old Philip Day was sentenced to jail time for a sick crusade of biblically-fuelled harassment, vented on a teacher and headmistress.
Day, of Runcorn, was jailed for 15 years with an extended licence period of five years.
Some years ago Day made unfounded sexual accusations against a teacher from the Northwich academy, which was formally known as Rudheath High School. Cheshire Police mounted an investigation yet Day’s wild claims were never corroborated....
