To feed or not to feed – new duckpond posters ruffle feathers

Recent campaigns have seen people advised not to fling bread into duck ponds, amid claims that it’s not good for wild birds and may attract too many rats.

However, posters have now started to pop up all over the UK, telling residents, ‘It’s OK to feed us bread.’

KFC all Halal - claim Politicalite

A claim has been made that KFC has “accidentally confirmed” that all its UK outlets serve chicken that has been slaughtered under cruel, non-stun Islamic methods.

The claim is said to come after KFC's website indicated that most of its stores in the UK aren’t Halal.

https://www.politicalite.com/halal/finger-lickin-bad-kfc-accidentally-reveals-all-uk-restaurants-serve-halal-meat/

Presumably then, controversially – slaughtered Halal chicken is available at Southport’s  KFC outlet.

Paramotor flying machines at Ainsdale

Powered paragliding is also known as paramotoring or PPG.

During this type of ultralight aviation the pilot wears a back-mounted motor (a paramotor).

This delivers enough thrust to take off using a paraglider. It can be launched in still air, and on level ground, by the pilot.

Yesterday, a few intrepid fliers were seen on the shore at Ainsdale heading off to Formby Point.

Others decided on a more conventional mode of flight.

The 2019 Southport Air Show

Sights and sounds from the 2019 Southport Air Show.

This year, the Dakota played ‘Big Mother’ as the Avro Lancaster Bomber was absent from the famous Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The ever-popular Spitfire.

The Hurricane.

Daredevil wingwalking antics thrilled the crowds.

Earplugs were not a bad idea as the Typhoon roared past.

Raw Swedish power was there too with the amazing Saab Viggen.

The P-47 Thunderbolt - a plane with a fine combat heritage.
The G-JPIT - a super cool stunt...

Ainsdale family finds justice after alleged assault on their child by teacher

Our youngest son, Jason, claimed to have been assaulted by a teacher in 2012.  Jason was only 8 years old at that time.

The allegation was denied by King’s Meadow school and the blinkered education authority. Below is the story of an education system that utterly failed a trusting little boy and his family.

Due to the appalling failings of the Sefton education system, the family were eventually forced to take legal action that was ultimately successful with the Defendant accepting defeat a...

Southport Flower Show 2019: second day and the heavens opened

Brollies and Wellington boots became the wisest option to tackle the second day of the Southport Flower Show.

Seats around the arena remained wet and empty as the rain hammered down.

Pathways almost became miniature streams, as the rainfall continued.

Undeterred by the elements, singers continued to blast out their tunes …

Friday 16th August was also Ladies Day.

Laurel and Hardy were also present and last seen hanging around the anti-inflammatory balm stall for some unspecified reason.

In pictures: Southport Flower Show 2019

This 2019 event marks 90 years of Southport's Flower Show

On this first day of the show, the skies were moody yet the rain stayed away.

Despite recent heavy rain earlier in the week, the crowds flocked in to see the show.

Things got slightly weird at times.

Bruno - doing his thing...

Fingers crossed for more dry weather to accompany the following days of the Southport Flower Show.

RSPB Marshside - Nel’s Hide 'finally' closed

Bird watching hide closed following wildlife photographer's caution

Last month after visiting Nel’s Hide at Marshside I wrote to the RSPB with a plea to close the hide due to nesting swallows that were being distressed by inquisitive people.

I told the RSPB the following:
“I wish to highlight nesting swallows within the roof at Nel's Hide that are being disturbed by curious visitors. This is inside the hide, not outside it.  I believe the RSBP should close this hide until the bi...
