Flooding around Ainsdale

 

Flood warnings covering various regions across the UK proved accurate and parts of Southport had a moderate amount of rain. The following images were taken around Ainsdale in Southport this morning. 











































Forget the car - bring a boat. The car park at Ainsdale Discovery Centre was flooded as usual

Filming on Ainsdale Beach

 

A film crew and cast were in action today on the beach at Ainsdale.

Although not confirmed yet, it is believed that this activity may be linked to the new 'Enola Homes' Netflix series; or to 'The Irregulars'. 














Images were taken from several hundred yards away with super zoom.


Above - a long range clip of the action - is the tall man in the long black coat (on the right) Henry Cavill or...? 



The weather stayed warm and dry for the film crew...

Southport Police on alert for protest trouble today

 

Left wing protesters gathered at midday in a small group outside Southport Town Hall after hearing of right wing plans to stage a demo, allegedly concerning immigrants. 













The situation was reported on a Facebook page called 'Merseyside Anti-Fascist Network'



 

Police had gathered outside the Town Hall and at the Scarisbrick Hotel on Lord Street 











The left wing demonstrators and the police watching them had largely departed from the Town Hall site within the hour.

The Squirrels of Ainsdale - why we need more trees

 

Both grey and red squirrels are to be seen in Ainsdale gardens. 

This blog is just a brief report of recent sighting of both species in Sandbrook Road

Chinook helicopters training at RAF Woodvale today - UPDATED!















Chinook helicopters from RAF Benson are currently operating at RAF Woodvale.

















Essential training for crews has been scheduled from 6-11 September 2020 during exercise Kukri Dawn. This exercise is part of the operational flying phase of the Chinook training course run by 28 squadron based at RAF Benson; the operational conversion unit for the Puma and Chinook forces.

‘THANK U NHS’ Spitfire over Southport Hospital today


















The iconic WW2 aircraft was seen today flying briefly over Southport & Formby General Hospital















Above: a long range shot of the Spitfire in action today.














The Spitfire was covered with the names of 80,000 NHS staff, family members, neighbours and friends chosen by the public to identify the sacrifices and acts of kindness over previous months.

The aircraft took off earlier from Duxford Airfield near Cambridge before flying over several hospitals.

Ainsdale beach - as the tide ebbs away





















The wild and wonderful coastline of the Irish Sea provides a wealthy feeding ground for many wading birds.

















No matter what the weather brings, it's always great to wander along the wild Ainsdale tidal line...
















Dunlin, sanderling and numerous other waders can be seen at Ainsdale ...


Stormy skies over the Irish Sea at Ainsdale can be as dramatic as any colourful sunset...

Choppy seas also attract extreme sports enthusiasts... 
The dunes are constantly moving along the Sefton coastline...
