Excerpt:Lord. Whoever had been on the other end of that phone was coming to my room. I had to get out of there. Because as much as I loved believing in miracles, those didn’t exist, which meant this guy was some psychopathic stalker, some frigging lunatic who’d convinced everyone he was my boyfriend.
I slipped from the covers and immediately had to brace myself on the edge of the hospital bed. My head pulsed with painful, dizzying jabs. I slowly stood upright and willed myself steady. My ribs and hip were sore, but I’d survive. That was, if I got the heck out there.
I blew out a breath and wobbled to the clear plastic bag hanging on the wall with my belongings. I had to find my mother. I had to warn her. What if this guy showed up and tried something?
I slipped on my jeans, sweatshirt, and sneakers, not bothering with the other stuff. I grabbed my phone and purse and tiptoed to the door.
I poked my head out, hoping to spot my mother doing rounds, but instead I saw—
The breath whooshed from my lungs. Santiago?
Cue slow motion and avalanche of conflicting, irrational thoughts accompanied by an imminent panic attack.
My stomach and heart squeezed into a brick and then dropped through the center of my body.
Lord, help me.
Because the man I’d invented—correction—the gorgeous man I’d stolen a picture of, stood twenty feet away, speaking to my mother, wearing low-slung faded jeans and a fitted white, button-down shirt.
I stared in wonderment while my eyes infused with his image and branded itself on my brain. He was lust, rock star, tough guy, jock, Prince Charming, and misfit rolled into one dangerous, rugged, well-groomed package. He sent my female brain into a tailspin.
I’ve lost my mind. That gorgeous man is not standing there. That’s not possible!
I willed my heavy feet to move, but my eyes remained glued to him. He was tall—around six three or six four—and, just like in his photo, built like a lean, mean predatory animal with broad shoulders and powerful-looking…everything. Especially those arms. And those legs. And those…yep. Everything. To boot, he stood with the sort of confidence that gave me the distinct impression he really might be deadly. And ate his meat raw. Possibly still squealing.
Santiago, who towered over my mother, leaned down and hugged her. Then my mother said something, and they laughed like old friends.
What? He hugged my mother? What was happening? Did she know him? Was the universe punishing me for lying? If it was, it was totally working. I’d never, ever lie again.

About the Author:Before taking up a permanent residence in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Mimi Jean Pamfiloff spent time living near NYC (became a shopaholic), in Mexico City (developed a taste for very spicy food), and Arizona (now hates jumping chollas but pines for sherbet sunsets). My 5 Star Review
I received this book from the touring host for an honest review.
Tears rolled down my face during the first part of this book, it was hilarious, funny and quirky. Just what you will expect from the author. I enjoyed her previous series so much that I jumped at the chance to read another book out of her pen. And she did not disappoint. The hero was mouthwatering sexy, very serious, obnoxious, and manipulative, but it all add to the suspense the author creates in her stories. The young woman Dakota played her roll well but once she started to learn more about her life and where this handsome man fitted in she mature from a young school girl to a young woman in a heartbeat. The second part of the book became more suspense filled as unnatural things happened around her, with her shadow always around her. And of course the lust scenes that later became love scenes kept your attention throughout as the plot develops into a well written story. The fast paced plot kept you glued to the pages, the scenes unfolded to give you each time a better view of the story and the many layers of the story which was entertaining. For her first "normal" contemporary romance, the author did an exceptionally good job, although I had to admit I was expecting the paranormal to appear somewhere. The characters were believable although I did not like the absent father, whom never featured except for a delivery or voice mail. But at the end all was revealed, and the story had a nice touch that I liked.
And the book, loved the idea, very original. Once again a great read from Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, thank you for the opportunity.

Excerpt: The car horn sounded like a trumpet, making me laugh hysterically. Hugh was anything but subtle. Jamming my feet into my Converse shoes, I tie the laces in a hurry and rush for the door."Where are you going?"My mother, one of the shortest people I know, tries to block my way. I gently nudge her aside as I zip up my hoody. "I'm going out," I mumble."No you're not. It's Friday night. You have youth group. Your father is expecting to see you there.""Well he's going to be disappointed...again. How many times do I have to tell you guys I'm not interested? I don't want to sound snarky, but I can't help it. I hate youth group. I hate church. I hate that my minister is my dad who is constantly harping on about it and forcing me to go to stuff that is as boring as hell. It's bad enough they force me to the Sunday morning snore-fest each week. I decided a few months ago, that my parents could stop stealing my Friday nights as well. I used to sneak out after youth group all the time, but it was getting tiring. The last few months of just skipping it have been much easier, although I could do without the arguments.”"Dale, stop." I don't bother holding in my sigh as I pause by the front door. My mother's voice, usually so soft and sweet has taken on a hard edge. It's been doing that a lot lately."You know the rules."Do I ever!"You must attend youth group. How do you think it looks to the parishioners when their own minister's son doesn't even show up?""I don't care how it looks." I spin around to face her. "I don't care what any of those people think. I'm not here to impress them. I never asked to be a minister's kid.""Dale…""No! I'm going out." Her expression crests with sadness before bunching into a tight frown.I race out the door before she can stop me. Her voice chases me down the path all the way to Hugh's car. I slam the door shut, trying to block out the, "Dale, you get back here right now!" "Go, man, go!" Hugh nods and screeches away from the curb, but not fast enough for me to miss the tears welling in my mother's eyes. I shouldn't have looked back.I hate that. Why does she have to go crying about it and making me feel bad? Maybe if her and Dad would stop lumping so many rules on me, and actually listen to what I had to say, I wouldn't have to cause her so much pain. This had been brewing for years, mostly without me knowing it, but at the end of my freshman year I just snapped. I couldn't play the role anymore. I refused to keep following the rules I thought were stupid. They weren't doing it because they loved me, they were just worried about what the damn church goers thought. It was all about appearances to them. I refused to follow some religion I wasn't even sure I believed in. Hypocrites were the worst kind of sinners, and I wasn't going to be lumped in with them. No, I had chosen to swing to the complete opposite side of the spectrum. Having spent a lifetime living by the letter of the law, I was now doing my best to live as far from the law as possible.

5 Star Review for Arctic Fire by Paul Byers

Buy Link: Amazon
Wealthy entrepreneur Nigel Cain has devised an efficient new way to bring the earth’s most precious resource to the masses – clean water – by transporting massive man-made icebergs from the frigid arctic and delivering them literally to the doorsteps of millions.

Gabriel Pike works at a small engineering firm that has been awarded the task of giving the final safety approval to pilot the first gigantic block of ice into New York harbor.

A consummate showman, Cain has built a fabulous 5-Star hotel and casino high atop the iceberg so his celebrity guests and media elite can cover this spectacle from beginning to end. Pike is whisked away from his work-a-day world and dropped into the lap of luxury where he’s expected to simply rubber-stamp his inspection.

A brutal winter storms ravages the iceberg and exposes structural inconsistencies and hidden agendas that fill Pike with serious doubts about the true intentions of the project. But a grisly double homicide on the ice puts the inspections on the back burner and sends Pike’s life spiraling out of control when he’s accused of being the jealous murderer in a lover’s triangle.

But Pike soon discovers that there is far more at stake than just his life. He uncovers a conspiracy more heinous than anything he could have imagined – a plot that will level a city, change the political face of America, and whose shockwaves will be felt around the world. Fate rests in his hands – if he can survive long enough to take action...

About the author

Paul grew up in Oregon on the shores of the mighty and mysterious Columbia River, and spent endless hours daydreaming on the beach in front of his house, making up stories about the ships from exotic ports all over the world that steamed up the river – what secret cargo might they be carrying; did they harbor spies who were on dark and exciting missions?

Later in adult life, he moved to another mysterious and provocative city – Las Vegas, just outside the famous Nellis Air Force base. After work he would sit on his porch and watch the fighters take off and land, igniting his imagination with visions of secret missions and rich speculation about what could possibly be hidden at Area 51.

After moving back to his native Pacific Northwest, Paul worked for the Navy and took every opportunity he could to speak with veterans from WWII to the Gulf War, listening to them swap stories and relate the experiences of a lifetime.

So it is this combination of a passionate love of history, a vivid “what if” imagination, and a philosophy of life that boils down to the belief that – there are few things in life that a bigger hammer won’t fix – that led Paul to become a writer of exciting, fact-based action-thrillers. His greatest joy is leaving his readers wondering where the facts end and the fiction begins.

Since I was on bed rest for the past two weeks I was afraid that I would not have the time to read the book so I asked my husband if he was willing to give it a go, this is his thoughts.
I must add that he loved this book immensely, describing the story to me with flailing arms and huge eyes, with lively commentary and great detail from interesting scenes that impressed him.

My 5 Star Review

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Where do I start with a story like this? First of all, we are in the time of World War 1 on board a U boat with an iceberg on the top of the U-boat then all off a sudden things happened, and Titanic is on the scene now you wonder what is this story going to be about? Just another explanation of the Titanic’s maiden voyage, but surprises awaits for the reader as we are taken to the present time with 2 pilots in the air with another plane coming on the scene, and we met Pike a veteran pilot. So this is where the story start to unfold and as we read on we met Cain and Beth. They have a significantly big project that our famous veteran pilot must help them with. He is actually a Structural Engineer, and Cain has build a large floating iceberg, and they need Pike to inspect the structure that is on its way to New York harbor. Well this is where all the drama and suspense unfolds on a moving iceberg. I must say I was skeptic at first, but as the story line unfolds I was quiet surprised and intrigued to continue reading. Slow starter but as all the building blocks comes together it gain momentum and becomes fast paced. Well written you are drawn into this world never knowing what to expect from page to page.Well done Paul you have masterly crafted a good suspense as well as a very believable project in terms of the iceberg on the see floating. A very enjoyable read, thanks.

Book Barrage for "By Love's Honor Bound" Interview with Patricia Bond

By Love's Honor Bound by Patricia BondHistorical RomanceCategories: Action/Adventure, Mystery/ThrillerPublisher: Soul Mate PublishingRelease Date: July 17, 2013Heat Level: SteamyWord Count: 98,000
Available at:Amazon:
Description:Someone is killing Conductors on the Underground Railroad one by one. With a cellar full of runaway slaves, Olivia June Mathieson must decide - is the handsome Fenton Pierce-Smythe savior or traitor?
Both Fenton Pierce-Smythe’s fiancee and grandfather were killed when runaway slaves spooked their horses. Determined no one else will face that pain, he hunts runaways to return them safely to their owners. But can he remain unmoved by their plight? And unaffected by the beautiful woman who risks her life to lead them to freedom?
About the Author:Ever since her first encounter with a long hooped skirt gown at age 5, Ms. Bond fell in love with the style. Her love of historical romance began a bit later, when she discovered Gladys Malvern’s books and scoured the public library for every one she could find. Reading Gone With the Wind as a teenager cemented her suspicion that she was born about 100 years too late. She daydreamed about writing novels but knew it was beyond her ability at that time.  Instead, she tried her hand at poetry and really bad iambic pentameter flowed from her fingers. Thankfully, for the world at large, it was a short-lived obsession.
After attending an all-girl high school run by Felician nuns, she enrolled in a local men’s college that had just opened its doors to women. (A Libra, she understands the need for balance.) She earned her B.A. in English, and met her future husband there.  Many years, four children and a grandchild later, the man who made her see fireworks with the first kiss is still her go-to research assistant for all things romantic.
The desire to write books never left, even as she worked selling property and casualty insurance, Avon, and craft kits. She sold luggage at a local department store to earn the money to attend her first RWA national conference and finally feels safe enough to admit to hiding a legal pad under her counter where she wrote scenes in between customers. She still does much of her writing longhand. (100 years too late, remember?)
RWA is the best thing to happen to her writing career, teaching the art as well as the craft of writing. It also brought her together with four of the most amazing women she’s ever known - critique partners and friends.  Special thanks and much love to Helen, Karen, Carol and Jan. An amateur photographer, Reiki master and Guild knitter, Ms. Bonds lives in Western New York one mile from the home she grew up in. You can often find her at the lakeside, camera and notebook in hand.

Interview Questions:
1.      Where did the idea come from for the book? It's sort of a combination of things – I live in Western New York which has a rich history, including being a major stopping point for runaway slaves to enter into Canada. There are several buildings in the area that were used as “stations” for the Underground Railroad and are designated as historic sites. I had heard a best-selling author say that she found story lines by giving her hero and heroine opposite occupations, like the preservationist and the developer. I thought of a conductor on the Underground Railroad, and the natural opposite to that is the bounty hunter. And so were born Livvy and Fenton.2.      What genre does your book fall under? My book is a historical romance with a subplot of murder, betrayal and all sorts of mayhem.3.      Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Oh. . . that's kind of tough. I think maybe a younger Pierce Brosnan. He's got the look – that dark, dark hair and the blue eyes, and maybe Kiera Knightly as Livvy – blonde, spunky and cute as hell.
4.      What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? How long a sentence can I use? How about. . . . Underground Railroad conductor Olivia Mathieson mistakes bounty hunter Fenton Pierce-Smythe for her next contact on the railroad, but can Fenton remain unmoved by the runaways' plight and the woman who guides them? Sounds about right to me **smile**5.      Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? My book is published through SoulMate Publishing.6.      How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? The first draft took me 2 yrs to write.7.      What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? Not many that have been written lately. Most of the books with this setting were popular in the 80's and 90's, so any comparison would be very dated. I can tell you I loved reading Jennifer Blake's early books that she set in Louisianna in the early to mid 1800s, and have been patiently waiting for the market to once again embrace America in the 1800s. It's been a long time coming.
8.      Who or What inspired you to write this book?As I said, the story idea of an Underground Railroad conductor and bounty hunter had been bouncing around in my head for a bit. I was actually working on a different novel where I had put the characters on a trans-Atlantic crossing. They were at dinner and I realized I needed other people to sit at their table, and that was where I met Livvy, fully growed and everything, with Fenton at her side. Admittedly, they were 60 years old at this time, but their characters were already so fully developed and vibrant, it took me no time at all to realize I had my bounty hunter and conductor. They were so alive they nearly took over that book and were like little kids constantly tugging at my sleeve asking “Is it our turn yet?” Honestly, I don't think I could have NOT written this book – they would have nagged me to death..9.      What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?Besides the love story, I think the history is fascinating. It was an amazing time in our country's history and the issue of slavery in all its variants is still compelling now. I tried to faithfully render the treatment the slaves received. Not all were abused and when Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation freeing them, there were a lot who refused to leave their masters who had treated them well, who were afraid and didn't know how to provide for themselves. Of course, there were those who were treated horribly, and I touch on some of that as well. There's also an intriguing cast of supporting characters that I had a lot of fun with, and am currently brewing up a story for Livvy's brother, Bobby. Grandmere and Jean Claude are also tickling my mind – I just hope they're more patient than Livvy and Fenton were. Excerpt One
1860
God, it was awful.
The whiskey was bad enough, and the stench of sour ale, unwashed bodies, and horse hung in the air like a sail in a calm, but this caterwauling could bring a strong man to his knees.
The girl was pretty, Fenton acknowledged. Remarkably so. She had blond ringlets, brown eyes, and a pair of delicate rosy lips pursed in an invitingly kissable shape. But, the noise coming from them was enough to make one wish for a fence full of toms serenading their lady love.
He closed his eyes and raked his fingers through his hair, praying for the singing to stop. Fenton Pierce-Smythe considered himself a patient man, unflappable and usually tolerant of his fellow man. Truly, though, this was testing even his limits.
Temperance songs were far from popular fare. Especially in taverns. Reactions ranged from drunken jeers and catcalls to being ignored. Fenton admired her courage though, both for her attempt to redeem the souls of his fellow patrons, and for her actually singing with that voice. He closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose, wishing he had the guts to put his fingers in his ears instead.
The singing came to an end, praise God. He opened his eyes to see the object of his fantasies heading his way with a coffeepot. As she approached, the color of her eyes became clearer, a deep, rich brown capable of drowning a man as surely as sable invited one’s touch. Many souls had been lost for less. He watched her serve coffee at the next table. Then she was right there, standing by his table.
“Save your soul, sir, and give up the devil’s libation.”
He raised a brow and looked from his glass to her face, then slowly smiled. “Only if you’ll stay with me and keep me from temptation.”
Her blush charmed him. “I-I c-can’t. I must try to save all of you.” Her gaze flitted around the room, unable to land on any one place before returning to his face.
“Most of these poor sods could care less about saving their souls,” he said. “As soon as you leave, the whiskey will flow freely again. Wouldn’t you rather know you’ve saved one soul, than try to redeem many and fail?”
She stood there, speechless, which was a pity, for however horrendous her singing was, she spoke with a voice smooth and deep as velvet.
“Join me?” he asked, rising halfway and pulling a chair out from the table.
“I can’t,” she repeated. “Please, take some coffee instead.” She reached behind her for a chipped cup from a tray her companion held, and then took a step forward. Her foot hooked on the leg of the chair he had been bringing out for her, and she lurched forward. As she tried to catch herself on the back of the chair, the hand holding the coffeepot drooped down, pouring the hot liquid directly onto his lap and thigh.
Fenton yelped and jumped up as the coffee ran over him. His eyes cleared from the mist of pain in time for him to see the horror on her face. She looked as if she were about to cry. “I’m sorry,” he heard himself say, and wondered why he was apologizing. It was his manhood and parental possibilities that were at risk here.
From habit, his hand moved to his pocket for a handkerchief instead of reaching for the kerchief tied around his neck. He was immediately grateful he remembered to leave his monogrammed handkerchief at home. Plucking at the cloth of his rough trousers, he tried to get the warm fabric away from his skin. She was still staring at him, and despite his discomfort, he found himself thinking about the feel of her soft lips on his. Her chin trembled, ending his reverie.
“I’m all right,” he assured her, even though his thigh still hurt like hell, and the rest of him . . .
Her eyes sparkled though her smile was watery. “Are you sure?” she asked.
Well . . . “Truly.” He nodded. What the hell? He didn’t want to make her feel too guilty. He doubted he was permanently impaired.
“I’m so glad,” she said in a rush. “I really thought I had hurt you. Would you like some coffee?” She brandished the pot in his general direction. He quickly side-stepped away from her.
“I think I’ve had all I care for, tonight. Thank you just the same.” He restrained himself from grabbing the pot from her hand before she could come close again.
“You’re not from around here,” she stated, studying him. “Not many sailors come this far away from the Potomac. What are you doing here?”
Ah, well. Yes, what was he doing here? Looking for someone who was running slaves to the north, that’s what, but it was decidedly unhealthy to make that kind of information available. Still, perhaps the girl might know someone. “I was told there was a captain here, looking for crewmen. I hoped I could find him, and sign on.”
Not bad as lies went. In truth, he was looking for a captain, and had been told that one of the “conductors” codenames was Captain. He watched her face intently. Her tears threatened to fall and he handed her the kerchief he’d used to wipe his leg.
Olivia June Mathieson, Livvy to her friends, took the proffered cloth, acutely aware of the paper in her pocket. The note from Dragonslayer was very specific. Was this man the Marauder? He’d given Jedidiah’s codename, but not the password she’d expected.

5 Star Review for Against the Tide by John Hanley

Against The Tide
Title: Against the Tide

    Author: John F Hanley
    Genre: Coming of Age/Love Triangle/WWII
    Subgenre: Action/Adventure

Blurb:

It's July 1939 and even though Poland is trapped between Adolph Hitler and Uncle Joe Stalin, everyone hopes war can be avoided. On the island of Jersey, 18 year old Jack Renouf is forbidden from associating with his own Uncle Fred because of his dangerous Communist views and salacious liaison with his Spanish mistress. Caught in his own velvet trap between outrageous Caroline and secretive Rachel, Jack doesn't pay too much attention to international affairs especially during this glorious summer when, despite the darkening horizon, everyone is in holiday mood. In his final days at school, Jack is focused on breaking the one minute barrier for the 100 yards freestyle so that he can get into the British swimming team for the 1940 Helsinki Olympics. Desperate for those last few seconds, he listens to Miko, an enigmatic Jewish refugee who works as a waiter in a local hotel but claims to have trained the Romanian water polo team for the Berlin Olympics. He persuades Jack to try some new techniques, which he promises will bring him success. But everyone else at the swimming club is suspicious of Miko. An arrogant Dutchman on holiday in the island bullies Jack during a water polo match and his carefully constructed sang froid boils away as he retaliates viciously and has to suffer the disciplinary consequences. Suddenly, Jack is in conflict with everyone and his well-ordered life spins away as he is sucked into a conspiracy involving the island's government, smuggled industrial diamonds, and two ruthless mercenaries seeking to retrieve them at any cost.

My 5 Star Review
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
Against the Tide, a fitting name to this well written Historical Fiction. The coming of age novel will intrigue you, provide you with lots of action, and with a good dose of an interesting love-triangle.Young Jack was tested to the limits as he discovered secrets and spies around every bend as the plot unravels with a good support system that keeps it exciting till the end.The Shakespearean quotes thoughtfully embedded to give you a real feel of what he is experiencing, the intellectual conversations as he learned more about life and the ugly side of it. His disconnection with his father leads him to connect with his uncle, a colorful character that would keep you guessing.I loved the South African character Saul, with his abrupt speech so evident of the Afrikaner men in my country. The lively conversations descriptive as the story unfolds that gives you a real feeling of what the people of Jersey experienced just before the Second World War.  In between life went on as strive and competitions in and out of the pool, keep you wondering where it all would lead. The easy story telling making this book an easy fast paced book but yet filled with adventure and drama for the most avid reader. A book I can recommend since it is well researched and the author's love for swimming comes into play throughout the pages of the book.Caroline was too arrogant and manipulative for my taste, and Jack struggled with his feelings for her as she uses him for her own schemes, and Rachel, soft spoken, pretty but with a class that sets her apart from Caroline. Drawn to each without making a decision to whom his heart belong. The rest of the supporting characters enhanced the story both in the scenes and their personas fitting to the time.Overall a great read and I really liked the cover since it says more than just what you see with the naked eye.

Interview with Ronald Griffin and his new book Blood Stained Lives

Bio:Ronald Griffin is a 31 year old Author who grew up in Georgia and still lives there today. His current writing style includes paranormal fantasy and horror. He has been writing since he was 9 years old when he wrote a Tiny Toons Adventure skit for his class and it was well received. From there, he was absorbed with writing about Superheros but once high school hit, the supernatural started calling him, especially the werewolves. This is where his latest The Blood Lives Saga was born. You can either find him locked away in his writing cave or at his local Cracker Barrel where he supports his fantasy genre reading habit. His Author idol is the husband and wife writing team Ilona Andrews. He has thoroughly enjoyed their magic series novels and feels encouraged that they are from his same state. When not writing, you can find Ronald spending time with his daughters (ages 3 and 9) and his son (age 7). He can be found spending time making precious moments with them and hopefully passing along his writing bug to them.

Author Interview Questions
1. What is your name? Do you use a pen name (if so, why?)?
Ronald Edward Griffin. No I do not
2. Tell me a bit about yourself:
3. What type of genre do you write? Paranormal Fantasy
4. What genre to you personally read? Paranormal Fantasy, Fiction, and Horror

6. What sparked your passion for books and the art of a good story?
My Mom always had a passion for reading and we would always watch movies together as well. We would watch mostly fantasy movies like Legend, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, Krull, and many other movies and I believe growing up with such movies sparked my imagination. I started writing short stories when I was in kindergarten but they were usually based on cartoons. In middle school I started writing my own superhero story. It wasn't until highschool until I started writing supernatural stories. It was then that I started writing some of the elements of this particular novel. Over the years I wrote many short stories and always wanted to write a novel but certain life events caused me to post pone. I have kids now and decided that I want to leave behind something that they could be proud of.
7. Is there a particular book that changed or affected your life in a big way? Not that I recall.
8. Is there a message in your book that you want readers to grasp?
The importance of friends and family. When you have them on your side anything can be done.
9. What challenges have you faced in your writing career? Getting it started. I didn't realize there was so much work in self promoting. I am just glad I have made some wonderful friends along the way.

14. What does your workspace look like? My work place varies, sometimes I write from my bedroom, the dining room where I can look out the sliding glass doors, or the locations that are mentioned in my novel. Sometimes it is good to write from the actual locations.
15. Have you ever had a day when you just wanted to quit? There were times I felt that maybe I wasn't cut out for this but I kept pushing through it and well here I am.
16. What do you do when you’re not writing?working or watching movies. I enjoy a good movie every now and then.
17. What are the most important attributes to remaining sane as a writer? Take time for yourself every now and then. Do not let the writing consume you all the times because it can cause you lots of unnecessary stress and your story could suffer from it.
18. Did you have a moment when you realized you were meant to be a writer? Not really it is just something I have always enjoyed doing in my spare time.
19. What advice would you give to aspiring authors? Don't be afraid to ask friends for help if going at this alone.
20. After this book, what is next? Writing a series of origin novellas building up to the release of the second novel for this series.
21. Do you think the first novel may be a little bit rushed? Do you think you should have put more detail into your characters?
Rushed? No I do not think so i wanted a novel that was gripping and fast paced from start to finish. As for the more detail into my characters. Yes I did leave a lot of questions unanswered and add characters into the story before giving them much of a grand appearance and such. All for a reason. The story I have in mind is much too grand to add into one book. I will be releasing two series branched off of this novel. Blood Stained Lives is the first in the Blood Stained Saga series which will be four novels. I already have the titles, and plots picked for the novels. I will also be releasing a series of Novellas online titled Blood Stained Origins which will focuse on the individual character histories. So expect more back story on every character you have across.

Namon is a young man with a destiny that has haunted him since his birth. His parents were murdered to protect his existence a secret from those that would cause him harm. His godmother Katrina raises him to the best of her ability. Months before his 18th birthday though events occur that force her to reveal his destiny. He is one of the last White Wolves a rare secret race of werewolves blessed with holy powers that enable them to protect humanity from all creatures of darkness. During his journey he must learn to control his abilities and prepare himself for the inevitable confrontation with the vampire responsible for his parents' deaths Cyrus. It is Cyrus's goal to put together an ancient amulet that will enable him to summon the demon dragon Galamythe to carry out his lost love's final wishes.
During his trials Namon did not think he would ever see a light in the shadow of his destiny until he met a mysterious and beautiful vampire called Aluana. She has no memory of her past and even though their union is forbidden there is a strong connection between the two of them that they cannot understand. Can Namon help bring back her memory and they can discover what connects them? More importantly will their love help them both to survive both his destiny and the possible upcoming apocalypse?
This book is filled with action, drama, mystery, and just enough humor to make anyone with a sense of humor chuckle. I look forward to hearing feedback on my story from those who have and will read it.

Guest post with Author Katalina Leon and her book Lord Griffin's Prize

Thank you, for having me as your guest today! I love visiting. Today I’m sharing my latest book “Lord Griffin’s Prize” This book has time travel, enchanted Irish castles, fated love and hunky Irish war chiefs turned griffin-shifters who will do anything to protect their mate. This book was so much fun to write. Lord Griffin’s Prize is part of a new multi-author paranormal book series from Ellora’s Cave called “Emerald Isle Fantasies”. I’m very proud of all the authors and books in this series. The Emerald Isle Fantasies collaboration with the other authors was easy and came naturally. I’ve made a lot of good friends in the group. The project was started almost eighteen months ago. We were all Ellora’s Cave authors who were reassigned to a new editor based in Ireland. Our editor’s husband worked in the hospitality industry at a real Irish castle turned hotel. Pictures of his workplace were posted and the “Oohing and Ahhing” started immediately. Brainstorming to create our own fictitious castle filled with paranormal Irish high jinx and lots of unsuspecting guests was the next logical step.
Here’s the Emerald Isle Fantasies Blurb:When guests check into the historic Castle Tullamore Hotel they expect bucolic scenery and luxurious service. What they don't anticipate is along with the 5 star accommodations they'll also get drawn into lots of otherworldly Irish mischief and erotic enchantment.
At Castle Tullamore there are ghostly lovers, griffin-shifters, vampires, selkies, witches and werewolves waiting to lure the lonely and the adventurous into forbidden realms. The castle grounds are riddled with time portals where the unwitting can experience vivid adventures in other timelines. For the most part the hotel appears to be just a lovely Irish castle until things get wild and reality drops from underfoot like a swinging trapdoor.
My contribution to the Emerald Isle Fantasies is “Lord Griffin’s Prize” and of course includes a sexy griffin-shifter who hasn’t been a man since 1332 AD…
Lord Griffin’s PrizeKatalina Leon
Part of the Emerald Isles Fantasies seriesTullamore Castle Ireland is an enchanted place where the unexpected happens. Phantom lovers materialize in haunted beds and a lonely griffin patrols the ramparts waiting to reclaim its mate. And that’s just the beginning.
For the adventure of a lifetime Maeve de’Burgo visits Tullamore to study genealogy. Through a magical act and time travel she becomes embroiled in a dangerous medieval romance and the unfinished life of her ancestor. Maeve gets thrown back in time to be captured, ravished and cherished as a war chief’s prize.
Ronan O’Griofa is a griffin-shifter, the most loyal of creatures. He’s been trapped in limbo as the avenging guardian of Tullamore since 1332 AD and longs to be free. When the soul of his wife returns to the castle he’s granted the privilege of becoming a man for one day to be her lover, win her heart and remind Maeve of a bond strong enough to last an eternity.

I chose to write a story about a griffin-shifter because griffins have always had a special place in my heart. According to 9th century Irish author Stephen Scotus, griffins mate for life and are “highly monogamous.” If a mate dies the other will never re-mate, and that formed the basis of my story. Griffins rule both air and land with justice and loyalty. So you see its hard to not love a griffin! A few years ago, as an anniversary gift, my husband gave me a beautiful bronze casting of a griffin to place next to my writing desk. The Griffin is there as a symbol of eternal love and loyalty. My husband’s a griffin at heart; he’s protective, loyal and he never turns his back on his responsibilities. I brought as much of that sentiment as I possibly could to “Lord Griffin’s Prize.”I loved writing my heroine Maeve dé Burgo. She’s basically a strong woman who’s recovering from a humiliating divorce. She’s a little fragile when she first arrives at Tullamore, but no fool. She’s determined to avoid attractive men and dreads having to endure another heartbreak. While researching a distant ancestor she was named for, Maeve is confronted by the spirit of her long lost soul mate—a medieval Irish war chief named Ronan. Maeve’s never meet a man like this in the modern world and she’s swept away by him. The adventure demands she be brave and take a whopping big leap of faith, and a few leaps through time as well.I completely fell in love with Ronan. He’s all heart and self-sacrifice. He epitomizes all that’s good about griffins. In the end his loyalty to a good cause earns him a little justice. He’s been trapped in the form of a griffin for seven hundred years, but when Maeve’s soul returns to Tullamore he’s allowed one day, from sun up to sun down to take the form of man and win her heart. I absolutely loved writing these two characters and giving them a happily ever after.
Here’s an exclusive excerpt from “Lord Griffin’s Prize”
Chapter Three:
(In scenes before this excerpt Maeve has had a hard night at Castle Tullamore. She’s jetlagged and fallen in lust with a medieval portrait of Lord O’Griofa. She’s traveled back in time to a medieval castle under siege, and had a phantom named Ronan appear in her bed and make love to her. A real griffin has been scuffling around in her hotel suite. She needs coffee and moment of sanity and goes downstairs to one of the castle’s dining rooms but more strangeness awaits her. A contemporary ancestor of Lord O’Griofa, a Professor O’Griofa, wants to give her a tour of the castle and the resemblance to the original Lord O’Griofa is uncanny.)

…Maeve gulped an anxious breath and gazed at the professor, now realizing that his resemblance to the portrait was beyond striking—it was eerie. She’d allowed a modern haircut and clothing to distract her from the facts. Where was the kindly old silver-tinged professor with dim hearing and a moth- nibbled sweater she’d been expecting? This guy appeared to be just a few years older than her, with a powerful build as sleek as a tiger’s. “You’re Professor O’Griofa?”“Yes I am.” He beamed as he stepped closer. “I’m delighted to meet a dé Burgo under such pleasant circumstances. The castle’s not aflame and no one’s been stabbed in the gut. I hope matters will remain civil between us.” He flashed another brilliant smile that brought a twinkle to his eyes. “Please join me for breakfast. I’d like to know what you’re interested in learning about Tullamore.”She stood and approached him on shaky legs. As she drew closer she saw there was a faint scar on his chin, just like in the portrait. She suspected that a detail like that couldn’t be coincidence and wondered if she had been drawn into an elaborate hoax. The professor was just too attractive to not be a danger to her bruised heart. She didn’t trust him or herself. “I want to be up front with you. I had a modest financial arrangement with Professor Burke. I’m told you are the foremost expert on Castle Tullamore. I’m not wealthy and I’m not sure I can afford to properly compensate you for your time. Also I’m not—”He raised his palm in anticipation. “I don’t mean to sound brusque but I am wealthy and I don’t require compensation. I’ve spent my life studying the long history and intricacies of Castle Tullamore. This castle is my soul’s home. I’d be happy to share what I know with you, so long as you’re not bored by me. Besides, I’d be here anyway on personal business. I’m writing a book. What sort of information interests you?”“Genealogy. As you already know, I’m a dé Burgo and I have a particular ancestor I want to focus on.”“You want to know more about dé Burgo history to plot a family tree?”Her face heated. “Actually I plan to write a book too.”He laughed. “Oh dear, the dé Burgo and the O’Griofa competition is back in force. Please tell me you’re not planning to pen a witty yet fully comprehensive tome on medieval battle craft, because that’s my forte.”“No.” She shook her head. “There’s been an idea in the back of my mind for quite some time. You might think it’s fluff. It’s a medieval romance, with an emphasis on romance, so hardly anyone will get bludgeoned or impaled on a pike.”“Then it’s not a very accurate book.” His brow shot upward as he picked up the silver pot and poured steaming coffee into her white porcelain cup. “Life was horrible back then, completely wretched. Everyone’s life hung by a thread. Death pounced on victims and slaughtered them with abscessed teeth as easily as it claimed souls on the battlefield with a sword. Bleak times indeed. Everyone walked around groaning in misery with frowns on their faces. Hardly the stuff of romance.”She drew a tense breath. “Yet those same conditions give birth to all western ideals of nobility and courtly manners. Even in the worst of times people sought God, love and tried to see the beauty in life. That’s an achievement that counts for something.”A sarcastic grin curled his lip as he poured himself a cup of coffee. “There was nothing close to what you’d consider courtly manners in medieval Ireland. Trust me on that. ‘Courtly’ and ‘manners’ are two words that shouldn’t even be applied to the thirteenth-century Norman dé Burgo clan. I’m just warning you now, so you won’t be disillusioned later. The dé Burgos were a rough, rude, churlish lot.” He glanced sideways at her. “With a few outstanding exceptions.”She picked up a porcelain pitcher and poured a generous amount of cream into her coffee. “There must have been something worthwhile about those times, because you’ve devoted your life to studying them and they’re certainly burned deep into the collective psyche of the western world. Who doesn’t love a tale of knights, ladies and fated love?”“You’re right.” He picked up a strawberry straight from the bowl with his fingers instead of using the dainty silver tongs Áine had provided. The juicy berry was consumed with blissful relish. “My God, that was tasty. I could go for another.” He licked the tips of his fingers one by one, locked his languorous gaze onto hers and allowed it to blaze lusty hot.She gasped that he would make his thoughts so obvious. She started asking silent and tortured questions about why a man like him would be interested in her. Maybe he could smell the scent of rebound on her, the way sharks sniffed blood in the water? He was gorgeous, intellectual and wealthy—if he had told the truth. She was freckled, chubby and average, coupled with a little more average. It would take an act of utter enchantment for them to make sense as a pair. Even casually it made no sense. He leaned over the table and offered his hand in greeting. “I haven’t introduced myself. My name is—”With a rush, she knew with certainty what he would say. The tiny hairs stood on the back of her neck. “Ronan?”“Yes.” He smiled. “Did Áine tell you?”She reached forward and grasped his hand. It was warm, calloused and comforting. She thought it odd that it felt perfectly safe to take his hand and even hold on to it for a lingering moment. “My name is Maeve.”“You look like a Maeve. You know the name Maeve means ‘intoxicating’, don’t you?” He reached for her free hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. The pad of his thumb traced a lazy circle against her palm. “Does anyone call you Maeveen?”He looked at her with possessive interest as if she were some choice item to attain. Her heart went crazy, shouting “hooray” for flattery from a handsome man, but it also screamed vague warnings to practice caution at the same time. She got so flustered by the emotional push and pull that she almost snatched her hands back and leaped away from the table. Ronan made her as nervous as hell. Her gaze dipped to the floor as she considered sharing the dreadful news that she was fresh out of a divorce and not up for flirting or anything fun, but decided to keep her mouth shut on that dismal subject. “No one has ever called me Maeveen.”“Maeveen.” Ronan brought her fingers to his lips, kissed them and released her hand. “Would you spend the day with me? I would love your company and you can tell me how dull I am when I go on and on about this musty old castle.”She laughed. “If I were you, I wouldn’t let Áine hear you say Tullamore is a musty old castle. She’s quite proud, and rightly so.”“Áine and I are old friends and she knows how much this castle means to me.” Ronan’s gaze sharpened. “So let me share some of its history with you.”(They go off together to tour the castle grounds but Tullamore is filled with enchanted time-portals and magical places. Ronan is intent on stalking his claim on Maeve. Beyond this point poor Maeve gets more than she bargained for.)

Excerpt One
Maeve placed a gloved hand on the golden door handle of the Tullamore Castle Hotel and pushed. The glass door resisted against the vacuum of a blustery gust. The short but stormy walk from the cab to the curb had left rain sheeting from her umbrella and tall black boots.
She bore down, gave the door a firm shove and watched in awe as it swung open onto a timeless realm entrenched in equal parts modern luxury and dour medieval grit. Above the entrance a time-ravaged, iron-studded medieval shield bearing the image of a griffin held a place of honor between two Victorian-era crystal sconces, punctuating the contrast of a far-reaching past.
Maeve was too tired to care that she was tracking water across the patterned carpet as she ambled into the elegant front lobby dragging a lopsided piece of rolling luggage. For the past twenty-four hours she’d roamed airports, engaged in endless desperate bargaining with airline personnel to exchange tickets, hunted down cabs and texted anyoneThe challenging journey from the US to Ireland had left her weary to the bone. Everything that could go wrong had. As she approached the front desk there was little wonder in her mind why the word “travel” had its roots in the original travail, which literally meant torture.
An attentive middle-aged woman, with red hair swept away from her stark face, stepped from behind the carved baroque counter to greet her. “You must be Maeve Clark. We received your message. I’m so sorry you’ve had such a difficult time getting here.” The woman reached for Maeve’s luggage. “Let’s get you signed in so you can rest.”
The woman glanced out the front entrance as the cab that had brought Maeve turned and drove away in the pouring rain. “I don’t see anyone else out there. Is Mr. Clark with you?”
“What time is it?” Maeve fought the impulse to rub her eyes with the heels of her hands and grind what little mascara still clung to her lashes onto her cheeks.
The woman smoothed the lapels of her prim navy suit. “It’s 1:11 a.m.”
“Oh god. I’m so disoriented I thought it was earlier. By the way, I’m no longer Maeve Clark. I made the reservations last year before I divorced. Didn’t I update you on the name change?”
The woman’s gaze lingered on the prominent wedding ring on Maeve’s left hand. “No name change was mentioned, but we have a beautiful room waiting and we’re pleased to have you visit with us, Miss...?”
“Maeve dé Burgo.”
The woman looked elated. “You’re a dé Burgo? Of course, now it all makes sense! Oh this is wonderful, and so appropriate. I’m certain you are aware that the ancestral founder of Tullamore Castle was Lord dé Burgo?” The woman clasped Maeve’s hand. “My name is Áine Byrne. I’m the current owner of Tullamore Castle and if I’m not mistaken, you and I are distant relations.”
“You’re the castle owner? I’m so happy to meet you, Miss Byrne.”
“Call me Áine. I’m simply thrilled to have a dé Burgo under our eaves again!”
Maeve was dumbfounded by the woman’s intense enthusiasm for her maiden name. “I’m surprised to see you working the front desk at this hour.”
“I’m a hands-on owner and a notorious insomniac. Night is when interesting things happen at Tullamore. I like seeing everything and everyone who comes through the front entrance. Hospitality is my business and I enjoy being hospitable.”

Excerpt
He nodded, apparently satisfied with her explanation, and reached for a slice of soft white cheese, surprising her by bringing it to her lips.
Elienor’s brows lifted. “You would feed me?” she asked, resisting the urge to snatch it whole into her mouth—and bite off his fingers in the process.
Alarik’s brow rose at her question. Retrieving the cheese, he tore off a modest bite for himself, popping it in his mouth. “Unless, of course, you’re not hungry?”
Elienor was, but she wasn’t about to beg for her supper. Let him eat it all if he would. She watched him chew, fascinated by the strength in his jaw... his lips... the way they appeared... so soft... and yet so hard. Her fingers went to her own lips, her brows drawing together, and then catching herself, she startled.
Forsooth, what did he want of her? That she would forget all that had passed between them in the space of an afternoon? Hardly possible.
Seeing her chin jut forward stubbornly, Alarik decided to cease with the jesting lest she starve over her stubbornness—he had not missed the confusion in her face when she’d watched him eat. The way she’d touched her own lips as she’d contemplated his sent talons of desire clawing through him. He held the cheese out once more. “A peace offering,” he suggested.
“Peace?” Elienor retorted. “Betwixt us?” Just to make certain there was no confusion as to whom she meant, she gestured between the two of them, her expression clearly disbelieving.
“Aye. I would say it was in your best interest,” he apprised.
“Mine? Since when do you trouble yourself with my best interest, my lord?”
My lord.
Not my lord Viking?
Alarik grinned, feeling a small victory at the concession.
His pewter-gray eyes assessed her and a quiver swept down Elienor’s spine, though she managed an indifferent shrug though she was anything but unaffected. He had a way of looking at her that disconcerted at best. He offered the cheese again and she eyed the morsel malevolently.
“You feed all your captives this way?”
“All?” His gaze dropped from her eyes to her shoulders, to the cheese... or at least Elienor assumed it was the cheese. Something about the hunger in his eyes seemed more than just a bit carnal. “No.”
She crossed her arms, rubbing them as though to erase the gooseflesh that prickled her, and sensing that her stomach was about to betray her again, she indignantly swiped the cheese from his fingers and fought the urge to shove the tiny bite into her mouth.
“The truth is, Elienor, I keep no thralls.”
“Thralls?” Involuntarily her eyes returned to his lips. As she stared something fluttered deep within the pit of her belly. His eyes glittered with amusement. “In your tongue… slaves.” “I see,” Elienor said stiffly, her gaze affixed to his face as she nibbled from the cheese in her hand. “So then, what, pray tell, am I?” Alarik’s half-grin faded, for he found himself suddenly at a loss. What was she, indeed?

My 5 Star Review
I received this book from the touring host for an honest review.
Very well written Historical, and oh so sizzling Romance story. It started of very quickly with an immediate battle at hand, when Alerik a Viking Lard and his men attacked The Count Philippe who under false pretenses aided him before, and half of Alerik’s men were killed, so this was definitely a revenge war on the Count. In this battle, the only one that was left is Elienor who was suppose to betrothed the Count. She was taken captive, and they went back to Alerik’s Norse country, the whole story developed further as they spend time on the open seas. We spend time with Elienor as she struggles to make sense of what is happening to her and her treacherous body. She had an inner struggle because she was a believer and the Vikings served other gods. The story line was very good it is a fast pace. An enjoyable book to read as you start it draws you in keeping your attention as things develop. Never really sure what the outcome will be for Elienor and Alerik until the last few chapters. Well done Tanya, as always I was not disappointed.

My 5 Star review
I received the book from the touring host for an honest review.
This book was all that it promised to be, and I enjoyed every moment of it. This is a must read for every woman that has difficulty with understanding a man and getting the ultimate goal. A soul mate, friend and ultimately a life partner. With biblical principles that guide you in the form of Doc Reed to first of all "Love yourself first."You need to understand how your own head, heart and body works before you can step into the world of relationships and the many challenges it brings. And to understand men and how they think is well described with colorful illustrations, it will remove the misconceptions that there is and make you aware of the "dangers" and "traps" in relationships. I am a firm believer in this myself, making sure my daughters knew whom they were before they get serious with a man. Doc Reeds input, dedication and examples using the Word of God as a guide shows a woman what is her worth and value and how she needs to see herself. His life choices in showing his own daughters the role of a man was priceless. This is not a preachy book that you will find in normal Christian writing, but a tongue in the chick book with relevant struggles shown in the light of the Word. The choice at the end is still yours. I love the three friends, each holding their own, but yet steps in the trap of failed relationships time and again. Their struggles to learn that it is okay to hold back and not give it all away on the first date was emphasized throughout the book. Fast paced, quirky and well written the author draws you into their lives, becomes engross with their choices and remain in control so that the emotional side of her not set her on a roller coaster path. Although the book ended in a cliff hanger I felt that the message came crisp and clear not leaving me hanging, but I would love to read the rest of the three's lives as they continue on the journey of self discovery. As one person said this book is the black equivalent of Sex and the City, I must agree. It answers the difficult questions in an interesting every day setting as the plot unfolds and the story told.
