So, You’re Angry at God.  Now What?
Don’t you ever be mad at God, the preacher said!  Okay, yeah, God is perfect and Holy - so that’s logical, right?  But people won’t admit they’re angry!
I don’t think anyone really wants to be mad at God.  Most of us just don’t know what to do when the anger comes.  I’ve discovered some important keys in this arena.  They appear in my book, “The OTHER Jesus?” Let me share some of them.
DestinationPicture a guy who’s in a strange city.  He has a map but doesn’t know where he is.  So, how can he get where he wants to go?  He can’t!  The first step, then, is to say, “Hey, right or wrong, I am angry!  That’s a good start.
Why Am I Angry? Now I have to ask myself, why am I angry?  Did God do something terrible or are there other factors?
The Hidden TruthI get angry at God when I think HE was the one who did something bad.  I can get angry when I think God’s personality is vengeful.  In short - when I see God as someone He is not.
Books/MediaSo many things in this world paint God as mean spirited.  No wonder so many people shake their fist at Him.  Books we read; movies we watch and music we hear can all lead us to believe God is not on our side.
The Church?Yep, those wonderful stained glass windows can be a negative influence.  People & Leaders in the church; Pictures hung in the entry way; statues and figures on the walls.  All these can show us a Jesus that is different than the real one.
DeceiverDon’t ever discount Satan when it comes to degrading the image of God.  He will parade like an angel and strike confusion into the deepest part of your heart.  The God of the Bible is much different than Satan advertises.
LanguageLanguage and culture are large barriers to understanding the God of the Bible.  We have good translations, but we still cannot see Jesus the same way the disciples did.  And, when we try to share the good news of Jesus, words are not adequate.
Bottom LineWe are always experiencing erosion of God’s image. Just like copying something many times results in degraded results, so our memory of God degrades with time.  To make good copies, we go back to the original.  To make sure we have the right image of God, we go back to the source; explore God’s Word and talk with Him, often.  It’s the only way!

Make Me Happy – or ELSE!
Can people get bratty about their happiness?  I sure can.  I guess our western culture has helped enable a sense of entitlement.  A right to pursue happiness is even built into our country’s founding documents.
Finding happiness is not nearly as easy as pursuing it, right?   And we all know when people pursue the wrong avenues, happiness is never found.  So what are the right avenues?  My second book, “Make Me Happy” explores the idea of happiness entitlement and all the main avenues - good and bad.
Let me share a little behind-the-cover insight into Make Me Happy:
Seems like we all try to find happiness in someone else:  the perfect mate; our idolized children; or even a best friend.  What puzzles me is – I’ve never seen anyone totally happy, all the time, no matter who they were with.
Job, in the Bible seemed to have something different in his heart.  He lost his spouse, money and children, yet he was able to keep a certain level of self-worth throughout the whole ordeal.  He wasn’t ecstatic about what was happening but he refused to take his attention away from the one who made him deeply happy – God.  Quite a lesson.
Happiness is not automatically granted when we have a certain level of wealth or when we have a great mate.  So how does happiness come?  Ah, now that’s the right question!
No matter how happiness comes to a person, one question is important:  Is happiness worth pursuing?  I believe so.  Without any happiness, we despair and sometimes even give up on life.
One thing seems clear to me, in God’s Word: God’s primary concern is not our day to day happiness.  He does care about us and about how we feel, but there are higher priorities in his mind than our whimsical and fickle emotions.  When the larger, more important things are watched over, God knows there is a much better chance for happiness in our lives; our eternal lives, as well.
Satan, on the other hand, is concerned with our need for happiness.  He uses that need against us.  He tries to get us so focused on our own happiness that we destroy other people’s happiness.
There’s also a huge difference between happiness, joy, contentment and fulfillment.  Sometimes, when we say we’re unhappy, it’s because we are missing one of those other elements.  I think it’s important to see those differences.  It can save us from bad roads.
Happiness seems to come to us in measured amounts.  What many people miss is this:  Happiness can be planned.  I wonder why something that we want so much is left to chance.  If we want a future of happiness, perhaps planning for it is a better approach to life.

Danger!  Unseen Things “I’m not worried about things I can’t see. I’ll stay in the “real” world,” He said.  But, is that smart?  What if things we can’t see CAN hurt us?
My latest book, “The Veil” deals with these unseen things – good and evil.  We all need to know who is hiding things and what is behind those dense curtains.  Is everything hidden, evil?  Are masked things innocent?  When is it appropriate to pierce those veils or bring them down?  Let’s me share some ideas with you.
“The Veil” lays out many of those things that we cannot see.  Some things are not commonly known.  I think it’s important to observe this famous phrase: To be forewarned is to be forearmed.  Being aware of the hidden is vital to self-protection.
God keeps many things from human beings.  His reasons are pure and He veils things to protect us. Can we all see angels?  We know they do very good work and are always busy, but we are not supposed to see them or their operations.  God also, in his mercy, does not allow us to see all the evil activity around us.
Satan masks things also, but his intentions are anything but pure.  He schemes, deceives and hides things to destroy.  He tries to hide all that is truly good.  Demons work to alter the image of the pure in heart.
Mankind likes to hide things too.  I’ve seen people lie, plot and attempt to damage other humans – sometimes in the name of what they call good.  When it suits us, we all seem to cover up things we don’t want others to see.  Sometimes that act can be for a good cause and sometimes it can be just plain devious.
There are so many other things that are veiled: Truth, Beauty and Ugliness.  We don’t even know how to define truth and everyone thinks they know what real truth is.  God only knows what is true.  Beauty is masked, painted on and misrepresented in every culture.  Ugliness can be used to manipulate others as much as beauty – so it also is not always what it appears on the surface.
Money, Power?  These bring more confusion and misdirection that almost anything else.  More destruction has occurred from these sources than probably any other single source.  What a person really is, becomes terribly hidden once they are perceived as powerful or famous.
Of course the ultimate veil is Death.  No one can clearly see behind that curtain.  God has designed this area to remain opaque.  It might be frustrating but this is one area we need to leave alone and trust our creator.
I could not discuss veils for long without mentioning my own deep struggle with unseen things.  I fought a terrible battle with evil forces that were not visual.  They were very real and it took 14 years of my life to overcome them.

5 Ways to Deal with Your Anger (toward God)
Yes, I’ve been angry at God.  I haven’t met a person who hasn’t been – at one time or another.  Sad thing is – I’ve met few people who knew what to do with that anger – except bury it.
My book “The OTHER Jesus?” explores the sources of that anger.  It gives deep reasons why people end up hating God.  It also helps the reader see false images of God and come to a better, closer relationship with God.
The first step to understanding a “God-Hate” is to admit it.  You may want to leave that place of anger and go to a better place, yet have no idea how to get there.  Like a person with a map, you can’t get to your destination until you first figure out where you are, right now.
The second step is to realize that it’s probably not your fault.  So much guilt has been poured across the pulpit as well as across the pew, when it comes to being angry with God.  The truth is there are many outside sources that feed your anger.  Let’s explore some obvious ones.
The third step is seeing that our image of God is tainted by so many sources. From the time we are born, everyone wants to tell us and show us what God is like. Many of those sources are inaccurate and some are absolutely wrong.  Recognizing how deeply that has affected our relationship with God is vital to anger recovery.
The fourth step is to recognize that the church, books, music, movies and even languages can serve to form a false image of God.
·         Churches can teach twisted views of God and display pictures that don’t look anything like the real Jesus.  ·         Books, music and movies can tell stories that are different than what the Bible says and can paint an image of Christ that is very different from His true character.  ·         Languages can be a barrier when it comes to concepts that the Bible’s writers were trying to convey.  Sometimes translations can be misleading.
The fifth step is to come face to face with an evil force called Satan that works constantly to damage God’s reputation.  Never underestimate the deception of the enemy and his ability to get you thinking badly toward a very good God.
Finally: If you are experiencing anger toward God, maybe “The OTHER Jesus?” can help you sort out your feelings and the sources of your anger.  Maybe you too can come to the place where you realize you have been serving the wrong Jesus – the one in your mind, rather than the one in the Bible.  It could permanently change your relationship with God.  It changed mine.

Knock, Knock by Dale Mayer, Interview, Excerpt and my 5 Star review

Knock, Knock (Psychic Visions #5)by Dale MayerContemporary Paranormal Romantic SuspenseCategories: Mystery/ThrillerPublisher: Valley PublishingRelease Date: August 3, 2013Heat Level: SteamyLength: 330 pages
Available at:Amazon: B&N: / Kobo:
Description: There’s no best-by date for revenge.
Wealthy and beautiful Shay Lassiter runs a prestigious foundation, but her connections and resources were worthless when her fiancé tried to murder her. Now, she’s guarding her heart and using her knack for reading people’s intentions – both good and evil – to guide her. But when the foundation’s clients start dying, she must turn to the new man in her life…one who’s giving her mixed signals.
Computer specialist and ex-cop Roman Chandler has a secret. It involves Shay and could ruin the fragile relationship he’s building with her. Though he can’t tell her the truth, he needs to convince her to trust him. He fears that whoever is behind this is about to turn his vengeance on Shay…
And vengeance can be deadly.
Warning: This title is intended for readers over the age of 18 as it contains adult sexual situations and/or adult language, and may be considered offensive to some readers.
Excerpt:Under Roman's midnight blue gaze, Shay's stomach churned with unanswered questions and delight. Of course he'd seen pictures of her. A quick Google search would have offered many pages to study. She wanted to take a longer look at his energy, but thought she’d better save her strength for when a deeper reading might be needed.
A strange sound had her turning to face Bernice.
Bernice opened her mouth to speak when she suddenly stopped, an odd look on her face. Her breath sucked in so loudly, Shay leaned closer in concern. "Bernice? What's the matter?"

Shay studied her old friend, but Bernice's face had turned ashen, her eyes locked on something behind Shay’s shoulder. Shay spun around, but there didn't appear to be anything or anyone there. In fact, the only thing behind her was a wall. A blank wall.
"Bernice, talk to me. You're scaring me."
Bernice's breathing appeared halted, her features frozen.
Shay leaned closer.
Jesus, she must be having a stroke. "We'll get someone here to help you. Just please tell me what's wrong."
Bernice's mouth worked. Still no sound came out."
Roman bent to peer into Bernice's face. "I'll get help." Roman took off.
Shay didn't bother to watch him go, her gaze was locked on poor Bernice. As Shay raised her hand to call for help, her arm was grabbed. She stared, surprised to see Bernice's bronzed nails cutting into her soft skin.
"Bernice?" Shay peered inside her friend's dark, blind eyes. "Hang on. Help is coming."
Somewhere behind her, she could hear rapidly approaching footsteps. Thank God.
Shay stared into Bernice's blank, black and bottomless eyes, and Bernice stared back. Shay's heart squeezed in fear. "Bernice, damn it, are you in there? Please answer me."
Shay willed Bernice's eyes to return to normal. Willed them to blink. To move. To do something.
Then something happened. Inside, deep inside, Bernice blinked. A clear movement that Shay could see and understand.
Except for one thing.
On the surface, Bernice's eyelids never moved.

Interview Questions:
1.      Where did the idea come from for the book?A nightmare? Actually it's one of several ideas that came to me while writing other books in this series.2.      What genre does your book fall under? It's a romantic paranormal suspense!3.      What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? There’s no best-by date for revenge. 4.      Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?Self-published at this point.5.      How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?A month! Then that is fairly typical for me. J6.      What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? The rest of the series! 7.      Who or What inspired you to write this book? This is the 5th in the series, and honestly the wonderful emails and fan letters that I've received from readers regarding the other books in the series have inspired me to keep going.8.      What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?      The book is a real page turner, has psychic phenomenon throughout, a wonderful love interest, and a surprise ending! J   My 5 Star Review

I have received the book from the touring host for an honest review. This is my fourth book for the author and my first adult book from her, and she did not disappoint. The plot was well layered with suspense as people started to die for no apparent reason other than natural causes. The characters were interesting and believable as the story unfolds, and soon you are glued to the pages as you learn more about the psyche world and the dangers it can cause. As with everything in life, this too can be used for good or evil, with revenge the main subject of the plot.We meet Shay Lassiter and her ghost pet Morris right from the start, trapped in a dangerous situation with her fiancé Darren. At the end, this man left her vulnerable and with many trust issues, and it took her a year to get over his unnatural death. Vowing to never trust again. We meet Roman Chandler, trusted friend on mails, but when they met in person, it was a whole different story. Secrets and trust the central theme between the two as they found themselves in the midst of strange deaths and even stranger circumstances. Trying to figure out the why’s and how’s.Her good friend Stefan Kronos, is the person that keeps her grounded, allowing her to explore more of her feelings towards Roman, and her own abilities as a psyche. He was her voice of reason, strong, capable and always willing to help. The friendship beautifully illustrated throughout the book.Pappy or Charles, beloved grandfather and friend, became a play ball in the hands of our killer. His quiet persona and support a continuous strength in her life. He was her past and present all wrapped up in one. His love for Bernice is a touching story of love that never dies, even after death.Bernice, beloved friend, surrogate mother and mentor died in her arms, when her last breath was relinquished Shay saw something in her eyes that startled her, and she knew she that this was not a typical killer they were dealing with. But to proof it was where all the trouble begins. The rest of the supporting characters were well defined, unique in their own roles as the various scenes played out. With psyche abilities, astral projection and becoming one with the universe, it was interesting that the essences of the story were always “Love conquers all.” A great read, well written with enough passion to fill the pages as the killer sow havoc in this woman’s life and her blooming love for a man she hope she can trust more than life itself. Suspense filled with enough drama to keep the pages turning as Shay and Roman find each other.Who was the killer? Well it came as a huge surprise, I will recommend buying the book, and you will know. J

Excerpt
The act ended with Hyde grabbing hold of a scantily dressed Lucy and pulling her into his arms. Then the lights on the stage were extinguished, and the silent crowd suddenly burst into thunderous applause—even some of the cast was clapping. Rebecca couldn’t help but notice Steve was watching the fanfare with a frown, especially when Fernando, dressed for the next scene as the butler, clapped Justyn on the back with undisguised approval and pride. Rebecca had the distinct feeling Steve was plotting something sinister and definitely Hyde-worthy.From that point on, Justyn scarcely had a moment out of the spotlight. Rebecca didn’t even get a chance to tell him how fabulous he was. It felt as though the show had only begun when Rebecca found herself decked out in the splendid Victorian wedding gown signaling the final act was about to begin. The dress came complete with realistic bell sleeves, an excessive bustle, and a long, flowing trail embroidered with delicate lace. The elaborate wardrobes and happy wedding guests gave the audience the illusion that it might be a happy ending after all, but for Dr. Jekyll and Emma, that wasn’t meant to be. As soon as the reverend began to recite the vows, Hyde made his final deadly appearance. At the beginning of the scene, it was sweet and romantic. Justyn started out holding her hand, looking happy, almost ecstatic to be with his true love. Then he suddenly started to sway. Tom, in his role of John, the best man, tried to steady him, but there wasn’t anything he could do to stop the transformation. Dr. Jekyll doubles over in agony and tries to run before Emma can see him change into a monster. Justyn was supposed to head toward the back of the stage where Rebecca would pursue him and eventually become Hyde’s captive. But they should have known no opening night could ever go exactly as planned, especially when it was obvious at least half the cast was out to get them.Just as Justyn stumbled across the stage, Steve, who was blending in with the other guests on the sidelines, stuck out his foot. It was doubtful anyone else observed the sabotage, aside from Petya, who was smirking at her husband’s side. But Rebecca was at the perfect vantage point to see the intentional attack. Unfortunately, Justyn was so wrapped up in the role he didn’t notice the danger, especially since his loose hair was dangling in front of his eyes. Before Rebecca could cry out a warning, Justyn’s foot was caught in the snare. With a grunt, he tumbled off the side of the stage. Even over the background music and the gasps from the audience, Rebecca heard the loud thump as he hit the ground. She raised her hands to her mouth and couldn’t help but scream.

Blog Tour for "Bethlehem's Baby" by Sheila Deeth plus Review from my 4 year old Grandson

Ten Things you May not know about Bethlehem’s BabyIf you’ve been following this blog tour you probably know Bethlehem’s Baby is the sixth in the Five Minute Bible StoryTMSeries, by Sheila Deeth, published by Cape Arago Press. You may even know it’s the first New Testament entry in the series, and the first to be released on Smashwords—just think, now you can read five-minute Bible stories on Nooks and Kobos as well as computers and kindles. You’ve probably guessed Bethlehem’s Baby’s got something to do with Bethlehem and Christmas too. But here are ten things you may not know about the book:          1.       The title contains two words because all the other books in the series have two-word titles. After Genesis People, Exodus Tales and Joshua’s Journey, my publisher suggested Psalm Stories for the stories based on psalms. I liked the alliteration, so I tried to repeat it with Bethlehem’s Baby.      2.       I was going to write Battling Judges next (based on the book of Judges), but my publisher thought it was time I tried my hand at the New Testament. I think he was right—it’s made an enjoyable change of pace for me, and I loved doing the extra research.      3.       I started writing five-minute Bible stories in college after reading Tolkein’s Silmarillion, but they’ve been through lots of iterations since then.      4.       The stories take five minutes to read aloud because that’s how long we were given in church for children’s sermons. It seems to fit well with the attention span of fidgeting kids gathered I hope you’re enjoying the tour, and I hope you’re enjoying the book. Don’t forget to look for more in the series, already published and coming soon...

Bethlehem’s Baby:Meet the Emperor Augustus’s advisors, the quiet research student helping wise men study stars, the shepherd whose granddad keeps complaining, an Egyptian fisherboy, a Roman soldier, and more in this set of 40 5-minute read-aloud stories based around the events of the Christ Child’s birth in Bethlehem.

Today I have special reviewers on my blog, and I want to give them a warm welcome. My daughter Arline, and her son Nathan. Nathan is 4 years old, and agreed to do a review for us. When Sheila asked me to be part of her tour, I told her that I was swamped under work, but that if she will not mind that they will do it for me. She agreed immediately. Here are their thoughts of this great Series.
My 5 Star Review
I have received this book from the author for an honest review.
A great book with new insight into some of the stories I always wondered about.  Nathan loved the stories, although some words were above his understanding, and it took time to explain it to him. I will recommend this book for children from 5 and up, for greater interaction and feedback with and from the child. He enjoyed the quick 5 minutes read and was very inquisitive. Well written and informative the stories were quick and well researched. It is a book I can recommend to parents with small children, and of course for grown-ups. A great way to read the Bible and teach them about the Love of the Father, and the greatest gift He could give us, His Son.Thanks for the opportunity to review this book.

Guest Post by Emma:My  experience with having kids, homeschooling and finding the time to write. As a homeschooling mother of five, I grab any time I can to write. If I am not doing stuff for my kids, or my pets, or my husband (rare!) I am either writing or reading. So, it's hard to quantify how many hours I actually get to write but it could be as often as two-three hours a day to as little as two hours a week!As a busy mom I feel it's important to carve out a small piece in my life for personal growth. To me being organized is the key. When life is a chaos it's hard to be organized, but it's possible, and in fact, needful to arrange our lives into manageable sizes to stay sane--at least for me. I'm not saying it's easy--my husband travels about 60% of the time, and it can be emotionally draining dealing with whiny kids--but if we can lay railroad tracks for our daily lives it'd be easier to function and that's what I try to do--and I stress on "try". On a week to week basis I have my tracks laid down--I know which kid is doing what, when and what meals to be served throughout the entire week--this cuts down on unnecessary time making extra trips to the grocery store. I do most of my shopping on the internet--like books, supplies, clothes, and make-up, to save on time--and it's less expensive too, with free shipping and I can shop at 2am!Also, on my site, I have some blogs on using free things to give the kids a great education (and I hope to input more of such things as time goes by)  but still give us, moms, some time to gather ourselves before we fall apart at the seams. One example is using Netflix movies to help in the homeschooling--make movie nights a meaningful and educational experience. And a mom can take a break as the kids watch something that would benefit them. This is one of the tricks I use to give myself an hour here or there. Also, I audit their time--find out when or which time block I spend my time on doing meaningless tasks--it's like budgeting with time as my currency.Another advice I have, and this may seem unrelated, is I stay away from negative people as much as possible. There is something draining about being around negativity and this mental torture will translate to stress, illnesses (which will make me even busier and serves no purpose) and there is something about the lack of peace that even sucks out whatever little time and energy I have. But having said that, about the homeschooling, it's good to have a schedule but if things fall apart and some kid really didn't finish up whatever task was given, I'd learned through almost 17 years of homeschooling that the best thing is to just move on and not fret. There will always be another day, and in every stormy cloud there truly is a silver lining. So, there you go folks. No magic wand for me to find time. Wish I have something like this, but at the end of the day it's searching for any time I can find. If anyone out there have suggestions, please share, so I can write more! How much of the author is there in the main character of any novel? And to what extent do authors write themselves into the stories they tell?My characters and their human counterpart.Where do main characters come from? All those personalities, like Daisy or Jay Gatsby from The Great Gatsby, or Anne of the Green Gables series, or Katniss from Hunger Games? It really depends on the story. And I am sure each author has his or her own take on this. When I wrote my first book, Keeper Of Reign, I extracted some of the traits my kids portrayed and quirks I thought were cute and endearing and included these in some of the conversations and personalities—it is after all a book for kids. But that is about where the similarities end. As the story developed and plots took shape the circumstances the characters in Reign faced helped formed their own personalities. So I can’t say that there was very much in me at all in the main characters of Keeper of Reign.Having said that, things got a little different with my young adult psychological thriller, Dead Dreams. I see a lot of myself in Brie O’Mara, the main protagonist,  and even in Sarah McIntyre, the anti-hero,  even though both young ladies are very different people. In some ways, I believe, the author always deposits a portion of herself into the characters—particularly the main ones. Think about it: as the plot falls into place, and as the writer faces the questions the characters are confronted with—what would she do faced with this or that—wouldn’t it be reasonable that the author would reflect her biases into how anything is played out? Of course, the fictitious person would have a basic personality to start with, say, a moody, pouty girl, used to having the world offered to her on a silver platter and servants hovering around her, as in Sarah McIntyre, but when she is faced with a proposal, say to rid herself of a nagging, persistent boyfriend, how she thinks, is in some part a reflection of what the author thinks. That’s why I feel fiction is so powerful in influencing the thinking of its readers. And every fiction has a message no matter how subtly it has been woven into the story because at the end of the day, it is the author projecting her thoughts, ideas, suggestions, and world view into how the characters would act and react. So, back to the question—how much of myself is in the two main characters of Dead Dream? I’d say a lot and yet, not so much, too. Because although some of the choices my characters make are things I couldhave done, but I probably won’t due to my moral choices and governing ethics. For instance, would I ever commit a crime? I could. (For that matter, even the President of the United States could commit a crime and shockingly some have!) But I won’t—it’s a matter of choice.   I think as humans we are not all that different from each other, especially for those of us of a particular culture. As authors we cannot run away from the fact that we do breathe some of who we are, or what we believe in, into our characters –for both the protagonist and the antagonist. Each facet of the people we populate our fiction with may not necessarily be who we are now, but it can be a glimpse of what the author could be, or even what the author once was.

-Writing-Related Questions:
1. How long did it take you to write this book?
I started putting words to paper for Dead Dreams in January of 2013, but the story was already brewing my head a couple of months before that. I consider myself a fast worker but even then it has taken me about 1 whole year from the time of conception to getting the book out in paperback--which will be in November 2013.
2. What was your inspiration to write this book?
We've all been there--at least those of us who are over 21--revving to grow up, the world at our feet, the stars reachable. Wonderful ,wondrous future. But in wanting to get there, we forget to smell the roses, we trample on thorns and we get sorely poked and pricked, and alas, some of the barbs could be poisonous. Except for the Grace that watches over me, over you, (whatever you believe in, call it LUCK if you wish), all it might have taken for any of us was that wrong turn, that grabbing of something that looked good, and coupled with a strong desire to make it in life, we might be blinded and grab the adder's tail. That is the story of Dead Dreams; of Brie O'Mara, a good girl, someone who'd never even gotten a traffic ticket, even a Miss Goodie Two-shoes. But, let's face it we can all be tempted, just a tiny bit. And sometimes that's all it takes to have things spin out of control.
3. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer? I have always enjoyed spinning a yarn for my friends, even from as young as eight years of age. But right after college, and before I had kids, I worked in advertising writing print and Tv ads and I really enjoyed copywriting. Some of my ads actually won awards. I don't even know where I kept those dust collectors! But that was ages ago. I now have five children, ages nine to nineteen. I have four at home now whom I still homeschool. It gets really hectic at our home. We also have many pets, so something is always happening. However despite everything that's happening around me I always think about different plots and story lines whenever i have the time--usually before I doze off after a long day. So, I guess I'd always wanted to be an author. I never really consider one particular point in time when I made that decision. Writing is a part of life--of communicating. It's  just a means to get the stories  from my brain into someone else's head. Think about it, I put some squiggly things, called words, down on paper, and you read them, understand and react/think about these squiggles. And that's writing! Anyone who writes, in a sense is a writer.4. What do you like to do when you're not writing? Curl up with a good book.

5. What do you think makes a good story?
One that has a great voice, a compelling plot, imagination, characters I would probably enjoy meeting, even if I might not personally want them to me my bff , or anything, and  most importantly, the story that keeps me thinking, long after the book has ended.
6. Tell us about your next release.
I am  currently writing Keeper of Reign Book 2, a Middle Grade/YA adventure fantasy, hopefully out early 2014. Some readers have asked me to write a prequel for Keeper of Reign. I might. Time is my enemy these days. Once I am done with this I will be working on Dead Dreams 2 and hope to finish this by middle of  2014.

7. Has someone helped or mentored you in your writing career?
I'd like to think all those authors who wrote writing books that teach on the craft of penning a great story and the classic authors I have so enjoyed reading have in some way shaped my writing and my thought processes. So, although there has never been a physical person present to mentor me, in the traditional sense of mentoring, in many ways I've had many mentors through the books I have read.

8. Do you have critique partners or beta readers?
My husband reads my books at least twice and since he's not much of a fiction reader I value his critique since I figured if I can capture a non-reader's attention it must be a good thing, right? My older kids read my books, too, (since my books are usually Young Adult or Middle Grade fiction.) They pretty much read toward the end when it's all cleaned up--just so they don't shock themselves at my typos and errors, especially since I am often times their teacher, too. Then I also belong to a an author group and we have beta readers who point out issues. Of course, I find what my editors have to say very helpful as they are the pros and have been doing this much longer than I have.

My 4 Star Review
I received this book from the touring host for an honest review.
Cliffhanger! Really, after all that build up! The whole time I am reading this book, one word stuck with me...SCAM! (Maybe it is because I was in a recent one myself.) The character's inquisitive mind could be seen throughout the plot. The tension at a steady pace at it builds to the final ending. Deliberately planned and filled with mystery, the author keeps your attention on the unfolding plot. Making it an exciting read for young and old. Loved the cover, well fitting for this Young Adult Thriller.Brie O'Mara lived on her own, eighteen years old, holding two jobs to pay for her acting career. In need of a roommate, because her mother insisted, she finds Sarah McIntyre, a twenty-one year old heiress with lots of down time and too much money to spend.Trying to live on her own, Brie hated the fact that her mother were always nosy and meddling in her affairs as if she was a child. (The nerve of the woman...me chuckling and rolling the eyes. Kids!)Suspicion quickly surface with Sarah's no-string attached, invisible to everyone manners, flaunting cash around to pay people. The no responsibilities and no work. Claiming she sits in the Library everyday, really? Yea right! **Smile**Dreams invaded Brie's sleep, all signaling that everything is not as it seems. But...always a but, kids never learn, do they? Her mother is worried, and she dismissed the warning, even Pastor Perry, a good friend of the family makes contact with her, trying to help, but instead of confiding in the older, and much wiser man she tried to sort things out, on her own. Wrong decisions brought many disasters upon this young lady, always trying to be independent,  but at the end, what will it cost her? Do not know...remember the cliffhanger statement right in the beginning...frustrating, isn't it?Sarah's character was well developed, and because it ended so abruptly the verdict is still out on her, villain or victim. But she was obnoxious, arrogant and selfish. Independent and strong willed, she could be the mastermind, or as I already said, a poor little rich kid.I love the way the author add the Biblical dreams to bring light to Brie's problems, will she listen and follow the direction?"....We will have to see in Book 2. Fingers crossed.Pastor Perry's character stays mostly in the background but yet his inner peace and care could be seen throughout the story line. A pillar, not only to society but to the O'Mara family, during a time they need it the most.Brie's brother Keith seems interesting, over confident, arrogant and self-absorbed. What is his part in the plot? It seems we will have to wait for Book 2 to find the answers to all the questions.Well written and fast paced the book will keep you entertained till the very last page.

Excerpt #1
“You can’t be serious.” Claire mustered the dirtiest look possible for her best friend.
Tiffany held out her hands and air-squeezed the man’s firm rear end from a distance. “C’mon. Look at that ass.”
“Yes, but a Santa Claus? How do I know what he looks like under that suit and beard?” Imagining removing the white hair to find a wrinkled old man, she shuddered.
“Only one way to find out.” Smacking Claire’s butt, Tiffany urged her forward. “Go ask him.”
She planted her feet. Thank goodness she hadn’t worn heels for their marathon shopping trip two days before Christmas. “If you’re so interested, why don’t you?”
Tiffany rolled her eyes, sighing. “Because I’m engaged to be married to the love of my life. You’re the Grinch who needs to get laid.”
“I’m not a Grinch,” she snapped. Breathing deeply, she counted backwards from ten. “I’m sorry. This is a very stressful time of year for me.”
“I know.” Tiffany cupped her elbow. “I just want to see you happy at Christmas again. It doesn’t have to be a miserable holiday anymore. That’s part of the reason I dragged you with me today.”
She swallowed the lump in her throat, tears welling already. Please don’t let me turn into a blubbering mess in the middle of the mall. While she appreciated her friend’s concern, she coped better on her own. “I…I should go home. I can’t pretend it didn’t happen.”
