REPORT: The Biden White House is Terrified of Third Party Candidates Ruining His Chances in 2024 | The Gateway Pundit

The Biden White House is increasingly worried that his 2024 campaign could be undercut by third party candidates like Cornel West and whoever runs on the ‘No Labels’ ticket.

This has been obvious for months. Democrats have attacked Cornel West since he announced his campaign and have even used legal action against No Labels.

Democrats are thinking back to Jill Stein in 2016 and it’s giving them nightmares.

NBC News reports:

Biden world is worried about spoilers as third parties threaten to boost Trump

There’s a creeping fear inside President Joe Biden’s circle that the greatest threat to his re-election may come less from the Republican nominee and more from minor-party spoiler candidates.

In a new national NBC News poll, Biden is tied with former President Donald Trump, the front-runner for the GOP nomination, at 46% in a head-to-head matchup. But when third-party options are included, Trump leads Biden 39% to 36%.

Whether it’s the academic Cornel West, a yet-to-be-named standard-bearer for the group “No Labels” or nominees of the more established Green and Libertarian parties, the third-party hopefuls have become the chief internal worry in Biden world, according to more than a half-dozen people who are in regular contact with the White House.

“It’s pretty f—ing concerning,” said a person familiar with White House discussions about the matter…

The problem is also twofold for Biden, said the people in regular contact with the White House, all of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to avoid angering the president. On one political flank, he faces a well-funded effort by the No Labels group to attract moderate voters. On the other side, West could cut into his base — with both Black voters and some liberal white voters — even if only a little bit.

Hillary Clinton is apparently warning Biden about this.

Democrats have spent the last several years talking about how much they care about ‘our democracy’ so what’s the problem? Doesn’t ‘our democracy’ include other candidates?

Portland Police to Pay Former Anti-Police City Commissioner Nearly $700,000 Settlement | The Gateway Pundit

Portland police agreed to pay former Portland City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty nearly $700,000 in a lawsuit settlement after officers allegedly leaked false information about her involvement in a hit-and-run to the Oregonian.

Jo Ann Hardesty spearheaded the movement to defund the police and has even demanded Mayor Ted Wheeler hand her control of the police bureau.

Hardesty originally sought $3 million from the police association, $1 million from an officer, and another $1 million from another officer, but they settled out of court. She was mistaken to be a hit-and-run driver with a 911 caller back in March of 2021. An officer had shared that information with a friend who was an activist who later shared the information on a live stream.

Hardesty was cleared of the hit-and-run but decided to sue the police association and 2 officers.

Fox News Reported:

The police union in Portland, Oregon, and two officers agreed to pay a former city commissioner $680,000 to settle claims that they leaked information falsely implicating her in a hit-and-run.

Jo Ann Hardesty’s lawsuit seeking $5 million was scheduled to go to trial this week. A jury would have been asked to decide if police racially discriminated against Hardesty, the first Black woman to serve as a Portland city commissioner and a staunch advocate for defunding the police in 2020.

The city of Portland settled its portion of the lawsuit in August for $5,000 and a written apology from Mayor Ted Wheeler.

The dispute began in March 2021 when a 911 caller mistakenly identified Hardesty as the driver who rear-ended her and fled the scene.

A Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officer leaked the accusation to an activist friend who later shared the information on a livestream, an internal review conducted last year found. Then-union president Brian Hunzeker also leaked the false information to a reporter, according to Hardesty’s lawsuit.

During her time as city commissioner, Hardesty routinely lashed out at police. She called for defunding the Portland Police during the 2020 riots and even alleged that police “‘saboteurs’ were starting fires and infiltrating the crowds of protesters who took over Portland’s streets for more than 100 consecutive nights,” according to Fox News.

Her extreme stance to defund the police and turn Portland into a trash pile of crime, cost her reelection.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported on Hardesty in 2020 when she had called the police on a Lyft driver over Covid protocols even though she had called for the defunding of the police.

NASA’s First Asteroid Sample Returns to Earth in Utah Desert | The Gateway Pundit

Soil samples from an asteroid were successfully returned to Earth on Sunday Morning.

NASA’s Osiris-Rex spacecraft delivered the sample back to Earth from an asteroid 63,000 miles away. It entered Earth’s atmosphere at an amazing 27,000 miles per hour while carrying about a half pound of the soil. It landed outside of Salt Lake City, Utah at a U.S. Military testing range.

New York Post:

A NASA spacecraft captured soil samples from an asteroid that may come close to hitting Earth in the next 200 years and parachuted the capsule into a Utah desert Sunday morning.

The flyover marked a successful mission for NASA’s Osiris-Rex spacecraft, which dropped the samples from the asteroid Bennu while flying about 63,000 miles from Earth’s surface.

The tire-sized space capsule rocketed through Earth’s atmosphere at 27,000 mph from deep space, carrying about 9 ounces of rocks, dust, and dirt.

About four hours after releasing the capsule — which collected the largest soil sample ever gathered from the surface of an asteroid — the capsule touched down within a designated landing zone west of Salt Lake City on the US military’s vast Utah Test and Training Range.

Scientists will have a better idea of how much of the soil is in there once they open the capsule. Three years ago when the spacecraft was returning, some of the soil floated away because it was overfilled causing the lid to jam.

The spacecrafts first mission to the asteroid Bennu was in 2016. It took two years to get there and traveled four billion miles by 2020 upon its return.

Bennu orbits the Sun about 50 million miles from Earth and is the size of a skyscraper. It is supposed to fly very close to Earth in 2182 and scientists say there is a one in 2,700 chance that it will hit Earth, which would cause a lot of destruction.

Biden Border Crisis: El Paso, Texas Shelters Are So Overwhelmed That Hundreds Of Venezuelans, Including Children, Are Sleeping on the Streets | The Gateway Pundit

Hundreds of Illegal aliens in El Paso, the majority from Venezuela, will be sleeping in the streets since the shelters are at capacity. Among the illegals sleeping on the streets are innocent children. The shelters are so full that they have literally run out of room.

The Biden Regime doesn’t care. Millions of illegals have poured in since January 2021 when he was installed in the White House. It’s deliberate.

The State of Texas has been abandoned by the Biden Regime. Border towns are the ones most immediately impacted by this invasion.

In Eagle Pass alone, 10,000 illegals crossed the border in one day last week. The mayor issued an emergency declaration because of how bad the invasion is at the border. Governor Greg Abbott is continuing to bus a lot of these illegals to “self-declared” sanctuary cities. The Federal Government has failed in its Constitutional duty to protect our borders, so the states have to take action.

Additional buses deployed to Eagle Pass are loading up to send migrants to self-declared sanctuary cities.

Last week TGP reported on the never-ending line of illegals pouring into Eagle Pass, Texas.

The Democrat Mayor of Eagle Pass issued an emergency declaration after a “never-ending line” of military-aged males arrived by train from Venezuela.

The Biden Regime continues to lie to the citizens of our country with the help of the media. Over 10,000 illegals crossed into Eagle Pass, Texas on Wednesday.

Video posted to social media shows a huge line of illegals walking together. They were asked in Spanish where they were from and they replied, “Venezuela.”

Another video posted by Fox News reporter Bill Melugin shows a massive group of mainly military-aged single men waiting to be processed into the U.S. by the Border Patrol. They usually release these people into the country with no accountability which is a danger to the citizens of the United States.

MACRON FOLDS: France Withdraws Diplomatic Presence in Niger – Security Agreement Is Also Over, and French Military Troops to Depart in the Next Few Months | The Gateway Pundit

The French influence in Africa is crumbling in front of our eyes. After a long impasse with the Coup junta in Niger, President Emmanuel Macron announced that France is leaving the West African nation, diplomatically and militarily.

Associated Press reported:

“President Emmanuel Macron announced Sunday that France will end its military presence in Niger and pull its ambassador out of the country after its democratically elected president was deposed in a coup.

The announcement is a significant, if predicted, blow to France’s policy in Africa, after French troops pulled out of neighboring Mali and Burkina Faso in recent years after coups there. France had stationed thousands of troops in the region at the request of African leaders to fight jihadist groups.”

France has maintained some 1,500 troops in its former colony of Niger, even though, since the July coup, they had repeatedly refused orders by the new junta for its ambassador to leave.

Macron has expressed that France didn’t recognize the coup leaders as legitimate.

“In an interview with France-2 television, Macron said that he spoke Sunday to ousted President Mohamed Bazoum, and told him that ‘France has decided to bring back its ambassador, and in the coming hours our ambassador and several diplomats will return to France’.

He added, ‘And we will put an end to our military cooperation with the Niger authorities.” He said the troops would be gradually pulled out, likely by the end of the year’.”

He made a point of reminding everyone that France’s military presence in Niger was in response to a request from Niger’s government.

The move deals a tremendous blow to France’s influence in the region, while Macron said France would ‘not be held hostage by the putschists’.

He has time and again argued that he still regarded Bazoum, currently held prisoner by the coup leaders, as the country’s legitimate leader.

BBC reported:

“Mr Macron’s statement also comes hours after Niger’s coup leaders banned ‘French aircraft’ from flying over the country.

The regional air safety organization, ASECNA, said that Niger’s airspace was open to all national and international commercial flights except for French aircraft or aircraft chartered by France including those of the airline Air France.

The air space would remain closed for ‘all military, operational and other special flights’, unless receiving prior authorization, the message said.

Air France told the AFP news agency simply that it was ‘not flying over Niger airspace’.”

Trump White House Lawyer Sues Dirty Prosecutor Andrew Weissmann For Defamation | The Gateway Pundit

Former Trump White House lawyer Stefan Passantino sued crooked prosecutor Andrew Weissmann for defamation over a tweet claiming that Passantino “coached” January 6 witness Cassidy Hutchinson to lie under oath.

The lawsuit was filed in a federal court in DC. Passantino is seeking damages in excess of $75,000.

Recall that Cassidy Hutchinson falsely testified Trump lunged at a Secret Service Agent on January 6.

Cassidy Hutchinson said Trump got into “the beast” after his speech at the Ellipse on January 6 with the belief that he would be driven to the Capitol.

According to Hutchinson, who received this information from Tony Ornato, the Assistant Director for the Secret Service, Trump grew angry after he was informed that he was being driven back to the West Wing.

According to Ornato, Trump shouted, “I’m the f*cking president! Take me up to the Capitol now!”

Hutchinson alleged that at this point Trump reached up to the driver, grabbed the steering wheel, and tried to commandeer the presidential limo.

Cassidy Hutchinson testified that her lawyer, Passantino, told her prior to her testimony before the January 6 Committee: “The less you remember, the better.”

However, Hutchinson told the January 6 Committee during testimony that Stefan Passantino never told her to lie.

“I just want to make sure that I make it clear that he didn’t say, ‘I want you to lie and say that you don’t recall on these things when I know you recall,’” Hutchinson said. “He didn’t tell me to lie. He told me not to lie.”

On September 15, Weissmann claimed in a tweet that Hutchinson’s lawyer coached her to lie (he didn’t mention Passantino’s name).

Hunt also is Cassidy Hutchinson’s good lawyer. (Not the one who coached her to lie) And he is the guy who took notes of Trump saying, when Mueller was appointed, quoting him as saying “I’m f….d” https://t.co/HFGmwI9f0B

— Andrew Weissmann (weissmann11 on Threads) (@AWeissmann_) September 15, 2023

According Law & Crime, the lawsuit states:

Defendant knew this to be false, or said it with reckless disregard for its falsity, because the transcripts of testimony showed that Mr. Passantino had done nothing to obstruct or shape Ms. Hutchinson’s testimony and indeed showed the opposite as she stated that “Stefan never told me to lie” and that “he told me not to lie.”

Defendant chose to smear Mr. Passantino because of partisan animus and Mr. Passantino’s prior affiliation with President Trump. Additionally, Defendant attacked Mr. Passantino as a means of distracting from and rehabilitating the contradictory and uncredible aspects of Ms. Hutchinson’s testimony, as they undermine the Select Committee and its partisan findings and purpose.

Defendant’s smear has deeply damaged Mr. Passantino’s 30-year reputation and had caused him to lose significant business and income. Mr. Passantino seeks to hold Defendant accountable for this vicious lie and the damages it has wrought.

National Guardsmen Appear to Give Ladder to Illegals During Live Report (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

During a live Fox News report, members of the Texas National Guard appeared to put down a ladder to help illegal migrants enter into Eagle Pass, Texas.

The action by the guardsmen was first pointed out by co-host of Steve Bannon’s War Room Natalie Winters.

Winters posted a clip of the Fox News report and wrote “Watch the left side of your screen. The national guardsmen put in a ladder to help the illegals get in.”

According to the DHS, there are currently 2,500 members of the National Guard at the southern border with over 800 guardsmen on their way.

Per The Western Journal:

As President Joe Biden’s administration weathers yet another border crisis — this one in Eagle Pass, Texas — GOP Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is doing something about it. Not only that, he’s getting results.

According to NewsNation, the Texas National Guard and Department of Public Safety troopers arrived in Eagle Pass to help handle the situation after the mayor of the border town issued a disaster declaration.

The Eagle Pass sector of the southern border has already seen 270,000 encounters with illegal migrants in fiscal year 2023. However, on Wednesday, over 10,000 people alone crossed into Eagle Pass from Mexico, sources within U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

Ransomware Negotiation and Ethics: Navigating the Moral Dilemma

Ransomware attacks have developed in recent years from mere data breaches to sophisticated operations. These attacks often involve targeting organizations, and these cyber criminals have gone from a minor speck on the digital security radar — to a widespread and highly advanced type of cybercrime. Nowadays, businesses of all sizes and industries find themselves trapped in a game of digital chess. Their opponents use nefarious tactics to compromise essential and sensitive data, holding said data hostage for exorbitant ransoms, with ransomware attacks increasing 105% in 2021.

The difficult choice of whether to engage with hackers holding critical information hostage has repercussions beyond the digital sphere, challenging the ethical foundations of businesses and institutions. A thorough analysis of the ethics behind choosing to negotiate or not is necessary as businesses struggle with the conflicting demands of protecting their operations and honoring their ethical obligations.

The Case for Negotiation

As organizations confront the imminent threat of data loss, operational disruption, and potential harm to stakeholders that may be caused by ransomware, a compelling argument emerges in favor of engaging in negotiations. Therefore, we must examine the most effective techniques for mitigating the effects of ransomware attacks. Although it may appear counterintuitive to some, negotiation can be a useful strategy for safeguarding the interests of victims and the larger digital ecosystem.

Data Protection and Business Continuity: Because a business’s capacity to operate is significantly compromised when it is the target of ransomware, negotiation may provide enterprises access to crucial data and systems again, allowing them to resume operations quickly. Negotiation offers victims the opportunity to recover encrypted data while decreasing the impact on their everyday operations; this can be particularly crucial for medical institutions, emergency services, and other essential services that directly affect the safety and well-being of the general public.Reducing Economic Impact: Organizations may suffer substantial financial losses due to ransomware attacks, including those related to downtime, damage to reputation, and potential legal consequences; such financial ramifications can be limited through negotiation. While it’s crucial to stress the need for cybersecurity precautions, bargaining can act as a backup plan to lessen firms’ burdens if all else fails.Strategic Resource Allocation: The decision to negotiate with cybercriminals is complex and often influenced by resource constraints and cost considerations. Bargaining may be an effective tool for allocating resources, as negotiating for releasing valuable company assets can be less expensive than completely rebuilding systems. Organizations might choose negotiations as a strategic action that balances financial caution with the necessity of resuming operations.Negotiation May Be a Bad Idea

In the intricate world of ransomware negotiations, a parallel argument emerges that raises questions on the ethics of the decision to engage with cybercriminals. Negotiating with cyber hackers raises a fundamental concern: the potential for organizations to reward criminal behavior inadvertently. Negotiation is a potential means of limiting losses and recovering invaluable data. However, many ethical considerations lie beneath the surface of possible relief, urging both caution and contemplation.

While the need to safeguard operations and stakeholders is of the utmost importance, the underlying ethical implications compel organizations to navigate this terrain with caution and foresight. From the troubling prospect of perpetuating criminal activities to legal liabilities, the decision to negotiate with cybercriminals or not emerges as much more complex as it has repercussions far beyond the immediate crisis.

Promises Not Kept: The first challenge in ransomware negotiation lies in the illusion of control. Organizations paying ransoms to retrieve their data may believe they have a guarantee of recovery. However, there is no assurance that cybercriminals will provide or delete stolen data and information. Businesses could pay substantial sums without recourse if the attackers renege on their promises.Legitimizing Criminal Behavior and Enabling a Vicious Cycle: Engaging in ransomware negotiation has broader implications for the cybersecurity landscape. It effectively legitimizes criminal behavior by demonstrating that ransomware attacks can yield financial gain, thus sending a dangerous message that encourages cybercriminals to continue their activities, knowing that victims might give in to their demands.

The potential for negotiation to start a vicious cycle is another of the most contentious aspects of negotiation. By succumbing to the attackers’ demands, organizations unintentionally provide money to criminal enterprises, allowing them to hone their strategies and initiate new campaigns.  This perpetuates a dangerous ecosystem and cycle where cybercriminals are financially rewarded for their illicit activities.

Undermining Law Enforcement Efforts: Negotiating ransomware can make it more challenging for law enforcement to identify and apprehend online perpetrators. The encrypted payment methods and anonymous networks utilized for negotiations make it tough for authorities to trace the flow of funds and identify the criminals behind the attacks. This makes it more challenging to hold wrongdoers accountable and break up criminal networks.Exploring Alternatives– Proactive Measures

Ransomware attacks have evolved into a significant threat, demanding careful consideration of alternative strategies and proactive measures to mitigate their impact. Organizations must adopt a multifaceted approach that includes prevention, preparedness, and recovery rather than solely relying on negotiation. A business may be able to avoid having to decide whether or not to negotiate during a ransomware attack by investing heavily in their security, implementing effective data backup and recovery strategies, maintaining strong endpoint security, and threat intelligence & monitoring to reduce the risk of security breaches, and employee training to reduce the risk of human error.

The role of collaboration between governments, law enforcement, and businesses in preventing and addressing ransomware attacks can not be overstated. Organizations can navigate the aftermath of a ransomware attack with the aid of law enforcement agencies and legal professionals. Investigations are facilitated by reporting incidents to law enforcement, and legal advice can assist organizations in choosing the best course of action while abiding by regulatory requirements.

Conclusion

Ransomware negotiations present a complex ethical landscape where organizations must weigh their responsibilities to stakeholders, societal well-being, and the potential consequences of their decisions. While the moral dilemmas surrounding negotiations persist, businesses must consider both the short-term and long-term impacts of choosing to negotiate or not. As cyberattacks evolve and increase in both magnitude and prevalence, the ethical considerations surrounding ransomware negotiations will continue to challenge organizations, making it essential for them to navigate these complexities with vigilance and integrity.

Negotiation in ransomware situations is a nuanced strategy that must be considered in conjunction with robust cybersecurity measures. Although choosing to negotiate provides a pragmatic approach to address the immediate challenges posed by ransomware attacks, safeguarding data, business continuity, and economic stability, the technological and ethical challenges it presents cannot be ignored. By refraining from negotiation and redirecting efforts toward proactive cybersecurity measures and law enforcement collaboration, organizations can contribute to a more resilient digital landscape and send a clear message that criminal behavior will not be rewarded.
