Pope Francis Faces Growing Worldwide Pushback Against His ‘Same-Sex Blessing’ Doctrine | The Gateway Pundit
If you think that fierce opposition to the latest initiative by Globalist Pope Francis – namely, the blessing of same-sex unions – is limited to the Conservative American bishops led by Joseph Strickland, think again.
All over the world, prelates and faithful alike have vigorously opposed the new directives from Francis, as a growing number of Catholic bishops in Africa and Europe are publicly voicing their rejection of the new document by the Vatican.
The issue is yet another polarizing initiative in Francis’s quest to remake the Catholic Church according to his ‘very peculiar’ vision of the institution.
The document entitled ‘Fiducia Supplicans’ states that blessings can be offered to people in same-sex relationships if they are not confused with the ritual of marriage.
While the document reaffirmed that marriage is a lifelong union only between a man and a woman, many conservatives in the Church fear that the move is ‘a step toward the Catholic church accepting homosexuality’.
In a report from Associated Press, the extraordinary scope of the pushback against the pontiff becomes clear.
Zambia’s bishops conference:
“Same-sex couples blessings were ‘not for implementation in Zambia‘.”
The bishops conference of Malawi:
“Blessings of any kind for same-sex unions of any kind would not be permitted.”
Polish bishops conference:
“No plans to give blessings to same-sex couples. Marriage, the conference asserted, remains only the union between a man and a woman, and sexual acts outside of that are always an offense against God’s will.”
German Cardinal Gerhard Müller:
“The declaration is ‘self-contradictory’ as it still says same-sex relationships were contrary to God’s law while allowing same-sex couples to receive a blessing. The church cannot celebrate one thing and teach another.”
Kazakhistan Bishop Athanasius Schneider:
“The new policy is a great deception. Priests should be aware of the evil that resides in the very permission to bless couples in irregular situations and same-sex couples.”
Conference of Nigerian bishops:
“They needed to make clear that the Vatican document does not allow for a blessing and a formal acceptance of same-sex relationships.”

Spotify withdraws festival support in France in response to new streaming tax
Spotify has announced its decision to withdraw support for two major music festivals in France, starting from 2024. This move, according to TechCrunch, comes as a direct response to a new tax imposed on music-streaming services in France, which has sparked controversy and opposition from industry players.
The French government has introduced a tax, expected to range between 1.5 and 1.75%, on all music-streaming services. The revenue generated from this levy will support the Centre National de la Musique (CNM), established in 2020 to bolster the French music sector. While major streaming platforms like Apple, Google’s YouTube, and local player Deezer have opposed the law, Spotify has been particularly vocal in its criticism.
Antoine Monin, Spotify’s managing director for France and Benelux, criticized the tax, labeling it a “real blow to innovation.” In response to the tax, Spotify has decided to pull its support for the Francofolies de la Rochelle and the Printemps de Bourges festivals, events it has previously backed financially and through other resources. Monin hinted at further actions in 2024, though specifics were not disclosed.
Spotify’s withdrawal from these festivals signifies a significant shift in its investment and support strategies within the French music industry. This decision could have broader implications for the festivals and the artists involved, potentially affecting their visibility and financial viability.
Broader industry reactionsThe new tax has united major streaming platforms in opposition, reflecting broader industry concerns about the impact of such policies on innovation and investment in the music sector. Spotify’s strong stance may influence how other companies respond to similar legislative changes globally.
Spotify’s reaction in France contrasts with its recent dispute with the Uruguayan government over a law promising “fair and equitable” remuneration for artists. Initially threatening to cease operations in Uruguay, Spotify reversed its decision after receiving government assurances regarding the financial implications of the law.
While withdrawing from the French market is not a feasible option for Spotify, given its significance, the company plans to reallocate resources to other markets. Monin’s statement that France does not encourage innovation and investment highlights Spotify’s strategy to focus on regions more conducive to its business model and growth.

PM Orbán Says European Union Is ‘Blackmailing’ Hungary, Withholding Funds Over Budapest’s Position on Ukrainian Membership and Aid | The Gateway Pundit
Conservative champion, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is in constant dispute with the European Union over an array of Globalist policies that Brussels wants to impose on every member – but that Budapest rejects.
The EU – that Orbán has called ‘a bad parody of the Soviet Union – tarnishes Hungary as ‘poor’ on the rule of law, while simultaneously propping up Ukraine, a country with a government that has banned all opposition parties and censored virtually every media outlet critical of Zelensky.
So this week Orbán said that the European Commission, led by über Globalist Ursula von der Leyen, is ‘blackmailing’ Hungary by withholding billions in frozen funds.
Orbán said the blackmail is admitted by the ‘blackmailers’ themselves — the members of the European Parliament.
Politico reported:
“’In our view, Hungary fulfils all the qualities of the rule of law, and when the European Commission has specific needs, we implement everything from them, and we are also cooperative,” Orbán told reporters in Budapest during a press conference. “You cannot blame me for doing everything I can to promote Hungary’s interests in such a blackmailed situation’.
Orbán’s government has been embroiled in a long-standing dispute with Brussels, which has frozen billions of EU funds intended for Hungary over concerns about human rights and the rule of law in the country.”
Read: Hungary’s Orbán Calls the European Union a ‘Bad Contemporary Parody’ of the Soviet Union
Just last week, the European Commission unblocked €10.2 billion in frozen funds for Hungary, just a day before the start of Ukraine’s accession talks to the EU and a further aid package to Kyiv.
Many EU politicians, reading the situation in reverse, warned Brussels not to ‘give in’ to what they perceive as blackmail from the Hungarian leader.
“There is more money at stake for Budapest and Orbán is still blocking a €50 billion aid package for Kyiv, which leaders are set to discuss early next year.”
The problem for EU politicians is that Hungary genuinely believes European Union funding to Ukraine must not be granted from the EU’s budget.
Reuters reported:
“‘I am convinced that to give Ukraine 50 billion euros ($54.70 billion) from the EU budget for five years… That’s a bad decision’ […]They want to give the money to Ukraine from inside the EU budget, Hungary wants to give it outside the EU budget. They have the possibility – if we don’t agree on this – to resolve this outside the budget but don’t have the option of resolving this from the EU budget without Hungarian approval’, Orbán said.”
“‘They have the possibility, 26 members to resolve this with a joint loan outside the budget. If this comes up we will consider what we say. […] We do not want to link financial assistance to be given to Ukraine with any Hungarian financial issues… this would also violate the EU principle of loyal cooperation’, Orbán said.”

Facebook, Instagram’s Encyrpted Tech Allows Sexual Deviants To Target Kids | The Gateway Pundit
Meta is launching new encryption technology for direct messages on Facebook and Instagram amid protests by the social media giant’s former employees warning the updated system makes it more difficult to track down online child predators.
Earlier this month, the social media giant enabled “end-to-end” encryption for direct messages, which blocks anyone except the sender and receiver from viewing the contents of the communication, on Facebook and Instagram to ensure privacy protection for users.
Zuckerberg’s employees took issue with the encrypting Facebook messages when the project was initially announced in March 2019, prompting workers to resign in protest.
The 39-year-old Meta Chief Executive said at the time that “the future of communication will increasingly shift to private, encrypted services where people can be confident what they say to each other stays secure.”
Former engineer director David Erb quit working at Meta in protest of the initiative. In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Erb, who ran Facebook’s “community integrity” team details how adults find children to prey upon using Facebook’s “People You May Know” algorithm.
“It was a hundred times worse than any of us expected,” he told the publication. “There were millions of pedophiles targeting tens of millions of children.”
Erb warned his superiors that encrypting direct messages on Facebook would provide a safe haven for predators who preyed upon children.
Meta spokesperson Andy Stone predictably downplays his company’s role in facilitating pedophilia and minimizes his former employees’ complaints about the encryption messaging.
“Former employees are entitled to their opinions, but not their own facts. The truth is, while we’d long invested in child safety efforts, in 2018 we began to restrict recommendations for potentially suspicious adults, continued ongoing efforts removing large groups of violating accounts and even supported a successful push to update the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reporting statute to cover many grooming situations, which previously had been included,” Stone said in a statement to Erb’s allegations.
As the former Meta engineer predicted, months later in May 2020, Department of Homeland Security investigators were notified of Meta users were using the encryption technology to prey on children. i
In one instance, Karl Quitter, a Chicago man, exploited the new technology to solicit sexually explicit photos and videos of at least nine teenage girls in the Philippines.
Using the alias “Mathew Jones,” Quitter “preyed on the victims’ financial difficulties, using money transfers to the victims’ families to entice the girls to take the sexually explicit images,” according to federal prosecutors.
In an encrypted message to one 16-year-old victim in 2020, Quitter bribed the underaged girl, promising to send money to her family for medicine and food if she acquiesced to his demands.
“If u do what I tell you … I will make sure u can buy food for 2 weeks and your medication,” Quitter said in the message. “Think of your little sister that she can e[a]t for 2 weeks everyday 3 meals a day and u get well.”
Facebook investigators turned Quitter’s messages over to authorities and he was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting children.
Facebook’s “trust and safety team’s ability to access messages was instrumental” in bringing about an arrest, a DHS investigator told WSJ.
In June, researchers found Instagram’s recommendation algorithms linked to and even promote a “vast pedophile network” that advertises the sale of illicit “child-sex material” on the platform.
Instagram allowed users to search by hashtags related to child-sex abuse, including graphic terms such as #pedowhore, #preteensex, #pedobait and #mnsfw — the latter an acronym meaning “minors not safe for work,” researchers at Stanford University and the University of Massachusetts Amherst told the Wall Street Journal.
As The Gateway Pundit has reported, New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez is suing Meta and Zuckerberg after authorities uncovered a series of communications among sex predators operating with the state, utilizing the seemingly innocuous term “PIZZA” as a code word to obscure their illicit activities on Meta.
“Our investigation into Meta’s social media platforms demonstrates that they are not safe spaces for children but rather prime locations for predators to trade child pornography and solicit minors for sex,” Attorney General Torrez said in a statement.
“As a career prosecutor who specialized in internet crimes against children, I am committed to using every available tool to put an end to these horrific practices and I will hold companies — and their executives — accountable whenever they put profits ahead of children’s safety,” he added.
During the past several months, the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office launched an undercover operation posing as minors under 14 on Meta’s platforms. This sting operation led to disturbing findings, where it was discovered that:
Proactively served and directed to underage users a stream of egregious, sexually explicit images — even when the child has expressed no interest in this content.Enabled dozens of adults to find, contact, and press children into providing sexually explicit pictures of themselves or participate in pornographic videos.Recommended that the children join unmoderated Facebook groups devoted to facilitating commercial sex.Allowed Facebook and Instagram users to find, share, and sell an enormous volume of child pornography.Allowed a fictitious mother to offer her 13-year-old daughter for sale to sex traffickers and to create a professional page to allow her daughter to share revenue from advertising. You can read the disturbing full 228-page complaint on the New Mexico Attorney General’s website.

NBC News Reporter Asks Pennsylvania Voters if They Feel Good About the Biden Economy – Is Met With Stunned Silence (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit
Dasha Burns of NBC News got more than she bargained for when she asked a group of Pennsylvania voters if they feel good about the Biden economy.
Instead of responding to her, they stared at her in silence.
When she followed up by asking what they think, she got an earful about the rising cost of everything, inflation, shrinking retirement income and more.
FOX News reports:
NBC reporter met with silence after asking voters ‘who feels good about the economy’
NBC News reporter Dasha Burns was met with silence when she asked voters if they believed that the economy was working well for them.
“Who feels good about the economy right now?” Burns asked in a Thursday segment on Erie, Pennsylvania voters’ views on the economy.
None of the voters appeared to respond, prompting Burns to laugh.
“Who feels bad about the economy right now?” the reporter asked as multiple voters raised their hands.
When asked what the biggest challenges of the economy are, one voter said that almost all the daily necessities of life have become more expensive.
“Groceries, gas, everything you have to buy every day is way more expensive than previous years,” the voter said.
“Let me ask you this,” Burns said. “Right now, when you look on paper, you’ve got low unemployment rates, wages are up, inflation is easing, stock market’s doing well, but are you feeling any of that? How are you feeling about the economy day to day?”
“I’m not sure I agree with what you just said,” a voter told Burns.

Fortnite brings John Wick skin back into its item shop in time for the holidays
It is three years since John Wick last made an appearance in Fortnite so we should never be surprised when a long-absent skin returns. With the release of the John Wick 4 movie earlier in the year, it was expected he would be back then, but something must have held things up and now we get him for Christmas instead.
Fortnite announced his arrival on X saying, “Back with a new style. The John Wick Outfit is back in the Shop!”

Wick comes as a Fortnitized Keanu Reeves dressed in a sharp black suit, shirt, and tie, and looks pretty cool to be fair. There is no timeline available as to how long he will remain in the Item Shop, but it’s likely to be a few days at least.
There is no saying when the skin will return once it’s gone this time, however, so if you want it, you should probably act sooner rather than later, unless you want to wait another few years for your next shot. The skin comes with the usual back bling, glider, and pick so you can kit yourself out with the full set.
Until now, those with the John Wick skin have had a rarity on their hands, but that’s all changed with his return, so not everybody will be pleased to see him back.
Fortnite does have a policy of rotating its available skins which gives a sense of FOMO (fear of missing out) to players, which encourages sales.
It has been a very busy month for the Fortnite team, not only launching three new modes including the phenomenally successful Lego Fortnite when you can play as minifig versions of your fave Fortnite characters but also introducing a link-up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a limited time.

Victor Davis Hanson on Colorado Supreme Court Trump Ballot Ruling: ‘Does the Left See Where it is Taking the Country?’ | The Gateway Pundit
Conservative scholar and historian Victor Davis Hanson has weighed in on the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to remove Trump from the 2024 ballot in a new column that poses some very important questions.
Hanson reminds readers that Kamala Harris supported the riots of 2020 and that Chuck Schumer threatened two justices on the U.S. Supreme Court and asks if those acts qualify as forms of insurrection.
He also wonders if the left realizes where all of this is taking the country.
Hanson writes at American Greatness:
Trump Derangement Syndrome became Orwellian with the recent ruling of the Colorado Supreme Court.
It approved the erasure of Trump from the Republican primary ballot in Colorado, by invoking Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.
That ossified clause was intended to bar any ante-bellum federal officials who joined the Confederacy from again holding federal offices after 1865.
Hanson compares the left’s outrage about January 6th to the BLM riots:
That day’s illegality in terms of violence and death paled in comparison to the largely excused and exempted 120 days of summer violence in 2020, when Antifa and BLM engineered riots, arson, and death.
Their planned violence accounted for 35 or so killed, and more than 1,500 injured police officers.
Some $1-2 billion in property was destroyed.
A police precinct, federal courthouse, and iconic Washington, D.C. church were torched.
Mobs attempted to storm the White House grounds and sent the president into a secure underground bunker.
But if one really wishes to imagine genuine “insurrectionary “and actionable language, then recall current Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2020 de facto encouragement to the rioters,
But they’re not gonna stop. They’re not gonna stop, and this is a movement, I’m telling you. They’re not gonna stop, and everyone beware, because they’re not gonna stop. They’re not gonna stop before Election Day in November, and they’re not gonna stop after Election Day. Everyone should take note of that, on both levels, that they’re not going to let up — and they should not. And we should not.
Hanson then points to this moment from a two years ago:
Schumer is inciting violence towards Supreme Court Justices Gorsuch & Kavanaugh.
“You will pay the price! You won’t know what hit you!” “This was an insurrection.”
It’s a felony to threaten justice’s.
Be nice if someone would arrest Chuck.pic.twitter.com/UWGTXwoybT
— GT SD Jack’s (@realredsd) December 22, 2023
Finally, Hanson asks:
So does the Left see where it is taking the country?
Some would say that the left knows exactly what they are doing, and that it’s all going according to plan.

China gaming laws: Tencent stock plummets amid crackdown fears
China is set to enforce new gaming laws on the nation’s vast video game sector after fresh regulations were applied to reign in excessive use and rewards for repeated play.
As a result, Tencent Holdings Ltd has led an $80 billion sell-off in some of the Chinese market’s biggest online names. The moves have created some panic among investors, bringing back recollections of the hit on tech in 2021, as reported by Bloomberg.
Back then, the government provided an instant shock to its industries, from e-commerce to entertainment, putting checks on the likes of Ant Group and Alibaba, whilst online education was left reeling after profits were declared illegal.
This latest action, confirmed on Friday (Dec 22), includes caps on how long players can play certain games, a ban on content deemed to violate national security and a halt on prizes for frequent log-ins. These changes came without warning and now investors are left to assess the aftermath with share prices sent tumbling.
With Tencent, China’s most valuable company, leading the exodus, its holdings have fallen as much as 16% but NetEase saw a 28% drop in its stocks. Bilibili Inc. took a 14% hit as part of the combined loss of $80 billion in the three stocks’ market values.
What are China’s gaming laws? This development is China’s Communist regime flexing its authoritarian muscle.
Beijing is wary of the performance and profits of its private sector because it doesn’t want it to become too powerful. The shadow of the government is always visible and at any given moment, it can eclipse the independence of business.
These curbs on gaming follow the 2021 edicts which set strict playtime limits for under-18s as well as freezing the approval of new games onto the market, citing compulsive behavior concerns among players.
Now, new rules will enforce further limits on in-game spending and a ban on reward features for online activity as well as game titles having to limit how much gamers can top-up their digital wallets for spending on play.
Ivan Su of financial market analysts Morningstar stated, “The removal of these incentives is likely to reduce daily active users and in-app revenue, and could eventually force publishers to fundamentally overhaul their game design and monetization strategies.”
Beijing is also said to be monitoring user data, insisting video game publishers host their servers strictly within China.

The Battle for Higher Education | The Gateway Pundit
This story originally was published by Real Clear Wire
By Bruce Abramson
Real Clear Wire
Higher education is making news these days. In Congressional testimony, the Presidents of Harvard, MIT, and Penn couldn’t tell whether calling for the genocide of the Jews constituted harassment without knowing the context. The effects of their testimony reverberate.
Days later, the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) issued a lengthy report condemning “Political Interference and Academic Freedom in Florida’s Public Higher Education System.” Prominently featured was a detailed complaint about New College of Florida, where I serve as admissions director.
These seemingly unrelated events are but two parts of a single story. The Ivy League and the AAUP, as representatives of today’s academic leadership, are pleased and proud of the institutions they’ve built. Florida’s public education system has taken the lead in promoting institutional reform—with New College as the poster child.
Needless to say, incumbent leadership doesn’t welcome any reforms at their cozy institutions. They perceive our reforms as threats to American higher education as we know it. Their perception is correct. Their problem, however, is that academia as we know it bears little resemblance to academia as most Americans believe it to be.
The incumbents have spread a gloriously self-serving myth system. In their telling, their institutions are bastions of liberal values, civil discourse, and the free exchange of ideas. They’re open to the finest representatives of every community, perspective, and viewpoint. They’re engaged in educating a new generation in the fine art of critical thinking.
The truth, however, is almost the polar opposite of that myth. America’s universities are country clubs for insiders who have dispensed with independent thought as the price of belonging. Under the seemingly high-minded ideal of “faculty governance,” faculty make all important decisions: Hiring, firing, promotion, tenure, curriculum design, publication in prestigious journals, the appropriate paths for research, and the flow of research funding.
Does faculty governance work? The AAUP, which represents faculty members from across the country, is clear: America’s professors are highly impressed with the performance of America’s professors. Most of the complaints in the AAUP report hinge on the usurpation by outsiders of decisions that “belong” to the faculty.
In reality, faculty governance enshrines conventional wisdom into a governing ethos from which none may deviate. Over the past few decades, a deeply illiberal “Critical Theory,” rooted in the same utopian socialism that birthed Communism and Fascism, has assumed that dominant role.
Critical Theory casts history as a constant struggle between “oppressor” groups and “oppressed” groups. “Intersectionality” ties them all together, so that all struggles pitting any oppressor against any of the oppressed are manifestations of the same struggle. All actions of the oppressed are thus justifiable as blows for liberation and justice. Deterrence or retaliation against even the most seemingly barbaric acts merely perpetuates oppression.
It’s enough to make your head spin. It’s also a fine line along which universities must dance. Academic leaders must be open and proud of their beliefs without ever allowing anyone to note their implications. On a critical theoretic campus (which is most of them), determining whether calling for a genocide of the Jews constitutes harassment does indeed require context—it’s just not a context to which the leadership can admit.
The relevant context has little to do with behavior or message; it rests entirely upon the identity of the speaker. A “white” student wearing a swastika T-shirt calling for genocide is harassing the Jews; a “student of color” wearing a Palestine T-shirt with an identical message is not.
Admitting as much, however, would give away the game. America’s finest campuses would be revealed to be anti-liberal, anti-freedom, anti-discourse, hotbeds of privilege and racial categorization.
Therein lies the true state of “academia as we know it” and the true goals of those of us committed to reform.
In one of the clearest articulations of these competing forces, longtime Harvard donor Bill Ackman enumerated the ways that Harvard had deviated from the school he had believed it to be. New College President Richard Corcoran showed that our goal in the reform movement is to rebuild American academia into the type of institution whose loss Ackman laments.
Corcoran then invited Harvard’s refugees to join us at New College. Anti-reform critics scoffed at the improbability. The message behind his invitation, however, is one that every participant in campus life needs to hear. In the current climate, they face an unenviable choice. They can sacrifice their minds, their souls, and their safety to the cause of earning a prestigious degree. They can incur deep personal and professional risks in fighting for their institutions from the inside. Or they can join us at institutions that have proudly embraced the cause of higher education reform—beginning with New College and the rest of the Florida State University System.
Those choices frame the battle for the future of higher education in America: Incumbents fighting to preserve a deeply illiberal, hateful, discriminatory status quo vs. reformers seeking a return to traditional liberal education. If you want to understand why we in the reform movement get so much hatred from the incumbents, look no further.
