2014 Year End Reflections & My Word for 2015

I look forward to these year end reflections. Of course, this year I started doing monthly wrap-ups, so perhaps it will feel a little repetitive. I hope not. They aren’t the same.

My Word for 2014: MANIFEST

I don’t believe I began to even scratch the surface of understanding God’s manifestation of Himself in me and all that it means. I feel as if my life was out-of-control busy, and so I never felt as aware of achieving my goal in this regardas I would like to have been.

Movie Review: The Hundred-Foot Journey

100FootJourneyYes, I am enjoying a little time off from writing this week, which means more than one movie review in the past few days. This one I watched at home.

I finally got the chance to seeThe Hundred-Foot Journey (a movie based on anovel of the same name). It released in August 2014. The big name star isHelen Mirren, and she iswonderful in her part, as usual.

Going in, I didn’t know much about the story other than that the Kadam family from India arrives in France and opens a restaurant (Indian cuisin...

Movie Review: Unbroken

unbrokenJerry and I returned a short while ago from seeing the first showing ofUnbroken. Oh my word. An amazing film about an amazing man. How I wish I could have met Louis (Louie) Zamperiniin person the way director Angelina Jolie did.

I try hard not to put spoilers in my movie reviews. If you have read the book (which I think you should), nothing I say cansurprise you. If you haven’t read it, I at least assume you know some of the history of what happened to Americans in the Japanese prisoner of war...

Movie Review: EXODUS: Gods and Kings

exodusLast night, Jerry and I went with our adult granddaughter to see Exodus: Gods and Kings.

If you want a biblically accurate film, this isn’t it. However, if you are after an action-adventure film that is visually stunning, this mightfit the bill. (We didn’t see the 3D version, but it must have been amazing in some scenes.)

I lost count of the times I thought to myself and/or whispered to my husband or granddaughter, “Well, it didn’t happen that way [in the Book ofExodus].”

Any movie that takes on...

10 Days til Christmas

10 DaysI have been thinking about a lot of year-end “stuff” lately. Getting my calendar for 2015 in order. Catching up on bookkeeping so that files will be ready to go to the CPA come January. Trying (and failing) to tidy my office.

Mostly I’m wondering how we have reached 15 years into this “new” millennium already. Wasn’t it just yesterday that the calendar turning over to 2000 was such a big deal? Were banks going to fail? Were we going to be without food and water? Seems kind of quaint now. After...

The Love of Story

interstellarJerry and I returned about an hour ago (at the time I wrote this post) from seeing the movie, Interstellar. Over the last month, I’ve had several friends rave about the movie, but somehow, other than knowing it was a movie about the earth in trouble and some people going into space to find another place for mankind to live, I managed to stay ignorant of any details.

What a movie experience. Truly. I loved Gravity last year, but I loved Interstellar even more. Far more. Over an hour later, I st...

Christian Fiction Wednesday – Final Feature

Hello, friends. I have decided to retire the Christian Fiction Wednesday feature. I have begun doing more and more book giveaways, also featuring Christian fiction, but the Books Authors Read and Authors Who Inspire blog posts aren’t nearly as time consuming as obtaining the information for the CFW posts has been. Be assured that I will continue to share about great books. It just won’t be in bunches or on a specific day.
