Books Author Read | Kathryn Springer

Kathryn Springer, winner of the 2009 ACFW Carol Award (Family Treasures), grew up in a small town in northern Wisconsin, where her parents published a weekly newspaper. As a child, she spent many hours sitting at her mother’s typewriter, plunking out stories, and credits her parents for instilling in her a love of books – which eventually turned into a desire to tell stories of her own. Encouraging women in their faith journey is the reason Kathryn loves to write inspirational fiction. When s...

My Apologies to Subscribers

Oh dear. I owe an apology to all of my wonderful blog subscribers.

I am moving my old blog posts written more than a decade ago from Diaryland to my present web site. I moved more than twenty of them before I realized that each and every one of them were going out in emails to subscribers. I thought since they were backdated that they wouldn’t be mailed.

I deeply regret filling your email boxes that way, even if some of them may have been worth reading.

I will change my mode of operation from he...

Persistent Prayer: A Generous Spirit

generosity

© genotar1 / Dollar Photo Club

Because the word(s) God gave me for 2015 were/are “Persistent Prayer,” I have dedicated much of my reading this year to be books and devotionals about prayer.

After finishingThe Circle Maker (awesome, 5 star book!), I turned to a biography of George Muller that was recommended to me by a friend. George Muller: The Guardian of Bristol’s Orphans by Janet & Geoff Benge. It reads like a novel and was written for kids, but I’m finding it a great read for an adult too.

The Bucket List

The chapter in Mark Batterson’sThe Circle Maker that I read this morning was about goal setting. Big goal setting. Lifetime goal setting. At this stage of my life, like others before me, I have come to call this my Bucket List, the things I want to accomplish before I die.

The Bucket List

Call it what you will, I want to dream BIG dreams for my future, no matter how long or short that time may be. I am not out of places I want to go, things I want to accomplish, adventures I want to experience. And this chapt...

Persistent Prayer: Prayer Journaling

My word for 2015 is “persistent prayer.” Thus much of my meditation, reading, and personal writing this year will be focused on prayer. I am beginning my days with reading a chapter ofThe Circle Makerby Mark Batterson. I have owned a copy of this book for quite some time, and it moved to the top of my readinglist when a dear sister in Christ (and prayer warrior) named it as one of her favorite books on prayer that she read in 2014. I am finding it wonderful, challenging, and faith-building.

Cover Ideas Survey – Can You Help Me Decide?

My work in progress is set during the winter in the mountains of Idaho. Which means snow outside and warm fires inside.

The cover is starting to be worked on, and there are two different ways to go. An outdoor scene in thesnow. Or an indoor scene with a blazing fire in the fireplace. Here are two photos that I got from a stock photo site. These arenot what the publisher is using (to my knowledge). These are for my own inspiration. (If you’d like to see more inspiration for this novel, check out...
