I had been a Christian for 25 years before I heard the terms Calvinist and Arminian. Of course I had heard of men and women of faith who fell into one of those theological camps (i.e. John Calvin, John Wesley). I just didn’t know the camps had names.

When I was introduced to those terms, it was by two Christians who defined themselves that way (one a Calvinist and one an Arminian) and who, lovingly, delighted indebating why they believed what they believed whi...

February Wrap Up

While much of the rest of the country was in the deep freeze, southwest Idaho (and much of the West) was enjoying spring like weather. So much that I was getting daily notices of high tree pollen count. After three weeks and several new record highs for February, we cooled off again, but to be honest, it didn’t mean much to me. I’ve been sticking to the indoors and the computer.

Book Review: The Committee for the Reburial of Liver-Eating Johnston

Tri Robinson

Tuesdaynight I readThe Committee for the Reburial of Liver-Eating Johnston: Memoirs of a Dyslexic Teacher by Tri Robinson, and I have to say this was a delightful, encouraging, fun, entertaining, and inspirational memoir. Well-worth reading. It’s not a long book. Most readers will finish in an evening or two. It’s available in print and ebooks.

Here’s the blurb:

Tri RobinsonIn 1974, Tri Robinson and his 7th grade American Literature class went on an unthinkable quest to dig up and rebury a famous mountain...

March All Night

Have you ever had God smack you between the eyes as you are reading? I have, and the most recent occasion was while I was readingSun Stand Still by Steven Furtick. In case you aren’t sure where you have heard that title before, it was in aprayer of Joshua, that God would make the sun stand still in the sky so the Israelites could win the battle they were fighting.

Audacious Faith

I’m a Logomaniac

I love to receive a “word of the day.” I especially love it when I can learn a new and interesting word. I subscribe to one such list via email and receive a different one on my iPhone in an app.

Everyoneneeds to be aware that words have power. In fact, that was the theme of my book,A Matter of Character. It behooves us to know and understand thewords that we speak, to ourselves and to others, so that we might speak hope and healing into a hopeless and hurting world.
