Back to Being Back to School

Some years ago, I attended a college graduation ceremony (remember when they had those in a normal fashion?), and while sitting in the bleachers, I had an epiphany. I’d always said I was going to get a college degree (something I didn’t do at the usual age) “when I had the time.” And sitting in those bleachers I realized, as with anything else, I would never have the time. If this was something I wanted to do, I needed to just do it.
I went home, got on line, and began the registration pr...

Celebrating 100 Years of Voting Rights for Women

This month (August), America is celebrating 100 years of voting rights for women. It’s the anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. As you may know, my home state of Idaho gave women the right to vote 24 years before that (1896).
In Catching Katie (winner of the Carol Award and named a “Best Book” by Library Journal), my heroine is a suffragette, returning to Idaho to encourage other women to help pass the 19th Amendment.
I confess that Katie is one of my favorite heroine...

It’s not turning out like I thought it would
Because 2019 was a rough year for me personally, I was looking forward to turning the calendar to a new year and a fresh leaf.
My word for 2020 is “Revelation” and the related verse is Ephesians 1:17 where Paul prays, “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.” (NASB95)
Sounds good, right? I was ready to spend this year deepening my intimacy with Jesus, only in my mind, I pictured that happening...

Rich Beyond Measure: Zlata’s Story

I’m excited to share the cover for a novel that caused me to daily live in the Gospels and the words of Jesus. The research took me deeper into the world in which Jesus lived. The story features the poor widow who gave the two mites—everything she possessed.
Readers will have a chance to buy Rich Beyond Measure on July 7, 2020 via Guidepost Books.

Shelter in Place Q&A #4 (Part 2)
In today’s video, we wrap up our 4th question with the remaining authors in our Zoom session, and we sign off from our very fun time together. We hope you’ve enjoyed watching as much as we enjoyed chatting with one another.
Until next time, take care and be safe.

Shelter in Place Q&A #4 (Part 1)
Our fourth question took us longer to answer, so the video was divided into two parts. (Look for Part 2 on Saturday.) We hope you have as much fun listening to our answers as we did as we talked about it. The question:
What’s the hardest thing about being in quarantine? And if you’re with someone, are they driving you crazy yet?
Enjoy!
See you tomorrow with Part 2.

Shelter in Place Story Time

Stuck at home and wondering what to read next? I’m joining ten other writer friends today to read from our books. Officially, I’m reading on my IGTV channel, but I can’t ignore my blog readers so my video is below. I’m also posting to my Facebook page.
While some have recorded their readings (I’m one of them), others are reading Live, so here are the “official” reading times:

Shelter in Place Q&A #3
We’re back. Today’s question is:
How long has it been since you’ve really cleaned your house?
I hope you enjoyed the above video. I’ll post the first of the Question #4 videos (had to break that one into two) on Friday because on Wednesday, we’re bringing you something different.
The same group of authors are going to be reading from their novels in individual videos, posted to Instagram and/or Facebook. We’re calling it Shelter in Place Story Time. Don’t miss them!

Scripture Writing in my Faith Edition of the Happy Planner
[image error]
I have been a follower of Christ for over 41 years. I was passionate about His written word from Day 1. One wonderful spiritual discipline is to write out Scripture. It seems to go deeper when I take the time to write it down in my own hand.
In June, I saw a YouTube video about the One Book July 2017 challenge. In the planner community, there are more types of books and planners and sizes of books and planners in which to plan and journal than you can imagine. Some people use five to ten pla...

One of my Favorite Apps plus Puppy Photos
Last week a PDF copy of my first pass pages of You’re Gonna Love Me arrived in my inbox, with a print copy arriving at my door a few days later. Depending on the publisher, these can be called different things, but basically this is the author’s last chance to catch typos and other errors in her manuscript before it goes to press.
[image error]A corrected page on my iPadAlthough most authors probably still write their changes/corrections on the printed pages, in recent years, I...
