About LIFE AFTER FALLING:
One tangled cassette tape. Two tangled lives.
Cassidy snaps. She quits her job and fiancé all in the same day and ends up on her parents’ doorstep. In the midst of everything she is determined to fix a broken cassette tape that she thinks holds the key to rediscovering happiness.
On her quest to fix the tape she meets Leo, a guy as down on his luck as she is lost. What starts with curiosity leads to something resembling a relationship and maybe a chance at love.
Excerpt:
"Can I look?" I gestured to the movie collection he had piled next to the massive TV.
"Sure." He walked over to the kitchen counter and put down his keys, wallet, and phone. I liked that he put down his phone. It meant he was all there with me. I’d worked hard to break my own addiction to technology.
"Quite the collection." My eyes ran over the titles.
"I've picked up a few over the years."
"What's your favorite?" I kneeled down to see them better.
"You can't ask me that."
"Why not?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Because I don't have one favorite. Each category is different."
"But no overarching favorite?"
"Not for movies, but I do for music. Movies are like food while music is like women."
"Uh, do I want to know what that means?"
"Movies each have different purposes for me. Some make me laugh, some make me think. Some are entertainment. Like food. How can you compare a burger with a slice of cake? They serve different purposes.”
"Got it, but why is music like women?"
"Music has one purpose. To move someone. I can pick one favorite. The same goes for women. Who needs variety if you can find everything in just one?"
Words had never turned me on so much. "That's an interesting way to view things."
"It works."
I stood up. "But what if you never find one thing that has everything you need? Do you keep searching?”

Teaser
With no more than a flash of thought, he was inside the man's room and standing at the foot of a large bed.
Locks. Such a useless human defense.
He cocked his head to the side and examined the book splayed open on the man's naked chest. It looked as though it had fallen there when he'd drifted off to sleep, his fingers still resting against the glossy cover.
Heroes, Gods, and Monsters of the Greek Myths.
Now that is an unlikely coincidence.
A sinister smile morphed Alasdair's lips, and he touched the tip of his tongue to the fangs elongating from his upper gums. The familiar surge of adrenaline caused his skin to come alive with awareness as his body prepared itself to do what it had been created for.
Raising his hand, he flicked his wrist and the covers whisked back. The man beneath was no more aware of the action than a slight shift in the air as a low sigh escaped him and he stretched his body, turning his head on the pillow.
The sight that greeted Alasdair made the hours he'd spent tracking well worth the time. When the human took a breath, the knotted drawstring tie of his linen lounge pants caught his attention. Fuck, that made him want to indulge his carnal side first.
Maybe this was the root of his current obsession. In fact, that thought was followed by one truer to his perverse nature. How long would it take to have him clutching those covers from lust if I wanted it? And as Alasdair continued to observe the human, he realized just how much he wanted it.
The chest where the book was lying was covered in a light dusting of blond hair. It trailed a path along the center of the man's sternum to his stomach, which looked as hard as his own. However, unlike his own abdomen, this man's skin would be warm to the touch.
Perhaps he could take a moment or two and… No, he didn't have the time, and that really was a shame. A meeting had been called this evening, and he was due at the Assembly Hall soon. The last thing he wanted to do was piss off the Ancients by being late.
So, with the speed and the stealth only his kind possessed, he was on the bed and stretched out above the man, and his mouth hovered over the ear closest to him.
He threw the book, which landed with a loud thump on the floor, and couldn't stop himself from slipping one of his hands beneath those thin pants to curl his fingers around the flaccid cock he found inside. When a soft groan left the human, Alasdair used his other hand to capture his captive's wrists like iron shackles and pin them above his head. Before the man had a chance to wake, he delved inside his head and projected an image of where this hunt would finally end.

Newly broke girl
Alexandria Asher just wants to live a normal life. After her parents are sent
to prison on embezzlement charges, she enrolls in college under her mother’s
maiden name and tries her best to pretend she’s someone else.
Tristan Prescott is everything
Alex is trying to avoid. A seemingly egotistical, lazy, rich jerk, she dumps
her beer on his head when he comes on to her one night at a party. This only
spurs Tristan into action. He loves nothing more than a challenge. And the
beautiful Alex is exactly the type of challenge that intrigues him.
Despite her reluctance,
Alex finds herself quickly involved with Tristan. Underneath that playboy
exterior is a good guy, a sweet and sexy guy who she is undoubtedly falling
for. What they both don’t realize is the actions of Alex’s parents are the
reason for so much tragedy in Tristan’s family. And when Tristan discovers who
Alex and her family really is, can he forgive and forget?
Excerpt
Slowly I turn to find a tall guy standing before me, and it takes everything I have
not to roll my eyes. Most of the dudes at this Halloween party tonight are beyond obnoxious, either
wearing the most ridiculous costumes ever or behaving like assholes. Something
about a mask and drinking too much booze on the spookiest night of the year
brings out the worst in them. This guy, in his sleazy pimp costume, is no exception. And wasn’t his costume played
out already years ago? Made out of cheap crushed purple velvet trimmed in
leopard print, with wide collars and bell bottom pants, topped by a matching
purple velvet and leopard trimmed hat. He’s wearing mirrored sunglasses so I
can’t see his eyes, which makes me think he’s kind of shady. The grin on his
face is huge, in that giant, shit-eating way good looking guys smile.Because he so is. Good looking. He knows it too.Oh, and he has a cane. That he’s pointing right at me at about mid-thigh.Like he’s trying to lift the hem of my skirt.I take a step away from him and send him my most evil glare. “You look
ridiculous.”“You look hot as fuck.” He lowers the cane and takes a step toward me, that
confident grin he’s wearing perfectly matching his horrific costume. He looks
like a greedy pimp. Or what we regular people think a greedy pimp must look
like.“Eloquent,” I tell him, crossing my arms in front of my chest. I ignore the little fizz of
pleasure his comment gives me. I should not like that he called me hot
as fuck. How crude. He’s a pig.His head tilts down and he actually reaches up to push his sunglasses down the
bridge of his nose so he can…what? Get a better look at me? He’s got a lot of
nerve. “Nice cleavage, angel.”I don’t have what constitutes as much cleavage yet somehow, he makes me feel
dirty for wearing a costume with a low neckline. Must be his tone of voice. Or
more likely the lecherous way he’s checking me out. Do girls really find his
behavior attractive? Granted, he’s good looking from what I can tell but his
attitude is shit.“Do you come by the sleazy comments naturally? Or are you powered by the costume?”
I bat my eyelashes like I’m as innocent as my halo implies I am.He pushes his sunglasses back up, covering suddenly thunderous blue eyes. He’d
seemed infinitely amused with himself, with the situation only a moment ago and
I’m surprised at the sudden shift. “My flirting skills are in the toilet with
this costume tonight, I swear to fucking God,” he mutters. His blunt honesty makes me laugh and he smiles slowly in return. “Newsflash. Girls
don’t find pimps that attractive. We’re taught from a young age to run in the
opposite direction when we spot one.”“I’ve discovered that.” He rubs his chin, cupping it with his thumb and index finger
and I watch those fingers move in barely contained fascination. He has nice
hands. Wide palms, long fingers… “You run into many pimps?” His deep voice breaks through my thoughts and I give a slight shake of my head.
“You’re my first.”The faintly leering grin is back, just like that. Inside I grow cold. He’s too
cocky for me. Too sure of himself. I’ve dealt with enough of these types to
last me a lifetime. “Well, let me introduce myself—”

Giveaway Blitz: Don't Make Me Beautiful
Book & Author Details:
Don’t Make Me Beautiful by Elle Casey
Publication date: September 9th 2013
Genres: New Adult, Romance, Suspense
Synopsis:**This story was inspired by true events. If you liked the movie “Sleeping With the Enemy”, then you might like this story too. CONTENT WARNING: Violence, foul language, and adult situations. Not meant for younger readers.**
A ROMANTIC SUSPENSE NOVEL. No one knew a woman lived there or that she even existed. A monster, living in darkness…
At twenty-two, Nicole doesn’t even look human anymore. The beast made sure of that. So she hides. A monster, consigned to a life of fear and solitude. This is all she deserves, she is quite sure of that.
And then one day out of the blue, the autographed baseball caught by Brian Jensen at the latest Marlins game enters her prison and manages to turn her world completely upside down.
Temptation comes in the form of pity at first, and then perhaps something more. Does she dare to believe the things she’s told, that this is not the life she was meant to live? That being a monster is not her forever-fate? And will she be willing to risk everything, to reach out and accept the helping hands around her and share her deepest, darkest secrets? She knows only too well that hands can hurt. Finding out whether they can also heal is a risky proposition, especially when the beast is still out there. Looking for her.

Don’t Make Me Beautifulby Elle CaseyChapter 1
She sits on the couch, staring out the window as the late afternoon sun tries to make its way through the glass. Dark beige curtains frame the outside edges of her only access to the outside world, while white sheers fill the middle, making it almost impossible to see what’s going on beyond the shrubs that run underneath. Those gauzy curtains would also make it impossible for her to see what’s going on inside her house, if she were ever standing on the lawn or the sidewalk looking in. But that never happens. She never leaves the house. Not even at night. Well, once she did. But then never again. The aftermath was not worth the brief taste of freedom. The clock is ticking.Ticking … ticking … ticking. It’s her only company for most of the day. Kitten lived for less than a day before her violent end came and she was put under a blanket of soil in the backyard. The rat remains hidden in the attic crawl space where he’s safe from the monster, so she rarely sees him. She hears him though, at night, and it gives her comfort to know she’s not totally alone. There is no attic space for Nicole, though. She waits on the couch for the monster to come home. He’ll be here soon. An hour. Maybe a few hours if she’s very, very unlucky. It’s not that she wants to see him sooner, it’s just that if he’s late, it means he’ll be drunk. And anything can happen when the monster gets liquored up. Good, bad, ugly. It’s all the same. Nicole wishes that the clock would stop ticking, stop carrying time away from her and just give her a few hours of non-time to gather her brain back together, to think, to find a way out of this mess.
She takes a deep breath and sighs heavily, the familiar ache in her ribs and face reminding her of the reality she lives with day in, and day out. The clock might as well keep on ticking, because there is no escape from this mess. This mess is her life until the day she takes her last breath and is placed in the spot next to Kitten in the backyard. He already has the hole dug.

She typically wouldn’t balk at the opportunity to sift through her aunt’s collection of antiques, but when she arrives in Devil’s Vale, Georgia, she discovers the family house in a state of disrepair she won’t be able to handle alone.
Colton Waters is back in Devil’s Vale – whether he likes it or not. After he loses his acceptance to medical school with no explanation, he’s left with a single job offer…one that will return him to the hometown he’d hoped to escape.
When an errand to help his sister ends in a meeting with Reese neither will easily forget, Colton takes a job as her temporary handyman.

Reese isn’t the only gifted member of the family – her aunt Kate has been practicing the family business…the business Reese has been sworn never to discuss.
After a ghostly visitor arrives one night, Reese and Colton learn Kate wasn’t the only one practicing the darker arts. They begin to uncover secrets that refuse to stay buried.
Here They Lie won the Young Adult Romance Writer’s 2014 award for New Adult fiction.
Lori's Thoughts: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. The setting was perfect. The storyline was a lot of fun. The reason I wasn't able to give it more stars is not because of the story or characters, or even the writing -- not really. The technical aspects of the writing are one of the harder things an author has to deal with while putting their stuff out there. DK's storytelling ability is amazing. I just felt that the writing could have been tighter and some of the over-used words trimmed down/out. The dual POV could probably have been eliminated as well, though I understand why the author opted to do it the way she did. The book could have been greatly improved with some minor tweaks here and there in the editing. Not a bad book, otherwise.

D’Ann Burrow once told her preschool teacher she wanted to be a witch when she grew up. That simple comment signaled the start of a life-long fondness of things that go bump in the night. As she grew older, she could most often be found with her nose buried in a book, and she was especially fond of the Nancy Drew series as well as anything by Christopher Pike or Stephen King. Occasionally she’d take a trip to the world of the classics where The Scarlet Pimpernel and A Little Princess reigned among her favorites. She’s lost count of the times she’s read Little Women.Today, D’Ann enjoys the world of Supernatural, stories about guys with fangs, and she’s seldom met a disaster film she hasn’t liked. When she grows up, she’d like to work at the Haunted Mansion. Until then, watching Ghost Hunters will have to count as research.
D’Ann writes about secrets people keep. Even the bravest heroine or a guy with a heart of gold has a few skeletons in the closet they’d rather not share with the world. When those secrets get out, things get interesting.

Book Review: The Five Stages of Falling in Love
The Five Stages of Falling in Love
by Rachel Higginson
The Five Stages of Falling in Love is a Contemporary Romance.
Elizabeth Carlson is living in the pits of hell- also known as grief.
Her husband of eight years, the father of her four children and the love of her life, died from cancer. Grady's prognosis was grim, even from the start, but Liz never gave up hope he would survive. How could she, when he was everything to her?
Six months later, she is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life and get the kids to school on time. Both seem impossible. Everything seems impossible these days.
When Ben Tyler moves in next door, she is drowning in sorrow and pain, her children are acting out, and the house is falling apart. She has no time for curious new friends or unwanted help, but Ben gives her both. And he doesn't just want to help her with yard work or cleaning the gutters. Ben wants more from Liz. More than she's capable of ever giving again.
As Liz mourns her dead husband and works her way through the five stages of grief, she finds there's more of her heart to give than she thought possible. And as new love takes hold, she peels away the guilt and heartache, and discovers there's more to life than death.
TeriLyn's thoughts: My first Rachel Higginson story and certainly not my last - The Five Stages of Falling in Love hails as a charming story about devastating loss, heartbreak, and learning to love all over again.
Written solely from the point of view of Liz Carlson - broken widow, relatable mother of four - we feel a connection to her life almost immediately. As the book opens we understand her once in a lifetime love and how much she's lost. We see her barely getting through the day slowly evolving through the five stages of grief as Ben Tyler enters her life and irrevocably changes it.
Ben Tyler. The hero. The savior. If there were more Ben Tyler's walking this earth the world would be a much safer, brighter place. He does the right things, he says the right things, and he wiggles his way so subtlety into the lives of hurting Carlson family the reader can't help but fall in love right along with Liz and her children. Ben gives so easily. He recognizes in Liz what we learned Grady wanted for her after he was gone. He's not an alpha, not a bad boy, nothing even remotely but what Higginson portrays him to be - a really great man with a lot of love to give in exchange for the light Liz innately shines.
As the ghost of Liz's deceased husband plays an important role in the story we move through the five stages of grief with Liz as Higginson shows us that the ideas behind these 5 stages can perfectly align with falling in love. Liz doesn't want to fall in love or move on and we live it right along with her as it happens anyway - to the benefit of her family, her grief, and her life. And much to the delight of the reader as we feel what she feels so naturally.
I picked this up on a whim after being introduced to this author from her latest release and I'm so glad I did. It felt comforting to me in an odd way because through this author's poignantly real, honest and even at times amusing dialogue between characters and Liz's inner monologue Rachel Higginson gave me a continual feeling of security and strength in the belief that life moves on whether we want it to or not. Her meaningful words and excellent writing took me on an easy-to-read and heartfelt journey through The Five Stages of Falling in Love.
