Book Review: Souls Unfractured
Souls Unfractured (Hades Hangmen #3)
by Tillie Cole
"For fractured souls are like magnets.
Drawn to collide into an impossible bliss…"
Labeled a ‘Cursed’ woman of Eve from birth, Maddie has endured nothing but pain and repression at the hands of The Order’s most abusive elder, Moses. Now living with her sister in The Hangmen’s secluded compound, finally, Maddie, is free. Free from the suffocating faith she no longer believes in. Free from endless years of physical and mental torment.
Just… free…
At age twenty-one, the timid and shy Maddie is content to live within the confines of her new home—safe from the outside world, safe from harm and, strangely, protected by the Hangmen’s most volatile member; the heavily pierced and tattooed, Flame.
Flame.
The man who ceaselessly watches over her with his midnight dark and searing eyes. The man who protects her with a breath-taking intensity. And the man who stirs something deep within her numbed heart.
But when circumstances conspire for Flame to need HER help, Maddie bravely risks it all for the broken man who has captivated her fragile soul.
The Hangmen’s most infamous member, Flame, is ruled by one thing—anger. Plagued by haunting demons from his past, an all-consuming rage, and isolated by an abhorrent hatred of being touched, Flame's days are filled with suffocating darkness, pierced only by a single ray of light—Maddie. The shy, beautiful woman he cannot purge from his thoughts. The woman he has an overwhelming need to possess…
... the only person who has ever been able to touch him.
Flame’s mission in life is to protect Maddie, to keep her safe. Until a trigger from his troubled past sends him spiraling into madness, trapping him in the deepest recesses of his disturbed mind.
His Hangmen brothers fear that Flame is beyond saving.
His only hope of salvation: Maddie and her healing light.
Dark Contemporary Romance.
Contains explicit sexual situations, violence, disturbingly sensitive and taboo subjects, offensive language, and very mature topics.
Recommended for age 18 years and over.
TeriLyn's thoughts: The power of Tillie Cole's writing knows no bounds, in my humble reviewing opinion. I have devoured and loved every Tillie Cole story I've read am a forever fan. With the Hades Hangmen series she's created characters who so easily plant themselves within my reading heart. But with Souls Unfractured, with Flame and his Maddie/Maddie and her Flame - she elevated this series even higher. There is nothing to prepare you for the wickedly tormented pasts of Flame and Maddie, nothing will stop the tears. These two, these two extremely fragile, broken characters embody pain and hope and dark and light and love and hate within themselves and through a kinship, a friendship, a relationship so potent it'll knock you sideways.
Ms. Cole's writing is as strong as ever and really just very incredible at that. Her words read as your heart pumps full of adrenaline reliving the anguish Flame and Maddie have survived. It breaks when they're telling each other of their dreadful, awful, twisted pasts. It soars when they're together and rejoices in how much they mean to each other, in knowing each of these broken characters have given each other the chance to heal. Tillie Cole knows how to tell a great story and there's nothing else quite like Souls Unfractured.
There are many, many, many great reviews on this book, on this series as a whole. It's a book to prepare yourself for reading. Souls Unfractured is the best of the three as Tillie Cole packed it with everything: great losses and gains, emotion, angst, torture - honestly the gambit of emotions I felt during this journey can hardly be relayed. If you've followed the Hades Hangmen series you're aware of the significance of Flame and Maddie, you know a little bit of what they went through - trust me when I tell you, Tillie Cole goes beyond what you ever thought these two people could have possibly endured. If you haven't started this series, well, what are you waiting for?

Book Review: Hollywood Dirt
Hollywood Dirt
by Alessandra Torre
Cole Masten. Abandoned by his superstar wife, Hollywood’s Perfect Husband is now Hollywood’s Sexiest Bachelor: partying hard and screwing even harder. Watch out Los Angeles, there's a new bad boy in town.
Summer Jenkins. That’s me, a small town girl stuck in Quincy, Georgia. I cook some mean chicken and dumplins, can bluff a grown man out of his savings in poker, and was voted Most Friendly my senior year.
We were from different worlds. Our lives shouldn’t have collided. But then Cole Masten read a book about my small town. And six months later, his jet landed on our dusty airstrip, and he brought Hollywood with him.
From the start, I knew he was trouble. For our town. And for me.
Sometimes, opposites just aren’t meant to attract.
TeriLyn's thoughts: **Hollywood Dirt generously provided in exchange for an honest review.**
Hollywood Dirt is beyond EXCELLENT! This book showcases Alessandra Torre's writing at it's finest - a romance force to be reckoned with! All contemporary romances lovers will ADORE the story of Cole Masten & Summer Jenkins. I can't stop smiling now that I've finished even a few days later typing this review I'm smiling at their precious story. It's truly quite perfect.
In my opinion, of the Alessandra Torre works I've read, Hollywood Dirt hails as her best yet. The writing so beautifully conveys the story this author wants to tell completely enrapturing you with her melodic prose. Descriptive settings, alluring Southern traits and facts, incredible dialogue, infectious banter, and an interesting plot all work together in a unique twist of a Hollywood love story. While this book is different from her other more erotic works Alessandra Torre has still left her own special imprint in the pages by being deceptively mysterious never revealing the full story at once. She leaves you on edge with her plot while managing to firmly secure these two characters to your heart. Torre structured the plot to give a us bits and pieces of information throughout in such a brilliant way revealing more and more depth to these beloved characters. Told from alternating points of view of third person and the heroine's first person the reader really gets a full 360 experience while reading this book.
Laced with warm sarcasm, biting humor, and Southern hospitality Hollywood Dirt procures the fantasy of a small town woman meeting Hollywood's brightest male star through deliciously non-traditional circumstances. Summer Jenkins, our heroine, not your typical Southern Belle needs an escape plan to leave the boring life she leads in Quincy. Cole Masten, our hero, needs a quick escape from the blinding pressure of Hollywood limelight. The two meet and our quickly pitted against each other in a richly worded, picture perfect tale of enemies to lovers romance that's so infectious it's hard to put down. In Quincy, Cole and Summer develop a tight bond giving each other strength in the process even when they're ready to strangle one another. Honestly, in their fight, the most honest, vulnerable passion is revealed branding your reading heart.
There's so much goodness in this book. Some really special surprises only Torre could give you are laced throughout the pages. What do a special cameo, a rooster, a Wal Mart, and a brown paper bag all have in common? Cole Masten and Summer Jenkins. You'll have to read this wickedly awesome love story to find out more as I can't spoil the magic Torre presents within this pages. The banter being my favorite part and the dry wit both characters are capable of spitting at each other. Hollywood Dirt brings to life the story of country mouse meeting city mouse lighting a fire in each other neither realized had burned out so completely. It's a discovery of self and a change in the kind of person each of them want to be. There's a slow burn in this book, a beautiful lingering romantic undertone swirling through the journey of Cole and Summer that makes the end that much sweeter. After all it's not about where you end but how you get there that's key.
Bravo, Alessandra Torre. You knocked my socks off with this one.

Book Review: Grayson's Vow
Grayson's Vow
by Mia Sheridan
Kira Dallaire is desperate.
Some challenges in life seem too hard to overcome. With little money, and even fewer options, the quick-witted and vibrant twenty-two-year-old needs to reinvent herself. Known for her generous heart and impulsive personality, she devises a survival plan, possibly her most outrageous idea yet.
Grayson Hawthorn is losing hope.
Some obstacles in life seem too hard to overcome. Betrayal definitely being one of them. With limited capital, and dwindling resources, he is attempting to resurrect his failing family vineyard, a self-imposed vow seemingly destined to fail. That is until a young woman enters his office with an outlandish, unexpected proposition impossible to refuse.
What begins as a temporary business arrangement, soon evolves into more as vivacious, spirited Kira challenges detached, arrogant Grayson to want more from life. To want more for himself. But as their wills clash and fiery passion ignites, they'll realize that sometimes the past creates walls too difficult to climb, and that lies and deception rarely precede a happily every after.
As Kira and Grayson race toward their destiny, they will discover that some vows are meant to be broken, and others are worth risking everything for . . . even your very own heart.
THIS IS A STANDALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY LIBRA. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
TeriLyn's thoughts: **Grayson's Vow generously provided in exchange for an honest review.**
My favorite Mia Sheridan book to date. The signs of love series has been elevated to a whole new level with this story. Each book in the series so unique in it's plot and characters yet so richly layered with Mia Sheridan's special story-telling magic. Grayson's Vow fills up a reader's heart in only a way Mia Sheridan knows how to do. Her special blend of tortured hero, spirited heroine, engaging plot, excellently playful dialogue & banter, and spectacular epilogue all mixed together to create a perfectly constructed love story in Grayson's Vow.
What I love most about a Mia Sheridan fairy tale is the focus on the two main characters taking center stage. Her stories provide a character based reading experience where the plot falls secondary in comparison to the love story development. From each of their respective points of view, Grayson Hawthorne and Kira Dellaire tell us the story of their life. As an opportunity presents itself to the strong-willed, free spirited Kira she takes on the disant, melancholy Grayson full steam ahead. What comes of a perfect opportunity is truly story telling magic between two characters who believe themselves and see in each other as not the prince and the princess but the Cinderella story between a dragon and little witch making each of them come alive their charisma and connection jumping right off the pages.
From business partners to sort-of friends to lovers but so much more Grayson's Vow will enchant you they way Kira enchants Grayson and his entire winery. Mia Sheridan has tortured heroes down to a beautiful science. Grayson makes a lot of mistakes in this book, mistakes you feel down to depth of your heart because of his painful past. Conversely, while Sheridan's tortured heroes are beautifully scripted her women are full of infectious energy and spirit coupled with a strength so alluring it's hard to put the story down. This girl is as headstrong as she is beautiful. The connection she feels between the two becoming a living, breathing entity for the reader thanks to Sheridan's eloquent prose.
The secondary characters provide such an excellent backdrop for the story as well pushing these two characters toward each other constantly and completely. The child-like innocence of these two and their banter unmatched in the reading world. It's easy to forget or take for granted the simplicity of playful acts like climbing trees, dancing for fun, or engaging in a food fight and how much those things can settle your soul. It's easy to overlook a free spirit when you're too busy hiding your own spirit like Grayson finds he's doing until Kira comes along and rocks his world.
Mia Sheridan tells really spectacular romance stories. I spent a day soaking up the sun in my favorite reading chair glued to my Kindle wrapped up in the story completely enraptured living the gorgeous words of Grayson's Vow. There's just something so special about the love stories of Mia Sheridan like her own faith in the healing powers of loving someone glow right off the pages. The depth of the plot and of each characters is excellent. Sheridan's writing top notch. Grayson's Vow is a Mia Sheridan fairy tale I won't soon forget and I implore contemporary New Adult lovers to discover the magic Sheridan cultivates within the pages of this excellent book.

Book Review: Wet
Wet
by Ruth Clampett
Hi Everyone! My name is Paul and I’m a recovering sex addict...
Paul McNeill loves sex. Good sex. Bad sex. Oral sex. Any kind of sex. You name it; he loves it. But Paul's biggest passion is his greatest flaw. As a recovering sex addict, he's been abstaining and managing his addiction for over two years. Now, all he wants is to fall in love and find that certain someone he can settle down with.
But when he finds himself on his knees on Elle Jacoby’s damp lawn, he knows there's going to be trouble. Elle quickly becomes Paul's biggest challenge yet. She's instantly set him ablaze while he begs to be hosed down. As he gets to know her more, the flames burn even hotter.
How can he resist a hot divorcee who's amped up to have all the fun she's missed?
Stand-alone story-no cliffhangers. Warning: for mature audiences only.
TeriLyn's thoughts: **Wet generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.**
I’ve come to really enjoy books by Ruth Clampett. Her plots are always fresh. Her characters always people whom can make you laugh, smile, cry, or feel hot with anger. Paul and Elle meet under quite common circumstances. A man helping his sprinkler man father at the house of a recently divorced, hot client. Sexual tension flourishes from the very first page.
The tension and attraction between Paul and Elle creates a foundation on which they build a really beautiful friendship. Paul’s current life circumstances stop him from wanting Elle more intimately no matter how much she pushes. As a recent divorcee she puts herself out there to reclaim some sexual dignity and confidence with herself as Paul is struggling to subdue his confidence in that area. When Elle begins confiding in Paul they form a very strong bond. He protects and guides her sexual prowess while Elle gives him a glimpse at what he ultimately wants – a stable, fun, adventurous life partner. The book is told from Paul’s point of view and I think that choice compounded my interest in Elle. She came off as alluring and wanton but with an innocence you wanted to befriend. I really felt Paul’s connection to her on a platonic level and also could understand why he wanted her. The banter between the two of them is what I most enjoyed in the book. They go at each other with words pretty hard and that banter, for me, solidified the friendship.
With this particularly book, the angst felt too forced and then continued to labor on throughout the entirety of Paul and Elle’s love story. There were times the angst causing the wedge driving the two apart from becoming romantic seemed overused and juvenile. Two adults who are each on the seemingly right chosen paths in their lives and who very clearly have a connection couldn’t find the basic communication skills to understand each other intimately – which isn’t uncommon or something I don’t enjoy but it just went on for far too long. In contrast to their friendship, being told from Paul’s POV and him not being able to get it together romantically with her especially after all he was offering just didn’t feel right. I wanted more of them together romantically especially after feelings the effects of their great chemistry.
I read this standalone, contemporary romance in one day as Ruth Clampett always easily grabs my attention from the beginning. This is an interestingly fun story with two equally fun characters and worth the read on a lazy afternoon.

Amazon |Barnes & Noble | IBooks | KOBOExcerptGaugeSpeaking of Tank, he and the rest of the boys would be back within the hour, which meant there was probably going to be a reasonable amount of awkward around the clubhouse for a while. Sure, I’d gotten the man’s permission to go after his daughter, but approving the concept and seeing the result weren’t exactly the same thing.“Hey, baby. What are you doing?”Speak of the devil. Cami strode into the main area of the clubhouse in a pair of tiny cut-off shorts and the Disciples’ Supporter tank she’d been wearing when I got back from Sturgis. Damn, she looked fucking good. So good, I wanted to drag her back into my room, strip everything but that tank top off, and take her. She moved to sit next to me on the couch, but I reached out and grabbed her hips to settle her onto my lap.“Love this shirt, babe. We’ll have to get you some more,” I told her.She leaned in and pressed a kiss to my lips while I stroked her exposed thighs. “Glad you like it,” she said, but I muffled the end of it when I chased after her sweet lips.“You two oughta knock that shit off before Tank gets back,” Daz warned as he sat on one of the nearby couches.I flipped him my middle finger, trying to hold Cami still as she pulled away. “You aren’t going anywhere,” I growled. Then, I looked around her. “As for you, asshole, she’s my old lady. I can do as I fuckin’ want.”“All you fuckers with your old ladies. Why shackle yourself when there’s so much sweet pussy out there?” Daz kicked back and grinned like he was imagining some of that pussy getting busy with him right there.“I’ll ignore the inherent insult in that,” Cami sassed.“No insult meant, Cam,” he shot back. “I’d gladly see how sweet you are, but I ain’t gonna keep sampling the same dish when there’s a whole buffet in front of me.”I grabbed the nearest non-fragile item—a pillow from the end of the couch—and chucked it at him. “You talk about my woman’s pussy again, I’ll fuckin’ make you wish you were back in lockup.”“And that,” Daz kept right on. “You spend too much time with the same pussy, you start to turn into one.”I was about to shuffle Cami off my lap and show him just how much of a pussy I was when she spoke. “Hey, Daz?”“What, babe?”“When’s the last time you got laid?”“Cami,” I interjected. I wasn’t liking where this conversation was headed. She shushed me.“Last night,” he answered.“Hmm,” she got a look on her face, like she was pondering. “Not bad. Gauge, baby, when’s the last time you got laid?”I smirked. “You know the answer to that, darlin’.”“You’re right.” She snapped her fingers like she just realized it, and I suppressed a chuckle. My woman was a goof ball, and it was fucking adorable. “It was this morning. Once when we woke up, and then again in the shower. Not to mention, everything last night. Wow. So, since the last time Daz got laid, we’ve probably had sex…what? Four, maybe five times?”Daz laughed and shook his head. “Your woman’s a fucking smart ass.”“Don’t I know it.”Cami feigned being affronted. “I was simply trying to consider the validity of Daz’s argument,” she snapped.“Were you on the debate team in high school?” I asked.“No,” she stated emphatically, then backtracked, “not for long, anyway.”“Oh?”“I might have been asked to quit because of my ‘over-competitiveness’, ‘short temper’, and ‘inability to allow others to finish their arguments’. I mean, excuse me for not wanting to lose because Jerry Simmons’ talking points were always terrible and unsubstantiated. There was a reason he didn’t get into law school.”Daz and I laughed before he said, “Don’t worry, you can start any spirited debate you want. I’ve got another we can tackle. Anal or vagin—”“Alright, brother, you’re fuckin’ done,” I cut him off.“Buzzkill,” he muttered, getting to his feet. “That’s alright. I’m going to find one of the girls and get her to make me a sandwich.”“Seriously?” Cami called at his retreating back.“Hey, I’m all about feminism. Especially a woman’s right to choose whatever lifestyle she wants. Particularly if that lifestyle involves her making me a fucking sandwich,” he shot back as he left.“So you know,” Cami started, but I jumped in.“You aren’t going to make me a sandwich on command?”“Nope. I cook. I’ll make you pancakes, cupcakes—”“Anything that’s not a cake?”She gave me a glare. “I can cook most things relatively well. But if you want a sandwich, I think you’re solidly capable of that on your own.”“Guess I’ll be cutting sandwiches out of my diet.”She rolled her eyes. “Asshole.”

Lust and love fought for dominance in his expression when he tore himself away, and he slammed my door shut and ran around to his side. I didn’t hesitate to shift in my seat, my hand going to the flat, rigid planes of his abdomen as he shifted hard, tires squealing as he took to the street. like we were ghosts. I couldn’t help but grin.He snapped out of it, reaching for his gun, but mine was already
aimed at him. I shot him in the kneecaps, both of them, just as his gun fired,
bullets cracking the ceiling. Then, as if on cue, all of the outside erupted in gunfire.
The sound shook the walls, and through the rattling windows bursts of light
filled the sky. My army was here.I ran over to Juanito who was screaming in pain, and picked
him up by the collar, shaking him.“All right you little fuckface,” I sneered at him, trying to
fight the urge to strangle the fucking life out of him. “Tell me where Esteban
is and I’ll make your death painless. Don’t tell me and I’ll break your bones
with a hammer. Which one is it?”His screaming wouldn’t stop. I shook him again. “You can’t
protect him now. You’ll never fucking walk again and he sure as hell won’t give
two fucks about a pathetic piece of garbage like you. So talk.”But before he could, Diego was calling out my name. I let go
of Juanito, rolling over him just in time as the air above me burned with
bullets. Diego fired back at the assailants, and I kept rolling until I was
behind the kitchen island. I quickly reached for the grenade which I knew could
take out enough of them without damaging the structural integrity of the house,
and tossed it out of the kitchen. It rolled down the hallway. They yelled at each other to move but it was too late. I
pressed my hands over my ears as the blast went off.“Jesus, Javi,” Diego swore as pieces of plaster rained down
on him. “You haven’t even moved back in yet.”I didn’t care if it was sloppier than my usual methods — it
was efficient. I scrambled to my feet and stared at the wreckage. There was a
ragged hole in the wall, smoke and flames licking the edge.I shrugged. “I wanted to open up that room anyway.”Miraculously, or something of that nature, Juanito was still
alive, holding on to his bleeding and blasted knees as he writhed on the floor. He was missing half his face though, so it wasn’t like he
escaped the explosion unscathed. He was very scathed and crawling for freedom.I covered my nose and mouth with the crook of my elbow and
walked into the smoke, letting it wash over me. Juanito looked up at me with
what was left of him, begging for mercy with an outstretched hand.I stepped on his hand instead, crunching the bones beneath
my boot.“That was for my sister,” I seethed. “I know you intercepted
her call when she was calling me for help.”“Javier, we have to go,” Diego said, coughing and coming
over to stop me. A war was raging around me, but none of it mattered. All that
mattered was an eye for an eye. This time I stomped on Juanito’s arm, driving it in with all
my might, like I was squashing a cockroach, until I felt it break beneath me.He screamed.I smiled. But I was the furthest thing from happy. And Juanito couldn’t even speak at this point. His mouth was
a flap of burning skin, covering a gaping hole. He was useless.I slid the hunter’s knife out of its sheath, and with one
swift motion, stabbed it downward into the top of his skull. The screaming stopped. From the USA Today Bestselling author of Love, in English and The Artists Trilogy, comes a dark romance about a good girl and a very, very bad man. It’s a deliciously twisted take on forbidden love, set among the drug cartels of hot, steamy Mexico and is not for the faint of heart. It contains explicit sex, violence, abuse, drug use, bad language and sexy Mexicans. You have been warned…
For Luisa Chavez, a twenty-three year old former beauty queen, a better life has always been just out of her reach. Sure, she’s had men at her feet since she was a young teenager but she’s never had the one thing she’s craved – security. Having grown up in near poverty, her waitressing job in Cabo San Lucas can barely let her take care of herself, let alone her ailing parents. Every day is another unwanted advance, every day is a struggle to survive. When Salvador Reyes, the depraved leader of a major Mexican cartel, takes an interest in her, Luisa is presented with an opportunity she can’t afford to pass up. She’ll become Salvador’s wife and exchange her freedom and body for a life of riches – riches she can bestow upon her deserving parents. But Luisa quickly finds out that even the finest wines and jewels can’t undo the ugliness in her marriage, nor the never-ending violence that threatens her every move.
Soon, Luisa is looking for an escape, a way out of the carefully controlled life she’s leading. She finally gets her wish in the worst way possible. As it is, being the wife of Salvador makes her an ideal target for rival cartels and there’s one particular man who needs Luisa as part of his cartel’s expansion. One particular man whose quest for power has destroyed lives, slit throats and gotten him out of an American prison. One particular man who will stop at nothing until he gets what he wants.
That man is Javier Bernal. And he wants Luisa. He wants to take her, keep her, ruin her.Unless she ruins him first. Some men were born to create empires, some women were meant to be queen.
**Dirty Angels is the first standalone novel in the Dirty Angels Trilogy, in which all books feature or involve different characters. The character of Javier Bernal is from The Artists Trilogy, and while reading TAT is recommended if you want additional insight into this twisted character, it is not required.**
